Sounds of feet rushing through the dirt and branches that covered the ground of the woods were heard echoing behind her. She was running fast, her breath hard and quick as her feet hit the ground hard, trying to stay ahead of the people. They were yelling, yelling their stupid little rumors they had heard, like she was hiding something from them. She ran until she tripped over a branch and fell into the dirt. The people caught up to her and she looked up at them, fear swirling in her gray blue eyes. "Just leave me alone!" She screamed at them. They seemed to not even hear her when she screamed and they just kept chanting, "tell us, tell us, tell us!" They reached out for her and she screamed.

She screamed and sat upright, her heart was racing and she felt like the room was spinning. Why wouldn't these dreams go away? She wanted to sleep peacefully again. She figured her scream had probably woke up someone, which she did not want. She buried her face into the palms of her hands and let out a soft, hard sigh. She didn't bother to brush her short hair as she quickly got ready and placed a ribbon in her hair and a necklace around her neck and walked out of her room. She had a look of tiredness in her eyes, though she didn't feel too tired. The dreams seemed to wear down on her spirit and make her spiritually tired. She leaned up against the wall for a very short moment.

"Tell us!"

Kai woke up to the same, familiar dream as he's had many nights before. Looking around, he wiped sweat from his brow and simply sat there in the darkness, trying to calm his beating heart. "What do they want?" he asked under his breath, speaking merely to the shadows around him. It was then he heard a scream coming from not too far down the hall and he felt himself jump in surprise before getting out of bed and jolting out of his room. There was never a time to be calm and slow when someone screams, especially when that scream sounds like his little sister's.

Seeing Apple standing there, Kai slowed to a stop, a little out of breath. "Are you alright?" he asked, looking her over carefully. She didn't look harmed, so he allowed his shoulders to relax. Catching her tired expression, one that matched his own, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair, casually leaning against the wall next to her. "The dream, huh?" he figured after only a moment. He worried for her sake. He would much rather that only he have the dream, even a dream ten times as worse, so long as it meant Apple didn't have to have it. But, alas, that sort was out of his control so all he could do was comfort.

Apple saw her brother coming down the hall and she looked at him, "yes, i'm sorry if i woke you up, Kai," she said softly and leaned against him into a one armed hug. "I want it to go away. I try to stay awake to stop the dream, but i always end up passing out anyways." She buried her face against his arm, "how come they won't go away?" She asked him. She always seemed to look to Kai for answers, even if she knew he wouldn't be able to answer them, she though that maybe there would be some slight chance that he would know, that he could help in any way. She moved her face from his arm and looked up at him, her eyes searching for an answer to the questions she held.

Kai shifted his weight to his other foot, hugging Apple tightly back. He frowned and bit his bottom lip, running through options in his mind. What could he say to her? He didn't have a clue. "I don't know..." he mumbled out, hardly audible, yet still it echoed throughout the dark, empty halls of the castle. He had to say something else. He was the older brother, he was the protector, the one who always knew what was going, the one who knew everything, the one who always had an answer. What was the answer? He looked down into her eyes and offered a weak smile, ruffling her already messy bedhead. "Maybe it means something, you know? Maybe someone else knows something we don't know." He paused. He had a question he was dying to ask,

Apple, what is your secret? But he refused to ask it.

"Anyway," he started, pulling away from her and putting a hand on her back to lead her along with him. "We're both up now. Wanna go snag some breakfast? If we get there early, maybe we can pester Arnold about taking too long to make our food." He yawned and snickered at this. Arnold, the cook, was never up this early in the morning. But he was a snobby man, regardless, and always called them brats. So, Kai retaliated by picking on him for taking too long to make his happy face eggs.

Apple frowned slightly when Kai said he didn't know, she hoped that he would, it would make her at least feel a bit better about the dreams...maybe. Though, when he said that maybe someone knew something they didn't, it didn't make her feel better like she thought it would. It just made her nervous. What would someone know that they already didn't? She didn't see how it could be possible for that to happen, but she ignored the thought. When he pulled away from the hug, she looked at him, "yeah, breakfast sounds good." She laughed, it was fun bugging Arnold, he always had the funniest reactions to pranks too, though after a while he finally caught on to her exploding flower prank and he would stand back when getting flower, which made him look rather funny. She smiled as the funny scene played through her head and she walked with Kai to get food. There was a tiny skip in her step, like their usually was, as she walked along.

Kai laughed under his breath as he followed after Apple to the dining room. On his way, he turned a corner and bumped into someone, waving his arms and falling on his back. He looked up quickly to see who it was and his eyes widened. Standing quickly Kai held out a hand to help the familiar girl up while also trying to hide his laughter at his own embarrassment. "Hey, Setsuki!" he greeted brightly. "Uh, sorry about that. I wasn't paying attention." He sheepishly scratched the back of his head.

