Mizuki is someone who exists in a world of contradictions. Sometimes she's so energetic you'd swear she's the healthiest person alive, other times she's so lazy and tired that you just want to throw her out of a window to teach her how to exercise. Befitting her impish nature, Mizuki is very underdeveloped, possibly owing to her illness stunting her growth. Her eyes glow a strange violet which belie her mischievous nature, and her hair is a nice black sheen, worn long down her back, but not so long that it's tasteless. She's too thin to look very healthy, and there's hardly any musculature on the girl at all. Sometimes, when no one's looking, the clown mask drops to reveal something empty, but she hardly ever lets it down.

In terms of dress, Mizuki is usually seen in hospital gowns, which she hates. More recently she's been made to wear workcamp clothes emblazened with the Epsilon sign to signify where she belongs, but she hates that too. The devil prefers to wear elaborate bright colors and to keep up with Japan's trends. And of course, don't forget her love of cosplay, in whatever clothes the character herself wears.

The Goddess's Notes:

This Mizuki is one of my other selves from another world. In particular, she's one of those that hasn't been a part of me when I turned evil, so the world she's from has yet to be determined. It's one of the worlds I lack jurisdiction over, though the reason for this is unknown. For a large part she remains as I was - emotionless yet maintaining a mask to protect her secret. Like many other Mizukis, she has possession of the Prophecy, but who knows if she's going to use this for good or for ill? I have attempted contact, of course, but any attempt to guide her on the right path ends in failure - likely the Ether between my universe and the one she resides in is too thick for my power to pierce. I'll just have to rely on those around her to steer her in the right direction, because as emotionless she likes to act, all Mizukis are very impressionable.

This Mizuki is an unknown - she has the potential to do great things, or she could become a villain. Because of her light transference ability all Mizukis have, there's a risk she could take the Light Seed. Despite what happened in my world, this is not a solution to the problem. The Light Seed belongs to - as much as I hate to admit it - Yui, and shouldn't be passed onto any third party. Yui is the rightful Goddess, and it should be her decision if she wishes to ascend or have it removed through K's method. Let's pray that this Mizuki is able to keep her head. She's more stable than I am - thanks to having the Prophecy, she feels she has a purpose in life, so her suicidal nature has been removed. She also seems calmer, more able to think through her decisions. Perhaps having the Prophecy so young made her think twice about her actions.

Let's hope this Mizuki follows the path of Light.

Kenshiro Matsuri | 46 | Father | Alive

Natsuo Matsuri | 22 | Older Brother | Alive
Aria Matsuri | 19 | Elder Sister | Alive

{β˜› β’½β’Ύβ“ˆβ“‰β“„β“‡β“Ž ☚}
Born to two slaves of Prometheus, Kenshiro and Hazuki, destined to be good and obedient. But, just like Aria, Mizuki was just as bad with authority though she showed this very differently from how her big sister did. Mizuki was energetic in class and no matter how much her fellow classmate Hachi tried to calm her down, nothing worked. Mizuki was known through childhood for her boundless energy and good cheer. However, everything comes to an end and in her case, it all ended when Hazuki died and at the funeral she herself had her first heart attack and was diagnosed with the exact same thing that killed her mother. The once happy Matsuri house no longer existed, but Mizuki hardly felt the same grief everyone else did. And with all the mourning, no one was there to realize the girl needed therapy before it was too late and she invented the clown mask.

The house fell into discord, and Mizuki was made to drop out of school. Whenever she could though, she tried to keep the peace between the bickering Natsuo and Aria, and she tried to bring Kenshiro back home as well but nothing really worked for long. She noticed something though, her father was hiding something from them and keeping secrets. It was as if he was at least partly responsible for some horrible cruelty and was burdened by the guilt of not being strong enough to stop it. Making a ploy to try and bring Kenshiro back home and away from Ira Shoku's clutches, she convinced Aria to become an idol. But even so, no matter what she did, Kenshiro never accepted invites to Aria's concerts.

Her plans were put on halt then when a certain book came home. Natsuo was being shifty and just like with Kenshiro, he was being distant. Did it have something to do with Aria's abduction by Nagumo? It was as if they were getting sucked into the same cult! So she snuck into Natsuo's room and stole away a strange book that was marked with 'Keep top secret!' And that was how Mizuki became the Oracle, as she read this Prophecy she realized that she had a duty to do something - anything - it was possibly her reason for being born. That night she had her first visit from the Goddess, but despite the sense of urgency she couldn't figure out what the Goddess was trying to tell her.

One night, Mizuki broke out of the hospital. After a heart attack a message appeared in her head, to meet a certain ear-feathered girl at a specific location. This had to be a message from the Goddess! So after one of Natsuo's visits, she followed him out, eventually finding him talking to another girl, one with a railgun grafted to her arm. They were arguing about some kind of Prophecy, not that Mizu would ever let anyone know where she hid it. This turned out to be a trap and a snake-armed man nabbed her just like that. Even a visit from her Father wasn't enough to win her freedom in Shoku's eyes. Still, thanks to her father and her weak heart, she was spared extensive torture for information on the Prophecy and was instead put to labor and work at Camp Epsilon.

Two long years later, Mizuki developed a lightless mark in her leg, one of a puppet. Still interred in Camp Epsilon, the sickly girl wondered if soon it would be her turn to join the story.

"I agree." Mizuki felt her whole body grow colder as she took in as much darkness as they would let her - it would probably end in either her or Ronan seizing before the end - but she knew this had to be done. As the Oracle, it was her job to help Yui, and one way to do it would be to save her brother. "I am pathetic and I can't save anyone. That's why I'm teaming up with these guys." The difference between Mizuki and the rest of the Freedom Fighters was that she didn't really have a limit on what she was willing to do to achieve the goal. As a sociopath, things like morality or trying to be a hero didn't matter. Ends justifies the means, right? "But I can do this at least. It's what my mark is for."

Aria grit her teeth but as the snake grew a degree lighter than before Xavier grabbed her shoulder. "Don't stop her, just wait. Maybe she's onto something." He warned softly, knowing how much it killed the overprotective big sister to see Mizuki risking herself like this. Aria was like a prime example of someone with loss aversion. She feared losing what she had more than she lusted for gaining new things. It's a common trait in most people, but particularly strong in the dependent and emotionally fragile Aria. For as strong as she acted, she was weak-hearted in a very different way than Mizuki was. "She might die in there!" She tried to wrestle free but Xavier was too strong. And as Ronan ranted and raved and Mizuki let out a few choice whimpers - one hand clasped tight around her arm so that she wouldn't scratch at her veins - eventually Ronan's body was the one to give out first.

Leo had to stop it there, any further and who knew what damage would occur to Ronan. Taking this much darkness was dangerous, but hopefully it would have some lasting effects later on. "Save her? Only regret, what does he mean?" Aria asked pointedly. Mizu was hugging herself, nails clenched into the fabric of her sleeves so she wouldn't be tempted to scratch and claw. "Y-you didn't know? Ronan's Yui's br-brother... he's talking about her." She knew it because of her time as Raven's captive, she wasn't aware the people here didn't know. Yui knew too, so why hadn't she informed the rest of them about that fact yet? Once Ronan was stabilized, Leo turned to Mizu. "I have to sedate you now, okay?" He told her and she nodded, almost longing for the relief. "Otherwise the emotional affects of the darkness might agitate your heart." So he stuck her and she slumped in the wheelchair, looking almost like an innocent child once more.

Once it was finished it was time to report back to the table. Xavier told everyone what had happened after calling the family meeting. "Is it true, what Mizu said?" Aria asked Yui, trying not to sound confrontational against the fish that never wanted to hurt anyone. "You two are siblings? Why didn't you tell us?" She grit her teeth, taking deep calming breaths to try and calm her out-of-control spiraling thoughts. Calm. Lashing would only make Yui afraid. "Raven, did she say anything else? Please, tell us everything. We need to know." The more knowledge they had, the better they could crack the Black Reaper.

"It's okay, you can tell us." Ally was rubbing Yui's back and hugging her like a stuffed animal. "We won't judge or blame you for anything." She shot Aria a pointed look and the idol flinched, guilt dripping down her spine like a cold drenching waterfall. How truly pathetic she was for not even being able to handle her own thoughts.

"Wake up." A voice pierced the darkness and Aria felt like she was drowning in mollasses. She mumbled something inaudible and continued snoring. "Wake up." Still she remained in the realm of sleep, hardly even there at all, oblivious to her surroundings. "Big sis, my heart hurts, I'm going to-" Aria's eyes snapped open and she jumped out of bed, only to hit her head on the floor in her jump. Mizuki stared at her from the wheelchair. "You didn't have to be that dramatic." The Oracle sighed. It was still dark out, why was she even awake? And of course Mizu lied about her heart again. At this point if there was an emergency the idol was apt to just ignore it, thinking it was just fake. ...Well, maybe not. She knew better than to ever assume it was a lie.

