Abilities
As a shapeshifter, this young man is able to undergo metamorphosis at will, and transform his body into a variety of different forms. He has the possibilities of changing into a number of different appearances, however, he is only limited to two forms when not nourished by the meat of another creature. His first form is that of a West African Lion. With the appearance of a lion, he is also granted the sharp claws of a lion, as well as its roar, superb eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell. He is also very fast in this form, able to outrun most cars with enough energy. (He normally reaches up to 50 mph when sprinting) Since the shapeshifters around Teraton tend to act like law enforcement, Chris primarily uses his lion form whenever he is in a chase, or when having to defend himself/others in a brawl.

His second form is that of a snake. A king cobra, to be exact. In this frightening appearance, Christopher trades his speed and prowess in battle for stealth and silence. Although his sense of smell is heightened as a lion, it reaches its peak ability when he is a snake, which makes his king cobra form perfect for tracking down people who are on the run. With loose jaws, he can produce small yet incredibly powerful attacks by biting enemies or other people who just so happen to get in his way. He can even poison his victims by secreting venom from his fangs, however, doing this takes up a lot of his energy, and he is often left in a weak state after performing such an action. He rarely ever poisons people anyway, as the venom can kill in a matter of seconds, and Chris has qualms with murder.

Skills
Chef- Cooking is just something that comes natural to Chris. He enjoys it and uses it as his own form of meditation.
Leader- Even though he'll let someone else do it if they volunteer, he is a born leader, often times helping people cultivate skills and talents that they never thought they could perform.
Counselor- An excellent source of advice, Chris is good about confronting any emotional problems his friends may have. Interested in psychology, he actually gets pleasure from it.
Writing- Like cooking, writing is also something that comes naturally to him. This isn't always a good thing, however, as he tends to send REALLY long text messages...

Weaknesses
Awkward- Although he may be friendly, courageous, and outgoing, there are some times when Chris can become shy and awkward. This usually happens when he's embarrassed or nervous.
Stubborn- Tenacious might be a better word to use. Sometimes he'll never give up on something until he sees it through, which can be good and bad. Combined with his selfless personality, this can make him a great candidate to become a martyr.
Nut Allergy- He is almost fatally allergic to nuts, which has caused him a great deal of trouble and trauma in his childhood. He usually carries an epipen around with him for safe measure, but sometimes he forgets to take it with him...
Full Moons- Full moons are nightmares for shapeshifters, because once it shows, they are forced to transform uncontrollably. Unfortunately, full moons also cause Chris to become unstable mental-wise. He always prepares for full moons so that he doesn't hurt anyone while they occur.

Fears
| Getting caught in a tornado | Losing a loved one | Burning to death | Getting stabbed with a knife or any other insanely sharp object | Drowning | Solitude for very long periods of time |

| Righteous | Determined | Dynamic | Adventurous | Stubborn | Humanitarian | Brave | Caring | Outgoing | Awkward |

Chris tries to live as though he is the protagonist of his own movie. Constantly looking for action and adventure, he is dynamic, energetic, friendly and also somewhat impatient. Even if he has nothing to do, he will find something, as he always wants to keep himself active. Warm and enthusiastic, he has a bright spirit and is always capable of gaining more potential and new opportunities. He has a great work ethic, and will push himself to work harder when he wants or needs to. With his determination and ability to learn quickly, he is capable of anything if he sets his mind to it. While also having a sound body and an intelligent mind, Chris is a master when it comes to reading emotions. He gives good advice to people with problems that particularly deal with emotions. In fact, he finds joy from it, as he is studying psychology in college and is interested in learning the behaviors of people and their minds.

A compassionate humanitarian, Chris cares for his friends and family to an enormous extent, and falls into deep despair when he sees one of them hurt or broken. He is even susceptible to the emotions of strangers as well, and has been known to help people he barely even recognizes. There are times when he likes to play sheriff around Teraton, as he is part of the shapeshifter pack. However, Chris never abuses his power, and refuses to convict an innocent person of a crime without proof. He stands for this even if there is a good chance the person accused is actually guilty. In addition to what he stands for, Chris has his own set of values/morals that he lives by. He, unfortunately, is physically and mentally incapable of breaking the strong set of rules he establishes for himself, and feels abnormally uncomfortable if he does become a little rebellious. For example, you shouldn't expect to find Chris in a wild, free-for-all sort of party.

