Description

Name: Lilly Vatalini Bedford

"I am the Lord of Shadows ..."

Image

Age: 15
Gender: Female

Image

Description: Lilly has long, blood red hair that she usually keeps in a messy ponytail. Her bangs are cut jagged and are always hanging in her face. Lilly also has piercing red eyes, almost look like that of a demon; her eyes turn cat-like when she is angry. Her small, delicate figure makes her look younger than she truly is. She doesn't go out much, so her skin is rather pale. The only thing somewhat large about her is her chest area. She prefers wearing shorts and skirts, along with tank tops and her favorite pair of combat boots. Everything she owns is black, the only color she feels comfortable in. Though small, she definitely packs a punch.

Image

Personality: Lilly, who prefers Vatalini, is generally the same as any other shadow mage. She likes to take night classes, hates being in the light and sleeps a lot. She is overall a smarty pants and loves to prove others wrong. But it doesn’t take a lot to get her in a bad mood. She absolutely loves to pick fights, and can hold her own, but her cockiness comes back at her most the time. If you become a close friend to her, she loves to pull pranks, even life threatening ones. This is the reason she doesn’t have many friends.

Image

Powers:
- Main Power Area: Shadow
† Shadow Puppet: Can manipulate shadows from up to 75 feet away.

† Shadow Fire: Creates a fire out of shadows that can pass through anything, sending a shock through the object it is passing through.

† Dark Wing: The ability to create wings out of shadow that act as real wings, giving the ability to fly fast but for only short periods of time.

† Summoner: Summons shadows for the Underworld, more powerful than normal shadows. Usually in the form of demons, such as beautiful men, women, and creatures.

† Shadow Clone: Creates a clone of the caster, made entirely of shadows. Being made of shadows, they can move and think on their own accord, but must obey their creator.

- Special Move:

† Shadow Lord: Creates a giant shadow puppet that engulfs the creator, moving as they do, with the ability to use all elements. Cannot be taken down unless hit with an enormous amount of light or the creator is killed. Other than that, the creator can stop it by will unless not properly trained, and then there is the possibility of them being over thrown by the shadows.

-Secondary Area: Fire

† Flame Sword: Creates flames that spin rapidly around the weapon of the creators choice.

History: Lilly was abandoned when she was a baby, and left to the shadows. Literally. She would be abnormally advanced for her age as a shadow mage, but her cockiness always got in the way of her training. She was set to school by her shadow so she could learn better control. As a young girl, and for the rest of her life, Lilly was raised be shadows, which wasn’t abnormal anymore. Anyone who has known her since she started elementary school knows what type of person she is.

Anything Else:
- Is currently in a relationship with Bryce Zephyr.

- Receives private magic lessons from the teacher, Mr. Beckenfield .

THE DEMON

Name: OZ

Image

Personality: OZ only speaks to Lilly and her closest friends, and always has an apathetic look on his face. He never pays attention to anyone and always has his face stuck in a spell book. In reality, OZ is Lilly’s shadow, just in a different form. He can also create different forms, but they are all scary shadow people. He changes into the forms at the will of his Master. He is very respectful, calling Lilly Master all the time, but once he changes form, his shadow insanity is revealed. All shadows are considered insane unless in their ’human’ form.

Lilly

“Ah!” Lilly danced into the room, OZ slinking in behind her, his face stuck in a book. “This is perfect OZ! No windows and plenty of shadow! Let’s go find a dark corner to plan evil things in,” Lilly snickered as she looked back at her preoccupied demon. She ripped the book out of his hands and glared at him. “It’s annoying when you read while I’m speaking! Do you know any manners whatsoever?” OZ looked at her with the same apathetic eyes he had in this form.

“I’m sorry Master. That book has a lot of good tips in it though.”

“Are you telling me we came to this useless place when you could have told me the same things I’ve been learning for years?” Lilly put her hand on her hip while holding the book up to her face.

“Um, no Master. Coming here was the best choice. You’ll have more experience than you would at home,” he said, watching all the other students and demons wondering in.
“I bet you anything that Jeremiah and Kari wanted me out of there. I mean, I AM too much for anyone to handle. That’s why I can’t wait till I can live on my own and make plans to take over the world,” Lilly said nonchalantly as she choose a seat in the furthest corner of the room where it was nice and dark. She observed the desk which had writing all over it … obviously over used. “I demand a new desk. OZ I need a new desk.”

“Master, this is better than most the desks you’ve previously sat in. Why complain now?”

“Actually, I did it silently out of respect for you, but I can’t stand it any longer.” Lilly sat on the front of the desk and smiled evilly as the last few students wandered in. “Look OZ. None of these children know how to do anything right. If it wasn’t for you, I would have been fashionably late. But NO, you have to make sure I get to on time. Who is on time anymore? Obviously these losers.”

“Are you trying to get in another fight Master?”

“No, OZ, I’m not trying to get in a fight. Are you accusing me again?”

“No Master.”

“That’s what I thought.”

“Class should be starting soon, so you may as well stay quiet now. Please?”

“Fine fine, whatever.” He was right too. The class quieted down as the supposed teacher and his arrogant looking demon walked in.

