"Oh, my Gods, are you alright?!" Oralee looked quite upset that he was coughing at the time. It was impossible to tell what her thoughts were. Martin figured he could draw a general conclusion but anything too specific would almost inevitably prove false. "It's alright. This is just normal." He reassured her, hoping that would help calm her before the conversation moved forward.

"I'm unfortunately an offensive..." She had added after he commented on her being a light mage, which he had not seen before. "I've honestly never really met other mages. It's nice to know I'm not alone." He nodded in agreement to their mutual feeling on the matter.

She seemed to be quite amused by the idea's he had conjured about trading in demons and such.
"I wish! If I could trade Akiari... Gods know I would." They had quite the interesting relationship. They were almost like siblings in a sense. It illuminated the contrast between him and his demon's relationship like a lighthouse cutting through the darkness for all incoming ships to see. "I don't really know how we get along so well. It might be how we started out, together... She just kind of appeared, and after I...left home, we got really close." Oralee had quite a bit in common with him, he could see that now. The major defining difference was still the matter of Akiari and his own demon.

"I guess you don't get along with your demon, huh? Mind if I ask what's wrong?" Martin simply shrugged. He didn't really mind talking about his demon, not like it could hear him anyways with it being trapped in his reflection after all, or so he thought. "I don't mind. It's nothing really all too complex. He's just... Mean." He could find very few other ways to describe Advocate better. "He showed up not long before I left home myself. Ever since we met he's been nothing but mean to me.
He's cruel, his opinions about everyone else is horrid and no matter what I do he's always looked down at everything I do. Even if I've done something exactly the way he'd wanted it done he'll say something completely the opposite of what he believed before and make fun of me for it. It's like i've upset him somehow before but I can't figure out what so he's
taking it out on me." Martin didn't mean to talk at such length about his gripes about Advocate.
The frustrations his demon had caused him in the past have kind of made that particular topic somewhat sensitive for him.

"I apologize for rambling on like that. It's just been rough and he's not made it any easier. I think it's simplest to just say he and I do not get along." Martin summarized his relationship with Advocate. "I've talked quite a lot about myself though.
I'd like to hear more about you." He started to think about a topic to kick off his inquiry, an idea coming to mind relatively fast. "What are your thoughts on the school so far?" He asked, curious to hear what she thought about the school. He was interested in hearing what she had to say and contrasting it with his own experience, giving him a broader viewpoint to look at the whole club and mage counsel situation with.

The entire time Advocate had listened in to their little conversation of theirs, noting everything Martin had said about him. He did not judge him for what he said about him, that would be reserved for their next conversation. He chuckled, his voice like a phantasmal whisper barely audible above the sounds of the faint winds rustling across the tree tops. He was quiet enough and positioned right so that only Oralee and her demon could hear his almost nonexistent laughter. As he floated invisibly on past the three of them he made his hand just tangible enough to lightly brush across a few chairs on the back of Ikiari's neck before resuming it's evanescent existence, becoming as physical as the air surrounding them, his visage imperceptible to all as he drifted away with the wind, still remaining within earshot of them though. He so loved unnerving the witless fools that surrounded him and Martin. The Advocate was advocate to only one but that did not mean he couldn't have fun, especially if it was at Martin's expense.

"I don't mind. It's nothing really all too complex. He's just... Mean."

Akiari raised her eyebrows in surprise. She could not imagine the thought of a demon being horrid; but if the name was any hint...

"Even if I've done something exactly the way he'd wanted it done he'll say something completely the opposite of what he believed before and make fun of me for it. It's like I've upset him somehow before but I can't figure out what so he's
taking it out on me."

Oralee tried her best at a disbelieving stare. She never could pull it off, but if any time warranted a curious look, this was it. "I... Dear me, I can't believe it. My sorrows are with you." She ducked her eyes, embarrassed. You're not back home, you can't just do that, Ora.

"I've talked quite a lot about myself though. I'd like to hear more about you."

