Blocking with the intent to cause damage with the block, striking at joints and other vital areas, and sing primarily closed fisted techniques are all forms of Hard style fighting. Soft style is almost the polar opposite, and is intended to evade and redirect the momentum and energy of the opponent in such a way as to allow the defending fighter the opportunity to either escape or strike back. Open handed techniques, such as knife-hand strikes, palm strikes, joint locks, nerve point strikes, etc., are all forms of soft style.

Trish

It was a bright and sunny with only but a few clouds over the farmlands where Trish lived and grown. It was an ideal day for adopted mother, Mary, to work on the farm and set up the surprise while the female saiyan was at school. Today would not only be the start of a series of events for the girl but much more importance her birthday. Trish, sixteen years old was turning seventeen and more then just cake and a small gift was in store for her. Although, Life has been long and lonely for this young lass but It will all change once she is out class…

At school…

The bell had just rung and everyone already had stormed out of the classroom except Trish and Kara. The sun rays came through the windows as the rest of the staff and students cleared the hallway. The young saiyan had propped her glasses before collecting her supplies. Her body slightly leaned forward as her hands grabbed the set of pencils, shortly followed by the full written on sheets of paper, neatly slid into her messenger bag. Kara watched her, ready twirling her dirty blond hair before speaking with a smile.

"So are we heading to your home today?! It's the first time I've ever been to it and I've known you for about a year now hehe" Kara spoke excitedly.

Trish gave her a gentle smile and nodded.

"Yes, I'm sure mother will be proud to meet you… By the way, I hope you don't mind me flying you since it's so much quicker!" Trish said.

"I trust you… " Kara replied yet in her mind she was slightly afraid due to her fear in heights.

After closing her bag and slinging it across her shoulder, Trish nodded towards her friend and moved towards the stairs of the building. They climbed them without a word until opening the door to the outside. When they took a few steps onto the roof of the building a gentle breeze passed by which in a relaxed state the saiyan closed her eyes. She then turned to Kara before picking her up gently when she nodded and charged up enough to get into the air immediately flying towards her home. Kara was holding onto her neck rather tight but Trish had already figured she would be afraid.

Trish and Kara had made it back to the farm safely yet in the distance she felt an unfamiliar chill that made her feel uncomfortable and stopped midair. her eyes shifted passed the forest towards the mountain side of the land and stared slightly frightened. Was it merely her senses coming in as a Saiyan or was it her imagination? Kara looked up to the girl asking why they had stopped then looked down freaking out slightly again. Trish was startled out of her worries and looked down towards her friend shaking her head.

"It…Is nothing, I simply thought I may have saw something she said lowering them down to land gently as her eyes remained straight in the direction of the mountains.

After finally being set down, Trish's 'mother' came running out of the door yelling excitedly "Happy birthday!!". Kara laughed and Trish scratched the back of her head after being startled once more followed by a giggle. All three of them then went in and began the celebration.

Moments and the birthday cake just came out for Trish. Immediately Kara and mary began singing 'Happy Birthday' to the birthday her before a loud roar sounding as if it was a plane seemed to have landed near or close by. Immediately the two stopped singing and although it didn't feel as bad as what she felt while in flight.. the chill came in once more yet it felt different.

"What could that be…?" Mary asked.

"I, don't know I was personally gonna ask you the same." Kara replied.

Trish's tail moved swaying back and forth as she shivered whispering to herself "it feels… like there are two….".

The two females looked at her before looking at each other. Suddenly Trish leapt from her seat hitting the table quite hard, not hard enough to break though and suddenly cried out "They're coming this way!"

"Who's coming this way?" Kara asked yet Trish had headed and ran out the door only to be revealed a man and a woman standing in front of her.

"You two… you're who I felt all of a sudden… I never felt that until now, What's going on? and who are you? Also what do you want…?!" The young saiyan girl asked with a little bit of fear.

The woman grinned with her arms crossed standing straight. The man beside her stood with his hands to his side with his fist cringed. They wore light material that looked close to traditional japanese clothing and had the face of someone normal. No tails were seen as Trish examined them. Suddenly the woman spoke as she began to tear up. Her facial expression becoming a little more kinder.

"It's been so long…I have no laid eyes on you since you were young…" She spoke wiping her eyes.

The man didn't have tears but his expression turned warmer.

"Lidia… You've grown well…" He spoke with a slightly deep voice.

"Lidia…? My name is Trish… who are you two" Trish replied.

"We're your true parents… Yet we did not come to claim you back… we don't want to turn you from the life you've known…" The man said sternly. The woman turned towards him with a light gasp but then sighed knowing its true. Trish backed up noticing Mary and Kara watching from the door. Their eyes examining the two in front of them. Mary immediately could tell the two weren't lying only due to the looks, yet something in her mind told her they weren't here just for a family reunion.

"Why did you finally just decide to come back…?" Mary said walking out with her hands behind her looking at the two.

"We didn't want to cause problems in the way she was growing up… we didn't find her until she was in your care already… We approved her learning how to battle like the Saiyan she is in such martial arts but aside such things we didn't want to intrude… We only watched over her quietly… The explosion made us land far from each and we were unable to find you when we woke… your pod disbanded and landed in that forest… The reason we came back is to protect you… with our lives. A terrifying creature is present … and he may be on its way" The woman spoke slightly frightened.

Trish became shocked by what she was hearing and so much was explained by this description to her. The feelings yet more questions were to be answered in her mind. After examining the two once more she did find a certain resemblance in the two but then her mind once again focused towards the mountains. The power flowing was scaring her and from what her parents said… She may be in for more then she bargained for on this birthday.

Trish

Kara and Mary looked at each other once more hearing the news and gasped. Although they were truly happy seeing Trish finally meeting her biological parents, the warning was not something they wanted to hear at all. Suddenly Trish, her mother and father looked towards the mountains feeling Goulden come near.

“Shit...” the father said charging up.

The mother also began charging up looking behind towards Trish.

“Lidia! Run!”

Trish looked felt her parent's power level increasing but they still didn't reach the beast's power.

