Not easily rattled? Hmm maybe he had grown up a little. Issac picked up on the sore spot being his brother and chose to use that a little more. " Sounds like you don't know how to convince someone if it doesn't suit your needs. Not that I don't doubt he can handle him self , but you know how Murphy is." He yawned a bit, driving straight on for a good while.

" Paranoid much? It couldn't be I'm watching for a tale or anything could it? I mean a bio-hazard unit arrives just moments after we do , on a case that might as well be highly classified. I trust you both enough to do what is best for you two, and currently that is to hang around us. " He went on, checking his mirrors again both for police or the make-believe tail. , before flipping on his right blinker, than turning left. One thing Issac had learned it was easy to follow a good driver, not an idiot.

" As for the black bag, we can do that if you really want, tho you can't sit in the front seat anymore." He teased.

Alexander Wiseman

Alexander seemed to follow a string of people into the safe house, Though he was not as loud as Kora entering nor as silent as the two new ones. Taking his black leather gloves off he tucked them inside his inner coat pocket. Catching the tail end of a conversation he arched a brow as he addressed the new blood " Biggest in town?....Don't let Her hear that.. it will only go to her head" he said. He has dealt with the one called Granny before, it wasn't a meeting he was prepared to recall so readily though.

Seemingly intent on not stopping he placed his cane against one of the chairs before slipping out of coat and throwing it over the chair. It would become clear Alexander had a taste for the color black the shirt that was hidden before under the closed coat was also black, the only difference being the waist coat he wore was a shade of grey. All of it seemed of very high quality though. " My day has been thankfully uneventful so far... Now excuse me" he said seeming to head off in the direction of the medical area. Stopping briefly he turned to glance at the little group " Oh and keep that food away from my coat" he said before carrying on walking.

Soon he found himself in the make-shift medical area where he found Montana and a female form upon a bed to which he had no knowledge who she was.He spoke softly towards Montana as to not worry the woman " Forgive me for intruding....When you have a moment i wouldn't mind hearing the short version of what you know has transpired today" he said as regarded the female once again, it did not take him long to figure she was a vampire. " Am i going to have to put a request back to HQ for an extra allocation of packs" he said subtly asking Montana whether or not this a simple recovery job or whether she was useful or not.

The creature was obviously still twitchy, and shrunk away from Madison's hand, but in attempting to do so, she collapsed to her knees, prompting a gasp from the creature and the contents of her torso to begin to push through the gaps in the makeshift wrappings. Whilst her apparently fear had driven her obedience up to that point, the cryptid was coming to the end of even what her own strange biological processes could continue to operate under, which so many of her muscles currently sliced open or shredded by gunfire. She tried to raise herself up a couple of times, before eventually admitting defeat. She could not move any further.

----

Oren shut off her phone screen and hissed in annoyance, disregarding Issac's attempts at goading the hunters (even to the point that she neglected an opportunity to bring up his own shortcomings) due to what she had just heard.

"That canadian shithead just got himself turned. And Rafael for some reason thinks that he can order me to go and deal with the mess whilst he fucks off to the safehouse to go and comb his pervert moustache or something. If we stopped here, what exactly could we do? We have no bloodbags, we have minimal people, I'm bleeding all over my damn clothes, and I'm a fucking researcher. SCION promised they'd not send me into the field in the first place, let alone spending decades becoming an authority on cryptobiology just so some jumped up magician could talk to me like I'm his assistant!"

She was gripping the phone so tightly cracks began to spider across the plastic casing. It had not been a very good day.

The “Lady” bit of her name had been intended as an echo of what Stride called her, but Lulu chuckled dryly at the man’s adaptation of the title. “I doubt she’s ‘’live f’she’s around them any….” Her speech was interrupted, again, by a yawn. “… anymore. Couldn’t smell her on the wolves’ who got me. But… may’ve been the smell’f wet dog.”

After the words had already left her mouth, she cast a guilty look toward the girl-wolf who had helped in rescuing her.

She’d have to be more careful of her tongue.

“Not um… Sorry, ‘bout that. You smell… You smell fine,” she fumbled, though she only half meant it.

