welcome to greythorne. a small town on the coast of british columbia, the nearest city a three and a half hour drive away. you would never find greythorne unless you were looking for it. and even then, it's quite difficult to find. and that's the way it's inhabitants like it. greythorne has a secret. well, a secret kept only to the outer world.

for years, greythorne has been known as a safe harbour. a safe harbour for those not accepted anywhere else. for those that others would call "monsters". witches. shapeshifters. lycans. vampires. anything and everything that isn't human. anyone whose true form would make the rest of the world scream in horror.

but not in greythorne. it seems that supernatural creatures of all sorts, of all backgrounds and natures, end up in greythorne at one time or another. some stay there their entire lives. others leave in search of another safe home, while others take their chances in the real world. but greythorne is a home for everyone. something about greythorne means that humans find it practically impossible to find it, and never stay for more than a night. there is a small handful of humans in the town, those who know the secrets and are either related to or in a relationship with some of the supernatural creatures that live there.

the secrets of the town are closely held and closely protected. anyone who risks exposing the secret will be, at best, exiled, or at worst, killed. it sounds drastic but for many, whitethorne is the only place they can survive, because their secrets are too visible to be hidden from the real world. they have no chance of survival. anything that threatens the safety of its residents will be dealt with and will be dealt with severely. and everyone knows that.

but there are some who know about this town who should not. some who are determined to burn this town to the ground and destroy every monster who walks the streets. these hunters have, for hundreds of years, kept their distance. but no longer. no more. a new leader has taken their helm and he fears no town. he fears no monster.

these hunters are human, but hunting often runs in the blood. they are fast and strong and possibly the only humans that may stand a chance against these creatures. they burn with a hatred and a fear that often burned in their families before them. and they are organising. and slowly, but surely, they march on greythorne.

greythorne is aware of this threat. or, at least, the elders are. but eager to avoid panic, they deign not to tell the common person. and so, everyone goes on with their day to day lives, able to feel the slowly growing sense of dread, but unable to identify its cause. but they all know. they all know something is coming. they all know. some just choose to ignore it.

rules;

first things first, a reminder that god-modding is forbidden. god-modding typically means controlling a character without their player's permission. so when in doubt, ask. romance and violence are pretty much a given for a drama-driven rp like this, but keep it within site rules. most importantly, if things get steamy, either fade to black or bring it off site. there will be adult themes within the rp. if the content veers into uncomfortable or distressing, please PM me and we can work around it or i can ask other players to alter as necessary. please keep the drama to the ic. any issues arising among members of the rp should be dealt with over pm. reservations go in the ooc as they're easier to keep track of. real face claims only, please. characters can be as old as you like, but must be and must appear to be over 18. you have 48 hours to submit a WIP. that WIP can be a blank sheet, i just want something in to know you're still on board. you will then have 5 days after submitting your WIP to finish your character. i will grant extensions as long as you pm me. any further questions or issues, please pm me! i don't bite, promise. when reserving, i'd like your character's face claim, a 500px wide image of said face claim (don't worry if you can't find one, i'll figure something out :D), their speech colour, what type of creature they are, and a brief description (take a look at my characters for inspiration!) i'm not looking for hunters right now but may introduce them at a later stage in the story.

i have set up a discord server for chatting and discussing relationships! you aren't obliged to join, but trust me, it's so much easier when it comes to pming about relations!

ImageAurora felt a small sense of relief as Jaiden seemed to accept her words. Of course, she could still sense the distress emanating from her but Rory decided to let things be. They had all had more than a stressful night. Aurora excused herself for a small moment to change out of her clothes into more comfortable pajamas, feeling a little bit better getting the costume off. She stared at it for a moment before shoving it deep into her trash - she didn't want anything to remind her of the events that happened tonight.

Aurora brought a copy oversize t-shirt and shorts to Jaiden, just in case the witch wanted to change just as she had, also offering her friend a shower if she wanted it. It was then that she finally decided to crawl into bed, feeling comfort as her fluffy comforter swallowed her whole. She alway slept wrapped up like a little cocoon at night, for Aurora more covers equaled more comfort. It was no surprise that she found herself staring aimlessly at the ceiling as she tried to will herself to fall asleep. Aurora had always been an easy sleeper and falling asleep had never been an issue for her. Of course, after the death of her parents she struggled but this was more due to the nightmares than the restlessness. So now the feeling was unfamiliar.

Rory was slightly thankful that Jaiden was still awake as well - even if Aurora had hoped her friend faired better in trying to fall asleep. At the mention of her throat she found herself placing a hand against her neck instinctively. "A little, but it's starting to fade. I guess I don't know how I'm feeling if I really think about it" She took a tiny deep breath and closed her eyes sinking her head into the pillow. "Like, I know it's not a good feeling. I'm not really sad... I guess just empty. But that really doesn't make any sense". After a moment of silence Rory slightly propped herself up on her elbows to look at Jaiden across the room. "What are we going to do?"

At the sound of Phoenix's voice Cas felt a little bit of relief internally, but his shoulders tensed up almost immediately. His hand was firm on the doorknob and he felt his grip was so tight he might accidentally rip the thing off of its hinges. "I thought I was but- I guess I was just ignoring it. I wanted to make sure everyone else was alright first" Cas didn't lie. Of course he left out the truth as to why he was hurt, but the reasoning was honest.

"No!" Cas's voice came out harsher than he intended and he leaned his head against the doorframe, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He couldn't go to a hospital now, he didn't have enough energy to slip into anyone's head and at this point he had already dug his grave too deep. "Phoenix, I can't. I can't go to a hospital. It's too much, too much attention - too many questions - I can't" His tone came out much quieter this time, pleading, almost borderline pitiful. He was just so tired.

He clenched his fist tightly, as he glanced at the door in front of him. Phoenix just wanted to help him, and Cas was having a difficult time accepting that fact. In all honestly, Cas was scared. Terrified of what Phoenix would think of him, if he would be angry, or just repulsed. Cas liked Greythorne. It's why he couldn't leave, every time he packed and went to check out he ended up paying for another night, another week. Cas liked Phoenix. His smile, his undeniable selflessness - as reckless as it was, and that goddamn blackberry jam. And just like always, Cas was afraid of losing both of those things. He already knew where this road would lead, for him it always ended the same. Maybe that was a risk he was just going to have to take.

"Phoenix" For once his tone had no shake, no hesitancy, it wasn't necessarily calm but, collected. "I'm going to open the door but please just don't ask me anything- not now. And when we're done you can ask me anything you'd like or you can tell me to leave and I will. I'll leave and I'll never bother you or this town again" He paused and took a deep breath, "ok?" Then he let go of the doorknob and pushed it open.

Cas' reaction to the hospital made Phoenix recoil ever so slightly, the burst of force taking him aback a moment. Cas had always been so composed, and that reaction seemed... almost out of character. But Phoenix told himself to take hope in that. If Cas really didn't want a hospital, then it couldn't be that bad... right? But the anger disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, and Phoenix felt that concern settle in the pit of his stomach all over again.

"Okay. Okay, no hospitals," he promised. It was a promise he intended to keep. Cas had to have some reason for wanting to keep these wounds a secret, and while Phoenix himself didn't exactly think it was a good idea, he wasn't going to push. He wasn't going to betray that secret. If he'd learned one thing over the years, it was that people tended to have their reasons for wanting to hide. People came to Greythorne all the time in search of an escape.

There was a moment where Phoenix was shocked at how... collected Cas seemed to be, considering his outburst moments before, but given what he'd seen of Cas' character, keeping calm in a crisis shouldn't have been that much of a surprise. "Okay. No questions," Phoenix confirmed.

He didn't know what to expect as he stepped in to the bathroom. A stab wound, probably. Something... well, not normal. But as close to normal as things ever seemed to get around here. But he saw Cas' back, and he froze. It was a mess of scar tissue and of bleeding, freshly open wounds. The blood on Cas' back made Phoenix's head spin- or maybe it was just the fact that he suddenly realised he couldn't remember the last time he'd taken a breath. He forced his lungs to expand, contract, and felt his head clear ever so slightly. His mind was a whir of questions, but he remembered his promise not to ask any questions. He knew that no questions didn't mean no reaction, but he couldn't think of a way to react that didn't involve giving in to the panic that was rapidly starting to build in his chest or that didn't involve asking a million questions.

That hadn't happened in the hunter attack. That much he knew.

"I... I don't think I can-" He stammered out, before remembering his promises, and forcing himself to breathe. "I don't think we really have enough room in here, I'm standing in my own light. Can we move out to the bedroom?" He said. "I can clean it up at least, I... I don't really know how to suture but I can try, if that's what you want." The temptation to just give in to the sheer confusion, the panic, the fear that this evening had instilled in him was almost overwhelming. But once he did, there was no way he'd be able to help Cas. And right now, that needed to be his priority.

Something about the woman's reaction made Evelyn grin. Finally, someone who could match her. She still knew this woman was a threat, but she at least seemed to be fun. She had to stop herself from staring as the woman's tail turned back into legs, and she stepped out of the water. Instantly, her curiosity was piqued, and she knew that she would be back to the lake. The fact that she offered them advice unprompted didn't go unnoticed, either. This woman seemed interesting. But she was still a monster, Evelyn reminded herself. She had attacked the hunter earlier, and Evelyn wasn't foolish enough to think that it would have been a painless death.

But she nodded and went back to Markus, who remarked on the dark history of the lake. Evelyn looked at him and raised an eyebrow, but decided against asking too many questions. They didn't seem like the type of questions he wanted to answer anyway, so she just brushed herself down a little before following him in to the woods.

"You don't seem surprised that I don't want to attack humans," she remarked after a while. "Every... When I was travelling around, people seemed surprised to learn that about me. They assumed all vampires are bloodsucking monsters, and they... they looked at me differently. Why weren't you surprised?" She asked quietly as they walked, conscious to keep her voice low so that they wouldn't scare off any prey. She'd met a handful of vampires who were like her. They had been the ones who told her she could survive like this, survive off of the blood of animals instead of humans. But they'd all just looked at her sadly when she'd asked about a cure and had just advised her to get used to her new life. But goddammit, Evelyn had spent most of her adult human life trying to change things she'd been told she couldn't change, and she'd always made progress. Sometimes, she'd even succeeded. She refused to accept this life as the only one she would ever know. She would find an answer.

