Genesis Snyder's Story

Genesis hated the Underworld, or at least all that she had seen of it. Ellery appeared to enjoy it... then again, it was her domain. Genesis longed for Earth. The stable ground beneath her feet that only moved when the plates did or when she willed it. She especially missed the animals. Her head was weirdly quiet without some bird chirping at her or a dog begging her to play. As the boat lurched along she closed her eyes and imagined a forest, and that instead of floating in a river in the Underworld, she was sitting in a branch that swayed with the wind.

Luciano watched all these bright, bright threads of fate spark to life, interweave, and start to work in the warp and weft of the Loom of Fate. Blake, Ellery, Raiden, Stella, Allison, Lucas, Jasper, Asper, Kane, Noah, Genesis...he felt like he knew them, but he had captured but mere glimpses of them since they had awoken. He knew nothing, really. And they did not know him...and the Void had asked him to follow.....to follow into the Underworld. His antithesis, darkness and death. He was light and life, the sun and the wide open spaces underneath it. He HATED the Underworld...but they would need all the help they could get. Hitler was not an easy target. He shuddered...then gasped Friends who I barely know, do not ask this of me...I cannot bear it! But, I have seen where you fail...and I cannot allow that to happen. The Styx is death to enter, even for us. Moses' plagues will kill us as well, none are safe. We must strive to enter Tartarus without being seen, and you will need both Ellery and my help! He shook visibly, the muscles in his arms quaking as he struggled to overcome his fear of being so far underground, away from his place in the sun. Suddenly, though, everything became calm. He saw how Genesis, one more like him than the rest, faced her fear and joined the group. He took a deep, calming breath, and sat down with his legs crossed. He closed his eyes, and focused on the deck of the boat they were all on. He felt the rocking of the waves against it's sides, the creak of the eons old wood, the musty smell of air that hadn't seen the light of day ever in it's long life, and the bright strands of his future friends lives. Suddenly, he felt the weight of innumerable tons of rock cutting him off from the sun, and he whimpered aloud. He opened his eyes and saw everyone on guard around him, staring at him warily. My friends... he said faintly, with a smile, before the strain of using his newly acquired powers overwhelmed him and he slumped against the side of the boat, one arm dangling dangerously off the side. [Hope this works as an intro!]

Genesis pulled Luciano's arm back into the boat and sat beside his slumped form. Light and sun weren't very far from the Earth and wildlife that she held dear. He had frightened her though. He along with the menacing voice that accompanied the realm of Tartarus made the fear she was suppressing bubble up. Breathe deep, Gen. It's only the Underworld... She stood up, still staying closed to Luciano, just in case he needed anything. She glanced towards the rest of them, all waiting and ready to take on whatever was coming towards them.
"I wish I had a cigarette," she grumbled, before calling a bit of Underworld-ly rock to her so that she had something to do with her hands.

(Nudge, nudge everyone..)

Blake listened as some more people piped up. Blake looked up to see Elery blushing. Great, now I've embarrassed the girl He cursed himself. Blake felt the waves of the river beneath him and as he looked over the edge he could see people swimming in it. The people weren't fully there, they were transparent and. The souls that didn't make it to Elysium. The cursed river which Achilles was bathed in so many years ago. He couldn't help but have a smile come over his face. Achilles, a true warrior.

Blake felt the boat rock as some souls brushed it. Blake was used to boats, but not boats floating on a river of human souls. One of which Blake gladly contributed. Blake couldn't help but remember the day he had killed that boy, his entire life changed. He killed him, no mercy, no remorse, Blake was a warrior. The boy had chosen not to tap out and swallow his pride, Blake refused to let him go. His death was his own foolish fault. He over estimated himself.

Blake came back to reality to see nothing had changed.

"I wish I had a cigarette," she grumbled, before calling a bit of Underworld-ly rock to her so that she had something to do with her hands.

Blake smirked and produced a pack out of his back pack. "You'd be surprised who you can bribe with a smoke in Canada." Blake joked. He lit it with a snap of his fingers and offered it to her.

She tried to focus on the rock instead of her craving. It was kind of stupid, really. She didn't really know how the Underworld worked, if there was some demon that would have attacked her for doing so, but the earth didn't seem that different than the earth in her backyard back in California. The comparison made her smile, but she was jolted from her thoughts when someone said:

"You'd be surprised who you can bribe with a smoke in Canada."

Genesis looked up, and her eyes widened in surprise as he lit it with his fingers. It was still new to her, that there were other people who could control elements, with just the snap of their fingers... literally.

She stood and took the cigarette with a smile, inhaling it with her eyes closed, "Thanks," she said gratefully opening her eyes and nodding towards the man, "I don't think we formally met, I'm Genesis, Deity of Earth and Wildlife."

"Blake. Fire, war." Blake said. He leaned over the edge of the boat watching the souls pass under him. He could easily pick out which ones were killed in battle. He could feel it resonating off of them. those poor brave souls were headed for a new level of hell.
