Amaya Yoshida
Age
21
Appearance
Amaya is very short for her age, barely standing 4'9 (142.5 CM) foot tall and it used to bother her a lot, though she slowly got over it and decided to move onward instead. While her height might be limited, her back is so straight she often appears taller, not to mention that when not wearing anything on her feet, she only walks on her toes, adding about three inches (7.5 CM) to her height. Besides this, her weight lies around 90 pounds (41KG) because of her short body as well as light frame, though it has only proven to be an advantage over the last few years.
her body-frame is slim built and has always been that way. There is close to no unneeded fat on her body, something that helps a lot considering it is part of her job to be quick and agile. The minus however is that she is very easy to simply pick up like an object, something that has happened in the past, and she was far from happy with it.
Her face often resemble a child's, especially for people who don't know how serious she can be. Bright purple eyes that goes along with her similar colored hair, a bit round jawline and a not very long forehead. Her hair almost reach the ground when not tied up in a ponytail, and is quite dense.
- Silence - While conversations can be alright, nothing beats the utter silence of a late night. When there is no other sound, it is as well Amaya's ideal battlefield.
- Her art - The one last thing her father could give her along with his sword. While others view her art as blasphemy, an unnecessarily, a thief's art, Amaya knows all the good it has brought with it.
- Sakura - Despite how opposite she is to the beautiful blooming tree, she still has a love for the tree. She loves it when the sakura flowers spread by the wind and she can watch them fly by. Maybe it is that they are so opposite that made her like them?
- Acupuncture - Her father taught her the art of preforming acupuncture to herself and it is one of the few ways she manages to make her body relax entirely, as it is otherwise tense for one reason or another.
- Rice - Basically anything involving rice. Her love for rice is quite apparent during meals as she hardly ever eats anything but rice dumplings, and has never been seen eating anything not including rice.
- The night - The time of the day she is truly alive. While most of the day, she would appear as a rather bored person, she comes to life at nighttime. People often wonder when she sleeps, though it is a secret kept with her.
- Noise - A lot of noise rings in her ears, not to mention that it disturbs her image of the perfect world. Yelling is the ultimate way of making her angry besides holding her by the back of her shirt.
- Pride - Amaya doesn't believe in the term pride and thinks that it leads to a person's death faster than anything else. The reason her art is thought of as as strong as it is, is because it doesn't lie by a set of stupid rules to follow.
- Daytime - While the night is her strength, the day is naturally her weakness. While she is still able to act like she would to some degree in well lit areas like open ground at daytime.
- Meat - Being a vegetarian, Amaya despises meat and wouldn't eat it unless it was either the only opinion of choice, or if she was starving. She isn't very strict with it, but as long as there are meat-less opinions, she would rather chose them. This is one of the reasons she eats so much rice, despite that nobody knows.
- Lack of fighting spirit - One thing she truly hates is when she meets someone in a fight and they have no spirit at all. She refers to it like entering a bar only to meet nobody.
- Satoru Tabasaki - Despite Amaya serving the Tabasaki family, she still fears the third-born son of the family. She knows how much he wants her dead and therefor does her best in just avoiding him.
- Torture - While her father was training her, she messed up quite badly because she didn't entirely listen to her father. As punishment, she was forced to be kneeling onto a jagged wooden plate with a set of heavy weights on top of her legs for two days, all done in the Tabasaki residence. Despite that Ms. Chihuru said against it, her father said against her and refused to listen. Amaya spent almost a week just learning to walk again after the terrifying event, and still has scars from it.
- Lacking a purpose in life - While it might seem stupid to some, one of Amaya's greatest fears is simply to have nothing left to do in her life. This is one of the reasons she is still staying with the Tabasaki family, because she simply doesn't have anything better to do with her life at the moment.
- Acrobatic - As her style of fighting as well as her job requires, Amaya is a master athlete and knows how to balance her body both to achieve maximum elevation as well as how to land perfectly.
- Blade fighting skills - Amaya's primary weapon class are blades, primarily a bamboo sword as well as a ninjato. the ninjato gives her a positive advantage against Samurai as it is faster to move, and she gets close enough to prevent the samurai from attacking her at all because of their short distance.
- Stealth - Moving quickly and being able to remain unseen is an important part of her work. She knows very well how to move without a single sound, as well as how to easily hide in most situations.
- Loyal - This might sound like a strength, but the problem is that Amaya is so loyal she would commit seppuku (Painful suicide technique) if she was told to by the person she served at the moment. If she receives an order, it would be followed, even if she had a better way of doing it in her head.
- Low defense - While her offensive abilities are strong, Amaya has very little defensive attributes in order to stay as mobile as possible. She has a small neck-guard up front, but that's the only actual armor she has, meaning that if she gets hit, there is nothing to block off the cut.
- Other ninja - While fighting against a samurai, Amaya would be at an advantage. However, she has very little experience in dealing with other ninja, so if she meet one more experienced than her, she would be likely to lose, especially if the opponent has a lot of experience in it.
- Open areas - Open areas has few places to hide, meaning Amaya can use very little of the environment for her advantage.