Although most people view Chris as being a "good guy" and some go as far as to call him "adorable", (he flails his arms up and down when anyone calls him that word, whether it be jokingly or for real) he's not perfect, and still has his flaws like everybody else on the planet. He tends to be stubborn, or "tenacious" as he calls it. Although he lacks the restraint to give up on certain situations, sometimes it can be for the worst. He's also very antsy and impatient, as he doesn't quite know how to stop moving and constantly requires a good dose of change and excitement in his life. Last but certainly not least, Chris has a reputation of being "the awkward one". Although he's definitely far from the strange and peculiar crowd, there are times when his face turns red and he stutters like someone who doesn't know how to speak. This usually happens whenever he is embarrassed, shocked, completely confused. Although he's good at acting like a gentleman around ladies, he's not good at flirting, and he becomes EXTREMELY awkward and uncomfortable when a girl starts playing around with him.

In conclusion, Chris is a humble leader who's only wish is to the see the world become a better place. With a never-say-die attitude and optimism that can brighten up anyone's day, it's not uncommon for people in Teraton to say that he is incredibly inspiring.

Compared to the many heart-wrenching stories he's heard about other members of the Teraton community, Chris considers his 22-year existence to be fairly normal, as nothing extremely traumatic has occurred in his lifetime. He was born in Secaucus, New Jersey, and lived there as a small child with his parents for only a little while. It wasn't long until the Waltz family packed their bags and moved into New York City only a short distance away. Chris was lucky, as he got to live in an apartment close to the heart of the Big Apple.

As a kid, Chris was extremely insecure. Most of the children in his elementary school accused him of being "different", and choosing to be independent all the time did not help him. Needless to say, he was bullied and picked on, mostly for being a "nerd". He was afraid to make friends, and spent most of his time all by himself. Just when the young boy thought that he would be alone forever, his parents revealed to him and extraordinary secret: he was a shapeshifter.

Apparently, Chris was a natural at his powers, as he had transformed himself into a tiny little snake literally a minute after he was born. The doctor actually fainted, and so Chris's parents had to think up of some pretty exaggerated lies that day. The boy was surprised and excited, but confused. How would he develop his powers and learn to control into his different forms at will? His parents wondered the same question, and so they took him to snowy Vermont to see his aunts and uncles (also shapeshifters). They trained him, and allowed him to see his second form, a lion. They also taught him lessons on how to remain tranquil during a full moon. Filled with a new sort of power, the next time he went to school after winter break, he led the jerky kids who picked on him into an alleyway, and transformed into a lion, scaring them off. They tried to explain what happened to the principal, but of course, she didn't believe them. Because of this, Chris gained an exuberant amount of confidence, giving his parents and family pride.

From then on, Chris grew in popularity, and started to gain many friends. He participated in student council in his late elementary school years, and eventually worked up to becoming president. Growing into a humanitarian, Waltz started to gain interest in helping others, and worked on community service around the city until his parents made him move when he was fourteen. They landed in Teraton, and Chris quickly gained acceptance among the community. When he was fifteen, Chris started to gain interest in psychology due to his own research on the study. He also started to learn to appreciate writing more when he was fifteen, and began to document his research in psychology. Eventually, he graduated high school with high marks, and is now in college studying Psychology as his major, and criminal justice as his minor. He is a member of the shapeshifter pack in Teraton, and considers them to be his second family. With them, he acts a lot like a law-enforcement officer and manages to catch trouble wherever it arises. He also has a job. You can sometimes catch him working as a waiter in a small cafe by the beach called "Longshots".

{ June 21st | 6:00pm | Teraton, North Carolina }

The Summer Solstice Festival has been a staple of the Teraton community far before it became set aside for the relocation process of the supernatural community in the area. Once simply referred to as the Summer Fair, it has now come to be called by a more appropriate name. It is most greatly celebrated by the witch community of the somewhat small town, and many run stalls or have special sales for the event. Lights are strung across buildings and trees to create a magical, picturesque atmosphere. The festival is something that most look forward to, and while it is not incredibly large, it is a dear part of the community.

