To understand her history its best to also understand her family as well. For the longest time even Roslyn herself didn't fully know who her parents were. The truth came to her much later in life, and has since left her floundering for her true identity. Her parents, Andrea and Kyle were from New Jersey, born and raised there and knew each other growing up. They were the kind of highschool sweethearts that everyone knew would be getting married at eighteen whether they understood the severity of marriage or not. True to the prediction they got married right out of highschool and not even half a year later had Roslyn. Now heres where things get a little tricky because Andrea was barren and unable to become pregnant. Only a few people knew this about her, and of those few people Kyle was not included. He had no idea that his wife had only been playing pregnant for all that time.
Her true mother was a friend of Andreas, who was a year younger and feared what her life would become if she were to have a child at the young age of eighteen. So the two of them put together a very elaborate plan, that in the end gave both of them what they wanted - Andrea a child, and her friend a life beyond being a young mother. Now this plan couldn't work forever of course, not when Roslyn began to grow and her apparent differences started to show. Andrea had red hair, and Kyle had black hair and somehow Roslyns hair was dirty blond and neither of them could have passed on the blue-green eye trait. Kyle did the math and ordered a paternity test. Andrea eventually broke down and told him the truth, but by then the damage had been done and Kyle wanted nothing more to do with his wife.
Roslyn was eight when they split, and she can still remember to this day the fear she felt as she watched them fight. Screaming at each other, nasty words spit back and forth and she wound up right in the middle of it. They never stopped being her parents, they fought for custody over her for a long time. Neither of them wanting to give and through it all making her even more of a nervous wreck. Eventually they settled on partial custody on both sides - Andrea got week days and Kyle got weekends. Roslyn never even got a choice. In the years that followed her life was a mess of moving from place to place with her unemployed mother and listening to her drunken father talk shit on her mother. She threw herself into her schoolwork, determined to have a life outside of the shithole her parents had created.
At age sixteen she filed for emancipation by court permission. It was a long and grueling process but she was granted Emancipation just before she turned seventeen. However she had already been living in her own apartment (provided by a family member until the order could be granted) and working a part-time after school job to sustain herself. After that she cut most ties with her abuse and alcoholic father and only sees her mother when the older woman needs to borrow money. Eventually she got a scholarship to go to collage out of state and lived on campus for a while. She graduated summa cum laude and right out of collage she took a job doing freelance journalism.
Her taste for adventure began to fade after a horrendous car crash she was involved in half a year ago, she was lucky to have survived after being ejected from the car. The damage from the crash had her in a wheelchair for several long months until her legs healed. After that her wound began to heal and scar over, and eventually he decided she needed somewhere to settle down. She chose a relatively small town, and has been there ever since. But when things in that small town begin to go a little crazy will Roslyn be able to hold back her curiosity?