Zachary rushed down the corner, his little demon Pitt lounging on top of his head. Zac was going to be late for his special class the one that no one knew about. He told his friends he was going to club and he told his club he wouldn't be able to make it today. Zac's hair was rather comfortable today. He hadn't worn that stupid fencing helmet so it wasn't matted, it was all nice and fluffy. It was perfect. Pitt was so glad that this was her spot and not some other dumb demon's spot, they wouldn't love it as much as she did. She loved the way it smelled like him. The softness, the perfect golden color, it was all just right. Yup, this was definitely the best spot ever. No question about it. Except that it was bumping. Jostling really. This simply wouldn't do. With the comfy-ness of her spot in question, Pitt became just a little grumpy. So, she flopped over and banged Zac on his head, causing him to almost fall over and plow through three girls at their lockers. Luckily, he corrected himself and managed to swerve out of their path and down another hallway. An improvised shortcut.

"Damnit Pitt! What'd you do that for?" Zac swore, rubbing the soft spot on the side of his head. Still running down the hallway.

"Surprise surprise, you're gonna be late again Zac-o... Say, why do we even go to this dumb ol' school anyway?" Pitt lazily mocked.

"This is all your fault Pitt. If you hadn't flung all my pencils out of the window I wouldn't have had to run all the way back to my locker to get a spare would I? I wanted to be on time Pitt. Doesn't that mean anything to you?" Zac explained, completely exasperated. First she'd eaten his breakfast, then she scribbled on his homework, finally, she'd thrown his pencils out of the window and had caused their current predicament.

"You're bumpy. Knock it off. You're disturbing the comfy-ness of my spot. You know I hate that." She murmured, apparently about to sleep again.

"I'm done with you for now. It's class time, go bug your teacher now." Zac sighed. "Learn how to be helpful for a change."

She floated down lazily from her spot on his head and landed on his shoulder, still sprawled and sleeping. "No can do Zach-y, I enjoy bothering you. You're way more fun than some dumb lesson." Zach meandered over to his desk. He sat almost at the front of the class in the left corner of the room next to the far wall opposite the door. As he walked he heard someone talking in the back.

Look OZ. None of these children know how to do anything right. If it wasn’t for you, I would have been fashionably late. But NO, you have to make sure I get to on time. Who is on time anymore? Obviously these losers.” said a very pompous girl sitting in the back.

"Why you..." Zach muttered under his breath. That girl was asking for a beating. Zach didn't pursue it, he didn't fight girls, even if they were keepers. Wasn't right. Even if they were that nasty.

Are you trying to get in another fight Master?” Her demon said without a single trace of apathy. He was either very bored, or very used to his master's attitude. She was a real peace of work.

No, OZ, I’m not trying to get in a fight. Are you accusing me again?

No Master.

That’s what I thought.

Class should be starting soon, so you may as well stay quiet now. Please?” At that moment, the teacher and his demon walked in and the class naturally quieted down.

Fine fine, whatever.” she muttered.

" 'Bout time" Zach whispered to himself. That girl was a real pain. At that, the Teacher started his lesson.

Robert

Robert strolled into the room, Kira following closely behind. He could feel her entire being tense up, seeing as she absolutely hated kids. “Don’t worry, Kira,” he said as he reassuringly pat her on the head. Robert, being an ice mage, never got cold. So he wore a button down shirt, which was buttoned up to the third button and the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of slacks which seemed a little too big in the leg. His hair was up in a ponytail with what little didn’t tie back framing his face. He was happy to see so many students in the in his class. Once he made it to the front of the classroom, he turned to face the class, looking over the poor children that would have to put up with him this year. But Kira took over for a little, so he just sat down and watched.

“All of you sit down,” Kira yelled, leaping on top of Robert’s desk. She was a beautiful demon, about the same size as a panther. “Now, I will not have any chit chat or note passing. You maybe children, but you are to act mature in my…,” she started.

“You mean my class,” Robert said in a heavy British accent.

“Yes, yes, you are right. To the point, if I am informed by Robert of any misbehavior, I will be quick to act. You will take notes and they will be checked after each class. If you have not done them, a proper punishment will be provided. If you go against any of the school rules, then you will be punished. Now, the Keeper’s will stay in here, and all the demon’s follow me into the hidden class next door.” Kira walked off the desk and through a specific spot on the wall, the Keeper’s demons following close behind.
Once she was out of hearing range, Robert looked at the class with a big smile. “Sorry about that class. As you can tell, Kira isn’t really friendly towards children. You don’t have to take notes, but it would probably be best if you did. And if you have broken any school rules within 24 hours of an assignment, then you will be ineligible to go with us whether it be down the street or across the globe.” He stood and wrote ‘Demons, Magic & Spells’ in large print on the black board. “Who knows anything about these words at all?”

Lilly

Lilly glared up at the giant cat that was prancing around like she owned the place. “Yes, yes, you are right. To the point, if I am informed by Robert of any misbehavior, I will be quick to act. You will take notes and they will be checked after each class. If you have not done them, a proper punishment will be provided. If you go against any of the school rules, then you will be punished. Now, the Keeper’s will stay in here, and all the demon’s follow me into the hidden class next door.” OZ stood and followed the teacher’s demon to the wall, but stopped quickly by the teacher. “I apologize for my Master’s behavior in advance,” he whispered to the teacher. He then continued through the wall with the other demons and sat on the floor, awaiting further instruction.