It serves as many things. For the witch community, it is expected that young witches, coming of age, begin to create some product, or develop some skill for a service, which they will demonstrate here. The faerie community is also known to take special joy in the event, especially the summer fae, as a matter of course given that it is a summer holiday. Many people also take it as a romantic event, and the music [different bands or DJs on various corners] as well as the lights help this concept along. It also happens to line up to be just after the schools get out, so clusters of high schoolers, middle schoolers, and elementary schoolers can often be seen in various places.

Mel had signed up to work the latest shift at Teraton's only decent night club, where she is employed as a bartender, because she's grown up going to every single Summer Solstice Festival since she could exchange a tail for legs, and doesn't intend to break that favorite tradition now. It's less of an issue with nostalgia and more a case of loving the experience of it all. The bands, the people, the shops- everything is right up her alley, as far as a festival goes. If only there were more dancing. Then again, there is dancing, depending on the band playing, or in the nightclub. She's certain to stop by there before her shift begins. Mel smells faintly of sea breeze, as she always does, and her hair is still damp from having just showered away the salt and sweat of spending the daylight hours surfing and playing basketball, two of her favorite pastimes. Luckily, it doesn't matter if her hair is wet, because the weather is warm, summer definitely taking over where spring had once reigned. She loves it.

I want to go on the ferris wheel, the selkie woman muses, craning her neck backwards slightly to look at it. Honestly, it isn't particularly large, or else it wouldn't have been able to fit in the park that is a center piece to the town, but it does look fun- perhaps a bit slow, though.

Being an ultimately social creature, the woman decides to first find other people to hang out with before doing anything else. She remains on the look out for the usual suspects: Belinda, Jae, CJ, Skye, or Derrick. Anyone will do, really, which is often the general opinion of Mel, who has very few, if any, deep bonds with her fellow townspeople- even the ones she's known since youth. I'll check out the magic shops- Jae or CJ are bound to be around, Mel decides, making her way outside the shadow of the ferris wheel. She passes by the musical stage, where a band which is slightly more folksy than she likes is playing a song that sounds almost celtic. The band is comprised of exclusively Fae.

"You haven't seen Jae or CJ around, have you?" Mel stops and asks an older looking witch, who sells medicinal herbs and healing enchantments. The response is brief and vague, completely unhelpful. In the end, she is forced to resort to texting people, despite generally preferring to just arrive places without notice. Mel isn't one for planning- or, therefore, punctuality.

To: CJ, Belinda, Jae, Derrick, Skye, Chris
Anyone else looking for company?

Mel decides that if she's going to just allow herself to happen upon people, or wait for responses, she might as well do so while listening to music. So she wanders until happening upon something more her stile- a corner with a DJ playing dance music, and several people dancing around to it, and joins in with the movement. It's her natural habitat, after all.

Jem's family is well known for their potions, and thus it is only natural that he be helping out at the family potion stand, where the Whelks are selling panaceas, liquid happiness [without the side effects of most drugs], bottled luck [selling out quickly for some of those carnival-style games], and other such things. Several of the concoctions were brewed by Jem himself, as he is quickly gaining on his parents as far as inventing new sorts of potions go, despite his lack of experience and crystallized knowledge to rival theirs. He can here bands playing in the distance, and a dimpled smile reveals itself every time a customers tops by to purchase something- especially when it is one of his own creations. Typically somewhat insecure, his potions are one thing that Jem is able to put a vote of confidence in with.

He wonders where CJ is, but supposes that the other male witch, and his closest friend since grade school, is working at the Shantley family restaurant. Jae, both a friend and someone for him to occasionally avoid, will probably be found there as well, unless she's selling her own services or wares. Jem doubts that she is, actually. Curses are the girl's specialty, after all, but they were banned from being sold, unless fitting within specific guidelines, by the city council a few years ago after a very, very nasty incident. If one thinks that bullying is bad in human schools, they would shudder to see how far it can go in a school composed of adolescents with supernatural abilities and still forming senses of reasoning and restraint.

"You can go and look for your friends now, Jem. We're all set here," Mathilde, Jem's mother and the person he inherited his distinctive dimples and blonde curls from, tells him with a smile. Her voice is somewhat soft, but holds a certain power to it that leaves no room for doubt that she is incredibly competent in what she does. She is a well-respected woman in the town for a reason, after all.

"Thanks mum," Jem responds with a dimpled smile. "I think I'll go see if CJ's at the restaurant."

