Long live the human heart!

Personality
In Bitter Evolution, Ember didn't have an inkling of what emotions were and had never felt any type of emotion since she was a child. Now thought... She's gotten worse. There practically is no more life in her face. She's always calm, always stoic and... dead. The only thing she appears to feel is pain and the sudden tension in the air when people talk about her face. Ember hasn't totally lost the feel of her emotions, the hope of her feeling them again is just... slim and very unlikely. Her sense of right and wrong had always been weak, but now its just gone. She won't pause to kill a two year old child - Neko or Sapien. She'll kill you if you get in her way now.

Gifts and skills
If you call death a skill, than Ember might just be gifted/talented. That's practically all she knows.

Fears and weakness's
Ember doesn't have many know fears, but she is afraid of the water, and can't socialize like a normal person would. She also fears/dislikes contact with other beings. Like skin to skin touch. She also has nightmares of someone finding her in her sleep and strangling her. This happens especially when she's not in battle. Her fear of dying in her sleep makes her an insomniac. She also has several weaknesses. Someone mentioning her brother would cause an emotional reaction, one that could bring back horrible memories of being in the medical center for two weeks and the pain of how her brother tortured her. She also doesn't like people mentioning babies or children for unknown reasons.

Ember lost her spartan amour and now goes like a normal bandit/soldier; In blackish-greenish metal plates arranged in the same areas as Gabriel's.

Back tracing my steps...

History
Ember was raised in a military academy, rarely ever seeing her parents. She also has a twin brother. Both learned at an early age that Emotions were discouraged. So, they adapted but they still didn't lose their emotional view of things. When she was 14 years of age, they were being sent out as assassins and already taking part in some pretty gruesome battles. When she was 16, her brother was sent out on a private field, and she never saw him until two years later. He'd been taken as a prisoner and was tortured for a year and a half. He only came because he'd gone crazy. He killed their parents, and almost killed her. Yet, for some reason, he let her get away with some brutal wounds that left her in the medical center for two weeks. Now before his disappearance, Ember was actually very... human-like. She showed some emotions but in very small degrees.

Anyways, Ember has been caught and imprisoned several time by rival clans. One of her recent battles had led to abandonment by her own people and teaming up with Gabriel, her enemy. Traveling with Gabriel has been very tough due to the great number of questions he asks her, and the dumb jokes. She really does not like Gabriel. That is until they've come upon Ace's little cabin. Throughout the conversations about emotional attachments that confuse her she has actually felt something... She doesn't know what it is, nor does she want to find out.

Owsla

Owsla hissed loudly at Ace, taking offence to being told what to do. She didn't know him, she wasn't his house pet and was sure as hell not his gaurdian. "You're not my caretaker, so don't treat me like a pup blonde." She growled as she turned his back to him. She felt uneasy around these people, like she was only supposed to have passed through and needed to leave fast.

The feral girl tilted her head to the side, still not facing the blonde neco. "You don't know the stories. You really must not be from a clan at all." She said with a sigh. "They say he lead the clan that brought cities to their knees. The beast that tore human and neco alike to peices and tore out their throats. They say he has no soul or consience. There is no reasoning with him." She turned her head to look at him with her one blue eye. "Those who survived his wrath say that they can't look at blue lights in the dark with out breaking down in terror, and one day he dissappeared." She turned away from the blonde again. "No one knows there is even a man under the armor that makes him the beast he is. Though as a Neco general I wouldn't be surprised if he was just a maddened killer."

Owsla's shoulders quivered a bit, head lowering a bit. She hated telling people about the armored beast. Something about telling the story made her want to crawl in the corner and cry, like failing to defend something that she knew was true and was being made fun of for it.

"They say he was killed in a village raid along with his wife and kid, but survived to kill those that murdered his family and now wanders the wastes."

Ace Tyrant

"I don't know who this Jennifer is and unlike you I will have no emotional or physical connection with a potential enemy or potential traitor..."

Ace was starting to lose his temper with Gabriel now, the guy just seemed to be snapping at his ankles constantly like some kind of savage Jack Russle. If he had dared he would have hit him square in the jaw by now, but the blonde knew it was likely he would end up in a worse position. "Jennifer was not my enemy, she saved my life and basically baby sat me until I reached adult hood, taught me how to defend myself, gave me life skills and then I don't know if she was taken or if I was deserted but she just vanished. I feel like I still owe her and being all too honest I loved her, that's all." He spat. "So imagine if you lost Ember. That is how I feel right now."