“Wait – I -” Trish began only to be interrupted seeing Goulden arrive with a smirk.

“I introduced myself twice to two others similar to all three of you so I feel I don't need to really do it again... I will say I will be judging your strength before seeing if this planet is worth keeping alive... All three of you won't stand a chance and if you run I will force you to fight or you will just take the pain if not die... to make things interesting...” He chuckled seeing the parents standing in front of Trish with more slightly more power in attempt do defend her.

“I'll defeat the little girl first!” Goulden immediately flashed behind the appearing behind Trish yet the mother's reflexes managed to stop the hit by using both of her hands when the alien attempted to swing at her. The Father then rushed throwing the Ilchtari in the air following with a Ki blast. It did slight damage but Goulden smirked nodding before chuckling.

“This might be interesting.. I won't hold back just because you are both low”

Trish turned back towards Mary and Kara. “Mary, Kara you two run away as far as you can!”

“Lidia! You too--!!” Screamed the saiyan mother before Goulden appeared near her immediately grabbing her by the head and slamming her into the ground before throwing her towards the forest. The father then dashed tried to punch the goulden but it was easily blocked and retaliated where Goulden back kicked him away making him hit and skid against the ground. There was only one standing and that was Trish. Her mother began lifting herself up when she noticed Trish charging up through rage.

“Lidia!! Don't do...it!” She screamed. Kara and Mary were wide eyed seeing Trish this way but even moreso scared for her. They as well did not want Trish to rush in to get hurt.

It was too late, Goulden smirked standing waiting for her to act. Trish immediately dashed towards Goulden and engaged in battle. It had begun, she began by throwing some jabs with her right are keeping her left for defense. Goulden dodged yet noticed how quick she threw them and then suddenly a suprising kick came from her making him fly towards the forest. Goulden smirked and was able to stop himself from going further. He then moved his hand towards him in a taunt. Trish's biological mother joined the frey stopping Trish and the two went further into the forest Trish following.

“Lidia, I'll grab him, and you throw everything you got at him!” The mother nodded saying towards him. At the same time she hoped her husband was alright and would show soon. Goulden stopped in his tracks spoke.

“You guys aren't even a challenge as three...” He said Immediately grabbing the mother after appearing behind her throwing her through the forest's trees concluding with a powerful energy blast causing an explosion in the direction. In the distance from Trish all she could hear is her mother scream in pain. Trish's mother was no longer able to fight and too weak to keep going. In her mother's sight she saw Trish going forward before being grabbed by Goulden and thrown the same way without a energy blast following in the same direction immediately hitting the ground hard. Goulden then appeared above them in the air and pointed his finger down towards them.

“It was fun... but I'm going to have to say this is the end... You three proved no match..” The alien said with his finger charging and sudden releasing a powerful energy wave at both of them only to be blocked. All three of them, Goulden, Trish and her mother went wide eyed seeing Trish's biological father block the blast taking the full damage. After that all they saw was his bloodied body hit the ground. The male saiyan coughed up some blood before looking towards his daughter with a smile then closing his eyes no longer breathing.

“No...!” Trish's mother said but without energy was not able to scream. Trish moved slowly towards her mother and held her before looking up Ilchtari.

“I finally... met my real father and this happens...” she spoke softly as she tried to charge her power for another round. Although her mother grabbed her arm and said not to she was determined to try again.

Goulden smiled waiting to see how this would unfold.

He thought to himself “This little girl might have more potential then the other two... I'll just see if she really can push herself especially after killing the poor father...”

Trish's Fight (Mona's Perspective)

Mona observed her daughter and debutti approach the arena. Her eyes squinted in disgust looking upon the mutant. It was obvious she had morphed herself to be thin and look glamorous but it was all false. It was only shaken off when the mother thought of Debutti's attributes. The fat could absorb attacks easily when but there was definitely a way around it and through the training that was done Trish will prevail. Even when this thought was in her head she knew it wouldn't be a cake walk.

Mona observed the two shaking hands and once Trish stepped back into her spot with a bow, it was already shown that the manipulative mutant struck Trish across the arena. Her eyes went big gripping the rail she was in front of, leaving her finger prints. Mona watched as the fight took place and erupted. It was only a short second before Trish began countering Debutti's attacks. Sparks were flying in her eyes and in her favor until she finally showed the public of her hideous sight, causing her fat to pop out as a counter. Trish stood up , obviously upsetting the crowd behind her who began yelling but she easily silenced them with a glare. Her head turned to see Lydia pummeled into the ground this too was countered but only barely. Her eyes continued to watch the battle with hopes the Trish didn't get too much injuries as a mother but enjoyed watching the fight none the less.

Finally after a series of exchanging blows it was time that the two got serious. Mona watched as Debutti took her skinny form again then looked towards her daughter. She watched carefully and noticed that she still didn't take out her steel knuckles which brought out even further potential Trish had. This made her grin following it with a shrug knowing either way, her daughter will prevail. This was it, the final show down and Mona was ready to see the expected outcome. Trish had overcome and outsmarted the pink mutant landing her final powerful kick sending the mutant out of the arena. Mona smiled and leaned back in relief.

“Well done, Lydia...” Mona said standing up and rushing to her daughter's side. In the recovery lounge.

“Mom!” Trish said.

“Well done... I'm surprised you didn't use them” She said as she sat next to her.

“Use...them?” Lydia asked curious before suddenly remembering her knuckles strapped to her belt behind her. “Oh right! Yeah... If you think about it.. It would've been unfair” She said with a laugh.

Mona giggled with and nodded.

It wasn't long before Trish and Mona heard the announcer come in to get Akiko who went with them. Trish turned her head to her mother with a concerned look. Mona looked back at her looking into her daughter's eyes.

“Will – you be going out to watch her?”

Mona shook her head.

“Not quite yet...” She said placing her hand over her daughter's. To Mona she could see the broadcast of the match in a TV near by and watched it closely hoping Akiko remembered most of her training. It was only in the end when after watching Akiko get so hurt both Trish and Mona were upset having the doctors rush Akiko to her side. It was then when Mona found her other hand over Akiko whispering to her.

“Well done...”

