Name

Amaya Yoshida

Age

21

Appearance

Amaya is very short for her age, barely standing 4'9 (142.5 CM) foot tall and it used to bother her a lot, though she slowly got over it and decided to move onward instead. While her height might be limited, her back is so straight she often appears taller, not to mention that when not wearing anything on her feet, she only walks on her toes, adding about three inches (7.5 CM) to her height. Besides this, her weight lies around 90 pounds (41KG) because of her short body as well as light frame, though it has only proven to be an advantage over the last few years.

her body-frame is slim built and has always been that way. There is close to no unneeded fat on her body, something that helps a lot considering it is part of her job to be quick and agile. The minus however is that she is very easy to simply pick up like an object, something that has happened in the past, and she was far from happy with it.

Her face often resemble a child's, especially for people who don't know how serious she can be. Bright purple eyes that goes along with her similar colored hair, a bit round jawline and a not very long forehead. Her hair almost reach the ground when not tied up in a ponytail, and is quite dense.

Likes

  • Silence - While conversations can be alright, nothing beats the utter silence of a late night. When there is no other sound, it is as well Amaya's ideal battlefield.
  • Her art - The one last thing her father could give her along with his sword. While others view her art as blasphemy, an unnecessarily, a thief's art, Amaya knows all the good it has brought with it.
  • Sakura - Despite how opposite she is to the beautiful blooming tree, she still has a love for the tree. She loves it when the sakura flowers spread by the wind and she can watch them fly by. Maybe it is that they are so opposite that made her like them?
  • Acupuncture - Her father taught her the art of preforming acupuncture to herself and it is one of the few ways she manages to make her body relax entirely, as it is otherwise tense for one reason or another.
  • Rice - Basically anything involving rice. Her love for rice is quite apparent during meals as she hardly ever eats anything but rice dumplings, and has never been seen eating anything not including rice.
  • The night - The time of the day she is truly alive. While most of the day, she would appear as a rather bored person, she comes to life at nighttime. People often wonder when she sleeps, though it is a secret kept with her.

Dislikes

  • Noise - A lot of noise rings in her ears, not to mention that it disturbs her image of the perfect world. Yelling is the ultimate way of making her angry besides holding her by the back of her shirt.
  • Pride - Amaya doesn't believe in the term pride and thinks that it leads to a person's death faster than anything else. The reason her art is thought of as as strong as it is, is because it doesn't lie by a set of stupid rules to follow.
  • Daytime - While the night is her strength, the day is naturally her weakness. While she is still able to act like she would to some degree in well lit areas like open ground at daytime.
  • Meat - Being a vegetarian, Amaya despises meat and wouldn't eat it unless it was either the only opinion of choice, or if she was starving. She isn't very strict with it, but as long as there are meat-less opinions, she would rather chose them. This is one of the reasons she eats so much rice, despite that nobody knows.
  • Lack of fighting spirit - One thing she truly hates is when she meets someone in a fight and they have no spirit at all. She refers to it like entering a bar only to meet nobody.

Image
Fears

  • Satoru Tabasaki - Despite Amaya serving the Tabasaki family, she still fears the third-born son of the family. She knows how much he wants her dead and therefor does her best in just avoiding him.
  • Torture - While her father was training her, she messed up quite badly because she didn't entirely listen to her father. As punishment, she was forced to be kneeling onto a jagged wooden plate with a set of heavy weights on top of her legs for two days, all done in the Tabasaki residence. Despite that Ms. Chihuru said against it, her father said against her and refused to listen. Amaya spent almost a week just learning to walk again after the terrifying event, and still has scars from it.
  • Lacking a purpose in life - While it might seem stupid to some, one of Amaya's greatest fears is simply to have nothing left to do in her life. This is one of the reasons she is still staying with the Tabasaki family, because she simply doesn't have anything better to do with her life at the moment.

