Likes: Nature, fighting, books, wine, soft music, hunting, and silence.

Dislikes: Loud places, thievery, taverns, egotism, drunkard behaviour, and sternness.

Strengths:
Duellist – Prince Adam is a deadly combatant in light armour and the arts of precision and dexterity, being trained in the castle as a boy by the most elite of Duellists. His specialisation in the rogue class remains to be a disappointment to his father, former king, veteran warrior, and Champion of his time. Adam favours the bow and dual blade to be his best in weaponry.

Paragon – Contrary to popular belief, Prince Adam's proud, haughty exterior is a façade to his true qualities. Although he lacks self-conciousness and possess a slight disregard in the feelings of others, Prince Adam embodies an honest and genuine disposition.

Charm – Prince Adam’s royal blood takes to an advantage when he is needed to charm, persuade, or flatter someone. He is able to string together striking conversation, which people go along with, for the most part.

Weaknesses:
Independence – Being castle born and bred, Adam is used to the royal routine of having servants, maids, and everything ready and done for him. His skills and knowledge in survival are very, very poor.

Outspoken – Prince Adam's blunt and directness has gotten him into trouble one too many times. However, this does coincide with his honest nature.

Insensitive – The lines between honesty, humour and one's feelings are disregarded in Prince Adam's temperament. At worst times, he does not see a limit to his actions.

Fears:
Since the explosion, Adam fears the night, particularly in time for sleep. He also fears assassins, and the thought of being watched or followed.

Memory:
“I… I-I remember a girl. I can’t quite recall her face, or her name. But I feel an overwhelming responsibility for her. No, no that’s not the word – desire. I won’t overstep and talk of love and the moon and all that rubbish… But I know that I must find her. I fear the worst will come for us both if I do not. That’s all I know, right now. Well, that, and a change in my gut as well as a searing pain in my skull.” – Prince Adam

Opinion on the War:
“I don't know where the Queen is headed with all this, but the bloodshed and brawls have been rather exciting, don't you agree?” – Prince Adam

The Prince's knowledge of the War is very limited. He does know of the basics, but so far all Prince Adam sees in the entire subject is not the problematic issues, but the thrill of battle.

Personality:
Prince Adam is known to be pessimistic, cynical, quick-tempered and spoiled. He is very fond of dark humour and has a knack for being inopportunely direct with his opinions, and almost always has something to say. If not, Prince Adam’s common response to most things would be a simple shrug, scoff, or sarcastic remark.

Despite his many faults, what lies underneath his conceited, proud exterior is an unperceived sincerity and lack of self-consciousness. Prince Adam does not doubt his value, beliefs, or character. He often speaks the truth as he sees it, and will not be swayed by feelings or cowardice. Despite the turns of this unfortunate trait, what Prince Adam says is more than often, true. Prince Adam believes himself to be a man of complete integrity, however vain he may phrase it.

He is fond of hunting, an activity he has been taken to since he was a child, shortly after discovering his talents in archery. Prince Adam’s attraction for nature and the wilderness is born from hours to days at end trapped in the castle. Despite his charisma, he had never been known to have many friends - only strangers who attend balls in his castle, and the servants of his home. However, this does not fail Prince Adam in social situations.

History:
Most of Prince Adam’s history remains a mystery, even to the Prince himself. What can be recollected is that he lived in a luxurious palace, where he had everything and anything he wanted, for he was terribly selfish as he was rich. As a single child, his father and mother loved and devoted their lives to his very success. Prince Adam was truly his father’s most prized possession. However, when it was revealed that Prince Adam’s gifts were found in the arts of archery and deftness, his father quickly grew cold and detached, as he had desired a more warrior-like class for his son to take after his own. In response to his father’s new perception of him, Prince Adam became aloof. He grew lazy, irresponsible, spoilt even more. He also manifested in untasteful activities, regarding wine, women… and men. Many years passed, to which Prince Adam's mother had succumbed to a sickness fed by her husband and son's everlasting feud. She passed away, the night before Prince Adam's 17th name day (birthday). From that night on, he began to develop a disregard for his father’s taunting as well as a great indifference for the opinion of strangers, and whatever light people might have branded him in.
---
Prince Adam became renowned for his most famous tale that occurred one Christmas Eve, when his kindness was tested by a beggar woman who came to the castle to ask for shelter from the blizzard, in return for a single, red rose. When Prince Adam shunned the beggar woman for her horrendous appearance, her true form was then revealed. She was a beautiful Enchantress. Upon seeing her beauty and realising her power, Prince Adam quickly offered his sympathies, but was then transformed into a hideous beast for his pride and conceit. A curse was also cast upon the castle. The Enchantress had turned what was once a beautiful palace into a crumbling, dark, foreboding place, where lush green grass was found by wolves and other creatures that came in the night.

Ashamed of his new appearance, the Prince locked himself inside the castle, secluding himself from the outside world. Time had passed, and a merchant had happened upon the crumbling castle one night. Seeing that the master of the castle was nowhere to be found, the merchant spent the night there. The following morning, just when he was about to take his leave, the merchant discovered a most beautiful, lush rose garden, recalling him of his promise to his youngest daughter – the gift of a red rose. Upon picking the loveliest of the batch the merchant was confronted by a terrifying “Beast”, to which it demanded satisfaction from the merchant for stealing his possession. Eventually, they had come to a deal, whereby the Beast spared his life in return for his daughter, Belle. Long story short – Once Belle had returned her love for him, as only by finding true love despite his ugliness, could the curse be lifted from the Beast and the castle. Prince Adam and Belle married in summer.

Since the explosion, Prince Adam now finds himself in the woods, miles away from the castle, and Belle.

Once Upon a Time...
It is the morning after the potion explosion. Midsummer, plants and other forms of vegetation are blossoming while the sun shines brightly in the pale-blue sky. However, not all places are beaming brilliantly with sunshine...

There were the individual sounds of peaceful birds chirping, as well as the vibrant colors of green and deep brown popping into view as Alice opened her eyelids. She was somewhere in a forest, no doubt. A very quiet, dark, foggy forest. Somehow, this didn’t surprise her. Didn’t almost all stories start in the woods? From all the myths, tales and legends she had remembered, everything happened in the forest. Princesses were rescued, dragons were slayed, and magical creatures lurked around every corner. However, Alice wasn’t a princess, or a dragon, or a creature, or a king, or a jester or an animal. She was…merely…someone. Wait, who was she? She dug through the crevices of her mind until she could find a recent memory, but she found nothing. She could not remember her childhood, her friends…not even her parents. Just her name. Why just her name?

Was she mad? Was she dreaming? Frustrated, Alice picked herself up off of the moist bed of pine needles and leaves, and paced back and forth. What was she doing here, alone in the woods? She kept asking questions, but all the answers led back to the same thing: Why couldn’t she remember anything? Perhaps this was all a dream. She needed to wake up. She couldn’t stand any more of this terrifying nightmare. Alice took a few steps back, and then with all her might, she charged towards the direction of the tree in front of her. Instead of opening her eyes again on a bed or wherever she slept in reality, the lean girl’s body hit hard against the bark of the tree. There was sharp, immediate pain that placed itself right outside of her forehead. Alice fell to the ground, paralyzed by shock and stiffness. So maybe she wasn’t dreaming after all…

As she rubbed the palm of her right hand against her forehead to take away the pain, Alice’s curiosity sparked like a small flame. There were three things she knew for sure: her name was Alice, she was NOT dreaming, and she was in a forest. This left for the possibility that her REAL self from the REAL world might have died, and had moved on to some sort of afterlife. However, she knew better than to jump to that conclusion instantaneously. There had to have been a reason why she remembered some stories told to her when she was younger. But had she had ever been younger? With the flood of questions and her forehead still throbbing, Alice was giving herself a headache. Exhausted, she sat on the ground, her one leg crossed over the other. It was then that she got a good look at her outfit. She was wearing a blue knee-length dress, gold-colored boots, and there was something behind her back. She reached her hand backwards to draw forward a softly knitted purple knapsack. She placed it beside her, noticing a shiny bronze sword strapped to her waist by a leather belt. Good; at least wherever she was, she’d be able to defend herself from any danger.

She pulled open her drawstring knapsack, finding a plethora of random items inside. She was particularly hungry at the time, and although she couldn’t find any food, she did spot something else that caught her attention: a tiny navy-colored notebook. The front cover was made of a scaly-leather material, and the words “Alice’s Journal and Field Guide” were plastered in bright-red paint across the center. She opened up the tiny book, discovering a large amount of words and phrases she didn’t understand. There were things like “Wonderland” and “Unbirthday”, and names, such as the “Queen of Hearts”, the “Mad Hatter”, and the “March Hare”. There was something, however, that caught her eye amongst the midst of confusing terms. The page was entitled “The Magic Mirror”, and an oval with a regal face in the center had been etched onto the papyrus-like paper. On the bottom of the page, there was a description of the artifact. Apparently, in her past life, (whatever she was doing in her past life) Alice had failed to find this mirror of extraordinarily enchanted powers. Since this new Alice had absolutely no plans, as she had forgotten all of them, she made it her first priority to find this mirror, as it enticed her to a substantial degree.