"We are going back to our clans. Once we find a city, we will separate. I will go re-join my military in what ever battle strategy they concocted and do what I was made to do. Serve my superiors."

The males once handsome face hardened slightly, lips pressed into a thin line and eyes sharp. "Is that all you want to do? Do you not have a personal aim Ember? What are you exactly doing? Defending others or serving pest control to Sapiens? Please tell me you are not doing that." He sighed rubbing his brow. "I guess I cant stop you. I am going to miss you."

"You're not my caretaker, so don't treat me like a pup blonde."
"You don't know the stories. You really must not be from a clan at all."

Ace began to smile smugly, eyes bright and mischievous. "Are you sure its bright talking to me like that? You are wounded and at a disadvantage." He stated, putting on a false melodramatic tough-guy voice. "I'm kidding, but nobody is here to hurt you so just calm down." The male's heart sank a little at her second comment, eyes rolled low and sorrowful. "Everyone is dead, I am the lone wolf."

"They say he lead the clan that brought cities to their knees. The beast that tore human and neco alike to pieces and tore out their throats. They say he has no soul or conscience. There is no reasoning with him."
"Those who survived his wrath say that they can't look at blue lights in the dark with out breaking down in terror, and one day he disappeared."
"No one knows there is even a man under the armour that makes him the beast he is. Though as a Neco general I wouldn't be surprised if he was just a maddened killer."

He swallowed hard, listening to her story. Ace could just remember the maddening smile etched upon the face of a shelled being that stalks the ruins. Jennifer became rather friendly with the thing, but he could not help but hate it. "I...would it be mad if I said I have experienced something similar." The blonde strutted. "Though it did not seem aggressive. I thought it was just mechanical software working...Creeped me out."

Owsla

Owsla snapped her head toward him. "You've seen him?" she asked, now paying him attention. The girl turned herself around fulled to face him and held herself up with her arms as she sat cross legged. "Where? Where did you see him?" Her voice was frantic, as if what he said was important to her.

Her leg started to shake with impatience, tapping her fingers on her knees. Every person she had talked to about this "beast" only told her the stories that she already knew or had information that was just...stupid. But to have someone who had actually come in contact or even saw him and lived was more than enough to keep her from stealing most of their stuff.

"What did he want? Did he do anything at all or something?" He said, sending death glares at Ember as she spoke to Ace. She didn't get why the blonde had such an attachment to the woman anyway. She gave no scence of feeling, caring or anything. Just to "serve her superiors". If that meant clans of necos bent on starting something again, then she wanted no part of it. Never mind the fact that she already had a bad taste in her mouth from necos from a young age.

The only reason why she stayed around now was to get any information out of the blonde while she could.

Ace Tyrant

"Where? Where did you see him?"

"Wow calm down. Its not like he has a pile of sweets for you shrimp." Ace laughed, though his eyes narrowed as he wondered why Owsla cared so much about some stupid story. He guessed her clan stories were something very close to her heart. "It was a good few years back with Jennifer, it crawled around the ruins and had huge metal armour and this creepy smile etched on its face. It might not be this "him" you know. He was not particularly hostile towards us and was pretty alright with Jenn actually."

"What did he want? Did he do anything at all or something?"

He sighed rolling his eyes and crossing his arms before letting his words fall out. At least the kid was talking to him about something she was passionate about, that was bonding right?. "I don't know, was just looking for supplies I guess. I heard that it had a bit of a go at one of the people I met, over Ember? I think she went for Ember and it protected her." He turned to the brunette woman and blinked, wondering if she remembered any of this.

Ace watched as Ember fell silent and began to turn away. His heart sinking deep into his stomach with a hundred spoonful's of guilt. "I guess I pissed you off...I did not mean to. Just... I don't even know. Please Ember."

Owsla

"It was a good few years back with Jennifer, it crawled around the ruins and had huge metal armour and this creepy smile etched on its face. It might not be this "him" you know. He was not particularly hostile towards us and was pretty alright with Jenn actually."

Owsla tilted her head to the side and lowered her head in thought, completely ignoring the shrimp comment. If it was looking for supplies, that meant The Beast wasn't as hostile as others said he was. Considering the fact that Blondie must have not looked like a threat at all at that time anyway. However, the discription was spot on to what she had heard about him. "I said he wondered the wastes not randomly attacks people." She said, snorting in annoyance.