Strengths

  • Acrobatic - As her style of fighting as well as her job requires, Amaya is a master athlete and knows how to balance her body both to achieve maximum elevation as well as how to land perfectly.
  • Blade fighting skills - Amaya's primary weapon class are blades, primarily a bamboo sword as well as a ninjato. the ninjato gives her a positive advantage against Samurai as it is faster to move, and she gets close enough to prevent the samurai from attacking her at all because of their short distance.
  • Stealth - Moving quickly and being able to remain unseen is an important part of her work. She knows very well how to move without a single sound, as well as how to easily hide in most situations.

Weaknesses

  • Loyal - This might sound like a strength, but the problem is that Amaya is so loyal she would commit seppuku (Painful suicide technique) if she was told to by the person she served at the moment. If she receives an order, it would be followed, even if she had a better way of doing it in her head.
  • Low defense - While her offensive abilities are strong, Amaya has very little defensive attributes in order to stay as mobile as possible. She has a small neck-guard up front, but that's the only actual armor she has, meaning that if she gets hit, there is nothing to block off the cut.
  • Other ninja - While fighting against a samurai, Amaya would be at an advantage. However, she has very little experience in dealing with other ninja, so if she meet one more experienced than her, she would be likely to lose, especially if the opponent has a lot of experience in it.
  • Open areas - Open areas has few places to hide, meaning Amaya can use very little of the environment for her advantage.

Image
Personality

"Calm and professional? Of course. Overly loyal? Yeah, probably. A bit on the short side? Kind o- Shut up!" Probably the most accurate description of Amaya one will ever receive. Amaya has a very calm and collected outside, showing only the sides of her that she wants to show, hiding away the rest. A mental shield as some might refer it to. She is also very loyal to the person she is serving and any other person related to her current master, just like the way she is currently bound to the Tabasaki family. Her main weakness is probably if people comment her height, positive or negative. The worst thing she knows is being grabbed by her coat, by her neck, and lifted up, something people has done in the past. When let down again, she hasn't exactly been a sunflower towards the person lifting her and could remain hostile for several days.

She has a sweeter side that isn't often seen though, a time when she actually appears to be a girl. While she normally isn't much of a talker, she does open up every once in a while and might talk a bit more. It isn't anything people often see though, and is mainly seen when she feels depressed, sad, or remorseful.

Equipment

Bamboo sword: Her one physical gift from her father. A three-foot blade with an holed out bamboo cane as both the hilt and the sheet. While the blade isn't used very often, she still knows very well how to use it and if the situation called for it, she wouldn't have second thoughts about using it.

NinjatÃļ: A one 1'3" (37.5CM) blade, mostly straight but with a small curve by the end of the blade. Amaya's main weapon and the most commonly used. The blade is normally tied by her back and is easily reachable by either hand.

Bombs: Mainly tactical bombs like smoke bombs or flash bombs. She mainly crafts them herself and it has turned into a couple accidents, once nearly getting her arm blown off. She normally carries three flash bombs and three smoke, one long fused (~10 sec.) of each kind, one medium length (~5-7 sec) and one of short length (~2-4 sec)

History

Amaya's mother died during birth, so she was left to her father. Thus, she wasn't the strongest child that had been born to put it mildly. Her bones didn't have the same strength children with a mother would normally have, though despite not getting everything, she still grew up to be quite the handful.
Her father had troubles with raising her while working, so she was left a lot to one of+ her father's friend's wife, who after a bit of discussing, approved of the idea and let the young girl grow up with her own children and raised the girl as her own. However, when the mother of the family were having another child, Amaya was gently lifted back into the hands of her real father, less than five months after she let the young girl into her home. Despite having saved up a decent bit of money, raising her alone would be hard, thus he wished to remarry. However, being cursed by his old wife's death, he couldn't make himself love another woman. Therefor, while seeking a place to live, he stumbled into Ms. Chiyuru, who let them into her home and decided to help raising the young girl.
When she got older, her father decided he wanted to raise her like he would have raised any son he would have gotten if his wife didn't die so early. However, the girl's weak structure made it hard, but he still pressed on. It took a bit longer time than he had expected, but after a while, she started learning off him a lot quicker, and despite often going to sleep with several bruises or even cuts, she once again quickly got used to it and didn't make a big deal out of it.