"What do you want." Aria muttered, yawning. It wasn't even five in the morning, what did her devil sister have planned at this ungodly hour. "Training. If you want to get stronger, whining about it won't do anything. You have to work for it." Mizu grinned like the monster she was despite her tiny size, only bigger than Yui. "I still remember Mayumi's lessons for you, so come on. Let's get to work, big sis!" So against Aria's will she was dragged to the training room and for hours Mizu drilled her on trying to make her attacks smaller yet more potent. Ari always had a flair for the dramatic, and that was her problem. She wasted energy and power with dramatic flair, and that only blunted the edge her powers might have had otherwise. The sisters went at it all the way until breakfast was called

Aria was leaning against the rail, exhausted, every muscle in her body screaming for a break. Mizu just smiled at her dashingly, her evil coach who Ari wasn't sure wanted to help her or just bully her because she was bored and woke up strangely early. "Let me help you to the main floor where breakfast is." She created a cloud so the Oracle's wheelchair could go down the stairs and then she wheeled Mizu to the eating table where everyone was gathered. Apparently Damian had to fix what Yui and Xavier tried to make and Ally was taking pictures of it all. "You're with me today, Mizuki. We need to heal Ronan was quickly as possible." The Oracle gave a nod, knowing it was her duty. "Ally owes me a fun occasion for next time then!"

Aria was sporting a casual pink jacket with a black halter and a pleated red skirt underneath today. Since they'd be in the car until they got to the Aqua Park, the cold wouldn't kill her, so it was fine to dress a little down for today. It also made training easier, of course. "Oh, you look really good, Yui!" Ally beamed with pride. "That's my handiwork! Isn't she the cutest dressup doll ever?" For some reason there was something a little bit sad in Damian's eyes, as if he wanted to spend time with Ronan instead of go to the park with them. "Let's buy souvenirs for everyone at the Aqua Park." She told Damian, trying to ignore Xavier ruffling her hair for no apparent reason. The telepath gave a reluctant nod. He could spend time thinking of what to buy the Black Reaper, so maybe that'd be an inventive for him.

Xavier ruffled her hair again then. "Hey, what the heck are you doing? I worked hard on that!" She snapped, punching him across the cheek. He laughed as if this was the funniest thing in the world. "Because of your reactions, you're a blast!" Fuming red burned against her cheeks and so she kicked him in the shin for being an idiot.

"Aww, but we worked hard on that!" Yui watched as Damian put the rolled omelette back into the pan, fixing it up with a few more eggs, some milk, and some crumbled up nori sheets. "Then you should have asked me to cook with you instead of Xavier. He's useless in the kitchen Yui," the little fish puffed out her cheeks and crossed her arms. Damian laughed, patting her head. "Don't worry, you can help me make sandwiches for everyone for lunch." He said, using his chopsticks to turn the omelette and carefully transfer it to the plate. The fish was under cooked, so Damian pulled it out of the oven and finished it in the frying pan with some delicate spices to balance the flavors. "If you want to be successful at something, learn from the best, not the failures." Damian advised, putting both plates down at the table.

When breakfast was called, for real this time, Yui sat in her rightful place between Aria and Ally, taking Xavier's cue and clapping her hands together. "Thank you for the food!" The child sang before picking up her chopsticks and digging in. It was good, the omelette melting on her tongue and the fish flaky, but moist. "It's yummy," Yui said, having taken a few bites. It seemed that Damian put more effort into what he had prepared this morning, having to fix the mistakes of Yui and Xavier, who were nowhere near as talented as he was in the kitchen. Damian sighed, sipping his coffee. He looked up at Aria, who suggested that they shop for souvenirs at the aquarium and the boy seemed to perk up at the thought. "What should I get him?" Damian wondered aloud, a small smile tilting his lips upwards. Yui blushed when Aria complimented her, squirming in her seat. "Th-thank you!"

Ally took all of the credit for it, as she should considering the outfit was one of her design. She went on to call Yui the cutest dress up doll, which only made Yui blush further. Ping mewled loudly from underneath the table, it was clear that he wanted in on breakfast. Yui subtly fed him food from off of her plate, dropping little bits of egg and fish on the floor for him to gobble up. "Xavier, it's not nice to mess up a lady's hair!" Yui exclaimed, waving her fork at him. As though to make a point, Xavier reached over and tousled the wig Yui was wearing. It was Ally who fumed at this and reached over to fix it, mumbling about how unappreciative boys were of the art called beauty. "I think you look good too Aria!" Yui declared, a milk mustache left on her upper lip. Damian reached over like the fussy mother he was to wipe up the remnants of breakfast. "Yui learn to get more of the food in your mouth." He sighed and leaned back in his seat, shaking his head.

When the meal was over, Damian checked that they had everything packed before it was time to leave. Yui excitedly wore a backpack that served as a leash for Aria to hold so that she didn't run off similar to the way she had in Disneyland. They weren't bringing the stroller this time since the aquarium wasn't all that large. "Ping wants to come too!" Yui said as the family put their shoes on, lifting up the cat who meowed. "No," Ally spoke firmly. "Cats don't belong in the aquarium, they'll eat all of the fish and then Ping will go to cat jail." That was enough to scare Yui into leaving the cat behind. She clambered onto Aria's lap in the car since they had no proper car seat, revving to see the dolphins and penguins. "Damian showed me yesterday, they're birds, but they can't fly!" Yui babbled to her big sister, her eyes glittering with child like excitement.

"Mhm! Penguins are just like us!" Yui nodded her head in agreement when Aria reached out, almost whacking Damian. To the others, it might have been small, but to Yui, the aquarium was huge. From the moment they pulled up she was dancing with excitement, jumping out of the car so that she could look up at the stadium that housed the attractions. Yui shivered ever so slightly in her jacket, the cold air getting to her for only a moment. They all hustled inside of the building, the warmth thawing Yui instantly. Ally retrieving their wrist bands to prove that they paid for their tickets and Yui held out her wrist, Damian gently wrapping the wrist band around it, making sure that it wasn't too tight due to Yui's sensory issues. The child gazed at the sparkly wristband, which danced in the light, enamored by the pattern for but a moment.

Damian knelt down to her level, using Yui's fake name and holding out the map. "Hmm," Yui debated, seeing what was closest to them. "I think we should start on the first floor first, then explore the second floor, then go to the first dolphin show!" Yui declared, that way they could see everything! They would break for lunch after the dolphin show, then finish up the rest of the aquarium and be back in time for dinner. "Closest to us right now are the Magical Ground and the Jellyfish Ramble," Damian informed them, which meant that they would get to do what Damian and Aria wanted to explore first. The group meandered down the hall, Yui making sure not to run ahead in excitement so that the leash wouldn't tug at her chest. "Look, look, there it is!" Yui pointed to the Magical Ground, which had no line. They were the first ones at the aquarium, having gotten there when it just opened in order to avoid a possible crowd. Although, seeing that it was a school day it was highly unlikely that anyone other than a group of children might be there.

"I'm not a real fish Ari, don't leave me here!" The child panicked, clinging to her big sister.

Yui carefully selected her seahorse, a blue one with dazzling white fins and a sparkly mane. "Um Ari, can you help me get up?" Yui asked, unable to clamber onto the seahorse on her own. "Thank you!" Once seated atop her stead, Yui strapped in and held on tight, squealing in delight when the ride started and they went in several slow circles. It was just like Disneyland! Around and around along with the song, which Yui was humming by the end. Her smile was wide, her eyes sparkling until the Magical Ground slowed and the lights ceased their dancing to signal that their time had come to an end. "Aww, can we go again?" The blue eyed child inquired once they were off the ride. There was no line and it wasn't as though they were in a hurry.

Ronan awoke to a cold hand on his arm. He peeled open one eye, glaring at the girl who was touching him. "Get off of me," Ronan grumbled, clearly not a morning person. The drugs were making him feel sluggish and he tugged at the binds keeping him strapped down as though to test them. "Don't provoke him," Leo warned, but it was too late. Ronan's eyes snapped open and he thrashed, startling both the Resident and Xavier. "What did you say to me you dumb bi**?" Ronan growled. It was clear that the sedatives last night had been what made him confess to that small sin. "I can rip your throat out faster than you can blink," he hissed dangerously, straining against the restraints so that he could wrap both of his hands around Mizuki's throat and put an end to her pathetic existence. Leo carefully applied a muscle relaxer, but Ronan still continued to pull at the straps, wide awake now.

Following Yui's read they arrived at the Magical Ground, a merry go round where aquatic creatures replaced the horses. For safety reasons Aria wasn't allowed to keep hold of the leash so instead she tied Yui to the pole of the seahorse so she wouldn't fall off. "Up you go, you little fish." She helped her up and then took the one directly behind her, a shark. That suited her, didn't it? Damian was on Yui's left on a dolphin, and Ally was ahead of him riding a sea otter. And music began and they turned and turned. "Watch out, or my shark will eat your seahorse, Honoka!" Aria cackled like an evil villain from behind Yui. If no one was watching she'd be tempted to cast an illusion of a shark to catch up to the fish, but she couldn't do that. Not in public, at least.