She rolled her eyes at the blonde tried to appease Ember. The Beast must have kept her alive because she was different from the cold emotionless...thing she was today. She sighed. "She's like any other neco from a clan Blondie. Somethings you just can't change." She said as she crawled over to a small corner and curled herself up into a ball.

She was tired, a long day of wandering and being attacked from out of no where and now dealing with this idiot. If anything, this place was the safest place she had been in for a while. She soon dozed off in her corner, looking more peaceful then she had been in weeks.

Marishka & Gabriel & Ember

Marishka was silent the entire time the strange people began to talk. Her eyes were anime like and from the way she didn't look at Gabriel, Ace and Ember, she was uncomfortable with all the arguing. Where she came from, her parents never fought in full view. She looked only at Owsla's sleeping form and anything other than the tensed Necos in front of her.

Gabriel watched Ember stalk away from the group. It was such an abrupt gesture that he couldn't help but grin. "First sign of emotion I've seen yet." He looked at Ace and tipped an imaginary hate to him. "I tip my hate to you. You got under her skin or you just brought up a topic I never had or will have the guts to do." He walked over to the cabin and couldn't help but study it while he strolled around it. He sighed and pulled himself onto the roof. He lay back on the roof with his hands behind his head and closed his eyes. Owsla did remind him that he hadn't had any sleep in the last 31 hours.

Ember had found her way to the top of a hill nearby with a view to the surrounding area. She sat and ran her fingers through the loose dirt, her mind trying to shut the memories leaking from the vault she locked them in. The brother she worked with. The betrayal and then that emptiness. The hard work she put into shutting off the emotions and memories. Her green eyes glowed with anger at herself.

(Famished I am waiting on you twatface. Also is Owlsa in the cabin?)
Ace Tyrant

"I said he wondered the wastes not randomly attacks people."

Ace sighed, crossing his arms and glaring at the little white haired girl with a puzzled expression. "I did not say he did, I was just going off what you had told me about him." His tone into something soft and concerned, which was a familiar voice for the blonde. "Why do you care so much? I know it is a story from your clan, but still you are like a old Sapien and their television programs," He asked.

"She's like any other neco from a clan Blondie. Something's you just can't change."

He fell into silence, face lowered as his pupils followed the panther of a woman. She had gone. She had left him. Left his life. Even though Ace could relate her to Jennifer, she was not her. He was sure Jenn would have stayed along side him, or at least responded and gave him a slap for trying to tell her what to do. Ember did nothing, just left with out a word. "I know. I'm a fool for thinking otherwise."

"First sign of emotion I've seen yet."
"I tip my hate to you. You got under her skin or you just brought up a topic I never had or will have the guts to do."

Ace flinched as Gabriel "tipped his hate on him," eyes growing wide and shiny as he struggled to breathe drowning in this hate. "You know some people don't like to sit there in ignorance. This is reality we are living in. You can go round playing toy soldiers but apart from fighting, you don't have a clue about anything do you?!" He snarled, tempted the smug grin of the angelic male.

He then pranced up onto the roof, looking as though he was settling down the same as Owlsa had. It left himself and his "sister" who had held silent all this time along side him. "You guys do realize I have spare beds right?" Blondie shouted, not that Gabriel would be welcome in his home. He then turned back to Marishka with a sad expression. "Lets get inside..."

Ace Tyrant

"Sorry, but I can practically hear the trees calling me."

The blonde let out a long sigh and rolled his pupils at the girl who could have been his younger sister. That was how Ace wanted to view Marshika and how he wished her to see himself, the same with Owlsa though she was much more stubborn. The man watched her prance towards the nearest tree and make her bed upon its bark. To him it did not seem like the place you could get the best nights sleep but who was he to question her preferences? "Just make sure you are safe and out of sight. You got that? I have already saved your backside once before I don't want to be doing it again. Goodnight." His voice almost seemed father like and weirdly, it fitted him perfectly.

After a few moments Ace began to lose focus, eyes secured upon the hill that Ember that had seeked alone time upon. He wished she had not left his side, but the blonde could not say he regretted what truth he spoke even if it had earned him a verbal beating from Gabriel.

"Ace."

