Personality

Marcus is a rough kind of guy. He didn't have the nicest parents in the world but that didn't put much pressure on him since he is also an independent guy. He doesn't bully anyone, as matter of fact he is against it and tries to defend anyone that gets bullied. He is funny at most times and loves to be around people. When he is alone he doesn't feel complete, which is why he prefers to have people around him. He can put a smile on the most depressed person.

History

Marcus had a rough history living with his parents and his older brother. He grew up protecting his younger sister from his parents, he would get terrible beatings. This is the main reason he is against bullying. He got his sister and himself to live with their fathers brother and they are now happier living away from their parents. His history is what made him what he is today.

Marcus Dent's Story

During breakfast, Marcus went and grabbed some toast and went back to sleep.
"I'm not getting up." He thought to himself.
He had no roommate in the old dorm he was staying in, so he kind of liked the silence when he is asleep, a different story when he is awake though.

As he slept in through the morning he was late for introductions, forcing him to rush through getting ready but he wasn't really worried.
All ready, he walked to introductions 20 minutes late.

Marcus made his way towards the hall following groups of students. He was early so waited outside of the main hall and noticed an Academy student playing the guitar. Marcus smiled, he loved the sound of music.

He didn't say anything though, because he assumed that High students were contagious
diseases to the Academy students.
Marcus just leaned against the wall waiting for the introduction to start.

He noticed a familiar face, her name was Rebecca. She was the first High student he had seen all day.
But Marcus, waited till introductions to get to know the new students, so he just waited against
the wall.

Rebecca takes the note and giggles softly, producing her own pen and writes back.
That's okay - You're really good.
~Becca

She then turns away from the boy, knowing that he probably wasn't talking to her because she was a High student.
'they're all violent and horrible - I don't think their even human more like animals.' Becca had overheard a stuck up Academy girl with a face like a dustbin say.

Becca looked around the room, resuming her favourite position of twirling her flames through her hair and spots Marcus, standing up she walks over to where he's against the wall and says, "Hey," still twirling her lock of hair.

As Marcus is looking around at the students sitting down split in to two groups leaning against the wall wearing a black high collar zip-up jacket with a white t-shirt and black jeans, with black converse chucks.
He hears a soft voice; "Hey"
It was Rebecca from his old school. Marcus liked her because she was different from the others,
she was open. She was playing with her flaming red hair.

"Hey Becca, it's good seeing a familiar face." He said, smiling and still leaning against the wall.
"What do you think about this whole... arrangement with the two schools."
He asked her.

She shrugs "I don't know," She replies "but who ever thought of this obviously didn't think it through properly."
Her gaze falls onto the divided teenagers throwing dirty looks to eachother.
She bites her lip and then says quietly "Why do we hate each other?"

For as long as she'd been at Ridgerock High they were at war with the Academy and she really never knew why - She still doesn't.
It wasn't as if there was a huge scandal where a High student stabbed an Academy student or vice versa, there was nothing for them to hold a grudge against yet they managed to.
"It's crazy." She says, speaking her thoughts outloud by accident.

Marcus smiled as Rebecca got lost in her train of thought.
"Same old Becca." He thought.

"It's crazy." She said accidentally.
"Yeah I guess it is kind of crazy, it's like they want all of us to just fight or something."
He replied.

Marcus then saw another familiar face, his name was Tom. He was sitting at the back away from everyone.
Marcus smiled and just leaned back on the wall.
"You know that this introduction thing is not gonna end well right?" He asked Rebecca.

Tom just sat with Mandy and watched the large crowd in front of him. Then he saw Marcus, they hadn't really spoke much before but they knew about each other. They hadn't had any trouble with each other which was rare for Ridgerock High students. They both had heard about each others families and both had similar experiences with abusive parents so Tom had respect for Marcus and the feeling was mutual.

