The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 2 authors
Ace pulled up to a single family home.
"We're here. I'm surprised we weren't attacked on the way here,"
She announced, in her firm, professional voice. She opened the car door, right before grabbing a light blue purse, Inside was weapons galore, with pepper spray, pocket knives, and more. She was more then prepared.
Ace closed the car door with her elbow, and started heading towards the front door. She glanced over her shoulder at Calloway,
"You have the keys,"
She sighed, leaning against the door.
"I still don't see why we don't have two sets of keys,"
The door to the old house creaked open just as Ace turned the key. Once again, the same feeling of being watched swept over him. If some things weren't as they seemed, then this was one of them. It seemed as if they were alone, but there were always certain possibilities. They both stepped in quietly, closing and locking the door behind them. If it weren't for the fact that they were in Rural Havis, anyone would have believed that this was a normal house. A fancy one, at that.
An entryway led to the upstairs section of the house, where the railings of the stairs were lined with sheer gold. Expensive paintings scattered the walls in a well-mannered fashion, leaving the same amount of space between each one. The flooring was made of oak wood, each floorboard matching an elegant pattern that seemed fit.
Calloway sighed softly and turned to Ace, wearing a dull expression. "Remind me again why we're here..."
"You're so flavorless. We're on a mission, but I'm sure you know that."
She'd always wondered how they got along, their personalities being so different. Her, humorous and sly, him, flavorless and...boring. She glanced around, and decided to head up the stairs.
"I'll be upstairs...Do whatever you Calloways do,"
She teased, right before disappearing at the top of the stairs. The hallway was also fancy, the flooring was carpet; being a light tan. There were about three doors, each leading to different rooms. The walls were painted a crimson color, and there were tons of artifacts, and such attached to the walls, in a line fashion. She made her way over to the door farthest away from the staircase, and poked her head inside. The walls were painted azure blue, and the floor was once again, carpeted. This time, the carpet was pure white, and a blue water bed was placed to the wall left of the door, right next to a large window. There was an oak wood dresser placed next to the door, with a large mirror placed over it, and another door, leading to a bathroom, or so she assumed. On the opposite side of the bed, there was a flat screen T.V placed on the wall. Also, all the lights were black lights.
Ace walked in, and placed the purse next to the door.
"Well, guess I should get settled in,"
She smiled, and jumped onto the bed.
That wasn't the first time someone would have called him flavorless. He knew it was true, that he lacked a sense of emotion or lacked a reaction to anything in general. The cold truth was- it was what had become of the Calloway that there used to be.
Keeping these thoughts in mind, he walked at a slow place down a hall that never seemed to end. Unlike the entryway, these walls stood bare, boldly creating a feeling of emptiness- one that matched Calloway's emotions. His footsteps seemed to echo with the heavy boots he wore, leaving an eerie silence in its wake. He didn't bother to look through the various doors, or wander into the kitchen or living room area. Instead, he kept a wary stance as he paced in the room, thinking over what Bane had told him before leaving the Organization building.
"Rural Havis isn't just a dangerous place. You can never feel safe while you're here, but at the same time, I bet you'll feel at home." His stern voice rung through Calloway's mind, like ringing church bells. He wasn't sure if that was meant to be a warning, or a sense of reassurance, but he didn't like it. There were few things that Calloway didn't like, and this had to be one of them.
Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the sound of glass shattering.
"This deteriorated fast,"
She muttered, her eyes shooting open. A thief. Just as she had expected. Quickly, she reached for her boot, and snatched a knife from the inside. She threw the knife at him, it lodging itself in his arm. He let out a wail.
Walking back towards the front door, he turned right and let his thundering footsteps sound on the stairs. Seeing that only one door was open- the one furthest from the stairs- it had to be the one Ace was in. He could hear her voice questioning the thief, who screamed out in pain every few moments or so. Taking out his own knife, he entered the blue-walled room with caution.
"How nice of you to join me,"
She smiled.
