Yes, I know I'm blue, tell me something new.

a character in “Renaissance”, as played by deathrisesagain

Description

Tyriel Tanani is a blue skinned Unduli. He appears to be around the age of 17 Unduli years, and stands five feet seven inches tall, and weighs only one hundred thirty five pounds. Tyriel isn't built to be a fighter, his looks make the appearance that if he's hit even once, he'll be snapped in half. What he lacks in strength be more than makes up for his intelligence in engineering, always trying to design and build something better. Tyriel has black eyes, and brown hair. He usually wears a set of grey coveralls, that has grease and oil on them. He's more comfortable in his coveralls and refuses to change into anything else. He also wears a set of black steel-toed combat boots.

Personality

Tyriel is a rather quiet type of guy, but when he knows somethings wrong with his equipment and thinks someone is doing something wrong, he'll speak up. He is also a very hard worker, and usually never quits a job until he's done, which could mean not getting any sleep for several days. Tyriel is also loyal to any friends that he has, and will die if it meant protecting them. He has always been honest and trustworthy and many Unduli find themselves talking to him about their problems.

Equipment

Besides coveralls, Tyriel carries with him a tool bag with a collection of assorted tools. He doesn't carry any type of weapons, just tools. Tyriel also has a few pictures that he carries around with him. Around his neck he carries a ring, but never talks about who it's from, or where it came from. Other than that, Tyriel doesn't carry anything else.

History

Tyriel wasn't born into a weathy family, nor a poor family, but a middle class family. His family always taught him to work hard and perform to the best he could and even if he doesn't reach his goal, as long as he did his best, he should be proud. He always worked hard, and was able to bring his family proud. Tyriel is mostly known for his design and work on the shield technology that is aboard majority of the starships now. Due to traveling from ship to ship to perform maintenance and work on the shields and other equipment, Tyriel hasn't been able to call any place home.

So begins...

"Okay, I'll meet you at the bar near the residency compartments. I should have a room by then, so.." She continued walking with Louis, turning to Douglas one last time. "It was nice meeting you!"

Jane and Louis had discussed everything from how Louis had come to the position he was in to how long it would take to walk around the entire ship. She enjoyed Louis' company now that their relationship was on the positive side. She had been shown a room near the bar she planned on meeting Douglas at later. Now all she had to do was unpack and get familiar with the ship until they headed to Earth on the RSS Deliverance.

Changing into more comfortable clothes, she made her way into the hall debating on which way to go. She found herself wondering about the ship with no destination in mind.

The admiral's face was emotionless throughout the tale, but by the end he had a questionable look about him.

"We may need to have a talk about your punishment in my office. It would seem there are somethings that require close--."

"His punishment will be a suicide mission."

The eyes of all of the officers, including Admiral Kuro, were on Julian Russell.

"What?" the admiral began, but he was stopped by Cap, who said, "He'll be under my confinement and forced to perform incredibly daring deeds that I myself could not. He'll be fighting the Congregate head on, alongside myself."

"But he already wanted to--."

"Admiral," Cap dared to interrupt. The officers were white with fear, but they did not know the relationship between the two before them. Julian went on, "Admiral leave him in my custody. It'll be benificial for us all, trust me. You put out a press release saying he was put aboard the brig of my ship to be taken to some foreign planet to be marooned. Then, if he survives, he comes back a hero and all is forgiven. How does that sound?"

The admiral was in shock, but regained his composure and smiled.

"Very well then," he said. "He's all yours."

The two saluted each other ((er, by the way, the Republic salute is touching two fingers from the right hand to the left shoulder sharply)), and with that the admiral departed. Cap then looked down at the augmented human and held a hand out saying, "Best recruitment cycle ever, eh?"

Julian released the cybernetic hand and stepped inside of his office, calling, "Come on in. There's a registration tablet you'll need to look at."

He suddenly realized he may have not even had Jane sign one, but the thought was shrugged off. The officiality of the mission wasn't hanging on a thread or anything. He sat behind his desk and took the very device that Jaron had used in his hands, loading up a new screen with an unsigned contract.

"Just sign here," he told the man, handing him both tablet and stylus, "and you'll be all set."

Julian stepped out of his office and looked about the room until his eyes fell upon--.

"Tyriel, you're up."

He re-entered the room, awaiting the unduli's arrival.

Captain Russell's delight at seeing Tyriel in his office turned gradually, as the unduli spoke, into scorn. He stood up and slowly leaned over the table, placing his hands on the desk.