Tom then looked at Mandy again, she said "Is this introduction mandatory?" Tom then looked at Marcus again and remembered he was a smoker which gave him an idea. He then looked back at Mandy and she looked bored as hell and he wanted to stop that. He leaned over "It wont be mandatory in a minute, wait here." Tom went over to Marcus, "Hey Marcus can I borrow your lighter?" Marcus obliged and gave him the lighter. Tom then sneaked out of the hall and gave a mischievous smile to Mandy. Tom walked down a corridor and was looking around. Tom then went into a classroom and climbed on a table. His idea probably wasn't the greatest considering it was the first day, but it was a great idea at the same time and gave those academy kids something to think about, what was ahead for this school? The table he was stood on was under a fire detector. He pulled the lighter out and ignited it under the detector, all of a sudden the alarm went off and the sprinkler system activated causing water to fall to the ground in all the rooms, including the main hall. Tom quickly made his exit from the building and waited outside sitting on a fence, waiting for everyone to come out.

"Marcus can I borrow your lighter?"
Tom asked Marcus.
"Sure." Marcus handed it over thinking that Tom was going to have a smoke.
after he left, the sprinklers suddenly turned on and most of the academy students and even
some of the high students started screaming.

Marcus just started to laugh as he left and saw Tom outside with Amanda also laughing.
"That was great!" He said laughing and then he sighed; "I need a smoke."
He pulled one out not caring about any teachers, and grabbed a second lighter from his pocket
and lit his cigarette.

Rebecca nodded at Marcus - How could it go well? Two enemy schools were in the same room.
She then looked over to Tom and smiled, biting back a laugh as she looked around the corridor at him in the classroom.
Deciding it was best to get out before she got soaked, she walked out with Amanda.
Becca grinned at her and said, "Hey," then turned to Tom and let out a light laugh.
"Well at least the Academy know what they're in for." She winked and felt her damp hair.

She hadn't quite gotten out when the sprinkles went of and so she was pretty damp; she could only guess that the Academy students were soaked.
Looking at the guys smoking she frowns a little and turns her head - she hated it when people smoked but she masked her face so it wouldn't give away her discomfort.

Marcus looked at Rebecca and remembered she hated smoking.
He turned his head away and blew out the smoke.
"Sorry Becca." He said as he smiled.
He sat down on a bench that was behind him and leaned back.

Rebecca shrugged, smiling lightly to him "It's fine." and began chewing on her lip.
Her damp hair was already beginning to dry in the harsh sunlight; she lays back on the benches table, her arms out-stretched and shuts her eyes.
"It's so sunny for ones!" She grins, shaking her head so her hair dried.

Oh woah, she thinks I am weird

Nathaniel groaned and ran out of the building as fast as he could. He looked up and saw High students, his eyes grew wide as he saw Becca. He knew he shouldn't have trust her or even talk to her, she was probably plotting a way for him to die or become extremely upset. He shook his head as he walked away, his shoes squelching as he did so. He huffed as he sat down and looked at his guitar, examining the damage that the water had caused. This was his favourite guitar, it was his first one he ever had. The only way to calm down was to play music and it had just been taken away from him. He ran his hand through his hair and gripped on it hard, He let his guitar fall to the ground, it was already ruined beyond repair it didn't feel as if it would survive so there was no point in taking care of it. He paced the ground for a while and then sat down with his face in his hands.

After a while he made his way to his dorm, mainly because he felt as if he had cooled down but also because he was freezing in his soaked clothes and the wind whipped against him when he was outside. It seemed that the sprinklers went off inside the dorm rooms well because his bed was soaked, luckily he had left his unpacked bag in the bathroom where there were none. He sighed as he grabbed a dry towel from the rack inside the bathroom, probably the first dry thing he had touched. He shook his hair as droplets splashed out and removed his shirt. He put on clean, dry clothes and another scarf and then he washed his face with warm water. He sighed as he stepped out of the bathroom and looked at his flooded bedroom. He grabbed his blankets and and pillows and went down to the laundry room to wash. Suprisingly no one was there, actually now that he thought of it nobody was anywhere. He shrugged it off but was still suspicous as he shoved his blankets into the dryer. He tapped random stuff around the place and eventually got into a beat which made him smile.

He hummed as he waited and eventually heard the ding. He grabbed the lot and made his way up to his room again, barely seeing where he was going and he walked through the doorway not having enough hands to close the door. He made his bed and sat on top of it.
"Seems like I'm going to have to buy a new guitar." he frowned looking up at the roof of his room.