One of her first missions went quite badly. She didn't obey her father because she thought she saw a better solution, but the 'better solution' had turned out to be a trap, and they both nearly got killed. Her father had seen the trap, but hadn't mentioned it for her as he was certain she would follow his orders, just like he had told her to. When they got back to the Tabasaki home, her father was furious and said a couple hundred times on the way home that he didn't allow such behavior.
Image
He was quite strict and meant that if she wasn't disciplined enough, she would never be able to do a good job later. And thus, the punishment started. Fine, it worked in the end, but it was still a gruesome tool from his side. She was forced to sit for two whole days, 48 hours, on a rugged wooden board, several heavy stone weights on top of her legs. He had intended to keep her like that for at least two more days, but Ms. Chihuru said no and threatened with having him executed if he didn't stop it, something he did. During the two days, the second floor had been off limits for everyone as the children's mother refused to let anyone see or hear what was happening in the room where Amaya sat. She cried more tears than she ever would again, but never once begged to be let out again. She was sick for around a week afterwards, but the method her father had used worked, and she never once disobeyed orders again. To him, or to anyone else who could be considered as in command.

Her father eventually passed away as well though, nobody knew why. However, he had finished Amaya's education less than a month beforehand, and she could take over his place, something she soon did. All his belongings as well as money was transferred over to her, but she still burned everything he had owned apart from his sword. When asked, all she answered was that she didn't want to be cursed by the past, something that was part true. All his belongings as well as a bloody wooden board were burned that day, in order to be never seen again.

The day Ms. Chihuru was killed along with the oldest son, Amaya had been sent out to check something for the woman, something she had done. She had of course no idea that the woman would be killed that day, but she was, and Amaya felt that she had failed at the job that had been chosen for her. However, it wasn't entirely true as she had done what she had been told. Her position was transferred over to the new head of the family, the currently oldest son, who she respected for his decision of avenging his mother, despite thinking that he was tugging on to the past.

Other

Since Ms. Chihuru's death, Amaya has worked for a reduced income, something she offered herself. She currently earns 10 000 yen a month instead of 31 000. However, she keeps track of what the family owes her name, and has been told that she'd get it back once the family were powerful and rich again. With the reduced pay rate, she has also been given more freedom, though she hasn't had much reason for it.

So begins...

It was late at night, and most of the house had gone to sleep. The silence was consuming the essence of people being around, something some might enjoy, while other might detest. Regardless, the house was silent, and it was late at night, the moon being the only light source from outside.

A lonely light was lit in the upper end room in the Tabayahi residence, a small oil lamp hanging from the wooden roof by an old thread. The room was mostly not decorated, the only kind of ornaments that it sported was a small square table and a two-tiered cherry-wood weapon rack, one long sword and one short. The short was covered in bamboo while the other had a thin, sturdy leather scabbard. The only light source in the room apart from the oil lantern over the table was the circular window, sharing a dim tone of gray coming from the moon, a light easily consumed by the burning oil. The room didn't even have anything a normal person would consider as comfortable, it was just... Floor and walls.

By the small table in the center of the room sat a lone woman, her hair flowing down her back and her eyes focused on the sensitive equipment she was holding in her hands. One small shell in form of a small pipe, and a small metal pin in the other hand, as she slowly united the small bits.

Sadly enough, cheap equipment comes with the cost of being unreliable. The pin she had been trying to place had been a splinter, and the shell was a bombshell, filled with a light-emitting powder as well as gunpowder. It wasn't the ideal thing to buy cheap.

A loud bang could be heard trough the whole house, and from the window pointing out, a short beam of white light shot out, filling the night with its rays.

The woman sitting by the table, better known as Amaya, was holding her left hand in her burning eyes, not having noticed in time that the splinter for the bomb she had been making had felt into the mixture of yellow and gray powder. She had barely managed to let go of the advanced piece of technology before it went off. It was an embarrassment, undoubtedly. The whole house would probably be woken up. The only one she truly felt sorry for was Akemi, as she would have to deal with her younger brother. The others would probably not be all too affected, though she had no doubts that some would get angry to say the least. She would simply have to explain and then take whatever punishment or whatever the house decided to put upon her.

