The red stilettos made a distinct click-clack noise against the hardwood floor of the hallway. “Where are they
” she muttered to herself, while turning around to walk the way she had just come. Dr. Leblanc was prone to pacing when she got nervous. And anyone knew better than to disturb her when she was in one of these moods. Not that there were many people left to bother her anymore anyway. Today was a very big day, and she was extremely nervous. She had no idea what was going to happen over the next few days, but the world hung in the balance. Humanity hung in the balance. Pretty much everyone else in the station thought she was absolutely nuts. That was fine with her.

Dr. Leblanc had done her research. She had found ten young minds and bodies who all had something to hate about Maya Virtuele. She hoped it would be enough to help them end the virtual world for good. Not that it should be extremely hard to do so. All they would have to do was find Dr. Holloway. And her boss was extremely smart, and would know that when the kids explained how reality was falling apart, he’d make the decision to shut down Maya Virtuele. He was truly a good person, and never intended that his invention would completely make the world fall apart.

If anything the fact that his invention was so successful was just a testament to how brilliant his mind was. He had made the virtual world so beautiful and alluring, that people didn’t want to leave. But it was time for it to be stopped. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching from down the hallway. Her head pricked up, instantly on alert. This had to be them. The ten she had personally asked to save the world. A big responsibility, but they were her only hope. And then her saviors rounded the corner, in a straight line, escorted by four of her trusted assistants. They lined up in front of her, some looking confident, others looking nervous. She knew each of their faces by heart. Noah Rosenthal, Sailor Westfall, Jesse Kent, Avery Harding, Wesley MacKnight, Ainsley Brooks, Johnny Abington, Chloe Ferguson, Gavin Youngblood, and Serenity Winters. She felt tears come to her eyes at the sight of them all, but held them back.

“Welcome everyone, and thank you so much for coming,” she began, smiling. “You all know what is at stake here, so I’m not even going to mention that. Please, if you could all follow me, we’ll get this started.” She turned and walked the opposite way the kids had come, hearing the shuffling of their footsteps behind her. She led them through a few turns before arriving at a set of double doors. She had arranged this room just for the ten of them. She swept the doors open and gestured for each of them to have a seat in one of the white chairs.

The room was completely white, looking almost sterile, but had soft carpet, and pops of color from art on the wall and decorations around the room, making it look slightly more homey. The chairs looked like slim recliners, and were very plush. There were complex mechanisms hooked up to each one. Each of the ten took a seat, and she turned to face them all. “Your job is to find Dr. Holloway, and convince him to shut Maya Virtuele down. I really don’t think you should have many troubles. He is a good man, and in no way would want to destroy the world.”

She took a breath before she continued. “However, just in case you run into trouble, I have been working on a surprise for you all. Everyone else is ruled by Dr. Holloway, and has to follow his guidelines. Basically they are no different than themselves in reality. However, you will not have the same problem. Your abilities will be seemingly limitless. Anything you can imagine, you can achieve.” Dr. Leblanc was proud of herself for writing this code, and had been working on it for weeks. She had never been inside Maya Virtuele, and didn’t know what to expect. While everyone spoke of it as paradise, she didn’t know what would be waiting for the ten individuals in front of her. She wanted to give them every advantage she could.

“There are of course limits to these abilities. You won’t be able to change your physical form, you will look exactly as you are now. You also won’t be able to change anything in your surroundings, or the land. After all, you are still in Dr. Holloway’s world, and his imagination.” She had begun pacing again, becoming extremely nervous for the ten lives in front of her. The time was close. “I will be monitoring everything from here. I can track your progress and communicate with you. However, you will not be able to communicate back. I will only be able to see where you are heading, not what you are saying.” She walked over to a desk, picking up a tiny, round device. “Each of you will have one of these devices in your ears. This is how you will hear from me. And should you get separated, you can also communicate with each other.”

She placed the device back down, and walked back by the door. She pressed an intercom button, and spoke into the speaker. “It is time.” Within seconds, the doors opened and ten of her assistants entered the room, and each took a spot next to a chair. She nodded, and they instantly began working. The recliners began to recline, lying each of the ten back into a comfortable position. She kept talking as her assistants worked. “While you are away in the virtual world, you will be fed and get liquids through an IV. It’s the only way we can keep you alive.” She looked towards the ten chairs. “Hopefully you aren’t afraid of needles
” she said quietly, more to herself. She then began pacing and talking once more. “You will be deposited on the shores of Annafaire Ocean. There should be adequate transportation there for you, as well as a map of Maya Virtuele. Dr. Holloway is located directly in the center of Maya Virtuele, which should be accessible from a trip across the ocean.”