Jaiden looked over at Aurora as she spoke, expressing how she was feeling and that her neck did feel slightly better, but not fully. A small pit formed in her stomach as a small tang of anger washed over her. She shouldn't have left Aurora by herself, she should have taken her back with her. But she pushed her away and ran. That's all she ever did, push people away and leave them. She was a coward, and she knew that deep down. She could never stop blaming herself for being such a coward, one that would hurt people, or cause others to be hurt. A small flame flickered in the palm of her hand for a few short moments before ceasing. She needed to regain control over her emotions and not let them overflow and consume her. It's what the voice wanted after all. Taking a deep breath, and slowly sighing as she opened her eyes again as thoughts swirled in her mind. She understood how Aurora felt, all too well. "After my parents died-" she began before taking another deep inhale, feeling her lungs inflate and then contract as she exhaled. She needed to accept the truth, otherwise, she would never get over it, and she knew she never would otherwise. "After they were murdered, I felt...empty and confused. they died, and my sister was almost killed as well...I felt empty and hallow for a while after that, sometimes still do. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I understand how you feel. A little too well." she said with a fake smile and chuckle as she combed her hand through her messy hair, sighing as she laid back for a moment until sitting up once more as Aurora had asked what they were going to do.

She hadn't really thought it through that much. The thought never crossed her mind, it was to simply get out of there and make sure everyone was okay. She never once thought about what to do after. It obviously wasn't safe anymore out there like it used to. Knowing that the Hunters were still out there, somewhere. It wouldn't be safe to go out anymore by yourself and keep strangers at a distance now. "I haven't really thought about that. I was too worried making sure everyone was okay. But, I guess, just be safe? it's too dangerous to be by ourselves anymore. At least not for long periods of time. I know not everyone can protect themselves like others can...But I guess that's we're here for, to make sure others are safe.." she said softly, a shadow of a smile on her face for simply a moment. "We'll figure it out. It'll just take some time is all." she said as she finally laid down on the bed, pulling the blankets up to her chest and sighed softly. They'd have to make sure the others were okay tomorrow and keep an extra eye out for any unknown people that could possibly hold a threat.

Markus' head turned when Evelyn began asking questions, once again as she always did. It was always questions with her, and honestly, he wasn't upset with it. The more questions she had, the more she could learn and not get herself killed as fast as she would otherwise. He nodded at her question as they spoke quietly, making sure to not only scare away any animals, but as to not gain any unwanted attention. He sighed and nodded as he finally spoke, "I've known, many vampires throughout the years...Many, prefer to drink human blood. As well, technically that's how they're designed. It's how us Lycans are made to function. But some, like you and me retain our humanity." he said softly, "Or at least we try to.." he said with a long sigh. He had his moments of where he attacked people, even was one of the causes for people going missing in Greythorne when he first arrived to the small town. "Besides, not everyone that's like us are monsters. We're people, just different, and some try to remain as human as we can, like us." he said with a small smile as he bumped her shoulder as they walked.

After a little while of walking he turned to her and sighed, "I saw the look you gave me back there. I know you wanted to ask but chose not to." he said as he took a sigh, if Evelyn was as smart as she tended to be, she would have picked up on the signs. The way he didn't say what happened, and why. But it should have been obvious to a certain degree. "That's the lake where...Where Violet's body was found. I was the one that found her." he said rather coldly and solemnly. It was a topic he chose to avoid at all costs, but she needed to know. "No one usually goes there as a sign or respect for her resting place. Her family used to live here, but it grew to be too much and they left. Aside from her grandmother, who...Isn't doing very well." he said with a sigh. If anyone could believe it, he had a heart, and even had a soft spot for the girl and her family. After he spoke he found his eyes scanning the area, as his ears twitched for any sign of animals, "What kind of prey are we looking for? What size? What suits you best?"

Oliver found his shoulders relaxing as Alex seemed to enjoy his comment about the tail. The small moment of relief, as brief as it was, felt good after a night of horror. He found his gaze in other places than Alex as he began peeling off his outer layers of his costume. As his mother told him - it was rude to stare. Granted, working at her clinic he'd seen more than he'd ever liked to.

Oliver nodded as Alex essentially asked him for time alone. He couldn't blame him, even Ollie was still feeling the effects of the evening and nothing sounded better than a hot shower and cold sheets. Call it odd, but Oliver was perhaps less distressed than most. His entire life had been taking care of some of the most stressful situations involving supernaturals and humans alike so he had become quite adept at controlling his emotions. Sadly, Oliver could only explain it as he had become desensitized to the horrors around him. Working in the clinic since a child he had encountered the terrible things that befell supernaturals, the horrors of what hunters would do. It plagued him for years but as he got older he just got used to it. Nothing surprised him.

He had made it to the open door when he heard Alex's voice falter, shake, and quit altogether. Oliver turned around his breath slightly catching in his throat as he watched the man break in front of him. For a brief moment he stood there in the doorway, like a deer stuck in headlights. In truth, he had no idea what to do. Normally at the clinic his mother dealt with the more emotionally distressed patients, leaving Oliver with a complete lack of experience in the comforting department. A small part of him wanted to leave, close the door, quietly slip out, what help would he be anyway? But he couldn't.

Oliver moved across the room just as Alex sank to the floor, and Ollie truly felt his heart ache. He'd seen this look, these tears in so many before - so why was seeing them in Alex so different? He felt himself kneeling down next to Alex and for a moment his reached his hand out, and watched it hover over the man's shoulder. Was that okay? He remembered he always felt better when he was little when his mother wrapped him in her arms, singing him a Narthalarian lullaby, while she wiped the tears from his face. Yet, he barely knew Alex but at this point did that even matter?

Oliver took a small breath and placed his hand on Alex's shoulder carefully, then the other and slowly pulled the him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around him gingerly, almost as if he was afraid that if he squeezed too hard Alex might break in his arms. "Don't apologize, you never have to apologize" His voice came out at the level of a whisper. Oliver didn't say anything else, he felt there was nothing that could be said in a moment like this and instead just focused on Alex.

Alex didn't know what to expect- and wasn't expecting anything, to be honest- but he didn't exactly expect a hug. Oliver hardly knew him, and the one and only time they'd met before this nightmare of an evening had not been an ideal interaction for either of them. But here they were. For a moment, Alex didn't react other than to rest his head against Oliver; it wasn't long, though, before Alex returned the hug, grabbing a handful of Oliver's shirt as he cried into the fabric.

He let all the fear and the trauma of the night wash over him in the form of tears and sobbing, hoping beyond hope that he could let it out and be done with it. But he felt an all-too-familiar chill, and he knew that it wouldn't be that simple. It never was. There they were: old, malevolent spirits, coming around again to feast on the tears and agony of the living. Of course they were here, they were never far from pain and suffering. They circled the room, drinking it in, letting it make the stronger, keep them rooted in the world. Alex understood it better than he ever had before; everyone needed something to keep them grounded in this world, some were just less pleasant than others.

After a few moments, Alex was able to take in a long, unsteady breath. He sat up straight, pulling back from Oliver's embrace, but he kept a hand settled on the other man's shoulder, almost as if to steady himself. He sat there for a moment, silently staring at a corner of the room. His eyes hurt, and his head was swimming with thoughts of everything he should- and shouldn't- say, how he shouldn't have started crying like that in front of Oliver. He was a little embarrassed, but mostly relieved. "I, uh," his voice was still raw, emotional, as if he might start crying again at any moment, "Thanks." He stared into Oliver's eyes for a moment, maybe longer than appropriate. He couldn't quite find the words to really express what he was feeling, "I almost died tonight." The words sounded strange, felt foreign on his tongue. He licked his lips, and found himself fighting the very real urge to kiss Oliver; he really didn't think it would be appreciated.

Instead, he let Oliver go, wiped his face dry the best he could, and he sighed. "Things are never going to be quite the same around here, are they?" He wasn't really looking for an answer; he didn't need one. He knew that so many people in town, himself included, wouldn't be able to live their lives quite the same way again. His mind briefly wandered to his friends, to Aurora, knowing that some of them had been hurt. He had to wonder if they would've gotten out alright if they hadn't rushed to help him. He tried to push the thoughts from his head, but they unfortunately persisted. They weren't words he would willingly speak aloud, but they were there all the same.

Another thought popped into his head, one that he spoke before he had the sense to think it through, "Shit. You're never going to fuck me now, are you?"

ImageAurora's face fell slightly as Jaiden mentioned her family. She knew the witch had lost her parents but never knew the full intent to her past. So it was true, Jaiden did know how Aurora was feeling. Her emptiness felt very much like it did those months after losing her family but Aurora often never brought that up - only when she had to. That was a part of her life she still wanted to run from but with everything that had happened tonight she wondered if it was just beginning to catch up.

Aurora found herself nodding along with Jaiden's words, which for the most part she agreed completely with. At the mention of friends, her mind instantly jumped to Alex - how was he? She could only hope that Oliver was taking care of him. Aurora had pretty much blocked it out due to the stress and chaoticness of the situation but she was worried for her friend. The brief moment she had brushed her hand across his head she felt it. Like small little tendrils of darkness creeping up around her hand, and her heart began to flutter. Fear. Aurora wasn't surprised, everyone was terrified, but it was a different kind of fear - it was darker, and stronger. And Phoenix. He had run off with a stranger in the night and whose to say that snow-haired man wasn't dangerous too? She breathed an audible sigh from her lips and sifted under the covers rubbing her eyes slightly. "I hope so Jaiden, I really do" But deep down Aurora was worried that things may never be the same again.

Cas instantly regretted opening the door when he saw the look on Phoenix's face. It was enough to make him bolt past the man and out the door into the night. He knew right then and there that Phoenix was never going to look at him the same. Cas couldn't understand why he thought any of this would ever be okay. Phoenix wasn't a doctor, nor did he even know anything about Cas when he really thought about it. If anything Cas wouldn't have been surprised if he had kicked him out right then and there, especially after everything that happened. The small moment of silence nearly killed him as his eyes frantically bounced around the room to anywhere but Phoenix, he couldn't look at him as he was terrified to see his face. For once Cas tried everything to block out what Phoenix was thinking - he didn't want to know.