As far as her overly sharpened senses were concerned, a recently shifted wolf stunk like an animal. The girl didn’t smell at the moment, but there was no doubt that the stink of her kind would be stuck in her hair the morning after the full moon.

The former direction of where Lulu had been heading with her speech was lost. She tried to backtrack her thoughts, but the loose ends unraveled and were whisked away by the sounds of more people entering the building.

“Stride?” Lulu asked curiously as Stride turned, but the masked woman had already headed out of the room. She was promptly replaced by another visitor, this one just as cold, but distinctly vampiric in odor. The investigator stared at him for a long moment, her eyes sharp in their scrutiny despite the lack of focus.

Very wealthy, by his dress. And not young, by the way he carried himself.

The failure of everyone else around to offer a name had not slipped her notice; another reminder that she wasn’t on the side of the desk to ask questions. Or, apparently, be given consideration in conversation.

“Wolf attack,” she interjected as the vampire posed his question to the man, a not-so-subtle reminder that she may have been down, but she could still speak for herself, “Two’ve your people found me. Lulu Botrelle, by th’way,” she continued, and offered a tired hand to shake, “Private Investigator.”

"Yes. Continue to talk about me like I'm not here," Toby said under his breath with a weak, wry smile. Not that he wasn't used to it. Spire had a way of commanding conversations. Oren's talk of a newly turned vampire kept him on edge--partially because the number of names bring thrown around continued to indicate a larger and larger organization, but mostly because he knew a new vampire's instinct to feed was difficult to curb.

"Or maybe my own brother would know me too well to fall for my particular style of persuasive reasoning," Spire said to Issac, making a sound somewhere between a scoff and a laugh. He had plenty of personality flaws, oh, plenty, but a temper had never been among them. Quite the opposite of exploding with hot anger, Spire tended to get frosty when someone picked at the wrong sore. Or he would just slice their throats, if the situation allowed. But that wasn't really an option right now.

The implication that he would intentionally keep Toby in danger because it suited his purposes, or furthermore that he might try to manipulate him, were the wrong sores. Issac was quickly sliding down the scale from neutral to dislike.

Conversely, Spire's growing dislike didn't show on his face for long. "Or maybe we're both adrenalin junkies and we just share a mutual disregard for Murphy's law. We'll pass on the black bag, if that's alright," he said cheerfully, not buying that they had a tail for half a second. He paid a backward glance at Oren. "Sounds like you have bigger problems to deal with than making this a proper kidnapping."

Issac's face darkened for a moment. The news about Arc bothered him greatly, but a cynical chuckled rumbled out of him when Oren talked about being talked down to by someone else who had no business talking down to them. He had said that this mission was hastily thrown together at best since the start and the flaws of the team design were showing greatly. He'd talk to Oren about it later tho. Paranoid or not Issac thought that there was a higher hand in this than just their bosses, and he didn't like what cards they had been handing the staff. Toby's statement brought him out of his thoughts.

" Sorry toby, just poking at your brother a bit, after all it's been a while since i've seen the both of you. " Issac admitted , smiling a bit. Having caught the twitch of irritation from Spire Issac went on , " Forgive an old man of his bad habits. "

Seeing that this line of conversation wasn't going to be fruitful Issac dropped it at the scoff and went along with the junkie bit.
" Ah fair enough, I do see the appeal I won't lie, got me into this line of work in the first place. " Issac seemed to weight Spires suggestion about the bigger issues.

"Nothing we can do for him here. Besides we have more pressing issues to address when we reach home than what to do with him." Issac said, finally starting to head in the direction of the safe house.

At Christina’s suggestion, Madison paused, taking his own look around before giving a short nod. Before he could reply to his coworker, however, the sound of a gasp caught his attention. Glancing back over at the cryptid, he quickly found that her condition has worsened; it appeared that she couldn’t even move at this point, and her organs seemed close to falling out entirely.

“Well,” he began, “it looks like that’s not much of an option now.” Turning back to face the cryptid, Madison offered yet another soft smile, taking a few steps before lowering himself to the ground. “If your blood happens to be acidic, now would be a good time to tell me,” he warned, albeit with an amount of lightness that did not befit the situation.

