"Hold on the docking for a second..." She bit her lip nervously. This was going to be another complication.
She frowned she pulled the report up on her watch. Classified. This wasn’t an Alliance vessel and the Civilian databases had been overwritten years ago. If this gas was coming up as classified then it meant none of her databases had it. This was some serious shit. Her breath sighed out in a terse hiss.
"Any idea what this shit could be Monty?" She grit her teeth. This place was getting more and more suspicious. She opened a communications panel to the mess hall. "Charles. I need you on the Bridge as soon as you’re ready." She wasn’t going to tip her hand to this guy just yet. If this was a deathtrap, she wasn’t sure what he’d do when he got caught in it.

Charles snapped out of his deep stupor to nod a farewell to the other still in the mess hall before stepping out to hail the elevator to the bridge.
As he waited, he tried to picture the previous use of such a vessel as the Qi, for surely a mere smuggler-captain wouldn't be able to acquire one like this straight off the line. Had she been an atrittion attacker during the War? A blockade runner? Something entirely different?
And yet, it still looked quite pristi-
His thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of the elevator, which he stepped into as soon as the doors opened.
After a quiet ride, he stepped out to be greeted by a stunning view of a station in tatters.
The Tycho-class Stationary Research Platform was always a rudimentary, though efficient design. The Alliance had standardised it for practically any station involved in researching under-the-radar matters. The fact that this one was hidden deep within a nebula marked as "hazardous due to extreme debris" certainly helped the concealment.
Looked like concealment didn't help it any.
"You required me, Captain?"

Ju Min watched as the Agent stepped off the elevator. She watched him carefully, noting the weight of his steps and how he held himself on the elevator. It'd been a week now, less time than she'd told him, but Zasha had a good grip on the engines and nothing had gone wrong. Well, until now. Seemed like all the shit had waited on the Station for her. She should have been suspicious when things were going well. Things never went right, the only constant was that something was always going to go wrong.
"Yeah, is there anything else you want to tell me about this station?" Suspicion seeped into her voice, tainting it with a hint of venom. "Because there's a gas in the systems that isn't in any of my databases and you have thirty seconds to explain to me what the hell is going on here."
No signs of life, barely any damage, and now some unknowable gas. This station better pay out in spades at this point. Simple salvage mission, her ass.
Charles snapped his attention away from the station to the Captain staring daggers at him.
"This facility is Installation TYCHO-GPCR-054. The GPCR stands for "General-Purpose Clandestine Research"; that means you can expect practically anything within, because the facility was never custom-modified for something such as bioweaponry or robotics. Their research field would depend on what the Alliance demanded, and if an odd gas is floating about, they were most probably tasked with chemical weapons research shortly before shutdown."
He stepped a little closer to the window, crossing his arms.
"First, I'd recommend sending down a simple mining probe for an atmospheric scan. Noting the chemical composition would be a good start. Second, the electrics aboar the station seem to still be functioning in most sectors. The Tycho-class stations are typically equipped with a rudimentary artificial intelligence for handling simplicities from door control to security systems. If it is still operating, it will be a significant nuisance at best and a danger at worst."

"Have you noticed any of the supplementary systems acting up recently?" Zasha asked as she started to wash the dishes. "I haven't done a complete examination of all the mechanics on the Qi yet, it's just not possible so soon, but if I need to keep an eye out for something else that doesn't pertain to the main engines I'd like to know in advance."
She paused. It was probably a good idea to check the EVA suit to make sure everything was working correctly, just in case something went wrong on the station, so she started to hurry. Small fingers stacked, cleaned, wiped, and had the kitchen to rights in no time at all.
"Sorry to rush off," she said as she walked quickly out, "but I want to do a few more checks before we go aboard. I'm not sure what to expect from the station, so I want to cover all my bases."