The assistants backed off, meaning the ten were ready to enter Maya Virtuele. Slight bands had been placed around their foreheads, with a set of glasses that dropped down to cover their eyes. “If you ever get scared, just know that I will be there with you throughout the entire journey. And I will do everything in my power to make sure you succeed.” She walked over to a panel, and took one last look at the saviors of Earth. “Now sit back, take deep breaths, and relax.” She pressed a button, and they were gone. “I hope to see you again very soon
” Dr. Leblanc stood watching them for a few minutes, then left through the doors to head into an adjacent room, where she could monitor their every move.

Avery opened her eyes
and was shocked to find open sky above her. A few puffy white clouds drifted lazily by. Just seconds before she had been staring at a white ceiling in the main station in Los Angeles. The plane ride had frankly been terrifying for her. She just despised heights. And she had never flown anywhere before. She hadn’t even ever left the state of Washington. Not only was she taking her first every trip, but she was for the first time going to enter Maya Virtuele. Her fear of that place made the plane ride a piece of cake.

Yet she had overcome her fears, practically gone against her entire nature, and was here. She sat up, realizing she had been lying on soft, pale sand. It was extremely warm, and she ran her fingers through it, smiling slightly. It was as if she had been transported to the beach in Florida. Or at least this is what she imagined Florida felt like. She finally stood up, brushing the sand off of her
jumpsuit? When had she put that on? Yet she was wearing one, and as she looked around at the other nine bodies lying in the sand, everyone else was wearing one too. Each had a different color, and hers was white.

Avery looked around, noticing that the sand turned into a very rocky and dangerous looking shore to both the right and the left. The waves splashed up against the rocks, spraying mist everywhere. But they were lazily approaching them on the beach, and she weaved her way through her still sleeping teammates to stand in the water. The ocean stretched as far as she could see, and met the light blue sky at the horizon.

It was most definitely beautiful here. Yet she had to keep reminding herself that it wasn’t real. It was how home had looked, at one point. And she hoped it was how it would look again. Then she would really have to take a trip to Florida to experience their beaches for herself. Maybe she could even take Brody with her.

Just thinking of him made her sad, yet somewhat excited. Brody was here, somewhere. If they couldn’t convince Dr. Holloway to shut Maya Virtuele down, she was going to stay and look for him. She had decided that long ago. And if her and her new teammates were successful, she would be able to find him back in the real world. No matter what, she wasn’t going to be satisfied until she saw him, and finally found out what he wanted.

So many people had come here. Almost three quarters of the entire population. And yet they had been deposited in a completely desolate area. Was there a reason for that? Were they going to go somewhere everyone else was forbidden to go? The thought made her nervous. While Dr. Leblanc had said she didn’t think there would be any trouble, Avery wasn’t so sure. Something about this entire situation seemed slightly off.

She imagined, if the inventor watched over all of Maya Virtuele, that he would notice how many people there were, and how long they were staying. If he truly was a good person, wouldn’t he realize he needed to shut it down on his own? All of the pieces didn’t seem to fit. Yet, her caution hadn’t kept her away. Along with saving Brody and the environment, there was another reason she had decided to go on this mission.

Avery had never been the most outgoing person, and making friends was always difficult. She was truly an introvert, never feeling comfortable around people. This entire situation was so against anything she had ever done. And that was why she had to. This trip would have to change her, and make her more confident in herself. And maybe she could even learn to be social and charismatic. She wanted to break out of her shell, but had never known how. So she threw herself in a situation that would force her to do so. She just hoped it would work.

Looking back, no one else had yet woken up, so she looked back out across the ocean, trying to reign in her thoughts and prepare herself for this adventure.

He was dreaming of Serenity. She was back home again in their apartment, with her beautiful, flowing platinum blonde hair. He really missed running his hands through that hair. Her smile lit up the entire room, and she ran up to him, throwing herself in his arms. He spun her around, just like in the movies. And when they kissed, he felt fireworks, just like the first time. Everything was perfect
 until he woke up.

Noah wasn’t in his apartment with Serenity. No, he was with nine total strangers in a virtual world. He never expected to be in this situation. Yet here he was. And as much as he didn’t want to admit it, it was all for one girl. The love of his life. Serenity. If he went and saved the entire human race from dwindling to nothing, she would see so much in him. She would most certainly want him back. And then he could go back to being happy again. When he was completely honest with himself, he didn’t like the person he had become. He was bitter and angry most of the time. He had lost most of his spice for life, and had resorted to just kind of going through the motions. He worked more hours than he could count, came home just to sleep and eat, and then went on repeat. Even his weekends weren’t filled with fun.

He wasn’t going to treat this mission any differently. It was work to him. Even though this virtual world was supposed to be the place of dreams, he didn’t want to get swept up in it. He wanted to get in, get the job done, and get out. He was afraid that he would find Maya Virtuele too appealing, and wouldn’t want to leave. He would almost say he hated his life. The only reason he would never enter the virtual world was because he felt he deserved to hate his life. He had driven the love of his life away. And so he chose to live with his guilt.