Currently though, she only had her ears to rely on though. She would be blinded for quite the while considering how close the grenade had detonated to her, and her eyes was drowning in water from the way too bright light, and her ears hurt from the loud bang. Regardless, she was still alive, which was the most important. She was currently bent over so her hand was resting on the floor with her eyes held down to the purple cloth, covering them from any other light, as it would simply hurt. The best way to neutralize the effect was to simply cover her eyes, or so her father had told her at least.

She could already hear footsteps in the hallway and was sure that someone was coming. Damn, this would be hard to explain...

Meanwhile, on the other end of Kyoto, there was a quite different party sitting around a differently shaped table in a bigger, better lit up room. The part consisted of twelve men from Kyoto, rich business owners, Samurai families that had lost their land, you name it. On the end of the table, there was one quite well known man, simply known as Kobayashi. The men had been sitting there for four hours straight, but couldn't end at such a moment because it would mean bad luck. Kobayashi had been leading the discussion till now, though he suddenly now let the rest of the table talk.

The discussion had been mainly about how they should split the wealth killing off the entire Tabasaki family would give. A strong samurai wanted friends that could back one up when things were going dire, and that was exactly what the Kobayashi was going. The more friends, the more strength, and the more forces. Most store-owners had trained one of their sons to serve the emperor, but since nothing was going on, they could be considered as Ronin, and if there was one thing the powerhungry head of the murderous family wanted, it was more power, power to beat down all the enemies he could ever encounter.

The unmistakable sound of the base of a cane gently coming to rest on the wooden floor slowly drew closer to Amaya's room.

The pacing of the sounds was distinctly leisurely, as though their creator had all the time in the world to get where he was going. Their creator, a shirtless young man whose European features would have stood out in any crowd in Japan, wore a look of mild amusement as he slowly but surely made his way down the hall, a bottle of sake loosely dangling in his left hand while he leaned on his gaudy cane with his right. While the only thing he was wearing at the moment were baggy brown breeches which covered his ruined right leg, some of his scars from that experience were still visible on the right side of his lower stomach and all across his chest.

The reason for Joaquim's incomplete outfit was that he had been just laying down to finally go to sleep when... something... exploded. While an explosion like that might be alarming to most people, panic was not a feeling that Joaquim was familiar with. Besides, Joaquim was intimately familiar with the workings of explosives. Based purely on the sound, it had undoubtedly been an unpleasant mistake in whatever activity Miss Yoshida had been getting up to, but not a possibly fatal one. Still, at the very least he felt obliged to check up on the poor girl and, maybe if she was feeling up to it, trying again under his supervision. If it involved explosives, Joaquim felt, it could always be better if it involved him.

Another cane-assisted step, another swig of sake.

Joaquim finally came to a halt just outside of Amaya's room, took yet another swig from sake bottle and gave a gentle series of raps against the wall with his cane. He had rushed into the room of a lady without knocking before. He would rather have lost the use of his other leg than have another experience like that one. He ran the hand holding the bottle of sake through his hair, getting himself ready.

"Everything all right in there, love? That sounded an awful lot like an explosion." The words took longer than Joaquim would have liked. It would have sounded poetic in his native Portuguese, or even one of the other Romance languages, but Joaquim's Japanese was slow, the pronunciation of all the most important words was just a bit off. Joaquim gave a quick sigh of annoyance. He never would quite get the hang of this language. "Can I come in?" A simple phrase like that, Joaquim could handle.

The first person appearing was undoubtedly Joaquim. The rhythmical sound of the cane knocking towards the floor as the man walked down the hallway was impossible to miss. She could even hear the sound of liquid being shifted around in a bottle. It was probably some alcohol, and it was definitely Joaquim who was drinking from it, just like always. While she didn't have any problem with alcohol, she wondered how he could afford drinking as much as he did, it wasn't cheap after all, and being drunk wasn't the best when working, not that she really knew what he did for the household.