"Calm and professional? Of course. Overly loyal? Yeah, probably. A bit on the short side? Kind o- Shut up!" Probably the most accurate description of Amaya one will ever receive. Amaya has a very calm and collected outside, showing only the sides of her that she wants to show, hiding away the rest. A mental shield as some might refer it to. She is also very loyal to the person she is serving and any other person related to her current master, just like the way she is currently bound to the Tabasaki family. Her main weakness is probably if people comment her height, positive or negative. The worst thing she knows is being grabbed by her coat, by her neck, and lifted up, something people has done in the past. When let down again, she hasn't exactly been a sunflower towards the person lifting her and could remain hostile for several days.
She has a sweeter side that isn't often seen though, a time when she actually appears to be a girl. While she normally isn't much of a talker, she does open up every once in a while and might talk a bit more. It isn't anything people often see though, and is mainly seen when she feels depressed, sad, or remorseful.
Bamboo sword: Her one physical gift from her father. A three-foot blade with an holed out bamboo cane as both the hilt and the sheet. While the blade isn't used very often, she still knows very well how to use it and if the situation called for it, she wouldn't have second thoughts about using it.
NinjatÃļ: A one 1'3" (37.5CM) blade, mostly straight but with a small curve by the end of the blade. Amaya's main weapon and the most commonly used. The blade is normally tied by her back and is easily reachable by either hand.
Bombs: Mainly tactical bombs like smoke bombs or flash bombs. She mainly crafts them herself and it has turned into a couple accidents, once nearly getting her arm blown off. She normally carries three flash bombs and three smoke, one long fused (~10 sec.) of each kind, one medium length (~5-7 sec) and one of short length (~2-4 sec)
Amaya's mother died during birth, so she was left to her father. Thus, she wasn't the strongest child that had been born to put it mildly. Her bones didn't have the same strength children with a mother would normally have, though despite not getting everything, she still grew up to be quite the handful.
Her father had troubles with raising her while working, so she was left a lot to one of+ her father's friend's wife, who after a bit of discussing, approved of the idea and let the young girl grow up with her own children and raised the girl as her own. However, when the mother of the family were having another child, Amaya was gently lifted back into the hands of her real father, less than five months after she let the young girl into her home. Despite having saved up a decent bit of money, raising her alone would be hard, thus he wished to remarry. However, being cursed by his old wife's death, he couldn't make himself love another woman. Therefor, while seeking a place to live, he stumbled into Ms. Chiyuru, who let them into her home and decided to help raising the young girl.
When she got older, her father decided he wanted to raise her like he would have raised any son he would have gotten if his wife didn't die so early. However, the girl's weak structure made it hard, but he still pressed on. It took a bit longer time than he had expected, but after a while, she started learning off him a lot quicker, and despite often going to sleep with several bruises or even cuts, she once again quickly got used to it and didn't make a big deal out of it.
One of her first missions went quite badly. She didn't obey her father because she thought she saw a better solution, but the 'better solution' had turned out to be a trap, and they both nearly got killed. Her father had seen the trap, but hadn't mentioned it for her as he was certain she would follow his orders, just like he had told her to. When they got back to the Tabasaki home, her father was furious and said a couple hundred times on the way home that he didn't allow such behavior.
He was quite strict and meant that if she wasn't disciplined enough, she would never be able to do a good job later. And thus, the punishment started. Fine, it worked in the end, but it was still a gruesome tool from his side. She was forced to sit for two whole days, 48 hours, on a rugged wooden board, several heavy stone weights on top of her legs. He had intended to keep her like that for at least two more days, but Ms. Chihuru said no and threatened with having him executed if he didn't stop it, something he did. During the two days, the second floor had been off limits for everyone as the children's mother refused to let anyone see or hear what was happening in the room where Amaya sat. She cried more tears than she ever would again, but never once begged to be let out again. She was sick for around a week afterwards, but the method her father had used worked, and she never once disobeyed orders again. To him, or to anyone else who could be considered as in command.
Her father eventually passed away as well though, nobody knew why. However, he had finished Amaya's education less than a month beforehand, and she could take over his place, something she soon did. All his belongings as well as money was transferred over to her, but she still burned everything he had owned apart from his sword. When asked, all she answered was that she didn't want to be cursed by the past, something that was part true. All his belongings as well as a bloody wooden board were burned that day, in order to be never seen again.
The day Ms. Chihuru was killed along with the oldest son, Amaya had been sent out to check something for the woman, something she had done. She had of course no idea that the woman would be killed that day, but she was, and Amaya felt that she had failed at the job that had been chosen for her. However, it wasn't entirely true as she had done what she had been told. Her position was transferred over to the new head of the family, the currently oldest son, who she respected for his decision of avenging his mother, despite thinking that he was tugging on to the past.
Since Ms. Chihuru's death, Amaya has worked for a reduced income, something she offered herself. She currently earns 10 000 yen a month instead of 31 000. However, she keeps track of what the family owes her name, and has been told that she'd get it back once the family were powerful and rich again. With the reduced pay rate, she has also been given more freedom, though she hasn't had much reason for it.
