a character in “Retha: Machines and Magic”, as played by Иanophяeak

Description

Yin,
who also responds to the names of Light, Day, Sun, and Fire, is a tall, strong boy of about sixteen. His arms, face and chest are well-tanned from many hours spent shirtless in the sun, and his perpetual smile has creased lines into his happy face, framed by light ginger bangs. His features are faintly elfin, though he claims no heritage, with a thin, slightly pointed nose and upturned eyes. He's often garbed in simple white linen pants with no shirt or other garments, aside from a small red sheath, containing his shortsword. Typically found lying, running, swimming, farming, or jumping in the sun, he is always doing something. All of this energy comes at a price, however, and as soon as night rolls around, he finds it difficult to stay awake.

Yang
,
also known as Dark, Night, Moon and Ice, is a petite girl of sixteen, with a faint feel of royalty about her. Her jet-black hair hangs straight off her head, coming down nearly to her shoulders after it makes it's way past her pale face. Her somber features are rarely seen in a smile, and, though she follows Yin devotedly, she never engages in his sunlit activities. The ice blueness of her eyes is made all the colder by the dark circles under her eyes, so long embedded that they no longer bag, merely purpling the surface of her smooth skin instead. At night she is sometimes found out and about picking flowers or singing, but prefers to stay at Yin's side. She's clothed in a thin purple tunic that falls all the way to her ankles, leaving her bare feet exposed. At her waist, a dark blue dagger's sheath hangs loosely on her left side.

Personality

Yin is outgoing and enthusiastic, sometimes making mistakes in his exhilaration to get something done. Happiest in the daylight, he loves doing things in full illumination.

Yang is more patient and methodical, doing things slowly, but only for the sake of getting them done right and now. Most content in the cloak of night, she's most comfortable being hidden and self contained, avoiding showing herself when possible.

Both Yin and Yang's moods improve with proximity to the other, and worsen the farther they are apart. Their relationship is remarkably equal for the culture, and neither seems to be continuously in charge at any given time.

Equipment

Yin's blade, a gleaming shortsword made of what appears to be steel-edged silver, carries upon it an enchantment. Any area of it that comes in contact with an enemy's skin will become searingly hot, slicing through flesh without spilling a drop of blood as it burns wounds closed behind it. While he doesn't readily use it, he enjoys a fight as he enjoys all things, and will smile fiercely through a mask of blood and sweat as he duels you.

Yang's weapon is a small, antique-looking dagger, with a wooden handle, leather grip, and obsidian blade. It's bewitched with a spell of absorption, sucking into it all of the heat in anything it touches and destroying it. People cut with the blade will find the wound covered in rime, the blood in it frosted, and the skin around it hard and cracked. It doesn't take as much energy as generating the searing heat of Yin's sword, only requiring a two small spells. One of energy transference, and one of sealing. Whereas Yin's is meant to be used in open combat, with the heat as a finisher, Yang's is more for quick, assassination type kills.