"Well... why not? Let's go again!" Damian seemed to be beginning to enjoy himself despite being separated from the object of his affections. He wasn't yet okay, but at least this was possible for him now.

After another round they went to the next attraction on the first floor, the Jellyfish Ramble. The dark room was nice and soothing to Aria, who always did like darker lights. The glow of the jellyfish cylinders was almost hypnotic as it beamed luminescently at anyone entering the area. The bubbles lighting up the walls in it's many colors was almost addicting to just stare it. "Oh, wow, it's quite the view." Ally took in a little gasp of pleasure, taking out her phone. "Here, take a picture for us." She tossed it at a random staff member who had the four of them line up in front of the biggest jellyfish tank as they swam and oozed around strangely. Flash, the phone went and Ally took it with grace. "Hehe, the others are gonna be so jealous!" The Heiress showed them the picture. "You really look like a pet, Honoka." Aria snorted upon seeing the leash. "If you just learned not to run off all the time you could be promoted to human like the rest of us, y'know?"

After they finished with the Jellyfish Ramble, Damian took Aria's arm. "Let's get a few drinks. Got any requests?" After Ally and Yui ordered Aria and Damian set off to get them from the Coral Cafe Bar. Non-alcoholic of course, the liquor would only be served for the late night visitors. Once the coast was clear, Ally had an almost shy look on her face. "Now, boys love is clearly the God's gift to the world." She said, but then slipped her phone to Yui with an image displayed, one she drew herself. One of Aria and Mizuki kissing. "Yes, it's weird because they're sisters... but the way they fight all the time, I couldn't help it!" Fanart of the Matsuri sisters, Mizu obviously domming over poor defenseless Aria. "Because let's be real, even if they fight all the time, you know they love each other."

Don't provoke the Black Reaper? But with him so vulnerable and restrained, what else was she supposed to do? It's like he was asking to be bullied for being tied up like this, wasn't it? "You don't like a girl's body on yours?" Mizuki taunted, pressing her minuscule chest against his arm. Xavier let out a grunt of disapproval. "Mizu, don't do that. This isn't a game, we need you to stay serious." But the Oracle obviously wasn't too keen on listening. How often would she get the chance to bully poor Ronan like this? She giggled and blinked at his threat. "Oh, sorry, you're too late. I already blinked, see? I'll blink again!"

He was fighting, still acting tough, but he needed to realize something that might not have gotten through his dumb skull yet. "You're powerless here, y'know. You can't make me get off even if you tried." Even if he managed to break the restraints, the inhibitors were still blocking his powers. Every night when he was asleep they would replace the capacitors on the inhibitors with new ones so there wouldn't be a risk of them burning out. Not breaking contact with the snake, she climbed up and planted a kiss right on Ronan's mouth. "No matter how hard you fight, you can't stop me from doing whatever I-" Leo suddenly tabbed the glass with his stick. "Stop playing around or I'll just put him to sleep again." He warned. Fine, Mizu crawled back into her wheelchair, pouting.

Well, still, there was nothing Ronan could do about the situation. So instead she decided to play around with blood tails, causing them to burst out from behind her. She then played and made them make various shadow puppets, telling a story about a rabbit getting eaten by a snake. "I'm the snake, by the way." She said cheerfully. "You can be the rabbit, Ronan!"

They were walking back to the others now, everyone with a drink. Aria had warm oolong tea in a starfish-like cup, something that entertained her in a strange way. "If it wasn't for the extra baggage that was forced on us, we all could be enjoying the trip here." Instead, Xavier, Leo, and Mizuki were forced to stay behind, they weren't allowed to join. And as long as they had Ronan, could they ever really have a full family outing? "We'll make the extra baggage join the family too." Damian said with an almost distant kind of smile, stars clear in his eyes. "He's her sister, don't you think this can be a good thing?" Aria scoffed, waving off the telepath. He really was completely enamored by Jenny's murderer, wasn't he? "I don't think I can ever accept him as one of us, even if he changes." He had too many crimes to make up for.

"Here are the drinks!" He gave Yui her jellyfish and Ally got to sip tea out of an anemone. She seemed a little disappointed the anemone wasn't actually fuzzy, it was just a ceramic mug made in a certain shape. "A human wouldn't need a leash, now would she?" Aria didn't notice Ally's almost guilty stare as she shuffled her phone back into her pocket. It was time for the next attraction and so they moved up to the second floor to first visit the Wonder Tube. The sea looked almost impossibly expansive around them. Ally grinned to herself as she saw it. "This is all thanks to VorTech!" She said with beaming pride. "This amount of detail and draw distance was impossible before our best engineers got on the job!" She gestured wildly at the screens. "Look at the hyper-real imaging! Ten times more detail than the human eye is capable of!"

Aria was impressed, but not by the last part. "If it's more detailed than the human eye, that means we can't even see the amount of detail." She said pointedly, causing Allyana to scoff, clearly enjoying herself. "That just means your eyes aren't high-class enough!" High class was always her last insult of defense, wasn't it? They finished the tube, and what was next now? One child ran past them, almost dragging his parents along. "The sea otters are doing a show!" He yelped in that annoying way children could. "Let's watch, maybe the trainer will let us pet!" Aria glanced at Yui curiously. "So, Honoka, does that sound intriguing?"

The choking was interesting. She could have attacked with her blood tails when he grabbed her but she was more curious as to what Ronan thought he could do. Really, with Xavier here and Leo able to block all of his senses whenever he pleased, did Ronan really think escape was possible? Leo had control over pretty much his entire body thanks to the chemicals he had on him at all times. There was nothing Ronan could do but accept his fate. And so he smashed her into the wall and threw her. Just like all pain it didn't fully register. If anything, it felt kind of nice. That wasn't to say she was a masochist - far from it - but pain was a very nice break from the constant monotone grey she had. Wasn't the endless grey the reason why she was always trying to stimulate herself with games or making people mad?

Xavier wasn't able to beat him, but the real threat was Leo, and Leo proved his skills with a single move. Ronan slumped and fell back down and Mizuki wriggled as she held her arm, a very faint blush on her cheeks. "Next time if you don't take this seriously I'll just do it the normal way." He reprimanded her. Mizu felt bored again. No one here was willing to hurt her and break the monotony of emotionless, of not feeling anything. Ronan... he was the only one that didn't look down on her for being sick, he was the only one that felt welcome to attack her. And for some reason the Oracle found herself craving it again. Self harm wasn't really her jig - it just didn't hurt enough to break the wall of grey. But being slammed into the wall like this?

Maybe she wouldn't mind having t done to her again. "Okaaaay." She said, wheeling herself out for Leo to examine her for injuries. Other than bruising - especially around her back - she would just fine. He then gave her medicine for the maggots. "I mean it, Mizuki." He scolded her again. "I know! I'll be good, promise!" Maybe next time she would just 'accidentally' release a cuff.

Anything to break the endless nothing.

The aquarium was already spawning further guests, the attraction popular with the locals. Yui would have to be careful to respond to her code name the first time, least they wanted to arouse suspicion. "An otter show?" Yui debated, weighing their options. "Let's go!" The child smiled, pointing in the direction the father and son duo were heading. Yui stood on tip toes, attempting to gaze inside of the tank, but alas, she was too short. It was Damian who noticed her struggle and knelt down to sweep Yui off of her feet and onto his shoulders, Yui squealed, covering her mouth when she realized how loud she was. Now the child could properly see the otters, who were like little furry puppies that swam in water. "Water puppies!" Yui decided, her smile wide. She clapped her hands along with the music, the otters performing little tricks like breaking a clam open on a rock or diving into the water and swimming through a hoop.

They weren't allowed to pet them, which Yui found unfortunate, but overall the show was very enjoyable. Next to the otters were the seals, which Yui also gave a silly name to. "Blubber whispers," she said with wide eyes, watching as they swam like graceful mermaids through the water in torpedo motions. "They're so cute!" Yui squealed in delight, tapping the glass. One seal swam by slowly, deliberately, clearly as enamored by Yui as the child was by it. The seal stopped in front of the display and Yui quieted, almost seeming to silently communicate with her wide blue eyes. Finally she turned back towards Aria, Damian, and Ally, seeming a bit haunted as she whispered. "He doesn't like it in there." Ally's eyebrows shot up and for a moment she had to question if Yui really was a fish.