Setsuki smiled cheerily, and accepted the hand up. "It's okay!" she said cheerfully, then pouted. "Your hair is in a mess AGAIN!" she growled, and desperately set about fixing it. "You know, one of these days I might acually have to shave your head!" she joked, then looked at him again. "That's better." Her face turned serious. "I heard Apple screaming again last night. Are you two still having the dreams?" Her brow was furrowed.

Apple laughed a bit when he ran into Setsuki, "you're so clumsy brother." She smiled at him and looked at Setsuki as she got up and started to attempt to fix his hair. "Shave his head? That would be funny," she looked at Kai and held her hand up and squinted, trying to imagine him bald, and she started laughing again. When Setsuki stated that she held her scream she stopped laughing and looked at her. "Yes, it was the dream again," she pouted slightly, "sorry if me screaming woke you up." She looked at her and kept the pout on her face.

Kai laughed and ducked away from Setsuki. "Yeah, if you could catch me," he snickered under his breath, though he wouldn't hold it to her. Knowing Setsuki, she might just try it one of these days if he challenged her on it--which was not something he wanted to do. He quite enjoyed his hair right where it was. It was one of his more attractive physically features. After all, the ladies just loved to run their hands through his soft, messy hair. Setsuki was a perfect example, he thought with a cheeky grin because he knew he was only joking in his mind. His gaze turned to his sister as the mention of the dream came about and he stood closer to her side for comfort. "It was the dream," he nodded, "but I'm sure it's nothing too big." He knew that wasn't true, but he didn't like the fact of his sister worrying too much about it. "So how about that breakfast?"

Setsuki smiled at Apple. "Apple, a frigging dead cricket could wake me up. It was no biggie." she hugged her to make sure she was okay. "And I could catch you, and you know it, mister!" she retorted to Kai, without looking. "Now! Would the royal highnesses, should they wish, of course, accompany me to breakfast?" she said, her hands folded behind her back and her nos in the air.

Apple looked up at Kai when he said the dream was nothing too big. Did he really think that? Because she certainly didn't. She felt as if there was something going on, otherwise they would not have both been haunted by the same dream, night after night. Maybe they were cursed, or under a spell, or some evil person was playing mind tricks on them, or - many childish story tale type scenarios played through her head, trying to explain it all to herself until Setsuki spoke to her. She laughed at her comment about the dead cricket and smiled at her cutely, returning her hug. Apple looked at her and joking folded her arms over her chest, "no, commoners eat alone." Her tone sounded serious, but she was very much joking and she knew Setsuki would know this, for she joked with her in this manor quite a bit. She tried not to break into a smile.

Kai was relieved to see Apple take it so well for the time being. He decided that, for the first time since the dreams have come up, he would ask their parents of them later. He had been keeping his pride and, well, he didn't like for his parents to worry over him for such menial reasons, but it wasn't just affecting him, it was affected Apple, too, and she was definitely more important. If he got information on his dream, he would finally have something to tell her--even if it wasn't any way to solve them. He just couldn't stand being in the dark over something so trivial.

Pushing that to the same, Kai smiled at Apple and Setsuki's interacting. He enjoyed Setsuki's company. She was such a good person, he didn't know what the two of them would do without her. He knew Apple's serious-sounding joke of a comment was directed towards Setsuki, but he felt the urge to add himself, so he sighed loudly. "Okay, then I suppose I'll just eat by myself with all the other commoners," he joked, pretending to turn and walk away.

Setsuki laughed when Kai started walking away, and called after him. "The cook needs someone to take out the garbage, by the way!" That'd make him stop! She smiled at Apple. Her and Kai were the closest thing Setsuki had to a family. She hoped that this dream thing would pass. "Guys, after breakfast in going outside to practise my archery. If you like you guys can tag along." It only then occured to her that they hadn't seen her practise before.

Kai laughed aloud, but scoffed as he spun back around on his heel and returned back to them with a serious face to match the likes of his sister's. He loomed dangerously over Setsuki, a glare in his eyes, trying to look as intimidating as possible. Which, if it weren't for his twitching lip, it might have been quite successful. He leaned down close to Setsuki's face with the same expression. "Are you trying to insult me, peasant?" he asked in the harshest voice he could muster.

Setsuki looked at his twitching lip. Sarcastic comment time! She met his gaze evenly as he leaned down to her. "Kai," she said smoothly, not letting a trace of laughter cloud her face, "If you're going to get that close, you have to at least buy me dinner first." And she couldn't help but smirk. She stepped back, and strecthed. "C'mon, guys. I'm thin enough without you guys starving me! Let's eat!" And she started walking towards the dinner hall.