“Stupid cat,” Lilly said under her breath.

“Who knows anything about these words at all,” the teacher said after writing ‘Demons, Magic & Spells’ up on the board.

“If you don’t than you shouldn’t be in here. I mean, come on. We all should have had our demons for at least a year or two now. If someone is in here and knows nothing of those things, then they are completely stupid or in the wrong class room.” Though she was in a skirt, she still leaned back in her chair and kicked her feet up onto her desk. “Of course if a human was in here, I’d be completely willing to kill them. Because I was told that any humans that shouldn’t know about us are murdered.”

"Well doesn't that seem rather bothersome." Pitt began, "Alright, I'm gone. Save me my spot Zac! Don't let anyone else take it. I WUBS YOU!!!" She finished, screaming and carrying on just because she knew it would bug him. And it did, he blushed bright scarlet. The two of them were very close. They loved each other like a pair of siblings would. However, they also got along like siblings. Kicking and screaming the whole way. Sure they picked on each other, but only because they really and truly loved one another and respected them. Of course, however, that didn't mean Pitt gave up a chance to tease Zach. He always had the greatest reactions. As she flew through the door, she waved the tiniest little backward glance at him and smiled.

"Actually pay attention Pitt!" he called after her. "Just because I'm not there doesn't mean you can slack off! You stupid...." he finished this particular sentiment muttering things under his breath. Why did she always do that? She always knew just how to get under his skin and make him crazy. Shaking off his embarrassment, Zac looked up at the board. He'd already pulled out his notebook and last remaining pencil and started taking notes.

"Who knows anything about these words at all?" The teacher asked. Motioning to the board which contained the words "Demons, Magic, & Spells." Of course Zachary knew that Keepers were bestowed with fantastic magical powers. They usually began to surface in the teenage years and were finally mastered by adulthood. Each Keeper had a demon as a companion for support, magical aid, and general company. Further, all Keepers had a domain area. They all had a specific branch of magic that they excelled in and could preform very large and powerful magics in. Zachary knew he was an Earth type. Specifically, he dealt with the transmutation of Earth into metal and the manipulation of metals. This worked very well for Zac because he loved to fence. What were swords made out of? Steel. It was great. Zac had just finished jotting down some cursory knowledge of demons, magic, and spells and was just about to raise his hand to tell the professor, who was obviously looking for a student to answer. At that, the rude girl in the back spoke up.

"If you don’t than you shouldn’t be in here. I mean, come on. We all should have had our demons for at least a year or two now. If someone is in here and knows nothing of those things, then they are completely stupid or in the wrong class room. Of course if a human was in here, I’d be completely willing to kill them. Because I was told that any humans that shouldn’t know about us are murdered.

"Hey!" Zach called out to her. "You can't just go killing people! Sure humans aren't allowed here, but there are obviously structures in place to prevent these kind of things, aren't there professor?"

Robert

Robert sighed and looked at the girl in the back. “I see what your demon meant,” he muttered to himself. He nodded to the young man in the front and smiled. “We actually have a special mind erasing technique that is used in those cases. I understand that you must be a shadow mage then, Miss…,” he said while looking down at the roster. “Miss Bedford. Or would you rather Lilly? Is it not true that shadow mages are sent to dispose of humans causing problems in our world? Well, I know it’s true. It’s your nature. But there will be no murder of humans in my class. Sorry to disappoint you. Now.” Robert clapped his hands together. “I used to know shadow mage, and I learned that it is best to just ignore them. Now we shall proceed with class. Anyone know the main duties of a Keeper and what some things you should learn in this class are?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kira let out a sigh and smiled at the demons. “Hello class. I’m sorry that you had to see me like that. I have nothing against you or your Keepers’, I’m just not too fond of those teenagers. Now, I know you all have taken the oath to protect you Keepers’ at all costs. But it may seem hard at times because your personalities can clash. I have never met a demon and Keeper that were exactly the same. I’m also here if anyone needs a break or someone merely to talk to. To kick of class, we will go around and have each demon introduce themselves and their Keepers’ and also inform us of their Keepers’ powers.”
"We actually have a special mind erasing technique that is used in those cases. I understand that you must be a shadow mage then, Miss…,” he said while looking down at the roster. Zac almost gasped. Shadow Mages were the dark assassins of the world of Keepers. They were often mean and pugnacious. They had to be, they were sent to deal with the nastiest of problems. Zac made a mental not to leave her well enough alone. Unless she wanted to be friendly with him. In which case, he supposed he could be ok with... what was her name? “Miss Bedford." Ahh, that's the one. Zac thought to himself. "Or would you rather Lilly? Is it not true that shadow mages are sent to dispose of humans causing problems in our world? Well, I know it’s true. It’s your nature. But there will be no murder of humans in my class. Sorry to disappoint you. Now.” The teacher clapped his hands together. “I used to know a shadow mage, and I learned that it is best to just ignore them. Now we shall proceed with class. Anyone know the main duties of a Keeper and what some things you should learn in this class are?"
Zach raised his hand. When he was called on, he spoke clearly and consicely, just as any good student would. He wasn't trying to be snobbish in his knowledge, his was merely moving the lesson along. "The duty of a keeper is to protect the natural balance in the world between the side with humans, and the magical side. That is why a keeper looks like a human. To be disguised on this side. It is also why a keeper is so powerful, to settle disputes and defend order on the other side."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pitt floated lazily over to her desk and flopped into it. She heard the professor talking and listened intently. She figured she had to. Dumb Zac, yelling at her in front of everyone. It wasn't her fault she loved him so much. The teacher's demon... demon teacher... whatever, started talking. Pitt dragged her head off of her desk and paid attention regardless.