Their next stop were the penguins, which Yui was especially excited for. She tapped her feet excitedly, tugging endlessly on the leash to go faster and pushing her forehead up against the glass. "They're so cute! Just like how I imagined them!" Damian laughed, "No silly names?" He inquired, having seen penguins at the zoo before. "No, they're penguins!" Yui pointed out a particularly fat one. "Can we take him home?" She batted her baby blues at Aria in the hopes to procure some sort of Bambi-eyed effect. "Please? He's so big and fluffy! Look at him! I bet he likes fish too! He can live with Ping!" Yui looked back at the penguins as they jumped into the water, swimming not so gracefully in what looked like a game of tag.

"They're so silly," Yui giggled, her eyes bright. For the time it seemed as though all of the damage that Ira Shoku had done was almost erased. Yui was back to her normal, childish self. Damian almost felt guilty, withdrawing the information that Yui was not as young as they all thought her to be. For now he would indulge her and perhaps a bit later he would reveal to Aria and Xavier the little girl's true age, which according to Ronan, who wasn't the most reliable source of information, was nearly 15. For now, Yui could be ten, heck, if she wanted, she could be five, so long as she got to enjoy life as something other than the symbol and possibly the most powerful weapon that everyone expected her to become.

"Nope, penguins are penguins!" Yui's smile was wide, her forehead had been pressed up against the glass. She could smell them from here, their salty stench permeating her nose. Perhaps Yui didn't want a penguin after all, not if they smelled like old fish and cold ocean. Yui smiled, despite their stinky smell, she thoroughly enjoyed her visit with the seabirds, her only desire being to pet them. Slowly, the other's interests in the flightless birds waned and Yui was pulled to visit the other exhibits, one being the sea life in the jungle, which contained tanks full of colorful fish and strange looking reptiles, and another about swamp life; that one had scary looking creatures which made Yui hide behind Aria.

When they took a break for lunch, Yui sat between Aria and Ally and Damian ordered her a kids meal, which were a bunch of fish sticks shaped like sea creatures and a side of rice. Yui didn't eat her rice, which Damian shoveled into his mouth happily, but she did drink down the juice and played with the toy that came with the meal. "Thank you for the food," Yui said to the Heiress in earnest. It was almost time for the noon dolphin show, but first they had one more ride. Yui sat beside Aria for this one, in the front row of the ship. The boat slowly began to move and soon they were rocking back and forth, Yui squealing whenever something jumped out of the water and scared her, or if the water splashed her. She clung to Aria, as though her big sister could protect her from the imaginary danger of the projected images.

"I'm okay," Yui promised when they exited the ride. Yui jumped down the steps, taking the offered paper towel from Damian in order to dry herself off. "All clean!" At long last, it was time to make their way towards the dolphin stadium. The ring was large, with seats going around 180 degrees of it. "I want to sit in the front row! Can we? Can we please?" A trickle of people had filed in, but there was plenty of room. Once situated, Yui turned to Ally and smiled. "Thank you Ally! Even if you said you don't need it," music began to play and bubbles rained down from the ceiling, the show had begun. It captivated the little fish, holding her attention from beginning to end.

The dolphins leaped gracefully from their pool in time with the music, the lights dancing to stir an energy that got the crowd clapping. Yui jumped to her feet, wondering how on earth the dolphins could perform such tricks. Damian tugged Yui back down, not wanting to draw attention to themselves. "They're so good! How do they do that? Are the dolphins just that smart?" The child wanted to know everything about the mammals, some of which the instructors explained. When it was over, Yui stared, wide eyed, at the tank as the dolphins swam by one last time before disappearing into their sanctuary. "That was amazing!" Yui squealed, her eyes twinkling.

Yui dashed off almost as soon as the fighting began. They had gotten into an argument - Raven and the Fox obviously taking the position that it was best if Yui came to her senses and fought, but obviously Yui's family was firmly against that, even Mizuki was putting aside her clown face in order to play the role of the Oracle. "She doesn't want it, Raven!" Aria shouted, throwing out her arm to block either Raven or the Fox trying to follow her. Did they really think she wasn't strong enough? "I can do it! I'm strong!" Desperation and worthlessness welled up in her chest... this was probably her final chance to prove she was finally good for something. "Sorry, Aria, but you aren't that good." Raven said simply. "Yui's the only one strong enough to fight in that position."

"I've been training her." Mizuki said with a smile, teeth bared. "She's better than you think she is now, Raven." While the first line was true, it was only one training session. Aria hadn't actually grown that much stronger yer. She was still too weak, she still didn't have what it took. But she wanted the chance... one last chance to prove that she could grow into the role she had chosen for herself. Her Spider Lily was strong and deserved someone equally as worthy. "Can it at least wait a bit before we make the decision?" Xavier asked, and Raven glared at him dismissively. The girl that pretended to be friendly from before had all but disappeared. "Excuse me, but while you were all off lounging in the Undersea, the war was only escalating here. My Ikebukuro base is all but gone, so I need to take my mother's base on Chiyoda as soon as possible." The Fox shuddered, as if remembering the raid. "VorTech just replaced all of the weapons we stole from Setagaya that day... with much higher tech level than what they had before." So the whole attack on Setagaya had to have backfired, then.

Wait, if Ikebukuro was gone, then - "Yes, so we'll be staying here. In two days the operation against the Matriarch will begin. Anyone who wants to help win the war against Shoku, join me. If you want to lose and for Yui to get kidnapped again, just remain stubborn." So it seemed the two executives of Raven's faction would be staying here in Shinagawa with them for the time being. Raven ended up in front of Yui's room then, and only then did she let her hair down. "Can I come in?" She asked Yui in a much softer voice than the harsh one she had adopted when talking to the rest of the team. "I'm sorry if you were scared by what I want you to do. I know it's hard for someone as nice as you."

"But Aria wants to do your job for you, and she isn't strong enough to handle it alone." Her mind was already adapting to the situation to find a way for Yui to agree to help, if even in a non-combative position. "Can you be Aria's support, then? If she gets in over her head, it can be your job to make sure the two of you get out safely, but otherwise you don't have to do anything." Someome heard her speaking and came to interfere. It was Allyana, and she was very displeased by this. "You don't have to listen to her, Yui." The Heiress said with a hard edge on her tongue. "We never agreed to fight for you in this matter." But Raven even had a plan for Ally's dissent. "The Oracle is dying. I hacked into her records and her heart is deteriorating faster because of the work she put in for Ronan."

It was the truth, but the Oracle was doing her utmost to hide it and Leo seemed almost obligated to maintain the confidentiality. Ally ground her teeth. Obviously no matter how abrasive she was, the Heiress didn't want Aria's sister to die. "The equipment to save her life exists in Chiyoda." Raven was using this card again and honestly it was compelling. "Furthermore, by doing this we're on the fast track to finish the war. After we take out my mother we'll be able to consolidate our power and land the finishing strike on the Roppongi Building. We can save many lives that way, instead of prolonging the conflict." She smiled as winningly as she could. "And I'm sure both you and Yui care about saving as many lives as possible and finally bringing about peace. for Japan."

"In my own little corner, in my own little chair," Yui hummed, attempting to soothe her sorrowful soul from the places it tried to wander. The girl could recall that white little room, the hum and buzz of machines which meant someone else was in control. Now Raven was here, attempting to take the reigns on Yui's life, to mold her into something the child never wanted to be. "On the wings of my fancy, I can fly anywhere," her small voice warbled. Yui wrapped her shaking arms around herself in an attempt to comfort her ailing mind. A soft knocking came from the door a few minutes after the girl had retreated, a few moments after Yui had finished calming herself and was wrapped in the safety of the plush blanket on her bed. She had cocooned her body and with a voice barely above a whisper, answered to the knock. "Come in," Yui was expecting Aria or Xavier, she hadn't been anticipating Raven to enter.

The light bearer stiffened, clearly uneasy. Raven began by apologizing, but even so, the child was already on guard. "I don't want to become another Bad Reaper," Yui whispered, the fear evident in her inflection and posture. Her cerulean eyes were wide and haunted, recalling the horrors that Shoku had inflicted on her in an attempt to make the child dark. Slowly, Yui removed the wig Ally had donned her up in this morning and placed it on the seat beside her, revealing her bald head and the scars that were slowly healing. Yui's ear feathers unfurled, snowy white in the same hue as an angel's wings. "I don't like fighting," Yui hadn't asked to become a Freedom Fighter, she had essentially been adopted by them and they, at least, respected her will to not fight. Although that could be the result of her adopted family remaining clueless as to her true identity. Other than the fact that Yui's real name was Loretta Hemond, they knew next to nothing about the child.

"You're wrong," Yui looked up to meet Raven's eyes, "Aria is strong, she just needs the chance to prove it." Perhaps they believed that Aria didn't have what it took to fight against the dark forces that lurked in the streets of New Tokyo, but Yui had faith, even if no one else saw the potential within the idol. Yui hesitated at the proposition, she wouldn't have to do anything, it would only be if Aria got in over her head. Before the child could say anything, however, Ally came to the rescue, forcing her way past Raven and positioning herself on the end of the bed where Yui was sitting, bundled up in her little cocoon. Raven made another compelling point, arguing that Mizuki wouldn't last much longer and if they wanted the technology to sustain her dying body, they would need to take over the base from the Matriarch in Chiyoda.

