Memory:
So, so hungry... he wanted to eat so bad but he needed that bread to get back home. He would find a fortune one day and never go hungry and cold again. He swore it!
That... that bird dared take away his mean to get back? He'll show that vulture what happened when you messed with him. But... AH! No! Too much noise, too many feathers! They came upon him, never handing and cawing in victory... What... What was that!? She came for him. He would stay near her and keep away from feathery things from now on.
Opinion on the War:
Witches are bad news, it doesn't matter if they say they are good or even fairy godmothers, they are still witches. I'll kill them all, and make a fortune out of it. I... I just need to concentrate on my task and not on the pretty ones' beauty...
As for the queens, well, I don't care much about them, they seems a little too much in love with their husbands to be of use to me. Maybe, one day, their sons or daughters will be more amiable?

Personality:
Sly and charming, the young man known as Hansel is quite selfish when it comes to anyone but his sister, the two having been close since the whole debacle with the house of sweets. Ruthless to get what he wants, he is however a hardworking and dauntless man, capable of chasing after something for years on hand, never stopping until the thing he wants is within his reach or his enemy utterly annihilated.
At times utterly charming and other times utterly offensive, he has a near second personality when it comes to friends and potential allies and foes. A skilled conversationalist, he is not much made for war, as both his strategies and hand-eye coordination let to be desired. A dedicated brother and fickle lover all in one package, the only one he would ever stay true and platonic for would be Gretel as, blood is nothing but the bond of siblings forged in adversity is everything, isn't?
Patient and moderate in business and fiery and ambitious in personal matters, Hansel always had an eye for the grandiose and the extravagant, preferring silk, leather and fur dyed in a bright color to the more functional and drab wool and cotton. That is not to say he doesn't understand temperance and discretion, but merely that he couldn't care less about what anyone but both he and his twin would say on the matter.
Not one for quiet and even less of the nurturing type, he hates the clingy types as well as helpless children, having been forced to grow up fast far sooner than he should have been.

History:
Born but two minutes after his elder twin Gretel, Hansel has always been the one to follow ever since, proving a loyal and able companion and foil to his more martially oriented sister. A dutiful and naive child before he was betrayed by his parents, the young boy soaked affection and praise like a sponge in the rare moments that his selfish and bitter mother deigned to show anything but contempt for him.
That all changed when he and Gretel were abandoned, the young boy, on the verge of adolescence, transforming into a hardened boy full of selfish thoughts and bitter desires, the only thing keeping him grounded from a life of revenge and bitterness being his sister and his own ambition to become more than his fickle mother. And so he still followed, and he planned, using his hidden cleverness and sense of manipulation against the witch that dared think of the siblings as a future meal and planned his return to the two children's home by taking their last loaf of bread and making a trail back as they walked home.
The second lesson, in the midst of despair and rage, was to always have another plan, and as he noticed his trail gone into the belly of a cawing crow, the boy once more planned and found another way back; finding a map in the slain and burned witch and using it as a way to keep track of the various strange roots and rocks paving the forest, after a long week finally finding his way back with his dear sister.
Hansel never spoke of what happened in this dark forest, but it changed him, some say for the better, but many more for worse as he took the wealth of the witch to make an estate for the two siblings and started a profitable but licentious lifestyle of seduction, information gathering and finally a quite lucrative but illegal smuggling ring.

Other:
- Hansel is a messy writer. If it got blotches and smears on it, it's hansel who wrote it, not Gretel.
- The more laid back of the siblings, Hansel can be frequently missing to do some shenanigans on his own.
- Hansel snacks all day long, there is no time when he doesn't have anything to eat nearby.