"Hello class. I’m sorry that you had to see me like that. I have nothing against you or your Keepers’, I’m just not too fond of those teenagers. Now, I know you all have taken the oath to protect you Keepers’ at all costs. But it may seem hard at times because your personalities can clash. To kick of class, we will go around and have each demon introduce themselves and their Keepers’ and also inform us of their Keepers’ powers."

That made no sense to Pitt. Didn't Zac love her too? She knew she loved him. They were family. He promised...

"That can't be right!" Pitt spoke up, her little cheeks blushing. "Zac loves me, he said so. Further, Zac has the bestest poofiest hair ever and it's my spot, none of you can have it. So there. Also, I guess I'm Pitt and I'm Zac's partner. He's an Earth mage. He's really good at swordfighting... and cooking... and studying... he's good at lot's of stuff. I love him!" She smiled as she hazily finished her thoughts. She wasn't really focused on anyone in particular, mostly just Zac back in the other room.

“I prefer Vatalini, Mr. Sir.” Lilly ignored the comment about everyone ignoring her. She was used to it. “I guarantee you that I am the only shadow mage in here, which makes me more … epic I guess. Is anyone in here a shadow mage?” Lilly raised her hand and looked around the room. No one else had, so she just laughed. “I thought so! Anyways, get on with the lesson so I don’t get nagged on later. I mean, I’ll only really pay attention when I feel like it.” There was a shy looking girl sitting in front of Lilly, so she decided to have a little fun. “A little hard to ignore me now, isn’t it,” she said, taking her feet off her desk so she could lean in and whisper in the girl’s ear. “You look like you’re scared of the dark. Want me to confirm what goes bump in the night?” The girl was shaking with fear, or at least that’s what it looked like from behind. Then she remembered the blonde kid in front who said something. “Oh yeah, by the way blondie. If you heard the man correct, I was a born killer, so don’t go questioning me and my morals, got that punk?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a few demons went, it was OZ’s turn, so he stood reluctantly. “I’m OZ and my Master is Lilly Bedford. She is one of the rare shadow mages and she can control shadows.” With his face still emotionless, he sat back down and listened to the others speak, mentally noting how many were which type of mage.
Zac had put up with the bickering and the nagging. He was just trying to take notes and get on with class and ignore the noises coming out of that girls mouth, like she just spewed rudeness at all hours of the day. He was used to it. Pitt did it all the time. She even made jokes about his "stupid hobbies" and "dumb sports". There was something about this girl though. It made her nagging a thousand times worse than Pitt's. Probably because at the end of the day, Zac loved Pitt. He loved her cute little face, and her cute way of teasing him. It was friendly, it was nice. Then he heard her say, "Oh yeah, by the way blondie. If you heard the man correct, I was a born killer, so don’t go questioning me and my morals, got that punk?" Finally, he'd had enough. The noises coming out of her mouth were just too much. Normally, Zac was nice to girls. He did like his Dad told told him to and treated them all nicely. He turned around and said with the politest smile on his face, though his teeth were spitting poison, "I'm so sorry that you're the only shadow mage in here. It's really a shame. It only gives us one more unnecessary person really. Just soaking up resources other keepers could be getting. If you're such a natural born killer, why are you even here? That's a great idea actually. If you love the dark so much, why don't you go back to it, and why don't you never come back either?"
The second he said it, he regretted it. Sure she was disturbing class, but she wasn't actually hurting anyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pitt was so bored. The other demons were all the same. They seemed to have such bad relationships with their keepers. It was so strange to her. Pitt decided she wanted to take a nap instead so she did. Snoring loudly the whole time.

Robert

Robert nodded slightly as the boy in the front explained a Keepers’ job. “Thank you, um,” he said, peeking at the roster again, “Zachary. That was a wonderful explanation.” He proceeded to ignore the shadow girl in the back, but did confront her about scaring the other students. “Miss Bedford, if you are going to frighten the other students, I suggest you stop or I might just have to freeze your mouth shut temporarily,” Robert said with a friendly smile on his face. “OH! I almost forgot. My name is Mr. Beckenfield, but you can call me Robert if you want. Either way doesn’t matter to me.”