Akiko

Akiko didn't know how long she had been unconscious. When she first woke up, she wasn't even sure where she was. The chibi sayian's first thought as her sapphire eyes fluttered open was a simple one... Ow.

Ever so slowly, Akiko peeked around. Despite being cleaned up and the doctor's best efforts, every movement hurt and the world spun with the simple turn of her head. Yet, once the deed was done, the chibi saiyan was happy to see Mona and Trish nearby. She smiled through her split lips, only to frown a few moments later. "Mona... Akiko is sorry she lost." She mumbled quietly. Between the difference in power level, Nema's slight height advantage, and the fact that he had more experience, particularly in the ruthless style of fighting that the the tournament demanded, it wasn't surprising she had lost. Naturally, this was little comfort to Akiko. It always stung when you tried your hardest and still failed. Akiko wasn't one to linger long on dark thoughts though. At least the rest of her family had won their matches! At least, they had won in all of the fights she had gotten to watch. Oh yea!

"Big sister won.. right?" Akiko asked meekly as she let her big, hope filled eyes drift between her sister and Mona.

Akiko always referred to Mona by name, unlike the others whom she would refer to as 'brother' or 'sister' as often as not. Adopting brothers and sisters was easy. Akiko never had any where she was raised and she was happy to embrace her new found family. That family included Mona, who had taken on a motherly role, but adopting a mother was harder. Akiko just couldn't quite say 'mother' out loud. It made the chibi saiyan feel guilty, like she was somehow betraying the parents who raised her.

Trish & Mona

Trish and Mona had been training for the last three days, a little ways away from the mainland and the village. To be quite honest Trish did wonder why they didn't take Akiko for this as well but after awhile it was explained by Mona. The girl was still young and needed to be around family for the most part including Lena and Tobias. Every time Mona said Tobias's name she could only think of how Grisha and him were getting along being a comedic duo but the laughter would only be when she wasn't training. Mona could feel every blow her daughter gave, especially when her power grew beyond hers at this point but she herself knew she couldn't be beaten by her daughter, In fact she found a bit of competition in strength wise but when it came to tactics. She still lacked. Trish and Mona both worked hard increasing there speed, strength and stamina but it could only go so far in such a short amount of time.

Trish and Mona had been sparring most of that day it wasn't too long until they both sense the power levels rising. Sad to say for the two they were unable to really go into battle but they did trust there friends to be on top of things for the most part. Trish had insisted they'd go anyways since they were "Family" but Mona denied it for now however… it wasn't long until they themselves encountered something. The power level was tremendously rising as it neared them.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me…." Mona said.

"Oh boy… Mom please tell me this is part of the training…" Trish said lifting herself from the ground where she had been laying down resting.

"Far from it dear…" Mona said before charging her energy.

Suddenly a hulking alien like creature walked up over a hill to where the two could see him. The eyes were full of hatred as they looked over the two saiyans. His fist clinched before he cracked his neck. He began walking silently before stretching. The silence only could make them sweat especially when they could feel the power level rise by the minute. Trish took a few steps back as he came closer with Mona only taking one before yelling out to him.

"Who are you and what do you want?!"

He only grinned. "As expected like my employer said there are two of you… Saiyans… I will be your annihilation!!"

Mona smirked "You really don't know a thing about Saiyans do you? With that power level… my daughter alone could destroy you"

It was after that when Mona dashed to the hulking alien and gave powerful blow that had been block only to send him flying backwards. He growled as he landed only to get up, clinching his fist once more and although the punch had looked promising that the fight would be over quickly. That had not been the case Mona and Trish could still feel the power level rise within two minutes if there was a scale he'd been 8000. This was when the younger female began to build a little fear but it didn't mean she'd stay back and let her mom have all the fun. In an instant she suddenly flew into the air before descending quickly with a kick. This time instead of simply taking the blow he seemed to have caught it rather easily before tossing her towards Mona's way.

Mona had caught Trish before stabling her to where she could stand against. The two females panted slightly exhausted but they knew they couldn't just let themselves fall victim to this alien and by how things were going they couldn't let him live too much longer either. They could once again feel his power level rise and before they knew it, he had moved to attack. The hulking aliening dashed grabbing Trish by the neck before throwing her into the ground. The girl screamed as her body was pushed with so much power into the ground. Mona managed to catch up before leaping into the air dropping her foot against the man's back causing him to tumble only a few feet away before pushing himself back to his feet.

"Is that all you two got…?" He ran up to Mona nailed her directly in her stomach. The woman gasped as she lost her breath flying back noticing his power level had risen in the moment of pushing her daughter down. The woman landed against the ground opening up a few of the wounds she got in training. The pain made her scream but it was no where to what she felt before when fighting goulden.

Trish lifted herself up panting before wiping her mouth.

"I'm not done yet!" She said with a grin. The girl sprinted forward and gave a few jabs that were blocked until the last but it didn't make him move in fact he took it only to tumble back a little before growling angrily. The two then dashed towards each other before exchanging blows to the fist and body however Trish worried about this mainly because every minute that passed she noticed the creature's blows becoming worse and eventually her guard will break! Mona finally managed to get up struggling. She could feel the massive energy coming from the man at this point which matched even her daughter now. He was definitely no saiyan but this creature did have a bit of fight to him but she wondered what his actual limit was. The woman shook her head trying to charge whatever energy she had before flying with all she had before getting behind the man. She then cupped her hands before sending a ki wave. The man only managed to notice a second after it was launch when Trish quickly flew back and was sent to the ground.

The alien screamed as the wave threw him back making a small crater in the ground. Smoke covered the area at this point and dust moved from the ground. Trish had flew to where her mother was by this point and looked over at Mona.

"Is he…" She asked quietly.

"Well Lydia… sense it… he's no where near it… in fact… its still growing…" Mona said and in that moment those two could hear a growl before a barbaric scream.

