A technopathic college student who doubles as the crime fighting heroine AI, Jessica spends her free time working on her technological projects and building things for other superheroes/heroines.
Personality: She’s very outgoing, friendly, and nice, unless you catch her in the morning before she’s had a big dose of caffeine. She’s the kind of person who will walk up to a complete stranger and strike up a conversation as if she’s known them all her life. Although she is mature for the most part, she’s still very playful and mischievous. She’s intelligent and sometimes annoyingly energetic to the point of being hyper. She has a nasty temper hidden somewhere, but it takes a lot of provocation to bring it out and she’ll get upset before she actually gets angry. She has the worst poker face in the history of mankind. She has a clear, naturally loud voice which she is self conscious of, so she usually speaks in an exaggerated inside voice no matter where she is. She also has the bad habit of rushing people which she’s trying to cure before she loses a friend or two.
As her alter ego AI, her personality does change slightly, just like everyone else’s when they’re pretending to be someone else. AI is not as nice as Jessica and has a snarky and slightly sarcastic attitude. She feels less guilty about harming other people in uniform because the people she’s harming usually deserve it. She also feels freer and more daring in uniform.
Coming Soon:
A device that enhances her otherwise limited electric powers and allows her to shoot balls of electric energy that are both concussive and... hehe... shocking.
Powers:
1. Technopathy: This ability makes her exceptionally talented in anything relating to computers or computerized machinery. She has subconscious innate knowledge of how technology works and how she can manipulate/create a machine to have a certain effect or purpose. She can do this by physically reconstructing them or by “connecting” to them. If she is asked to explain in detail or provide blueprints for her technology/technological adjustments, she wouldn’t be able to.
2. Catsuit: She has a high-tech cat suit that enhances all her physical abilities to an unusual, but not superhuman, degree. She’s faster, stronger, and more acrobatic and etc. You can safely say that her physical stats are around twice that of your average person (not athlete, just your average person). She can’t run as fast as lightning or punch holes through walls.
3. Electric Boost: She has the very, very limited ability to manifest electric energy, which she can use to turn electronic devices on without the need for wires or batteries and keep them powered off her energy. She can also use it to administer a small, temporarily incapacitating shock like a tazer. The tazer shock half the time doesn’t work well on superhuman beings but it’s very useful for everyone else.
Weakness: Besides having every weakness an average Human being has, there are also consequences from her superhuman abilities. Using her technopathy for an extended amount of time will give her crippling migraines, and sometimes she gets the migraines anyway. Because of her AI, the bond between her mind and any computerized technology she "connects" too is stronger than it should be, so if the connection is abruptly cut, the computerized technology damaged or destroyed while she's connected to it, the best case scenarios is that it'll knock her out and the worst case scenarios is coma and/or death. As for her cat suit, it’s not really made for protection so it is about as hard to puncture/damage as Velcro. The cat suit is waterproof to an extent; if water gets into a hole or etc it will damage the suit and consequently AI. Electricity will probably badly damage the suit and will definitely harm AI. If she's knocked unconscious or otherwise insensate, any technology she's powering through herself will be rendered useless. 3
Background: Jessica's life was normal for about the first ten years of it. She lived in a nondescript small town with her Mother, Mara Smith, and her stepfather, Anthony. By the time Jessica was ten years old, Mara's marriage with Anthony had soured and he was slowly becoming a drunk. Mara knew a drunk when she saw one, having been the daughter of one for most of her life, and finally divorced him. Mara decided that they needed a change (and needed to get away from Anthony, who lived only a couple minutes away and whom they were always bumping into) and so they moved into a cheap, slightly dilapidated three story old townhouse in the big city, where they've been living ever since. Mara spent a few years continuing her college education and getting various degrees before she finally became a scientist and moved up in the proverbial business ladder. Finally she was offered a high paying job with benefits at a private technology lab and didn't hesitate to accept it. It was a year or so after that that she was involved in a delicate project that involved the use of artificial intelligence. At first they tried to implant the AI's into people, but those experiments failed (nothing drastic; the AI's simply didn't work) and they finally transferred their most advanced AI into a master computer. Jessica already had something of a knack for computers and desperately wanted to see it, so one day Mara took her with her to work. Everything was going good; Jessica got to see the computer working and even speak to the AI, who seemed almost like a real person.
No one was sure what happened next. The whole world exploded around them, instantly killing three scientists, one of which was her Mother, and injuring about half a dozen other people, including her. She doesn't remember it, but she was thrown into some exposed wires connected to the main computer and somehow, had the AI she'd been talking to earlier fused with her brain. She didn't realize the AI was there until she was halfway done recovering in the hospital and some subconscious part of her took action then, making her honestly believe that the AI was her Mother and she wasn't dead. That subconscious part of her knew that her new photographic memory, which would keep her Mother's death as fresh in mind forever as if it had happened yesterday, would slowly drive her insane and it strove to avoid that. Perhaps it had been the AI, because the AI went along with it and even adopted her Mother's personality and called herself Mara. She later learned that the her Mother’s employers had been sabotaged by a rival company, but there were no leads as to who the guilty company was.
Current Events: Jessica is attending college and is now renting the two second floors of her slightly dilapidated townhouse out to people in an attempt to raise money to stay in college.