Oh and now he was sure he was losing it. He even refused to glance over his shoulder at where that blissful sound had come from. It had happened before time and time again and it bit his heart with the most awful pair of fangs. "Shut up." He spat, before turning to head back to the Cabin, resisting the urge to spend hours searching the forest. He made it to the doorway before leaning against its frame with a thousand wishful thoughts running through his mind.

"Blondie."

"Shut up." Ace spat once again, harsher this time, though careful not to wake dear Owlsa napping in the corner. Red hot tears now threatened to spill from his eyes and roll down his cheeks. Why did his mind need to wreck him like this? Had he not dealt with enough today? He turned to the forest which stretched out before him to find her stood there too close for comfort.

Jennifer.

At first he froze, blinking hard though no matter how much he did her figure would not vanish like usual. Ace stepped towards her slowly, like he would with a fox who could so easily run away. She was here rather often, just a ghost who still wandered between memory and reality. He was close enough now to hear her unsteady breaths and with a simple stretched arm he could touch her face. He moved to do so but paused before his fingertips met her cheekbone. The blonde began speaking to her as he would when his mind fucked him over before hand, not realizing her form was real.

"I really messed up today. I found some old...friends and made some new ones. Once again I find myself being weak Jenn. I'm so sorry."

Ace Tyrant

"I just need to rest,"

Ace felt as her palms warmth left his shoulder, causing him to tick back into reality and watched Jenn slowly make her way over to the bed. Her steps seemed unsteady and under confident. In silence she crawled into bed before tucking herself in the corner, causing the raven haired girl to look awfully weak and unflamilar. The sight made Ace sick, but he could do nothing but stand and glare at the poor girl.

Sure enough, she had most certainly returned to him. However, she was nothing like before. Here she was critically broken, with out the will to fake a cold persona. He was pretty sure something must have triggered her emotions to collaspse in on themselves like this, and the itch in his brain to find out who the fault belonged to was unbearable. A unwanted thought suddenly growled in his mind, was this just what all false shelled people became? Would Ember meet a similar truth just like Jenn? He still could not help but relate the pair of them. Both of them have some dickhead male friend who is going to want to gut Ace at some point.

"Thank you, Ace...I'm sorry..."

It was only at that point that the blonde realized she was crying. For a good long while his eyes just remained locked upon her, doing nothing while a thousand thoughts battered against his skull. After that he sheepishly crawled under the covers before slowly and surely pulled himself behind her into a couple spooning position. This way she did not have to face him and display her 'weakness' but he could still comfort her and allow her to push him away if needed. He was playing a very risky game indeed.

"Hey...You called me Ace. First time for everything..."

Owsla

As dazed as the feral child was, there was one thing that she hated more than anything. And that was being grabbed and pulled somewhere. For a moment, she didn't know what was going on. She didn't have a clue who this girl was that was pulling her, and for a moment, she let her pull her away.

Her mind started to come out of the fog that was the morning once she was out of the house, causing her to look around for a quick a moment and start to yank herself away. "Dont touch me!" She screeched before giving a screech that sound more animal than neco, but something familiar residing in it. She quickly slipped her hand out of her grip and sped back into the house on all fours.

She wasn't sure why she felt the need to run on all fours when she was running. She was good at it, but she didn't know how she got skill to do so. She quickly sped across the floor, brushing Ember on the leg as she skittered back to her crawl space, her knife unsheathed and trumbling as memories of every failed escape started rushing to her mind. She was a small animal cornered, and she was not afraid to lash out like one.

Recognition flooded Jennifer's mind, the woman before her struck some chord deep within her. She'd seen the face, long ago, if only for a few moments. It seemed to have saved her from having to fight.

"You would stab me," she mused aloud, though there was nothing but a withdrawn expression on her face, "for being startled? For trying to lift her up?"

Words didn't seem to fit what she was feeling at the moment. She felt...empty. And suddenly, useless. Even trying to be calm, she had frightened a young girl. Even trying to be kind, she was viewed as a threat. Fitting. Her ears caught the gentle sounds of a frightened girl, a young mouse, tucked away in a corner, quivering.

"If you are going to slice me, I invite you, do so now. If not, I ask that I may pass. I would like to get some water, and leave this room. Blondie," she gestured to Ace's sleeping form, "is still sleeping."