Carefully, carefully, Madison reached out and tucked both hands under the creature- one hand beneath her back, the other tucked neatly under her legs- stooping a little more to get a better grip on her. Attempting not to jostle the poor cryptid even further, the researcher brought her into his arms before standing and walking back to the car.

As he placed the cryptid upon the sheet and walked back to the driver’s seat, Madison continued to speak, directing his words back to Christina as he moved about. “I’d tell you to go ahead and talk about it on the way back,” a pause as he turned the closed the door, turning the ignition in the next movement, “but I’m not sure whether you’d want to bring it up, given our company.”

After all, while the creature had been around the entire time, there could easily be information that was better left silent for now. Walls having ears and all that. Musing on the concept, Madison pushed down on the pedal and began to drive, taking the road back to the safehouse.

A reply had been lifting from the tip of his tongue when Lulu had interjected. Instead of interrupting, he waited until she was finished to respond to Alexander's query. Ms.Botrelle had certainly taken the steps to assert herself. Which was important, and impressive, considering she was doing so from the venerable position she was in. "Yes, in regards to our new house mate, we will need another shipment of blood packs." Montana appreciated his fellow operatives subtly with a short nod. "And more, possibly for Mr.Longbow."

The smile that pulled at Montana's cheeks wasn't indicative of mirth. It was a grim thing, that spoke of a sordid affair he couldn't share in current company. When his head moved back, the smile evaporated, leaving a more natural look of contentment in its place. "I plan on sharing my findings during our conclave, but if you'd like to be prepped before, I can facilitate you in a short while." Montana understood wanting to be informed. This pseudo clairvoyance on meeting matter could lend a more measured response then if the information is new. Or it just sated curiosity.

"If you couldn't smell her on them she could very well be gone." "If you are able, I'd like to prematurely extend the invitation to join our interrogation, if only to identify the wolves who took part in the attack, this is a lot to task, given how recent their attack was, but I fear if we don't act soon our window of opportunity may be shut by Madam Fate."

He rested his elbow on the railing of her bed, and his chin on his thumb, leaving the index finger to trail up toward his cheekbone. "Of course my fellows might not be to keen on the idea, as you are relatively unknown, and I'd have to take my own precautions of course, but I view it as my favourite option right now."

If the Moors Pack had a hand in this young woman's death or disappearance, he'd see someone answered to it. That went for any organization that was aiding whomever was working in the shadows. It was 2015, there were plenty of ways to flay a foe in this modern age.

Alexander Wiseman

Alexander found the voice that answered him initially strange, unfamiliar meaning it could only be the vampiress of the bed. She at least answered the questions surrounding her. Taking the hand that was offered towards him he turned it so he could bow his head and lightly kiss her knuckles. It was probably not what she was expecting but it was quite a courteous display from Alexander. " Ms Botrelle... A pleasure under any other circumstance... I am Mr. Wiseman"

Unlike the other operatives Alexander could offer his name out more often. The effectiveness of his job relied on his status and being trusted so he only ever used an alias for non supernaturals. Watching Montana carefully he let out a sigh " I will wait for confirmation about Mr. Longbow before putting the requisition order through. " he said as did not enjoy the signals he was reading from Montana's demeanor and expression. " The Commander is not going to be happy when he gets the first reports in.... i am glad i am not the lead on this one"

Adjusting his sleeves he walked to stand beside Montana to make it easier for lulu to see him " If you have any questions or requests Ms. Bortelle please do speak up..... it may not be viable for us to comply with some of them but while your with us you should at least be comfortable" he said finding there to be many things he wished to ask himself, but the present company restricted his curiosity and helped focus his mind.

Lulu’s bright green gaze bounced between the two men like a tennis ball as she followed the course of speech. Whoever “Longbow” was, considering whatever had transpired to warrant a shipment of blood, she almost pitied him.

Before she could fully process the weight of the conversation, her attention was jarred by Alexander’s introduction and old-fashioned gesture. Her pupils dilated and she drew a silent gasp in surprise. Whatever she had been expecting him to do, it certainly wasn’t that. “And they’ll say chivalry’s dead. The pleasure’s mine, Mr. Wiseman,” she quipped back with an easy smile, before turning back to her initial questioner.

Who still had yet to offer so much as an alias.