It was hard every single morning to get out of bed. Noah wanted more than anything to just leave his problems behind. Working so much helped get his mind off of his depression and Serenity. But when he came home, the emptiness was almost too much. He couldn’t look around without remembering her. They had made memories there, and then she had left him.

He sat up, noticing that most everyone else was still lying in the sand. Yet one other had already woken up, and was standing in the water, staring out across the ocean. She was wearing white, and he looked down to notice he was wearing a similar jumpsuit, only his was a dark gray. He stood, heading immediately to his left towards the rocks. He didn’t feel like being social, and wasn’t going to bother the girl who was staring out at the ocean. No, he wanted to stay out of the way, and observe everyone else.

He couldn’t see their faces, but he had gotten a glimpse at each of them back at the station. He had surprisingly seen Gavin Youngblood, his best friend back when he was younger. But they had fallen apart, so to speak, when he had begun dating Serenity, his step-sister. He wasn’t exactly sure where that interesting turn was going to lead. It could go well, or extremely bad. Other than Gavin, however, he hadn’t recognized anyone else. He certainly would have seen the beautiful platinum blonde hair of Serenity if she would have been there, but she wasn’t. He was disappointed.

Noah stood against the rock with his arms crossed, watching the others, and simply waiting.

Sailor tested her fingers, then her toes, then up to her neck, making sure everything still worked properly. She wiggled her torso a bit, and realized the grainy feeling beneath her was sand. Her slim fingers clenched the sand, enjoying the warm feeling it offered; then slowly let it seep through her fingers.

Cracking her eyes open just a bit, Sailor tried to observe her surroundings, but found the sun was incredibly bright. It wasn't very hot, per say, but you could definitely feel the sun as it's rays pounded against your skin. She slowly peeked through her eyelashes, this time allowing her eyes to adjust. She was laying on a beach, just as Dr. Leblanc said they would be.

She'd done it; she was in Maya Virtuele. Her heart did a somersault in her chest, and she wondered if it was from fear or excitement. Perhaps both? When Sailor had first been contacted by Dr. Leblanc, she hadn't been sure if she should accept. Though the doctor made it seem simple enough, Sailor was all too aware of how danger could creep into seemingly innocent activities. She was sure this wouldn't be as easy as everyone assumed.

But, really, who could turn down a chance to save the world? Imagine the money and status she'll gain from this - she'll be rich. Hell, she'll be their savior! Well, one of them, anyway. After all, she wasn't doing this alone. Sailor sat up, running her fingers through her brown hair to rid it of the sand it had collected. She used this time to observe her teammates, having not properly met them yet. That struck Sailor as a bit odd; shouldn't they meet each other, establish relationships and whatnot before diving into this mission?

Oh, well, they were here now. It seemed two had awoken before her; one was a girl, who was staring at the ocean, the other a man who had settled in the rocks. He seemed to be watching them all, probably waiting for them to wake up. The others were an assortment of people, all looking peaceful in their induced slumber. She wondered how their faces would change once they woke.

Standing up, Sailor rubbed her hands against her legs in an effort to scrub off the sand. Her brow wrinkled at the strange feeling of the fabric. Glancing down, she realized she was wearing a...jumpsuit. It was a pale lavender color, that was thick, but also seemed to breathe, allowing the cool breeze in and out. It was incredibly comfortable. Her eyes traveled to her feet, and found they were enclosed in black combat boots.

Sailor loosened the collar of her new clothing, letting the salty air caress her warm neck. Carefully stepping around the others, she made her way to the girl, deciding she might as well start introducing herself. "Hey," Sailor said, her smooth voice coming out a bit gruff. She cleared her throat, "I'm Sailor, Sailor Westfall. Who are you?"

Warmth. That was the first thing Wes noticed as his mind clawed its way out of the fog. He wondered if he'd passed out somewhere, though he couldn't remember drinking. He moved his legs a bit, and found they sifted through something vaguely familiar. He moved his hands, and found that it was sand. Then, it all came back, and everything clicked into place.

He was in Maya Virtuele.

He opened his eyes quickly and saw a clear blue sky hanging above him. It was kind of beautiful; seemingly pristine and never ending. His eyes traveled to the left, then to the right, but all he could make out were dark shapes. Wes decided to sit up, hoping he was the first to wake up. A quick glance around told him he was wrong, three had him beat him to it.

Averting his gaze, his dark eyes slid over those around him. There were some guys Wes made a mental not to keep an eye on, but what really caught his eye were the women. Maybe this won't be so bad after all, he thought happily, his mouth sliding into a lazy grin. I just hope they have some whiskey in this place.

