Yui felt nervous as she walked to class on her own, wishing someone was walking with her to calm her nerves. Her first day of school! Of real school! Yui closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath in order to make her heart stop beating so quickly. When she opened them again, she set of with a new sense of determination, her hands balling into fists. "I can do this!" Yui declared, marching down the path and heading into the fifth grade classroom. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Luna sitting there, her head resting on the desk, no doubt asleep. The child smiled, taking her seat beside Luna. The desks were arrange in a circle, five children in total in the fifth grade class, including Yui and Luna. There were two more boys and another girl who would be coming, trickling in one by one. It was unusual for light bearers to be so young, but occasionally it did happen.
Their classmates were from all over. There was Jake, from America, Finn from Sweden, and Eliana from Israel. Yui's eyes widened as they came, each one different from the next. Finn had blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, Jake's hair was dyed a vibrant green and his eyes were hazel, Eliana's hair was close to ebony with two different colored eyes. They all smiled, giving a shy wave as they entered. Yui too, waved and even in this environment, she was still the shortest of them all. Not that she cared, she was used to being the tiny one. "Wait a second, aren't you the Goddess?" Eliana asked eagerly as she took her assigned seat beside Luna. "And that's one of the angels!" Finn said gleefully as he sat on the other side of Yui, Jake taking a seat next to him. Their teacher arrived, a woman from England named Ms. Emily.
"Good morning class," she smiled, Yui's eyes widening when she noticed that Ms. Emily too, was a light bearer. She was in her early twenties, no doubt only a few year older than Ronan. "I'm your teacher, Ms. Emily Grundle and I'm so excited to have you all as my class!" She clapped her hands together, rubbing Luna's shoulder in order to rouse her from her rest. "I think we should all start with a little warm up game, what do you think?" Ms. Emily took her seat between Eliana and Jake, she took out pieces of paper that were in the shape of stars. "You're each going to write your name on your stars and you can decorate them however you like." She handed out the pieces of paper as well as colored markers and pens. In England, they still used paper rather than having everything on holo pads.
"I'm gonna make mine look like the ocean," Yui decided with a smile as she picked up a blue marker in order to color the ocean in. "I'm gonna make mine the desert!" Eliana chimed, "and with a camel!" Jake was already hard at work, depicting a forest with a bear and an American flag.

Luna was roused away by a hand on her shoulder. She blinked a few times, confused and dazed. What was going on? Why was she here? She didn't understand any of it! She yawned blearily, trying to make sense of things. This was a strange room. Why were there four strangers, one of them older than the others? Oh, wait, this was school, wasn't it? She could faintly remember it thanks to Aria's vague memories of a classroom. "Hullo." She said glumly, wiping at her eyes, her head still pounding because of the utter lack of sleep. "I'm Luna. Yui's angel." She bit her tongue before she could add the next part of 'don't touch her or I'll kill you.' Ronan's words echoed in her head. This was her chance to make one of Yui's dreams come true.
Introducing themselves as Finn, Eliana, and Jake, Luna was allowed to meet the rest of the class, keeping the note in mind that her scores were technically worse than everyone here. Hopefully she would be able to keep up. To make Yui happy, Luna had to do her best and be abel to at least somewhat succeed, right? Even if her head felt like someone was drilling a hole into it at this very moment. "Are you feeling okay?" Eliana asked her as the stars were handed out. Was it obvious how bad she was feeling? "It's just too much light!" Luna suddenly lied, feeling as if her nose was elongating. "As an angel, I'm sensitive to when there's more light bearers around." Miss Grundle turned down the lights knowingly as if she could tell the symptoms of a migraine.
The stars were handed out and Luna found the lightest blue color, as well as white and yellow. "I'm going to make a sky." She decided, wishing that she could fly up above the clouds right now. So that was what she decided to do, making the lower part clouds, and then the sky looking on in the horizon from above the clouds. She even used black to try to add shade and definition to it, but it turned out looking sloppy in the end. As for Finn, he drew a big mountain no doubt meant for skiing, grinning with satisfaction when it was done being colored in. "Urgh, it's not good at all." Luna was never good at art, why should she event try?

No one had ever said that Yui was an artist. She didn't have the same skill set as Ronan, who could draw and whittle and whatnot. Up until a year ago, Yui had never even held a pencil. Therefore, to call her depiction of an ocean childish would be a compliment. It was blue with yellow sand and green seaweed, little black fish swimming around because Yui had realized that once she had made the entire star blue, the only color she could use over it was a shade darker. "There, all done!" Yui smiled, looking over at Luna's. Well, it was better than Yui's and Luna had put so much effort into it, you could tell it was a work of heart. "I like it Lulu, good job," Yui giggled, turning to look at the other's. Finn's was very nice, while Jake's was exactly what you'd expect a boy to draw. Eliana was putting so much detail into her camel that for a moment Yui wondered if this was really only the fifth grade.
"These all look great, I'm going to hang them on the door!" Ms. Emily collected their stars and placed them right outside for the anyone who passed by to see. "Okay, next we're going to play an ice breaker game," she announced, wanting their first day to be an easy one. They played a trivia game, one where they had to say their name and one fact about them, then the next person over had to say their name, a fact about themselves, and repeat the fact that the person beside them had said. As it turned out, the game wasn't easy. Once they had all taken their turn, it turned into a game of two truths and a lie, but Luna and Yui weren't allowed to answer one another's turns because of the fact that they already knew each other coming here. "Wait a second!" Yui raised her hand, realizing something.
"I can't lie," she blushed, looking down at her lap. "That's okay, just do your best," Jake encouraged, the other children leaning in eagerly. Yui wiggled underneath their gazes, attempting to think something up. "Okay, um, my favorite color is blue, I love crepes, and I don't know how to tell time." It was easy for them to guess which one was the lie, since Yui could read time as one of the qualifying factors that had put her in the fifth grade class. "Okay Luna, you're turn," the others had all gone, they were waiting on Luna now, who was very capable of lying, to take her turn so that they could play one last ice breaker before lunch.