"I want you to listen to me very carefully, grease-head," he snapped, his eyes glaring, "if you disrespect me like that again, I'll make sure your next stop doesn't involve you wearing a uniform, got it?"

His mind was still set on recruiting the genius, but the interest had waned a bit.

Without even noticing, Andreah was humming. She had that habit. It brought even more attention to herself. She felt thrown off there, out of her environment. But she loved that. The disorienting hustle and bustle of people and the low murmur of the crowd intrigued her. Passing by a bar filled with the most interesting of individuals, she was more than tempted to go inside. The fluorescent light illuminated faces here and there, showing off the facets of their beautiful flaws. She didn't think she had seen so many people. Even so, she pried herself away from the busy lane, soon after found herself on one less crowded, and resisted the siren calls of the sea of strangers.

Eventually, the young girl had found her way and stood in the hall, in front of Julian Russel's office. Her hands had found their way to the straps of her old backpack, blackened with dirt; inside it, everything that she could call hers.

"This must be the place." she decided, containing her delight as she looked up and down at the imposing doors. The excitement was once again bubbling up inside her. Oh, but if Daniel and his friends could see her now- this was an impressive moment to take in. This was it. The one great fight that would kill her and bring her to life, and she was finally becoming a part of it.

She felt like waiting outside of this office any longer would make her burst out of her skin. From inside the office, she could hear the faintest muffle of an argument. The tension in their voices said enough.

Julian leaned back and continued glaring at Tyriel, before letting him know, "I was handed your dossier and wanted to know whether you wanted to be a part of the team haeded for Earth."

His voice was very piercing and fixed.

"Your skills are impressive and could prove useful on a mission of this scale. However," and the room went cold at this, "I need to know if I can trust anyone I'm bringing along to be loyal, honest, courageous, and wary. I can't tell whether you are all of these things. Hell, would you even like to do this? Would you like to prove the majority of humans wrong about your people? Do you care?"

Captain Julian "Cap" Russell was stunned, to say the least. There definitely some pros to this man, but some cons as well: a renegade, cocky, but he'd earned at least half of that attitude in the past. The question was whether he could leash it. Cap didn't think the guy could.

"Let me ask you one more thing, Tyriel," he began, thinking of the last person outside of his office. "Do you have anything against humans? Working with them?"

His eyes were ruthless and attempting to get at the core of this man, of this alien, of this unduli, of this Republican.

The shouting inside had subdued itself to a low, indistinguishable mutter. Did something happen to whoever was inside? She heard sign of anyone inside fighting though, so it had to have been settled well.

She looked around the corridor, left, right, and then left again. There was no sign of anyone who was paying particular attention to Andreah. She stepped up to the door and slipped into the room, quiet as a mouse. The room looked brilliant. Sleek and well-designed, yes, but it had this clean sort of organization that Andreah didn't find often in the environment she was used to. Even so, years of sneaking into places she shouldn't have been had given Andreah enough practice to go unnoticed most of the time, but she had the feeling the man she assumed to be the Captain was far too familiar with this office to let anyone sneak past him here. The Unduli man was not likely to notice her: she was too silent to be heard and his back was to her. He was just finishing up speaking.

Wary she thought. She had seen that word in a poem once, when she was young. She remembered racing off to the computer to find out its meaning.

"Let me ask you one more thing, Tyriel," Said the Captain with a firm tone. "Do you have anything against humans? Working with them?"

Well, this question had intrigued her. The idea of her potential future squadmates loathing her company had never really crossed her thoughts. Probably because her potential future squadmates themselves had never really been a prevalent concern in Andreah's mind. One resounding no from Tyriel and it was obvious, Andreah would have to keep her guard up a lot higher than it was right now.

Cap's eyes were on someone who had made their way intot he office. They'd been waiting outside. At first his lids went thin, but then they returned to Tyriel for an answer. Maybe it was necessary for her to hear this?

Andreah's shoulders relaxed. She hadn't even noticed they had tensed until that moment. Perhaps she had approached this situation too warily... or perhaps not enough. She hadn't determined which, yet. The Captain's eyes said he acknowledged her presence. It was subtle, not even a flicker of the eyes, but there.

Every one she encountered seemed to be a twisted sort of amiable, especially this... Tyriel. Whose interactions with the Captain would be more than interesting, to say the least. But it didn't matter. Odds were, he worked the front lines or was a pilot or maybe a tactician. How much could she possibly see of him? The idea of this man with a gun in hand, fighting the actual fight, and Andreah always on the safe ship made her lips twist in an unsatisfied manner. Always on the ship while everyone else was out living.