You’re extending me an invitation?” she asked, an incredulous laugh coloring the tail end of her question. “Listen, Mac,” she said in an amused, if not slightly irked voice, the shadows of her accent coming to the forefront of her already sloppily slurred tone, “I’m mighty grateful to you’nd yours for helping me out, but last I checked, this’s my case. F’anyone’s gonna be giving those boys the once over, it’s gonna be me. F’you think Ioughtta take a back seat to some bulls working for god knows who, talkin’ over m’head like I’m too fried to notice…”

The way she wanted to finish the sentence was, ‘You can promptly take back your help and shove it up your ass,’ but she bit her tongue and shook her head in distaste.

Despite the confidence of her impaired speech, the vampire was well aware that she was, indeed, too “fried” to catch a vast majority of the conversation and did not trust herself with speaking the full extent of what was on her mind.

Either the people helping her had a loose definition for the term “mild sedative,” or her small size and blood loss were causing her to feel the drug’s impact more heavily.

She took a deep breath, hoping to ground her thinking. When she spoke next, her flippant tone was replaced by something more focused as she channeled all of her energy into a farce of lucidity. “That being said,” she said, accent reverting to a neutral American, “I’m not opposed to a collaboration, considering your help. But I’m not playing second fiddle to anyone. I finish what I start.”

Montana was completely unruffled by Lulu's response. It was warranted, despite her perspective on the meaning behind his words. Truthfully, the pendulum could swing either way and he'd find a way to benefit. He offered a pleasant quarter smile, indicative that he understood where she was coming from. "Of course Lady Lulu." He held a comfortable tone, one that let his words float out evenly.

"You're free to continue your investigation alone as you have started. You've been forthright with what you did know, and helpful in shedding light on situations we've dealt with recently. The nature of my organization keeps me from explaining its details without permission, but I can assure you, we will be hands off, and out of your hair when you choose to carry out your own interrogation of the York Moors Pack, the ones who attacked you in particular I expect."

He collected himself from the rail and leaned back in his seat. "I'll be removing the stitches from your lighter wounds soon, and then from the heavier ones as they show signs of being healed. If you're uncomfortable with any amount of people in here when I do so, I'll have them leave until I am finished."

As soon as the car rolled to a halt, Christina swung out of the door, releasing her grip on the handle as soon as she had her balance. She unlocked the door to the safehouse and walked into the hall.

“We need the medical bay!” she warned loudly, wondering which of his coworkers had made it back in the failure circus their mission had become. Hell, the superiors were probably waiting to pounce on them for messing up…

Pushing the thought away, she went back to hold the door open so Madison could carry the injured cryptid into their hideaway without injuring it any further. That wouldn’t probably get them into even more trouble and the thought of more trouble than what she’d get just for being present made her want to squirm.

“Come on!” she called to Madison, then turned her head back towards the house. “And can someone come clean the car?” or hold doors, she guessed, either would work fine.

Oren arrived at the safehouse in the way one might expect from Oren.

With hostility.

As soon as they were at the door she was off inside, a fistful of tissue paper pressed against the gashes in her face as she strode through to the house, past Christina and through to the medical room where she went straight to Montana.

"Where the fuck did you go?!" she exclaimed.
"The mission went to shit! We've got a half dead cryptid and no space for it! I was there as one of the research department and I ended up being the one who got everyone out of there. You pissed off without a trace, Rafael is fucking useless, and Issac threw hissy fit because I told him not to KILL the cryptid! An unarmed, severely injured fucking cryptid! What kind of SAVAGES do you have in your department?!

Then Rafael has the nerve to try and order me to deal with Longbow, another of the field operatives' departments neanderthals, who has somehow gotten himself turned. Because obviously the best use for someone who has spent the last THIRTY YEARS studying cryptobiology is to fetch and carry for some idiot mortal who can't even master as basic a concept as 'don't wander off alone with a vampire, a creature whose main hunting method is biting people who wander off alone with it!'

The next time Wyndham gets me on a field mission it'll be because I'd died and you need to use my decaying corpse as bait for a werewolf. That was a fucking disaster."

The researcher paused to glance over at Lulu for a moment.

"And I'm not even going to ask what this is about, but we need the room."

