Argent Ag-Mian

A second-year student at Beacon.

0 · 403 views · located in Vale

a character in “RWBY: Proof of Innocence”, as played by StorminJericho

Description

Name: Argent Ag-Mian

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Hair: Near black. Shaggy and wild, longer than most male-cut hair. Obviously dyed.

Eyes: Hazel green with flecks of steel gray.

Equipment: Argent carries a silver knapsack that he holds over his shoulder. Save for that, his only equipment is a hood-cloak reminiscent of the pelt of some large animal, colored a metallic silver. He near constantly wears a deer skull-esque mask under his hood, with a pair of antlers rising from underneath. Both the hood-cloak, and the skull are much stronger than they appear, and act as his sole line of defense.

Weapons: Argent carries with him a large bladed whip, with a revolver style base near the handle. When long range becomes necessary, he can straighten and shorten the whip down into a rifle-style firearm, using the revolver base to load dust cartridges if needed. He has named it Rhymora.

Semblance: For short periods of time, Argent can cause electronics, vehicles and electrically powered devices and even weapons to fail. If focused on a single target, the result is a short but violent electrical burst similar to a taser- if more powerful and with a range like that of a small firework. Pop.

Appearance: Argent is a fairly tall 'young adult', with a disposition to walk with his back straight and head held high. His skin is a dark umber-brown, with a spattering of freckles along his cheeks and down to his collarbone. He typically wears a bored expression, though it will quickly change to one of genuine interest or curiosity at the slightest stimuli. With bags under his eyes more often than not, Argent has the face of someone you'd see on the street, stop to watch for a moment, then continue on your day. He's on the cuter side of the scale of attractiveness, and milks it for all it's worth when he's feeling mischievous.

He wears a simple pair of dark gray trousers, with a black long sleeve underneath his cloak and hood. The trousers have padded shins and knees, with a pair of mid-calf high combat boots underneath. More often than not, his whip can be seen hanging at his side, though sometimes it will hang off of his shoulder in it's rifle form.

Personality: Argent is mischief incarnate, and loves getting into and out of trouble. He's extremely caring, and easily entertained. He loves to make people laugh and love both him, and the others around them. Argent is a realist, and treats life as a series of cause and effects, and will often stop a prank or plan if it affects others in a way he or they can't control. He's cheerful, and amiable, easy to get along with, though his mood is often mercurial; it doesn't take very much to change or alter it.
Argent can sometimes get into a state of extreme focus, like when hunting, and it is during these times that he's most quiet.

Backstory: Argent's family was never maligned, and they never really wanted for much, which led to Argent and his sisters. He is the youngest child, and was the baby of the family before they moved from Atlas to Vale. After the move, all of the siblings would go on to attend Beacon, and while his sisters would grow to love the school, Argent never truly felt at home in the institution. Sure he got along with most, and was tolerated by the rest, but it never came to feel like home to him. It was during his first hunting mission that he would come to find life is never truly fair. After a successful extermination mission, Argent returned to Beacon to a headmaster with a bowed head. His parents, who had then owned a smithy in the city, were lost after a fire consumed the smithy and the home above. His sisters were all but unreachable, having disappeared on hunting missions of their own on the same day. He has since stayed at Beacon from then on, and after the Attack, left and wandered until he encountered other hunters or huntresses with which he could roam with. He still waits for a call from his sisters, and searches for answers on just what happened to his adoptive home.

So begins...

Argent became aware of some... Characters of interest the moment the purple dress swished into the building. She was followed by a young man with a sword on his back. Before them, having moved to the desk, was a woman who had a scythe on her back. What.
Behind a mask of bone and cloth, a single eyebrow rose higher than it had in the past week he had been staying in the town. The huntsmen and women he had been traveling with; two teams of four, had stopped off at the beginning of the week, and then abruptly taken off. He had woken far too late, having missed the group message they sent him, and thus was left behind.

