Douglas laughed quietly at Jane's reaction to the drink. He remembered the first time he had drunk it, his reaction had been similar, but he had been less surprised.
"You're from the Federation, I take it?" Douglas asked, "Unduli drinks typically contain twice as much alchohol as those made by humans since they can proccess it twice as quickly. You get used to the stuff after a few pints."
Douglas then gulped down the rest of his glass then signalled the bartender for a refill.
"What's it like in the Federation?" Douglas asked after taking a much smaller sip than his previous gulps, "I've heard many negative things about it from many people, but from what I can tell they've almost all been biased. Is it really lead by bigots who would happily see the Republic destroyed by the Congregate or are they in the minority? I've never had the chance to visit the Excalibur or any other Federation ships myself."

"I met Greer briefly, but I haven't met anyone else, I'm not even sure Cap's found anyone else yet." Douglas replied, "Things don't seem to be going to well considering we have only got a crew of four so far and we've got a crew meeting soon. I expect he will find others, I think I saw a young Unduli man heading to the recruitment station as I was going home. He looked like an Engineer, and I'm not aware we have one on the team so far. What about you, have you had the chance to talk to any of them?"

"I.." She took a deep breath. "..need to slow down." She laughed as she brought one of her legs up to her chest on the bar stool. "Tell me about yourself. I know your past.. Kinda." She only knew what he had told her, but she wasn't one to pry. "Just a conversation starter. I feel like I'm talking non-stop.. Not giving you a chance." She said as she brushed her silver hair behind her ear.

Douglas picked up his glass and downed the rest of it, wiped the liquid left on his lips away with the back of his hand and carried on talking.
"As for my story," He began, "I was adopted by a young Unduli couple after my operation. I was still recovering from the trauma of the Cogregate's siege, and my recovery hardly came quickly. I even thought about killing myself. It tooks months before I coulod be described as sane. Once I was able to cope with the trauma I was sent to school. I did considerably better than most of my classmates, who could hardly be described as pleasant individuals. They bullied me. Once. Secondary school wasn't as bad. I had friends there who weren't bigots. I did better in secondary school, probably because my self-esteem was higher. Now you might think this is somewhat strange, but I went to a good university and studied philosophy. I could have chosen a different, better-paid, less risky career but I wouldn't have been doing my duty for the republic. I had my arm enhanced with a gun, a blade and a grappling hook to make me a better fighter. I'm a commander now, so I'm only a rank lower than Cap. Does that provide you with the answers you were looking for?"

She pushed the third glass away knowing she shouldn't drink anymore or she'd begin to get rowdy. "Want to explore the ship?" She asked before standing up. She reached for his arm, pulling him up. "Nevermind, I take the option away. Take me on a tour." She said as she waited to make sure he was willing to do so. "This way I won't get lost next time. Plus, maybe we'll run into more of our crew! Wouldn't that be exciting, right?!" Her voice hit a little bit on the excited side that she now noted would happen when she drank.

Douglas didn't resist as Jane grabbed his arm and pulled him from his seat, it would be a good idea to leave the bar before Jane made the mistake of drinking even more alchohol. Douglas was still perfectly sober, but he was much larger than Jane was, and she'd had a glass more than him.
"It certainly would be good to get to know who we're working with." Douglas agreed, "The Sunstrider's a big ship though, we'll need to keep an eye on the time though, it's getting late. So, what do you want to look at first."