It was then after she had slammed the notebook shut that Alice gave a blood-curdling scream.

In front of her was a ferocious-looking wolf baring its sharply-pointed teeth. Its face was contorted into the most frightening of positions. Its surprise entrance made the beast all the more terrifying. Needless to say, Alice threw her notebook up into the air as she jumped in fear, and backed into the tree nearest her. She was cornered as more gray-colored wolves approached. No doubt, they were as hungry as she. Quickly, she pulled the sword from off of her belt, and pointed it at the three beasts, her hands, feet, and lips trembling. For a second, they actually backed away. However, that small moment didn’t last long enough. The center wolf lunged towards Alice, its eyes turning a frightening shade of yellow. In a moment she could have only described as “instinctive”, Alice dodged the attack, shifted towards her right, and swiped across from her. She struck at the wolf’s neck, making the beast utter a petrifying cry of pain before it was swiftly decapitated. In the teenage girl’s mind, time seemed to stop. She had performed the motion so cleanly and flawlessly, as if she had done it a million times before. Did she actually know how to swordfight? How? Perhaps in her past life, she was an accomplished swordswoman. Maybe she was a bandit, or a knight….

Whatever she was, she’d have to channel her inner instincts again, as more wolves surrounded her in seconds. Another one lunged forwards towards her neck. In response, Alice raised her sword, wedging the blade between the beast’s fangs and stabbing the tip of the weapon into the wolf’s upper mouth. Then another approached her. With her knee, she kicked the creature in the jaw, and then sent the blade through the beast’s chest. And then there was another, and another, and another...

No question, Alice would have to retreat. There were way too many. She ran as fast as her lean feet could take her, swooping down to pick up her notebook, and then jumping high onto the branch of a nearby tree. Like a squirrel being chased by a dog, she climbed the tree quickly, all the while maintaining caution. She gasped as a wolf had almost wrapped its fangs around her leg. Eventually, she had climbed up high enough into the safety of the tree. The wolves wouldn’t be able to pursue her now. However, that didn’t stop them from trying. They were still barking, still trying to find a way to scale the tree and gobble up the golden-haired girl. Alice sighed. Although she knew she’d be fine, she also knew that it would probably be a long time until these wolves would give up trying to kill her. For a second, she thought about living in the tree for the rest of her life, but that idea quickly faded once her empty stomach started to growl loudly.

Either by wolves or by hunger, she had a feeling it wouldn’t be long until she was dead. She stared off into the depths of the forest. Maybe there was someone nearby who could help her somehow. Then again, maybe not, and she’d just have to formulate her own plan. She swallowed a deep breath of air, and then shouted “HELP!”into the foggy patch of sky surrounding her. Judging by the equipment she had, Alice had a feeling that whatever she had been before, she had never been a princess. With the little beauty she assumed she had, there’d be no prince willing to come and rescue her from this deadly situation. It would be just like suicide…

Prince Adam

A low growl escaped from Prince Adam’s lips. He kneeled before a great tree from where he had woken in the middle of the day, pressing onto his sides and clenching his jaw shut tight. Finally, Adam could not withhold himself any longer. Shrill, anguished cries tore from his throat as he pulled his arms away from his trembling body. He squeezed his eyes together and carefully brought his scorching hands before him. “Please, please, please,” his lip quivered. Adam drew a quick breath and slowly peeled his eyes open. To his horror, Prince Adam shrieked and stumbled to his side, crushing the bed of crusted leaves as he slumped on the bed of the forest. His white ruffled shirt was covered in dirt and even more scratched and torn than it was before.

But how could this be?!

Prince Adam winced at the state of his hands. They were stained in crimson, and curved, black claws like the talon of a hawk’s were found where his fingertips had once been. He gazed at his hands and began to stretch his fingers. The light of the sun had caught the sharp tip of a claw; Adam blinked away and sighed heavily. If he was to soon find his way out of the forest and into society, how was he to conceal this? He had with him nothing but the clothes on his back. Even if he had gloves, the claws would surely pierce into the fabric. Prince Adam rose from the dirt and strutted off. He wondered aimlessly in the forest, stopping and smiling for brief moments to admire the splendour and natural sights of the wilderness. It was as if he never really saw this kind of area in his life. That was when it occurred to him.

What was he doing in a place like this? Prince Adam perused his mind as he walked, flipping through moments and memories locked inside his bewildered head. But that was just it – he did not know anything beyond his own name, something of a Queen White – Or was it Snow? Adam shook his head, and swiped his hand in the air as if to hush someone as he ducked under a branch and skipped over stones in the most harmonized manner. His mind was busied with too many ponderings to pay attention to where he was walking. Adam had wondered so far that he was unaware that he had just walked into a dangerous scene. He started at an unfamiliar voice, and frantically looked around for the source. “HELP!

He propelled into the forest and slashed through bushes and low branches. As he ran, Adam felt two sharp pains above his temples grow. He groaned at the sudden pain, but was too keen on finding the source of the voice to stop. It was the only voice he had heard other than his own, and what a strange day it had been. Perhaps this person could help him. Adam dreaded the thought of spending a night alone in the woods. As he thundered deep into the forest, he heard another voice call out after the second. Prince Adam grinned and pushed his legs further. Help, at last! But there were no people when he arrived at the source. No one he could see. It was as if a cloud had come over the sun, Prince Adam’s spirits were shaken once he sighted a small pack of wolves ready to meet him. Adam threw his arms over his head in exasperation and quickly pulled them away. He paused, and clutched each clawed hand onto the stiff, curved things that had seemed to have sprouted above his temples.

H-h-horns?!

The sound of water dripping began to sound louder and louder as her focus slowly returned. Groaning, Ariel slowly sat up- both hands on her head as she desperately tried to stop the pounding inside her skull. "Pssst." Ariel glanced up. "H-hello?" "Shhh! Not too loud, or they'll hear you." The voice was of an elderly woman, as though she had been smoking for years. "Sorry... w-who's they?" "Funny joke, deary." "... joke?" "Shh. They'll hear you. Is today the day?"

Ariel bit her lip and looked around her tiny, dark cell. Water dripped from above her, but that was fine by her. Water never bothered her, nor did the chill in the air. Slowly, Ariel stood- finding that she had legs. Why was that important? What was so special about her having legs? She decided against asking the elderly woman if she knew why she suddenly had legs, or why she thought it was weird to have them. For some reason her gut told her not to talk to the other woman. She's not like you, a voice in the back of her mind whispered with caution. What does that even mean?

Ariel walked over to the tiny window of her cell, peeking down the hallway. To her horror, the corridor was lined with doors that looked similar to hers. Some had faces peeking out, some had hands or paws, some were lit, and others were cast in darkness. Ariel felt her stomach start to twist. This wasn't good. Now that she was awake, she could hear the whispers of other prisoners, each talking across the bars of their room to the next door. Ariel turned back to her cell and looked around again. It wasn't much. Leaking ceiling, a stone slab, and a hole in the ground for Poseidon-knows-what.

"Psst." Ariel looked back to her door, unsure if she wanted to talk to anyone anymore. She was scared. Why couldn't she remember anything? Biting her lip, Ariel walked over to her slab and sat down, letting out a sob. How had this happened? Taking a shaking breath, Ariel looked to her leaking ceiling and cupped her hands- allowing the water to pool in her palms. What had happened? What could she remember? I remember a storm.. like none I had ever seen.. And a yell.. I.. I had to help. I remember a man. He fell into the water. I.. I think I saved him.. I can't remember his face. All I can remember is a small boat and a castle in the distance.. Flags... Green and Blue... and a name.. Someone was looking for him... Eric.

She wrapped her arms around her knees, hugging herself and mentally hugging onto his name. Eric. To her despair no image of him came to mind. Who was he? What did he look like? What did he sound like? Was he kind? Did she even know him at all, or was he simply a memory? Her head hurt. With every fact she tried to remember it seemed to throb a little harder.
”Pssst. Hey. Mermaid. I thought we had a deal?” The woman’s voice sounded anxious now. Ariel stood and crossed over to the window, brushing away her tears as she went. She’d have to pull herself together. What had the woman called her? ”What did you call me?” ”Do we have a deal or don’t we?” Ariel frowned, shifting to try and see out of her cell to where the voice was coming from. ”What deal?” ”Oh, you know.. the one where you take me with you when you escape. The escape you’ve been planning for a week now. You said tonight would be the night- when the moon is full. You said. YOU SAID.” “Quiet down there!”