Finn's fact was that he really liked superhero comics. Jake's fact was that he was actually a dancer in a theater play back home in America despite his very boyish drawing of a forest. And lastly, Eliana's fast was that she once broke her nose when sliding down a slide. Luna's fact was of course that she was good at tying knots, which was true, because once Ronan taught her all about it as an excuse to be able to tie her up. She had a feeling he had more fun at it than he let on, because after that he always found an excuse to put rope on her one way or another. Now it was time for truth and lie and Luna was going to make up an extravagant lie.
"Once I defeated a Star in single combat!" She exclaimed, arms wide, happy to regale stories of the many wars she had fought. "Once I fought UN soldiers and their MK Units!" She grinned, knowing that Yui knew which one was going to be the lie. "Once I blew up a giant airship with my own two hands!" The answer of course was the third one being the lie because in fact it was Aria who destroyed the Nautilus, not Luna. It stumped them all until Eliana rose her hand. "You didn't do that, that was the Queen of Hyperdeath!" Luna blushed, upset that someone was able to solve her riddle so easily. Well in hindsight it'd probably have been easier if she hadn't had facts from history and recent news that people could just know because of news broadcasts.
It was now time for one last icebreaker. Miss Grundle gave them a single raw egg, with a variety of materials on the table to go with it. "You're all going to work together to make the egg survive a high fall from the top of this ladder!" She declared with a big smile. "You, soldiers, are a special team to protect this egg! Work together and build a safe egg-dropping chair for the egg and do your best, and no light powers allowed Jake, I know you're trying to make the ground soft." Jake snapped his fingers in sadness and then they had to start brainstorming. "Let's make it a parachute!" Luna cried, knowing that it would have to work, but Finn shook his head. "No, we have to give it a use triangles to make it super good at surviving impact!" They were already yelling, the teamwork wasn't even starting. "If you can protect the egg, I have a special present for all of you." Five pages of custom-made stickers were waiting in her bag to be rewards for the children, one for each.

Yui knew what the lie was of course and she tried not to give it away by giggling, but it was really hard. Eventually, Eliana was the one who had gotten it, no doubt recalling the news about the Queen of Hyperdeath and her ship. "It was the Goddess that saved us from the Queen of Hyperdeath!" Jake declared, pointing a finger at Yui. The child squirmed, blushing. "It wasn't just me, there were a lot people involved, Ren was there too!" In the end, however, it was Yui who had killed Aria, thus giving birth to Luna. Luna and Aria were incredibly similar, but no doubt that was because her brain had been copied. Despite this, Yui had never mistaken Aria for her Lulu, who she was closer to than ever. Yui liked to think of Luna as Aria's long lost daughter who had come to them in their time of need. There had been an absence in their lives, one that Luna filled.
One last team building exercise before lunch, they had to protect an egg from breaking if it fell from a great height and they couldn't simply use their light bearing abilities, which meant no miracles. Luna suggested a parachute, but Finn wanted to do something different that had to do with triangles. Already a fight was breaking out, each child wanting to try a different method to protect the egg, their shouts making Yui's ears ring. "I have an idea!" She squeaked timidly, wondering if this would possibly work. "What if we tried a little bit of everyone's ideas? That way the egg is extra protected?" Yui had no idea how science worked, but she did know a thing or two about teamwork and making an unruly group cooperate when they needed to.
"We'll put the egg inside of a box and attach a parachute to the outside of the box, we can line the inside with protective materials in a triangle pattern to best protect it?" Yui asked, hoping that they would like the idea and not just laugh in her face. Of course, this was more than just a trial of teamwork, it was to teach the children problem solving in a group setting as well as boost their abilities to communicate with one another confidently. Of course, Ms. Emily hadn't expected them all to get so exuberant over the prize, but children would be children.

And so the children worked, finding a good box that would hopefully keep the egg sturdy and safe within, according to Jake's idea. Eliana was the one who thought of protective materials so she packed the inside of the box with soft absorbant thing slike styrofoam and bubble paper to hopefully absorb impact. Finn added little bendy straws in triangle formation to reinforce the box's outside bottom portion to work similar to how the supports on a bridge worked. Last but not least Luna and Yui worked together to make the most beautiful and sturdy cloth parachute to help increase air resistance and drag. And finally, as Miss Grundle positioned herself on the top of the ladder, the moment of truth had arrived.
With the world itself at stake, each member of this team held their breath with their hearts pounding. It was a rough start at first but in the end they worked together like an almost well oiled machine, doing their best to contribute to the team to make the best safety box for the egg to land. "Ready? Set? Go!" Miss Grundle let go of the box to let destiny take it to where it wanted to go. It fell with some modicum of prettiness and then it landed. The triangles softened the blow, the box and the styrofoam protecting the egg, the parachute slowing the fall. And then the egg survived. Well, in actuality Miss Grundle found a tiny crack on the shell but she was so proud of the children that she distributed the sticker pages, one for each kid nonetheless. "Congratulations!" She declared, eyes twinkling. "You succeeded, team! I'm so proud of each of you!"
With pride Luna displayed her stickers to Ren, Ronan, Xavier, Damian, and Noise at the lunch table, prompting Ren to laugh at her for being such a silly child for being excited over stickers.