The second person was... Akio. It was the pattern of the walking that told it. He was heavier than any female in the house, and he did not have a cane like Joaquim. Besides that, Satoru would have walked a lot softer, and as well as that, he was heavier than Akio because of his more muscular build. Also, Satoru's walking pattern would have been entirely different. While Sayuri doubted that Akio would be armed and move in an attack stance, Satoru undoubtedly would have and therefor, there was little to no chance that the person coming after Joaquim was Akio. Well, either that, or a heavy lady, something she doubted.

Now, there was only one thing yet. How would she reply. She didn't want to appear as weak by just letting them in, but on the other hand, some water to clean her eyes would have been good. She could probably walk down to the first floor pretty silently just based on how many times she stepped forward. However, she would only be pushing aside what was impossible to avoid. She would, in the end, have to explain herself. She stood up and grabbed the shortest blade, the ninjato, from the rack before slowly walking towards the sliding door leading to the hallway. She kept one sleeve in front of her eyes for the walk, and as she passed the table, she pushed off the scabbard and flipped the blade around so it was in a defensive stance. She could rely on just her hearing and defend herself for a good while, at least till her eyesight came back. Hopefully however, she wouldn't have to do anything.

She only had one free hand, and that was the one covering her eyes. What should she do? Uncovering her eyes was probably the smartest, she couldn't keep them covered for hours anyways. And so she did, closing her eyes in an instant. They burned, the dim light from the lantern was more than enough to make her squeal slightly in pain, though it was so faint that without listening, she doubted that anyone would hear it, though it was of course not impossible. She wiped over her eyes with the sleeve of the loose hanging purple shirt before putting one hand on the door. Her eyes remained closed for the time being. She couldn't reach up to the lantern without jumping, and she didn't exactly want to mess around with burning oil without seeing anything. She would have to ask at least one of the two men to come inside and turn out the light so she could open her eyes again.

One hand rested on the sliding door's handle for a couple seconds before she slid it open in a slow motion, and only about halfway. When she opened the door, she was already sitting on her knees respectfully. Since she had created disorder, it would have been straight out rude to not show any sign of apologize. "Joaquim-San-" There was a slight pause as she slowly opened her eyes and looked up, just to make sure. "Akio-dono, I apologize for creating disorder and disturbing you, it wasn't intentional and won't happen again" One hand still held the straight blade, though it was quite loosely. Her other hand was resting on the floor as she bent forward in apologize, some of her front hair-locks touching the wooden floor. The lantern continued to flicker ever so lightly in the background, and the seconds felt like hours as the young woman waited for any sort of response from one of the two men.

Akemi, that night, had to sit in her room for nearly a whole hour because her brother had a nightmare. Because of that, she sat near her bed, which was taken by Mamoru, until he'd finally fall asleep. The whole time she hoped for silence, that way she wouldn't have to wait any longer. As much as she loved her brother, she also couldn't risk falling behind in her job as a servant for the Tabasaki family.

Just after she heard his light snores, she quickly, but silently got out of the room to take a midnight walk. Despite how tired she was, she didn't exactly feel like she had to sleep, and definitely didn't want to just yet, thus explaining her stride around the house at night.

While she began to walk around, her hands folded into her pink kimono while her white hair nearly dragged at her feet, she heard small noises coming from a few feet in front of her. After proceeding to walk just a little further, she saw Keira, the oldest daughter of the family that Akemi took a great liking to. Seeing her practice with a sword made Akemi a little anxious that she'd hurt herself, but she knew how much the girl didn't like her saying things like that and only approached slowly.

Unfortunately, her thoughts were right and a yelp came from the eldest daughter. Akemi broke out into a small sprint, being careful not to wake the others in the house, thinking they were all asleep and kneeled at her side before whispering with a concerned look in her eyes after hearing her whisper, "Akemi..."

"I'm here, Keira-sama." She said silently, so that only she could hear since she didn't want any others to be woken up on her according. Whatever punishment she'd get for that would definitely be the worst, "I'll wrap up the wound... Please be careful when practicing the art of the sword. It's very dangerous and it's horrible to see you hurt this way..." She said, a motherly frown on her face as she, without needing to think, ripped off part of the sleeve of her kimono and gently began to wrap it around Keira's finger.