Wes jumped to his feet easily, taking stock of his situation. He was clothed in an all-black jumpsuit that rubbed comfortably against his skin, while he was wearing dark boots on his feet. He was standing on a beach, the water stretching far beyond the horizon, gentle waves rippling the surface. Two women stood at the shoreline, while a man stood not too far away, his gaze settled on the group. Wes looked him up and down and decided he wasn't a threat, then quickly looked at the women again, taking a few moments to...fully appreciate their appearance.

There was no one else around, the beach seemed to be completely deserted. Maybe this place had yet to be settled by people escaping their reality. This virtual reality was supposed to be huge, which was part of the problem. How hard would it be to find this Dr. Holloway?

Nimbly picking his way through the mess of limbs, Wes walked to the edge of the still sleeping group, deciding he'd wait for them all to come to before he introduced himself.

Jesse's mind slowly but surely came back to him as he lay with his eyes closed. What did he have to do today? Well, surely the animal shelter could use some help...he opened his eyes, suddenly realizing that he didn't know where he was. The sun was shining bright on his face, and he was laying in what felt like warm, gritty sand. He could hear the waves crashing directly to his left. A beach?

The memories started to flood his brain. Beach...Maya Virtuele...he was here. The team had arrived. Jesse gingerly sat up and cautiously came to a stand, looking around to get his bearings. He didn't really trust anyone who had anything to do with Maya Virtuele quite yet, and he couldn't be totally sure what they had done to him. It could have been anything. Drugs, poison, or the like. Hopefully that Dr. Leblanc lady had just transmitted his mind into the virtual world, like she said she was going to. But he decided that he couldn't be too careful either way.

After all, Maya Virtuele was the reason that the real world was broken.

But Jesse would do the best he could to contribute to this team as he had promised. He would help them find Dr. Westfall and convince the man to shut this place down. He was even prepared to take on a leadership role if he had to. The others probably wouldn't let him, it looked like he was one of the youngest within the group. He glanced around at the nine people he'd be going on this journey with. Some of them were awake and wandering around, some of them were still unconscious. No matter, Jesse wanted to be fully aware of his current surroundings before they got a move on.

In the meantime he brushed the sand out of his hair and off of his clothes, feeling a material unfamiliar to him. Jesse had expected his usual black tee shirt and blue jeans, but instead he looked down to find a gray jumpsuit and black boots. He tested out the attire by walking around a bit, deciding it was comfortable enough. Not bad, not bad. He wondered if they'd get any other cool gear.

Jesse wandered towards a couple of the others with a smile. Positivity had to be the answer in this situation, as it was in any volunteer work. Smiles and laughter were infectious, and so was negativity.

He heard the pretty brunette girl introduce herself as Sailor Westfall to a second pretty girl. "Jesse Kent," he jumped in. "Cool name, Sailor. You know, that was actually my uncle's name. Though ironically he sucked at maneuvering a boat."

Her eyes fluttered open softly she was laying on something, or someone warm, who still appeared to be out of it. She glanced up to see the familiar face of her step brother. Gavin appeared to be in a deep sleep which wasn’t unusual for him. She sat up slowly yawning a bit before running her fingers through her nearly perfect chestnut brown hair. She sighed softly looking around seeing a few others awake, but she could see the girl all in white in the ocean and the man standing near the rocks, but she wasn’t paying much attention to the faces, she only stole a quick glance around before starting to lightly shake Gavin. He had been the one to talk her in to helping out with this whole saving humanity thing. It wasn’t that she didn’t care, but she just didn’t want to run into a certain someone while trying to save the world.

She rolled her eyes when Gavin continued to sleep as if he had nothing better to do. “Gav, wake up.” She whisper yelled. “I don’t want to be here any longer then we have to be.” She frowned gently. She really wasn’t in any mood to socialize, in fact besides the occasional flirting with guys at the bar, she had become quite closed off and spent most of her time at work or reading. Gavin opened his eyes slowly giving his sister a cocky smile, taking his time as he woke up. He had spent a good amount of time in Maya Virtuele, but he wasn’t addicted to it like most people, he was never the type to become addicted, he could smoke a whole pack of cigarettes and never pick one up again.

He sat up glancing around seeing the rest of their team some awake some still asleep then he spotted the guy leaning against the rocks. “Oh Shit.” He whispered under his breath before glancing to Serenity. “Well this should be interesting.” He smirked. Noah had been like a brother to him, but when Serenity and Noah started dating it was different and although he still cared about his best friend, his step sister was more important and he had chosen her side when they broke up. Serenity glanced in the direction of the rocks again this time realizing who it was. She took a deep breath and her face flushed white as if she’s seen a ghost. She wanted to see him again more than anything, she had picked up the phone at least twice a day in an attempt to call, but would always chicken out. Now he was here and all she wanted to do was run, but she was stuck.