Cas was shocked when he finally spoke up and instead of asking him to leave instead asked him to move. He finally locked eyes with the witch and for a moment found himself frozen in thought before he finally shook his head slightly as if to clear his mind. Phoenix was actually going to help him, of course he was. "O-Of course" Cas stammered as he took a step past Phoenix carefully, as he was in the middle of the doorway, the angel made sure to not touch him. He didn't want to scare him anymore than he already had. When he took a step into the bedroom he took a deep breath, running a few hands through his hair to distract him from the fact that they were trembling. Everything about the bedroom was perfect. The bed was made, it smelled faintly of lavender, and there was even a decorative throw across the edge of the bed. Everything about Cas was chaotic from the translucent sheen of his skin to the large tears in his back. He didn't belong here. Cas again was terrified to touch anything, afraid of leaving even the smallest stain on Phoenix's life. So he found himself standing in the middle of the room, a lost expression on his face.

He turned back to Phoenix realizing that the witch had been speaking to him, but he wasn't really processing the words. "I'm sorry-" It was a little to late for that. "If you could just... if you could just clean it and I could bandage it. At least to stop the bleeding" He felt wrong to ask Phoenix for something, guilty almost. Phoenix owed him nothing. A strange sensation overtook Cas, nothing like he'd ever felt before. The angel could feel his heart pounding in his head, and felt it took every ounce of his will just to breath. "I'm sorry" He repeated taking a small step backwards from Phoenix, the effort to push the words out causing it to sound more like a wheeze.

Phoenix just nodded as Cas said to clean it and he'd bandage it. Phoenix took one look at Cas' face, how he seemed to be even paler than normal. "Hold on," he said, disappearing back out to the sitting room. He retrieved Cas' tea and a cookie, heading back down in to the bedroom. "Here. Drink your tea. And sit," he ordered, before disappearing back in to the bathroom to get a damp cloth. He sat cross-legged on the bed behind Cas. "I'll be as gentle as I can," he promised.

He started with the damp cloth, gently wiping away the blood that had smeared around the wound. This was the most surreal thing he had ever done. It felt like a dream, or perhaps that was the shock of the whole thing. It also had occurred to him that this was the first time in a while he'd had a shirtless guy in his room, and this was not how he had imagined it. He had to stop himself from laughing at the absurdity of it all. "Okay. It's looking a little less gory now, but I'm just going to give it a quick clean with an alcohol wipe, okay?" He started wiping gently at the wound, wondering what had done this. It... didn't look like any weapon Phoenix had ever seen.

"Cas... I know, no questions. But... whatever did this? Whatever you're running from? You don't need to run any more. I know... after tonight, it's hard to believe it. But... this is a safe place for people like us. We dealt with them tonight, and we'll deal with them again. We'll protect you. No matter what." He finished with the alcohol wipe, and pulled the bandage out of the first aid kit. "All done. I can help wrap it, you don't want to pull the wound too much. He carefully started wrapping the wound, passing it around to Cas to wrap from the front. When it was done, he moved around to sit beside Cas. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked, a genuine question. He had so many questions; but if Cas didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't force it.

It was oddly comforting to hear Markus' experiences. To know that there was a monster fighting inside him too, and that he was winning. It gave her hope. Hope that, if she really was condemned to this life, she could at least maintain her humanity. She already considered herself a monster, but she refused to become a murderer. She was still a person. She wouldn't lose that, she promised herself.

She frowned as Markus heard the story about the lake. She wanted to ask more questions, but knew that now mightn't be the right time. This was a different, softer side to Markus, one that endeared him a little to her, and she liked seeing it. She didn't want to ruin it by possibly making him grumpy again. "You really look after her, don't you?" She remarked, smiling at him. However, at the mention of prey, she shifted slightly, shifted in to hunting mode.

"Something... big, but not too big. I think..." She fell silent, listening. "Deer. Up ahead." She broke into a sprint, knowing she was leaving Markus behind and smiling at that thought. A stag practically ran out in front of her and she attacked, killing it as quickly as she could. This was then when she had to let the monster win as she fed. She hadn't realised how thirsty she had been until now, now that she started to drink. There was something vaguely intoxicating about this feeling, and it was almost terrifying.

She finished feeding, and wiped her face, conscious of how bloody she had to be. She took a deep breath, feeling herself shift back to... well, herself. She turned to look at Markus. "Do you need to feed?" She asked. "Sorry, I... don't really know how the whole... Lycan thing works."

Oliver was frankly terrified at first, he wasn't sure if the hug was awkward or he had overstepped some invisible boundary that was in place. Still he didn't move from the hug and when he felt Alex finally give into him he relaxed in turn pulling him closer into the hug. So he sat in place, for as long as Alex needed. In a way it was comforting to Oliver, though he wasn't crying on the outside deep down he was exhausted mentally - and being this close to someone was, comforting.

When Alex finally pulled away some part of Oliver was sad, although he ignored it. His eyes were red and puffy and his dark curly hair had become smushed down where his head had been pressed against Oliver's chest. Ollie had never seen him look so vulnerable in the brief time they had known each other. When Alex finally met his gaze, there was a brief moment of silence after his words. "Almost" Ollie repeated quietly as he found himself staring into the witch's brown orbs for an awkward amount of time before he was finally the first one to break contact staring at the ground.

Ollie noticed the change in tension amongst the room as Alex let him go and they put a few more inches between them. "They never are" Oliver said quietly in response, although it wasn't much of an answer and more of a comment. He had seen it first hand many times. Normally his family were always there in the days after, perhaps the toughest in his mind. Ollie noticed the undeniable change in the eyes of those around him in those towns. Haunting, broken, lost. People locked doors, moved, at night they practically became ghost towns. He could only hope Greythorne fared better than those before it.

Oliver had just begun to stand up, as his mother briefly popped back into his mind when a particularly racy sentence tumbled out of Alex's mouth. One that made not only his ears turn almost as red as his hair but one that made his heart race. Oliver had a strange urge to laugh, though it was definitely one of the many inappropriate responses to the situation. Instead, he kept a rather neutral expression - he was amazing at it - although the corner of his mouth subtly twitched into a smile. This was the Alex that had showed up in his clinic last week. A small part of Oliver was relieved that he had regained some of himself back after nearly dying a few hours before. "Goodnight Alex" He said rather cooly before making his way to the door, closing it quietly. Ollie hadn't even realized he had been holding his breath until he felt the click of the knob and he leaned his back against the door already feeling the flush of color to his cheeks. He took a few moments to regain his composure before pushing off heading towards the clinic doors. A sudden thought popped into his head. Oliver didn't say yes, he didn't say no either.

Markus had smirked slightly at her comment about what he said, that he seemingly looked after her. He remained silent, simply nodding as his reply, he was there for Violet just as much as she was there for him. Even before her death they were close, and only grew closer after that tragic event, but Evelyn didn't need to know that, not now anyway. He shook his head as he regained his thoughts, now wasn't the time for that, especially now when Evelyn spoke, breaking the silence that hung in the air for a few moments. He looked at her when she stated she wanted something big, but not too big of prey to go after. He figured something like a deer would do, and as if right on cue, the scent of a deer crossed their paths. A grin formed on his face, and before he could even open his mouth to say anything, Evelyn spoke and took off like a rocket from where the scent was coming from. He watched as with simple ease and grace the young vampire lunged at the target, grappling it to the ground in one simple motion and began feeding off of the animal, its life force quickly being snuffed out as the scent of blood pierced his nostrils.

He silently stood a few feet away from her as Evelyn had her fill from the deer, avoiding to look at the grizzly scene that took place infront of him. He wasn't disturbed by it or unnerved, he simply was giving her the privacy and respect she'd need. He knew what it was like, to feel like a monster and stood by until the vampire was done, by simply asking him if he needed anything now that she was done, and that her hunger for blood was filled. Markus gave her a kind smile creased his lips before he spoke, "I'm fine. But thank you, Evelyn." he said with a small smile as the two began to walk away, removing the hat he gripped it by the edge as they walked. "I uhm, don't exactly follow Lycan customs...Typically, they feed off of people, animals, or other supernatural creatures. But me, I'm not like the others." he said with a bit of a small sigh as he looked down for a moment, before looking back up at the path that they were blindly following. "I try to be as human as I possibly can...Let's just say you're not the only one that hates how they are.." Markus said softly with of a small tone of bitterness filled his voice. He never really outwardly spoke about how he felt towards the Lycan folk, but he always made it clear that he never liked it.

ImageCas wrung his hands nervously as Phoenix asked him to wait, his mind reeling as to what he could possibly be getting. A rather strange expression overtook his face as of all things Phoenix came back with his tea and cookie placing it into his hands, ordering him to sit on the bed. He took a few moments staring hopelessly between the tea to the witch before nodding and allowing himself to sit down. It was surprisingly comfortable and he made sure to sit as close to the edge as possible.

"Okay" Cas had never heard himself sound so hopeless, so quiet. He took a quiet deep breath as he tried to calm his nerves, taking a small sip of the tea relishing the he instantly felt color flush to his cheeks. So he sat, quietly, as Phoenix began to gently clean out his scars - or what had become of them. A few seconds he would let out a sharp gasp as the cloth brushed over a specifically tender spot, murmuring a slight "sorry" for no reason other than he didn't want Phoenix to think he was hurting him in any way. Cas nodded to the small warning griping the soft cloth of the comforter as he felt the familiar stinging sensation of alcohol along his back. He grit his teeth and closed his eyes as he focused on breathing out of his nose. From being desensitized to pain for so long, even the slightest sensation was tough for him to endure.

His eyes opened as Phoenix's voice spoke from behind him, every word bearing more weight on to his shoulders. It was something he'd always wanted to hear but they didn't settle with him like he always thought they did because as he thought more about it, the answer practically swallowed him whole. He did this to himself, and he had been running from his choices ever since. Maybe he was just embarrassed by that fact - ashamed of it.

So he stayed quiet, his head hung rather low as he passed the bandage back and forth until Phoenix had secured it tightly. Cas felt the bed shift as Phoenix moved to sit beside him, that expression of worry in his gaze making Cas's heart wrench. Even after everything Phoenix still cared about how he was doing, maybe even more than himself. It was something he couldn't quite wrap his head around, or possibly he just refused to believe that it was true. He suddenly found that he couldn't meet Phoenix's gaze as he instead settled on a small loose string of the comforter. "Phoenix, I-" He paused his face pent up in a mixture of emotions as he let out a deep breath meeting the witch's gaze. "Thank you. For helping me and, and for the tea. I just-" This time he was clearly wracked with frustration as he couldn't figure out how to get the right words out. "I think it would be best to get some rest. Tonight was something no one can just take in stride and I think you - we both would benefit from some sleep" He instinctively took Phoenix's hand in both of his and gave it a small comforting squeeze, "tomorrow morning you can make some of that jam and we can talk, okay? I promise" He felt a small bit of himself return as smiled softly. At Phoenix's offer to sleep on the couch, Cas was frankly too exhausted to say no. So he found himself laying on the couch, the living room was quiet and dark but the warm haze from a lamp in the corner cast a comforting glow over the room. He had laid himself stomach down on the couch as his scars where still tender and sore. Cas was a little to big for the couch and his arm hung off the side his fingers grazing the carpet. Instead of thinking about the night he instead closed his eyes and willed himself to sleep. He knew the longer he thought about it the more he would begin to regret everything he had done.