They did it! Their egg lived! "We did it!" Yui shouted with joy, jumping up from her seat, her wings fluttering. Finn clapped his hands together, Jake and Eliana both giving Luna a high five. "That's right, you all worked together and earned a prize for each of yourselves," Yui's eyes sparkled as she took the sticker sheet, already decorating her uniform with one sparkly looking rainbow. "Lunch time!" Yui took Luna's hand to go to the lunch room, knowing that Luna would get lost in the sea of students, or perhaps Yui was afraid of being swallowed up by the amount as they trickled into the hall for mealtime. "See Luna? Was that so bad?" Yui asked, hoping that Luna had enjoyed her first day of school as much as Yui had. It wasn't over yet of course, they still had one more period, then extracurricular, then a fair that would be showing off all of the clubs available for sign up.
They strode into the lunch room, feeling like heroes. The others were already there, sitting at a table and waiting for them. Luna proudly showed off her stickers, Ren laughing in return. "We worked hard to earn these!" Yui defended themselves. "Come on Lulu, let's go get lunch!" Yui said, wanting to grab a tray before the line became too long. There were plenty of options to choose from, but for now, Yui had decided on a slice of chocolate cake with rich white frosting and for her main course, something the station had called Sheppard's Pie. Patty had spoken of it at dinner the night before and Yui wanted to give it a go, feeling adventurous after her class's victory.
Yui sat down between Ren and Luna like she always did, Ronan quirking a brow. "Look at you, trying something new," he took out his holo phone to snap a picture and send to Ally. "I'm telling on you," he joked, dipping a french fry in ketchup. There was a half eaten salad on his plate along with an American style burger and fries, which Ronan had devoured hungrily. Ren had gone to the Indian section and had chosen an intensely spicy curry and a side of white rice that he had ended up loving, along with samosas and a pudding cup. Damian and Xavier stuck with familiar Japanese food, a bit afraid of what the other stations had to offer because it was so plentiful.

With the survival of their egg and a sheet of stickers to proudly display, the victorious Luna and Yui ran off to lunch to meet up with the rest of their friends. The day was half over and Luna only just remembered that her head was killing her. It seemed that in her concentration in finding a way to save the egg she had temporarily forgotten it but as Ren mocked her for the stickers the migraine came back in full force, poor Luna whimpering and clutching her head to try to make it stop. Yui was trying to make her admit that it wasn't so bad, but Luna was a prideful girl, she wasn't just going to up and admit it! But then she saw just how happy Yui was and it was impossible not to give her a grudging, yet happy smile in return.
Ren was bullying her yet again because of the stickers, he was always going to find a way to bully and belittle her but this time as usual Yui was here to have her back. "Yeah! You just made fun of Yui too!" Ren sighed, shaking his head and lifting his arms in a helpless shrug. "It's okay for Yui to be childish, but you should know better, Lulu." Ronan snickered, nudging Ren with a knowing grin. "Admit it, you're just jealous that you don't have a sticker sheet." Ren blushed and looked away, puffing up his cheeks despite being in the ninth grade class. "No I'm not! Shut up!" He crossed his arms before uncrossing them because he had to eat and he couldn't do that with his arms folded into each other, now could he?
Luna followed Yui to the canteen to get herself some nice fish sticks, buttered and breaded and full of delicious delightfulness. Yui was being fancy though and trying something new, but Luna would always know what she liked best and it was fish. And then she saw the shark fins soup. "Actually I want that." She pointed and the lunch lady nodded, giving her the soup. It was still seafood, but it was something new to her and Luna absolutely loved it after she got a sip of the delicacy. Xavier and Damian looked as if they had fun too. "So, what clubs is everyone going to join?" Xavier asked the team at their lunch table. Luna had no idea, she didn't like any of them! No way!

There were so many clubs to choose from, Yui didn't know which one she was going to pick! Damian passed her the handout so she could look at the list, trying to determine which ones she might be interested in. Today there was a fair to show off all of the different clubs and you could join up to three to start out with. Yui eagerly read each one, wondering which she would choose from. "Look Lulu, it says if there aren't clubs you want to join, then as long as you have nine people and a supervising teacher, you can make your own club!" Yui smiled, pointing to the part on the bottom that detailed it. "So if you want to make a video game club, you can!" Yui wouldn't join of course, she didn't like video games, but maybe Luna could make some friends this way? "I don't know if you want to make a club though, look at all these," Ren added, pointing to the paper. "Hmm, you have to join at least one, but for now we can choose up to three? And there's no commitment, so if you don't like it, you can drop out!"
"Which clubs are you gonna join Ren?" Yui asked, realizing that her big brother too, was awfully quiet. "And you Ronan?" Ronan blushed and looked away, scratching the back of his head. "Well, I was thinking of joining wood shop and the art club." He admitted, having always been interested in those two things. "That's great," Damian encouraged with a gentle smile. "I think I'm gonna join the robotics club," the brunette confessed as he read the list. "Or maybe the coding club," Damian did like computers, a fact that they all knew. "I'm gonna do something athletic, like wrestling," Xavier decided. "Or baseball," Ren snickered at that, knowing that the Japanese had a profound interest in baseball, a generally American sport.
"I think I'm probably gonna join the archery club," Ren decided. "I want to be able to protect Yui and Lulu better!" His light bearing gift was defensive, so giving him some weapon training might be a good idea. "What about you Yui? Gonna join the swim club?" Ren smiled knowingly. "Actually," Yui looked up from the paper. "I think I want to join the drama club," the four boys seemed flabbergasted at the fact that Yui might be turning down the opportunity to go swimming everyday. "There's a swim team that's separate from the swim club, maybe I'll try out for that?" There were also plenty of other activities that Yui wanted to try her hand at, like photography, the fashion design society, the Disney Appreciation club.

The clubs list was quite extensive. Luna didn't know what to do! There was just so much to choose from! And also there was so much she just didn't care about at all. The massage club sounded nice on the surface but she had a feeling it would be her being made to give massages rather than receive them. Okay, what else was there? Ren suggested robotics earlier but the pinkette knew she wasn't at all smart enough to be of any help or do anything worthwhile. Everyone else was coming up with ideas but all she wanted to do was laze around! "You should pick something new so you can build up a new skill." Ronan told her wisely, a grin of advice on his face.
Luna thought hard but she still had no idea what she wanted to do. She wasn't particularly interested in much, and she didn't need any new skills to protect Yui with, did she? Her wind, her Medusa, her Paradise, that was all she needed to more or less be able to fight back and win against pretty much any opponent. At her current strength she could probably even beat Ronan, as absurd as that sounded. And it sounded really freaking absurd, didn't it! And then Luna saw it. Mixed martial arts club. Her eyes widened. Why did that sound so interesting? Someone patted her head. "Looks like someone found what she wanted." Ronan said, spotting where her eyes were going. Ren snickered. "You know you can't use light, right? It's all physical, and you're tiny!" Luna stuck her tongue out, having made her choice.
Lunch was over way too fast and they gathered back with Jake, with Finn, with Eliana again in the classroom with Miss Grundle, who already had something new to play. "We only have a few hours left with each other before the fair begins, so I thought we should play another game to get to know each other better!" She was going to separate people into groups to interview each other, and she herself would interview one of the classmates too. All the names would be drawn from a hat, and after the interview, they would have to tell the class about their partner. As names were drawn from a hat, Luna realized she was paired with Eliana, who gave her a smile and a wave. Luna stared, wishing she was lucky enough to be paired with Yui instead.