Still the word escaped, before she could stop them. “Gavin take me home now.” she whispered fighting back tears. “Wren you can’t keep running forever.” Gavin’s voice was harsher then he meant it to be as he stood up, helping her up. “Stop making this about you and him and all you damn drama, it’s in the past.” His blue eyes staring into hers “This is about saving humanity and I you happen to hook up with your ex along the way, I don’t see the harm in that.” He laughed. Serenity frowned and as much as she didn’t want to admit it Gavin was right, she couldn’t run forever, but why did it have to be here, why’d it have to be now. She knew Noah wouldn’t recognize her (she looked like a whole different person with her new hair color) at least not till she spoke, her accent was a dead giveaway. “Come on sis, let go figure out what’s going down.” He said as they headed over to meet up with the others.

It's already pulling me back.

It was distinctive, and easily recognizable. It's what pulled Chloe from her restless slumber; the warm and gritty feel of moist sand accompanied by the sharp smell of salted air. Slowly, almost nervously, she opened her eyes only to be met by a calming blue sky. "Well, that was quite a build up over nothing."

Warmth spread along her front at the sun beat down, and she found herself tilting her head up towards its heat, ignoring the thought of laying in soaked sand with waves lapping at her still form. Finally, Chloe rose from her spot, pushing against the wet sand with a sloppy smack

Pausing momentarily to allow the breeze to kiss her face, she stared off into the vast ocean in front of her, fighting to remind herself that this wasn't real...no matter how familiar it all seemed. Maya Virtuele wasn't what it seemed, and she thought it wise to remember there was a reason she had chosen to leave the game in the first place.

Voiced shook her from her thoughts, and Chloe was once again met with the face of the people she would be "fighting" alongside. Treading through the shallow water, Chloe pulled slightly at her clothing that, now wet, stuck like a second skin as she mad her way towards the awakened members of her group.

Stopping near a silent blonde, Chloe stared head high along side her for a moment. Glancing over her shoulder at the others, she wondered what brought them here. Surly the idea of being thrown into a world of the unknown with strangers wasn't just a past time? Of course, there was the saving the world thing...but why them? What made them say yes.

Deciding right now wasn't the time to question the motives of her teammates, Chloe found herself nudging the shoulders of the blonde girl beside her before shooting her an understanding smile. Maya Virtuele alone was a lot, but with strangers..well.

"Chloe," She finally said, head high. Turning her back to the endless seeming ocean, Chloe finally turned her body to everyone and gave an easy smile " Chloe Ferguson...CJ actually."

Johnny was awoken by the sound of people talking quietly, almost like they were afraid of each other. He sat up immediately, remembering the situation almost instantly. Maya Virtuele surrounded his conscious mind, he could smell the salty ocean air and feel the breeze on his face. He jumped up from his sitting position in the sand and gazed at the crashing waves.

Johnny had never been a beach-goer and probably never would be. The ocean scared him. There was no reason for his fear since he had never had any traumatizing experiences as a child with the ocean. In fact he had never spent much time on a beach, his parents had never taken him on vacation. They always went without him. So maybe his lack of experience with the great blue-and-white, salty beast was what freaked him out. Who knew what kind of creepy-crawlies lurked in there anyway? And seaweed? Gross! Why would sea creatures have a need for weed anyway?

Consequently, Johnny wanted to stay clear of the jagged rocks right on the water's edge, but that was where most everyone else was hanging. He was a social butterfly and wanted to meet his mission buddies, but felt conflicted. He had heard that if you got too far into the water, the waves would pull you in and you'd probably be in trouble.

But then Johnny recalled, this was Maya Virtuele. It wasn't entirely real, so it wasn't like it would hurt his real body if he were to get dragged in. But wouldn't it still feel real? "Ah, screw it," Johnny muttered, marching over to one of the groups. A cute girl with really nice red hair introduced herself as CJ.

"I'm Johnny," he spoke to her with a soft smile. "But you can call me John, if you want. Or Johnny-boy. Or JJ, or Johnny-whonny, or J-wizzle. Better yet, just stick with Johnny."

Sailor turned at the sound of someone walking towards her. It was a boy who looked like he might be younger than her, but not by much. He was kind of attractive, with his chiseled jaw and dark brown eyes. Though Sailor didn't really care for this; she was terrified of ever getting close to a man, after seeing what her mom went through.

"Um, that's nice." Sailor replied, wondering why he thought she would care about his uncle. "I was named 'Sailor' because my parents were drunk druggies."

Jesse frowned at Sailor's response. He had tried to start things off light and humorous, but she had turned the conversation dark. He hated to hear that someone wasn't taken care of the way they should've been as a child, whether that meant drug abuse or alcoholism or anything of that nature was involved. He had been there and done that.

"Sorry about that," Jesse replied somberly, even though Sailor didn't look as though it distressed her much. "My dad was the same way. But alcoholics are like cheaters, they never win."

"No need to be sorry," Sailor replied, a bit confused. Where she was from, people didn't...care. Either you had money, a nice home and family, or you were street trash. "It wasn't your fault. Plus, I'm about to save humanity, so they must have done something right." Or everything wrong, she added silently.