In her head, she could hear her brother. Ready to come home now, Andy? She dismissed the thought and blinked hard, focusing on the moment at hand again.

His voice was crisp as he said, "I dunno. What do you think, ma'am?"

He was now looking directly at the one in the back.

"You think I can handle this fella?"

A small smile creeped onto his face. Of course he could, but it would prove a challenge. He had led men of this sort before, but not often enough.

Andreah was taken aback by this. Few people had even spoken to her since she left Excalibur and no one in her lifetime had ever called her 'Ma'am'.

"Yes." She said without skipping a beat. looked at the Captain, and then to Tyriel, and then back to the Captain, "I don't think it'd be too hard to."

Her eyes widened a little, and with a soft, guilty expression, as if she had insulted the Unduli man, she abruptly added, "-With all do respect. I just mean, he doesn't seem stupid and when you're hurtling through space, a smart man doesn't piss off the Captain keeping you on board."

No one knew her name and already she was probably offending people. That was probably a new record.

Captain Russell finally let his smile gain full life.

"Head on back, Tyriel. You don't need to sign anything. Just know that you'll be coming with us when we head out, yeah?"

He would then, after the unduli responded, look to the new entrant and say, "Please, sit."

Previously on Renaissance: Captain Julian Russel assembled a team of misfit specialists in an attempt to retake the human homeworld of Earth from the Jecktar Congregate. The team members so far are Jane Solara, Tyriel Tanani, Douglas "Penknife" Arthurs, Andreah Lawrence, and pilot Jaron Greer. They were all briefed on their first objective: to acquire the technology of a race only spoken of in tall tales and ancient lore. Some of them believed the captain was nuts to bank everything on these rumors, but his desperation was justified by a so-called "backup plan."

Meanwhile, Admiral Zhotan Kuro has begun to concentrate on the activities of this new team, hoping it does well on its mission to save Earth. On the other hand, Admiral Damond Price of the Federation Navy has more pessimistic views, especially after receiving news from a scouting team he sent to Earth (well, the pilot of the team). Apparently the Congregate has been augmenting humans in some way. It's unknown what the reason was.

On Earth itself, the one they call "Chief" has lost his team to the jecktar. Only time will tell whether he'll be alive by the time Cap's team reaches the planet. On a side note, it seems he and his resistance were experimenting new ways of defeating the jecktar. Could this be the solution to defeating them?

Well shall find out in the first true chapter of the series:

CHAPTER ONE: GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN.

Julian sounded off the alert to report to the Sunstrider's primary hangar bay. A large congregation was surrounding the ship now. Julian stood on the boarding ramp answering the questions of reports, some from the Republic, others from the Federation.

"It's been rumored," one human reporter began, "that your current objective is based on legends and speculation, Captain Russell. Why attempt this mission at all with such slim odds of starting, let alone success?"

Julian kept his poker face up as he answered, "I don't know where you heard that rumor, but I can say with complete certainty that it is false and should be dismissed by any who believe it in the slightest."

He wondered who had spilled the beans. There was a Non-Disclosure Agreement that everyone had to sign when asked about the Anathians.

Now, where were those crew members of his? It had been at least two hours since he sent the alert. They'd have to push through the crowd, but that'd come alone fine.

"Wait!" called a voice behind Andreah, "Are you okay? You look a bit hurt."

Actually, she wasn't okay. Suddenly, another voice spoke up. It was Tyriel, the unduli she had only briefly met before, though meeting may not have even been the proper term.

"Captain Russell, Could you please tell me where I can find the Chief Engineer? I would let to check in with them."

"Good morning, Tyriel," she turned back to the Caps, "Why wouldn't I be?" she grinned, shrugging, though even that was an effort.

Suddenly, she winced again and it didn't take a genius to figure out that the Captain saw that too. "Nope, no. Not okay. Actually, in quite a bit of pain."

She dropped her right arm and grabbed it with her left. She suspected something was fractured, but how would she know? She was no doctor.

Julian looked to Tyriel and gave half a grin. Plans were in motion.

"He's probably in the engine room right now, analyzing the warp core and running diagnostics. His name's Scott."

As Andreah responded, he looked to her. His half-grin waned and he said, "Head on in. They should've installed the new directional holo-displays. They're little arrows on various walls to direct you to where you need to go. I'd think there'd be a few to lead you to the med-bay for Doctor Coles to examine you. I hope it's okay."

He looked back at the crowd and added, "I'd go with you, but I've got these crazies to deal with."