“Now, as you may already know, we will be taking trips around to different places to see different beings. Good and bad, you will have to … slay some of them. If you refuse, you may lose your own life, and I can’t have that. Some of you who would jump ahead might be at greater risk. Never follow all the rules, because that could spell the end as well. Don’t be afraid to follow your heart.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the demon’s finished, Kira looked at the demon that went first and smiled. “You and your Keeper have an unbreakable bond, but you can still get in fights every now and then. I do with Robert at least five times a day, but in the end, we still can’t stand being apart. You see, you could do the worst thing in the world and they would have to forgive you. That’s how the bond works.”
“Looks like Pretty Boy is having a prissy fit. That’s kinda cute. I would honestly love to crawl back into I came out of, but I have better things to do. So why don’t you be a good little boy and take notes.” Lilly turned her attention back into the frail looking girl in front of her. “You should be taking notes to. I don’t want my demon thinking I slacked off the entire time.” The girl actually started writing and Lilly just kicked her feet back up and leaned in her chair. Hate … such an odd feeling, she thought. Why was she here, she could just get up and leave, making the class way happier. So why wouldn’t she. Lilly closed her eyes and day dreamed, like she often did, blocking out all other noise. What should I eat when I get back to the dorm, she thought, drifting off in a food wonderland. The voices of the shadows and the occasional images swept in and out, but she remained searching her mind for recipes. Of course, neither OZ nor she could cook, so they usually snuck out to eat. “Maybe burritos … those are cheap and yummy,” she muttered unconsciously.
OZ listened to the demons talk, taking in their information. What kind of bond did him and Lilly have, he wondered. It seemed more like a Master – Servant thing to him. Yeah, he loved her, but did she love him back? It was too confusing to endlessly ponder on.
She'd ignored him. Guess he should have too. Zac was always the hot headed kind. Say mean things first and punch some stuff then find out the consequences later. He resolved to man up and apologize to her after class. He continued to pay attention and took notes about what was being discussed. However, he had a question for the professor, about something he said earlier. Everything was very interesting, and he'd almost completely forgotten it, but he did have a tiny little question niggling at the back of his brain. He couldn't help it, so he had to ask. He finished writing down what little bit he needed and raised his hand. Finally he was called on.
"Excuse me sir, you mentioned we'd be going to see some of them. I realize that we're in an odd situation so we're going out to gain experience, however, isn't the slaying of particularly evil monsters left to the Older, more powerful keepers? Further, if you don't mind my asking, what kind of creatures do you think we'd be going to visit?" Zac was naturally curious, and though he would never back down from a fight, he wasn't sure of the collective combat ability of everyone in the room. The teacher would obviously be experienced, that much was certain. And, Sure the shadow mage back there talked a good game, but you could never really know until you were thigh deep in some kind of trouble.
The teacher spoke, "Alright guys … can we please focus?” He listened to Zachary’s questions. “Okay, I see where you are coming from, and yes, this is usually something left for the older mages to do, but as the future generation of mages, the testing is getting much harder. If I was any other teacher, I would not be having you go up against these monsters, but I’m a very experienced man. You will be going against every monster I can think of that wouldn’t kill you in an instant. Now, we are going around the room, introducing ourselves and our area of specialty. Now, some of you may have resentment towards specific users for some unknown reason, but please refrain from any rude comments. I would love for everyone to participate."
Zachary looked around. There was a decent group of kids in the room, each with a very interesting set of powers. It was finally his turn so he stood up and looked around the room. Most everyone looked at him quietly and respectfully, the Shadow girl in the back was obviously daydreaming. Zac ignored her. "I'm Zachary," he said. "If it's easier you can call me Zac. I like to play any sport or any game you can think of as long as it's fun." He said this part with a smile, trying to make a good first impression. He continued, "I'm an Earth type Mage specializing in Transmutation and Manipulation. I can turn any rock or dirt or sand into a blade for me to use. It doesn't matter what it's made of. Further, I can manipulate any existing metal into a sword-like shape depending on how much is there. Obviously, the more there is, the better of a sword I'll get out of it. Same goes for pulling the blade out of dirt. That's about it really. It suits me well as the captain of the school's fencing team." After his introduction and brief explanation, he sat back down and waited for the exercise to finish. Zac was really eager to go on their first mission. He couldn't wait to put his enemies to rest in his Boneyard. However, luck favors the prepared. Zac made sure to jot down a few quick notes about everyone in the class. Name and type with a brief summary of what they could do. It would be useful to know in a crisis situation.
Pitt was having small talk made at her. She wasn't really sure how to handle this. Obviously Zac would know what to do in a social situation, but it mostly just tired Pitt out. All she really wanted was to take a nap in Zac's hair. She smiled thinking about him. He'd washed his hair this morning so it was extra nice. Her desk wasn't anywhere near as comfy. As Zac's hair was. Such a shame. Naptime would have to wait. Pitt attempted to make small talk at the demon who was talking to her. It wasn't working very well. She didn't even feel the least bit badly about it.
[Roland went to bed, so I’m posting for him. XP]
Robert nodded as the class finished. The only one who hadn’t gotten up and spoken was the shadow girl. So Robert stuck a single finger in the air and formed an ice crystal, flicking it her way. It landed directly on her forehead, bringing Lilly back to reality. She lost her balance, falling out of the chair and landing on the floor. “Hey,” she yelled as she leaped up. “What was that for you jerk! I wasn’t bothering you! “