"So you two do have some fight in you?! Your tournament looked pathetic but I see this training has done some good for you hahaha" The alien said as the dust cleared. He then growled clinching his fist as he charged his energy up by himself. The two women went wide eyed as they felt the earth around them shake. "Now let the real fight begin!!!!!!" He screamed before rushing to Trish. His fist glowed with energy as he roared thrusting his mighty in this one punch before the two saiyans could react. In that moment the fist collided with the girl's ribs before the sheer energy sent her flying through the ground causing an explosion at the end. The teen screamed in agony as the blow was made and what felt as her body cracked.

"Lydia!!!" Mona screamed as she saw the explosion. The Alien chuckled as he stretched the fingers of his fist as he looked towards the landing of Trish.

"And to think.. I'm not even at my maximum...." He said before looking back to Mona with a bit of a psychotic grin. The man then smiled before moving his hand in a gesture. Mona in rage rushed over and engaged in combat the two began bumping fist and blocking blows. The creature smiled before trying to hook shot Mona at the end but she quickly evaded it giving an immediate counter to his chest. The two continued for a little longer exchanging more blows. Mona could still feel her daughters energy which kept her going but the sheer fact that she was hurt was devastating even more so when she remembered her husband's death. It was in this moment when another hook shot was made and was deflected and she quickly pressed her palms into the man's chest before releasing a ton of energy once again sending him down. The man screamed as the energy sent him down crashing once more into the ground. Mona rushed to Trish who had just gotten up but was coughing out some blood.

"Lydia... we can't stay here!" She exclaimed not thinking of the whole situation.

"We don't have a choice.. this guy is going to go after our friends next and they're further away.. we in fact know they're in some danger too from what we sensed earlier." Trish said panting before wiping some of the blood from her mouth. She then stood up straight before getting into her stance.

"He's coming!!" Mona said also getting into her stance.

The man rushed towards them grabbing them by the arms before spinning letting Trish go. For payback and to get the stronger one out of the way not knowing how Mona is. He send an energy blast of his blow exploding upon impact and it was by the point when Trish screamed and suddenly was in shock, nearing to faint from all the damage. Mona on the over hand successfully managed to evade the crash and bounce herself back to her feet only to look in the direction her daughter screaming once more in a worried tone. The man laughed and pointed towards Trish.

"That was for all the times you blew me into those craters, you're next -" He began until noticing she had already been flying with full speed towards him in a rage. Energy bursting and leaking from Mona's body. Suddenly she unleashed a initial punch blowing the man into the air before he spat out blood. The woman then continued and followed up with 6 punches keeping them going further mid air. The man was stunned through it all and couldn't even breath. She then finalized the assault by making her way with above him and kicking the man down and to the final reach of her power sent down the largest energy wave she could. The man screamed in sheer agony as his body crashed upon the ground. Mona herself found her body exhausted and couldn't hold it in the air free falling to the ground.

Although it was faint she could still sense the alien alive after the dust cleared she could see the man walking weakly.

"I'm not going,,, to lose to you... You who were weaker then that thing..." He spoke pointing towards Trish who had fainted moments ago. Mona was annoyed by this and lifted herself panting on the edge. "This ... is the end... all or nothing... Lydia... If I don't make it.. I'm sorry I wasn't there as mother for so long..." Mona thought as she looked at the alien weakly. The two charged there energy to the maximums and released there final blows. Lucky to Mona her's went straight through the alien's body but in exchange she took heavy damage which caused her to land right next to her daughter fainting only seconds after reaching out to hold Trish's hand.

Blaze's flight path took him directly towards Grisha, but another familiar presence became known to him which he recognized as that of Trish. There was another power as well, one which was smaller but still prevalent and Blaze couldn't tell who that was. At the moment his mind was working a bit too hard to figure it out as he raced to find Grisha.

It didn't take long for him to get there and he saw Grisha face down in the snow.

"Grisha!" He shouted as he landed in front of the larger Saiyan.

"Grisha, what happened?!" He asked, grabbing the Saiyan's arm and hoisting him up off the ground.

Blaze was confused by what Grisha was telling him, but was happy he was awake all the same. For some reason he thought losing his tail negated their brotherly bond, and Blaze was all too happy to set his worries away.

"Grisha, your tail will grow back." He said, bringing his own tail around and holding it lightly in his hand.

"My tail was bitten off in the woods when I was a kid by a mountain wolf. It took about two weeks to grow back, so at our age today I'd wager it'll probably take a month, maybe more. But it will come back. I promise." He said, letting go of his own tail.

He took a moment to close his eyes and relax himself despite the cold air around them. He extended his senses and found Akiko coming in their direction not far off. Trish and the other person with her seemed to be close to zero power, which meant he had to go find them the instant he knew Grisha would be alright. He also sensed another tiny presence approaching. It was so faint he almost didn't sense it at all, but he recognized it right away.

"Grisha... The village isn't gone, unless you mean it was destroyed somehow in your fight. I can feel Lena's presence not far away and the rest of the village seems alive and in halfway decent health at least. Some of them feel a bit weaker than last I was here, unless there's a sickness going around of some kind."

He opened his eyes.

"Will you be alright here? I can sense Trish nearby and she's badly wounded. Stay right there until Lena arrives. I'll meet you back in the village proper once I find Trish." He said.

With that, Blaze rocketed off towards Trish's location. It had been a while since he'd seen her, but he could feel her power still on the decrease so he powered up to maximum as fast as he could and flew even faster as he tore trough the sky towards them. It only took a few minutes, and when he arrived he landed nearby and powered down as he approached the scene. It was quite gruesome. Trish was out cold and the woman whom he had been introduced to a while back known as Mona was there too. If he wasn't mistaken, it was her mother, but he had a bad memory for things like this so he wasn't entirely sure. He walked over to Trish, who seemed the worst for wear between the two and flipped her onto her back to listen to her heart. It beat weakly, and he knew he had to get her back to the village so Lena could look after her. Mona was in bad shape too, so he picked up both women under his arms and flew off towards the village as fast as he could, powering up once again to maximum to do so.

His sides burned badly, but he fought through the pain as he continued on his way. He could tend to his own wounds when he was sure that Grisha and the others were alright.