For the faunus at the desk, the sight of the lump of silver and white cloth and bone suddenly shifting into a standing position was startling. The ... Man? Teen? Woman? Had been staying at the hotel for just over a week, and had been prone to just waiting in the downstairs lobby, doing nothing. Occasionally it... They? Would get up and move to the bar, order a small drink, and then wander away again.
For Argent, he was far more curious to follow the three who had just walked in, and immediately begun to look out of place. It was interesting! And he was far too curious to see what they would be doing.

Violet looked at the scroll, giving the message a quick scan. She rubbed her forehead with the heel of her hand, trying to push back the beginnings of a headache. “I guess we might as well see. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Argent watching them. The hair stood up on the back of her neck. Maybe it was just paranoia, but she still kept glancing back at him as she walked toward the booth. She gave Cinder a quick look. “What’s going on?”

What the gold-eyed woman had to say was certainly interesting - Donnchad should have been paying attention but he had allowed his focus to be drawn elsewhere. Since entering the lobby he’d been trying to scan the room in case of trouble, and one very odd looking figure had stood out in particular. He hadn’t paid too much heed until the bone-clad stranger had stood up, and from out of the corner of his eye it looked like the figure was looking at them.

Instinctively he began to reach toward Neasclaw’s hilt, but he shook off his surprise and lowered his hand.

“Er, sorry,” he apologized to Cinder in embarrassment, in case she’d noticed him not listening properly (and almost reaching for his weapon), “I think someone shady looking is watching us.” It was obvious he’d noticed the stranger now, so rather than trying to stay inconspicuous he half turned toward him and looked squarely at the concealed traveler.

Argent came to a halt once the sword-wielder gave him his full attention. Another eyebrow raised below the bone-mask, and Argent's lips pulled into a grin. His pelt-cape shifted, and from beneath rose a hand that waved in greeting. Argent held the wave a moment longer, before turning away from the group and instead moving directly for the bar. Maybe he should just... Leave them be, for now.

He wove his way around a few of the tables, head pointedly turned away from the group. He sat down at the bar, ordered a water, and otherwise stayed quiet and out of place. Occasionally some of the older patrons would walk up, say hello and chat amicably with the silent figure, who in turn would face them and wave before letting them talk. It's responses were silent, and little more than waves, head nods, shakes, and shrugs. After each person left, the mask would immediately turn back to the group and their golden-eyed counterpart.

Violet was silent and stone faced for the entirety of Cinder’s speech and for some seconds afterward. Her arms were crossed, set in front of her chest. Her fingers drummed on her arm, making a rapid pattering sound on the plastic jacket. Eventually, she reached into her pocket for her own scroll. “Where was she last seen? And can you send all that to me? Just send it to…” As she gave her information to Cinder, she kept glancing back at the bone-masked figure. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up. At the very least, Donnchad seemed to be attentive to the situation. As long as he kept that up and nothing untoward or threatening happened, she decided that they could deal with them later. Taking a long breath, she looked to each of her compatriots, her eyes lingering on Death a moment longer before continuing. “I want to ask you something: why do you care about any of this anyway? And how’d you know what we’re doing?” She glanced again at Death through slightly narrowed eyes, then looked at the ground, irritated with her own suspicion.

Argent watched the quartet from the corner of his eye, his mask leaving no real way to see which direction his eyes might be looking in. The golden-eyed woman had spoken quite a bit, before she stood up and left them alone. His brow furrowed- unseen as it was- as the scythe-wielder bonked her head against the table. Looks like the woman had some... Effect? Hm.

He stood, pelt-cloak swishing about his body as he strode over to the table curiously, taking no time to just maybe think about his actions. "So... She seemed nice! And flirty, eh, eh~?" A grin spread over Argent's lips, while mentally he screamed at his lack of forethought. They didn't know him, and he didn't know them! And now he's trying to start up conversation as terribly as possible for the sake of getting some laughs- "Wait unless she was actually really threatening or something? You've all got these looks on your faces, and I get the feeling that it's not cuz'o my clothes for once.