Phoenix would have been lying if he said that he wasn't disappointed that Cas agreed to tell him... what was happening. But he could see it in his face that Cas really, really didn't want to talk about it. And he wasn't going to push it. Not after the night they'd just had. Cas taking his hands was such a genuine, almost surprising gesture, and it almost took him aback. But he appreciated it, not realising how much he needed the physical contact. And, to be honest, the thought of sleep was incredibly tempting right now. But he didn't want to just let Cas go. He couldn't. So instead, he offered his couch and his coziest blanket, leaving a change of clothes to hand if Cas wanted it.

The minute Phoenix was alone in his bedroom, everything seemed to catch up with him. Alex bleeding out, the carnage of the attack, those scars on Cas' back. He didn't cry or panic or outwardly react. He had no idea how he didn't do any of those things, but instead, he found himself lying awake in bed, staring at the ceiling. He found himself texting the others, making sure they were okay, apologising for leaving, promising baked goods as an apology, anything to occupy his time and his brain.

He must have fallen asleep with the phone in his hand. He didn't notice himself falling asleep, only found himself waking up with the light streaming across the room. He hadn't planned on opening today anyway and was glad for that, because his limbs felt heavy and his mind felt groggy. But he was awake, and he knew sleep was completely out of reach. So instead, he showered and got changed. He'd almost forgotten about Cas until he walked back out in to the living area. Assuming that he was still asleep, Phoenix was as quiet as he could be. He was so used to being by himself that having to be mindful of other people was a strange experience. He usually blared whatever mid-2000's rock/emo playlist was suggested to him that day when he cooked or baked, but that morning, he made the pancake mix in relative silence. He found himself idly humming as he started to make the blackberry sauce though.

Evelyn didn't need sleep, not any more. It was more a habit than anything, a way of passing the daylight hours. But this morning, she decided not to sleep away the daylight. Instead, she layered up, pulling on a pair of gloves to cover her hands and the biggest hat she could find to cover her face. She pulled on a pair of aviator sunglasses and headed out in to town. She was so used to the hustle and bustle of big cities that she found it strange how late everything opened here. Or maybe that was just the day after the festival. Or the day after everything that had happened. The smell of blood still lingered in the air, but fainter now, more bearable.

She found herself helping to clear up a destroyed stall. Masks from the night before lay covered in splinters, still wearable but tainted by the events of the night before, so much so that she was sure nobody would ever wear them. Still, she carefully cleaned them off as well as she could and stacked them into the box. The hunters hadn't just tried to kill them. They'd enjoyed the destruction, ruined people's lives. This wasn't as much about trying to eliminate them as it was asserting dominance, striking fear in to their hearts.

Which meant that this was only the beginning. Evelyn knew they could be expecting something else. Maybe more subtle murders. Maybe another mass attack. Evelyn would have been lying if she said that the thought of leaving, of finding somewhere safer, hadn't occurred to her. But... she didn't want to. It was that simple. Markus was the closest thing she had to a friend right now. She knew he'd protect her, so abandoning him didn't sit right with her. Not after their discussion about their humanity. And so... she would stay and fight alongside them and help them clean up the mess when they won. And then she would decide what to do next.

Alex didn't sleep much, that night. He took a shower shortly after Oliver left the room, glad to wash the smells of blood, death, and chocolate off of himself. He tried his best to sleep, but every time he closed his eyes, a multitude of ghosts seemed to be waiting for him, beckoning him forward, eagerly awaiting him. Every unexpected noise (and there were many, being in such an unfamiliar place), or unknown shape (there were plenty, being without reliable glasses) startled him, as he if expected someone to jump out from behind any given piece of furniture to finish him off. He left the lights on all night; it was irrational, but it made him feel safer. He made sure to call his grandmother, clue her in to his changed plans. She wasn't particularly thrilled (and he hadn't been completely honest), but at least she wouldn't worry. Enough people were worrying about Alex, he was sure of that.

When he finally did sleep, he had nightmares. Running for his life though the streets of Flagstaff, Arizona, from something he couldn't see, but was just behind him. When he woke, the realization that he hadn't visited his mother in years hit him, and he felt like crying. He wasn't sure if he was ready for the last conversation with his mother to be the last they'd had: yelling at each other about how selfish they were. He checked his phone, though it wasn't the most fun with half a pair of glasses. He didn't know what he'd hoped for, but a text from Phoenix wasn't it. The message made Alex feel like he'd missed something, but then again, Alex didn't remember most of what had happened the night before. Be it trauma, or the fact that he'd spent most of it in some sort of incorporeal form, but Alex only really remembered meeting Cas, and then crying in Oliver's arms. Everything between was a blur. He ignored the text, deciding to revisit it later, when he felt more like himself. When that would be, he didn't know.

He sat around for a long while, trying to decide just what he was going to do. He briefly considered trying to slip out and go home, but the entire point of being at the clinic was so that Oliver- and, Alex assumed, Oliver's mother- could keep an eye on him. He doubted he could pull it off, anyway. He decided to get up, face the day, and potentially a handful of virtual to literal strangers. He became aware a a faint throbbing in his head, it had probably been there the entire time, but he hadn't noticed it until he stood up. "Fucking ghosts..." He mumbled to himself, almost as if to prove he had a voice. To prove he was still himself. He paused at the door before leaving the room, he didn't know why, but he felt entirely unprepared. For what, he couldn't tell you. The knowledge that he was already behind on his daily water consumption was, ultimately, what got him through the door, and on his way to where he thought the kitchen was.

Eventually, Markus and Evelyn had parted ways after a few more minutes of conversation, it was rather simple things, nothing really of note. Markus found himself slowly walking back by himself to his home, alone. Everything seemed enhanced and louder than it normally was, it was only then that he realized he hadn't eaten, and the pain of hunger began to wane on him. A small smile creased his lips when he remembered that he had a snack waiting for him, and he couldn't wait to sink his teeth into it. As hours passed he cleaned up the basement of any remnants of anything, no sign of anyone being there was a good thing. He had gotten out of his stupid costume and tossed it into the hole in the back of his house that he dug, finding himself taking a deep sigh as he buried a few other things as well. He showered and changed into a simple outfit, a plane gray t-shirt and sweatpants as he sat down by his fireplace and read a few chapters in one of the books he was reading as he sipped some freshly made tea. He was trying his best to ignore what was going on, but he knew that it was no longer safe in Greythorne, he made sure it was a little more safe as he made damn well sure to take care of that Hunter, which he made swift work of him.

But as the moon came up and he could feel himself slowly growing tired he retreated to his room and fell asleep, dreams of horror and his passed always plagued him, and this night was no different. Morning came all too soon, and after getting some coffee and changing his clothes, he decided he'd go back to the town and help clean up, god knows how it'd need to be fixed back up to its proper order. He found himself casually walking down the ever empty streets, seeing how no one really wanted to come out of their homes in fear of it happening again. He saw the all too familiar bright blue-ish green hair of a familiar face, cleaning up the area as the person picked things up and moved the bigger structures out of the way. Markus walked up to her slowly and helped clean up as he held a few things in his arms, "Morning. I figured I'd see you here." he said with a small smile as he looked at the vampire.

Jaiden found herself sighing and nodding at Aurora's hope of things returning to normal, they all wanted things to go back to how they were, but with how things had gone to shit so quickly in such a quick amount of time, she wasn't entirely sure anymore. But after changing into the PJ's that Aurora offered her, she flopped back into the bed and quickly drifted off to sleep. But as she expected, her dreams weren't dreams, but nightmares instead. Memories of her past events, they were only enhanced and more common now after the events of that night. If she was lucky, she wouldn't have been too pestering in her sleep for the poor fae that shared the room with her, but more often than not, Jaiden was told that she tended to sleep talk as well as flinch and full-on move-in her sleep. But as morning came, the sun piercing through the window she groaned as she slowly opened her eyes, soaking in the light. For a moment she didn't realize where she was and began to panic, until she slowly remembered that she was simply at a friend's house, as she saw that Aurora was still in her bed. She sighed softly as she combed her fingers through the mess of hair, as her mind raced. It was already morning, and who knows what today had in store for them. For all they knew, walking outside could be a death-sentence, nevermind being by one's self.

But seeing as Aurora was still asleep, Jaiden thought she'd help her friend out and make a small surprise for her, she quickly and softly got out of her bed and tiptoed down the stairs and into the main part of the small apartment. She didn't know exactly what she was looking for, but she decided she'd tidy up the place a little, putting things back where she belonged and cleaned up which didn't take long as Aurora kept her place rather clean and neat, which didn't surprise the young witch much. Next on her mind was preparing them breakfast, after a small gander through her fridge she found a few things that she could put together for a modest breakfast. After another twenty to thirty minutes, she had an array of pancakes, french toast, and coffee freshly made and set out on the table, figuring the smell would help wake up Aurora sooner than later. She just hoped it'd be enough and tasted better than she hoped, the last thing she wanted to do was start off Aurora's day with a poorly made breakfast.

ImageAurora’s dreams were more or less nightmares and she woke up several times in the night with her heart in her throat and her fingers clutching the sheets with a death grip. It was after the fourth time that she woke up when she decided that there was no point in trying to go back to sleep and instead settled for staring at her ceiling in an attempt to empty her mind. It was then that by about four in the morning that her body finally gave into it’s tiredness and she succumbed to the coziness of her blankets and drifted off.