Suddenly something went off, sounding like an explosion. It sounded loud, and the night sky suddenly became brighter than the moonlight. From instinct, Akemi immediately stood up and began to search the perimeter, unaware of what was going on. Even though she couldn't exactly fight, it was still her duty to protect the Tabasaki family at all costs.

Once the light faded, she turned back to Keira with a smile and said gently, "Please excuse me for a moment." She did a small and formal bow, as she always did before hurrying to where she sensed the explosion to have come from, 'What... was that...' She wondered to herself, even more concerned, but this time for the whole family.

Finally, Akemi arrived to what appeared to be Amaya Yoshida's room, and there were already two people there. She recognized one to be the second son of the Tabasaki family, Akio, one of the people she almost feared, and the other figure, after a great deal of adjusting to the darkness after the flash of light, to be Joaquim Espada, a foreigner and also a servant. For a small moment, in the dark, she could have sworn she saw him drawing his katana, "Akio-sama-"

Akemi then saw that the door slide open as Amaya revealed herself, only seeing Akio and Joaquim as Akemi was further out of view, "Joaquim-San, Akio-dono, I apologize for creating disorder and disturbing you, it wasn't intentional and won't happen again."

Akemi raised an eyebrow and walked a little closer to see what was going on, but even though the two of them were practically servants to the Tabasaki family, she wasn't rude enough to glance into her room but instead asked calmly, addressing Amaya normally, but with a little more respect than usual since she didn't want to appear that informal in front of the head son, "Amaya-san... What were you doing, exactly?"

As Akio drew closer to the figure, he realized it was only the short form of Joaquim, obviously up to no good. In one hand he held his cane and in the other... his cursed flask of sake. Akio reddened realizing his own stupidity. He was just growing a bit antsy, that was all. He hoped no-one had noticed his act of stupidity as he prepared to sheath his katana.

As if to answer his thoughts, he heard a feminine voice resonate, "Akio-sama-" Akio cringed, as he turned to see Akemi's small figure standing close-by. As he quickly sheathed his katana he opened his tessen and began to fan himself awkwardly trying to make the warmth enveloping his reddening face recede.

As he revived his stride towards Joaquim, he saw the door to Amaya's room open and he heard Amaya's voice. "Joaquim-San-" A moment later her voice returned, "Akio-dono, I apologize for creating disorder and disturbing you, it wasn't intentional and won't happen again." Akio was quite surprised that she had known he was there all along. Obviously he would have to work on muffling his footsteps from the ear. He then heard Akemi's voice sing in reply, "Amaya-san... What were you doing, exactly?"

After a few moments of silence, Akio realized that Amaya was waiting for a response, which he abruptly gave. "It is quite alright," Akio replied. "because I'm assuming you were doing something quite important in the process." He snapped. Akio didn't even bother to look at Amaya until now, and he realized she genuinely was sorry. "No really, I don't mind." Akio said softening his tone.

Just then, Akio remembered Akemi. He grudgingly turned to face her. "Yes Akemi? Is there something you would like to say?

'Your stance is off, Satoru!' His teacher would continuously scold him, tapping his left ankle with her bamboo pole gently, but hard enough to give him a reminder that it was his third mess up that day with the same position, 'Standing like this is an easy opening for your left knee to be struck, and you will never be able to reach to defend in time. Thus, you would be injured on your shin and most likely tumbled over as it is an obvious welcome to any flip.'

Satoru looked at her with awe that she knew so much about the next move his opponent would make, if he was fighting one, but during this time where he gawked at her, she rolled her eyes and did the exact thing she described, slapping his knee with the stick as he went down to grab it out of instinct and pain before them flipping him around and back onto his back. The 13 year old child was no chance against her, 'You didn't fix it in time.' She'd say with a small smile tugging at her lips before ruffling his hair after he sucked up the pain and grinned back at her. Those were the good days.

Then, she got sick.