Akiko

It was slow going for Akiko. Like the others, she had taken quite a beating. Still, the little girl flew on, struggling to stay airborne the whole way. Her whole body ached, especially her head and side where that nasty woman had cut her open. By the time Akiko neared the mountain, she could feel Trish and Mona, and blaze had already shot off in their sisters direction. If Blaze was flying about that quickly, he must be okay! Though the chibi saiyan's concern for her sister's only grew. After all, the girl could barely feel them now that their battle was over. Blaze would know what to do though!

When Grisha came into view, kneeling in the snow, Akiko let out a small squeal. "Big brother!" She shouted excitedly. Despite her pain and exhaustion, seeing the Giant Kicked the child into overdrive. She dove at Grisha, and if he didn't move, the two would collide with Akiko warping her little arms wrapping around the back of Grisha's head. The sudden impact would no doubt hurt, but the child had been too excited to think of that before hand.

"Big brother! Big Brother! Big brother!" Akiko cried happily over and over again as clung to Grisha with a death grip. The child was almost crying. She was vaguely aware of Leana approaching, but it hadn't clicked just yet. She was too happy about seeing Grisha in on piece. "You okay?" The girl finally asked as she scrutinized her brother Or at least, what she could see of him from while clinging to the back of her head. "At least you had a fight up here an not in the village, huh?" Of course the child had no way of knowing what had taken place during Grisha's fight.

Powered up as he was made fighting through his pain almost unbearable. The searing feeling was like someone was pressing a white hot iron against his side where the muscles had frayed beneath the skin from the wound he'd received. He was sure that if he kept this up the wound would only get worse, but thankfully he had been flying fast enough that he was now reaching Grisha's location once more. As he got closer he saw that Akiko had found her way here, as did Lena, but Grisha was still all the worse for wear and hardly able to even stand on his own anymore.

Blaze powered down as he got closer and let his energy fall away so that he didn't expend more than necessary and the searing sensation eased slightly. As he landed he saw that Grisha could barley even sit up which wasn't good at all. If Grisha, the strongest member of their family, couldn't even sit up then he had expended much more energy than he should have during that fight. Then again, since it was a life and death battle as Blaze could easily tell with his own match, Grisha did well to stay alive. Blaze landed softly and set Trish and Mona down gently to avoid causing them any further damage as he walked over towards Grisha. Blaze gave him a once over and then took in a breath as he extended his right arm and began gathering energy in the palm of his now open hand.

To anyone else, it looked as though Blaze might blast Grisha in the face with an attack as a ball of red energy began to swirl in the center of his palm, but as Blaze opened his eyes there was no killing intent. Blaze gave a small grunt of effort and the wave flew at Grisha and struck him in the chest before enveloping his body in a red glow. Blaze let his hand down and bent over a bit as his pain began to flare. Losing energy like that took away some of his ability to fight the pain in his side, but he continued to fight through it as he stood up straight and picked up Trish and Mona again.

"I gave you some of my energy Grisha. It's nothing like Akiko's healing power, but it should be enough to at least get you on your feet again." He said, giving a grunt of effort again as he hoisted Trish and Mona up a little higher.

"Let's go now. We need to get inside and out of this snow. A nice bowl of soup would be nice too, if it's not too much to ask Lena." He said, looking over his shoulder at her with the best smile he could manage through his pain.

Akiko

Akiko! What did you do?!"
Akiko's Expression changed from happy to worried in the blink of an eye. She hadn't exactly meant to plow her brother into the ground, but it couldn't be helped now. At Leana's word, The chibi sayan helped flip Grisha over. It Normally it wouldn't have been too hard to lift Grisha's body weight, assuming the giant didn't fight her. However, it was quite the strain on an already bloody and beaten body.

Once they had Grisha face up, The child plopped into the snow while the two had their mushy moment. Everyone was alright, Akiko didn't quiet understand why Leana was crying. Still, the chibi sayan couldn't help Grinning when they laughed. Maybe they were just so upset before that they needed to cry more? Akiko herself didn't quite break into giggles. Partly do to her exhaustion, but also because of the cold. Akiko had spent most of her life of a desert planet. The snow capped mountain was a big change. Though she had learned to appreciate some of the fun snow games one could play, the little girl still disliked the cold itself. Too bad snow couldn't be warmer!

It was this aversion to the cold that mad Leana's mention of a hot soak all the more inviting.

Lena turned to Akiko and smiled. “If you take a bath like a good girl, then the monks will make us a big feast.”

"Yay!" Akiko answered instantly. Despite the promise of getting warm, It took the child a little time to get back to her feet. Akiko's cracked ribs, wounded head, the wound in her side, and every other muscle in her body all protested the movement. Yet, she wasn't the only one struggling. Grisha could barely move. It took a couple of attempts to get into the air, and she was wobbly at best, but the child, determined to help Leana and her brother, Hovered over Grisha and took the arm opposite Leana. Her little arms couldn't hope to wrap about the giant fully, but she got the best grip she could, using any scraps of clothing that may be left to help, and pulled up at him as he moved.

Unfortunately it didn't last long. Unable to keep up the energy needed to fly any longer, Akiko dropped back to the ground rather suddenly, with only her face and the snow to break her fall. The child whimpered as she sat up again. She couldn't heal herself, or anyone else like this. She needed time too rest, like back in the hospital. Getting up again was even harder than before, but she got a little incentive via the return of Blaze with Trish and mona.

"Trish! Mona! Are they okay?" Akiko could barely feel their energy. When Blaze set the ladies down to tend to Grisha, Akiko stumbled over to look at them. They looked even worse than Grisha! But they were alive! Akiko could feel it, and see the fog of their breathing in the snow.

It was the burst of energy from Blaze that drew the girl'd attention back to her brothers. Blaze knew how to share his energy? That was great! When had he learned that? She would have to ask him later. For the smaller of her brothers was returning to collect their sisters, and Akiko had a more pressing question.

"Why did they attack us?"

The child looked from one battered face to the next as they prepared to move on, hoping that maybe one of them would have the answer. Then, she cast her blue eyes up the mountain. The sight brought tears. It was so high... It seemed all the farther when Akiko and Grisha could barely walk. Blaze didn't seem too much better and her sisters were unconscious. This... just wasn't Fair!

