Intro

No person braves the godforsaken desert man calls ocean of his own free will. Whether prompted by necessity or desire, there is always motivation, no matter the extent of its sick and twisted will. In the name of justice, though— isn't everything alright?

Such is the logic keeping confined the world's most dangerous juvenile criminals. Are they masterminds in their own right, or are they just in dire need of re-education? In the hopes of the latter, they're brought to Santa Reina island for that very purpose. Located deep within the pacific, no man in his right mind would brave the fickle seas to find such a place. Even the island, in all its beauty, has an ominous air to its existence. It is surrounded by nothing but the open seas. At times, the water will rise to the cliffs, pregnant rainclouds gathering in the sky and flooding the fields with torrents of water. Other times, the sea will calm until its surface is nothing more than a glassy extension of the soundless sky above.

On the surface, the island appears to be untouched by man and time alike. The castle on the cliff sticks up like a rotting tooth into the pure sky above, its grey façades nearly overtaken by the lush greenery so ubiquitous around the island. Flowers grow in fields, and the animals, though dangerous, keep well to themselves. Though it's practically a jungle and the air will, at times, fill with insects, there's an undeniable beauty to the place.

But there's no beauty to the life behind the confines of the ancient grey walls.

With no chance of escape, students are taught the art of assimilating into society. The classes are small, and guards are never far off, but, in a way, life can seem almost normal in this hopeless place. With a thriving population of youth, never a day goes by without trouble, but even with the constant plague life can fade into a dull rhythm. You've been put here. Only you know how long you'll be here. There's a roommate, classes, lunch, and perhaps even the hope of romance. If you ignore the guards, dressed in their drab uniforms matching the walls, your life might pass for normal.

Granted, you're hardly a normal person at all. Why is it you're in here? Arson? Murder? It's hardly a place for the average delinquent. They sent you all the way here, across those miles of godforsaken blue, to be confined by a prison built only to confine the queen of queens. Santa Reina Island— yes, there's meaning to that name, and you know it.

So tell me. What's your name?

Expectations and Such

This thing is pretty darned casual. Focus on developing your character— I'm not going to give a damn about word count and your having perfect grammar. I encourage anyone to join, even if you're doubting your skills. Try to be active, though. I'd prefer this didn't die.

Characters? Fire at will. They're yours for the creating. I've got no pre-defined roles, in part because I'm a lazy bum and in part because it's more fun this way. Fill this out to the best of your ability. Pictures are always awesome but aren't required. Although I will be annoyed if you don't have a thumbnail.

Note: Inmates are able to buy items from abroad it their families provide them with a monetary allowance. These items must pass inspection and meet the warden's approval, but otherwise, they're free to order anything they want. Inmates are likely to have a variety of non-uniform clothes and some decoration in their rooms. They manage their own allowances, so what they have depends on how much money their parents have set aside for them and nothing more.

- I'm a nice person, even if I seem mean while I write this.
- Your character must be sane rather than someone who should be put in a mental facility. Characters absolutely must be high-functioning.
- Your character is not good at everything. Your character won't get away with anything. And no, the fact that your character is a special little genius doesn't mean a thing to the warden.
- All characters will have a cell-mate. No switching around— you won't get to pick. Unless one cell-mate poses a major threat to the other and must be put into solitary, there's no change in who rooms with who. Male and female characters can be put together.
- There are cameras in the ceilings of the cells.
- Everyone follows the schedule.
- Your Extra Special Genius character can't leave the island until there's a good plot reason for it. It's in the middle of the Pacific and is only accessible by boat or by planes with special landing clearance.

Re: Santa Reina: Juvenile Correctional Academy

First post to be up soon =___= sorry guys, final projects are killing me right now. I swear this isn't dead or anything— not at all!

As for solitary, I think we just may have another character on the way, so I think I might wait and see on that, actually. I guess we lucked out, for now. Solitary's still an option, of course, if you're a troublemaker enough.

Re: Santa Reina: Juvenile Correctional Academy

I dunno, it'd probably make sense that one of the worst offenders, the two in the group convicted of murders anyway, be put in solitary. So I guess either ILN or my characters. I don't mind my character being in solitary, but I got no better reason storywise sad to say.

Re: Santa Reina: Juvenile Correctional Academy

I'd prefer for my guy to be with others - I think it would be good for him. Thanks for accepting me, by the way.

EDIT - Yeah, that makes sense. I don't mind if Alaric is whacked into solitary - I'm sure he would find some way to exploit the situation.

Re: Santa Reina: Juvenile Correctional Academy

Any preferences on cell-mates? We'll probably have a pair and a group of three unless someone wants to be, for some reason or another, in solitary.

Re: Santa Reina: Juvenile Correctional Academy

Look forward to getting this started soon! Just waiting to see if any more characters are coming in. I should have the first post up within a pretty short span of time.