Donnchad went rigid as he heard an unfamiliar voice behind him - he'd completely forgot about the stranger and spun round only to face the grim visage they were wearing.

"Gah! Monster! A skull-monster is talking to us!" he blurted out, flailing his arms 'defensively', causing him to stumble and lose his footing. He tripped, slipped, and crashed onto the table of the booth which consequently toppled, leaving him in a shambles on the tavern floor, clutching his head.

Groaning, he opened his eyes. "Oh, it's, er...you?" he remarked, coming to his senses.

Argent blinked behind his mask in silence, tilting his head down to stare at the man who was now rather suddenly on the floor. A heartbeat passed before one gloved hand came up and tilted the mask back enough to expose Argent's mouth. A smile spread across the whole of it as he leaned down and offered his other hand. "You ah- took a tumble there buddy!"

Laughter spilled from Argent's lips as he held his hand out to the sword-wielder, mirth bubbling out from his throat at the theatrics. "Am I really that startling? I mean, I haven't really had the chance to see myself in a mirror but hey!"

She watched Cinder leave, glancing between her and the scroll now in her hands. She tucked it away in her pocket, brushing her hair back from her face. She looked at Death, unsure of what to say, before settling on “Sorry. Exes kind of suck.” Uncomfortably beginning an exit to her room, she noticed the bone-masked man.
Donnchad at least nearly made her laugh from the pure, slapstick easing of tension, but she was still too nervous to do anything but twitch the corner of her mouth. “What is wrong with—Oh, whatever, it doesn’t matter. You've been watching us since we’ve got here, now you come up saying whatever and of course you look weeird, you—! Just what do you want?”

Argent turned his head only slightly towards the speaker, choosing instead to lift his mask until it exposed the entirety of his face. Hazel-green orbs slid over to Violet, and the grin dimmed just somewhat. "Ah, well... Y'all are the only hunters to come through here in about a week, other than the group I was last travelin' with. I was curious, and maybe I jumped the gun but y'all started askin' about that one chick who uh," His voice dropped to a low murmur, brows furrowing curiously, "got blamed for the attack on beacon."

He turned his head towards the slumped over scythe-wielder before returning his attention back to Violet, raising an eyebrow while doing so. "Look, I'm not here to cause trouble, at all. As a matter of fact... I would like to help y'all out if I can. That woman had been in town for a little bit, and last I saw of her she was a little bit, as one would say, suspicious. Or maybe that's just hunter's instinct." Trailing off, Argent sighed and waited for a response.

Donnchad grumbled, staring at the floor in shame. Although he still allowed the stranger to help him up. Now the figure hand lifted their mask back, he didn’t seem so shady. Being able to see who they were talking with helped Donnchad calm down a little.

“Thank you.” He muttered, as he begrudgingly began setting the table and its contents back in their right places while Violet interrogated the masked figure.

“…You’re calling her suspicious?” he asked eventually, gesturing in the direction the golden-eyed woman had left with his free hand while placing flowers back into a half-emptied vase. He stopped to look more closely at the new arrival. “Hang on, I’ve seen you before…wait, aren’t you in our year?”

((Hey, guys, Draruto will unfortunately no longer be joining us. If someone wants to play Death, go right on ahead. If not, then I'll give it a shot.))

Violet frowned. Argent looked very normal under that mask. It was almost stranger than if he had somem horrible disfiguration. "Guess that's fair enough." She fiddled with her jacket zipper. "Sorry."
Donnchad's remark gave her some pause. Well, he did look familiar, and since she couldn't quite place him herself, she just decided to believe Donnchad. "Oh, yeah…" she said. She tried to arrange herself n a more imposing posture, but she just looked uncomfortable. "Well, what would you do about her if you found her? Why would you want to?" The fact of the matter was she didn't trust Argent. Still, he had seen Ivy, and if things went south, she figured that the four of them could take him on.