Almost as if the Saiyan had answered her prayer, Blaze dropped from the sky with two familiar females that Lena hadn’t seen in a while.

“Trish and Mona,” she said on a fearful breath as she gazed upon their condition.

Akiko had beat her to the question that had just entered her mind.

Trish! Mona! Are they okay?

The blonde looked to Blaze for an answer but as he approached Grisha, he seemed concerned with another matter. The red energy that swirled at the palm of Blaze’s extended hand glinted like distant stars in Lena’s mesmerized eyes. The way they all harnessed such power baffled her. She didn’t even think beings of such power existed until Blaze first came to their home. She and the villagers knew that Grisha was from elsewhere, but he hadn’t displayed the magic Blaze was conjuring. She jumped when the energy shot from Blaze’s hand to coat Grisha like a translucent sheet.

Grisha’s weary cells were desperate to drink up the donated ki, the red aura seeping into his flesh and granting him the energy to stand, but at the mercy of his sore muscles. Opening his eyes, Grisha bore his teeth as slowly he attempted to stand. Again, Lena attempted to help him, gripping his arm and trying to keep the giant steady. Grisha rose shakily and groaned softly.

“No feel pain like this since Squid Face (Golden). Ugh...” at the moment he thought about the villagers and having to round them up and herd them up the mountain. He didn’t think he had the power to even defend them against wolves. It was going to be a challenging trek for all of them. Uncurling his hands, Grisha stared at them as they softly shook in his weakness. Turning them over, he gazed at the blood that had coagulated and the black shards still embedded in his knuckles. He had been angry. He almost hadn’t recalled what had happened, but his hands reminded him.

“Grisha was angry. Angry like mountain. No know what happened. Grisha burned like fire and beat Red Hair with fists. Muscles feel torn,” Grisha informed.

Lena inspected Grisha’s hands. “Oh my god, Grisha your hands. I’ll look at them when were out of the cold.”

She then looked at Blaze when he asked for soup. The sadness that came to her expression spoke louder than words. She couldn’t fulfill his request. At least not soon.

“Village gone, Little Brother.” Grisha frowned deeply. He hated talking about it. “Bad guy destroy village. Kousetsu gone.”

Lena stared thoughtfully at the snowy ground for a few moments and then her brows rose. “The houses are gone, but the basements and cellars should be still intact. If we can get everyone to search the snow for the cellars, then everyone can rest there for the night. You all can stay in our cellar. There may be some food there. Hopefully, you’ll have enough strength tomorrow to reach the bath house where you all can heal. The sooner the better. With everyone’s help, we can rebuild Kousetsu!”

Grisha mused on Lena’s optimism before a small satisfied smile pulled his lips taut. “Grisha like idea. Rest and little strength return tomorrow.”

Lena walked over to pick up Akiko and hold her so she didn’t have to walk or fly as much.

Why did they attack us?

Grisha looked at Akiko and turned his lip up in disgust at the question. “Weak, little babies think stronger and bigger than Grisha. Heh, no.”

Blaze continued to carry Trish and Mona as they all made their way back to where the village once stood. The other villagers were all huddled together to keep warm, and the closer they got the more Blaze thought about something that he could do to at least give them a helping hand in warming up and avoiding the cold. When they all got close enough, Blaze wasted no time in cutting right to the chase as he looked over at Tobias.

"Tobias, we need to locate the cellars to get everyone out of the cold. I'll keep everyone warm while you all search, but please make this as quick as you can manage. I won't be able to hold it for more than about fifteen minutes." He said.

Tobias was about to protest, but he leaned over and set down Trish and Mona at his feet before he could say anything.

When he was done, Blaze took a breath and gritted his teeth against the wounds in his side as he slowly hovered into the air above the villagers. Blaze took a few deep breaths and let them out on hisses as he focused his energy in and out, in and out. His energy flowed in and out with his breathing, slowly expanding outward in waves which gave off a faint red light. Wave after wave of energy expanded until at last, Blaze gave a single shout as his energy shot outward and enveloped the entire village area in a solid glowing red light.

It was a technique he created on a much smaller scale for himself when he lived in the mountains to keep warm during snow and rainstorms. He'd never done it like this before, but it was a way for him to simply extend his energy outward in a field to warm the air and protect against the temperatures outside the circle.

However...

"Tobias... I take it back... You've got five minutes!" He called down, clenching his teeth as a small trickle of blood seeped from his mouth.

He had underestimated the energy expulsion it took to maintain a field this large, and it was burning his sides so much that his teeth were clenching much tighter than usual and causing him to bite the flesh inside his cheeks, hence the blood. Sweat dripped from his brow, and he could only hope they managed to at least find a few cellars before his energy ran out.

Akiko

Akiko Listened to Grisha, Leana, and Blaze speak with a small frown. She hadn't realized until then how bad the damage to the village was, or that the place she had come to see as home was damaged at all! All the houses were gone...? Even their house? The worst of it was seeing Grisha so defeated... Thanks to Leana, however, the depression soon lifted.

“Grisha like idea. Rest and little strength return tomorrow.”

Akiko managed to smile again at the encouraging words, and she gained a whole new level of respect for Leana.

"Yea! Akiko will help!" The chibi saiyan chimed in.

Akiko didn't protest at all when Leana came to pick her up. In fact, the child reached out, gratefully but gingerly, and curled up against the woman in the smallest ball possible once she was in Leana's arms. Being out of the snow, off her feet, and against someone warm was a change that was more than welcome.

"Thank you Leana..." She mumbled quietly, only to giggle when Grisha called their attackers 'babies'. "Uh huh! Stinky cry babies!" She added with a nod. Being able to relax after the harsh battle and the flight, Akiko quickly found herself fighting sleep despite the cold.

By the time they reached the village, Akiko dead to the world. The talk of Blaze and the others fell on def ears. It would take a little doing to wake her. Though, she did uncoil from her ball slightly when the warmth from blaze hit her.

When they returned to the villagers, several began to gasp in relief at the sight of Grisha, and some even recognized Blaze having been so used to him being in the village. A few children, Akiko’s friends, crowded around Lena to watch the little girl sleep with pleasant smiles despite the tragedy.