Sailor glanced back at those sleeping; one or two more had woken up, but some still slept. No one was really saying much. "So, why're you here Jesse Kent? Secretly wish you were a super hero?"

Jesse chuckled softly and shook his head. "Nah, not really. I'm mainly just here to get my world back."

Sailor's question made Jesse think for a minute about the definition of the word "superhero". He felt like the word was misused time and time again. People who saved the world were most often considered superheroes, and he couldn't disagree with that much. Then there were the comic book superheroes like Iron Man and Captain America and those types. But often forgotten were the real-world heroes like volunteer firefighters and philanthropists.

Jesse by no means considered himself a hero. A good citizen, at the most. But sometimes he wished that volunteers and philanthropists didn't have to be referred to as heroes for what they did. Jesse wished that it was just a normal part of living, an everyday thing to volunteer time and donate what you could. If that were how things worked, the world would be so much better off.

But Jesse thought he'd sound arrogant saying all that to Sailor. So he just returned her question. "And what about you? Surely you're not here just for the cool jumpsuit, am I right?"

I'm here because I need to be something more; I need to know I'm not the piece of trash people tell me I am. I need money, I need respect, I need power. I need people to see me. With all these answers clambering in her mind, Sailor said simply; "I don't know, really. I just never fell under the spell that is Maya Virtuele. Then Dr. Leblanc approached me, and I couldn't really say no, could I?"

Sailor noticed other people introducing themselves; a girl who called herself CJ, and one Johnny. They would need to get together soon, introduce themselves to everyone else, make a game plan. "Well, Jesse, what do you say we get this group together, eh?"

"Sounds like a plan," Jesse replied to Sailor casually. He was pretty eager to meet everyone else. For him it came naturally to get along with everyone he could, and everyone he couldn't...well, he'd just limit how much he'd interact with them.

Besides, he wanted to know when everyone would be ready to get started. This journey would be no walk in the park, and it certainly wouldn't be a quick thing.

Wes tapped his foot impatiently, observing as the others woke up and started to introduce themselves. Was this their group? He was hardly impressed. Now, he liked the women, mind you. But to save humanity, they didn't look the part. He could only hope they had hidden talents that their looks didn't betray. Wes clapped loudly, attempting to get everyone's attention.

"Alright, alright." Wes said loudly, not bothering to wait to see who was paying attention. "We can become friends later. I think we need a game plan; we are, after all, trying to save the world. Why don't we start off with introductions? I don't know any of your names."

He continued in his gruff voice, "I'm Wes MacKnight."

Ainsley Brooks

Introductions were never much of Ainsley's thing, and why should they be...especially now! Frowning at the scene before her, she failed to suppress her disdain. She was wet, covered in sand, and she was not happy. Placing her hands on her hips, she looked around impatiently. AS her usual conceited self, she couldn't fathom why anyone hand't called to her or at least noticed her. I guess these boys preferred rumpled types, she thought bitterly only guy even worth my time is Mr. rude.... oh....hello...

Noticing a blonde leaned up against some rocks, Ainsley fought back a grin. To say she despised being ignored was an understatement, and with a flip of her hair and an apparent need for attention, she glided over; sending a once over to the group as she past.

Whatever, she thought as she finally made her way to Mr. Tall, blonde, and sexy guess it's your gain buddy. .

Smiling brightly, she attempted to subtlety poked out her chest, as if screaming NOTICE THEM.

"Ainsley Brooks," She whispered in a way she sound seductive, once again flipping her hair. Hearing a snicker behind her, she sent a glare to a hideous red head. ", and you are?" she asked once again giving the blonde her attention.

It's already pulling me back.

Sparing a sideways glance at the surprisingly perky man who seemed to have an apparent indecisiveness about what his name was, Chloe fought back the urge to correct his rambling. "Johnny is just fine." she said with a small smile in her voice. He seemed harmless enough, maybe a little rambunctious, but nothing a person could possibly dislike.

Looking up, she met eyes with Sailor, along with the man who she had overheard introduce himself as Jesse. They seemed to be heading towards where the rest stood, and just as CJ open her moth to call out to them a gruff voice overlapped hers; " "We can become friends later. I think we need a game plan; we are, after all, trying to save the world. Why don't we start off with introductions? I don't know any of your names."

Spinning around, CJ raised her brow in annoyance. Not one to like taking the orders, she gave Wes a once over before holding her head high "You," she said staring him eye one, "can call me Chloe." Taking in his stand-offish posture and obvious bad boy demeanor, Chloe fought to roll her eyes. She probably would have said more, if not for the life-size barbie that trotted by.

Following her overly confident stride with her eyes, Chloe fought back a groan. Bad boy and a bimbo...well at least Wes had his priorities straight. Watching as the barbie leaned in close to a member of their group, who until now Chloe had failed to notice, and whisper to him, she couldn't help the snicker that escaped her lips.