She looked at him, curious. Wanting to know about me. Perhaps he got knocked in the head? "Well... To be honest, it's all weird." She laughed. "I feel as if I really shouldn't be here. As if I'm the one who they invited, just to watch and see if I can hold up... I don't know, really, it just doesn't feel right. I believe I should be at home, where I belong, but here I stand." Oralee realized that she had already began to lose her focus, and blinked, looking up at Martin.

"And what do you think of it? Our teachers seem to enjoy it, our classmates seem to have their fun... At least I know I certainly don't." She scrunched her nose up in disgust.

Akiari shifted quickly into her phoenix form as a cold whisper brushed over her. The ice cream dropped to the ground - Oralee had not realized her demon had managed to get into the cooler, let alone know were it was - as the phoenix's feathers took their fiery glow. She chirped quietly, and took to the air, finding a need to stretch her wings if she could not find what startled her. I doubt that was only a gust of wind.

Bryce Zephyr

Bryce smiled as Robin told him that flying wasn't fair and he would be coming down. "Robin that is one of the first lesions you'll all have to learn a fight with a mage is rarely if ever fair." Shortly after the ice chain dissolved into mice that scurried around. After a moment ice chains shot towards Bryce from the mice. He couldn't help but be impressed. 'The chains are moving where it'd be very difficult to dodge all of them unless you did something silly like. Drop to the ground.' Bryce quickly dropped his height when he felt a burst of energy from the side. Expecting Robin to be there Bryce spun readying a blast of wind to knock him away he was welcomed by a blank view. Then suddenly Leo was bouncing around him on air platforms. As he moved to intercept the intrusion he felt something was off. Gravity seemed to be fighting him as he tried spinning his scythe. Suddenly something he thought impossible in the situation happened. He felt a pressure connect with his mid back. Leo was there with a look Bryce had never seen on his face before. A look that reminded him of. "Zach what are you doing interrupting my fight again!" Bryce focused a massive surge of energy into the blade of his scythe as he spun swinging the blade at what he saw as Zach. "Wind Force!" Bryce practically screamed as the flat of the blade connected with Leo's chest unleashing a whirlwind into his chest sending him flying at near supersonic speed towards the forest. A blast that would surely land him in the Old Forest where he'd grown up.

Bryce took a calming breath as he refocused to Robin. "Well now that that's taken care of we can get back to business." Bryce slung his scythe onto his back where it rested. Flying forward Bryce formed small tornadoes around his arms. He landed a short distance in front of Robin taking up a fighting stance taught to him by Aeyla. "Now we can really play." He smiled one of his devilish smiles before closing in towards the young mage as he formed a box of hardened air around the pair closing them in and cutting the mice/chains off from further assisting the battle.

Ceil Liadon

Ceil noted as his seeds dug down around the battlefield. 'They'll be ready soon... My best bet will be the snares try to trip Mrs.Zephyr up.' Directing his power into the ground he fed his magic to the seeds growing them into strong snares that would lay low over the top of the ground catching anyone that isn't him. As they grew he dashed over towards Lilly trying to direct her towards the growing snares as he grew his blade into a long whip. "Vine whip." He brought the whip swinging as fast as he could towards Lilly's mid section the hardest place for her to doge even though he doubted it'd have any chance of connecting.

"I... Dear me, I can't believe it. My sorrows are with you."

her sympathy was quite welcome. Her words were few but surprisingly effective. Not because of the words themselves but the situation in which they were called for. Martin had no one to share his problems with, no one to talk to about the burdens he is plagued by. Sharing his woes about his demon to someone else was of great relief, even if he didn't really know it. The fact she listened and honestly cared warmed his heart.

She gave him a weird look when he had asked to learn more about her. Was there something unusual about what I asked?
He wondered. "Well... To be honest, it's all weird." She laughed, sounding a little unnatural considering there was little humor in what she said, unless perhaps what she was about to say would tie it all up and make sense of it. "I feel as if
I really shouldn't be here. As if I'm the one who they invited, just to watch and see if I can hold up... I don't know, really, it just doesn't feel right. I believe I should be at home, where I belong, but here I stand."