“I prefer you not sleep in my class,” he said with a smile.
“That doesn’t mean you can go around throwing ice at my head!” Lilly rushed to the front of the room, jumped on the desk and grabbed Robert by the shirt. “How about I kill you right now, you stupid punk! See how good you really are!”
“You know you’re threatening an F class Mage, right? That’s probably a higher rank than you can get with that attitude.” Robert continued to smile at the girl. “It’s a good thing you are absolutely adorable when you are angry, or I wouldn’t have just frozen your feet to my desk.” The thought of her feet being frozen distracted her, giving Robert the chance to flick her forehead. Lilly had horrible balance, so she predictable fell on the floor again. “Your name and your area of expertise if you please.”
“You already know!! I’m Lilly Vatalini Bedford and I’m the best shadow mage ever! One day, I’m going to rule all of you pathetic losers, including you,” Lilly said, pointing at Robert as she got off the ground. “No one is going to surpass me, no one! Man, I don’t get why any other type of mage even exists. Shadow mages are ultimately the best and no one stands a chance against us!”
“Is that why there are so many of you,” Robert said jokingly.
“Like I would know. I’ve had to live with freakin’ shadows my entire life. I’ve never even met another shadow mage, so I must be special. Who else can do what I do? No one.” Robert nodded, as if he was listening intently.
“Okay class! Be up early tomorrow and eat well. We are starting training. I will have three separate classes. Physical, mental and emotional, which we will alternate with spells and potions the day after tomorrow. Got that? Plenty of sleep and eat lots! I will decide tomorrow who is in which group. We have a mission exactly a week from today.”
As the rest of the class finished up, it finally became Lilly's turn. She did nothing. She didn't stand up, she didn't even say her name, so Robert flicked a chunk of ice at her and it knocked her over. Of course, she became angry and flew into a tantrum, which Professor Robert calmly diffused. She went on and on about how Shadow Mages were the best and they were the only kind that needed to exist and blah... blah... blah... Zachary had stopped paying attention. Instead, he filled in what other notes he needed and packed everything into his bag. Finally, she became so flustered, that she fell off of his desk and onto the floor. Robert spoke, "Okay class! Be up early tomorrow and eat well. We are starting training. I will have three separate classes. Physical, mental and emotional, which we will alternate with spells and potions the day after tomorrow. Got that? Plenty of sleep and eat lots! I will decide tomorrow who is in which group. We have a mission exactly a week from today."
Zachary hung back and waited for Pitt. She still wasn't done yet so he figured now was as good a time as any. The rest of the students were just mingling anyway, waiting for their demons to get back so they could leave. He might as well too. He walked over to the Shadow girl and held out his right hand to shake. He didn't care if she slapped him, she didn't care if she called him names, he had to try, even if it failed miserably.
"We got off on the wrong foot." Zachary started. "I don't like what I said to you earlier and I'm sorry I said it. I was angry, I didn't actually mean it. It's not your fault you were born a shadow mage, and I shouldn't be picking fights with you based on that. What do you say, could we maybe start over? Can I at least try to be friends with you? Do we really have to get on like that every day? It can't be fun for you, having everyone be afraid of you, can it?"
Pitt was slowly dying. Their meet and greet was dragging on forever. All she wanted was to go and see Zac again. She needed a nap like no body's business."The hair..." she murmured. "It calls! The hair! So soft!!!" She held he hand up to the ceiling, clutched as if to supplicate the gods for their divine mercy. She then flopped ungracefully unto her desk again. She started tracing circles on her desk in sheer boredom. Then squares. The triangles. Finally she did dodecahedrons before deciding it was time to stop drawing shapes. She thought about steak again. Her stomach growled audibly. She wished she hadn't thought about steak. Zac always made it so good, and it was such a tasty treat. Maybe later.
Lilly glared up at the blonde haired boy. Then she smiled. “I love what I said to you. Been a while since someone has been stupid enough to talk back to me.” Lilly stood and ignored his hand, dusting herself off. “I need to leave this dump and get some food.” Lilly looked around, waiting for OZ.
“Alright guys, you can leave, make sure to get plenty of rest and have good meals.” Kira walked through the wall and into the classroom, leaping onto Robert’s desk again. OZ slowly walked through the wall, making his way over to Lilly.
“Thanks for not being there to take notes OZ! You wouldn’t believe the idiots I had to deal with today! And the teacher, the teacher for heaven’s sake, is a total jerk! Come on. We need to stock up food while we can so I don’t starve. Besides … after today, I have a blood lust that needs to be filled.” Lilly looked slyly at Zac, chuckling slightly. “Unless you have some sort of input.”
“Master, no. Stop. You shouldn’t be talking to your classmates like this.” OZ turned to Zac and bowed slightly. “I apologize for her behavior,” he said emotionlessly.
“What is with you OZ! You’ve been apologizing left and right today without my permission! You,” she said, turning to Zac, “Give me your notes. I need OZ to copy them down for later. Actually, on second thought, come get food with us. I’ll show you how good I really am! You see, I’m going to be the ultimate ruler of the world! No one will be able to defeat me, not even the Elders’. Once I get out of here, I’ll be strong enough to beat anyone! Then you can give me your note before I eat so I don’t fall asleep.” Lilly walked towards the door, but had to stop and wait for OZ to catch up.
“Oh. Lilly, I forgot to tell you that you that you have detention tomorrow after class. Make sure to come prepared for a fight, okay,” Robert said with a smile that even sent chills down Lilly’s spine. “We do detention different here. And I think it will be good for you.”
“You did it again,” said OZ.