((Ah- Oh no... That's no good, did they leave any reasoning why?))

Argent was mildly taken aback by the swordsman's abrupt revelation. His head tilted, a bird-like gesture before it was replaced by a wide grin and a small laugh, voice rising into a mildly teasing lilt and volume. "Are you sure you saw me, and not some other skull-monster that could talk?"

He sighed soon after, rubbing his face before turning to Violet once again and assuming as non-confrontational pose as possible. He gave her a 'winning' smile as it were, though in reality he only ended up making himself look cheeky and impish. "I've got a few questions to ask her is all! I don't mean her any harm unless, y'know, she means myself any. I wanna know why she'd do somethin' like what happened, and I'd like to know if she's got any connections to what happened to my own family. I ain't got anythin' else to do either. No home really to go back to considering and seeing as how Beacon's a bit of a," A shrug, followed by less of a smile and more of a grimace, "mess. Pretty sure the last thing they'd need at the school is me hanging around like some sorta ghost. Y'know?"

((Hi sorry I haven't posted in so long, I will try to be more active from now. That's a shame about Draruto, I don't know how well I'd do playing the character but playing multiple characters sounds tricky, is there some way I could help?))

"Haha," Donnchad laughed nervously, getting back to clearing up. It was relief that the stranger was someone from school at least. They could probably trust him more than most of the other people they'd meet here. Donnchad was just in the middle of picking up the glasses that hadn't broken when he mentioned his supposed motive for helping them find their estranged teammate.

"We're hoping to find her and clear her name." he said, standing up. "We don't think she would've done something like that. At least...not willingly." He eyed the skull-wearer suspiciously.

"What's your name, anyway?"

((Hi guys! Sorry for the huge delay... I've been having some personal troubles and work has been less than kind as of late. I dunno how I'd be able to help with playing Death, but I would certainly like to try))

"Argent! Argent Ag-Mian." Another cheeky grin, before it watered down to a generally polite smile. "I was a year two at the school, just like you three! I don't think we had any classes together..." He sighed, standing upright and giving Donnchad a very quick once over before turning to Violet as well. "And how about you two? Your names? It'd be kinda odd if I'm the only one with a name to a face here!" His voice rose just a little, though it was with mirth and amusement rather than anything else.

He found that he liked the two speakers, Donnchad and Violet(though their names weren't known to him just yet), were interesting enough, and weren't at all what he would've expected from other year-two students. He understood that Violet might not trust him, but Donnchad seemed... Amicable! Pleasant enough to be friendly, but smart enough to be suspicious. Good traits!

The girl had the same air, but she looked to have the most drive, maybe? She was interesting in her own right, and Argent was more than curious about what made them so loyal to the 'supposed school traitor' as Argent had been calling her... In his mind... To himself.

((Draruto just said they weren't feeling it anymore.
And don't anyone ever feel bad about not posting here ever again. It's all good.
I don't know what to do about Death, to be honest.))

Violet frowned. Argent looked very normal under that mask. It was almost stranger than if he had some horrible disfigurement. "Guess that's a good enough reason to be interested." She fiddled with her jacket zipper.
Donnchad's remark gave her some pause. Well, he did look familiar, and since she couldn't quite place him herself, she just decided to believe Donnchad. "Oh, yeah, I guess I have seen you around," she said. She tried to arrange herself in a more confident posture, but she just looked uncomfortable. She hesitated for a moment when he asked her name, but finally said, "It's Violet Vanek. Nice to meet you, I guess." She rubbed the back of her neck. Argent knew things that they didn't, and now he knew what they were up to, so...
"Well, look, if you want, I guess you could help us. You need help too, right? So maybe," she glanced at Donnchad, trying to gauge his reaction, "we could work together a bit."