"It's okay Ally," Yui spoke quietly, her decision having been made. If it was for her family, for the people that rescued her, then Yui would do it. "I'll be Aria's backup," it was clear that this was a pained decision and not one that Yui wanted to make. She had faith in Aria, sure, but Yui also knew that while the wind user was capable of making dramatic and powerful gestures, she was aware that the enemy they would be fighting was one that they would all need to cooperate to beat. As long as Yui needn't undergo any painful procedures, she would do it. It wasn't as if Raven was going to stab Yui with a syringe full of darkness while she was sleeping in order to turn Yui into a weapon.... was she?

With that settled, they had a day to prepare. Aria and Mizuki continued her training during the morning, but at night Mizu had an appointment at the underground casino - Shoku may have made tighter restrictions on gambling in Japan, but the criminal minds just made an underground one that Shoku's people wouldn't be able to touch - where she planned on gambling her way to gain control of the Yakuza. Tsukasa had said that the former members of the mob were no longer motivated to keep fighting - Mizu would provide them with a legend to rally behind. Using her skill at reading people and at guessing and memorizing card positions in the deck and her opponent's hands, Mizu was able to win up and up until she became well known as the Gambling Queen of the Shinagawa Ward. By the end of the day she was successful and garnered the support and hearts of the former Yakuza, reinvigorating their will to fight for Tokyo.

After the training with Mizuki, Aria wasn't sure what to do. They still had half a day left, so she decided she might as well continue training and practicing her techniques. The sad truth was that despite how the Freedom Fighters seemed to look up to her, she really did have quite the abysmal record. She lost to the Black Reaper, she lost to Xavier, she would definitely lose to Yui... hell, she even lost to Mizuki who was using a weaker version of her power at the time. "I don't know why you believe in me." She confided in Yui once she was too tired to keep training. Even then she hardly felt any progress. "I haven't really won any fights on my own." Pathetic and weak. What good was a protector that couldn't protect anything? With guilt and misery she clung to Yui, wondering how to make it up to her little fish for all the times she failed.

Raven and the Fox being at the base was certainly strange. While Raven had made the strategy for them to follow, she was certainly always open for her plans to be analyzed. The more minds working on it, the better, really. So that was what Damian and Ally were doing, sitting at the table with her. They spent hours going over every last detail and soldier positioning to figure out the best way to launch the attack on Shinagawa. And finally they decided on the optimal route to enter Chiyoda. Obviously with Minato between Shinagawa and Chiyoda, that route was impossible. But there was a blizzard scheduled to come tomorrow night. Under cover of the blizzard Xavier could transport them little by little through Shibuya and Shinjuku Wards in order to attack Chiyoda from the east side. They would also group up with the rest of Raven's HIVE at that point. Damian, and Leo would be staying back at the base to guard Ronan, of course, which meant the fighters for this mission would be Xavier, Aria, Mizuki, Ally and Yui. Normally Ally would be staying behind... but she didn't feel comfortable letting Yui in Raven's presence without her there to interrupt. Mizu, too, should have remained in the base but she insisted to accompany Raven in the tank to make sure there wouldn't be a sudden betrayal on her end.

Finally it was tomorrow. There were a few hours left, and the blizzard was already beginning to pick up. The afternoon sun would soon wane and that would be their signal to begin the march. "Don't forget what I told you, sis." Mizu told Aria again, because Ari's job as Yui's primary escort was the most important one. "Keep your emotions out of it, they only clog up your judgment. Your only priority is Yui - the random HIVE soldiers are worthless. You have to choose between protecting Yui and being a Hero - you can't have both." While it was true, Ari wasn't sure she could just throw away her morals and kill. Even though a part of her really wanted to do it so she too could be strong, she didn't want to stain her soul with the burden of murder. She didn't want Yui to be afraid of her. "I'll try my best." Was all she said in response to that.

They were gathered in the lobby in their best winter clothes for the HIVE Usurping Operation. Xavier had contacted Hime and got the official approval to turn against the Matriarch. Raven kept her eyes trained on the window, waiting for the sky to darken for them to begin. The blizzard was very intense, the worst Tokyo had in the past ten years. Most likely once the snow-melt workers got to work (since obviously a city can't run when the streets are completely filled in snow) there was a very real risk of some of the wards closer to the sea might flood. Ally held Jenny's gun in her hands. Since Jenny's death, she had been training as a marksman. She would never reach Jenny's skill and speed, but Allyana was now a very good shot in her own right. "It'll be okay, Yui." The two were sharing a hot chocolate together. "Just think of this as the first step to finish the war. With Mizu training Ari, you won't have to fight at all!" She wiped her hot chocolate moustache and giggled. "Let's end this war with style!"

The smell of dinner brought Yui out of her room. The sun had already set, the cold winter wind howling in the windows. Damian had prepared soup to warm their frozen bones and plenty of hot, hard cider for the adult crowd. For the children, aka Yui and Mizuki, there was hot apple juice with a cinnamon stuck in it for an extra kick of warmth. Yui sipped at her broth, feeling especially tired after the roller coaster of emotions she had experienced. The dolphin show stuck with her and the child had a small smile when she crawled into bed, waiting for Aria to come snuggle. "Goodnight," Yui whispered, knowing that the next day was going to be full of activity. By the time Yui awoke, Aria had already gone to train. Ally came to dress Yui, choosing a warm pair of leggings and an over sized sweater that was lined with fake fur. "No dress today?" Yui inquired and Ally shook her head.

"You're training today, it's not appropriate for a lady to wear a dress while exercising!" Damian had prepared a quick breakfast today since everyone was bustling around the base in preparation. Even Leo was getting things ready, having the weekend off of work since it was a short holiday. Once Yui was finished eating, Xavier meandered in to find her. "I'm going to teach you some important self defense moves today, okay?" Yui nodded, finishing her toast and following him to the living room, the furniture having all been pushed aside so that they could practice. Xavier drilled Yui on moves that she couldn't use her abilities for, on using the weight of her opponent in order to propel herself forward. It was around lunch time when Yui finally got a break and Damian emerged from the planning room in order to cook.

Aria and Mizuki at last emerged from their training and Yui went right over to her big sister, her ear feathers ruffling as she ran to give her a hug. "Believe in yourself," the little girl said in earnest, taking a step back. "That's the first step." When lunch was over they went straight back into training, Xavier making Yui do various exercises to ensure that she wouldn't get distracted or overwhelmed during the battle. He played loud music and construction sounds, including explosions and gunfire, which Yui had all but shut down during. "Yui, if you want to be Aria's back up, you need to be strong." Xavier said, clearly concerned about her inability to remain focused. "It's scary," Yui whimpered, huddled on the ground with her hands over her ears.

The next day, Yui awoke alone once more, Aria no doubt going to get in more practice. Ally dressed Yui in a pair of black leggings and a pink shirt with cute little rabbits all over it, making sure that even though they were going into battle, that Yui looked her best. When Yui went to the breakfast table, she realized that the sun had yet to rise. "It's early," Yui whispered while Damian prepared squares of french toast. Yui managed to nibble down a half a piece, her stomach a flutter with nervous butterflies. When it was time to go, they all stood in the lobby, Raven putting together last minute things while Ally and Yui enjoyed a drink of hot chocolate with little marshmallows inside. "I'm scared," Yui admitted, her hands shaking ever so slightly. "What if Aria gets hurt because of me?"

Aria had never wanted to be a murderer. She never wanted to take lives. She just wanted to be a hero. Was it a hero's duty to kill those who stood in her way? In that case, what made her any different from them? What made her qualified to call herself a warrior of the light, then? But she couldn't - she needed to block it all out for now. Later it would be time to cry, for now she just had to focus on the mission. Little did she know under her glove, the spider lily growing the slightest bit grey, because light bearers who were pure were never really meant to kill at all. "Sorry for scaring you, Yui. Let's keep going." Leaving the corpses behind they continued their trek, fighting against former allies. Some of them had been on their side during the Setagaya Operation, others were present in the Camp Epsilon Operation.

And now they were dead, just like countless others Xavier, Ally, and the Fox were dealing with, just like those being rolled over by Raven and her tank and her own soldiers. Was this what it meant to be a hero? To be willing to give up on people's lives in order to save those close to you? Killing these people just for a chance for Yui and Mizuki to live happily? No, tune it all out, tune everything out but the mission. A dragon of air blew apart the others Yui noticed, acting as a living radar for her to spot enemies through the freezing gale that enveloped New Tokyo. "Raven's a genius, as evil as she is, she knows what she's doing." Raven wouldn't start this operation against the Matriarch if she didn't have a few dozen plans to handle anything the pretty in pink villain could summon against her. "As long as we follow her orders we'll be fine." They were outnumbered, but strategy and talent could trump numbers if they needed to.