A new smile formed as he spotted Doug from afar. Ah, Penknife. And the smile only intensified as he nodded to Greer upon arrival.

"Thanks, Caps. Good luck with your crazies."

She nodded a half goodbye to Tyriel, the Captain, and the man she had not actually met but had known to be Jaron, and went off to find the directional holo-display. It was easy enough. The med-bay, as it turned out, was on the same floor.

She hadn't met most of the crew yet, but there was plenty of time for that. She would, perhaps, properly introduce herself later. For now, names were enough, and she knew most of those, at least.

"Andreah." X-2 said in a tinny voice, wound around just her backpack now, "My knowledge of medical care is rather extensive. Would you like aid?"

"Your knowledge," Andreah continued, correcting his pronunciation, "is extensive but I think perhaps a doctor's is moreso. Maybe if you're nice he'll let you listen so you can learn." The robot made 3 high-toned beeps- a simulation of approval.

"Confirm:" it said in Andreah's own recorded voice, before continuing on in its usual, "Knowledge?"

"Knowledge. AI Comprehension mode, off. It's kind of annoying sometimes." she laughed.

The invention confirmed by repeating her and, though one could not tell yet, it resumed a more casual state, if that's what it could have been called.

Andreah realized then that she was a bit lost. "The med-bay was... eh... down there, I think?" Crap, I'm lost. And my shoulder's only hurting more. Where'd those holo-displays go?

Scott looked up from the tablet in his hand. Data on the condition of the thrusters was listed out carefully upon it. The Chief Engineer smiled at the unduli and said, "Ah, so you're the rebel, huh?"

He looked him over and held the tablet in his left hand while he extended the right, "Scott's the name. Cap's told me some interesting things about you."

"Oh my god, shut up!" Jane yelled towards the intercom for her to report to the Sunstrider as soon as possible. She pulled the pillow over her face to muffle out the message because right now all she wanted to do was sleep. She had been up all night going over maps after maps of Earth trying to familiar herself with her home planet. She let herself stay up way too late because this morning was such a pain to force herself out of bed. Once she finally managed to get her feet to the floor, she confirmed the message thirty minutes after it's arrival. "For the love of space--" She said as she slipped off her clothes and entered the small space that they kept the shower. She let herself stay in there for way too long as another message was sent for a reminder. She was in no rush to face the crowd that would welcome her to the ship.

It took a total of ten minutes to get her uniform on and fix her hair the way she wanted to be presented to the public, so as she finally exited her compartment sending her bags with a delivering officer she made pace until she could her the crowd just on the other side of the door. She took a deep breath before scanning her name for clearance and what she saw was magnificent. The ship was beautiful, but what made it more interesting was the way people actually seemed interested in this mission. She hadn't taken one step when the camera crew approached her. "Hello Jane Solara. My name is Genza Scott from the Federation. I was hoping I could get a few questions in before you are off on your way. Is that fine with you?" Jane gave a quick nod before the questions poured in from all directions. "Do you think this is your way of paying back your father for all the work he did on Earth?" Completely caught off guard by the question, she felt herself frozen. "Come again, please."

The woman had to repeat the question three more times before Jane finally gathered words to say. "I do not feel I have to pay back anybody for the work my father did. I am doing this for everyone that just wants to go home." As soon as the words came out of her mouth, she knew she had messed up. "Oh. You do not consider the Federation your home?" As soon as that reporter finished, another started. "Jane, you don't owe anybody?! Who do you think you are? You owe everybody for being alive!" This was beginning to get very overwhelming for her, so all she knew to do was run for the ship. She looked for an exit, but there wasn't one. She was trapped with a bunch of reporter that now hated her. "Could you please excuse me? I need to board the ship." She wanted to try to save the situation that was forming in front of her, but all that she managed to do was make it worse. "You want to run away from your problems, Jane? You can't run forever." Then another comment, "Did you just sign up for the mission to die, Jane? Maybe it's better to get somebody that believes in the Federation."

It took another ten minutes before an officer pushed back the reporters. Jane felt horrible. She felt the tears forming in her eyes, but refused to let these reporters get the best of her. As she finally made it next to Captain, she just walked straight past him without a word. She couldn't speak. She had been verbally beaten by the crowd of reporters and all she wanted to do was hide for days. As she came into the ship, she noticed the whole team was gathered. She kept her eye's to the ground, so nobody could see the pain that was going through her. She found a seat to the side and placed herself there until she would be dismissed by Captain Russell.