That was somewhat funny to Martin, though the laughter on Oralee's part still seemed a bit off. That was almost exactly how he felt about being here. Seeing the capabilities of even the other students around him made his already glaring overall weakness all the more clear. These people were training to become warriors of magic, Martin couldn't even heal someone without potentially incurring severe damage. His real ability was to help others by healing people who need their health more than he does. What could I possibly offer to these people which they do not already have? He often asked himself from time to time during his enrollment into the Magical Arts Club.

"I know how you feel. Let me let you know though, if I have any chance at all of succeeding here, you'll hold up very well."
He reassured her, wondering if she could even hear him as she seemed to be trailing off into her own mind.

"And what do you think of it? Our teachers seem to enjoy it, our classmates seem to have their fun... At least I know I certainly don't." She asked, looking straight up at him as though snapping back into reality.

"To be honest? I'm not looking forward to it. I've got the effective jogging pace of a koala and I've never thrown a punch in my life. I've been punched before plenty but I've never even thought about hurting anyone before. I'm not sure I could." His voice was exceptionally low as he leaned in close, making sure the rest of what he had to say was privy to Oralee and himself alone. He really didn't want the other students or worse, the teacher, to hear.

"I actually didn't want to challenge the teacher in the first place. I just happened to have my hand up at the wrong time
as usual." With that said he leaned back, his volume returning to it's normal semi-quiet self. "It's just as you said now though.
But here I stand." He quoted Oralee's earlier statement, reusing the phrase to convey a nearly identical meaning, only applied to his circumstance instead of hers.

It just so happened the position he was standing in relative to his facing towards Oralee gave him a distant view of the edge of the schools roof top. He could just barely make out a figure above the foliage. Is that guy flying over the roof? He wondered, squinting as he tried to distinguish the faint details better. At this point it looked clearer that the figure was falling, not flying. "Hey, that guy over there just fell off the roof." Martin mentioned out loud. His thoughts sometimes came out of his mouth whenever he didn't pay enough attention to himself. I wonder if that guys gonna be okay? He wondered, continuing to watch the figure descend into the forest which they were currently all in.

Leo was, presently, unsure of where he was. He was no longer above the school, and he was most certainly no longer on the grounds themselves, and yet, part of him knew this place. Leo was sitting up, his back against a large boulder, taking in a gorgeous view of an old, dense forest. Though he appeared to be sitting in the middle of a clearing, the forest itself was more than just impressive. It was magnificent. Ancient trees, thicker than school buses, reached their twisted, thick limbs to the sky, as if to grab the very sun in their hand-like branches. Thick, roiling brambles, covered the ground like a rolling sea, deep and dark, yet full of a wild energy. Wildflowers grew, here and there, spread out over the whole of the clearing, they weren't very numerous by any means, but what few there were, were strong and vibrant, shedding brilliant warm colored light from their massive petals. Leo sighed with appreciation. It was beautiful. As amazing as this vista was, where was it? How did Leo get here? Slowly, and lethargically, his brain began to work, as if Leo had never asked it to remember anything for him before. Leo rubbed his head. There was a painful lump on the back of his noggin. It smarted when he touched it.

Starting from the beginning. Leo recounted all he knew about his situation. Leo had been up on the rooftop. He'd accidentally volunteered to fight with his Uncle Bryce, and had followed the others to the roof. That explained why Leo wanted to be back up on the roof, but try as he might he couldn't recall why. Was it to finish his fight? No, he'd technically already won the little contest. Was it to brag? No, that would be rude and stupid. Then why? Leo gave up thinking about it, his chest hurt. He couldn't quite sit up, and breathing was becoming difficult, he rubbed his sides, gingerly feeling his bruised ribs. Nothing was broken, so far so good. Slowly, Leo took a deep breath, and started again. He was fighting his Uncle Bryce... no. Leo had been... watching. Someone else was fighting Bryce... But then why did Bryce hit him? Wait... Uncle Bryce hit him? Auntie Lilly must be worried sick, no doubt she was looking for him even know, but why? What had Leo done to deserve being hit? And that still didn't explain why he was in the forest. Leo tried again, piecing it all together at an agonizing slow rate. He had been watching one of his classmates fight his Uncle, it was Robin, the Ice Mage. Robin was actually doing rather well, but that wasn't the point... Leo was planning something sneaky. He'd used Robin's battle as a distraction. That was it! He'd waited until Uncle Bryce wouldn't be able to counter him, but he did. Leo had hit his Uncle, and his Uncle had hit him back. That much was certain, but his Uncle had become enraged after Leo hit him, blasting him much too harshly for a simple student. Was it because Leo had hit him? Or maybe it wasn't something else... Bryce had called him... "Zac..." Leo whispered aloud, barely enough to hear himself say it. "Uncle Bryce called me my father's name... why?" Leo asked aloud, to no one in particular. That's when it happened. Someone answered him.

