Musical Style
Oliver is inspired by many things. Some of those things he doesn't know that he's inspired by. When it comes to music, he starts playing and lets whatever is going to happen, happen. The bands he keeps in his mind are quite classical. Metallica, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera. This are the ones you are certain to find on his iPod, while there is also a morass of names of newer bands including non-metal bands. There are some pop groups on there as well that he enjoys and even draws inspiration from, as well as blues. How it all goes in through his ears and comes out through his hands is a long and complicated process, with inputs from so many different styles of music.
Unlike some guitarists he knows, Oliver doesn't like the constant, fast and over-gained solos. He likes to differ in tempos instead of just shredding away, and playing around with octaves is another habit he can't quite break (and probably doesn't want to).
Personality
Those that know him, can see past his at first intimidating appearance and find him to be a rather relaxed person. Oliver is the type who couldn't function doing anything else than what he is doing. "Normal" jobs bore him after a short while and he hates being bored. He's very sweet under it all, despite all the anger inside him. He is learning to channel his emotions and can sometimes - in a spare moment - sit and meditate almost. He calls it "tidying up his head". That is how he remains so calm and kind as he actually is and makes sure that the anger he has inside him comes out via music.
Even though he spends a lot of time "tidying up his head", he still has quite a temper. Oliver has a clear sense of what he thinks is right and wrong and knows his limits. He won't take shit from very many people. His solution to that is to talk to the person and find some sort of compromise, if the issue is music or work related.
A very mellow person, but not a man you would want to anger.
As he is so easy going, he can come off as lazy sometimes. Stress is such a destructive thing to him, which explains his behaviour when working. Most people can accept this once they know him. He'll come in to the studio for instance, sit down, drink some coffee and talk for a while before getting started. Then, he'll work intensively. When you learn to respect his tempo, you'll discover that he is very reliable and hard working and likes to keep in touch with everything and everyone so he knows what's going on. Oliver is well aware of this and knows it can annoy people sometimes.
Mr. Haynes has authority issues. The man absolutely loathes when people presume to tell him what to do. He can't remember a time without that feeling. If he doesn't want to do something, he won't do it. That is not how the world works, but somehow he's gotten through life with it. Of course, this only comes to show rarely. Otherwise, he'd probably be in trouble by now. Despite his mindset, he works very well with people and is good at compromising and figuring things out together. A process he finds very interesting. Oliver strives to be a good person as well as funny.
Appearance

You'll usually see him sporting a grey or black or white (in general quite neutral) t-shirt, black jeans or shorts. He also likes wearing button up shirts, again paired with a pair of black or grey worn jeans. The one tattoo he has so far is a pattern on his arm. Something he claims has to do with vikings, though that's the most anyone has gotten out of him regarding the tattoo.

History
Oliver Mason Haynes was born to parents with nothing but love for their children. He has a sister two years younger than him, whom he has a very close bond with.
They were both born in Denmark, as their mother was Danish and had met their father who happened to be on a business trip, in Copenhagen. One thing led to another and nearly four years later, Oliver was two years old and Signe had just been born. Since few people outside of Scandinavia can pronounce his sister's name right when they hear it, she's been called Siggi for most of her life. By everyone.
Not long after Siggi's birth, they moved to America. Specifically, Denver, Colorado. That is where he grew up although he would always ask questions about the country he was born in. Oliver took a huge interest in the history of Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia and has often visited it in his adult life.
To his parents it was clear that he was going to play music from a very early age. They knew he was a little different in the sense that his mind wasn't very structured. His mother was the one to teach him the technique of "tidying up your head" which he still uses today. At the age of 9 he got his first drum kit and learned how to play it, but as it is with all youngsters that age, interests vary. For a time after that it was video games, then it was swimming, later it would be girls who caught his interest. A host of other things had to be tried out before he discovered his true passion. The guitar. Sure, he had learned how to play the drums, but it came much more natural to him learning this new instrument.
Having always been inspired by metal and rock bands and desiring to play that type of music, there were also many other genres that had a place with him. In his childhood home there was always music playing. Classical, blues, jazz, rock, pop, you name it. That taught him to have an open mind.
It also taught young Oliver how to draw inspiration from many different genres and fuse it together into something of his own. That fuelled his desire to play guitar and made it all the more fun.
He was in a host of bands as well, when he was young and of course none of them had the skill, ambition, time or money to make it something more than just a garage band. Not until he reached the age of 20 at which point it all exploded. He'd found a group of people that had the talent and the time and were hard working.