Yui was partnered up with Finn, who was a bit overly eager to meet Yui. The child sat down across from him on the carpet on the floor, smiling as he exuberantly shook her hand. "I'm jealous!" Jake said, who had to be paired up with Ms. Emily, He didn't get to speak to the Goddess or a cool angel, but instead, their teacher, who smiled as though she were used to this reaction. The children had ten minutes to interview one another and learn something cool about the place the other came from. "Let's split our time evenly, I'll interview you for five minute, then you do me, okay?" Yui nodded, smiling. She was glad she was paired up with someone smart, that way she wouldn't have to come up with an idea all on her own. "Yui, is that your real name? What does it mean?" Finn asked, starting the interview portion.
"My big sister gave me my name," Yui replied, recalling Aria fondly and not as the terror everyone made her out to be. "It means gentle," Finn nodded, believing it to be apt. "What's Japan like?" He was eager to find out. Yui giggled, able to fondly recall her home land. "It's beautiful," she replied. "It's really old, but there's a lot of new too! Like the bullet trains that are always being updated and the skyscrapers and the holo tech! We use holo tech for just about everything, we don't even use paper anymore!" Finn's eyes were wide, as though Japan was some futuristic idealistic city. "Wow, but how is it old if you have all of that?" He wanted to know, leaning forward eagerly. "Well, there's really old shrines and houses. If you leave Tokyo and go to Kyoto or even Hiroshima, you'll see a lot of old buildings."
"Do you have any pets?" Finn asked, changing the topic. Yui stiffened and nodded, "I used to have a cat named Ping, she died though." Finn pat her shoulder apologetically. Her five minutes were up, now she had to interview Finn. "Is Finn short for something?" Yui wanted to know and he nodded. "Finnegan! I'm named after a legendary hero who ate a salmon and fought a God!" Yui's eyes widened, clearly impressed. "What's your home like?" She inquired, wanting to know more. "It's huuuuge! And it's almost always covered in snow! We got two months of warm and summer and then it starts snowing again!" Yui giggled, Finn had gotten to see summer once before coming to this school.
"Do you have any pets?" She inquired and Finn nodded. "Two dogs and a cat named Henrique, after a football player. Oh, but not like American football," Yui nodded in understanding. "Do you have siblings?" Again he nodded. "Two older brothers, but I'm the only light bearers!" Ms. Emily clapped her hands together, informing them that the interview portion of their class was over.

First Eliana was going to be asking Luna some questions since Luna didn't seem like the type to want to ask questions first. "What's it like to fly?" She asked, seeing the singular black wing attached to her form. "It's good, but I can't use this wing to fly. It's more like a badge of status to prove that I'm an angel." All angels had a single wing, all Baby Stars had two, and afterwards they could have as many as they wanted. Other Mizu for example had six in her normal form. "What's Japan like now that the snow's gone?" Eliana asked and Luna shrugged. "Probably it's nice. Not that we can know since we got taken to here before we got to enjoy much of it." They won the summer back but had to spend it in school, what irony!
Eliana's face changed a little, looking more gentle. "Was it hard having to fight? You fought quite a bit, didn't you?" Luna scowled, she wasn't even in the worst of it. Shoku was the hardest but Luna was only born a few weeks after he was finished off. "I only really helped in World War 3 against the UN." She explained her contributions, fighting the UN army at Greece and Berlin. She could also talk about the adventure intot he Abyss if it wasn't for the fact that that was against the rules and Cirque was likely to come rip her head off if she tried that. "I didn't really care about the enemy lives. My job was to protect Yui and not think about anything else." And, well, that was precisely what she did. "You did well. We're all glad it was your team that won."
Now it was her time to ask questions of the brown Israeli girl. Luna hadn't ever been to Israel but she sure did meet someone from there before, the weird accountant who had volunteered to join up with them and help out. "Is it true that Muslims hate being in Israel?" She knew there was still some tensions going on about religion there, and she also knew that many of the turban people hated the funny hat people. "No, we treat them with the same respect we treat our own." Eliana said with a smile. "They enjoy the peace in the land, rather than always living in fear of war." Though in more recent years with the United Arab Emirates joining together much of the Middle East, hopefully the constant religious wars in the region would end.
"What were you doing during the war?" Eliana turned her head, seeming a little embarrassed. "Not much." She admitted, wringing her hands. She pulled on her arm and it became long and elastic-like. "My power isn't that impressive, and I wasn't able to protect anyone. The war never came home, so I never had to deal with it. I'm not brave like you or your friends were." Luna grinned a little at the silly light power she had. Being elastic and stretchy was good for a lot of things, but you had to be creative with it. "How did you first get your power?" The Israeli girl shrugged a little. "Um, only a few years ago. I'm still new to all this, really." Then the five minutes were up, all groups were done.