Alexander Wiseman

Alexander watched Lulu with mild interest, she had seem taken back by his courteous gesture, but to be fair most people where, Even he knew the old gestures were rarely used any more. He still preferred them though. Another interesting bit had been her seeming to assert herself in the lead on the case she had been working. Truly Alexander knew it was ultimately a simple gesture, , but it showed a determination in the woman that was not found in many.

Hearing a shout come through the hideout he turned his attention to Montana " Sounds like we have incoming" he said not realizing how true his words were until he saw Oren enter the room and begin to berate Montana. Listening through it all Alexander tried to gleam as much information as possible. He was getting a good general idea on what went wrong at least. Stepping towards Oren he focused his gaze on her face. " Was the creature injured before or after it decided to try and take your face?... Because i assume it was the creature that done that"

He flickered a gaze back towards Montana, Wondering how he would handle the situation, though he wouldn't let him speak yet as Alexander quickly went back to addressing Oren " Might i suggest you hold your complaints Oren.." he said using only her first name for once, not even giving her the benefit of her title of Doctor. ".. Since you still have a job to do...Putting those thirty years of experience to work in figuring out a way to treat this creature considering only you know even its basic physiology at the moment... and then afterwards you can bring forward any issues when we collectively come to share our initial reports." Alexander was clearly not to impressed with her rant, his tone and lack of formality with her conveying almost a challenge to the good Doctors authority.

“Actually, I think we should save that job as a punishment,” Madison commented cheerfully, turning to pick the crypid up once again before approaching the safehouse. “Would definitely teach them a lesson, don’t you think?”

As expected of the vampire, he maintained his breezy demeanour in spite of sporting large, bright green patches of ooze upon the front of his dress, and having spent the past several minutes attempting to drive as carefully over speed-bumps as possible. He opened the door handle with his fingertips in favor of waiting for someone to open it for him, slipping inside once the gap was widened to his satisfaction.

Instead of marching right on through like Oren, however, Madison smiled at his coworkers as he passed by. “Kora, Phoebe, boys,” he greeted calmly, as if he were merely carrying around bags of groceries instead of a dying cryptid.

Upon reaching the medical bay, he was surprised to find that it was already quite filled. Not only were several of his fellow SCION agents already there, but so was an unfamiliar woman, laid out on one of the cots. Their attention did not seem to be on the stranger, however, but on each other.

It looked like his fellow vampires were quite irate at the moment.

“Oh, let her rant, Alex. From the sound of it, a lot of them have been having a rough day.” Speaking with nothing short of familiarity, Madison continued into the bay, pausing to place the cryptid gingerly upon a cot before turning back to the gathered.

“Besides, while I’m not an expert on these sort of things, I don’t think arguing while someone has their insides falling out is good bedside manner.”

Sometime during the initial interrogation of Lulu Crystal had slipped away. The blood on her hands and clothing making her feel nauseated and bring up painful memories. The heat and noise of the shower as she scrubbed herself clean of the blood was therapeutic, and took her mind off the mission at hand. Or it did until the sound of screaming carried through the building and into the house.

With a sigh Crystal stepped out of the shower and changed into a new set of clothing before heading off to see what the comotion was about. Once she saw all the blood, another half dead person in the room she promptly got out of the way and went to the living room.

Beneath the smell of blood she could smell the sweet scent of pizza. Darting over to the box, Crystal grabbed a slice of meat pizza before darting away. She had no desire to be be near the person holding the box. Instead Crystal moved towards the other rookies in the room who must have arrived during her shower excursion.

"So uhh how did your questioning go? We found a vampire attacked by a werewolf pack and she mentioned something about green blood. So were pretty sure she knows something about the thing in the morgue." Said thing seemed to currently be in the house as the smell of it's putrid blood was unmistakable.

Even as she spoke more people enter the living room and a familiar scent hit her nose. Her eyes feel on Spire starring at the man for a moment before turning back to the two 'children'. As she spoke to them she slowly moved to a position where they were in-between her and the newest wolf entering the building.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fel's eyes popped open as shouting and urge to heal pain started accompanied by her own pain. Shaking as she got up, Fel limped over to her back up wheel chair in the room. Exerting a ton of effort she managed to wheel the thing to the medical bay where a new wave pain washed over her.

