Playing with a Weapon
Alex doesn't tend to do so in public, it's more of a habit he does in solitude when in deep thought. He'll take out his gun and spin in in his hands, or toy with a knife while he thinks. And he often has a weapon on him, it comes from the territory of being a member of the Mafia Montagues.
Silence
Lex realizes the advantage of intimidation, and finds he's more intimidating silent with a straight face. It was how he was raised to be. He's very much used to being the background character in most interactions. He does try to break the habit from time to time by communicating more but more often than not he finds he doesn't ever have much to say on any matter.
|Skills|
Shooting
Lex was trained at an early age to be proficient with a gun. He considers his aim his best skill, mainly used for sniper missions.
Interrogation
One part of being apart of the big bad Mafia Montagues is getting information out of, uh, unwilling participants. Lex is rather talented in making people talk. Well most the time his job is made a little easier by certain tools. He doesn't like to think of it as torture, but rather convincing more stubborn people.
Autodidact
Basically it means he's self-taught. He'd gone to school up until around high school, when he sort of fell off the grid and joined the 'Family Business'. Since then he just started reading and absorbing any information he needed to.

-His Job description: Naturally, considering some of the somewhat illegal tasks he has to preform for his job, everyone outside the Montague circle thinks he works at a slaughterhouse that is conveniently owned by the Montague family., cutting up meat, getting some blood stains now and again, animal blood of course.
-He has a soft spot for family, normally willing to drop just about anything to help someone of the Montague line.
-His sister has the closest thing to normalcy, with a husband and son. Lex always tries to keep anything gang related away from her.
|Fears|
-Being the cause of a death in the family
-Being attacked by animals
Lex is a goon, in the most basic definition, it's his job to be a goon technically. He does the dirty work; interrogation, shootings, anything that needs to get done in the risky family business. If he isn't stoic and threatening, his job gets twice as hard. Really if he lets feelings get to him at all he's screwed. He can be a little violent at times, fortunately he isn't too short-tempered. One thing that does set him off are those people who decide to make homophobic comments. Alex is already out of the closet, has been for a good five years. He may have had some slurs pointed his way from some people but he promptly took care of them, making sure they were very apologetic before letting them loose with a new outlook on how to treat people.
He doesn't speak all that much on the job, being the more strong and silent type. At first it was just during business hours, then the silent intimidation factor seemed to leak into his social life. Lex didn't really ever want to even get into the business in the first place, he wanted to live a normal life and go to school, maybe even raise a family. He basically lives his dream through his sister now, very protective of her and his nephew. All he wants to do is make sure her family lives the safest and most comfortable life possible.
Lex isn't heartless, sometimes the job gets to him. He finds that some nights, if he wants to sleep at night, he has to self medicate. It's mainly hard liquor, and at times a borderline drinking problem. His love for coffee is due to the fact that it helps his hangover most the time. Sometimes he just doesn't feel like he can handle the life, but he really doesn't know what else he'd do with his life. The only other way for him to deal is to read, though he doesn't just sit and read a book for an hour or so. He tends to go into a zombie like mode, where he researches and reads up on any topic he can find until he has to leave for work the next day.
If Alex has one pet peeve it's disrespectful people, and he has a specific way of dealing with those people, one that consists of some technically illegal methods. He hates liars and cheats, those who don't even feel remorse after they've been caught. He went through hell coming out of the closet, and even more hell to gain back respect, he hated hypocrites who refused to just fess up to who they were.
Lex being born into the Montague family might as well have been a curse, at least that was how he saw it. His father thought it clever to name his only son so that his initials spelled out 'Aim'. Lex had been taught combat and 'self-defense' as soon as he learned to walk. His father gave him a gun when he was only 12 and unofficially declared him the son that would continue the family business, the Mafia Montagues, as Lex so lovingly called it. He had gone to school until he'd been pulled out by his father around the 10th grade to officially become a member of the business. Despite his father 'vouching' for him, he still had to go through the traditional initiation. He had his fingers burned with acid so he couldn't leave any fingerprints anywhere, not to mention letting some other members rough him up. Lex still remembers the lie he had to tell his mom and sister, 'I slipped down some stairs, some idiot spilled their drink or something.'
His life was less than ordinary for a teenager, he got to look in on interrogations, join in on business negotiations, and he even got to shoot a guy, all before the age of 18. Lex wouldn't say that he was forced into the life, he never fought back, or argued with his dad, just blindly followed orders. He could have reported them, been a nark, even run away, but he didn't, cause they were family and he had always been taught to stick with family first.
When Alex was maybe 16 he started to experiment with his sexuality. He'd begun to question long before that but his experimentation started with sneaking in to gay bars, first making out, then some more heavy stuff later. Of course he didn't tell anyone a thing. He stayed in the closet for a couple of years, absolutely miserable. His dad was always trying to make him go out with client's daughters, trying to make some kind of business connection through them. Lex hated lying, hiding who he was and pretending to be someone he wasn't. He was finally upfront and told his family when he was about 18. His dad didn't react too well, he kicked him out of the house and told him to never come back. That resolve didn't last very long though. He'd been staying at his sister's place when his dad called him in for an assignment. His dad acted as if nothing happened, just talking business as usual. In truth his father had been mad that Lex wouldn't pass down the Montague tradition, from father to son, blood to blood like his grandfather had to his father, and his father to him.
The little secret seemed to spread, and it didn't take long before most of those connected to him knew about his sexual orientation. His 'coworkers' felt the need to call him derogatory names and after a few good minutes of calling him names, Lex snapped. He lashed out on the men, taking his gun and shooting them all. Non fatal wounds but some hospital attention was needed, and lets just say that one of them might not be able to have children anymore.
It had taken some time, but Lex's father had finally accepted that he wouldn't get his grandson from Lex, so he turned his sights on Lex's older sister, Aubrey. He tried to set her up with some nice mafia boys, while at the same time Alex was trying to set her up with someone stable and boring, someone who wouldn't die in a moment's notice. Luckily for Lex, she choose someone boring all on her own. Aubrey and John got married and a little later had Henry. Their father continuously tries to convince Aubrey of raising him to the mafia lifestyle but Alex would not have that. He and his father argue continuously, most fights ending with his father giving a patronizing smile and saying 'We don't need to fight, we're family after all."
Now Lex is 23 years old and his nephew is four years old. He knows he can't hide them away so he keeps them close. He's known as the guy who carries out all the shots, if his dad calls out a hit , Lex carries it out. This also means that he has the capability and tools needed to take care of any personal problems that he has, and he's not afraid of letting people know that. He isn't known for being nice, and he plans to keep that way.