Once the children all made their presentation on one another and earned even more stickers, class came to a close. Yui had made plenty of new friends today and she was eager to keep making more. "The martial arts club is going to be fun, I'm sure you're going to love!" Yui said to Luna, hoping to make her feel excited about it. The child smiled innocently, glad that they had come here, even if Luna had dreaded it. The others too, seemed to enjoy their time here, making new friends, learning more about the world, and meeting light bearers from just about every corner of the earth. Yes, Yui was very glad that she got to take a break and come here. "Look at all these booths! There seems to be just about every club under the sun!" They were supposed to go around in partners, or at least, the younger kids were supposed to. Since Luna and Yui were only in fifth grade, they were still counted as the younger children and thus had to pair up.
It was easy to choose her partner though, since Yui and Luna were practically joined at the hip. The two roommates began at the very beginning, some booths having snacks to entice people over. Already, Yui had licked the frosting off of a cupcake and had devoured a decorated cookie from the baking club. Now she was sucking on a lollipop, the clubs seeming to want Yui and Luna in them. She was, of course, a highly desirable item for one to obtain and no doubt if Yui and Lulu joined their ranks, other members would come flooding in. "Ooh, chocolate!" It seemed that even in school, Yui was still being spoiled. "I love your hair!" Someone called out, referring to Luna's vibrant pink locks. She bound over, holding up a sign for the debate club. "You should definitely join our club!"
"No thank you," Yui turned down, knowing how Luna didn't like confrontation. "Hmm, let's keep going," Yui stopped at the next booth, picking up a sheet describing the music club. Aside from clubs, there were also team sign ups. The school promised that it would bring others here so that they could compete against schools from around the world. "I think I'm gonna join the swim team," one didn't have to join any team, but Yui wanted to make as many friends as possible and so she was hoping to try out and make the team.

Naturally at the fair, Yui with her two beautiful white shimmering wings and Luna with a black wing of her own were very much highly prized prospective members and people wanted them for their clubs. Things were going so strangely, Luna hated all of the crowd and all the fuss. She just wanted to be left alone with just a few people to interact with. How funny it was that the strongest of all light bearers was so bad with people that she just withered and hissed when strangers got too close? Perhaps not so funny knowing that she was on a hair trigger temper. Clubs gave them sweets and snacks to try to entice them in and Yui had the good sense to protect Luna from the debate club. She had already decided on the mixed martial arts and she wanted to do her best there. Or at least beat people up.
"I would never join the swim team. That weird Egypt girl's gonna be there too." Ishani was her name, the one who showed off to Yui with the rainbow rain hands trick! She was trying to steal Yui away from Luna, wasn't she? But the bird knew that she would never be good at moving gracefully through water because she was a bird, she wasn't supposed to be in water. But sadly there was no real club for birds so martial arts would have to do. Then finally they came to a demonstration some martial arts light bearers were having to show a fake fight to dazzle the crowd. Not all the clubs at the fair would make it of course, only those that could attract more than nine members could survive and become official. "Um, I'll take a sign up sheet, is that okay, Yui?" Luna wanted to fight too! She was tired of all this peace crap!
By the end of it all Luna was just tired and exhausted and her migraine was coming back again in painful waves. Maybe this time she would know better than to go and play her video games all night like a little weird dummy, wouldn't she? "Um, tonight, don't let me, um... play games so late." Luna stammered embarrassedly. She had already texted Mizu who laughed at her and told her to stop being stupid and start pretending to be a good student at least. Easy for her to say, Mizu had dropped out of school early on and never had to worry about it after that because she became the First Lady and would never need to worry about education.

Yui nodded her head, "Yes, of course! You don't need to ask me!" Yui was just happy that her Lulu had chosen a club and had the potential to make friends. Luna looked shyly away after taking a sign up sheet. "Okay, I'll lock it up in a special box and you'll only get it back once you do your homework!" Yui was kidding of course, most schools these days didn't believe in homework after studies years ago proved it ineffective. There were tests though and studying for those tests would be the replacement. The child giggled, perhaps a bit mad with fake power. She could always miracle up a case to lock it in. The child turned towards her counterpart, glad that Luna was at least going along with this whim. "I'm gonna join a club too, I just don't know which one yet." She had taken the sign up sheet for a few of them with her, but had submitted none of them yet. Already her mind was turning over which one to join.
"This one," Yui decided to go with, "and this one." The Idol Club, which Noise was somehow already President of, and the photography club. Yui submitted the papers, glad that the stressful decision was over and yet, happy with her choice all the same. "What do you think Ren ended up picking?" Yui inquired, hoping he had gotten into the club he wanted. Some of them only had a limited number of spots too, like the art club, which could only hold so many students at a time. "We're gonna meet up for dinner I think," Yui scratched her cheek, recalling Luna's previous remark. "Ishani isn't weird! She's just from another country. That's not nice Lulu, what if she called you weird?"
"Who's weird?" A voice came from behind them. Yui whirled around, Ren and Ronan standing there, grinning. "Which clubs did you join?" Ren wanted to know, jogging up to them. "The idol club and the photography club," Yui said proudly. "I joined robotics and the adventure club!" Ren declared proudly, pounding a fist against his chest. "I joined art and wood shop," Ronan said, which they already knew he was going to do. [color=#50A6C2]"What's the adventure club?"[/color Yui wanted to know, curious. "It's a glorified boy scouts club," Ronan replied for Ren with a snicker.

Luna made a peculiar face at Yui's words as she defended Ishani. "I already know I'm weird though, that's why I don't get along really." She was self aware of the fact that she was a strange girl so it wasn't like the pinkette was completely ignorant about these things. Yui was being a bit silly too but everyone loved her because she was super cute and friendly to everyone. Luna personally couldn't imagine being like that, she had too much pride to kowtow and bow to everyone she met. "I hope you lock it so well I never see it again!" The mandatory club rule was a bit silly but Luna knew that if she had to pick one, it would be the mixed martial arts, dangerous of course but she knew danger and thrived on it.
Still the pinkette would've preferred having the freetime to just play games and do nothing and be lazy too. "Actually, the weirdest one is Patty! She should learn to talk different!" Lucky for them, those two were happily stowed away in the ninth grade meaning they were in Ren's class and not theirs so hopefully they wouldn't get too much in the way. "Archery, probably. And then the bullying club, where people bully others!" The bullying club was of course not real, it was just Luna's way of getting a free kick at Ren without him retaliating against her. Ren and Ronan had come, both of them grinning at the two girls, announcing their club choices. "Hah! Boy scouts? Really? You're such a dumb!"
Ren made a smug face at her and turned away, arms folded at his chest. "Its better than the beat people up club. It needs finesse, something you quite lack, Lulu." She boiled up, hands balling at her sides. "I do have finesse! Luna declared as she spun to Yui and whispered frantically into her ear. "Quick! what's a finesse? Do I have it?" Ren laughed loudly. "You don't have much subtlety either." Ronan was scratching at his ear at their antics before coming up and patting his love on the head. "Don't worry about him, you're a good girl." Ren snickered even more, distracting Luna from the love.