Marcus was with Tom and Amanda, sitting down and watching all the academic students walk out.
"Are those umbrellas?" Marcus questioned out loud.
"They really came prepared, I didn't even know you were going to turn the sprinklers on." He said to Tom quietly.
Marcus put out his cigarette, he was still in his holiday mood as he forgot that some of the students from high
hated it when he smoked.

"Well since introductions are over... I'm gonna go get some breakfast I missed out on." Marcus stood up and walked towards the cafeteria and waved goodbye to Amanda and Tom, one hand in his pocket, and the other waving. On his way he passed Rebecca, she seemed upset. "Is everything okay, Becca?" He asked as he slowly walked passed her and stopped.

Rebecca nods "oh right, I forgot." She says looking at Nathan and sighs, "well, like I said - I really am sorry."
She bites harder on her lip and hears Marcus' voice.
Spinning around she nods "Yeah I'm fine," and then to hide the Academy boy behind her she smiles "where are you off to, then?"

Becca then looks to the Academy girls with rain-macs and umbrellas and she frowns slightly - How did they know?
"Well that's pretty lucky," She laughs "Kinda strange though, them carrying macs around with them when it's so sunny?"

"Where are you off to, then?" Rebecca asked.
"Just going to the cafeteria to see if there is any food. I just hope not all the food is soaked." He said as he chuckled.
"That was the guy with guitar wasn't it? We should have warned him, so he could save his guitar, he was really good at it." He said as he watched him walk to his room, thinking that his room was probably wet as well.

"Well I'm going to get something to eat, you can join me if you want, if not, then that's fine." He invited as he was smiling, and walked off waving at Rebecca.

Mel could remember and cast her mind back to when they were informed that in their next year, they'd be joined by students from Ridgerock High and that Ridgerock Academy would be no longer and instead become Ridgerock School of Secondary Education. The name sounded so boring. Afterall, one only has to reference an Academy in their credentials to make them look good, but now it seemed that things had been degraded. Mel was a proud young woman who would stand up to her beliefs, to stand up to what she believed was right, and as such, she would not stand and allow these yobbo's to mess things up. Afterall, the Academy had high standards, and whether those from High believed it or not, education was important, and in the end, it was those who succeeded in education who got the higher jobs, like the Doctors who would patch them up when they get beaten up, or the lawyer who would help prevent them going behind bars. Quite ironic, wasn't it.

However, despite their ignorance, it seemed they had no choice but to put up with them, and remaining on two separate sides was not going to help one bit. As much as she would prefer to keep things separate, it would just mess things up and cause more agro like the whole event that had just taken place to avoid the introductions meeting that was planned, which was obviously now cancelled as a result. Nevertheless, Mel kept in her mind what troublesome people were like from her early days before attending Academy and as such, she ensured she was prepared for it. The most likely antic, was the fire alarm which meant the sprinkler system was activated, which meant that she'd need to be prepared for it, which she was.

Those in the Academy were there for a reason, and there was also the mighty Girl power which could not be questioned and should not be questioned. Why was it that many flocked to them. However, not all could fit under the umbrella's, but from such an endeavour, the others would come to realise that things were starting and that they too had to be prepared. Those from High had started it, clearly not wishing to make amends, so it was either fight back or make a difference, and wiping the smug off their face to show they didn't affect all the Academy students, would be a start. Not that it was an effective means, but it did keep her and her friends try, as well as Andrew who had come and stood under the umbrella with her. Thanks love", he said with a wink which made Mel smile.

"Don't worry, Mel, I got a new one today", Mel heard Janie say as she turned to her and saw her pop her own umbrella out. It was like having a younger mini-me, as she reminded her alot of herself, or at least her younger self due to their similarities. It always made her smile and made her feel all warm and excited inside since Janie was such a bubble of energy that rubbed off on her, as their group then casually walked out of the college and into the grounds. Looking up, she noticed some of the High students near the bench and by the looks of them, they were quite chilled and unaffected by the whole thing, so they must approve of the whole affair, though Mel wasn't one to point the finger unless she had the facts.