"My guess? I'm assuming it's because you're my kid, eh? I mean, wimpy aura and sad little frown aside, we're actually pretty similar" said a voice, it came from above Leo, as if the owner of the voice were sitting on the rock Leo was resting against. "After all, we were best friends, Bryce and I. Our battles were the stuff of legend. My guess is, your magic felt a little like mine, and it made him remember. After all, it's been quite a while." Slowly, carefully, Leo stood. He turned around to face the voice sitting on that rock in the middle of the clearing.

He was a younger man. Not older than 40, but definitely still young enough to be right around his Uncle Bryce's age. His hair was yellow, a fantastic gold that shimmered in the dappled daylight of the forest. It stuck up in the back. Leo had the same cowlick. As Leo studied the man's face, it was as if he were staring into one of those odd circus mirrors. Though Leo saw his own face, he couldn't help but notice how sharp and lean the man before him was. His muscles were strong and dense, just like Leo's, but more developed. Leo had the man's strong chin, and large eyes. He also had the man's wide shoulders and, most importantly, Leo's magical signature was almost a complete match to the man in front of him. Were Leo not a red head, there wouldn't have been much of a difference at all. Leo unconsciously ran his hand through his hair. The man smirked at Leo, confirming his suspicion. He smirked at Leo. "You got your mum's hair, not mine. If you were blonde we'd be one in the same."

Something about that last comment made Leo frown. He took a step backwards from the man on the rock. "No." Leo said. He said it firmly. "There's no way. You've been gone... You were... You never once came to see me, not for thirteen years, and this is how we meet? You were never a part of my life, not for one second. Annie was my parent more than you ever were." Leo said, starting to get louder. "Do you think, that just because I'm at your old school you can come and pretend to be my dad?" Leo asked, furiously shouting at the man before him, who sat calmly the whole while. "I hate you! You left me, you abandoned me for what? Did you and my mom even love me? Why even have me if you weren't going to-" Leo was cut off. The man had stood from his spot, deftly strode over to Leo, and slapped him across the face. "You watch your mouth." The man said, his voice was stern, his expression emotionless. "Your mother and I loved you more than anything. We wanted nothing more than to raise you, our son, together, in a world where you wouldn't have to be like this. You wouldn't have to fight everyday just to survive. We pledged it to ourselves, and I'll be damned before I let some smart mouthed little punk insult that resolve without any response from me." Leo was speechless. He just stared at the ground, eyes burning holes in the dirt. "The only reason you're still alive right now is my doing." The man said simply. "The move Bryce hit you with could have killed a dragon. Maybe not a fully grown one, but it still should have destroyed you instantly. That's where I come in. My blood runs in your veins, magic permeates your very core, and on top of that, you've got my aptitude for fighting. Think real hard. You remember what you did." he said. So Leo did think. He forgot all his hatred for a moment and thought. He tried to remember as hard as he could what, exactly, had happened. He remembered that he punched his Uncle Bryce. After that, Bryce had slapped him with the flat of his scythe, but Leo... did something. His arms came up to protect his chest, he instinctively hardened the air between himself and Bryce, preventing the blow from outright killing him. However, that alone wouldn't have kept Leo from outright dying. Leo remembered feeling a surge of energy, his body hardened like steel, and a second barrier went up between himself an Bryce, one that Leo didn't make.