Yui giggled, her eyes lighting up at the fact that she was surrounded by the people she most loved. "Finesse is like something subtle or refined," Yui replied in a whisper for Lulu's benefit. Ronan pat Luna's head, attempting to be reassuring but perhaps making it worse. He didn't want to demean her of course because she wasn't dumb, as much as she claimed to be. "Ren, stop bullying people, you'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." He lectured, pinching Ren's ear to make him stop. "Ow! Ow! I don't want to catch stupid flies! Only idiots would catch flies!" He cried, pushing Ronan away from him and hiding behind Yui, whom he knew Ronan would never dare lift a finger to. Ronan reached right over Yui and pulled Ren up by the back of the shirt. "Apologize, you'll never get a girl with that attitude," Ronan tried. "I don't want a girl!" Ren protested, struggling to get out of Ronan's grip as Yui giggled, onlookers too, watching.
They ate dinner together that night, the family talking and laughing, skyping Ally in so that she wouldn't be left out. Already there were plenty of silly anecdotes from their first day of school and Ally too, had her fair share to say on what was going on outside of the walls of Haven. "Look at you Luna, eating something new," Ally smiled, glad to see that Luna was indulging and taking in something that the school had to offer aside from fish sticks or chicken fingers. Yui too, was indulging in something new, Damian encouraging her to try something called bangers and mash from the British section, which was basically mashed potatoes an a British sausage, but Yui seemed to like it all the same. That night, Yui miracled up a lock box to put Lulu's toy into. "Okay Luna, hand it over, tonight you're going to get some actual rest!" Yui declared, looking stately in her fancy white nightgown with their school crest embroidered in the corner.
The next day came quickly, their classes full of learning. In the morning they did some math, going over basic principles that were easy for the children to grasp. After that, they took a field trip to the horse pens, Ms. Emily wanting to teach them more about about animals since most of them had only ever encountered domesticated dogs and cats due to the fact that the world had been in an eternal winter for who knows how long.

Even though it was by her request it didn't change the fact that Luna was wailing and whimpering as her Playsystem Vista was stolen away from her by Yui's miracle lock box. "But I wanted to get to the next chapter! I didn't have any time to play today!" She clung and tried to bite the box but that just hurt her teeth and was probably actually quite the bad idea after all. In the end poor Luna was sentenced to the horrible fate of having to go to bed without getting to play any games, wondering if her big sister Mizuki was going to be disappointed in her slacking ways. When morning came though she felt amazingly rested and was able to be more alert and attentive during the lesson no matter how much she didn't want to be.
The day was full of adventure, except for the adventure into math because that was less of an adventure and more like mental abuse to humans, it was just so much numbers and pain! Even with her brain refreshed the pinkette wasn't going to be wired to handle academic learning. She was fast at picking up combat and to some degree lying cues but other than that she had no real skills. The horses were funny though, one of them kept staring at her out of the corner of it's eye as it ate hay and did horse things. Luna tried to ride one but then it farted in her face and it kinda smelled after that. "Now I smell bad." Luna whined, wishing they could have seen horses instead. They ate lunch at the horse pens, special ranch-style foods to give them more of an authentic farm experience. Meaning lots of meat and veggies and no fish. Meaning sad Lunas.
Eventually the returned back to school, Eliana having had lots of fun asking questions relating horses to camels, Jake wanting really badly to ride a horse and Finn drawing pictures so he could remember them later. "Horses don't like me." Luna complained once it was dinner time. After this was club time for everyone one's first day of their primary club. For those who doubled up, they'd have a separate day for secondary orientations. "Are you excited for martial arts, Luna?" Damian asked as he was already researching robot designs on his phone. "Who are you kidding, Luna's always excited to beat people up." Xavier snickered, cracking a boyish grin. "It's better than looking at numbers all day." Ren growled, having had to learn pre-calculus and his poor brain was overwhelmed right now.

Meeting a horse was probably one of the most exciting things Yui had ever done. Sure, she had met with politicians, won an award, had gotten to go to Disneyworld, but she had never met a horse before! The child was so eager that she didn't even notice the smell of the fart when it tooted in Luna's face. "They're so pretty!" Yui's eyes sparkled and just like any other little girl, she fell in love with the animals. Yui wanted to pet them, reaching over to touch the nose of a horse, noting how wet it was, almost like Ping. The horse reached over, using its long face to nuzzle Yui's own. She giggled, trying to show Lulu, who was looking as gloomy as ever. "Luna, come here, they're so sweet!" Eliana ran over, wanting to pet the horse too. Jake and Finn joined them, wanting to get to know the horse whose name was Penny.
At dinner, Luna declared that the horse hadn't liked her. "I think the horses liked you plenty, especially when you fed them those carrots from lunch," Yui said as she spooned a piece of cake into her mouth, having already tried another new meal. She was trying to find something she liked aside from chicken fingers and the adults were pleasantly surprised with how many new foods she was trying, even if she ended up hating it and eating chicken fingers instead. Luna was already excited for martial arts club, which made Yui eager too. "I hope you win your first match!" She said as she stuck her fork upright in her cake, her stomach bubbling. Tonight she would be starting idol club, which Yui had no idea as to what it would entail. Noise was their club president, so it could be anything from watching old idol videos to coming up with dances.
"Numbers are boring," Yui nodded, putting in her two cents. "I like the other lessons better, they're a lot more fun!" They hadn't just met horses today, but ducks, chickens, goats, and even a cow! They had gotten to explore an entire farm on their field trip and Ms. Emily was so pleased with how well they had all behaved, in fact, they had acted so nicely that she had appointed Luna group leader for their next field trip and who knows where that would be!