“Grisha, are you all right?” an older man asked.

“Grisha you look exhausted.”

Tobias walked over with the infamous apron—odd how it managed to survive—that he held up to Grisha with a small scowl. “Here, do us all a favor.”

The Saiyan had been standing in his underwear for awhile and Tobias would never get used to it. He didn’t know how people were able to ignore Grisha’s junk-gnawing tighty-whities, but he sure didn’t. He had to spare the women and children the sight.

Grisha stared at all the villagers who crowded around him with concern shining in their eyes. They hadn’t once scolded or rebuked him for failing to protect their home. The giant sniffed as tears began to bubble in his eyes. Suddenly, the ground shook beneath them as Grisha dropped to his knees and wrapped them all in a tight, crushing embrace.

“Grisha so happy!” he wailed.

The villagers looked ready to pass out from the back-snapping hug. Tobias simply threw the apron in Grisha’s face and walked over to Blaze and his daughter.

Tobias... Blaze began.

Lena’s father executed an about-face and before he could manage to walk off, Lena snagged the back of his sweater, keeping him there. He glared over his shoulder at her before he turned around to cross his arms before his chest like the scrooge he was. Opening his mouth, he took in a breath of protest until he saw Blaze set down the unconscious figures of Mona and Trish. Biting back his protest, he glanced back at Blaze to see him preparing one of his hoodoo-whatsit-spells. Whatever it was that his freak family did.

Lena looked to her father still holding a sleeping Akiko who was obviously cold. The sight made Tobias imagine his daughter with an infant, which horrified him a little.

“You think I can locate those cellars on my own? You’re crazy,” Tobias griped.

His request wasn’t a one-man job.

Tobias...I take it back...You’ve got five minutes!

Tobias huffed and turned around to consult the villagers.

“All right. We’re all cold here. So if you want to get warm, I’m going to need you to locate your cellars. If you visualize the village, you should be able to remember where your house was. I know mine was...” Tobias frowned in concentration as he began walking the mental map of Kousetsu. He stopped when he thought he found where he and Lena’s house use to stand.

“I think it should be he-”

The snow collapsed under his feet, revealing a rectangular hole and flight of descending steps. Lena winced as her father screamed all the way down the staircase. Holding Akiko close, she jogged over to the cellar entrance and peered down inside, “Dad, are you all right?”

“Found it,” Tobias replied wearily.

Immediately, the villagers started looking for their cellars. The children were having the most fun bending over like dogs and sweeping snow left and right with their hands. Soon families were disappearing into the snow to get warm.

Akiko

The sounds of chattering voices and the laughter of other children woke Akiko soon after they entered the village. The chibi saiyan rubbed her eyes and blinked a few times before looking around from the security of Lena's arm. Though it took a few moments for the girl to wake up fully, it didn't take her very long to figure out what was happening. Especially with Tobias in the cellar. "Akiko will help too!" She announced cheerfully to Leina. Though she was still hurting and worn, that nap down the mountain had helped a little.

Though she moved slowly and and felt her muscles protest with every movement, Akiko made her way to the closest group of people to help them dig as soon as she was set down. In her weakened state, the little girl was only as helpful as the other children, but every little bit helped! Despite the cold of the snow and the pain, she even managed to have a little fun with the project when a couple of her friends joined her. They giggled and shared a few silly words about the situation, like the fact that they were going to live like rabbits.

It wasn't until the last few people started making their way inside that Akiko started back towards their own home to do the same. Even though the cold wasn't as bad thanks to Blaze the little girl still hated the it! Though, If she were totally honest with herself, it did help to numb the pain. It was as she dragged herself back towards Lena's cellar that Akiko first realized Grisha was missing something. The chibi sayan had been so concerned with just getting the giant on his feet before that she had completely overlooked it. Now the child just stared at Girsha's butt in a wide eyed stupor.

Even knowing the had precious little time until Blaze's strength gave out, she was frozen in place. Then... Well she had to ask.

"...Big brother? Where's your tail?" Came the question, along with a worried a frown. The child gripped her own tail as she asked the question, as if worried it was going to fall off at any moment.

Akiko

Akiko was vaguely aware of blaze stumbling over, and of Lena rushing to help him. She was aware that the woman had been speaking and even said her name. However, when Grisha turned to speak, the chibi saiyan's full attention lay solely on the giant. The brake down hinted at by the quivering lip was not lost on her.

“Turtle Man blast Grisha tail off! Grisha so sad!”

“You big baby!” she shouted angrily. “It’ll grow back! You should be happy to be alive!”

“I’m glad that blasted tail’s gone. It was nothing but trouble. Every time someone accidentally grabbed the thing they were sent flying off into space.”

Akiko stood stock still. She just stared at Grisha for several moments before tears welled in her own eyes. "Awwwww!" Akiko scurried towards her larger brother, or rather, hobbled over, as quickly as her broken body would allow to hug his leg. "Poor Grishaaa!" The chibi saiyan whined. She would be devastated if she lost her own tail! How could they not understand?! "It'll be okay!" Akiko assured her brother as she pat his leg. She would have do do something to make him feel better once they were all feeling better! "It'll be O-" The little girl started again. However, she paused mid sentence when she heard Lena speak again.

. “When you’re done being a wuss, you can come down into the cellar for some soup. We should still have some food stored down there. And there is no saying ‘no,’ Mister. You and Akiko both need to rest!”

"Food!" The child squealed happily. If Grisha didn't tag along, Akiko would leave him beside as made for Blaze and Lena. The girl was in such a hurry that she nearly tripped over Trish near the cellar entrance. They couldn't leave their sisters outside! "Akiko will help!" She announced suddenly before grabbing Trish's top, along with part of her hair, and pulling as hard as she could. Weakened as she was, Akiko could only move her sister a few inches at a time on her own... Poor Trish.

Akiko

Hurting and exhausted, Akiko struggled on, tugging on Trish. They couldn't leave her and Mona outside! They just couldn't! The slow progress had the chibi saiyan frustrated to the point of tears before Blaze staggered over to help.