Xavier's voice sounded on the intercom next. "When I was with the Matriarch - it's hard to remember exactly, since I was so drugged up half the time... but I remember she had a light bearer." Xavier's voice was in warning, as if he just recalled it now. "What's her power?" Raven asked, this was most certainly news to her. So there was information hidden even from her? This must be something truly top secret, then. "I don't know." Was Xavier's lame answer. Raven sighed audibly. "Everyone, be careful. The enemy has a light bearer, their power and skill are unknown. Don't engage without sufficient back up." Aria and Yui went past the alley to go past a busy intersection. With news of the fighting reaching the Enforcers, they were working on mass-evacuating the civilians to take them to safety zones in order to not be in the crossfire of this 'gang violence', according to the media. Yurei was doing her best on the radio waves to paint this as one of Shoku's lies, but who knew how many people believed her and her light-bearer sympathetic ways?

"Be careful, you two." Someone, a very familiar voice warned as they tried to blend in with the evacuating civilian crowd. It was Natsuo who had noticed them somehow. Aria wasn't going to say anything so she wouldn't confirm her identity. "Shoku knows there's a fight happening. Enforcer radio chatter says they found the Black Reaper." The Shinagawa Base was small... how likely was it that Ronan was able to eavesdrop and now was relaying all of their plans to his master? "We'll make this quick." Aria replied and then took Yui to the alley. Soon they'd be reaching what used to be the Yasukuni Shrine, which was now the Matriarch's pink and nauseating dollhouse. "Be very careful. You guys are too far up, so go slowly." Mizu warned.

After relaying Natsuo's warning to Raven, Yui let her know that she could no longer sense anything. "Don't worry, with my air I can-" Wait, what? Why wasn't anything coming out? She thrust her arm out again but nothing happened in the slightest. This was bad, this was very bad. Then suddenly static in her earpiece, now that they were at the Dollhouse their headsets were no longer working. "It's too dangerous like this, we have to turn back." But then she heard it, the very faint shing of something sharp. Aria threw her arm out to cover for Yui and then the knife went in, deep enough to touch the bone. Who was it, who had thrown it, and why were they aiming at Yui?

A sickly sweet voice in their ears, hacking into their headsets. The Matriarch was speaking. "You two should just give it up, darlings. I don't understand the reason for this betrayal, weren't we so friendly once upon a time?" It was a distraction, so Aria broke her headset. "Break yours too, Yui, don't listen to her crap." The enemy was closing in, they couldn't get sidetracked by the Matriarch's sugary words.

"There's an enemy!" Aria shouted at Yui. "Stay close-" Another knife was thrown and if Aria was paying less attention it would have struck her through the eye. She tore the knife out of her arm and threw it back wildly, knowing it wouldn't hit anything. "Why can't I use my power?" Then the voice was right next to her, oddly familiar. "Because of me." Then a gun was brandished. Out of instinct Aria kicked it and knocked it into the snow somewhere. If it was Jenny, the enemy would have been able to kill her before she could kick fast enough.
"Yui, find and stomp on the gun!" Aria yelled. "Don't let-" Another knife swung far too close to her throat. "Oh, Sinner, please. As if you could ever beat me." Now Aria knew the voice. She knew very well who it was.

"Daisy." Unlike Minapon who was a friendly rival and duo partner, Daisy was a vehement enemy. Daisy's songs were the light to the Sinner's dark, and they were never able to get along. Even if their fans enjoyed shipping them together, the two idols despised one another. "It's the edgy bitch Little Sinner!" Daisy mocked through the howling storm. "Careful you don't cut yourself on that edge!" Aria grinned, blood rising, ready for the fight. "At least my songs have substance, unlike your bland happy bull!" Aria grabbed at the second fallen knife and used it to block Daisy's next attack. Their knives clashed like two swordsmen would in a deadlock. But unlike Aria who was acting on instinct, Daisy was highly trained with guns and knives.

Then there was a roar around them. Raven had arrived in her tank. "We're here, Nemesis!" The dark genius called, entering the no-radio zone. "You're surrounded, enemy light bearer. Hands up and surrender if you want to live!" In the blizzard, no one noticed a helicopter flying overhead. Especially when a certain GPS tracker Ronan placed on the tank had been a bomb this entire time. And now was the ideal time for it to blow. Aria dove for Yui and grabbed her, covering her ears as the tank exploded into a heap of shrapnel and misery. Raven's strategies relied on Shoku not finding out about the fight until it was too late, that was why she waited for the blizzard. But because of a certain Black Reaper's escape, the main enemy was notified and hurried to take advantage of the spoils of war.

And now it was game over. The helicopter descended and a ladder was pulled out. Daisy vanished during the explosion, of course. Aria knew she had to act quick, so she hoisted Yui onto her back. "Don't let go, no matter what!" Maybe Mizu was still alive. And maybe she could save Raven too. Aria sprinted into the fire and the debris and grabbed at the first hand she saw. It was Mizuki. But someone else had the same idea and on the other side of the destroyed tank, with Yui still on her back, Aria saw Ira Shoku being lifted into the air on the ladder, Raven in his arms like a princess. "I'll be back for you later, Subject." Ira Shoku informed them as if he were commenting on the weather. "First I believe I should discipline my daughter for trying getting too big of a head. Tell my ex-wife we should have a nice family reunion."

Aria didn't have a hope. With Yui on her back and Mizu in her arms - coughing and wheezing and looking seriously burned from the explosion -, there was nothing she could do to save Raven. Mizu's words echoed in her mind. Focus only on Yui, get Yui to safety at all cost. So Aria dashed off to where Xavier, Ally, and the Fox were supposed to be. This mission was a failure. But someone cut off her escape. Pretty in pink, there she was. "The Oracle is not going to survive those burns without immediate help." She said, looking gravely as the helicopter disappeared into the blizzard. "If you want to save her, you'll have to come with me. Aria blinked blood out of her eyes and shook her head. "I'll die first! Yui, hold close, I'm gonna get us to Xavier!" She tried to create a cloud but her air was still blocked. "Noise, don't let them escape." Daisy was behind them, holding up a new pistol. "Don't get any ideas." She grinned. "Or do you really think you can dodge with your hands full?" The girl in her arms coughed. "L-let me die." She pleaded, looking inches from death. Despite being charred, her violet eyes shone bright. "T-take Yui and g-get out of here. I'm just... a burden."

"Don't talk like that." Aria snapped, tearing her eyes away, trying to find the best escape route. Maybe if she kicked the Matriarch Daisy would be too surprised to move and they could get away. "I'm going to save us." For some reason those violet eyes teared up. "I'm already dead!" She shouted and rolled out of Aria's arms into the piling snow. "Just go! You like Yui more anyways!" She was using the last of her strength to bark orders. Aria reached for her again, not intending to leave her behind. If they should just get to Xavier, maybe his powers were still working, and then maybe Leo would have an emergency medical station set up to save her. If, if, too many ifs, but what else did she have?

Yui's heart beat quickly in her throat. She had been splattered by Aria's blood when her big sister moved to protect her and Yui reached out to try and sense where the enemy was coming from. Things were moving too quickly and Aria was suddenly above her, protecting Yui from the explosion. The child huddled in Aria's arms, the sound too loud, the flash too bright. Shell shocked, Yui hardly resisted when Aria lifted her onto her back and ran towards the wreckage. They pulled Mizuki out, trying to find an exit, but they were surrounded. Even when Mizuki threw herself at the feet of her enemy, it was obvious that there was no way out. "Mizuki," Yui whispered, "we're outnumbered." She slid off of Aria's back and stepped between them, knowing that Mizuki would give anything to protect Yui, but Yui wanted to show her that she needn't sacrifice herself, Mizuki was worth as much as everyone else, even if she didn't believe so.

Aria was gravely injured, Mizuki was dying, even if they somehow fought their way past the army of HIVE agents that had shown up to protect their Master, they wouldn't make it to the meeting point; not if Aria bled to death. "We'll go with you," Yui said quietly, knowing that their other option was to go down in a fight. The Matriarch's smile became a Cheshire grin as she gestured to Daisy-er-Noise. Yui held out her hands, expecting them to be handcuffed or something, but instead, Noise grabbed her wrist. "Take the Cocoon inside, I'll handle these two," the Matriarch said as four HIVE agents rushed out with two stretchers. Noise tugged and Yui stumbled, looking over her shoulder until the child could no longer see them. Had she made the right decision? Yui wasn't certain, but she hoped that the others would turn out alright. The Matriarch wouldn't hurt her, Yui hoped, she had been their ally at one point, so perhaps she could find it in her heart to forgive them?