When the sun finally shone through her curtains painting her bed in a plethora of sunshine Aurora opened her eyes. Her mother always used to tell her that she was simply making things up but Rory had always believed that the sunshine made her stronger. Nothing made her feel better than basking in the warm glow of the sun and she liked to think of herself as a plant. So she sat there for a moment letting the rays warm her skin before she propped herself up on her elbows to glance around her room. The heavy weight that had been placed on her chest last night had somewhat subsided but she could still feel the fear creep up in the back of her throat just hovering there like a burden. Her heart began to beat a little bit faster as she noticed the empty blankets across the room and she hurried out of bed peering in the bathroom. Also empty. “Jaiden?” She called quietly, wringing her hands nervously as she crept quietly down the stairs a look of confusion crossing over her face as the smell of pancakes and syrup became apparent.

Aurora was shocked to not only see that her place had been cleaned to near spotlessness but there was an entire breakfast buffet placed out before her. The fae’s heart melted. Her eyes instantly spotted her friend just as she was placing out a glass of orange juice on to the table and she finished the last five steps in two as she made her way over to the table. “Jaiden - what… this looks amazing. You didn’t have to do this you know! I- I would’ve helped you if you had just woken me up” Aurora felt of tinge of guilt for not aiding in any part of the food making, but that was just how she treated everything that was given to her.

Cas didn’t dream - angels never dreamed. In fact, he technically didn’t need to sleep either but curled up on Phoenix’s couch the angel slept like a rock. His hand hung off of the couch his fingertips just barely brushing the carpet below. Cas looked peaceful. Even Phoenix’s stirring didn’t awake him, and instead it came from the faint humming in the kitchen. He rolled over slightly, blinking his eyes open as they adjusted to the newfound light pouring into the room from the windows around him. The humming drifting into the living room from the kitchen brought the faintest of smiles to his lips yet he also realized in perhaps the same moment that he wasn’t in his apartment. It took him a second for the night before to flood his thoughts and he jerked up suddenly on the couch, wincing slightly as the scars on his back were still tender. Phoenix. Suddenly a multitude of thoughts came crashing back, the festival, the hunters, the gentle way Phoenix had patched him up, and his patience. A small sigh escaped his lips and he ran a careful hand through his hair. Cas had hoped that a night of sleep might help him clear his mind, make rational decisions. If anything it just made him more confused.

However, the second the smell of blackberries wafted in his mind was set. Probably not the greatest of determining factors but - for now it would suffice. Cas pushed himself up into a sitting position stretching his arms slightly trying to determine the real damage to his shoulders. They were still sore and stiff but he could already tell the pain had begun to fade. Almost like a cruel little trick, they’d let him suffer and then eventually his healing would kick in. Cas had just begin to patch them up as the scars healed less garish that way. As he glanced down he frowned noticing how disheveled he looked. His top half was bare save for the bandages wrapped around his torso and his nicer pants were wrinkled from sleeping in them. Cas was in desperate need of a shower. He followed the path he remembered the other day, hoping not to intrude to much into Phoenix’s private living space eventually making his way to the bathroom. His snow-blonde hair had changed from it’s normal gelled look into more curls atop his head, probably from being smashed up against a pillow all night. There was definitely a visible wear to his face - he looked tired. After a few moments of searching Cas managed to find the roll of gauze and carefully reapplied his bandages so that they were clean and for good measure splashed some cold water on his face.

He found himself following the humming and the smell of food around the hall into the kitchen. Phoenix had his back turned to him as the witch was busy mixing a fresh jar of blackberry jam. A small smile appeared on Cas’s face as he watched him work for a few seconds before making his presence known. “Goodmorning” He spoke cooly making his way over to Phoenix peering over his shoulder (which wasn’t much of an issue as Cas was a few inches taller) to see what he was doing. Instantly his senses were overcome with the sickly sweet smell of the jam and his eyes lit up like a child on Christmas. A mischievous grin appeared on his face and he quickly reached around Phoenix dipping a finger in the jam before popping in into his mouth with a laugh. He took a few steps back away from the counter as if he was afraid Phoenix might thwack him with a wooden spoon. “How is it that it tastes even better than usual?”

After leaving Alex in the guest bedroom Oliver had gone back to the clinic to assist his mother. And what a night it had been. His mother and father still had their hands full on the floor and there was still a considerable amount of people still needing care. So without much word to his parents Oliver began to work. By the time Ollie had finally retired back to his room his clock read 2:00AM and he was completely drained. The second his head hit the pillow he was out and he slept like a rock the rest of the night.

Even with the stressful night before Oliver was still an early riser. Four hours of sleep and he was up by six and in the shower. His hair was still slightly damp as he got dressed, making it even curlier than normal. By the time he had finally gotten ready it was already seven and as he passed the closed guest bedroom door in the hallway he paused for a brief moment. Ollie contemplated waking Alex up or at least knocking, but decided it was better to let him have all of the sleep he needed. So instead, Oliver made his way into the kitchen and indulged himself with his favorite pastime: cooking. After living with his parents for quite some time Ollie had picked up more than enough from his mother and while he might not have been the greatest of cooks, he could sure make a good meal.

He worked quietly and diligently and in about a quarter til eight had made a traditional American breakfast for Alex as well as some grilled tomatoes and eggs for himself. As he was checking on the tea he was brewing he heard noise behind him and turned sharply, his shoulders easing up as he saw Alex standing in the doorway of the kitchen. A small appeared on Ollie’s face as he grabbed Alex’s plate filled with food placing it on the table in front of them. “Good Morning. I hope you slept alright?” It wasn’t much of a statement as it was a question. Instinctively Ollie moved closer not even giving him a chance to interject before he placed a hand gently on his forehead closing his eyes. It was how his mother taught him to give check-ups to patient after particularly harrowing injuries or procedures. He felt no tug or residual pull of his magic - all good things. Oliver opened them his hand lingering slightly before realizing how terribly awkward this might be. His cheeks flushed slightly and he quickly brought his hand down to his side taking a half step backwards. “Sorry, I -uh was just making sure everything was alright. You’re feeling okay though? No headache? No tail?” Ollie added on the last bit as more of a joke, and the corner of his mouth twitched up in a smile.

“Oh and I made you breakfast. I didn’t really know what you liked so I kind of just made… everything?” He gestured to the plate sitting on the table. “Tea will be ready in a few but I know you’re more of a black coffee kind of guy so I have some of that as well” Oliver’s sentence seemed harmless enough but a small look of confusion passed over his face. “I mean, I didn’t know - I just assumed… Anyway, you better eat before my father finds out I’ve made food without him”.

Phoenix heard Cas moving up and around, but was mostly too engrossed in his cooking to pay any attention. Well. He was processing the evening and attempting to use the cooking to take his mind off of things. He shouldn't have left.He shouldn't have left Alex like that. But he'd just been... so afraid. He hadn't been thinking straight. He had felt so powerless. And he'd let that get the better of him. Dear God, Alex's abuela was going to kill him if she found out.

He jumped a little at Cas' voice behind him and grinned as he felt his presence behind him. He caught a glimpse of the mischievous look on Cas' face before Cas reached over to swipe some jam. Phoenix went to swat him away with the tea towel but found himself laughing. It was only then that he looked at Cas properly. Cas was still shirtless, just the bandages wrapped around his chest, and his usually perfect hair was curly, a softer, more gentler look. He found himself blushing almost, before turning back to the jam and pancakes. "Always better when it's straight out of the saucepan," he remarked with a smirk. He plated up a few of the pancakes, still warm, and tipped a few spoons of the jam over them before handing the plate to Cas and plating up some of his own.

"Did you sleep okay?" He asked as he sat down at the table. "How's your back?" He asked. And now that he'd mentioned it, all the questions he'd had from the night before came rushing back. Something like that had been brutal and damaging and on a selfish note, Phoenix just found himself hoping that whatever had happened to Cas wouldn't be coming for them. Not after last night. But he wasn't going to push Cas on it either.

Evelyn just grinned as she heard a familiar voice behind him, handing him one of the larger pieces of debris. "Morning. And, well, I wasn't exactly up to anything else," she responded, getting to her feet and brushing her hands on her jeans. She sighed, looking around. "And, well, I couldn't do much to help last night. But I can help now," she said. She felt guilty, and she didn't know why. This wasn't her town, wasn't her home. She shouldn't care so much. But she felt like she should have done something given that the knowledge that they'd had, even if they hadn't known the full extent.

"We need to do something, Markus. Something to... to stop this from happening again," she remarked, looking around. "I mean, I know we're good, but even we can't do this alone. But I refuse to just sit by and let all of this happen again. I don't know how. I don't even know if anyone would help us. But we've got to try, right?" She said, shoving her hands in to her pockets.

The fact that the town wasn't sinking in to misery, wasn't shutting themselves away in their homes to hide and ignore the bad things that had happened, endeared her to the town even more. Instead, they came out to tidy up, to help each other out, to do what they could. She didn't know if anyone would help. But she got the impression that somebody would.

Alex found the kitchen easily enough; he followed the smell of food. That was something he was good enough at. Something in him knew he would find Oliver there, and he did. He almost apologized for startling the man, but Oliver started speaking so quickly, Alex didn't get much of a chance. When asked about his sleep, Alex nodded, "I slept just fine," The lie was so effortless even he almost believed it, "The room is very nice." That was the truth. Only a moment later, Oliver's hand was on Alex's head. Normally, Alex hated things like this. He'd spent most of his adult life being babied and treated like a child, and this gesture was dangerously close to some of the same treatment.

However, Alex was fairly certain that Oliver was just trying to make sure nothing was off, and he didn't mind that treatment from Oliver, anyway. Something about him just made Alex feel safe, somehow. At ease, and as if he had nothing to fear. While Alex couldn't be sure if it was Oliver's personality, or the fact that he had saved his life the night before, he didn't mind it. With Oliver's hand on his forehead, Alex looked up at him, studying his face. Alex had always been fond of looking at people, especially ones with such nice features. It was almost as if he were trying to commit every line of Oliver's face to memory, as if he were afraid he would forget what the man looked like if he didn't take every opportunity to really look at him. It was only a moment, though, before Oliver opened his eyes, and Alex looked right into them. If Oliver hadn't started talking, Alex may have been tempted to comment on the color's of his eyes. Instead, he just smiled, nodded, as if to indicated he understood what Oliver had been doing, even though he didn't fully. He shook his head at the joke, "No tail, unfortunately." He winked, then continued, "I feel fine." He paused for a brief moment and added, "You did good."