The voice from down the hall had successfully silenced the chamber, for a moment at least. Timidly whispers began again, and the woman across the hall came to the cell bars. “Please. You must take me with you...” Ariel looked across the way but could not see the woman. ”I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about..” ”Do not TOY with me, child! Do you know who I am?! YOU PROMISED!” There was a bright light, then suddenly there were hands on her throat- but no person stood before her. Eyes wide, Ariel stumbled back against the wall of her cell, desperately trying to gasp for air as the invisible fingers left bruises on her throat. The edges of her vision were going dark as she tried to gargle a plea for help.

A commotion sounded outside of her cell. A yelp, and then more yelling. The door was burst open and a fat and balding guard stepped in, looking her over with disgust. The pressure on her throat had released seconds after the yelp, and so Ariel stood gasping for air as the tall, round man stared down at her. ”Well, aren’t you a pretty little thing…” Ariel’s eyes grew wide as he took a thunderous step toward her. Another step. Her heart was racing, what was he going to do? Eat her? Oh, GODS! He’s going to eat me! Panicked, Ariel threw her arm out- shocked at what came next.

The water from the floor and walls made a leap from their positions and wrapped around the massive man, gagging him and acting as liquid chains. She didn’t stay to see how long it would last- she ran. At first it felt more like she was tripping in a rhythm, but then she started to get the hang of it. Mermaid, that’s what the woman had called her. Perhaps… just maybe…

It wasn’t long before more guards were rushing after her. She wasn’t sure how she knew the way, she just did. Her heart beat as a hummingbird's wings in her chest. She had made it to an upper level, but she wasn’t sure which way to go. A window up ahead. CRASH. The glass sprayed in all directions, and for a moment she was suspended in the air. Then that moment ended, and she was falling- fast and uncontrollably. Of course she screamed. Luckily, she landed in a conveniently placed pile of dried kelp- no, that wasn’t it… was that word? Hay!

She couldn’t stop there, so she scrambled out of the hay and made a bolt for the tree line. Horses thundered after her, men yelled, dogs barked. Something kept driving her forward. She couldn’t let them catch her- couldn’t go back. Eric. It was as if his name were a magical spell, for as she looked ahead of her- a river had come into view. It wasn’t far, but it was deep. Water. Her heart lurched. If she could just reach it- she’d be safe.

Her legs burned, as if electric eels had wrapped themselves around her calves. Tears streaked down her face as she ran, legs screaming, heart pounding. Suddenly the earth gave way under her. She was tumbling down the embankment. ”DON’T LET HER IN THE WATER!” That was all the encouragement she needed. Yes. The water is where she wanted to be. Instead of fighting the rolling, she embraced it- aiding it in helping her reach the water faster. When she rolled to a stop, the dogs were just a few feet away from her- barking and growling darkly as they made a b-line for her. Without another thought, she dove into the white rapids of the river- never looking back.

Luckily she was in a dress. The cream colored fabric stuck to her figure as the rapids whisked her away. Dodging the large sharp rocks was an unexpected adventure, but when the river finally calmed she was safe. Ariel looked down at the green fin that swished under her and smiled. She could breathe under water. She was a mermaid. Yes, this was who she was. Eric. Her heart twisted. What was wrong with her? She slowly surfaced, looking around to see where she had landed herself. The dogs and guards were long gone- the river’s rapids were faster than she had anticipated. Part of her didn’t want to leave the water, but another part told her that she must. If she was put into the cell for being a mermaid- then if anyone saw her like this, she would be sent straight back.

Siding with logic, Ariel pulled herself from the river and thanked Poseidon when her tail melted into legs again. How long had it been doing that? More questions. No time. The red head trudged up the embankment, suddenly hearing voices. They were a little ways off, but they didn’t sound like the guards. Logic was back again, telling her that she needed to find her way to the ocean, and forget whatever these forest-beings were. Alas, though, Ariel is a curious creature and therefore- she set off to follow the sounds. "Are you alright, miss?" When she arrived on the scene, the young mermaid was perplexed. For one- she had never seen a wolf before and so she was both terrified and mystified by the four legged creatures. Her reaction to the half-man/half-beast was similar. The two females, one in a tree surrounded by dead and dying creatures, and one on the ground were more familiar. They were humans, obviously, though their expressions were extremely different. The one in the tree, for instance, appeared much calmer than the one on the ground.

The young woman looked over her shoulder to the river and then back to the scene before her. She was still soaking wet from the river and caked in mud from the knees down. She was just close enough to see what was happening, and just far enough away to go unnoticed by the group of humans and the creatures. No doubt she had the river to thank for covering her scent. The creatures looked strange to her, though she was able to identify them as some sort of dog. She had seen dogs before- but where? The memory was muddled. Ariel slipped over to one of the nearest trees and peeked out, watching the man sprout horns from his head. Perhaps he was like the blow-fish? When he became threatened he became pointy? Her curious eyes narrowed, trying to squint and see the horns better. Were they barbs, perhaps?

“H-h-horns?!” The half-beast's reaction was peculiar. Had he not grown them intentionally? Her attention was drawn back to the woman in the tree who looked as though she would be running out of arrows soon. She had to help, but how? Looking around, she scanned the ground for something to use. There was a strange shell type object laying around the tree, and to the touch it was rough and pricked her fingers when she grabbed it initially. She wouldn't know, but they were pine cones. Ariel scooped a few into her hands and inched closer to where the younger girl was. Perhaps if she could distract the wolves and make it back into the river, they would chase her and abandon the girl? "Hey!" With all the strength she had, she threw one of the cones at the nearest wolf.

Of course it missed, but her yell had caught the creature's attention. The others seemed preoccupied with the girl, but the one turned and snarled toward Ariel. She felt her throat tighten; she hadn't thought this through exactly. "Leave her alone," she snapped. Her voice sounded steadier than she had anticipated. If only she had known that her ability to talk to animals was limited to aquatic fauna; or that she had said ability at all. As the creature began to prowl in her direction Ariel began to take a slow step back. The wooden shells (pine cones) wouldn't do enough damage to scare the creatures away. Had she been of any help, or did she simply get herself caught up in another set of problems? Out of the frying pan and into the fire, so they say.

Even though it was only for a few minutes, the time Alice sat idly in the tall tree felt like forever. She stared up into the atmosphere, her brown eyes trying to make something out of the cloudy-like sky above her. There were still wild dogs barking below. Attempting to ignore them, she decided to hum something, anything. Not quite remembering any catchy melodies from her childhood, Alice improvised a simple song instead. In her opinion, it didn't seem to come out right. She was making up some sort of melancholy tune that only drowned her deeper into the sadness she had already accumulated due to the recent circumstances.

It was then that she heard the shrill cry of a wolf below. Silence instantly followed. She swiftly drooped her head down below towards the ground, inspecting one of the many wolves lying in the dirt with a wooden arrow buried inside its chest. She was confused, scared, and curious at the same time. Where did the arrow come from? Who shot it? Had the person heard her cry for help, or had it only been a hunter? Before she had time to look around for an answer, another wolf had been shot with an additional incoming arrow. Quickly, the yellow-haired traced the direction of the sharp shaft that had been fired only to look upon an archer woman who had situated herself next to a tree nearby Alice.

"Are you alright, miss?" the woman asked. Alice could tell that this was no ordinary woman. She had the most intense eyes the girl had ever seen in her lifetime. "I'm fine. I was...

Suddenly, Alice's sentence was cut short as something large charged through the bushes. At first, she had only seen the thing's silhouette, but as her eyes adjusted, the figure she saw made her gasp in shock. It was a man...or was it? The person had thick jet-black claws, (or perhaps talons, as they looked incredibly sharp) and two identically matching horns on the top of his head. What was happening? Who was this man? Some sort of creature that lurked in the wood? A mangled version of a Minotaur, perhaps? Whatever he was, he seemed more confused about his identity than Alice was. The expression he gave as he touched the two horns on his temples...in some otherworldly way, the girl knew she could trust him. She had a gut feeling.

Just when Alice thought there was enough pandemonium, another person appeared from out of nowhere. "Leave her alone," she could hear the young woman shout. Although she looked as if she had been recently drenched by rain, the lady had no similarities to the man who had showed up before. She appeared to be fairly normal; fiery red hair and subtle freckles framed her face. Before Alice had time to really get a good look at the girl, she could see the monstrous wolves advancing towards her. Then Miss Kingsleigh understood: the girl's plan was to create some sort of diversion, a distraction. However, the way the wolves were eyeing her up, she knew it wouldn't last long. She needed protection.