He takes off the apron-esque cloth he had been wearing [to avoid spilling potions on himself], and places it down on a chair neatly folded before heading off into the crowd. He walks quickly, not liking to be alone in a large group of people like this for too long. It makes him feel impossibly lost and miniscule, despite being slightly above average in height, and knowing the layout of the town like the back of his hand.

The walk to the Shantley family restaurant is brief. Jem pops his head in and sees Alexander, CJ's brother, walking by. "Is CJ around?"

As he sped through the world on an old and beat-up Vans skateboard that used to belong to his friend in New York, Christopher Waltz realized just how small the town of Teraton really was. He had discovered nearly every corner and crevice of the tiny South Carolina community, but the young man never actually took the time to slow down and really appreciate his surroundings. With a perfect sunset sinking downwards from the center of the sky, and the twinkling lights of the Summer Solstice fair shining in the distance, now was the perfect time to do so. There were so many things on Chris's mind, and this simple moment was a sort of meditation for him.

Once he approached the hustle and bustle of the fair, Chris kicked the skateboard up, instinctively grabbing it behind him, and locking it underneath his arm. He took a moment to look at his surroundings, and then entered the festivity. He was greeted by the many vibrant colors and other-worldy scents of the Magical Lane. Of course, Chris was never really one to buy things, but with so much movement, brightness, mystery...one couldn't help but dart their eyes from booth to booth. Chris didn't believe he had too many good friends from the race of witches, (besides Jae and Jem, of course...) but by all means, he was fascinated by the race's culture. They had such spirituality and significant traditions that couldn't help but intrigue him. He took a moment to stare at the glass crystal balls that his neighbor was selling, and waved to Mrs. Johnson as he passed by (she was a master at divination, but was somewhat blind towards modern culture, as she still wore frumpy dresses that smelled like mothballs from the Victorian era). He then passed by a stand run by a tall, robust man with many rune-symbol tattoos running down his biceps. He was a woodcarver for sure, and had many small pieces lined up for sale. From a small card that was taped to the stand's table, some of the items were supposed to bring good luck. The charmed articles, as the sign said, were adorned with small green tags. "See anything you like?" the man asked. Chris's eyes gazed firmly at a long, black bear pendant with a rune sign on the top of the creature's forehead. Like the card had stated, a light green tag was attached to the necklace's chain. "Actually, yeah, I do," the young man replied. "How much for that?"

Tucking a small bag containing the bear pendant in his sweatshirt pocket, Chris hurried past the musical stage that featured a lighthearted band playing nature-like folk music. The charmed pendant wasn't for himself, but for someone else who was a shapeshifter, and happened to have a Kodiak bear as one of her two animal forms. Her name was Theodora Osonia, and she was stunning. Well, at least in Chris's eyes she was. There were always rumors going around about the girl's true motives, but Chris refused to believe any of the gossip that Theo's personality disproved. She was beautiful and intelligent, and could be fierce while also having a joking nature, something that he had never seen before in a person. To put it simply, Chris had an enormous crush on her, and all of his friends knew it. Some of them even picked on him for it, but over time, he learned to accept the jokes and the teasing. There was only one true problem regarding his fancying of Theodora Osonia: he could never tell her he liked her. He had no trouble striding into danger without even a second thought of consequences, but there was absolutely no way that he could bulk up enough courage to tell the young woman anything he felt. He knew he was just too graceless...

Chris was brought back to earth from his thoughts when he believed he caught the sight of Mel Williams's poofy blonde hair bouncing in front of him. Not quite sure it was her, he watched the girl frolic confidently to an energetic spot that sported a DJ and a multitude of dancers.
Suddenly, he could feel his phone vibrating in his pocket.

To: Chris
From: Mel
Anyone else looking for company?

He looked back at the girl again for a brief second, catching her facial features, and chuckled. Indeed, it was Mel. Of course she'd be dancing like a damn lunatic even at the Summer festival when she worked at a night club, for Pete's sake. It was just in her instinct to do so. The dance floor was her habitat, as he knew she would proudly say. He composed a new message, clicked the send button, and started to approach her.

To: Mel
From: Chris
Turn around

He lightly smiled, his hands in his pockets, and tried not to bump into any crazy dancers as he got closer to Mel. He hoped he wouldn't frighten her while she was having fun or anything.
"Hey!" he exclaimed loudly in the midst of the roaring music. It was kind of strange, as his body was stiff and straight while everyone else's was moving to the loud beat. "How are you? What's up?"