'Kou!' Satoru began to yell, three years later once he figured out his teacher, who he thought of as family, was dying, 'Kou!' He repeated, tears filling his eyes like the child he really was, deep down.

The woman with black hair, lying on the bed, her breath scarcely loud now, raised a hand and patted the boy's head and said to him with her usual smile, 'Not bad for a kid your age. You did well.' She coughed out blood, a lot of it, which spilled onto the white bedding that covered her sick body before shakily reaching for the sword at her side and handing it towards Satoru, 'I, Kou Yamamori, am your teacher, and will always be your teacher. Remember that.' She cackled.

Satoru took the sword with his weak hands that easily dropped them before turning his focus back onto his teacher, 'You can't leave me like this! You're family now! You can't just... You can't...' He was cut off again by the twitching in his jaw, trying his best to stop crying.

'Make me proud.' Was the last words before his dear teacher took her last breath.

Suddenly, flash backs of his mother and oldest brother's death played in Satoru's head during his dream. He twitched in his sleep, a frown forming on his face as his vision went red from all the blood on the ground. A horrid and terrible sight, and he could hear the screams of the two, the worst thing he could ever possibly hear.

This set him off as he quickly woke up, and, out of instinct like always, reached for his sword, drawing the katana half way until noticing he was only in his room and it was still night. Satoru was soaking in sweat, breathing incredibly heavy, and definitely was feeling light headed. After waiting a little longer, he laid down again, resting his head on the pillow before sighing, "You over worry too much." He told himself, but then the worry came back after an explosion went off and a bright light shined through his thin door.

Without even needing any thoughts of explanations, he scrambled up, taking his sword in his hand. He didn't bother to get dressed into proper clothing. Instead, her dashed out the door and headed directly to where he thought the explosion came from, and after knowing which room it was, he scowled, "What the hell did you do this time." He growled at Amaya behind the group, though being in sight seeing how two of them weren't very tall.

"My, my." Joaquim looked over his shoulder to grin at Akio. "Murder on the mind, my lord?" He kept the playful smile on his lips as he locked eyes with the older man for just a moment, then a tiny chuckle escaped his mouth. "Best save that for the Kobayashi, Akio-kun." Playing with honorifics was one of the benefits of being a foreigner. If somebody took serious offense, he could just play it off as being a strange foreigner with a poor grasp of the language. With the tiniest of shrugs, Joaquim returned his attention to the rest of the gathering group.

Akemi arrived first, followed shortly by Saturo. Joaquim gave Akemi an expedited yet exaggerated bow. "My muse." Saturo had harsh words for Amaya, as usual. Joaquim was, at that point, too lost in his now racing thoughts to give his own acknowledgement to Saturo.

Having heard their questions, Joaquim couldn't help but wonder. Amaya had apologized, yes, but his curiosity was not yet sated. Explosions were wonderful gifts and at the thought of Amaya practicing with such things, Joaquim's face immediately lit up. A mischievous smirk played its way across his lips as he thought out his best course of action, his curiosity having overwhelmed him.

Well, maybe it wasn't the best plan. But it was definitely the most entertaining. He had other motives too, of course. If he could make Amaya the victim instead of the source of the disturbance, that might alleviate some of whatever ire her little experiment had earned her from the rest of the household.

Joaquim gave a yawn and a feline stretch of the arms, at least as best as he could do without losing his balance or dropping his sake. "Well since I'm already up anyways..." With uncanny alacrity for a crippled man, Joaquim brushed his way through the doorframe and hobbled into Amaya's room, managing to find a moment within that motion to down a swig of sake. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, but he would know when he found it. Perhaps some trace of whatever had caused that lovely explosion. Excuses for his actions already flitted through his mind, though at this point he was planning on simply brushing off any accusations of impropriety.

"My muse."

Akemi turned her head slightly to look at the man who was eye level with her. She made an odd face at the words, not really understanding his words at first, but then slightly nodding as she turned back to Amaya. She also bowed to the second son as he approached the group, although she paid little mind to his rude mouthing towards Amaya as she knew she'd be punished for speaking up.