Yui swallowed hard, inside of the pink mansion it was pleasantly warm. Noise led Yui to an office, seating her on a chair and pushing something warm into her hands. "Drink it," Yui looked down at the cup, wondering what was inside. "No," she said, suddenly fearing what might happen if she chugged the strange brew. "It's just warm milk with honey." Still, Yui hesitated. "Why do you work for her?" She inquired instead, removing her hat to reveal her bald head. Yui put the warm milk down and unbuttoned her jacket, noticing that Noise had physically stiffened. She reached out, turning Yui's head ever so slightly to glance at the tattoo. Noise took a step back, "You-! You're-you're," the red head turned, pushing her own hair back to reveal her tattoo.

"You were also-"

"-One of his," Noise finished, her hand falling away so that her red locks covered up the tattoo. "Drink," Noise said once more, "it'll calm your nerves," Yui looked down at the cup of milk and honey, sipping it slowly. It warmed her stomach and brought a strange sense of relaxation over her. Yui lay down, her limbs feeling heavy, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Did she drink it?" The Matriarch inquired as she entered, a few minutes after Yui had put her glass down. "Yeah," Noise replied and Yui blinked slowly, wondering why they were speaking about her instead of talking to her. "Aria?" Yui whimpered, hoping that she was alright. "She's being put back together," The Matriarch said, stroking Yui's cheek. "What a dreadful hairstyle," Yui heard as her eyes closed. "Then again, swans begin as ugly ducklings. Don't worry, we'll fix you up too."

As the stretchers were gathered and Mizuki was gently lifted onto one - the sickly girl's eyes still wide in panic but she no longer had the strength to keep fighting - Aria too suddenly felt all of her blood loss finally catch up to her. She slumped and was caught by a stretcher of her own. "Don't you worry, dearies." The Matriarch's voice was high and sweet in a very frightening way. "I'll take care of you both." Daisy - or Noise - or whatever was going to tend to Yui. "I'm sorry." Mizu whispered in a weak, squeaking rattle. For once it looked like she meant it. "If... it wasn't for me, y-you could've gotten away, if you hadn't... come to get me from the tank..." But if Aria didn't do that, Mizu would either have died or be taken by Shoku.

Sure, this was far from ideal, but Aria preferred Mizu being caught by the Matriarch than by Shoku. At least there was a chance that in the Dollhouse they wouldn't be tortured. At least the mink fur coat woman wouldn't be trying to corrupt poor Yui into becoming a weapon. "I don't regret saving you." Aria said as the two were carted in. She glanced worriedly towards Yui but figured Mizuki needed the reassurance more right now. "Let's work as a team and get out together, okay?" The Matiarch sighed with a patient sort of smile at their talk. "Hime always did like to train rebellious types." She said nostalgically, as if remembering a long history with the Freedom Fighter's leader. They were both taken to a special medical ward, but the sisters were separated. Mizuki was going to require extensive surgery to fix her up, as well as new batches of heart medication ordered since all of their medicine was stored safely in the Shinagawa Base. Aria mostly just needed stitches and then a blood transfusion and then she would be fine.

The Matriarch came to see her after she was already stable again and some strength was returning to her limbs. "I want to see Yui." She said simply. "And Mizuki. Don't keep us apart." Sure, she might not have access to her powers because of Noise, but that didn't mean she couldn't cause trouble in some other ways. She would refuse to cooperate unless they let the three of them together. "Little Mizuki's still in critical condition, the surgeons are working on skin grafts to reduce the scarring because the poor girl doesn't need such unsightly scars to mar her beauty." The Matriarch spoke in that flowery language as she always did. "As for Yui, I suppose I could let the adorable girl come and visit you. First, I want to offer you a proposition, however."

A proposition? That sounded suspicious? "Fine." She said hastily, already in a foul mood. She didn't like being separated, she didn't like not knowing her sisters were safe and free from harm. "I'll do whatever, just let us be together." A syringe. Xavier warned her about this before, about the Matriarch's specialty with drugs. What could this be? "You have exhibited the desire to become stronger." The Matriarch prepared the shot with precise efficiency, rolling Aria over and wiping the spot on her spine that would be injected into. "This will enable that." The needle slid in and it was slow and painful but she made sure not to move because any movement with a sharp implement so close to her spine was absolutely not recommended.

"With regular injections, I guarantee you'll be stronger." The Matriarch said with a mysterious sort of smile. "We also have a surprise visitor. Apparently little Foxie surrendered himself. Honestly, I expected him to try and mount a cute rebellion with Hime's Freedom Fighters." She put her fur gloves back on, always a connoisseur of haute fashion. "It's good to know the boy knows sense." Aria grimaced, but then she felt something strange flush through her. A desire. Not for Fox's body, no, a different desire altogether.

She wanted blood. Her eyes dilated and she shivered as the desperate need for blood filled her. "Be a good girl now and rest up. We'll train your newfound strength once I find a suitable guinea pig for you to play with." There were probably imprisoned members of Raven's faction that she would evaluate to find one worthy of being a test subject for the drug the synthesized just for Aria's use.

"What do you intend to do with them?" Noise inquired, her hands clasped behind her back. The Matriarch smiled in that mysterious way of her's. "Make them stronger of course," she replied, her smile devious. Noise knew better than to question the Matriarch's intentions. "Recognize her?" The Matriarch inquired, pinching one of Yui's cheeks. The child was fast asleep, the sedative running through her stomach had put her right to sleep. The Matriarch knew of the sensory overloads and she figured that the child could probably use the rest. "Yes," Noise admitted. "She didn't have a name then," she had seen what the child could do and knew that she contained an immense power. "I want samples," the Matriarch said, going to her drawers. She handed Noise a kit, who swallowed hard and nodded.

The Matriarch's puppet did what she had been asked, taking Yui's blood as well as samples of her nails and even the feathers on her ears as compensation for the lack of hair. With these samples the Matriarch would be able to synthesize a drug specially for Yui. She already had Aria and Mizuki's DNA thanks to previous interactions and her idiot daughter. Yui however, this was her first interaction with the child and already the Matriarch was pleasantly surprised by her ability to think with her head rather than her heart. She had recognized the fact that they were hopelessly outnumbered and had peacefully given up. "Take her to the Little Sinner. I'm sure you and her will become fast friends." Noise nodded and lifted Yui up, not saying anything about her and Aria being mortal enemies.

Yui began to rouse when Noise carried her towards the sick bay, where Aria would be waiting for the child to arrive. "My arm hurts," the child whimpered, looking at the bandage on the inside passage of her elbow. "What happened?" Noise didn't answer, rather, she opted to open up the door to the sick bay and deposited Yui on the end of the stretcher. "Ari," Yui smiled sleepily and yawned. "They gave me warm milk and honey, Yui stretched. "It tasted good, but it made me feel all sleepily and then I took a nice nap."

Yui felt the warmth of Aria's arms around her, no longer able to sense the blood inside of the girl she considered her older sister due to Noise's silencing ability. Aria began by scolding Yui for drinking the brew, meanwhile Noise had promised that there was nothing in it but a little bit of honey. "But what if it's chocolate?" Yui sat up, resting her head against Aria's chest so that she could hear her heart beat. It was something Yui realized that she had never truly appreciated until it was gone. The child shook her head when Aria inquired about Ally, "No," Yui whispered. "It's weird... it's like everything inside of me is quiet." It seemed that Aria too, had been unable to contact the dream weaver. The Matriarch had Noise's ability amplified across the facility, no light bearers were able to use their powers on the threshold of the Matriarch's pink property.

Aria's arms tightened round her, the older girl seemed to be trembling. "I'm not afraid of you," Yui replied honestly, her voice low. "I killed too, remember? Xavier said it doesn't make us monsters, it just means that we were protecting ourselves." An Involuntary shiver crawled down Yui's spine. "I'm sorry," her voice was hoarse as she spoke, it was clear that Yui was on the verge of tears once more. "I couldn't think of anything to do but give in, I didn't want you to get hurt and Mizuki needed to see a doctor." Yui swallowed hard, "I just wanted you to be alright. I didn't want you to be hurt," it seemed that the Matriarch had kept good on her promise in fixing Aria up, however, since Yui was oblivious to the injection Aria had been given.

"We'll get out of here, we always do." Yui balled her little hands in determination, remembering something important. "Noise is like me and Ronan," Yui turned, sitting on her knees so that she was facing Aria. "She must have been taken by Shoku," Damian had a bar code too now, marking him as property of the tyrant that ruled Japan. Had Yui heard the short conversation that Daisy and the Little Sinner exchanged, she would have known that Noise had gone missing after her concert. No doubt that was when Shoku's Enforcer's struck, having some sort of evidence that Daisy was a light bearer. "I don't think she's bad Ari, I think she's just... playing with the wrong side."