"Akiko, let me help. You support her head and I'll lift her legs okay."

"Okay!" Akiko answered quickly. The relief was written all over the child's face, Akiko stopped pulling on poor Trish's hair like a cave man in favor of supporting her sisters head while Blaze got the legs. The chibi Saiyan helped as much as she could as they made their way into the cellar. Then, once Trish and Mona were settled, Akiko promptly plopped onto her bottom next to the make shift bed.

As Leana tended to Grisha, Akiko took Blaze's lead in examining her own wounds. Of course there were numerous minor scrapes and bruises, including the dark ring forming around her throat, but the child focused on locating the major wounds. A cracked skull accounted for her dizziness... and Akiko had some ribs to match. The deep gash in her side was the most obvious though. She'd been able mend the major vain and stop the rest of the bleeding just after her fight, but all the flying, digging, and lifting that she had done sense had the wound slowly seeping blood again. The chibi saiyan was hopeful that if she just relaxed now, the slow bleeding would clot and stop on it's own though.

Despite the nap she had gotten in Lena's arms, Akiko was thoroughly worn out. Everything would be better after some sleep... She could probably even touch up the worst of everyone's wounds. That thought alone was enough to cause the child to relax. However, she had barely closed her eyes when Blaze's voice broke through once more.

"Akiko, can you come here for a few moments please."

A small groan left the little girl as she opened a single, sapphire eye to peer at Blaze. "What is it?" She whined. Akiko really, really didn't want to move. It took quite the force of will for the chibi saiyan to push herself to her feet. Once up, Akiko wobbled for a moment as a wave of dizziness passed over her. It took a few moment before Akiko could drag herself over to the smaller of her brothers to look at him in a droopy eyed stupor.

Blaze watched Akiko drag herself over to him and he almost laughed were it not for the pain in his sides.

"I know you're worn out Akiko, but what's going on inside me is truthfully a life and death situation. If this isn't dealt with immediately, I might not be around when you wake up from your next nap." He said wearily.

He picked up his left hand from his side and aimed it at Akiko as it began to glow red.

"These are the absolute last few ounces of energy I have left Akiko. Whatever you can do to help fix what's going on will be of help... But please, be strong and do this for me. I have come to think of you, Grisha and the others as family and I'd rather not die here after we've already come so far together." He said quietly.

With that, and without waiting for any further backtalk, he fired the last of his energy into Akiko's tiny body. A red hue enveloped the child, and while it was a relatively small amount, the fact that both of them were Saiyans made the transfer of energy that much more potent. He knew that the chibi Saiyan would have the energy to heal him after that, as he meant every word he had said to her. He didn't intend to die here. Not when he and his new family had come so far together. He needed the little girl's help now to stay alive, and he could only hope she'd be able to deliver.

His hand fell to his side and his body went limp against the wall, unable to sustain holding its own weight any longer. With the transfer of his final reserves of energy, Blaze slumped down to the floor, his eyes just barely able to even remain open beyond a squint.

Trish & Mona

As Trish's eyes were closed she some what could hear and feel everything that was going on although for the most part she had been in a daze as well as feel the constant pain of she and her mother's previous battle. She only completely came back to realization when she felt herself being placed upon a flat surface and laid there for only a minute. A few small grunts and twitches came from her as she felt the pain of moving as her eyes began to open slowly. Her head had been to the side and interestingly towards her mother who was placed next to her at the time which it was then when she suddenly gasped in surprise. First of all, It came clear they were definitely not on there training ground or tent. Secondly was the fact that she remembered engaging in battle and it was clear that she was fighting with all her might. Was she really defeated? As painful as it may have felt she moved her hand to her forehead trying to remember what exactly happened but all that she remembered was fighting the giant alien and suddenly hitting the ground incredible hard and then to top it off remembering her mother scream her name. The teen shook her head humming in a straight tone. Once she was done she looked to see Blaze slumping down to the ground obviously injured and then looked to see Akiko whom also didn't look her best at all.

"W-what happened...? " Trish could only wondered if they were the ones who saved her and her mom as she asked that. She began to get up to walk over to the two but once she got up to her feet she collapsed onto the ground barely catching herself by her left hand and knee. It was then when she didn't feel like moving at all only managed to prop herself back before looking over to her mom.

"What happened to Mom...? "

It was then when Mona began to wake up and began to spoke.

"N-no worries Lydia... I got rid of him.." Mona said with her eyes closed but she had no energy to move any parts of her body.

"By what I'm feeling we're around the rest of the gang... How are they...?" She then asked.

Grisha’s hands were treated and wrapped, and the giant slept comfortably against the wall with his hands folded over his stomach and feet propped comfortably on baskets. His chest swelled and sank with deep resting breaths that sounded like the warrior wouldn’t be disturbed by even an avalanche if one decided to happen.

Lena had seen Trish and Mona stir, Trish making her stirrings the most known with her attempts to stand. She needed to regain her strength and Lena thought that the best way was in a bowl of loaded and creamy soup. She carried two bowls over to the girl and her mother, setting both bowls next to Trish seeing as Mona still looked too winded.

“Here, this should help you both get your strength back,” Lena offered with a smile. She then overheard Mona’s inquiries. “No worries. Everyone is exhausted, but they should all recover. The village, unfortunately suffered from the attack. We plan to travel to the Temple in the Mountains tomorrow. We’ll be able to reside there safely until the village is rebuilt. The monks may also be able to offer some of their healing techniques to you guys.”

“Oh, pardon. I have to check on the others,” Lena said before she stood to check on Blaze and Akiko next. Blaze was looking horrible and it made her heart ache to see him looking so sickly.

“Oh my god, Blaze,” the blonde said. She looked to little Akiko. “Akiko, please save him, and if there’s anything my father and I can do.”

“Me?” Tobias protested as he sat comfortably by the fire with a full soup bowl. “I’m eating.”

“Father! He’s dying!” Lena exclaimed with tears glittering in her eyes.

Tobias frowned stubbornly and sighed. “Fine. Whatever she said. Whatever we can do.”