Ju Min rolled her eyes. Typical Alliance, what else did he expect her to have? Multiple EVA suits, a mining probe, sure, it’d be nice to have a cook too, but there were certain things that a smuggler’s salary did not permit one to keep on board.
"Chuck, this isn’t the Alliance. We don’t have mining probes on standby here." She bit her thumb. It wasn’t going to be worth risking exposing everyone to whatever this gas was. She counted off on her fingers for a moment. She might have just enough. Barely. Kiran, Zasha, Charles, Monty, Herself. She might have just enough of them.
"We’ll use the SCBAs. I have a few kicking around the ship." She wasn’t entirely sure about putting this many resources into a new crew, but she wasn’t going to have a crew if she didn’t.
"I’ll have them ready at the airlock. Monty, dock the Qi, but keep the airlock sealed until we’re all ready to go." She stepped off the Bridge and headed for the elevator.

"Captain, I've checked the EVA suit, is there any other equipment we'll use on board that I should take a gander at?" She sent over the comm, drumming her fingers against her pants. There wasn't much else to do, other than putter around and quadruple check all the things she'd already gone over thoroughly. Of course another check was never wasted, but she did prefer to be useful.
Picking up a stray duffel bag, she examined it as well and decided it was good enough to carry whatever she needed from the other ship, and if necessary, she could simply leave it behind. New supplies were all well and good, but survival was of premiere importance. If she had to, she'd leave it and drag one of her fellow crew members instead off the station--she was stronger than she looked, and most Captains appreciated it when there was no one left behind to die alone in the dark. Unless you were on one of those rough ships were it was everyone for themselves, but she tried to stay away from those. Hopefully the Qi was crewed by people who actually gave a shit about everyone else.
The setting changes from The Black, The 'Verse, Firefly and Serenity to The Qi
Charles had retreated to his personal quarters, where he was doing final checks on his gear. Ammunition for the MagSnub, check. Blade, check. Breach-And-Hack tools, check. External air tank, check; the ORION-5 had a small emergency tank built in but Charles was taking no chances: a larger-capacity external would always be more useful.
He had learnt that from Operation Pantheon, all those years ago.
Most important of all the equipment, though, was easily the PDA. It was his map. His voice to the probable AI presence. And most importantly, it was a storage for a certain particularity.
His shit in order, Charles ran through the plan yet again. Get in. Get the device. Get back aboard the Qi. Wait for the ship to move on and get within planet distance. Expunge all witnesses and steal an escape pod.
Dead easy, right?
Right.
Rising, he exited his quarters, heading up to the bridge to watch the docking maneuvers.

Re: Sanguine Caifu
I'm sorry guys, I have been away for a heinous amount of time. >__< This being an adult shit is NOT all it's cracked up to be and grad school choices are WAY harder than I want them to be.
Plus, the longer I'm away the more I get into an anxiety-spiral about not having posted, and then I don't even want to log in, and then I have nothing to post, then I feel guilty about having nothing to post and then I just want to hide under my bed and never do anything ever again.
If any of you are still interested in this, I think I've picked apart the majority of my writer's block and I have plans to move forwards, so let me know if you're still interested here.

I hope I'll be able to get a post up after you time skip, but my internet is going to be a bit spotty for the next week or two, or gone altogether because I'm moving and no idea what the internet situation will be like when I get to my destination. So I'm still very interested in this RP, I just gotta get the internet to make it work! And hopefully things will get back to normal in March, although I'll be back in CST.
Re: Sanguine Caifu
So, I figure we'll close out this episode pretty soon, once everyone either goes to bed and/or decides to stay up all night suspiciously browsing space-reddit.
After that, to keep the plot going I'd like to time-skip to the day before we hit the station. That way, if you want to have any conversations with people or the like there's still some time to do that before we start getting into the action.
Cause if it took us 5 pages to get through one day, I'd rather not be 50 pages in before we see any combat...
Re: Sanguine Caifu
PM me if you want we can work on plot stuff and/or figure out how we can open it and transition from this arc (which I am thiiiiis close to calling "all Aboard the friend-ship") to the station.
Re: Sanguine Caifu
The station he wants to go to is not what it seems.
Re: Sanguine Caifu
Re: Sanguine Caifu
Also, we should probably discuss the episodes coming up, since the Pilot is going well so far but I don't want it going on forever.
So, who has any ideas for episodes? I figure we can send out ideas and see if any of them stick.

If it helps, all the posts are listed under "Posting" regardless of location. That's how I see everyone's posts, and from there I can put myself in any location. That's my cheat, but I'm not picky.

And then you can all meet Kiran.