"I was making a bomb. However, it is harmless towards other than people, so please don't fear I would ruin the house. It only makes a loud sound and a bright flash."

On usual terms, when the two were alone and away from the other members of the family, she'd probably giggle at how curious she is about the outside world's weapons, but instead, she kept a straight face and said, "I see. Please refrain from doing such activities in the middle of the night. It may interrupt the Tabasaki Family's sleep, and will also lessen your sleep also." She said maturely and respectfully, reflecting the attitude of a very polite woman.

Just as she was going to continue to listen to Amaya, she heard the oldest son's voice beforehand, "Yes Akemi? Is there something you would like to say?"

She turned back to him. Akemi, in the beginning, was going to ask what he was doing, raising his sword to Joaquim, but since he seemed to have put his sword back into its sheath, she quickly noticed, she made sure not to make any notice of that. She was a little late when she recognized that if she asked that she'd probably get in trouble, and would rather not at that moment. Akemi, most of all, needed a job to fund her life and her brother's especially.

It was when when she was able to remember the oldest daughter and immediately saying, struggling to hide the concern in her voice for the girl, "Keira-sama, your sister, is hurt. Please, tend to her wounds as I have only stopped the bleeding temporarily." She said, a small frown being concealed in the darkness as she began to walk in a certain direction, bowing to the group to be excused as she motioned, in a respectful way, for Akio to follow her as she would lead him to his injured sister.

Akio clenched his jaw tightly. It was just like Joaquim to rub salt in the wound, especially on one that affected his dignity. He thought about responding to Joaquim's lines, but decided it would only dig the pit deeper. So he just sighed deeply instead, as he heard Amaya's reply to Akemi and an angry Satoru. "I was making a bomb. However, it is harmless towards other than people, so please don't fear I would ruin the house. It only makes a loud sound and a bright flash"
As Akio saw Amaya pulling out shards of...something, possibly metal out of her skin, Akio felt his own skin crawl. "I apologize for not waiting, but if I don't pull them out, it could kill me, I'm afraid these things are slightly poisonous, it wasn't planned as I didn't get what I wanted when I was buying the parts." That wasn't good, "Hopefully she'll be fine." Akio thought.

He then heard Akemi's reply to his earlier question, "Keira-sama, your sister, is hurt. Please, tend to her wounds as I have only stopped the bleeding temporarily."

"Smart girl," Akio thought. "the idea is not with faults though, since I'm no doctor." Akio sighed. "Nevertheless, I should still offer her my thanks..." Akio began to follow Akemi, and as he passed Satoru, he quietly spoke. "Satoru, please make sure that everyone returns to their quarters," Akio caught a glance at Joaquim's sitting figure inside of Amaya's room. "including him, then please return, I will return shortly myself." After he finished speaking, Akio continued to follow Akemi towards his "injured" sister.

Akemi nodded thankfully once she saw the oldest son, now, of the family following just behind her. She took a glance at Amaya, then at Satoru, and then back at the young girl. She gave her an anxious look on her face, almost as if it were a warning that she should head to sleep as soon as possible, but turned away before she got any weird looks from anyone in sight.

"I'm not sure what happened exactly." Akemi murmured a bit, going back to Keira, quickening her pace a bit so she could get to the injured girl faster, but not too fast that the man behind her would have trouble keeping up to, "I was still awake after my brother fell asleep and decided to take a walk around the grounds. She was practicing her sword training, and I thought things were fine but then..." She sighed, "It's not too much of a bad cut, but I suggest asking for a doctor or someone of medical profession to tend to her injury."

While continuing to walk, she passed her own room where she heard her baby brother waking up, judging from the movement of sheets in the room. She flushed a bit, stopped in her foot tracks, and turned to the Tabasaki son, "Akio-sama, please excuse me." She said hesitantly, "I'm afraid my brother may wake the whole establishment, and I will quiet him down. Your sister is just a bit a head from here. Please watch over her and I'll join the two of you shortly." Akemi bowed respectfully and backed away, opening the door into her room and looking down at her little brother, Mamoru, who seemed to have awoken from a nightmare and was crying, a little loudly also.