Puzzled, Leo look at the man on the boulder, his head tilted sideways. "It was me. I protected you with a barrier made out of my own energy. Sturdy enough to contain a volcanic eruption, but Bryce just blew right through it. However, just because the first his didn't kill you, it didn't mean I could relax yet. The second hit, your impact with the earth, should have killed you. So, I slowed you down. I used simple areokinesis to slow your descent and then I softened the Earth you actually landed on. Just cause I haven't been around doesn't mean I don't care for ya..." He explained to Leo. While Leo appreciated that he'd saved him, he still couldn't find it in himself to forgive the man. "This changes nothing between us." Leo said coldly. "You can't expect that a single act of parental responsibility will assuage my anger. You can't expect that it will just magically make up for all the time you missed." The man shook his head. "I never expected it to, but I can't be a part of your life if you don't want me to." Leo took a step back, then turned to face away from the man. "Damn straight. Leave me alone." Leo took a step forward, then another, and another. Leo walked away from Zac. "You can't just walk away from me! Just because you're a little mad at me doesn't mean you can hide from your father and bury your responsibilities under your hatred!" Leo turned, shouting at his father. "Watch me!"

"To be honest? I'm not looking forward to it. I've got the effective jogging pace of a koala and I've never thrown a punch in my life. I've been punched before plenty but I've never even thought about hurting anyone before. I'm not sure I could."

Oralee could not help herself, and giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. She had heard about koalas, but never seen one; Martin using the comparison seemed weird for her, and cheerful in a greater sense. She had to agree, though; she had taken more than her fair share of hits, and given out only a few. I guess that still means I have more experience than him..

"I actually didn't want to challenge the teacher in the first place. I just happened to have my hand up at the wrong time

She frowned. He had challenged the teacher? "Wha-"

"Hey, that guy over there just fell off the roof."

Oralee spun on the the ball of her foot, to be facing the rooftop of the school. Indeed, there was someone falling; Akiari chirped quietly. Unconsciously, the snowflakes started to glimmer around Oralee. "Gods... Is there anything we can do? We have to try, we have to do something!" She looked to Martin, frowning. "Maybe the teacher won't notice, if we go over there... I don't know about you, but I'm at least going to try."

"Oralee, you are certain to find yourself at home when a...'field trip' comes around."

"Akiari, shut up!" she hissed. "It's one of my few chances to do something right. I want to try, please..."

"Gods... Is there anything we can do? We have to try, we have to do something!"

We, yes, we. Martin knew exactly what this entailed. He was directly involved now whether he liked it or not. Not that he didn't want to help. He knew if he was going to be of any help to anyone today, this would be it. He was worried about leaving to go check it out though. With the teacher's black butler watching over them while she and the plant mage dueled they might cause a disturbance which would be rectified by the mysterious looking demon.

He was not looking forward to being beaten up, either physically or verbally. If he went with Oralee then the teachers would most likely scold him and punish him in some way too. If he stayed however he was looking at being the callous teacher's punching bag for some time. Either which way he looked at it, it didn't make a difference. He figured he might as well help the falling mage out, then at least someone will have had a better day than him.

His day wasn't all too bad though. He learned quite a bit about the supernatural world and met Oralee, a nice light mage like himself. He almost wondered if this kind of background she and he shared was common to most light mages or if this coincidence was exactly that, a coincidence.

"Maybe the teacher won't notice, if we go over there... I don't know about you, but I'm at least going to try."

Martin looked back at the duel. Considering how much setup the plant mage was requiring to effectively establish his spell list's synergies the duel could last a while. He estimated that the fight would probably not reach a conclusion before they returned if all went accordingly.

"Oralee, you are certain to find yourself at home when a...'field trip' comes around."

"Akiari, shut up!" She and her demon quarreled.
"It's one of my few chances to do something right. I want to try, please..."

By this point motes of light were drifting about her. Martin stepped forward, easing his weight onto his crutch while moving directly in front of Oralee. He reached past the wisps of light and, rightful permission or not, lightly placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright. Let's go see if he or she needs our help." His deep dark blue eyes met her ocean blue eyes. His tone was reassuring and his mouth was a friendly yet determined smile. Removing his hand from her shoulder he turned to the direction the mage was falling and proceeded to slowly limp his way towards the mage's landing site.

