~Tiana, what is it?~ her mother asked.
~I can't wait any longer mother. I have to see if Nikara and others are okay.~ Tiana replied, trying to keep her emotions at bay.
The matronly female mer looked at her youngest. She knew how her daughter felt for when she was her age, her father had protected her from a mass shark attacked and was almost killed in the process. It hadn't been long after they had met and her mother knew she met her mate after that incident. She sincerely hoped that Nikara survived this for she knew that Tiana wouldn't be able to take the loss. Her daughter's statement though worried her.
~Honey, it's too dangerous.~
~I know momma, but can't i just take one look? I promise I'll be careful.~ Tiana begged.
~Let her go mother, but maybe several others could go with her.~ said her eldest brother's mate, Baline.
~All right. Take Cyrus and Illius with you.~ Tiana's mother said.
Cyrus and Illius were twins and Tiana's cousins. They were staying there with them to help protect them just in case the serpent came back to the island. It didn't take long to convince the twins to go with Tiana and by the time they reached the area where the fight took place, Tiana saw several of her brothers rushing to help a fallen mer. A closer look and Tiana saw it was Nikara. She would have swam over but her cousins grabbed her arms and held her down. She tried to get loose, but her cousins were too strong. Her brothers that rescued Nikara caught sight of them and carried the unconsious Nikara to them. Tiana could feel tears run down her face. Oh please he couldn't be dead. She placed a hand on his heart and felt it beating. He was still alive! Hope spranged to her face.
~Take him to Tiana's place.~ Cyrus told her two brothers.
More warriors were arriving and Tiana's cousins stayed as well as Tiana and her brothers took Nikara to her place.
Once Nikara was settled, Tiana, her mother, and several others set about to healing him. Where the men in her family were fighters, Tiana and the females were healers. They tried helping Nikara as much as possible and Tiana never left his side, even after her female relatives left.

*help mer! get him away or attack the beast choose!* The strong mer still had enough energy to signal him.
Eros rushed with the glass shard in his hand to meet the snake right after Nikara passed out. He only managed to scratch a few scales down before the snake turned around hissing and trying to take a bite from the mer's shimmering tail.
Eros plunged again, avoiding the poisonous fangs and stabbed the snake just beneath his opened mouth, were he was vulnerable. Just then Tiana and some other mer rushed over, a few of them taking Nikara away from the snake's reach. It was safe now to try and hit him again, the snake was coiling around in agony, taken aback by the attack. It was too late for him, Eros plunged the glass shard in the same spot and moved it from right to left, wounding the beast a little more. He never done anything remotely heroic in his life, yet he managed to do this sort of thing. Too bad for him, there was no one left that he knew to congratulate him, only a few mers and Tico who was so excited by the whole thing that he started to sway back and forth like a fish in a net. Tiana and her cousins along with her brothers were probably already at her home, taking care of Nikara.
The snake coiled around itself in agony, smashing the ocean floor with his tail, sending waves of sand all over the place. Eros had only a little time to flee, taking Tico with him, out of the beast's way. The other Mers went forward to help him defeat the beast.
Eros only wished that Isabella saw him being brave. His hair was full of the snake's sticky blood and his fins were a little messed up, but he looked decent enough to try and see her again. The only thing was that he told her they would meet again that night and the sun wasn't even about to set. Actually he wanted to boast with his heroism and since Nim was the only Mer that seemed to listen to him, Eros thought of her first. Now they had to finish this once and for all, so he waited for a miracle.

“It was large serpent; it’s gone now though Eros killed it.” Nim didn’t quite believe that. “Are you sure it was him.” She asked suspiciously. “Yes I’m sure, look there he goes.” Nim glanced over to where the other Mer was waving. it didn’t take her long to spot the Mer, especially with the blood on him. Thanking the other Mer, Nim swam over. Coming up from behind him she gave him a light knock on his tail. “What happened to you? “ She asked, still a bit sceptical that he had killed the serpent. After all this was Eros. She came to swim alongside him waiting for him to replay. By the look on his face she had no doubt he was about to boast.