Truth be told, she wouldn't have minded being hurt. Stabbed. Killed, even. Since waking, she'd felt achingly empty; emptier than usual. Death would be welcome, at this point. She could be with James again. Be with her family again. Be with--

No. No, she was not dead. Was not.

"May I pass."

She had no patience for this. Either she would be killed, or she would not. She did not care.

Ember Wolfe

"You would stab me," she mused aloud, though there was nothing but a withdrawn expression on her face, "for being startled? For trying to lift her up?" Ember felt a sudden rage flood her systems when she heard the Stranger's words. She didn't know why, or even where the anger came from, but her thoughts were scrambled. She was fighting herself, the part that craved the feel of metal slicing through flesh, and that part of her was almost nearly all of her. The part of her that was trying to cool the anger was weak and faint but she felt it telling her not to kill this woman there and then. Her internal conflict was slightly visible from the way her fists clenched, and unclenched, the flexing and the stilling of her biceps. The way her eyes darkened then go slightly out of focus as if she weren't really there at all.

"If you are going to slice me, I invite you, do so now. If not, I ask that I may pass. I would like to get some water, and leave this room. Blondie," she gestured to Ace's sleeping form, "is still sleeping." Ember quickly glanced at the bed and saw Ace sleeping in a fetal position, and she glanced at him again to make sure he was breathing. Confirming that Ace was alive, the anger suddenly faded from her system. Her narrowed eyes softened just a tiny bit, and her stance relaxed somewhat. Ember let out a breath that she hadn't known she was holding in. "May I pass."

Ember let her eyes stray from Ace's sleeping form to the stranger. Her eyes narrowed again, her eyes becoming sharper than they were before. She stepped aside, and didn't bother to watch the Woman leave. Ember walked over to the bed, and was about to nudge Ace, when she realized her hands were shaking. She clenched her fists, trying to wipe that detail from her head as she jabbed her knuckles into the Blonde's backside. "Ace... Wake up..." She spat the words out from her gritted teeth. Still trying to get over the fact that she had almost lost herself in the rage... again. But I didn't... She thought, silently, letting her exhaustion show for just a second and then quickly shoving that out of her head. Why?

With a defeated huff, Jennifer swept away, slowly padding through the house, her leather boots making hollow clunks wherever she placed her foot. Why did it bother her so, seeing the relief in the woman's eyes as she looked upon Ace? Why had it made cold fear swarm through her belly? What was she to Ace? Why did she care?

With a snarl, she rounded a corner and slammed her right fist into the wall nearest her, cracking the surface slightly as her trembling knuckles made contact once, twice, and then stayed. What was she even doing here? Honestly. Why had she come back? For sympathy? For someone to care for her? Was that really what she had fallen to? Needing someone to hold her and tell her that she was alright? Pathetic.

But that is what you need, isn't it Jenn, darling? That is why you came. To him. That's why you came to me in the first place, anyhow, after Kelly and you had that nasty fight, remember? You came to me, trembling lip and watery eyes. 'What did I do wrong?' you whined. 'How do I fix it?' you whimpered. Poor thing, you've always needed someone to make you feel all better, haven't you?

Blowing out a hot breath, she connected her fist with the wall once more, widening the crack further. After a moment of silence, she regained her stony composure (let no one see you crack, Jennifer) and turned her head slightly, sharp eyes falling upon a small girl, tucked into a corner, knife held in front of her as though to ward off an attack. Pain surged through Jennifer's stomach.

"I suppose," she half-whispered, her voice still hoarse, "that you, as well, are frightened of me?" She almost smiled, though it was more pained than pleasing. "I share that sentiment."

((Super duper sorry guys, don't hate me!!))

Owsla

Owsla's eyes calmed a bit, not seeing a threat in the woman addressing her. Her eyes pointed to ember, the woman that cause much uneasiness in her. It was unnerving. She couldn't feel any sort of emotion but the urge to kill in her. And it frightened her. She shifted further away from Jennifer, but a look of what could be a mix of curiousity and irritation crossed her face.

"How do you know blondie?" She said, getting to the point of her curiousity. She watched past the woman. "You don't frighten me. I don't know you and how do I know you won't kill me here or take me back to the clans." Her hand shook, but lowered as she could feel her arms growing tired.

He head snapped toward Gabriel in surprise. She had forgotten that he was here with the other woman. The man who had mended her healing arm, though the subject of much scruteny from her. "Besides. What do you want?"
