XOXO Character: The Heart Breaker
Personality:"These things are always ridiculous." Eli's a lot of things, but open isn't one of them. He's often cold, distant, and more detached than anything else. You've heard the phrase 'doesn't play well with others', well that's what you could say about Eli. He prefers the quiet to the noise and being alone to a group of people. You can't really blame him though. It's how he was raised. Never too trusting, never too forgiving. Sure, piss him off and it'll take some time, but he'll eventually forgive you, but he won't forget and it won't change much. In his eyes, you've already crossed the line once and you'll do it again. Complimenting his cold and distant attributes, Eli isn't a very confrontational guy. He'll defend himself and his beliefs all day, but he won't be the one to start the argument. An air of seriousness is a constant around the young actor. He takes everything far too seriously. Smiles and laughs are common, but the degree of genuine happiness is never actually displayed. Don't get me wrong, he's a happy guy. He just has different ways of showing it. When it comes to flirting and romantic affairs, it takes a lot to even peak Eli's interest. He loves women, but he's never loved a women. He's not a flirtatious guy. As said before, he's too serious - too serious to even engage in the act of flirting with a beautiful woman. Even so, Eli manages. Women are drawn to him for whatever reason. Maybe it's that he can actually hold an intellectual, deep conversation.
Character Personality: "Are you prepared to have your heart broken, darling?" Ryder St. James could be considered almost a polar opposite of the actor who portrays him. Ryder is a major flirt, batting his eyes and causing girls to fall all over him. He'll lead them on, spoil them with romantic gestures, and be that guy that every girl wants right before he moves onto the next leaving their little hearts in pieces on the floor. Ryder is fun and never takes anything too seriously. He's most in his element in the company of girls and friends, casually drinking, and never taking anything, especially the girls, too seriously. He feels little remorse for those he hurts and always tries to keep a level of friendship with those he's left, so that he can call on them if he ever felt the need to do so. Yeah, he's a real douchebag.
History: "Not very interesting, hm? Sorry to disappoint." Elias Rhys Montgomery doesn't have the typical struggling actor story to fall back on as most actors do. He didn't grow up in poverty or a rough neighborhood. He didn't run with a bad crowd, necessarily. His parents, George and Linda Montgomery, were high school sweethearts both from Upper East Side, Manhattan. George came from old money and lived a rather privileged life. Linda was from a middle-class family. The two met, fell in love, married, and soon after welcome a bubbly baby boy - Elias.
Before little Elias was even a year old, George and Linda decided they wanted to get out of Manhattan. Florida seemed a grand destination and it wasn't long before the two had moved, bought a house, and settled. They were barely nineteen, but the world held countless wonders already. George's father had a company branch in Florida and so, he started work there all the while still falling on his trust fund. Elias doesn't even bother mentioning that he's actually from New York. If you ask, he'll tell you his hometown is in Florida. He doesn't remember Manhattan, so why even mention it?
When it was time for Eli to start school, he didn't. Well, not in the typical sense. Linda opted to home-school him. Eli, not knowing any better, had no objections and quickly settled into a routine with his loving mother. He'd wake up every morning, eat breakfast and take care of personal hygiene regiments, and then start on his school work for the day. Young Eli was done with schooling at the age of fifteen. He'd always expressed an interest in film and acting, and his mother had always supported him. They looked into college for the teen, but found that many wouldn't accept someone so young. Instead, they settled for a local community college that offered a Performing Arts degree. He majored in Theater.
The experience of a community college allowed Eli to realize just what he'd missed growing up. Sure, he had friends, but they were few and far between. Mostly cousins and neighbors. It was now that Eli realized he didn't know how to make friends or even properly socialize. The college experience opened his eyes to lots of new things. And slowly, Eli met and made friends all while excelling in his classes. His upbringing had instilled a distant personality without a trusting nature though, making things a little harder.
Eli had his AA degree at just seventeen years old, which now allowed him to transfer to a university. He selected a performing arts college in Florida, close to home, but moved out of his parents' house. This college experience couldn't even compare to his community college one. He went to parties, made friends, and even dated a little though nothing serious ever resulted from it. In only two short years, he was walking across the stage with his Bachelor's degree in hand, ready to set out looking for a job.
He didn't struggle, but he didn't thrive either. Eli often was cast for guest roles on shows like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, CSI, Bones, etc. Temporary, one episode roles that while showcased his talents, never generated much publicity. He got by on those roles though and never really challenged the system. Then, at twenty-four, he met Robert Mann was was cast for XOXO's Ryder St. James - Heart Breaker.
Character History: "Prim, proper, privileged." Ryder St. James is the product of two wildly successful lawyers, born and raised right there in Malibu. High school sweethearts at that. He has two younger sister who he's severely protective over. His back-story really doesn't do much to generate an interest in his character. His caring side is portrayed through is love for his sisters and then you have his charming, flirtatious, commitment-issued personality that makes the audience both love and hate him. He often struggles with his romantic relationships because he doesn't think he can find a girl that will make his as happy as he sees his parents after all these years. His house is often used a party spot/hangout due to the excessive hours his parents keep at their law firm.