Theo took her sweet ol' time strolling down the sidewalk on her way to the Summer Solstice Festival. She had not gotten too dressed up for the occasion with her hair pulled into a messy braid on her right side and she was glad that most other people had decided to dress casually as well. Normally, Theo would not have cared; however, she remembered the first year that she had been in Teraton she had worn a nice dress and heels, not realizing that it was more of a street fair than anything. After that first, awkward year, the Summer Fair had quickly become one of Theo's most anticipated events in the small, normally uneventful town. It was a chance to let lose -not that she didn't do that normally- and also a chance to watch the new witches demonstrate their products and skills -which was actually one of Theo's favorite things about the fair. However, most importantly the festival symbolized summer -Theo's favorite season- which meant hot weather and everything outdoors.

As Theo drew nearer to the festival lights, she offhandedly wondered whether Chris would be there. Since first meeting the caring, lovably awkward young man, Chris Waltz had quickly become one of Theo's favorite people and most trusted friends. It wasn't just that the two of them were both shapeshifters. There was something else about Chris that made Theo love being around the young man and she could never put her finger on it. She knew that he had a small crush on her, but he had never admitted -and she knew that he knew never would admit- it to her. Rather, he'd give her gifts on special occasions and compliment her offhandedly. As she thought about Chris, Theo suddenly felt conscious of her appearance -which absolutely never happened. 'I should've worn something better looking,' she thought and then mentally shook herself from the thought. 'What am I thinking?' Theo had never truly cared about what someone thought of her looks -unless it was when she was pulling a con on someone and she certainly would never think to con Chris. He was one of the few people that Theo completely trusted and one of even fewer people that she had ever considered telling her history to. Her backstory was a part of her that was kept secret to virtually everyone and she had always planned on keeping it that way. 'But what would he think of me if I told him I was a dirty con-woman?' Theo though bitterly to herself. Chris trusted her and he had never believed those rumors that she was a thief. What would he think if he heard directly from her that those rumors were true? 'That's not me anymore,' Theo told herself sternly. She had gotten her kleptomania under control and she no longer needed to steal to stay afloat. And Chris would understand if she told him the whole story. Right?

Theo was jolted out of her thoughts as her left arm collided with a tall, brunette woman who looked back at her with a sneer. Theo put on her normal, playful grin as she turned and called an apology to the woman who had already seemed to forget about her. The five-foot tall shapeshifter pushed the uncharacteristically serious thoughts out of her mind as she shoved her way through a crowd of people that had gathered at one of the booths. She did not stop to see what it was, not feeling bothered to be in the middle of a large crowd.

Coming out of the crowd, Theo found herself in a less dense part of the festival. Dance music was playing loudly and a group of people where bouncing around to the beat, but the crowd was more dispersed, each person giving the one next to them some room to dance around. Theo gave a quick look around at the people that were caught a glimpse of a dancing blonde woman and an awkwardly stiff man. Getting a better view of their faces, Theo saw that it was Mel and Chris standing only a few feet away from her. Theo smiled at the sight of her "rival" and the guy that she had been thinking about just moments before. Getting into the music, Theo chuckled as she began to dance along with the group. She made her way slowly to the two that she had seen previously. She was jostled a bit by a young male witch would was already too drunk for his own good, but Theo pushed him off and continued toward the others.

As she finally came up behind Mel and Chris, Theo laughed and spoke directly the Mel first. "My 90-year-old neighbor's got better moves than that," Theo said with a chuckle and a mischievous glint in her eyes. "And she's had both her knees replaced." Anyone who knew anything about the relationship between Mel and Theo would have known that they considered themselves rivals. Not in the sense that they actually hated each other, but in the sense that they would constantly push each other and compete with one another. However, Theo loved their competition and, in truth, she considered herself to be friends with Mel. The friendly rivalry was good for the both of them.

Theo then looked over at Chris and gave him a wide smile. And although no one would notice, her smile was just a bit wider for him than it would be for the others. "Chris," she said with a chuckle before continuing. "Ya know, I never picked you as one to dance much," she said in a teasing manner as she nudged his shoulder. Somehow though, she couldn't help but think back to what she had thought on the way over here. Would he look at her the same way if she were to tell him about her unlawful excursions? Theo was once again forced to push away the thoughts as she continued to dance to the music. She was never one to act in a serious manner -even at times when she should- and she was not going to start on one of her favorite nights of the year in this town.