Having a surge of courage shoot throughout her frail body due to the red-headed girl's appearance, Alice tightly grabbed the edge of her sword and began to climb down from the safety of the tree. No wolves were trying to scale it now, so she had the opportunity to jump down without being mauled by the carnivorous beasts. She looked below at the hard grown just past her feet, closed her eyes, and let her body fall down to the ground. Although she did smack the forest floor with a rough thud, she landed safely, and had enough time to swing her bronze-colored sword into the masses of two wolves. In the blink of an eye, something had ran into her, and pinned her to the ground. It was a particularly darker-colored wolf with a scarier face than the others. It barked at her with slobber running down its sharp teeth. With a shriek-like gasp, Alice moved her head to the side before it had the chance to rip off her face. She grunted as she pressed the tip of her sword into the wolf's belly. It cried in pain, and then became limp. Before attempting to push the heavy carcass off of her small body, the yellow-haired girl stared desperately into the eyes of the strange man, the redhead, and the archer woman. There were only a few wolves left. Enough for them all to take on. "Come on!" she shouted, "I still need help!"

Marian was loosing another bow, but a streak of red distracted her, and as a result the arrows missed its target by a good couple of yards- something that is not exactly what she needs at the moment, as her lack of a proper amount of arrows is, besides the safety of the yellow-haired girl, the biggest concern on her mind at the moment. After cursing herself, using language that she is suddenly surprised at her own knowledge of, but that confirms her suspicions that she is not exactly from nobility. Was I raised near here? the girl begins to wonder, but she quickly reminds herself that now is not the time for this, for this wondering, and that creating more anxiety for herself may very well result only in her clouding her mind and wasting even more of her arrows. She hardly needs even more of that, does she?

Thus, Marian looks back over at the yellow-haired girl, only to see that her attention is now on Marian as well- at least for long enough that she begins to speak, the words somewhat soft and quickly cut off as something, human-like but not entirely, charges through the bushes and onto the scene. Instinctive in such situations, the young woman nearly draws her bow and looses another arrow at this new arrival, which is larger than the rest of the wolves. Luckily, she did not do so before realizing that this was not another wolf, but a person- one who is inexplicably in possession of horns. From the sound of it, he is surprised by this as well, prompting Marian to give him a very quizzical look. This situation is getting more and more puzzling, and the fact that she has no recollection of anything prior to it, besides a walk through the woods, makes it even more stress-inducing. Marian takes a deep breath and focuses her thoughts on the most important matter at hand- not her memory loss, or the strangeness of this man. The most important thing is the safety of the childlike girl.

A shout from nearby didn't help, diverting Marian's attention to a red-haired girl who is being advanced on by wolves, and seems to have thrown a pinecone on one of them. Instantly, the archer in the tree frowns, shocked at what she perceives to be the lack of logic in the girl's actions. She could have climbed a tree and then made the distraction, or perhaps found a stick to somewhat protect herself with. Instead. . .a pinecone? Really? Marian can't even begin to guess what is running through the redhead's mind, other than the need to create a distraction. Earlier, Marian had entertained the idea of killing enough wolves that the younger girl would be able to get away. Now, her concerns are merely piling up.

On the positive side, it turns out that she had not overestimated the blond's ability to wield the sword she held. As if inspired by the redhead's reckless act, she jumps down from the tree and skillfully slays two wolves, soon taking the life of yet another. A smile twitches at Marian's mouth- she likes this blond girl already. The girl's call for help is more than Marian needs- she has already drawn her bow, and this time her aim proves to be true as she shoots a wolf between the eyes.

Now that more have been killed, her stock of arrows should be enough. Marian casts a doubtful look back towards the man, before loosing another arrow and killing another wolf. Feeling a bit more secure, she, too, descends from her perch in the tree. "Miss! Erm. . .Red! Please, get behind one of us," she calls out to the red haired girl, apparently having already pegged her as not much use in this fight. Besides, she is just now noticing that the girl is soaking wet- and wet clothing does not easy movement make.

Prince Adam

The whites of Adam’s eyes grew dark. He frantically looked at every corner of his surroundings before they disappeared into utter blackness. The forest and its greenery, the wolves circling the peculiar girl in the tree – was he losing his sight, or merely waking from the most horrible dream? Adam was left to the sounds that his ears had rushed to aid him, which grew stronger, sharper. “W-who’s there?” Surely my fate is not left to the wolves – he thought dreadfully, blindly groping the air. “I still need help!” the words were shrill in his newly heightened ears; they rang and echoed in his head. The agonized whines of a wolf soon followed, Adam jumped at the uproar. Everything seemed to spring and burst into his ears. He stood silently in the whole scene, his black eyes flickering eagerly at every new sound that came to play; steel against flesh, the rustling of fully fledged wolves, quick and balanced steps against the dirt, sharp whistles of arrows whizzing by, the excitement that stirred every fibre in the moment – What was this?

“Can you hear this?” Prince Adam cried to whoever was watching. Suddenly, an unbearable pain seized his body. Like a spring, he was coiled to the ground before he lunged forward in a magnitude that would have matched the same weight as having him explode into thousand bloody pieces. Adam slumped and scrambled to his feet. His white ruffled shirt was scattered across the dirt. Dark, ragged fur covered his enormous build. Adam’s gloomy, ivory face had twisted and resembled a lion’s – his dark lazy curls had also taken after that of a lion’s mane. His sight had returned and magnified to new heights, and were the colour of molten gold. “What in heavens?!” Adam roared, twirling in his new body as he tried to grab hold onto his wolf's tail. He patted the sides of furry his face and poked his clawed fingers into his mouth, which were lined with sharp, pointy fangs.

Adam turned to the red haired girl and halted, fingers poked inside his drooped jaw. He was fixed on her face, which was heavily scattered with freckles and oddly reminded him of sand. She had an almost inhuman beauty. But in his state, she might as well have not been human, Adam thought skeptically. The corners of his mouth curved slightly at the fact that his character had not left him, even though his body had. “Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,” he blurted out. His voice was rough and dense, almost wise. Even Adam was startled at the sound. The number of wolves began to dwindle. Adam knelt before a body and wrapped his clawed fingers around the arrow inserted in-between its eyes. He pulled it out with a crack. The wolf’s head slumped to the ground, tongue lolling out and eyes dead. "Miss! Erm. . .Red! Please, get behind one of us, ” he heard suddenly. Adam looked up ahead and saw a curious brown-haired girl perched in a tree. He grinned a toothy grin and had half a mind to shout “hello!” He was not doomed to die in the woods, after all.

One of the wolves had averted its attention away from the trees and advanced on the red haired girl. It snarled and snapped it muzzle, eyes blazing in a feverish rage. “Look out!” Adam shouted. All of a sudden the wolf raced after her. Adam then quickly followed, thundering after the mangy creature in all fours. To his surprise the wolf turned at its heel and whirled around, hurling itself at Adam. The impact caused both of the furry beasts to topple to the ground. The air was filled with great roars and snarls as Adam wrestled with the animal before finally crushing its throat. It thrashed for several moments in his hands, and soon the last breath of life had left and it went limp.

What a way to die, he thought mournfully, as he carefully placed the wolf to the ground.

In the hands of a beast.

For the second time that morning, the young man opened his hooded eyelids to greet the open world. There was nothing particularly interesting about the place where he was lying. It was somewhere in a small forest that was crowded by trees, bushes, and other forms of vegetation. There was the faint sound of the blowing wind. Nothing more. The place was sullen, and somewhat dark. He scratched his forehead, which was layered in dew-like sweat, and then with his other hand, he lifted up a slightly crumpled piece of parchment with a sketch of a man's face on it. He read the entire poster quietly to himself:

"Wanted, dead or alive. By order of her majesty, Princess Aurora and her fiancé Prince Phillip: thief by the name of Monsieur Hood, also known as "Robin Hood" Wanted for thievery and harassment. Reward will be given to whomever catches this man."

He sighed. Now he remembered. He remembered everything...
He remembered the amnesia, the darkness, the poster, and then the girl. Especially the girl. It was in that order, too. He had awoken in the midst of the early morning when everything was still dark. He was lost and confused, but not scared. For some reason, he did not panic at all. He figured it was just his character. He reached the belt upon his waist to find a crossbow and a dagger. Later, the man wandered through the darkness of the forest to discover the poster of the thief man in the moonlight. He stripped it from the tree it was posted on due to curiosity and interest. It just felt...right. And then as he traversed father into the wood, the starlight danced through the trees and shone upon a figure with golden hair. The girl. She was unconscious, and Will couldn't stop staring. But why? There was something inside of him that pitied her. By her appearance, he felt the need for reconciliation.

It was all so confusing, and it was all so real.

He brushed off the leaves that had accumulated upon him from his brief slumber, and started to walk forward. He had no idea where he was going, but he was heading somewhere. He had to. Something didn't feel right. Where was the girl now? Why did her appearance make a lasting impression on Will? Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? Was she far away, or close?...

Suddenly, there was the sound of booming footsteps coming from behind him. He turned his head around, only to be greeted by the sight of two black stallions. They were close; close enough to trample him over. Instinctively, he jumped to the side, meeting the safety and cover of thick green-hued bushes. There were plenty of them in this area. He pushed himself over to his side, and got a glimpse of something strange: a large majestic-looking coach. Although it was grand and somewhat inviting, there was something odd about it...