Lilly glared up Zac. Then she smiled. “I love what I said to you. Been a while since someone has been stupid enough to talk back to me.” Lilly stood and ignored his hand, dusting herself off. “I need to leave this dump and get some food.
Zac scoffed. "Figures... Whatever. I honestly don't know why I'm even trying to do this with you. I figured I'd give you a second chance 'cause I'm sure other people haven't. If this is what I get for my trouble whatever. Just whatever."
It was at that exact moment that Pitt came bursting from the spot on the wall and made a beeline at rapid speed to the one spot she loved more than any other place in the world. Zac's head. The lovely reunion almost knocked him over.
"Did you miss me Zach-y? I missed-ed you! I missed-ed you sooo much!" She then proceeded to make gross kissing noises and roll around on Zac's head.
Zac, however, was less than thrilled. He began to walk away from Lilly and the rest of the class and was going to head home. "Jesus Pitt, can't you even try to behave?"
"Why? Behaving is for squares." she replied simply. "Feh, forget it. Let's go home." Zac sighed. Behind him, he heard Lilly and her demon carrying on.
Thanks for not being there to take notes OZ! You wouldn’t believe the idiots I had to deal with today! And the teacher, the teacher for heaven’s sake, is a total jerk! Come on. We need to stock up food while we can so I don’t starve. Besides … after today, I have a blood lust that needs to be filled.” Lilly looked slyly at Zac, chuckling slightly, making sure to get his attention. “Unless you have some sort of input.
Zac rolled his eyes and scoffed. "You wouldn't be enough for me anyhow. Your name's not big enough to be buried in my Boneyard." he muttered.
Master, no. Stop. You shouldn’t be talking to your classmates like this.” OZ turned to Zac and bowed slightly. “I apologize for her behavior,” he said emotionlessly.
Zac was about to brush off the little demon's apology, stating that there was no need for such formalities, but he was interrupted.
What is with you OZ! You’ve been apologizing left and right today without my permission! You,” she said, turning to Zac, “Give me your notes. I need OZ to copy them down for later. Actually, on second thought, come get food with us. I’ll show you how good I really am! You see, I’m going to be the ultimate ruler of the world! Oh. Lilly, I forgot to tell you that you that you have detention tomorrow after class. Make sure to come prepared for a fight, okay,” Robert said with a smile that even sent chills down Lilly’s spine. “We do detention different here. And I think it will be good for you.
You did it again,” said OZ.
"It seems you've forgotten about me." Zac sighed. "I won't be rising to your little challenge. It wouldn't be fun for me to crush some little squirt like you. Besides, you're gonna need to save up your strength. Detention and training tomorrow? You're gonna die. Good luck." Zac turned on his heel and left. He knew that tomorrow was going to be difficult so he made sure to make a mental note to get Pitt to stop bothering him early so he could sleep.
As he walked down the hallway, Pitt spoke up, sensing her Master's inner turmoil. "Zach-y why are you trying so hard to impress those butt heads?"
"They're my classmate's Pitt, you'd think there would be SOME form of comradery. It's no fun unless everyone's enjoying themselves. I hate to see her all alone like that. Plus she's doing it on purpose. I just don't get it. Does she want everyone to hate her?" Zac questioned, at no one in particular.
"Zac... you're too nice." Pitt countered softly. "What?" "You really care about those people, even though you hardly know them. You're really nice. I love you Zac." Pitt finished softly, smiling. She knew that deep in her heart, even though it looked like Zac wanted to be respected, and maybe feared, he just genuinely wanted everyone to get along. He was the best. She sighed dreamily. Zac blushed, "There's no reason everyone can't get along..." he mumbled. Then he changed the subject. "What are you hungry for Pitt? Let's stuff ourselves tonight! Then we'll sleep all night. We can do our homework later."
"Yeah!!! Screw homework!" Pitt shouted in triumph.
Lilly rolled her eyes at Robert, ignoring him. “Come on, OZ. Let’s go do what we do best and get some food.” Lilly took one last glance around the class before shaking her head.
“We have food in the dorm, Master. We may as well just go to bed.” OZ looked at Lilly, almost showing pleading in his eyes. “You have a lot of stuff going on tomorrow and you need your rest.” OZ was obviously worried about Lilly, something no one but Lilly would be able to see. She hated it when he got like that, it stung oddly enough.
“Alright OZ. We will leave and get regular old mystery meat from the dorm. But you own me, just remember that!” Lilly and OZ left the room, making their way slowly down the hallways, toward the dorms. Normally, Lilly liked the silence, but it was just weird at the moment. The distant chirping of the last birds and the rising noise the stupid crickets made. It played out like a song, a stupid annoying song. “What am I going to learn from getting the crap beaten outta me? Seriously, what kind of school is this?” Lilly let out another sigh as low whispers replaced nature’s music. The whispering of students, teachers and their shadows alike filled her head. “Hush, hush,” Lilly whispered to herself. OZ silently slipped his hands over her ears in an attempt to help.
“You know Master. You could make friends with your classmates,” he thought to her.
“My objective is to find out enough to bring all these insignificant fools to my feet, and you know that. No point in a few friends when you could have millions … billions of people bowing at your feet. I would rather die that give up my goal. Don’t you get that? That’s all I’ve ever thought about.”
“Because that’s what they put in your mind. You’re a human, and they are shadows. You may be a shadow mage, but you aren’t one of us. We are demented creatures, Master. You don’t have to be like us …,” OZ said. Like she knew any other way … it was how she was raised.
“I’m tired OZ.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The morning light had no way of peeking in her room. She had boards nailed to the windows so the light wouldn’t bug her. It was against the policy to ‘deface’ the room in such a way, but she didn’t honestly care about that. Lilly tossed and turned as the pure feeling of morning poked at her. “Alright, alright, I’ll get up. Okay OZ?” Lilly could feel OZ stir next to her. “Why must you do that to me. Do you find pleasure in not letting me sleep?”