The first orientation day, as it turned out for Luna and the other recruits to the club, was not one for matches or anything but rather to learn more about the sport. The pinkette was a bit disappointed, wanting to bring home stories of epic victory and physical strength. It was almost as if the girl was forgetting that without her powers she really was kind of a frail little girl, using powers rather than muscles. It would certainly be a new challenge for her, but she still wanted to win. Most of those here were boys, but there was one girl with her too who went by the name of Rhonda, an American two grades above her. She had a toned body, better than Luna's rail thin form she sported.
"Don't worry." Rhonda said quickly, cracking her knuckles as they watched the demonstration to show off the rules and what not do do. Already some people were doubting if someone like Luna should be allowed to compete because of how small she was. "There's a certain way to fight for you to be good, even if small like that." Luna glanced over, wondering what she meant. Wasn't she already super strong? She had beaten up a Star after all, not many people could get away with something like that. "I'm super strong, there's no one that can beat me." A few people snickered and Rhonda gave her an odd look. "Um, you know that we aren't using our light for this, right?" They weren't? Oh right, didn't someone say that already? Wait, in what world was she going to be able to win against bigger stronger bodied people without her light? This was sacrilege!
After the initial session and some muscle building homework was given by the club president, Manus, Luna found herself being hunted down by Rhonda before being able to retreat back to her dorm and be safe with Yui. "You're a girl, so you should know these tricks okay?" Rhonda taught her with physical action, showing Luna how to use someone else's strength and momentum in order to make them fall over and hurt themselves without needing strength, trying to teach Luna something that was a mix of both Muay Thai and Judo. "And don't let them clinch you, you're pretty small you won't be able to get out! And that concludes me first lesson to a fellow girl!" Luna gave her an odd stare. "Can I practice on you?' She asked, eyes almost sparkling, wanting to try these techniques.

"Welcome to the first official meeting of the Idol Club!" Noise and her subordinate, Melody, also a former idol and light bearer said, looking awfully sweet and loving. Yui looked around, aside from her and their presidents, there were six other girls, giving them a total of nine. She was excited to meet the others, since it was their first day and Melody and Noise had come up with some fun memory and vocal warm ups. They followed along, learning how to read sheet music and tell the basic notes. Then they learned the essential idol and were each assigned a role. "Yui," Melody smiled, "since you're the baby of the group and you're sort of the face of light bearers everywhere, you'll be our middle." As of right now they were arranged in a staggered line. "Now, we're going to give you each a persona!" Noise said, coming around with a piece of paper. She and Melody asked them each a couple of questions, then decided on what they would be.
"Rosa, you're the alternative girl," Rosa was from France and had vibrant pink hair, definitely the cool type. "Janie, you're going to be the sweet one," Janie was from England and had a cute British accent. "Harley, you're going to be the southern country girl," Harley was from America and came from a very large farm. "Ada, you'll be the cool girl," Ada was from South Africa and had gorgeous tanned skin. "Zane, you'll be the quiet one," no one knew where Zane was from because she hadn't spoken a word since arriving aside from introducing herself. "Malik, you're the heart throbber," Malik was their only male, but with his long blonde hair and beautiful sparkling eyes, he fit in perfectly. "And Yui, you're going to be the baby, the one everyone wants to protect and cherish, but can't have." Yui nodded, figuring that was pretty much already her everyday role.
"Now, let's practice our poses! Then you'll each get a signature hairstyle!" Melody was clearly the most excited about this. Noise and Melody didn't want any part on stage, they had gotten their lime light an wanted to give it to the younger crowd. Yui was the smallest one, the others all seeming to range from ninth grade to college. "Yui, you're pose is going to be this one!" She was to put her fingers together in a heart and move it from side to side as though it were beating. "This is fun!" Yui giggled, glad she had come. "And your signature hairstyle will be...." they pulled pieces of Yui's hair up, then down, tried braiding it, but eventually they settled on two mini twin tails, taking her long colorless hair and pulling two strands back.
"I like it," Yui decided with a smile, deciding that her first club experience was a success.

Flip! The world was flying around her, blurry and spinning and then with a painful whump Luna landed on the ground once again. She landed on the ground, groaning as stars spun around her and she felt woozy. Above her Rhonda stood with a smug sort of smile, bending down to offer a hand up, which Luna took, stepping up off of the mat. "Why does that always happen?" She asked dizzyingly, sitting back down. "Because you're not doing it right. You can't just rush at me with all your strength, silly." Rhonda bat her eyes teasingly. "It's about momentum and and balance. You have to use the -" Right as she said that Luna roared and ran at her again. Rhonda sighed, backing up and taking a defensive stance, Luna charged in, Rhonda put her hand on the pinkette's flank to flip her up over her yet again.
But then Luna grabbed Rhonda by the shoulder, whirled around, and slammed her into the ground with a midair grapple hold, head locked in her elbow. "Okay, that was better." Rhonda grinned, both of them getting up after that display. "You're pretty acrobatic." Luna had an idea she figured out her specialty. She was mediocre as a ground fighter and it'd be easy to knock her small frame off balance. But if she could get airborne she was incredibly agile and knew how to manipulate herself to gain an advantage in a martial bout. "I'll just have to get in the air each time!" Rhonda grinned, patting her on the shoulder. "Us girls gotta stick together and show the boys that we're just as good as them!"
Once it was over Luna limped back to her room with Yui, slumping down onto her bed and staring longingly at the locked box with her precious toy in it. Sadly tomorrow there was still no time to play as Noise scheduled another training session for them to get ready for the ever-quickly approaching day of Mizu and Raven's marriage where they would need to have their song and dance routine finished for before then. Luna decided to wait for Yui by passing out completely on the bed, rolling off and hitting her head on the wooden leg of her bed, still unconscious from how hard she worked today.