He figured if there were any consequences for what they were doing, he alone would accept the blame. After all, he was the one who was meant to be standing in line to duel the teacher, she was simply a spectator. Worse comes to worse he would make sure Oralee would come to no punishment, even at his own expense.

All the while his demon watched, never missing a moment of this. Every decision made by Martin would form the basis for his argument later, this instance was no exception.

♠Lilly Zephyr♠

Lilly had noticed that Leo's power had been increasing, so she eyed him, curious as to what little Leo was doing. Then the worst possible things happened. Leo actually landed a punch on Bryce! But Bryce was quick to respond with a counter, sending their nephew far off into the forest, near where her battle's were taking place.

"Bryce you idiot," she said more to herself than anything as she flew off, following the scent of Leo. It didn't take long for her to find him, along with a blonde haired male sitting on Bryce's boulder. Leo looked fine, thank the Gods, but how? With the force of that hit, it was almost like Bryce was hitting ... Zac. Lilly dropped in front of Leo who was storming away from the man on the rock. "Are you alright Leo?" Her wings dissipated and for once, Lilly looked concerned. Bryce could have killed Leo, their family.

Wait till Annie hears about this... Lilly shuddered at the thought of angry Annie.

"I'll kick your uncles ass for this later, alright? Do you want to stay with my group for now or do you want to go to the infirmary?" Lilly sighed, letting her head hang as she kneeled down. "That was to close ... Bryce is going to die."

No matter how much Lilly wanted to confront the man on the rock, she couldn't. From far away, she wasn't sure if it was Zac. They had nearly identical scents, their aura was the same but stronger ... but it had been so long. Last time she remembered seeing Zac was 13 years ago. She didn't even remember if she had run into him since then.

All she knew was that her nephew was upset, so he was priority.

THE BATTLE IN THE CLEARING

Lilly, or the one that was battling anyways, smirked at the boy. What he was planning? She had no idea and didn't care enough to try and figure it out. The seeds weren't much of a distraction, but the vine swinging right at her was. It was aiming for her midsection, a harder place to dodge. If it made contact, it would go right through her, so she should make it look like it went through on purpose.

With that thought, she covered her body in the paralyzing Shadow Fire that could kill anything it touched if not controlled right. The vine passed right through her, no problem. Then she felt the real Lilly's presence enter the forest, a ping of worry hit her. Not that it was her fault if it was discovered she was a Shadow Clone, but it would ruin the surprise. The Clone looked over at the demon OZ, who shrugged his shoulder lightly and signaled for her to continue on.

The Clone 'popped a squat' on the ground creating the illusion of entering her Shadow State by turning her eyes completely black and chanting odd poems in Latin. Shadows emerged from everywhere, joining together in front of her to create an 8 foot tall mass of shadows, writhing about as they waited for a command from the higher ranked Shadow Clone sitting behind them.

"It's alright. Let's go see if he or she needs our help."

Oralee gave a faint smile. "Let us hope that we don't get in trouble..."

If we do, I won't let him take anything. It's kind of my fault, I guess - I don't know if he would actually have done anything on his own, but I want to. Besides, I wouldn't let anyone take shit anyways, if I'm there... Even if it was their fault. I just... can't.

She started following Martin, watching Akiari jump into the sky and fly ahead. A few of the phoenix's feathers started to fall to the ground, scattering to ash before they hit the dirt. Oralee sighed sadly. She's dying. Great. Well, I guess I did need more ash for my hair...

Her focus slipped back to where she was walking, and she finally noticed that Martin was suffering from a limp. She gave an odd look, but took no more notice of it. If anything, she was barely bothered by it; who was she to judge? She had been cast out of her family for...various reasons, but that was only how she was born. Everyone's different, and I feel we forget that all too much.