“Sometimes,” he said in a monotone. “But you do have a long day today. So you should be up so you can shower and eat. You shouldn’t be late for detention, Master.”

“I guess you’re right.”

It wasn’t long until Lilly was ready and standing in the door way of the classroom. From what she could see, no one was in the classroom yet. “Was I supposed to come back here,” Lilly said, looking back at OZ, who just shrugged.

Zac was having a lovely dream. The key word in that phrase being was. Pitt had woken up hours ago and was bored to tears. She chose this exact moment to wake up Zac and get him to make her breakfast.

"Zach-y..." she said, attempting to ease him out of bed. He merely grumbled.

"Zach-y my love, wake up..." she prodded him gently. He flipped over and snored.

"ZAC I'M HUNGRY WAKE UP NOW!!!" She roared, to which Zac did finally escape the comfortable and quiet grips of sleep. He did so most abruptly.

"For crying out loud Pitt! I'm trying to sleep here!!" He yelled.

"It's morning time now." Pitt said sleepily. "If you don't hurry up and get ready, you'll be late for class."

"What? What about my alarm!?' Zac panicked. He flew out of bed and threw on his clothes.

"Oh, you mean Mr. Annoying Butt. I turned him off, he kept waking me up." Pitt said nonchalantly. She obviously hadn't realized that while she did this every morning, it was the cause of them always being late. Zac never really talked to her about it.

"You shut off my alarm clock? Now we're not gonna be able to have a good breakfast today Pitt!" Zac yelled from the bathroom while fixing his unruly hair.

"WAIT! THAT'S WHAT HE MEANS?!" Pitt exclaimed. She flew over to the smashed alarm clock, bowing to it and pleading with it. "I'm so sorry Mr. Alarm clock, will you ever forgive a worthless wretch like me? I promise I'll never smash you again!! Please, come back to us!! I'll sacrifice Zac! Will that make you feel better?" "Hey!" came Zac's muffled retort from the bathroom as he brushed his teeth. "Even though I love him more than breakfast, I'll still sacrifice him! Don't let us go without breakfast oh magical time device!!!" While Pitt was usually unaffected by her harmless pranks on Zac, no one ever messed with food in their house. It was a sacred subject. However, it was no use. The damage was done. They had to skip their big breakfast and settle for toast and juice instead. While it was something, and better than nothing, it wasn't going to be enough, luckily, they'd packed a massive lunch, so they'd be ok when they got to lunch. Zac explained this to Pitt as they ran to class.

"But that'll take forever!" She whined from up in Zac's hair.

"It'll have to do!" Zac said. "Maybe that'll teach you to stop smashing my alarm clocks!" Zac scolded. "Never again!!" she wailed melodramatically.

They ran to the classroom in record time, but surprisingly enough, they were incredibly early. There appeared to be no one there. "If I'd known we were gonna be this early, I'd have made you make us breakfast anyway." Pitt whined.

"Knock it off Pitt, we're in class now..." Zac trailed off once he'd seen Lilly sitting in the classroom by herself. "Oh, it's you." he muttered, just loud enough for her to hear.

"Knock it off Pitt, we're in class now..." Zac trailed off once he'd seen Lilly sitting in the classroom by herself. "Oh, it's you." he muttered, just loud enough for her to hear. Lilly turned quickly to glare at Zac, pondering silently why he was here.

“I could have sworn you never got detention. So why don’t you just beat it and go find the rest of those scum-sucking goodie-goodies. Can’t you see I’m preparing for a battle,” Lilly said as she turned back so she was facing the front and laid her head on her desk. “Stupid people … telling me to come prepared and not even showing up. Who do they think they are anyways? Telling me what to do.” OZ was on the other side of the room, deeply interested in a book. Lilly just glanced at him before continuing to mumble about how useless humans all humans were. “Hey OZ,” Lilly yelled, just to get his attention. “Why don’t you be useful and go find the stupid excuse for a teacher! I want to know if he’s coming or not! Take blondie with you so he can go do stupid training with the rest of the stupid, insignificant, lame, poor excuses for mages …,” Lilly started before slamming her head onto the table and continuing her conversation in a hushed tone.

The shadows around the room wavered as Lilly continued to mumble. OZ glanced down at the ground from his book and sighed. Even his appearance was faltering. “You know I can’t leave you.”

“It’s not like I depend on you. You can leave … unless you are that much of a priss. Just go OZ,” Lilly mumbled. But OZ just sat back down and continued to read his book.