He turned his attention to the breakfast Oliver had made. Though he was hungry, the though of food wasn't entirely appealing. Still, it was a kind gesture. He looked up at Oliver and raised an eyebrow at the coffee comment. It wasn't an incorrect assumption, but Oliver had said that with all the confidence of someone who knew. Still, he smiled, "You assumed correctly." He decided to help himself to some coffee, before sitting down and picking at his food for a moment, "Thank you, by the way, He started, as if it was an afterthought, though it sounded genuine enough, "For breakfast and, you know, everything." By everything he meant the healing, the hospitality, existing. He was fairly sure he would have died if not for Oliver and Violet. Wait. He briefly looked up towards the ceiling, trying to remember if he'd seen her after he woke up the night before, but he couldn't remember. A brief feeling of dread passed over him; he would have to remember to ask about her. She was probably fine, but whatever they had encountered was, frankly, terrifying, and he didn't want to think about what it might have done to Violet if it had caught her.

Zada had taken a leisurely stroll back to her home, not paying much mind to the threat of hunters. They had seemed to be in retreat, and honestly didn't scare her in the first place. There, she spent an evening thinking, and listening to her (most recent) late fiance's record collection, before settling in to bed. The suffering of others didn’t affect her much. Really, she didn’t care at all about most of the inhabitants of the town. Though she’d lived in town a few years, she really hadn’t formed very many meaningful relationships. If she were honest, she would tell you she still wasn’t sure how to form relationships with people outside of the water. Even after all these years, she didn’t know how to relate to people. All the same, this town was her home, now. She’d spread her roots, become comfortable. She liked life in Greythorne, and she didn’t appreciate her entire life being disrupted in this way.

So when morning came around, she found herself walking out the door, and right into the chaos of Main Street. She saw familiar faces, though she wasn’t certain she could name most of them. Most of the people in town were cleaning because they wanted to help, but Zada saw this more as an opportunity to feel out the health of the town. She worked quietly, cleaning up what she could; but ultimately she knew that the town wouldn’t want to be reminded of this event if they decided to hold the festival again. The people in this town were resilient, that much was obvious, but Zada wouldn’t blame them if they decided that fairs and festivals were no longer worth the risk. Someone Zada didn’t know had handed her a broom, having decided they needed a break from the work. It was emotional work, for sure, and Zada couldn’t imagine having to clean it all up after having been there the night before. She stayed busy sweeping up the debris and trash littered on the ground

It didn’t take long before she spotted a familiar pair, and while a part of her said not to intrude on their conversation, she wanted to know if Markus knew any more about the attack than she did. Honestly, Zada had seen this sort of thing before, and she knew it would take some time for the town to go back to normal, if it ever did. She needed to decide if she was going to stay; though this was her home, if a mass amount of the residents relocated, Zada would likely do the same. She had chosen this town so she could live comfortably, and if the very people that made this town comfortable left, there was no reason to stay. So she walked up, somber smile on her face. None of it looked completely natural, her movements almost never did. They were well-practiced, but perhaps too well practiced. ”Sorry to interrupt,” She started, though she wasn’t sorry, ”I was wondering…” It struck her that she didn’t know how to word her question without sounding callous, and she briefly tried to think of a better way to word it. However, after not quickly finding softer words, she continued, ”I was wondering if you knew how bad the attack was.” She shrugged, ”I’m trying to decide if I should consider moving.”

Markus grinned as Evelyn stated she had nothing else to do and that she wasn't really up to anything else, "I was about to say, I didn't think of you as the charitable type honestly." he said with a small smirk. The two continued picking things up and moving debris fro the street. Broken structures and beams laid strewn around the streets, it would take forever to clean up this town, if it was the two of them. But as Markus looked around, a few others slowly crept out of their houses to help, a few other Lycans and day dwelling folk as he didn't pay much attention to them. Markus easily took the piece of debris he was handed and placed it aside in a makeshift pile, it would only be good for a bonfire at this point. He looked back at her at the mention of the attack and how they were fine, for the most part, they couldn't do this alone again. The small group wouldn't be able to take care of the town, if they couldn't even take care of themselves. "Things could have gone much, much worse last night. No one died, least not that we know of yet. Besides, Greythorne has one of the best Lycan and Vampire duo on their side, I think they have a shot." he said with a small teasing wink.

He took a moment to think and sigh as he looked around, it was a mess, and they'd need to do something. Be more cautious and possibly have patrols of people at night to make sure nothing is going amuk. They could discuss things at a later point. "We'll think of something, Eve...We usually do. This town is full of hard-workers and people that look out for each other. Don't stress yourself so much, alright?" he said as he gave her a gentle pat on the head, turning his head back as his senses picked up a familiar scent behind them. He turned his head and couldn't help but smirk as he saw the familiar face of Zada approaching them. It always was an interesting thing to see a Siren on land, at least in his opinion. He gave her a small smile and nod as she grew closer, eventually asking the two on the extent of the attack, there was no real way of avoiding the topic, or no real way to soften the way of talking about it. At first he was only able to give her a small shrug, but as he thought he was able to give a somewhat final answer the best he could, "Other than those two that were eaten by you, I think the others were scared off enough last night. As for the damage, the downtown square just needs to be cleaned back up, and will be back in mostly working order again. But as for the people, I think most are just scared. I think we had as few casualties as we could have in such short notice." he stated plainly, for all he knew, the small attack had only left one rather injured and a few mentally scarred. "As for moving, I wouldn't go that far. The last thing we need is mass panic and for people to think we need to evacuate. I've seen towns go under far worse attacks and come back being fine. Greythorne will be okay. We have the numbers and measures if we need to take them. Just lie low and don't cause any issues. Just continue with your daily lives.."

Jaiden couldn't help but form a large smile as Aurora laid her eyes on the food that was put on the table, and the comment she made of not having to do anything of the sort caused her to chuckle slightly. "Consider this a way of me saying thank you for letting me stay at your place. It was the least I could do for you. I would have done more but, I worked with what I had, I hope it was okay. I-I didn't mean to upset you or anything. I can always go out and buy more food later today." she said with a small chuckle as she brushed her hair from her eyes. She knew Aurora would apologize for not helping, but after the night they all had, Aurora deserved to be able to sleep as much as she could, but from the look on her face, she looked exhausted. It would only be natural, after any real traumatic event, sleep would be next to impossible for anyone.

"I'm not exactly sure on what you like or don't like, so I just went with what you've had in your fridge and kind of ment on a haunch. I hope everything tastes as good as it looks, I'm no professional there, that belongs to Phoenix." Jaiden said with a small smile, pulling out one of the chairs for Aurora, "Please, sit. If there's anything else that you need to do, just feel free to kick me out of your house and I'll let you be." she said with another chuckle as the two finally sat down and began their breakfast making small talk every now and then between their bites of food or sip of the coffee or orange juice that was set out for the.

Everything was dark and silent. Cold yet warm to the touch, it was a bit claustrophobic in nature, but yet everything felt endless. As if it just went on for miles if it ever ended in any direction one looked. There was no natural light or any sound, simply the dull hum and awkward silence that exists when one is alone or thinks that they are alone. In what felt like the blink of an eye, Violet opened her eyes once more, finding herself in an empty void. There was nothing but darkness and silence at least that's what she believed. She didn't know where she was or what happened. All she remembered was pushing Alex ahead as they were chased by something and then all went black. She didn't know how long she was alone for, or if she was ever alone. She didn't know if Alex made it back or if he was trapped here too-no. That couldn't be it, she was alone. Meaning he had made it out, or at least that was all she was able to hope for. She stood in silence for what felt like an eternity before finally opening her mouth to utter the words, "H-hello?" she called out, her voice sounded like her's but nothing like it at the same time. It was a mix of her own voice, an echo, slight whispers from unknown voices and a deep, thunderous growl all at once. She had never experienced anything like this, and she had done several things as a ghost, but nothing like this had ever really happened before. She called out once more, her voice beginning to sound more like her's the more she spoke. But there was nothing. No response, no echo, not even a sound. Not that she had expected anything if there was even anything to respond to her. With a heavy sigh she crossed her arms, slowly pacing back and forth as what to do. If this is what purgatory, limbo, the afterlife or whatever else someone wanted to call it was, Violet didn't like it. Being a ghost was one thing, but being in a place of constant silence and darkness was something even herself wasn't able to live with. The irony she thought. Violet had lived a life many would have wanted, but it was taken all too soon, she simply wished she could have her own life back, if not able to be a ghost once more, even that was enough for her. Compared to where she was now, being a ghost wasn't that bad.

As time went on, she could begin to hear something, or at least that's what she thought. It started out almost inaudible. Then began as a slow and soft whisper, then merely a collection of whispers, until it grew and grew to form into a soft, dull voice. From what she could collect from memory, it was a male's voice. But no male she had ever met before. She answered the voice, asking what it wanted and who was this. It never exactly explained who it was, but the voice did explain what it wanted. Simply put, the voice wanted the same thing that Violet wanted. If this was true, she could get the means of being able to help out her friends, at least one more time. The two of them conversed for a bit longer, going over exactly what that meant, and how there was a price for her to have what she wanted. Violet was desperate and knew she'd need to do whatever she had to, to get back there and help her friends. The voice told of a price that it would cost, and she knew exactly what it would entail. After being given a few moments to reflect on it, she agreed. She didn't like it, but agreed with the voice nonetheless. She was promised that she'd find them back again, and with help and time, she could help them. Violet knew how reckless and possibly dangerous this choice would be, but she didn't care, all she wanted was to make sure that her friends were okay. Violet closed her eyes as intrusted, and the next thing she knew when she opened her eyes was that she was back. Bright lights and sounds were never so comforting to her before. But the location was unknown to her, it was a house but one she didn't exactly recognize. But one thing she did, the voices of the people in the house. At first she thought she was simply dreaming, but as she followed the voices, she saw two individuals standing in a kitchen talking. She didn't exactly catch what they were saying, as she immediately walked up to the brown-haired male, not caring that she was interrupting their conversation. "You bastard! I'm glad that you're okay and everything, but do you know what I had to do to get back here?" she exclaimed, raising her hand she aimed to slap Alex across the face, knowing full well that her hand would simply phase through him and she'd fall to the ground every time like she had prior.

But what shocked Violet more, was not that her initial reaction was to yell at Alex after being gone for who knows how long she had been away for, but it was that instead of simply missing Alex. There was a loud and harsh sounding smack as her hand made contact with Alex's face, causing his head to turn to the size roughly. A large red handprint was on the left side of his face. Violet's looked at Alex in shock as she gave a soft gasp out of shock and surprise, not at her action, but by the fact that it had worked. "W-what the fuck...?" she muttered as she looked at her hand, and then back up at Alex, Let me do that again??" she asked with a tone ox excitement and confusion in her voice. Little did Violet know that she had gotten what she wanted and more, but the price she knew was something that none of her friends would want. And she planned on keeping it to herself as long as she could...Heaven knows she'd need to.