After Idol Club, Yui had a meeting with the school board. She was tired, but she knew she had to do her due diligence in order to make sure that the school was safe for all those with light bearing gifts. She took a seat in the middle of the table, the school board and various members of the UN on holo screens filling the space. "Welcome, Yui," K smiled, leaning forward on xis desk. Xe was coming in from a holo screen of course, unable to see the school in its entirety, now filled with students of all ages from all backgrounds. "How did the first few days go?" The Headmaster, a man by the name of Jacob Erinkranz asked, wanting to hear Yui's opinion. A few of the teachers were crowded around as well, listening eagerly. Yui scratched the back of her head, thinking back on the last three days. "I think it all went really smoothly, everyone I've talked to so far liked orientation and they said the food is really yummy! They like having the comforts of home, even if it's just by way of food."
The others were listening and taking notes, this was, after all, a landmark school, the first of its kind. Even if the students were forced to attend due to the fact that they were listed on the registry, they still wanted them all to be happy. "There is a problem with the girl's dorms, or at least, our shower schedule." Yui showed them the time allotments they had been given since there were only a limited number of shower stalls and then the large, open bath for everyone to use. "There isn't enough time for everyone to shower if you divide it like this." They got to use the showers based on which section of the floor they were on. "For water types, they need more time, so it can run into the time allotted for others." There were plenty of nods and scribbles. "Also, we need a salt water tub," she added as an after thought.
They spoke of uniforms, of restrictions on the grounds, and then of there being so many clubs. When it was over, it was well past midnight and Yui was exhausted. The time difference too, was hitting her hard. She managed to drag herself back to the dorm and stand under the shower for a minute before retiring to her room, where Luna was already fast asleep. "Goodnight Lulu," Yui said as she pushed the girl back into bed. Yui clambered onto her own mattress, hoping to fall asleep quickly. She closed her eyes, lids heavy, primed to fall asleep at any second, but for some reason, the normal tiredness wouldn't come. At around two, Yui moved from her own bed and into Luna's, able to fall asleep with the comfort of another person.

The world was ending! Enemies were here! Luna gasped and panted, trying to breathe. She couldn't move! She couldn't see! What was happening, they were in danger and yet she was being so useless, trapped here like this! She tried to twist her body in confusion and terror and then she saw Yui there, clinging to her as if she were a pillow, mouth somehow moving to cover Luna's own mouth. She pulled away in surprise, breathing hard as she had almost been suffocated. "Well, that was scary." She didn't mind of course, it was just a strange way to wake up is all. They were a bit early now, but it sure was a pretty sunlit view, wasn't it? "Wake up, Yui. Look at the sun!" She rubbed her friend to show her how pretty it was. She even called Mizu to show her all about it.
The next day of class they were practicing their reading. It was english of course, but Miss Grundle said it would be nice if the kids could be a little bit familiar with other languages too, since every culture had a language and they all had things in them that apparently made them beautiful or whatever, Luna wasn't listening enough to really care. She mostly ignored everyone as Jake brought up the idea of the class eating lunch together one day, to get to know each other a little better. Luna's mind was mostly focused on the looming threat of having to do more idol training with the cruelest trainer in the entire world, Noise herself. She even left them a message once lunch began to be ready for another training session in preparation for the wedding.
At lunch Luna found herself suddenly surrounded by Jake, by Finn, by Eliana, who for some reason was not asking them about the war that they survived or the trials, but rather just simple little things. "What is it like to have such good friends?" Eliana asked, no doubt referring to the rest of the family who was always at their side. "Why do you like crepes so much anyways?" Finn asked with a slight smile, tilting his head. "You guys have yummy Japanese things like wagashi and mochi, who needs crepes!" And Jake was poking at their wings, curiously. "Are your feathers super magical and cool?" Luna didn't know about magical, but they sure were cool. She of course couldn't know what was to come, the threat that K being still alive represented.

Yui was awoken early in the morning by Lulu, giving her a grand total of three hours of sleep. She looked up at the rising sun, sitting upright and smiling. "It's beautiful," she said tiredly, her eyes fluttering shut as she slumped downwards, falling back onto the mattress as though she were a marionette doll whose strings had been released. She slept until their alarm went off, giving her a bit more rest. She rubbed at her eyes tiredly, blinking until the goo was gone and she could see clearly. "Good morning," she said brightly as she dressed in her uniform. Today, instead of having normal study time as was allotted on their schedules, Yui, Ren, and Luna would be doing their idol training with Noise and possibly Melody.
Their classes today were fun, or at least, to Yui they were. She enjoyed learning new phrases from languages she didn't know and the others were pleasantly surprised to find that Yui and Luna were able to speak more than just English and Japanese. Yui was fluent in ten languages because of Anathema, having had them drilled into her mind until her eyes glazed over and her head felt numb. Finn in particular, was excited to converse with them in Swedish. Yui was all too happy to oblige, Ms. Emily watching on with interest. "That's the bell! Have a good lunch everyone!" She waved, sending them off to the lunch room. They would be sitting together as a class to eat, but perhaps Ren would join them anyhow.
Yui sat down with her choice of meal, today she had gone Japanese again and got Miso soup and mochi ice cream. "Thank you for the food!" She clapped her hands together, a bit nostalgic for a pair of chopsticks. Almost instantly, she and Luna were peppered with questions, the other children wanting to know everything about them, from their feathers, to their eating habits. "Japanese crepes are a little bit different than French crepes," Yui explained, "We eat them in a cone and we put so many things in them! Mochi and wagashi are good, but you can really only enjoy those with tea." She hoped she had explained them well. "My wings grow!" She explained, right now they were small, but if Yui wanted them to, they would almost magically get bigger.
Just as predicted, Ren joined them at the table, a text book tucked underneath his arm. "Ugh, calculus is going to be the death o me."