"I think I might change after school, anyone up for a beach day?", Janie suggested. Mel smiled, "That would be awesome!" seeing as it would bring a nice end to the day before returning to their rooms and getting their beauty sleep. Certainly something to look forward too while they dealt with their first day back at school, which once was very exciting, but now, well, it was hard to come up with a word to describe it as it was nice being back and being reunited with Janie and being with Andrew again, but then there was the negatives also, so overall a fairly balanced day she supposed.

It was then that Janie was motioning people to come with her, as Cassie and Brianna got the message so they could spend some time to dry themselves down, leaving Mel alone with Andrew. "Well, looks like it is just the two of us...", she commented, before leaning back gently on Andrew as she then said softly and all innocently, seeing as there was no need to act like a pillar of strength and could now rest in his arms, "...The girls have left me, and there's no introductions. Now what to do...". Initially the schedule of the day was for there to be introductions before everyone having a break and then having tours, before having lunch and then sports afterwards. Well, the school now had to put the heating on and dry up, and as for the tour, she already knew the place and every nook and cranny.

The day would now go alot smoother. Sure the silly antic had wet everybody and put a dampener on today, but one thing was for sure, it certainly woke people up to the truth and also made people dashingly handsome as she looked at Andrew and then stroked his chest gently with her free hand, seeing as the water had wet his shirt and making it stick to his skin but as a result, it made him even more hot and more alluring and with it just being them now and the day being messed up, she could surely stick to him also. It seems, thinking about it, that she should thank the guys who did it and hopefully close the gap between them. "Take me somewhere Romeo", she said softly as she looked to him and looked into his beautiful eyes, ignoring everyone else. She'd speak to them later, pondering on what their reaction would be for having an Academy student causing disruptions. Haha.

Tom saw everyone rushing out of the building, he was just happy seeing the Academy kids squirm as they came out soaked. Marcus walked up to Tom "That was great!" he complemented. Tom just nodded and kept igniting the lighter, watching the flame. Tom's plan seemed to have succeeded, the opening day had been ruined single handedly by Tom, there was now no other choice but for the students to do what they wanted for the rest of the day, because it would have taken the rest of the day to dry the building out. For a minute Tom thought about the consequences and if he would be caught and if he was, would the headmaster have the balls to punish him severely. He thought about this for all of thirty seconds, he didn't care what they did to be honest, it wasn't his priority. Some of the other High students came up and were smiling and laughing about what Tom had done to the building. Amanda walked up to Tom, soaked but she was laughing. "Thanks Tommy. But now my hair is wet and I have to change my outfit" she said pointing to herself. Tom just smiled and said flirtatiously "maybe that was my plan to get you wet." He could say things like that to Amanda, she didn't care, she knew he would be joking.

Tom then saw a group of Academy girls come out of the building with umbrellas saving them from the soaking that most got. He just smiled and said "I guess i'll have to try harder next time." He laughed to himself. Tom looked at himself and saw he was practically dry apart from a couple of wet patches on his back, he didn't need to change, he could now just chill out for the rest of the day, maybe he'd go to the boxing gym and get a bit of training. "So Mandy, what are you going to do now?" he asked.

She laughed, "You never know, soggy bread could be delicious." She winks.

"That was the guy with the guitar wasn't it? We should have warned him so he could save his guitar, he was really good at it."
She nods in agreement as he says this and bites her lip "Yeah."
Yet her small smile that is permanently on her face brightens at the invite, "Sure, but I think I'm going to get a change of clothes first, see you there?" She waves back at him.

With that she walks off smiling, back to her room, quickly grabbing a change of clothes* and rushing back to the school building.
She sees Marcus back in the damp hall and smiles, it felt so much better to be in dry clothes - even if her hair was still a little damp.
"Tried any wet toast yet?" She grins at him.

Marcus smiled when Becca walked in. It was only those two in the cafeteria since the whole place was almost flooded.
"Tried any wet toast yet?" She said.
He looked at the dry toast in his hand, "Nope not yet." He smiled.
"Here." He said as he held out another piece of toast. "It's perfectly dry, but not hot."

He grabbed a towel, that he grabbed from one of the cupboards and placed it on one of the seats,
"Here take a seat."