Meeting eyes with barbie, who turned to glare heatedly at her, Chloe shrugged with a silent what? look in her face. it wasn't her fault barbie couldn't see he obviously wasn't interested.

Avery hadn’t budged, even though she began to hear the voices of others. As weird as it may seem, she was more frightened of having to interact with her nine other ‘teammates’ than anything else she’d have to do in Maya Virtuele. She had a feeling she would do something wrong, and then all nine of them would want nothing to do with her anymore. She would once again be alone, even though she was amongst a group. It was the story of her life. And especially since Brody left her, she had lost any confidence he had given her.

A girl named Sailor came up beside her and introduced herself, however a guy named Jesse approached her and they began having a conversation amongst themselves, and Avery was once again temporarily forgotten. She half-listened to their conversation, hearing why they both wanted to save the world and whatnot. It was all great, but she was completely focused on the mission. She had no doubt she would get to know the nine of them over their journey together.

Dr. Leblanc had specifically said there would be transportation waiting for them when they arrived. They were on a secluded beach surrounded on three sides by jagged rocks. There was only one way transportation could come, and it was the way she was staring, towards the ocean. Yet she saw nothing except water. She was confused, honestly. Her thoughts were momentarily broken up by a red head coming up beside her and lightly nudging her. ”Chloe, Chloe Ferguson
CJ actually,” she said, almost proudly.

Once again, Avery was going to respond when someone else beat her to it. Johnny, he said, or a bunch of other random nicknames. He seemed quirky as well, but in a likeable, funny way. Not in a quiet way, like her. She sighed softly, turning back towards the ocean. Everyone seemed to want to talk with everybody else
except her. She pushed the thoughts out of her head. She had to stop feeling sorry for herself. It wasn’t going to help.

A loud noise startled her, and she jumped with surprise. ”Alright, alright, we can become friends later. I think we need a game plan we are, after all, trying to save the world. Why don’t we start off with introductions? I don’t know any of your names.” He paused, and she turned to look over her shoulder. He spoke again, ”I’m Wes MacKnight.” She paused for a second, watching him. He seemed like the bad boy type, and he was strong, and extremely handsome. There was something about him that just drew her to him. He was totally different than her, seemingly the complete opposite. Yet she turned away, knowing there was no way he would ever be interested in her. And there was still Brody.

Everyone’s attention was focused on each other, so they didn’t see what Avery saw. On the horizon, a small dot appeared. She leaned forward and squinted, making sure she wasn’t daydreaming. But it was getting larger. Her breath caught in her throat. “There!” she exclaimed loudly, pointing her finger towards the growing object. It was obviously some kind of ship, and it was most certainly heading straight for them. In all her excitement, she didn’t even realize she had spoken. Once she did, her cheeks reddened with embarrassment. That most certainly wasn’t like her.

The ship got larger, and it looked to be some kind of high-end yacht, which surprised her. And it looked big. That thing had to cost more than both of her parent’s salaries combined. It stopped a ways off from shore, the white hull gleaming in the sun. She watched with great interest, noticing there seemed to be movement from the ship, and then something small entered the water and began speeding toward them. It was coming relatively fast, and she backed up out of the water and moved to the side to give it room. Shortly, it reached the shore and stopped. It was a simple, small wooden life boat, probably just big enough for the ten of them. She walked towards it slowly, examining it from one end to the other. “Well, that’s just odd
” she commented, noticing there was no motor, and nobody piloting it. She turned towards the others, and gave them a simple shrug of the shoulders. This was truly a mystery.

The group was finally coming together for introductions. So far Jesse knew the names of Sailor, CJ, Johnny, and the guy who had seemingly decided to take charge, Wes. It didn't really bother him, as it perhaps did CJ, she seemed annoyed by his authoritative tone. She was probably the independent type who didn't like being told what to do. But if they didn't have some control within the group, they probably wouldn't get much coordinated.

However, Jesse had yet to learn the names of the others as the quiet blonde girl called out “There!” and pointed out towards the ocean. Jesse's gaze followed where she pointed and he saw the large white yacht. Was this what they'd be transported in? He had never been on such an expensive boat. His family never had and never would have the money for that. But his hopes sunk when the yacht stopped quite a ways from the beach, and sent out an empty, little wooden boat instead. How strange.

Jesse watched the blonde examine it when it reached the shore. “Well, that’s just odd
” she said quietly, speaking what he had been thinking himself. Everyone could probably fit in the boat, but they'd have to row it. And they'd have to be extremely careful not to let it topple over. In these waves? Come on.