Due to the two horses' whinnies of surprise from Will's split-second action, a woman came into view. "Who goes there?" she cried. The young man did not respond. In fact, he made no sound as he creeped silently through the underbrush. He moved out of the woman's line of sight, towards the back of the cab. Through the windows, his eyes rested upon the image of what appeared to be a woman in a green cloak. Her hood was up, and he could not see her face clearly. However, he could pick out the slight structure of her features through the hood. In other words, the way she looked with the hood on brought back memories of who she was. Although he did not know the lady's name or why she was here, Will's facial features lowered into a deep scowl. Whoever she was, he had a bad feeling about her. She looked demure, yes, but something told him she was someone not to be tampered with...

Now far away from the suspicious woman, he turned away from the carriage and began to sneak a little faster. It was then he caught sight of another girl. The girl from earlier, to be clear. Will's heart dropped into his stomach. She looked confused, and she was feet away from the coach. With a basket in her hands, she cried “Who goes there?” clearly trying to act brave in the midst of the situation.

Getting closer, Will swiftly sprinted past her, grabbed her by the forearm, and dragged her to the nearby undergrowth of the forest with blinding speed. He refused to let her be caught, whoever she was. But why? For his own sake, or for the sake of herself and the other woman? He debated that question inside of his head while he was glaring at her with intense eyes, and pressing his pointer finger up to his lips. He was ordering her to be silent, all the while being silent himself. "Stay still," he said as softly as he could with his deep scruffy voice, "There are people nearby, and I don't trust them. I don't think you should either..."

It seemed as though the girl's second plea for help had affected the people more than the last one. The archer woman kept on shooting, while the man chased after the wolves in a fashion similar to Alice. He had injured the last hostile creature just as Alice had pulled the dead wolf off of her body. Exasperated, she gulped down air as if her lungs were empty. She could feel a small bead of sweat dripping down the side of her forehead. The girl turned the bronze sword in her hands one last time, and then managed the strength to stand up. She watched as the last few wolves retreated, darting away with incredible speed. The four of them had scared them off, and now all was at peace.

Alice sighed an enormous breath of relief, and placed a hand on her waist as she slumped over, still slightly out of breath. She looked down towards the ground, and then lifted her face up, only to catch a glimpse of the lion-faced man that lay just feet in front of her. Shock, not panic, made her shriek and jump far away from his figure. Only seconds ago, that face was a man's. There was a tail behind him now, too. She stared at him with a frightened look on her face, and then with a few short breaths, she slowly began to regain her composure.

"I'm so terribly sorry, sir..." she quickly spat out, her eyes now begging for forgiveness. "I didn't mean to, I swear..." Now she was anxious, all the while being perplexed by the man's metamorphic transformation. What had just happened? So many things...too many things, for sure.

She turned to face all three of the strange people who had just appeared. "I suppose I should be thanking you all now..." she blurted out. She wanted to say more, but she couldn't think of anything. For once in her life, Alice was at a loss for words. She wanted to improvise something, but she couldn't help it; the thought of the man's transformation was distracting her too much. She scurried up to him. Although she wanted to come closer due to curiosity, she kept her distance.

"All you alright, sir?" she asked him softly and firmly. "How did you do that?"

Ariel smiled as the little girl got down from the tree, eyes darting between the animals that were advancing on her and the young girl. Once the girl had her feet firmly on the ground, she proved herself more useful than Ariel had been. She killed two wolves with little effort, and then looked up to the group that had come to her aid. "Come on!" the girl shouted, "I still need help!" Ariel swallowed, looking to the other shell-type things in her hands, debating on the amount of damage they could do. They felt light- like they wouldn't do much harm to the beasts at all. She backed up slowly as the beasts started toward her again, though now they were pretty evenly split between the woman in the tree, the girl on the ground, and the half-man/half-beast.

Speaking of, it was just then that Ariel heard his voice- rough and confused. "Can you hear this?" Ariel frowned, trying to listen for whatever he was hearing. Could he maybe talk to the animals, like she could with fish? She looked back to the beast that was nearly on her, hearing a voice from afar call to her- "Miss! Erm. . .Red! Please, get behind one of us!" Ariel nodded, though she didn't take her eyes off the animal in front of her. It looked like a furry shark from this close. It's teeth were razor looking and dripping with saliva. It was going to eat her. Her heart started racing a bit faster as this occurred to her. Being eaten was no doubt one of her greatest fears. The thought paralyzed her. She couldn't move, couldn't scream- couldn't think of anything else.

This had been a terrible idea. Outside of the water she was of no help to anyone. She was just a hindrance. As the beast before her crouched and jumped at her, she let out a yelp and ran for the nearest person to her- the half beast man. The wet dress stuck to her legs, getting all tangled and causing her to stumble a few times on her way over. Luckily, he wasn't too far away. She was almost to him when the wet fabric caught her foot and caused her to fall into the dirt. Was she always this klutzy or just on land? “Look out!” Ariel looked up to see the scariest thing she had ever seen in her life.

She could only describe it as the largest, scariest looking cat she had ever seen. As Ariel had never seen a lion or bear before, she could not make these conclusions, but she had remembered a cat in Eric's castle. She could very well have a phobia of them now, seeing the blackness of the creature's eyes as he made the leap over her to save her. He wrestled the creature until it stopped moving, and when he came up he looked breathless and in pain. Ariel scrambled to her feet, gasping at the sight of him as he stood. He was so tall! He literally towered over the young blonde girl who ran to him, expressing that she was sorry. "I didn't mean to, I swear..." The blonde trailed off as the other woman, now down from the tree, came into Ariel's line of sight. She was the real hero here, Ariel thought to herself. "Thank you," Ariel said softly to the woman, after she managed to swallow the knot in her throat.

"I suppose I should be thanking you all now..." Ariel looked down at herself, frowning at the dirt that covered her from her toes to her chest. She hadn't been of much help at all. All she had done was get herself into trouble and caused the creature that stood by her now to get hurt. She should have just stayed in the water. Ariel continued to mentally scold herself, hearing a male's voice in her head. It sounded familiar and disapproving, as if it had scolded her time and time again. Her father's voice. The blonde girl turned to the beast that saved her life. "All you alright, sir?" Ariel looked to him in alarm, was he hurt? "A-are you hurt?" Looking up at him was difficult against the sun. She had to stand slightly off center, so that his head would block out the sun from her face.

"How did you do that?" The blonde's curiosity knew no bounds, and it made Ariel smile. She was glad that she left the water to try and help, even if she was of none. "You mean that you can't change form?" Ariel asked lightly, looking to the girl with her own dose of curiosity. What if this land was filled with magical creatures? Surely whoever had put her in that cell could not find her amongst so many magical beings? Would she be safe if she surrounded herself with others like her? "Thank you," she added, turning to the once-man. "You saved my life," she said softly. "I don't think those shell things would have saved me." Ariel stooped to pick up one of the abandoned pine cones, inspecting it. She turned to the woman who had used a strange weapon made of wood and string [Marian]. "What is this, anyway?"

Marian had given the man, or beast, or whatever he was, a curious look when he flashed her a toothy grin. Toothy is perhaps not the entirely accurate term to use in this situation- fang-y might be a tad bit more suitable, though the young woman knows that this is not actually a word. Seeing the strange hybrid man's smile, however, she becomes quite certain that it ought to be one, all the same. For a word must exist to describe something so completely perfect for it- and that grin was perfectly fang-y, no doubt about it. Marian's mind goes through these thoughts very quickly, and only in the back of her mind, for the rest is focused on the scenes around her. The man, steadily becoming less of a man in appearance, tackles down one of the final wolves, rendering it dead. Finally, the situation has calmed down, and she can now notice the lack of birdsong in the air. They were likely frightened away by the sounds of the battle. A soft word, or pairing of words, seems almost startling given the prior volume of the area, and thus grab Marian's attention. She looks at the red-haired girl and offers an encouraging smile, "Think nothing of it."

Being a few yards away from the blond, the man, and the redhaired girl, Marian does not immediately see the cause for the childlike one's cry. Certainly, the man is not human, but the horns and fangs are not so shocking as to prompt such a response- at least, given what the girl had just fought through so impressively. Intrigued, Marian walks over to the small cluster, wanting to know the source of the shriek- and the apology that had quickly followed it. Indeed, upon seeing the man, now more lion-like than human-like, Marian inhales sharply. It is almost a gasp, really, but cannot truly be described as such, being too sharp and restrained for that. She does not want to give any cause for offense, after all. The girl, who speaks a bit more maturely than her waif-like appearance would suggest, then voices a pseuod-thanks. She doesn't actually thank them, but her intent is clear enough, and Marian finds herself repeating what she had said to the redhaired girl, though her eyes linger hesitantly on the lion-man, "Think nothing of it. Couldn't leave someone on their own like that, could we?"

