Inside the Mind

Personality:
As a person who lives by her own rules and split-second decisions, it's difficult to figure out exactly why Elyssa joined a guild practically dedicated to order, though it's not entirely surprising. Lyssa is a woman who lives in the day and follows whatever whim may strike her, enjoying the unpredictability that such a life promises.
She has a charismatic and overly confident air about her that she uses when striking a deal or attempting to form alliances and she doesn't find it overly difficult to gather allies when she feels she needs them. Despite the ease at which she makes them, Lyssa also has a knack for breaking them due to her rebellious nature and general inability to take orders unless she believes that they would benefit her. Despite this, if she does accept a task you can trust that she will fulfill it to the best of her ability. Elyssa is extremely serious about what she does and she never cuts corners when it comes to the jobs that she takes on.
However when it comes to working on a job with other people Lyssa is extremely competitive and she has a tendency to turn everything into a competition and tries to outshine whoever she's working with. This can be a good thing, driving her to work above expected, but more likely than nos Lyssa will overexert herself.
Despite her large collection of flaws, Elyssa makes a good ally and an amicable companion if you allow her to be.

Abilities

Main Ability:
Elyssa is a skilled scout and infiltrator. She's versatile and good at staying to the shadows. If Lyssa does not want to be seen, she's very good at not being seen. Prepared to use her quick wit, cunning, and charm to escape unsavory situations if need be without suspicion, Elyssa is an exemplary rogue and good addition to any party.
Secondary Ability:
Elyssa is very good in close-combat, specializing with smaller blades such as daggers and dirks. She's light on her feet and moves around easily in fighting situations. She knows how to adapt in different fighting situations.
Despite working best with smaller weapons, she prides herself in being able to wield most weapons with relative ease (this excludes weapons from more advanced dimensions, Elyssa would have no idea what to do with a gun, for instance) or use resources available at the time as a weapon. She has fundamental knowledge of the bow, but prefers melee over ranged attacks because she feels more in control.
Unique Ability:
Elyssa knows a minor teleportation spell that she uses in close-combat situations to move around with ease and trip up or confuse her opponents. It's very short-range and requires little effort and for that reason she barely even considers it a spell, more like a trick that she learned from the thieving guild's mage after begging and bribing him to teach her some magic. Despite not taking much effort to perform, it does require some level of concentration and can malfunction* if she is under a lot of stress (like if the fight is going downhill for her) or if she is injured.
*malfunction only means that it'll feel (to her) like she has moved but she actually hasn't.
[This is how it appears and what occurs when it malfunctions- skip to 1:26 if you don't want to watch the entire thing. This is how I imagine her fighting style as well.]
The Past

Adventure. Elyssa doesn't have much interest in the good of the world around her but she saw the guild as a way to see new things. She also believes that traveling and working with the guild will help her practice her skills and grow physically. Elyssa is also curious about the denizens of different dimensions. She knew that the guild would be a non-hostile environment and took it as her opportunity to get an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of different races and different technologies just in case she comes in contact with them in the future.
Story (History):
Elyssa grew up in an impoverished city as just another child on the street. The city was notorious for crime and ruled by guilds of thieves and murderers. She doesn't remember much of her childhood and doesn't care much to remember it, but she does remember that she spent most of her time as a messenger and informant, a very common occupation for the urchins. She would deliver threats or information from guild to guild, person to person under the guise of innocent child. Life on the streets trained Lyssa to trust in nothing but her own skills and to stick to the shadows.
By the age of fourteen, Elyssa was accepted into the ranks of a lower guild that she had served quite a bit during her time as a messenger and refined her skills. She did lots of infiltration missions into the lower ranks of enemy guilds for information and did occasional thieving and assassination missions. She gradually rose in ranks until she was 23 and confident enough in her skills to leave the guild and travel around to larger cities working as a bounty hunter, mercenary, hired assassin; any job that she could make good money from she would accept.
She always kept to familiar places, careful not to make too much contact with people and things from the different dimensions due to not knowing much about them. If someone obviously from a different dimension walked into a tavern where she was drinking, she would fade into the shadows and simply watch. Until recently, Elyssa wanted nothing to do with anyone from other dimensions. However, a contact of hers back in her home city spoke with her of the possible employment opportunities and skills that she could gain from them and a whole new door was opened to the opportunistic rogue. She waited patiently for her chance to learn more about those from other dimensions and was soon rewarded when word came about the guild forming to look for the Remnant. She quickly got her things together and volunteered and that's where the adventure begins.