Noah just watched as the others began to wake. One by one, they began to introduce themselves, and he just stayed to the side. He noticed one other guy seemed to do the same thing and just watch instead of communicate with the others. He saw Gavin wake up, as well as a brunette next to him, and the two began to talk. It seemed the two knew each other. Of course, Gavin could have met many new girls over the past few years, but it seemed strange that both of them had ended up here, saving humanity together.

He took his eyes off Gavin and the brunette and decided to study the rest of the group. He was within earshot, so he heard all their names. Their was Sailor, a thin brunette who seemed to be tougher than she looked. Jesse, a guy that seemed genuinely too nice. CJ, a girl with sass and spunk. Johnny, an interesting guy that he had no idea what to make of. There was still the girl who hadn't spoken in white, absentmindedly staring at the ocean. He wondered if something was wrong with her. And then there was Wes, who seemed to be attempting to be a tough guy, and the apparent self proclaimed leader. Noah didn't move, even though Wes was trying to herd everyone together.

Noah's eyes darted back to Gavin and the brunette again. Something just seemed off to him, but he couldn't place it. Suddenly, his vision was blocked off by a blonde, the last of the group to wake up. He looked her up and down, noticing she was attempting to look as pleasing as possible. He was a guy, so he took full advantage of it. "Ainsley Brooks, and you are?" she asked, and he gave her a little grin. He quickly wondered why she was trying so hard to get attention. She wasn't bad looking at all. Actually, she was one of the most attractive girls he had ever laid eyes on. Except Serenity. He was about to respond to Ainsley when it all clicked in his mind.

Instantly, he pushed past Ainsley and walked straight over to Gavin, and the brunette. Who was Serenity. He stopped in front of them, and focused on her. She had brown hair, but it was most definitely her. He took a step back, not knowing what to think. She had avoided him for so long, it seemed like a dream. For a moment he wondered if thinking about her so much had magically made her appear in Maya Virtuele. Yet that wasn't possible. This may be a virtual world, but it wasn't magical. "Serenity?!" he asked in disbelief. She looked good, almost better than she had when they were together. The brown hair suited her, although he still preferred the platinum blonde.

His disbelief turned into anger quickly. He had tried so hard to find her, had even gone to Gavin's place. He had lied to Noah. She had been with her step brother all along. He wanted to scream at her, to ask why she had put so much effort into avoiding him. He loved her so much, and had wanted to spend his life with her. He was going to propose. He balled his fists, squeezing so hard that his nails dug into his skin. This was unbelievable. Words escaped him.

Noah stormed away from them, not knowing what else to do. He wanted out now, but knew it was impossible. He barely heard the exclamations of the until then silent girl, as well as the yacht appearing on the horizon. Serenity was here. It was as if the entire world was crashing down on him. He was lost. Then he looked up, and saw Ainsley still standing where he had left her. An idea came to him. If she had any feelings left for him at all, he would make her hurt as well. Ainsley was the perfect vessel to use to make Serenity extremely jealous.

He approached her, putting his suave mask back on. "Sorry about that," he said, grinning at her. "Ainsley you said?" he asked, reaching forward and running his fingers through her hair. "I'm Noah."

Serenity kept to herself letting her brother do all the talking, she wasn’t exactly as confident here as she was in the real world, or at least as much as she pretended to be. Then his voice hit her like a ton of bricks crushing her as he said her name, something she had missed. She’d give anything to go back in time to when they were happy. Her soft brown eyes met his and the look that plagued his face completely broke her heart, she couldn’t breathe, it was like she had forgotten how. She hadn’t noticed the tears that started to fall from her eyes. And, just as soon as he had appeared in front of them he was gone and she wanted more than anything to grab him and pull him back to her, but she was frozen. Then she watched him walk to another blonde and run his fingers through her hair. “Gavin
” she breathed tugging on her brother’s shirt. “Gavin, I want to go home.” She said louder than necessary and she felt more than ever like a broken hearted little girl.

Gavin turned to her grabbing her arm a bit harsher then he meant to pulling her out of earshot of the rest of the group. “Wren, listen I get it okay, this is hard for you. I know that more than anything else.” He sighed letting go over her looking over to his close friend, or not so close now rolling his eyes “Were not here to get caught up in drama, were here to save the world
” he paused “Sounds kind of cool when you say it out loud.” He said losing his train of thought a bit, causing Serenity to playfully punch him in the stomach “Okay, okay sorry
if Noah is still Noah, which I’m sure he is he’s just blowing off steam, just give it time it has been a year and you did kind of ignore him sis.” She sighed looking out at the ocean wiping her tears, she hated it when her younger, irresponsible, womanizing brother was right. Then as if a switch had been turned a wicked smile danced across her lips. “You wanna play baby, let’s play.” She whispered load enough for Gavin to hear, as she started off back towards the group. “Wren
Wren
Serenity that’s not what I
oh fuck it.” He said knowing both Noah and Serenity could be pretty stubborn when they were angry. “Here goes saving the world.” He sighed following Serenity back to the group.