After his brief encounter with Alexander, who soon leaves, presumably to go walk around with the girl who had been staring through the window when Jem walked in, the dimpled boy does find the person he's looking for. Hopefully the Shantley parents are planning to let their primary workers take the night off. It would surprise Jem if they didn't- it's not like they've kept the siblings locked in working for the past several festivals. As far as families go, CJ has a really good one, Jem thinks. They all seem to get along very well, at least. Not that Jem would ever complain of his family- they stick together, even if his mother and father have the tendency to argue quite a bit. It's a good thing neither of them are the sort to put aggressive words into action- especially with his parents' potions, which would be too perfect for bits of revenge or irritation and such.

CJ promises to be done soon, which merits another smile from Jem- not that his smiles are really a rare commodity to come by. Both of the friends, best friends since childhood, are known to be the sort who smile quite a lot. After all, they share a sort of sociable cheerfulness, as well as the fact that it kind of brushes aside any other issues the two may have. In Jem's case, people tend to forget how bad his sulking can be, or how emotionally sensitive he is [almost child-like], when faced only with a boyish smile and a joke. That's the way he likes it, of course. He's too dependent on the presence of others to allow them to slip away so easily.

As his brunette friend returns, this time for them to set off and enjoy the festival, Jem finds himself smiling once more. "So, where to first? Games? Music? Meet up with people?" he asks, never having had qualms with letting other people make decisions for him, especially ones so trivial. Besides, he doesn't know how long CJ's parents will let one of their few waiters go for- or how busy the restaurant usually gets during the festival, now that he thinks about it. He's never hung around the place during the Summer Solstice.

"Maybe we could find Skye?" he adds, mentioning their mutual friend [though he perhaps sees the spring faerie as more than a friend].

Mel owns a phone. She knows how to use her phone. She even goes sofar as to use it fairly frequently. That being said, she is one of those people who will send a text, put her phone down, and not look at it again for an hour, leaving the other person mildly confused. At the moment, she can argue the excuse that the music and dancing and cute guy dancing diagonally from her served to redirect her attention. Whatever the argument, the young woman doesn't notice the response texts that float in, focused on dancing and the music and the fact that the weather is impossibly perfect at that moment. It's her ideal summer day, really- perfect weather, perfect waves, perfect shots, and good music.

And, she soon finds out, good friends. It's fortunate that Chris actually physically approached her, because she hadn't noticed his text, just as she hadn't most of the other messages. Hearing his voice, she turns around to face the shapeshifter, whose hands-in-pocket, make-self-smaller stance looks impossibly awkward among the pulsing semi-crowd. She grins at him, her wide and easy smile as distinctive to her as Jem's dimpled one is to him. "Hey! My mood, man- on a roller coaster that only goes up, my friend," she adds with a twist of her smile that gives it a funny looking quirk towards one side. As her speech patterns often suggest, Mel is a rather relaxed, non serious person. "Speaking of moods, here comes your lady love," she refers to his less than subtle crush on Theo Osonia, the girl hair that Mel has often compared to a supernova. To Mel's credit, she drops her voice slightly, out of courtesy for Chris's anxiousness.

Mel raises her eyebrows at Theo, smile quirking once more, "I took lessons from her." She looks over Theo once, then beams. "Nice to see you aren't wearing heels this year."

Finally, her attentions are located in such a way that she feels a text coming in. Leaning in towards Chris, she whispers [as quiety as she can to still be heard, "I'm gonna ditch this crowd. But first, I'll leave you and lady nova over there to the privacy of the mob." With a wink and shoulder nudge, she is out of sight, weaving through the crowd until she reaches clearer lands, where she can check her phone and wait for Chris and Theo to join her, if they choose to. This is just like Mel- bring people into her own habitat, only to leave them there to fend for themselves.

To: Jae
Oh, love, I'm blushing. I trust you'll wait for me. For a few minutes. Or an hour. I'll get there eventually

To: Belinda
I'll be looking for that top- and maybe the face. :-)

To: Skye
Maybe near the Ferris wheel. Stay tuned.