This habit of taking on huge projects whenever he was emotionally distressed was starting to become a bit of an issue, if he was being perfectly honest with himself. But in his defense, Friendsgiving hadn't initially been a huge undertaking. It was more a case of... spiraling out of control and suddenly he had found himself making a spreadsheet of what exactly everyone was bringing and what he had left to do. He'd been awake at 3AM last night cleaning and decorating the apartment and attempting to move around furniture to make some space.

He wasn't thinking about that conversation over breakfast. He wasn't still trying to wrap his head around the whole idea of angels and a higher being and... everything that came with it. And he certainly wasn't trying to come to terms with the fact that he'd had a massive freaking crush on a literal angel. And for once, Phoenix had done what was probably the sensible thing. He'd told Cas that he needed some space to process things. It had been the last thing he'd wanted to do when he finally looked at those goddamn eyes, but this time, his head had won out. His heart had gotten a compromise by inviting Cas to the Friendsgiving dinner, but if Phoenix was being honest, he didn't exactly have high hopes.

Why had he held the dinner in his own damn apartment? Alex's abuela probably would have let him take over her kitchen and hell, probably would have helped in return for an extra large slice of Phoenix' pecan pie. It was too small. Really, it was too small for anyone other than him, Alex, and Jaiden. But no, he'd invited more people than that, and he was stressed. The four cups of extra strong coffee he'd had that morning to try and combat the three hours of poor sleep he had wasn't helping things, sure, but it was either that or risk messing something up, and that was not an option. Everything had to be perfect.

He had no damn control over his own life, and so he was going to take control over this damn dinner if he had to give himself a caffeine-induced heart attack doing it.

Evelyn had only a vague idea of who this Phoenix person was, and she had even less of an idea how she'd ended up with an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner. She had never really been to Thanksgiving. Her family just never did it. But Markus had said he was going. She got the impression he wasn't quite sure why he was going either, but he'd said she should go to "make friends" or something like that. She'd retorted that excuse back at him.

She didn't even know what one brought to Thanksgiving dinner, so she just had a bottle of red wine and a box of chocolates. She didn't even know what to wear so erred on the side of "festive". But she would have been lying if she said that she wasn't kinda looking forward to it, to meeting the various people this peculiar little town had to offer. From what she'd seen so far, she knew it would certainly be interesting.

She knocked on Markus' door, her trademark aviator sunglasses and large hat shielding her face from the sun. She'd been spending most of the time out at night lately, patrolling the woods and the sleeping town, looking for... something. Things had been far too quiet, and it was making everyone uneasy. Evelyn got the impression that they were gathering their strength and their forces, waiting to strike back at them and this time, with enough force to overwhelm them. Evelyn felt like they should be preparing, doing... something. But she was an outsider, it wasn't like she could whip up her own team of patrols or impose a curfew or anything. And so she was stuck in limbo, waiting for something to happen and praying she could help.

Normally, after big events in town, Alex's mind could rest. The ghosts of those that had gone before would rest, let him rest, and all would be calm. But the attack was not a normal event, and Alex couldn't shake the feeling that there was still something out there, stirring the water. He was feeling guilt, as if he should have told the town something was wrong. He knew something was going to happen that night, and something terrible at that, but he never would have imagined an actual attack on the town. He knew it wasn't his fault, and that- without proof- there was very little he could have actually done. But he still couldn't help but feel he could have done more. Should have done more... Should have done anything besides just ignore his dreams and intuition. It had gotten several people hurt, and he wasn't sure if the town would ever emotionally recover. If he would ever emotionally recover.

Still, life goes on. As much as Alex would have liked to hide away in the safety of his bedroom, he had Friendsgiving to attend. While he was sure Phoenix would understand if he cancelled, he didn't want anyone to worry about him. Everything was fine. Alex was fine, he was normal; hardly even phased. Was anyone really going to believe that? There were a few people Alex knew would see straight through it, but if he was lucky, they'd be too occupied with their own lives to even notice. He considered texting Phoenix; he wondered if it was too late to consider moving to his own house. Sure, the Garcia residence was a modest home, but it was still bigger than Phoenix's apartment, and a few extra people had been invited this year (Alex had received the slightly panicked texts about the growing guest list). And if Alex was completely honest with himself, he was slightly uncomfortable with the idea of leaving the safety of home. But he had a protection charm, his favorite pentacle tucked into his collar, a lucky stone or two in his pockets. It was going to be okay.

You can't hide for the rest of your life.

It wasn't a long walk, really, but it felt that way. Every rustling of leaves had Alex on edge, not to mention the stray cats. It was an altogether uneventful journey, though, for which he was grateful. He paused at the door, taking a short moment to calm himself, collect his thoughts, before letting himself in Phoenix's apartment. Closing the door behind him, he called out, "I'm here for your valuables. Just stay calm and nobody has to get hurt." He made his way towards the kitchen, setting a box with a few different kinds of alcohol and soft drinks down and out of the way, "Need any help?" He smiled at the question, almost sure the answer would be a no. Phoenix honestly looked to have everything under control, and unless he wanted someone to start washing dishes, Alex was the last person he was likely to want in his kitchen.

For Violet, the next few weeks were an odd and strang one. Ever since coming back, things were, different to say the very least. From coming back from wherever she was, to seeing Alex and Oliver, the prior who she had justifiably slapped, and questioned. But as time had passed she questioned if that was the right thing to do. What Violet hadn't expected, was Alex's initial reaction. Which, instead of hitting back or questioning what was that for, he instead gave her a tight hug, almost trembling in her arms. It would have worried her more if that wasn't the first hug she ever had from someone in almost ten years. Finally having someone else be able to physically interact with her caused her heart to race, and she found herself having returned the hug against her better judgment. But after a few minutes, the two had been given some time to talk in privacy, where she explained to Alex in a very vague way that she was back, and was back for a while. That everything was going to be okay and that he didn't need to worry about anything, or question anything. But after that, she disappeared for a few days again, simply trying to figure out what to do. She could feel things, interact with things at will, and could even feel cold and heat once more. She could get hungry or tired again, but it wasn't a complete hunger or tired. She didn't need to sleep or eat, but she could if she wanted to. For the first time in ten years, she could live as possibly close to being human again as one could. And as nice as it was, part of her was filled with dread and fear, as time went on, she grew more and more anxious. She wasn't sure about what, but something in her gut told her something was off. So for the next few days she was constantly anxious and nervous, never knowing when something or someone might catch her off guard. But as the days grew closer, she remembered what was arriving. It was the date of their annual friend dinner. But this time she wasn't sure if she was invited, as she had just seemingly vanished out of nowhere, but she hoped it wouldn't be rude if she just showed up unannounced?

Violet found herself walking down the street to that very familiar house down the block, one which she had found herself spending much of her time before the attack. She dug her hands in her pockets before taking a deep breath and exhaling, a small cloud of hot air showed up infront of her. The little things people did were something that excited her, while others would think it was mundane. She slowly reached out and knocked on the door, once, then twice. Rocking on the heels of her feet as anxiety rose through her. Should she have come? Was she even invited this year? She had so many worries, and she was even considering to leave until she heard a familiar voice behind the door. Markus? Was that actually him? Her heart rate rose as patiently waited for the door to open, and finally, it did. To her delight it was Markus, who had a smile on his face before his eyes fell on her. The face that once held a smile now had widened eyes and a slightly ajar mouth. Violet gave a small chuckle, "I can explain, okay? And I will. Just first..." she said as she stepped forward, and found herself wrapping her arms around Markus tightly. Her body shook with anxiety as she clung to him out of slight fear, but also happiness as she was finally able to give her longest friend a hug once more. "I swear, I can explain at a later date, just...Let's enjoy tonight, okay?[color]" she questioned.

The days that passed were a whirlwind of stress and excitement. Stress as she had gone back and forth from her home and Aurora's over the past few days, making sure that Aurora was able to feel safe once again and was also taking care of herself as she had seemed to shut down since the attack, but was slowly getting back to her old self, or at least that's how she appeared. With the town slowly returning to its past state, some stress was mellowed out, but things were still hectic, but also were looked forward to as their annual friend dinner was coming closer and closer as time grew closer. Jaiden had baked a little bit more than she should have, but it was worth it. What wasn't eaten that night, the others could take home with them if they wanted, and she was happy to oblige. She had baked at least three dozen batches of three different cookies, made a large-sized pan of brownies, and even made some cranberry and banana bread, as some of the others liked it as she wasn't much of a fan. After finally realizing how much of a mess her kitchen turned into after all of the baking, and how little left of time she had before she had to go to Phoenix' house, she didn't have the time to clean up. All she could do was get out of the flour-covered clothes and get into something a bit more fitting.

She finished getting dressed and got the food into transportable boxes, and after putting them into a small wagon she left her house and made a b-line for Phoenix's house. It had taken her a bit longer than she wanted, but she finally made it and to her surprise, she wasn't the only one there. Alex was already there as he was busily talking to Phoenix. "[color=maroon]Sup, losers.
" she called out as she placed the various sweets and food on the table. It was a few minutes of casual talking with Alex and Phoenix that another knock against the door sounded as familiar voices came from outside, it was Markus and the new girl, if Jaiden could remember correctly, it was Evely? Yeah, that was her name. She was also a vampire if she was correct, she hadn't met many, but she did seem nice enough, and wasn't the cliche bloodthirsty ones, so she was okay in her book. "Hey, boss-man." she said as she gave Markus a small wink, who simply only rolled his eyes as he gave her a playful wink as he walked past her into the kitchen. Jaiden chuckled as she turned back to Evelyn, seeing that they had ended up bringing his dog with them. "So you did bring her!" she said with glee as she knelt down, petting the small puppy. Jaiden quickly popped back up to her feet as she extended her hand out, "Sorry about that. I'm Jaiden, one of Markus's good friends, even though he'd never admit it." she said with a chuckle and wink as he passed by the two as another knock was heard coming from the door.