"I wonder if we'll get there, before a teacher does." She did not mean to speak out loud, but once she did, she simply looked the other way. "I mean, I guess I don't want to get in trouble, that's all-"

Auntie Lilly dropped in front of Leo who was in the process of storming away from the man on the rock. "Are you alright Leo? I'll kick your uncles ass for this later, alright? Do you want to stay with my group for now or do you want to go to the infirmary? That was too close ... Bryce is going to die." As she spoke, Leo's aunt kneeled down so as to look up into his face. She was so... sad. She seemed terrified of the thought of losing him. Anger momentarily forgotten, Leo held out his hand. "Stand up Auntie Lilly, there's no reason to be so upset. I'm alive, and we're heading back to your part of the forest. Walking all the way to the infirmary seems like a hassle, and I'm ok. So why don't we just go over to where, I'm assuming a shadow clone, is having your duels." Leo smiled as he spoke, trying to cheer up his Auntie. When she stood up, Leo stepped in and hugged her for a moment. "Thanks for coming to get me Auntie Lilly." Leo said simply, looking up to smile at her. At that he turned to leave.

However, it appeared the man on the rock had other plans for Leo. He dug around in, what appeared to be a backpack of some sorts, and pulled out a package, bound in leather. Taking aim, he hurled this package at Leo, who, after a moment, caught it with the back of his head. Furious, Leo stood up, and turned towards his father, storming back towards him. "What the hell!" Leo exclaimed, grabbing his father by the collar of his shirt. "You don't just throw heavy shit like that at people! Someone could get hurt, you dumbass!" Leo shouted in his father's face. Zac could only sit, wordless, and listen. The fiery temper, the blazing red hair, all of it was just like Leo's mother. Zac smiled. "Easy now son, that's a gift for you. They're from your mom. After watching your fight with Bryce, I thought now would be the time to give them to you. After all, your hand strikes were pretty pathetic so maybe these will help you lack a punch, huh?" Zac laughed at his own bad joke, Leo only groaned. Zac continued. "I figured you'd be able to sense it coming, but maybe I was wrong. Regardless, you better watch that temper of yours, it'll get you into a real pickle someday. Anyhow, I gotta get out of here, I don't wanna be here when Lilly or Bryce sends word to Annie that I was here, or worse yet that Bryce actually hit you. She might actually kill us both..." Zac shuddered at the thought. There weren't a lot of things that scared the A Class Mage, but an ill-tempered Annie was certainly one of them. "Toodles son, maybe I'll see ya around." At that, Zac's aura began to surge. So powerful was the magic around him, that it threw Leo away from Zac, landing on his butt some three feet away from his father. "Now wait a minute! You can't just leave!" Leo shouted above the roar of Zac's powerful aura taking shape. "Who was my mother? Why won't anyone tell me?" Leo shouted. If Zac heard him, he didn't show it, only smirking at his son, before vanishing in a flash of white light. When the light faded, Zac was gone. "No... No, NO!" Leo shouted, running up to the rock his father had sat on. "Come back here! I still don't know anything! You can't just leave!"

Furious, and beyond consoling, Leo's own power began to surge, however, unlike his father before him, Leo's power wasn't concentrated on anything, it was just building for no reason other than that Leo was furious. So great was Leo's anger, that gravity began to distort around him. So powerful were these fluctuations, that the earth began to crack, large sections of rock were torn from the ground, and hurled in random directions. Bryce's boulder was hefted from the ground, and hurled some sixty feet away into a tree. Even the sunlight near Leo wasn't above his rage. The powerful fluctuations in gravity distorted the light, shattering the waves and separating them into different colors. The power continued to build until Leo could contain it no more. All at once, with a roar of rage, Leo released the power. When the energy dispersed, it did the only thing Leo knew how to do, mess with gravity. So, within a thirty foot radius of himself, gravity became massively increased, just for a second. Within that moment, as if a massive fist had struck the ground where Leo was standing, a massive crater came into being, some thirty feet deep affecting everything but Leo. Spent, Leo collapsed in the center of the crater, exhausted. As he lay there, the package that Zac had thrown at him, which lay just outside the radius of his fury, fell off the ledge and rolled down to where Leo was. As it fell, the leather that bound it became undone, and two shiny steel gauntlets came to rest at Leo's side. They were crimson and silver. Inside the left gauntlet was a little paper note, which read, "For you, my darling son. Hopefully these will protect you from a world which is far more dangerous than I hope you will ever have to know. Be safe, my precious boy, and know that you are loved. ~Mom"