In fact, she had nearly slipped and said 'couldn't leave a lady on their own like that.' Such a use of pronouns might have irritated Marian, and she realizes that quickly enough to change the wording. For some reason, the young woman gets the idea that she might have been scolded frequently for not being properly ladylike. In this state, however, she can't really say for certain.

The redhaired woman distracts Marian's thoughts with an inquiry towards her bow. Marian thinks this a strange question, as surely it should be common knowledge, but given the woman's current state, indulges the curiosity. "It's my bow- you use it for shooting these arrows," she explains, and in doing so reminds herself to collect the arrows lodged in several different wolf carcasses.

"Pardon me a moment," she adds before walking around and pulling out her arrows. She wipes each against the grass, and then her pants, before they are returned to her quiver.

“Are you all right, sir?”
Prince Adam blinked, and quickly looked downwards.
He knelt before the young girl. “How did you do that?”

“Now, that’s something I’d like to know myself.” His lip curled and revealed two sharp fangs.

Adam watched with slight amusement as the young girl recollected herself. He was thrice her size, towering over her like a draft horse. He looked down at her large, doe-like blue eyes as they examined him with utmost curiosity. She had a child-like quality, he thought. It was most peculiar to see. “You are,” Adam’s voice was slow and coarse, like the swing of a great sword. “Very strange,” he continued, gently twirling a lock of her gold hair on his clawed fingers. His tail began to swing and snap in the air. She smelt different, odd. Adam’s nose twitched at her unfamiliar scent. “Where are you from, girl?” he said, resting his great body on the earth. His head was propped on his folded paws. Only now did Adam match the height of her shoulders. The tip of his black buffalo horns glistened in the sunlight. It was still day.

“Thank you,” Adam turned to the red-haired girl. “You saved my life,”

He bowed his head in return, feeling a little flustered. The words seemed to escape him. As Adam rested he watched the other girl as she went from carcass to carcass, picking the arrows from their bodies. There was something in her small activity that sparked in his head. As a boy, Adam threw stones, practiced at archery in the yard and engaged in other games that were of the aiming and shooting kind. He smiled a little at the memory, and suddenly the moment came where he realised that he had a castle. They could rest there for the night, Adam thought excitedly. How far could it be? He squinted towards the sky for a few moments, and then to the girls. They seemed as troubled as he was. All Adam had was a fresh memory of a luxurious palace, which he had no clue of where it was.

“What are we to do now?” He said. “I do hope one of us knows the way out of these woods.”

Questions flooded the raven-haired woman's mind. What if something happened to Rapunzel? What if she never fixed her mistake in time? What if she failed, and caused the destruction of life as she knew it? The woman tried to suppress her uneasiness, but she couldn't. She just couldn't. Ever since her falling out when she had been young, naive and daring, Babayaga tried to avoid responsibility. She even dreaded it. Now she was in the midst of it, and she could not help but feel tremendously terrified.

Her feelings consumed her so much, that she made the shadowy steed stop as they came to a mysterious location in the forest. As the horse halted, she looked upon the many wooden signs that surrounded her. They pointed to places...Agrabah, Rosethorne, Meridian...yes, these were the crossroads. Babayaga had not been this far into the wilderness for many years. It was haunting, and yet enchanting as well. Despite taking a few brief moments to reflect upon the noble area, the enchantress plunged right back into distraught. She was way too far; Rapunzel's tower was nowhere near here, in the West. She'd have to turn around and head back. She commanded Dius's stallion to do so, and that's when she noticed the brigade of armor-clad men waiting just behind her.

In an instant, the horse beneath Babayaga disappeared into thin air, and she landed unto the ground with crash. The curly-haired woman quickly picked herself up from off of the forest floor, and despairingly glanced around. For a moment, it was so silent, you could hear a pin drop. Babayaga's heart plunged into her stomach, and her palms became clammy with salty sweat.

"Seize her."

Suddenly, the woman's feet started to move behind her. Knights were approaching her swiftly like a roaring avalanche rolling down a mountain. She picked up the pace, and began to dart between the trees in a zig-zag formation. Looking behind her and seeing that it was no use using strategy against the West's military units, her adrenaline started to kick in, and the witch ran as fast as her stiff feet could take her. From here on out, she was a wanted criminal in the eyes of the guards. The West never liked magic-folk, and with the way she appeared, Babayaga displayed her identity like a brightly-colored peacock in the shining sun. In seconds, she could feel some sort of tingling beneath her feet. Looking beneath her, the witch could see the movement of wooden shafts just barely piercing her ankles. Great, now there were arrows being shot at her. Just what she needed. How long would it be until she dropped dead from mere shock?

No...she couldn't allow herself to be captured or killed. She was too important to the world now, and she wasn't in the mood to be a martyr or a childless mother. She'd fight back. She'd fight back hard. Channeling her violent rage into her tightly-clamped fists, Babayaga speedily shot random spells at the guards behind her. She had no qualms with killing, and so whatever incantation came out of her hands, she hoped it hit the men with as much force as possible. The earth below her suddenly started to turn downwards. She was running hastily down a sloping hill. With too much force, she'd fall over. Quickly and without much coordination, she slowed down. She was far enough from the rushing knights that Babayaga could regain her concentration. She moved her hands around in an enigmatic fashion, and with her eyes closed, her hands tingled with the sound of a high-pitched noise.

Heat all around her now, she opened her eyelids only to greet a massive wall of vibrantly scorching red fire. Although it was relieving and undoubtedly breathtaking to whomever stood in the midst of it, the woman knew it wouldn't be long until the guards would formulate a plan to travel around it. She kept running, and in the middle of picking up the pace again, she shot a small ball of green smoke from her hand onto the ground. The small sphere exploded into a large cloud of dark-colored smoke upon hitting the ground. Once the fog cleared, Babayaga was nowhere in sight.

Moments later, the woman lay on a large pile of leaves near the bottom of the hill. Exhausted couldn't even accurately describe how she felt after being chased by the swarm of guards. Her arms, legs, neck, and back all felt limp, weary, and weak. Sweat covered her forehead, and her hands strangely stung in subtle pain. After many minutes of just lying on the ground, Babayaga finally got the courage to lift herself back up from off of the ground, and continue going. She realized in that moment that from then on, she'd always have to keep moving. No matter how much she suffered, how much she wanted to fall to the ground and wither away like leaves in autumn, she would not allow herself to stop until her goal was complete. Until her daughter was saved...

Far horizons - that's what she met as she pilgrimed father into the wood. It wasn't long until Babayaga realized that her eyes were failing her...or at least that's what she believed. There was a man standing near large table. Yes, in the middle of the forest, a man was having some sort of tea party...or at least he appeared to be having one. But by himself? Why was he having a tea party by himself? Wait, what? What was this madness Babayaga was seeing? There was no way this strange man could be throwing a party by himself in the middle of the barren forest. But the smells of the cakes and the drinks...she could smell them. The colors were all to real to be fake. She raised a brow. If this was a mirage, it was a jolly good one. She was starving and dehydrated, and there were refreshments sitting on the table. At least she could feel satisfaction from pretending to eat something while actually dying from malnutrition.

"That is absolutely ridiculous," she said to the man scornfully, "having a feast in the middle of the wilderness all by yourself. Don't know how on earth you could have dragged that big ol' fancy table of yours all the way out here. But then again, you're not real anyway..." She sauntered around the table, looked at the pastries and beverages, and picked out a light blue-colored cup with hot tea contained inside. She drank it, and although it wasn't the cold drink she asked for after practically running half a mile in mere seconds, the warmth did refresh her insides and made her tranquil and more calm. With the cup in her hands, she started to pace back and forth.

Sighing lightly, she began to talk to herself, something she always did when she was stressed. "Alright, how am I going to manage to avoid prison, save my daughter, and prevent the slaughter of many strangers I've never met in a matter of two days?..." The woman thought long and hard as her jet-black boots skidded upon the leaves and other things that laid upon the forest floor. There had to have been a way to reverse the curse of the potion. Maybe there was even a way to extend the time it took before the rotten formula killed everyone. However, Babayaga knew it was risky to try spells or formulate new potions. It was dangerous experimentation and could only lead to more accidents. There were chances the woman certainly did not want to take. She thought harder; what did she need to do? What did she absolutely need to obtain in order to solve her problem?

The answer was obvious: help. She needed help. She needed enormous amounts of help. However, for the witch named Babayaga Gothel, help had always been hard to find. She had rejected aid and advice numerous times, and so many assumed that she didn't need it. They thought she just preferred to do things alone. The woman even thought this herself. Furthermore, Babayaga found it hard to trust people these days. If she did manage to find help, manage to find someone worth her time, they would undoubtedly betray her. That's just how life worked for the uptight woman. That's what she always expected every time someone offered assistance. What she wanted was someone honest. Someone who offered advice without telling a single dirty lie...