Smiling, she sat down and looked around the now empty hall.
Water still dripped from the walls and everywhere was really soaked.
"It gunna take them a while to clean this up," She notes and laughs lightly "At least the Academy knows what they're in for, now."

She then turns her gaze from the large, damp assembly hall to Marcus, she takes the toast offered and smiles a 'thank you'.
"Now," She grins, "Tell me about you."
Her and Marcus weren't really the best of friends and therefore she didn't really know much about him; Rebecca was a nosey person by nature so finds it hard not to want to know everything about everybody.

"Tell me about you."
Marcus didn't really like talking about his past. His story was already spread through Ridgerock High, so he had no idea how Rebecca hadn't heard of it.
"Well..." He said nervously.
"As I grew up, my parents use to beat my older brother; Jonathan, my younger sister; Alexandra, and myself. Jonathan didn't go to high, he went to Academy, he had a job and basically looked after my sister and I." Marcus then looked to the ground and looked back into Rebecca's eyes.
"When Jonathan left home, my parents got more... how do you put it?... Deadlier. They would pick on my sister, and I would always shield her from the beatings. After living in hell, I took my sister to live with my uncle and aunt. This is how I started smoking, to relief stress I guess, but I don't smoke in front of my sister, and that is what made me the person I am today."

After a few seconds of awkward silence, Marcus broke it.
"So... what about you?"

Rebecca bit down hard on her lip and looked at the ground, feeling bad she'd made him relive his past.
"I'm sorry," She says, remembering a faint rumour about something like this but she'd never believed it to be true.

"So... what about you?"
It was hearing these words that she realised how much she didn't want to tell him about herself, but he had gone through the pain of tell her so she would endure it too.
"Uhm," She starts, her voice cracking a little and her arm shaking. She moves it behind her so he can't see and continues, "I was put into care when I was little and then this couple adopted me, but they didn't really want me, they wanted the benefits I came with cause every child you adopt, not only do you get benefits from the Government but also from the Adoption Agency to make sure you have enough to look after them."
Rebecca takes a deep breath and continues, "I don't want to say I had a hard life, because it was amazingly perfect compared to yours, but I wasn't happy - I don't think ever - until I came here because they just didn't acknowledge me, I would come home from school and be sent to my room until they gaves me a, meal? Well a kind of meal anyway and just generally ignore me, I didn't have many friends and I guess you could say loves was..Alien? to me so I never really had anyone. The only thing that kept me sane from the isolation was singing."

Her shoulders hunch a little as she looks at him and then the ground.
"I was alone all day, morning and night." She hides her face as a lock of red falls over it.

"because it was amazingly perfect compared to yours..."
These words echoed inside of Marcus' head. He really thought about it, was his life really the worst? He denied in his head, there were other people that had it worse in the world.
Then he heard Rebecca mention singing. "Ah, so you sing?" He asked her.

"I'd like to hear your voice one day..." Marcus said as he smiled and continued to eat his toast.

Rebecca let out a small laugh that sounds hollow in the sadness of the room, "That'll be the day, I never sing infront of people." She says.
Becca then turns back to her toast, thinking, she'd never really told anyone about her past so why tell Marcus? Was it because they both had unloving 'parents'? No, but she felt as if she could trust this boy.

"I should go," She says finishing her toast, "I need to, er, read.."
Well that was a obvious lie She thinks, mentally kicking herself as she gets up, she walks out on the room quickly and down a corridor, searching for an empty room.
She spots one, it was damp and small but that didn't matter, checking to see if it was unlocked - it was - she opens it, her breathing shaking.
"Dammit," She whispers, wiping a small tear from her face, she walks over to a chair and looks around her room.
It seemed like a large storage room at first but now, as her eyes adjust, it seems to be a music room.
She smiles and walks over to a piano, she never learnt how to play but she switches it on anyway and put it on 'auto-pilot' playing a random song, she then walks over to a large black door and opens it.
Her mouth almost hangs open in surprise, a recording room?
This school must have some serious cash to afford it and anyway, who in the academy could sing so well they put this in?

She shrugs to the air and grins, walking to the mic she stands there and then softly begins to harmonise with the song, putting the headphones on and shutting the world out.