The next few days that passed by, passed by all too slowly for Markus. Things had been slow as he and a few of the others made it their daily goal to help clean up the town and finally it was back to as clean as it would be. While the physical damages were easily taken care of within a few days, it was obvious that the mental and emotional damages to the other town's people would take longer. And Markus was prepared for it. Others talked about leaving and questioned if the town was truly safe any more, Markus had witnessed several other towns having been attacked for far more bigger problems. These were obviously rogue hunters that were simply bored and would come back, but they would be prepared next time, that much he made sure. On the other hand, Markus had kept his eye on the calendar, knowing full well what was to come, and he even had to admit this was one of the few things he looked forward to every year. The time to sit down with his friends, enjoy food and be able to not want to kill someone was always something he looked forward to, even if he didn't look like it from an outsider's perspective. He spent the night before-hand baking and making some things he knew the others would enjoy, if there was one thing he was able to master over the years, it was surprisingly baking. And he knew full well once Evelyn found out, she wouldn't let him live it down, and he was prepared for that. And as the day finally arrived, Markus was busy in his kitchen that looked like a tornado had torn through it, plates and utensils, and food scraps were strewn around the room as he was hard at work making the special dessert that he brought every year. It was his famous homemade blackberry pie with lightly all-natural sugar glaze, something that the others absolutely loved. He wasn't much of a fan of it, but he knew the others always looked forward to it, so it was worth the work and time.

Markus had just placed the piping hot dish down on the table in the middle of the kitchen when he heard a knock on the door. He paused as his hands released from the dish, having gentle placed it on the wooden object. He froze for a moment, his mind swirling for a moment with slight anxiety until the familiar smell hit him. He chuckled quietly to himself, it was stupid. Even if it was what he thought he would have been fine. His nerves were simply getting to him. He looked up across the room as the front door was just slightly out of sight for him, "Door's open!" he called, knowing full well who it was, he had no reason to not let her in. He turned and washed his hands as he heard the door open, cleaning up the mess as he went. "I was wondering what took you so long. Look good by the way." he gave her a small smile as he passed by her and put some aluminum foil over the top of the pie once it had cooled off enough. Walking in the woods with an uncovered pie would not be the most preferred thing to do. He looked around the room for a moment and smirked, "Oh yeah, you haven't met her, have you? I figured since I'll be gone for so long, I might as well take her with us." he said cooly, a small whistle escaped his lips. And after a few short seconds later the sound of soft scampering came from across the house. It was subtle at first, but as it got closer it grew louder, and finally the cause of the sound was known as a small, brown furball scampered into the room, ran right past Evelyn and into Markus' arms as he crouched down and held her, gently giving her a kiss on the head before placing her down on the tile floor. Markus watched as the small dog ran over to Evelyn and smelt her foot before her tail began to wag as she twirled in circles before giving a few short yips and barks. "This is Coco. She was at the groomer's last time you were here." he said with a small chuckle.

Markus gave the room one more look over before turning back to Evelyn and the small puppy, "Now, we ready to go, or are you going to continue fawning over this dog while we're gonna take her with us anyway? You can hold her if that makes you any happier?" he said with a chuckle, turning to the counter as he grabbed the pie and the three of them left the house after a few last-minute preparations and made their way to Phoenix' house. After a few short minutes, they found themselves arriving to the small and quaint home. It was bigger than Markus' house and he had to admit, for a home in Greythrone it was one of the better ones. The pair finally made their way into the home to see that a few of the others had already made their way there, seeing Alex, Phoenix, and Jaiden. They weren't late, but they also weren't as early as Markus would have liked. Markus placed the pie on the table and gave the others a small wave as they made their way further into the house, seeing Alex and Phoenix in the kitchen. "Thank you for having us, Phoenix. Anything that you need help with?" he asked, but soon there was a knock on the door, "I'll go get it." he said with a smile as he left the kitchen and back through the house, passing by Jaiden as he walked through the dining room, gently patting her on the head as he gave her a wink. "Be right there!" Markus called as he approached the door. He placed his hand on the door and stopped as his hand grasped the door, something didn't feel right for him as the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. He took a deep breath and turned the handle and pulled the door open. The small smile that was on his face was replaced with widened eyes, and his mouth was slightly ajar.

Markus couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Violet. She was just, standing there. And, something looked off. She looked, good. As in, her skin wasn't so pale and she didn't look as...ghostly as she did prior? Whatever the case was, he was excited to see her again. His eyebrow quirked slightly as he gave her a questionable look as she walked forward, and instead of phasing through him as she always did, she simply gave him a hug. The feeling of her arms wrapping around her once more caused his heart to race, and he found himself wrapping his arms around her just tight enough, as a few tears ran down his face before he quickly wiped them away as he backed up to give her a look over once more. "I-I don't know what to say except...I've missed you. I was worried about you...Like, a lot. I'm just happy that you're back....And, you don't have to worry about explaining it to me just yet. We have plenty of time. C-come on, it's cold out there." he said as he ushered her in and closed the door behind them.

Phoenix ran a hand through his hair as he heard somebody at the door, ready to prepare himself for guests- but as he heard Alex's voice calling out a joke about robbing him or something, he relaxed, rolling his eyes a little. As expected, he'd brought plenty of drinks, which was at least one less thing to worry about. He shook his head as Alex asked if he could help with anything. "I think everything's under control, but thanks. Grab yourself a drink or whatever if you want," he said. Even if he hadn't got everything mostly pre-prepared, there was no way he would have let Alex anywhere near his cooking. Phoenix had a natural flair for cooking. Alex had a natural flair for burning stuff.

Phoenix didn't even get a chance to fully address Jaiden before Markus and one of the newcomers arrived. Phoenix was pretty sure he'd seen her around town but couldn't put a name to her face. "Hey Markus," he called. He just shrugged as Markus thanked him for inviting them. "It's nice to have people around," he replied, shrugging a little. "Nice to have somewhere to go," the woman said with a smile. "I'm Evelyn by the way, Markus has been trying to encourage me to make friends so dragged me along," she teased. "Oh, here, I brought these!" She said with a smile, and he returned it and thanked her. Markus disappeared to go to the door and Phoenix turned to Alex. "Can you get everyone some drinks?" He asked.

The sudden arrival of everyone at once made the apartment feel quite small. Ignoring that nagging feeling of panic that everything was going to go wrong, he forced himself to take a deep breath and put out a tray of fresh bread rolls and other finger food for people to graze on. The sound of someone else arriving made his stupid, foolish, hopeful heart leap, but instead he heard Markus talking to somebody, and he forced himself to not react, to swallow the bitter taste that suddenly arose in his mouth. "Could you poor me a glass of something?" Phoenix asked Alex, forcing a smile. "Just not wine," he added.

Once Markus called that the door was open, Evelyn pushed the door open and stepped in. She raised an eyebrow as she saw the state the kitchen was in. She wouldn't have put Markus down as a baker, but whatever it was smelled amazing. "Thank you. This is my first proper Thanksgiving so I wanted to make an effort at least," she admitted. She raised an eyebrow as Markus said something about introducing her- and then the most adorable, tiny ball of fluff came sprinting into the room and Evelyn fell entirely in love. By the time Markus was ready to leave, she was sitting on the floor cuddling the puppy, ready to completely give up on Thanksgiving and cuddle Coco for the rest of the day.

"Ugh, fine," she said as he said he wanted to leave, agreeing only because he let her carry Coco. "You know, Markus, I never would have had you pegged as a small dog kinda guy. I was picturing an... Alsatian or Husky or some... giant wolf like dog. As stereotypical as it sounds. But Coco is tiny and adorable and perfect," she cooed as they walked through the woods. The dog was distracting her from the tension that seemed to linger in the woods, the fear that something would happen at another gathering.

But they made it to the apartment without anything going wrong, and Evelyn introduced herself to the host, before putting Coco down. Another woman materialised to pet Coco, who she recognised vaguely from seeing her around town. "I'm Evelyn. Markus has kinda taken me under his wing since I got into town. Trying to help me make friends, although mostly I annoy him into doing stuff with me and keeping me company," she said. "And now that I've discovered this little darling, he's never getting rid of me," she cooed at Coco, scratching between her ears.

Alex went ahead and made himself a drink as people started arriving. Every new person to enter the room made Alex's heart race, and not in a fun way, so he decided on tequila, and plenty of it. He had to remind himself that he knew everyone in the room (aside from Markus' guest, and he wasn't entirely sure what he thought of her), and that he would be fine. Still, he couldn't shake the thought that he would somehow get swallowed in this, the smallest of crowds, and meet whomever might be waiting for him in some dark corner. He swallowed the anxiety rising in his throat, turned to Markus, and grinned. "Hey, Markus, did you-" He cut himself off when he realized that there was a very important guest present, and his smile widened into something more genuine, "Oh my god, you brought Coco!" As much as he desperately wanted to drop everything to play with the tiny ball of fluff, Phoenix asked him to make drinks. Alex looked slightly crushed for a moment, then he nodded. Anything to help Phoenix. "I'm not getting anything for Jaiden, though, she can help herself; she's mean." As he said that, though, he poured a drink for her anyway. He figured he would get Markus a drink (or let the man get his own) when he was done at the door. He wasn't sure about the other woman, but she'd brought wine and he assumed she wouldn't bring something she didn't like, herself.

He delivered Jaiden's drink wordlessly, then he looked at the woman who had come with Markus and offered a warm smile, "I don't think we've met- I'm Alex." He held the glass of wine to her, "You brought this, so I kind of assumed you would drink it. I'm not normally so..." He paused, sighing as he struggled to find the word he wanted, then he shook his head, "Anyway, it's nice to meet you." Then he knelt down and held his hand out to Coco, smiling as he coo'd at her, speaking in that sing-song voice people use when they speak to small children, "Si hubiera sabido que vendrías, habría traído golosinas para perros." He spent a brief moment gently petting the dog before Phoenix asked him to get him a drink. Alex very nearly asked Phoenix some clarifying questions, but one look at his friend's face, and Alex decided against it. Instead, he excused himself from the puppy fest with a smile.

He poured Phoenix a, perhaps, too large glass of rum and coke, heavy on the rum, and handed it to his friend, but not without asking, "Hey, you okay?" Alex knew Phoenix well enough to know that something wasn't right, and though he also knew Phoenix wouldn't want to talk about it, he couldn't just ignore it. Phoenix was his best friend, and Alex valued their relationship over nearly every relationship he had. And while it was normally Phoenix looking out for Alex, Alex was always willing to let the roles reverse if Phoenix needed him, and Phoenix knew that. Or, he should, anyway.