The door opened a sliver, the Fox poking his head in to see if Aria was awake. Someone was waiting beside him to take Yui away so that the two of them could steal some private time together. "No, I don't want to go," Yui clung to Aria, but her grip was easily broken and she was carted away, back towards the Matriarch's office. "What do you want with us?" Yui inquired, her voice full of hostility. She stood tensely by the door, her fingers flicking instinctively, but no blood met her call. "I am an admirer of beautiful things," the Matriarch said in earnest, petting Noise's cheek who closed her eyes, who leaned into the touch. "I'm going to be honest, you're a cute little thing, you have potential."

Yui took a step back, feeling a bit self conscious. She was suddenly acutely aware of her lack of chest and hair. No, Yui wasn't beautiful, she was an ugly little duckling. "That isn't what I asked!" Yui shook her head, attempting to appear tough. "What do you want with us?" Yui grit her teeth, little hands balling into tiny fists. "Isn't it obvious?" The Matriarch stood and crossed the room in a few short steps, kneeling down to Yui's height. She tapped Yui's chest, the child jerking back defensively. "You have power inside of you, I intend to groom you into a beautiful little butterfly." Panic and bile rose in her throat, both of which Yui did her best to swallow. "I don't want to be a monster." The light bearer whispered, trembling. "A monster?" The Matriarch laughed, "allow me to let you in on a secret little girl. There are no such things as monsters, good and evil are subjective. It's people in position of power you should be wary of."

The Matriarch's smile was catlike. "Noise, bring her." She lifted Yui easily, despite the fact that the child was kicking and screaming, attempting to scratch or bite the former idol. "Put me down! Let go of me!" Her arms were pinned to her sides and Yui was dragged out of the office and to what was clearly a dressing room, a space dedicated towards beautiful dresses, wigs, and accessories.

"Let the makeover begin!"

Being alone with Mizuki reminded Yui exactly why she didn't enjoy being by herself with the Oracle. Not only because she didn't understand human emotions and couldn't have a proper conversation, but because of the fact that all she did was make others feel bad about themselves. Yui had opened up her mouth to say something when Mizuki poked the straw in, telling Yui to find out for herself. Before Yui could have any juice, however, Aria came bursting in, lifting Mizuki up by her front and then promptly dropping her in her wheelchair. "It's okay, Mizuki was just trying to help me," Yui spit the straw out, poking it into the juice box and taking a sip. "It's okay, it wasn't bad," Yui lied, having been awfully lonely only moments ago in that terrible little room where nothing good happened. It was scary and Yui hated the monsters that were being infused into her body.

"Where is the Matriarch gonna put all of these people?" Yui inquired, realizing that the juice was of apple. "This isn't chocolate," she murmured, taking a long drink. It was the first thing Yui had eaten today, not having the chance to have breakfast since she had her fitting first thing in the morning and then an infusion. "Do you know anything about this debut the Matriarch keeps talking about?" The child inquired nervously, tugging on Aria's sleeve. Today she was dressed cutely in another white dress, her wig styled immaculately per the Matriarch's orders. The child looked like a perfect little doll, an angel in every sense of the word. Yui's sleeves were long and billowing in order to hide the bandages underneath and she wore a pair of leggings to keep out the cold, since the Matriarch had predicted that Yui would feel chilly after the infusion of the new medication.

"Aria isn't stupid!" Yui protested, defending Ari as best she could. "She just jumps head first into every situation," Yui was clinging to Aria tightly when Noise came in, eyes narrowed. It was clear that the Matriarch's assistant was suspicious of the fact that they were all together, unsupervised. "No slacking off," she grumbled before leaving, sore about something or another. Yui breathed a sigh of relief, glad that she hadn't been pulled away from them. "Can we go get something to eat?" No doubt they were all starving since Mizuki had only just woken up and Aria had only recently returned from a mission.

"I'm worried," The little fish admitted, biting down on her lip. "With all of these refugees and all of these guards, how are Ally and Damian going to come save us?" Yui whispered, her voice just loud enough for her older sisters to hear. "It's going to be hard for them to come to us," little did they know, the FF had already sneaked into the protective nest of the HIVE, although through what means no one would know. They were in position to act tomorrow and would do so as soon as the signal was given.

Did they know? Did they know how Mizuki looked down on everyone? Even though she had briefly looked up to Yui for all of her potential, in the end the Cocoon hardly seemed able of anything. Sure, she might have free will but she had no idea how to tap into or how to see the rest of the world for what it was. Everything was just an endless boring grey, really. Aria, too, was painfully boring even with all of her bluster and effort that always resulted in nothing. "Th-that's right! Yui believes I'm not stupid, so she's definitely right!" Aria rubbed her cheek against Yui's once she felt warm enough to not have to hug herself. The snow had fallen off in melted flakes, traces of water highlighting where her boot prints were. "I think you're smart too, Yui!" Mizuki rolled her eyes and said nothing.

"The Matriarch says it's to protect them." Aria murmured, thinking. But during the tea party, the only ones invited and treated as children were the light bearers, right? The pink villain hardly seemed to care for the average HIVE soldier. "Maybe she's trying to get more people to train to help fight Shoku?" The Oracle hardly even looked at her as she muttered a certain word under her breath that began with 'i' and ended with 'diot.' "Who has the biggest reason to fear Shoku and desire an escape?" She decided not to bother waiting for either Aria or Yui to respond. "Light Bearers still in hiding, if there are any left. So she's clearly trying to gather more." Noise came by and more or less warned them to shut up before she kept moving, seeming mostly disinterested in the three sisters together.

They unanimously agreed to get some grub as the three of them. For ease of travel, Aria put Yui next to Mizuki in the oversized wheelchair and took the bars, moving them to the cafeteria to order some food. Nothing as good as Damian's or anything, sadly. "Well, of course! I bet they already have a plan to break us out any-" A chill ran down her spine as Mizu turned around, glaring right into her soul with nothing short of disappointment. It was enough to shut Aria up and she remembered their place. They couldn't talk about it, especially not as they got their food. In fact before they got to order Mizu got up out of the wheelchair on shaky legs. "Actually, I have to go. The Matriarch wouldn't want me to be late." Aria reached to grab her, annoyed. ""At least stay in the chair and let us take you there." Why was the Prophet being so standoffish? Maybe the drugs really were getting to her, just in a way she couldn't yet understand because of the sociopathy.

Because while her sister had always been... strange, she was never outright hostile. ""Let us spoil you a little, Mizu." Aria tried again but Mizuki simply bit her hand to break free. "Just stop. You like Yui more, after all." Aria bit her lip but wasn't sure what else to say. Maybe if she had been paying attention she would have noticed how Mizu's eyes were dilated too, just a bit. "Sheesh, what the heck is up her butt." Aria groaned. It was their turn to order now. "I know you can't eat much, so do you want to just share one big meal together?" That way Yui wouldn't have to play with a plate of food to try to pretend she had eaten more than she had.

|| Never Enough|| The Greatest Showman ||

"Mizuki," Yui reached for the girl before she meandered away from them. "Don't listen to anything that Woman says," Yui swallowed. "I think she's a wolf in sheep's clothing," were the child's parting words of advice. The suddenly serious air was so unlike Yui that it was almost a startling contrast to the child that she normally was. Mizuki was uninterested in them,no doubt viewing the two as specimens beneath a petri dish that didn't warrant enough of her attention. Yui frowned, wondering what was going on in Mizuki's mind and how come none of them could figure the child out. Mizuki seemed to consider herself as higher intelligence due to her inability to feel, however, Yui believed that it made Mizuki less smart than the average person.

It was sad, frightening even, to think that Mizuki would never be able to experience things like happiness and delighting in small joys. She wouldn't cry because she was sad or divulge secrets, investing her trust in Yui during late night slumber parties to confess her crush. "I think she's trying to understand, but maybe she feels left out?" Yui said thoughtfully, watching Mizuki leave since Yui had been kicked out of the wheelchair so that Mizuki could wheel herself to the Matriarch's office. No one had explained a debut to Yui yet and she was questioning whether or not they would ever tell her, or if she would have to wait and find out on her own. The subject matter changed, Aria now questioning Yui about her lunch choices.

"I'm fine with sharing!" The little girl chirped, following Aria to the lunch line. Refugees were not in the dining hall, they were confined to certain sections of the base and told that it was for their own safety although Yui had to wonder if it was truly to hide her from public eye. The tiny thing wished she were allowed to interact with the outside, having the desire to make more friends and meet more people. Yui just wanted to be friends with everyone, the whole world her oyster as far as meeting people went. Despite their intentions to share meals, the Matriarch wanted to make certain that her children were getting proper nutrition. She had her chefs prepare lunch sets for the two girls, each a balanced meal. Yui's was little hot dogs and miniature onigiri, all decorated cutely with vegetable shapes to make the food more appealing.

"It's so cute," Yui squeaked, her smile wide as she picked up her chopsticks in order to dig in. The child nodded her head in approval, touching one cheek as she ate her first real meal in days. "It's super yummy, not as goo as Damian's, but almost as good as Disneyland!" She reported, taking another small bite out of her hot dog.