She gasped when she realized what she so desired. "Of course," she muttered, "The Magic Mirror..." Fortunately, Babayaga was one of the very few who knew of the mirror's existence, and the place where the enchanted item was hidden. Unfortunately, it was located in a treacherous place. No place for a person like herself. The mirror was somewhere in Snow White's kingdom. More specifically, her castle. (Or at least, that's what the rumors always said) With what she had just encountered only a few minutes ago, the witch knew that waltzing into the magic-banned kingdom without a plan was just like suicide. No matter what though, she was going to speak to that mirror. She had to. It was the only way she could formulate some sort of plan to remove the curse.

She sighed. It would be a hard road, but she would take it. She thought on. She wasn't done with her tea yet, and the woman was still thinking ahead. What would happen once she figured out what to do? Once she had done what she needed to, how would she know that she had succeeded? That was a tough question to answer for the woman. She bit her lip in intrigue, and continued to pace back and forth. Once Babayaga took a good look at the man's table her problem instantly resolved. Of course! Why didn't she think of it right away? It was cliché, yes, but it was just tempting enough for other people that it could possibly work...

She conjured a piece of parchment out of thin air, and with the wave of her fingers, had it stick to the nearest tree. With a dark smirk, she stared at the poster with satisfaction.

Outdoor Festival!
Music! Dancing! Excitement!
Join us tonight in the Meadow Forest's clearing in the Hub.
Royalty and commoners alike are welcome!
The festival will run from late afternoon until midnight.
See you there!"

With another wave of her fingers, more copies of the poster began to appear, and fly up high into the sky. The witch watched them intently as they flew off like birds flapping their wings. She knew that soon, they would be posted all across the land for many to see. In silence, Babayaga thought about her ploy to gather everyone together so she could use them as test subjects later on. She had never liked parties and social gatherings, but she knew that it would be essential for clearing up the mess she made. Maybe if she still hadn't reversed the effects of the potion, other people would discuss it amidst the party and figure out solutions themselves. Babayaga kept telling herself that something good was bound to come from it. However, she couldn't help but dread over the fact that she'd have to listen to the sound of loud annoying music later in the day...

Finished with her tea, the still exhausted enchantress placed the empty cup back on the table. All signs of frustration and anger were wiped away from her face, and for a few moments, Babayaga actually looked...happy.
"Tea is always very refreshing," she said to the man with a smile on her face, "Excellent for the brain, as I always say..."

"You mean that you can't change form?" inquired the red-haired lady almost immediately after Alice had asked the man-beast about his transformation. "Huh? Wait, so you mean..." Oh no. Had Alice landed in a world where everyone was a shapeshifter? Obviously the freckled girl had another form other than the one she was currently in. Perhaps she was a fish, as she had appeared on the scene being soaking wet. What about the archer woman? Did she have another form too? Before Alice could descend into madness due to the uncertainty that flooded her head, the lion-like man's voice brought her back to reality.

“Now, that’s something I’d like to know myself.” he said in a strong, firm voice. Before he stood up, towering over the girl, his lip curled to reveal to sharp pointy fangs. "Woah..." she muttered with a smile. By instinct, her arm reached up to touch both of the shiny fangs. However, once she realized what she was doing, she swiftly drew it back to her side where it belonged.

“You are,” said the man with a smooth voice, “very strange.” Alice looked down to find his falcon-like claws twirling her yellow-colored hair. She giggled and met her gaze with his cat-like eyes. "I get that a lot," she said with a warm smile.

Wait, what did she say again? Although she didn't show any sign of in on her face, Alice was confused. What had prompted her to say "I get that a lot"? Looking back on it, she had done it unconsciously. She didn't know what other people thought of her. Maybe her amnesia was wearing off a bit, or she was just making things up...Whatever she had done, it was strange.

The lion-man continued, "Where are you from, girl?” He was propped up on his paws in such a fashion, that only now he didn't seem so tall. He was so entertaining to watch...and his movements reminded her of another cat she knew. Yes, another cat with a great big smile that she had seen in a courtroom of sorts. He had appeared in what seemed like a dream. Suddenly, Alice lost her smile. She was daydreaming, and she had to answer the question. Unfortunately, she couldn't come up with an accurate response to the particular question he had asked.

"I...I do not know..." This gave the girl an empty feeling inside. It was her personality, not the loss of her memories, that craved a place to stay. A place to call home. As the lion-man went over to talk to the redheaded girl (whose life he had saved) Alice slowly sat upon the forest floor, placing her head on top of her knees and gripping her ankles together with her hands. Remembering her knapsack, the golden-haired girl took out her notebook, and began to flip through the pages once more. There were such intricate drawings of other-worldly things...It was almost like trying to read a book written in an entirely different language. Yet again, Alice stopped turning the pages once she reached the picture of the enigmatic mirror. She stared at it for what seemed like many long minutes.

“What are we to do now?” the shapeshifting lion-man asked. “I do hope one of us knows the way out of these woods.” The girl decided to speak up about her "field guide". "Well...before I ran into all of you, I was looking for a mirror...see?" she said while holding up her notebook open to the page with the mirror. "There are lots of other things in here as well...If only I could learn more about them, learn what they are and where they are..." she said, trailing off back into her own mind. Suddenly, she closed her book and stood up.

"Oh! That reminds me, I haven't even introduced myself," she acclaimed while brushing the dirt off of her blue dress. "My name is Alice...Kingsleigh...?" She had forgotten her last name. Had it been Kingsleigh? "Yes, Kingsleigh. If you don't mind, I'd love to learn all of your names."

Softly, Alice's stomach grumbled once again. She sighed and looked down with slight annoyance. "I'm sorry," she started, "but by any chance does anyone have some food I can eat? I'm starving, and I don't think I'm in the particular mood right now to try dead wolf meat..."

Ariel glanced around the group as the woman collected her arrows and the young girl and lion talked back and forth. It seemed that both of them were encountering memory issues as well. The young girl had some sort of thingamajig... What was the word? Book! Yes. She had some sort of book that she was looking into. She trailed off and closed her book, suddenly realizing that she had not told anyone her name. Alice, the girl said. Alice Kingsleigh. Then the girl wanted to know their names, too. Ariel started to take a few steps back. She wasn't so sure about this. The girl was talking about being hungry now. Hungry. There it was again- that thundering in her chest. Was the little girl going to try and eat her? Why was she so terrified? Did this have something to do with being a mermaid, or was it just a personal fear? Ariel looked to the Beast who towered over the little girl.

If the people who had wanted her trapped were after her because she was a mermaid, because she was magical- would they not be after him as well? He had saved her life. Surely she owed him more than this. She owed it to him to stay with him, though she couldn't help him any more than he could help himself. Then there was the fact that he was as large as a shark. He could protect her if she could not protect herself. Yes, staying with this beast would be the better idea. Besides- she had no idea how to get out of the wood. Swallowing her fear, Ariel shuffled back over to the group as she tried to ignore the sticky feeling of the wet and muddy clothes. "Ariel," she managed to say. "My name is Ariel."

Ariel looked to the little blonde girl and offered her a weak smile. "There's a castle that way," she added, pointing up the river from where she had came. "But I'm not sure a warm welcome will be there for you and I," she added, turning her attention to the Beast. "They had me in a cell.." She trailed off, unsure if she should be telling them this or not. What if they thought she was a criminal? "There were many other magical beings held there as well... I intend to head as far away from there as possible. As for food.." she trailed off again, glancing behind her then back to the girl. "I, ah... I don't remember what humans eat." She ran a hand through her drying hair to push it away from her freckled face. "Oh. I'm a mermaid," she concluded. Ariel bit her lower lip and then glanced to her left, into the forest. She opened her mouth to say something else but was cut off by a piece of parchment that had fluttered into her face.

Ariel screamed and flailed her arms swatting at the paper that had landed on her. The crumpled parchment fell to the ground and laid there. Collecting herself, Ariel gingerly picked up the paper and smoothed it out again. It was a poster of some sort. "What in Posideon's name...?" It was a mutter to herself as she read over the paper. "It's a party invitation," she said aloud, handing the paper over to the little girl. "I've never seen paper do that outside of the water," she added thoughtfully. "Do you think they will have the food you wanted there? And maybe some dry clothes?" Ariel glanced between the figures before her, then to the parchment she had handed to the blonde girl. Things were getting more confusing by the second.