To: Chris
Wow, long time no see. Having fun in the crowd? Knowing you, I'm surprised you aren't crowd surfing yet!

To: CJ
The hardest! If you're nice, I'll give you cheaper drinks during my shift.

Before she gets any responses via text, Mel is attacked, in the friendliest of ways, by her fellow selkie, Belinda Santiago. Belinda is the sort of person who people either adore or hate, and most tend to lean towards the former, from what Mel's seen. The girl's easy smile, paired with eyes that look like a puppy's, is completely contagious. Not that it takes much to get Mel smiling, of course, but she is now, after returning her friend's surprise-attack hug with a squeeze and a grin, "Hey there, chickadee. Well, the wait is over, isn't it? Which means it is about time to have some fun, eh?" Belinda's enthusiasm would've made the platinum blonde smile, had she not already been beaming in general.

It is hardly a surprise to see Derrick trailing behind Belinda. The two always seem incredibly close, especially when Belinda is between relationships, which she often seems to be. The two share a hug as well, though much briefer than Mel's hug with Belinda. While friends, they aren't quite as close as the two selkie are with each other. "Oh, you know, assembling. Chris is smashed in the crowd with Theo," she adds with a knowing smile. It's hardly a secret that Chris has a massive crush on the fellow shapeshifter. Even he seems to know that everybody knows it.

"Jae's somewhere near the ferris wheel, last I've heard, and I think Skye should be wandering around somewhere. CJ's probably with Jem? Might meet up with him eventually," she lists off the people that she's contacted to hang out with, save for the two who are standing right in front of her. A clenching in her stomach tells Mel that right now would be an excellent time to grab a snack. She relates this suggestion to the duo before her.

"We can head over through the game section. I'm sure Chris won't mind us leaving him behind with Theo," she suggests. Her phone then buzzes in the back pocket of her shorts, so she gives an apologetic smile, not really different from her normal smile, and takes it out.

To: CJ
8-1am

To: Jae
Caught? Been steppin on toes again?

To: Skye
Awesome. Keep up the good work.

Jem returns CJ's smile with one of his own at the suggestion that they do them all. He's perfectly okay with that- experiencing every bit of the festival. Last year he hadn't attended, having fallen into one of his moods after a bad break up, and he is thus determined for the day lost. Besides, it would certainly help to erase the memories of last year as much as possible- as with the ending of all relationships, romantic or platonic, it had been a huge hit to the ever-sensitive witch boy. He follows after CJ, falling into step right beside his childhood friend. The question gives him a momentary pause, thought-wise. He doesn't actually know where she is and has, not being much of a phone guy, left his cellphone back at home. Guesses will just have to do.

"Well, she's probably around, I guess? Let's just walk around, and see if we happen upon her," He suggests, a compromise in order to free more time to hang out with CJ. His friend has not been the only one to note that they don't hang out as much as they used to. This is the sort of thing that Jem tends to be very quick to notice, even if it is trivial.

CJ is as bouncy as usual, so Jem doesn't really notice his hyperactivity acting up more than usual. Sure, he sees that CJ's eyes are flitting around quite a bit, but that's just CJ, usually. Still, he worries for a moment, wondering if something has happened or if he's had some sort of medication issue. They first bonded because CJ hadn't taken his meds, and Jem had helped to calm him down. Both boys have their own little problems, as far as processing and brain activity goes, even if CJ is the only one of the two who is medicated for it.

"Want to go play a game or something?" Jem suggests, thinking that it would be a good way to help funnel his friend's general nervous energy. Besides, they are reaching the area that has a long line of carnival style games, and it looks like fun. Jem wouldn't mind trying his hand at one of the games, to see if he can maybe win one of the prizes.

After enjoying the festival, some danced all night, some went home [alone or with another], etc. A few witches stayed behind to make quick work of clean help, though they did receive help from some volunteers. Now, it is afternoon of the next day, 12pm. As it is summertime, few people have classes, unless they are taking summer courses of course, but some do have jobs, appointments, etc. Some are dealing with hangovers, headaches, and morning afters, while for others it is simply just another morning to wake up to. All of this depends, of course, on the individual character.

Common Places to Find People At This Time:
The Beach [Surfing, Tanning, Swimming, Beach Volleyball]
Downtown [Shops, Cafes, The Public Library]
The Park [Picnics, Frisbee, etc.]