Well, then. I'm Prince Adam,”

The Beast rose to present the young girls with a proud bow. Suddenly his mouth parted and delivered a yawn that shook the feeble branches of the trees that surrounded them. “Yes, I’m rather hungry myself. We should make haste.” The Prince had always been sluggish and lazy, for he was the worst sort of castle-born. Unfortunately for his new friends, this seemed to have increased in his new Beast’s body. He rolled on his back and rested his eyes as the warm sunlight embraced his furry belly, thinking of pleasanter settings with cheese, a suckling pig, wine, a soft bed, and other fine things that lifted his spirits. It did not occur to him that they faced the possibility of death by hunger or thirst, worse, a fate left to the unruly hands of creatures that came in the black night. The thought came to Prince Adam then that he could not enter a village in his current monstrous state; for fear that they would drive him out of society with torches and other dreadful things. How his current friends have stomached his horrific form, he could not say, other than they were probably exhausted from prior events to enflame yet another commotion now. Of course they could have just been mad, which Adam was perfectly content with given how peculiar his day had already been. What is another dose of lunacy? He thought with a weary smile.

He started at Ariel’s sudden shrieks, leaping on all fours like a timid cat. “Good heavens!” Adam huffed, shaking his dark mane. “You’re like a fish out of water, mermaid. What’s that you’ve got there?” He poked his head over her cold, clammy shoulder and peered at the writing. “It’s a party invitation,” Ariel announced. He read the bold words in his head and pulled his brows together. Indeed, it appeared to be. Prince Adam strode towards Alice, his wolf’s tail swirled side to side. “What do you make of it, Alice? Sure is… Odd, don’t you think?” his long whiskers twitched as he sniffed the parchment. “I've never seen paper do that outside of the water,” Ariel added thoughtfully. “Do you think they will have the food you wanted there? And maybe some dry clothes?”

“Oh no, no – there’s definitely something sinister about it. Something of…” Prince Adam began to pace to and fro, tail whipping in the air. His golden eyes were fixed on the parchment. “Dark magic.” He growled finally, coming to a halt. There was something of the topic of dark arts that touched a nerve. There was a familiar repugnance, and a deep settled fear locked inside him. Prince Adam was not prepared to walk into a trap, despite how quickly taken he was towards the girls. A curious piece of floating parchment delivering promises of merrymaking and that sort – it must have been a hoax. He would not see Ariel so easily deceived now that she was on land. Surely Alice and the archer girl have not lost their wits. But Prince Adam was not a leader. He would decide on the final word before making action.

“What do you think, archer?” He called out to the brown-haired girl picking arrows from the wolf carcasses.

Prince Adam then padded off on all fours. His paws thudded gently on the forest floor as he endeavoured to search for the remains of his clothing. Under crusted brown leaves, his trousers were shredded to pieces, and something in the distance glimmered in the light. Prince Adam rose on two feet then, surprised at how simple it was for him to do so. He took a moment to examine the condition of his hands, bringing them before his eyes. The black claws seemed to withdraw at command, Prince Adam gasped slightly as they drew back into the socket. His fingers were thick and furry, almost like a lion’s paws, but he was relieved that he still wielded the ability to grasp and stretch onto things. Prince Adam walked towards the shiny object in the dirt. It appeared to be a dagger. Prince Adam rubbed the dirt from the base. It was slightly rusty, but firm and very handy. Ariel could make use of it, unless she had a mind to forge a weapon out of pinecones. “I have something for you, Ariel,” he shouted, walking back.

Marian sends a sort of cursory glance towards the others as they continue to discuss things, still collecting her arrow. Well, collecting one arrow, as it happens, for this particular one seems to have gotten lodged into the creature at a most unfortunate angle. Finally, the young woman puts her boot against the wolf and pushes with her foot as she pulls the arrow out, succeeding at least in recollecting that last arrow. After placing each of the arrows, some of them after wiping them off on the grass, back into the quiver, Marian once more looks over at the others, though this time her looking does not involve seeing so much as thought.

She only tunes into their conversation once the lion-man asks aloud whether anyone knows how to navigate out of these woods. A curious look towards the others tells that she is wondering the same thing. Typically, Marian would be able to get herself out of here very quickly and with little trouble. But, lacking the memory of various landmarks and such, the girl now lacks that ability, surely. Even if she had some sort of physical memory of it, Marian wouldn't trust it enough to start wandering blindly through the woods. Unfortunately, no one else seems to offer a way through the woods.

The child-like one speaks of mirrors and the little book in her hand, which is apparently a journal of some sort. Marian regrets not having such a thing herself, the only clues to her past being her bow and arrow and, to some extent, her clothing. Had she known that she had passed right by a group of people whom she had known- well, they would not have recognized her anyway, unfortunately, so perhaps the matter is not worth mentioning. It soon becomes clear to Marian that this girl isn't actually providing a way out, though perhaps she's getting around to mentioning the fact that her journal has a map of some sort?

The subject takes a change as the girl introduces herself, though uncertainty lingers over her last name for a moment, leaving Marian to suppose that she is not alone in her knowledge of her name and name alone. "I-" she begins, intending to introduce herself, but the blonde girl, Alice, continues on about being hungry, and of course, Marian realizes that she is a bit further away from them, and probably couldn't be clearly heard by them.

"My name is Marian, Marian Sutton. It is a pleasure to meet you all," she finally greets them, bobbing her head in a sort of lesser bow motion. As the redhaired girl, now identified as Arielle, speaks she nods, deep in thought. Clearly they cannot go to that castle, for fear that the girl may be captured again, but if they followed the river in the opposite direction. . .surely they will stumble on a village eventually. Where there is water, there is people, of this much she is certain.

The paper thing which she finds, Arielle finds that is, is a source of suspicion for Marian. How had they not noticed it before? She was certain it was not there recently, and it must have been placed just today, given that it says tonight. In fact, the time being 'tonight' makes Marian doubt even further. Surprised at his comment towards her, Marian glances towards Adam, who is apparently a prince of sorts.

"It must have been magic, for I would have remembered it being there. And if it wasn't, than I wouldn't believe it is very recent- 'tonight' isn't really a reliable time, is it? It is very. . .convenient, especially as we are all so vulnerable at the moment," Marian says these things carefully, not wanting to hurt any hopes. Still, her natural instinct says to avoid this- perhaps due to being with the Merry Men, who are wanted criminals. The instinct to avoid such open gatherings remains even after her memory has departed.

"But, I cannot make decisions for the rest of you. First, we must focus on finding our way out- is this the Meadow's Forest?"

"This isn't the Meadow Forest, Miss Marion Sutton." Alice said from the silence. Her back was turned to the three of them. "I would know." Suddenly, she turned to face Adam. There was slight distress written in the irises of her eyes.
"Your highness...to answer your question, the Meadow Forest is where I'm from."

Recently, various pieces of information about her new friends had hit her all at once like the force of a sledgehammer. She had learned their names, their apparent races, and their stories. When Adam had given a warning about the parchment, Alice knew well enough to listen and take his advice. It was mysterious; flying out of nowhere like a butterfly retreating from vibrantly-colored bushes. There was skepticism written all over her mind as her eyes darted across the makeshift invitation that the mermaid, Ariel, had handed her. However, once she had read where the party was being held, the comfy and cozy Meadow Forest, memories, like a storm of tiny rain droplets, began to flood her head.

It was a peaceful area. If there was a place that could represent dreams, fantasy, youth...the Meadow Forest was that place. It was in a region called the Hub. Yes, the Hub. Such a tranquil place. Of course, nothing happened there, but most people preferred it that way. All of a sudden, Alice could see a swing, a pastel-colored house, a river, an ancient tree, and then a rabbit hole. There was something somewhat special about the last image, though...the rabbit hole...It was all so odd, and it was happening so fast. Not words, not sounds, just images. They danced in her head. They spun and shifted and flashed. Finally, Alice couldn't take it anymore.

"I do not know the decisions you three will make, but I am heading to the Meadow Forest." she said firmly. "However, I do not know the dangers I will face, and I certainly do not know the way. Perhaps if I had a map and compass...Let's see..." She began to swiftly open her pouch. Maybe among the junk she had discovered earlier, there would be a map and the compass inside. Instead, when she opened the bag, what she saw inside shocked her, and subsequently made her jump.

It all happened so fast, but from the looks of it, it seemed as though a snow-white rabbit in a waist coat had jumped out of her bag, and ran off into the bushes. Alice's jaw was dropped, a bewildered look on her face. "Well, I don't know what that was about...Odd..." she said, recovering from her sudden shock. She shrugged off her tenseness and continued, "Anyway, let's see...

Strangely enough, all the junk that had been contained in her knapsack previously had somehow disappeared, and all that was left was exactly what she needed: a compass and a map. She quickly reached inside, pulled them out, and began to walk straight. According to the compass, North was directly in front of her. From the drawings etched onto the map, they were in a forest either in the West, the South, or even the East. The Hub, home of the Meadow Forest, was in the exact center of the ancient-feeling piece of parchment.

With a determined look on her face, Alice marched forward. "Let's move." she said, leaving the sides of Ariel, Marion and Adam, "At least heading somewhere and taking our chances is better than heading nowhere at all."

Once she had finished her statement, the girl had a thought: after what the four of them had did to the hungry, malicious pack of wolves that had almost killed her while she was alone, Alice wouldn't mind taking chances while she had the three of them around.