Reaching out Fel touched Orren with a shaking hand trying to get the doctor's attention and healing her at the same time. "Arc got turned? Is he here? What happened? I think some vampire used some type of mind control because he started killed people."

Her hands shook more than they should and she started feeling nausea on top of the pain. This sickness was more than something caused by the wounds she had received something was wrong, very wrong. Focusing through the haze she eyed the person Madison was holding, instead of the urge to heal the person she was hit with a repulsion.

Her instincts took over and without realizing it Fel rolled her wheel chair away from Madison and the creature. Her own voice was loud and uncharacteristically cold "Let it die."

Fel blinked as if her own words surprised her, she felt guilty. Fel loved everyone vampires, werewolves, mages, and humans. Yet this one creature made her feel sick and want to run away. It was a confusing set of emotions to deal with.

" Spire, Toby, I'll not ask for your weapons , but I will ask that we keep everything civilized, Please?" He asked before getting out of the Van, which had been parked around the back of the Safe house building in a somewhat hidden spot. Issac went a head and pulled out his multi tool01 heading to the back of the van. He removed the license plate and placed it in the back of the van.
He didn't want some police officer to pass by and notice the stolen car, so he took the plate from his rental car and placed it on the van. His rental car could be explained off simply, the van, not so much. Satisfied with his work he went to the safe-house.

Issac marched in behind Oren, wearing his regular passive yet stern expression, ignoring Oren's complains against him. She didn't provide any leadership and blew his suggestion out of proportion, but she was a doctor and probably hadn't been in a situation were cutting off a dead limb would serve better than hanging onto the hope of keeping it. He didn't hold it against her. Issac gave a wave to Alexander and the others. " We've got guest of our own." Issac said with a nod behind him, then gave Alex a warning expression, just for a split second. Not that it was needed Alex tended to error on the side of caution more than not from what little Issac knew of him. He'd not have to worry about Spire or Toby here. Out numbered and out gunned.

Issac paused for a moment seeing Lulu, an eye brow arced in surprise, then offered a smile and a nod as a greeting before heading into the 'Living' room. The smell of food hit him like a piano dropped from a 5 story building. He darted over and swiped a slice before heading off to find a spot to sit down. He'd have to talk to folks in a bit but currently he just wanted to stay out of the medical groups way, after all he only had extensive training in field medical and with Oren and Lovette here there was no need for his skills.

Issac debated on what to do about Arc. He was relatively alone right now facing who knew what. Like or dislike he was part of the group, and more importantly... He knew a good bit about SCION that didn't need to get out, to anyone. He didn't seem to notice the rookies in the room. His mind was busy.

Issac sighed, taking the three brass casings from his pocket and rattled them like dice in his hands. Was he really going to have to be that asshole who kept loose ends tied...? Issac's guarded expression didn't hold up like it normally did...

Before Lulu could respond, a sudden rush of tense voices and new scents assaulted her all at once. People were charging in. Someone was shouting, and being rebuffed, and had a snide remark about her. “Charmed,” she muttered, but she was certain the comment was whisked away by the noise. There were too many people in the little room, with more in the house elsewhere, and now there were… one, two… three? The vampires aside from herself, and one was cross-dressed, and in his arms was—

Lulu bolted upright in the cot and braced herself against the dizzying consequences of the motion by gripping the side of the mattress.

That was not right.

She should not have been there. That girl— the green-blooded, reeking, days-long-dead girl— should not have been there.

For the first time in decades, Lulu was firmly regretting the mess she had stepped into over a contract.

With a wince and a jerking motion, she yanked first the IV tube, and then the needle out of her arm. The skin tore from the abruptness, but knitted itself back together quickly enough that no severe amount of blood was lost.

She stared at the scene taking place beside the other cot, and her glazed expression evaporated into something between concern and befuddlement. She had too many questions, and there was too much arguing going on to answer any of them.

The organization was starting to feel more like a carnival by the second.

“What the Hell?” she asked, eyes darting between the various people in the room. “What the Hell?” Her stare settled on Montana for a moment, shining with something she wasn’t sure whether or not to disclose.

The situation had grown beyond what she had prepared for.

She made up her mind, hoping the choice was the right one. “That’s her,” she said firmly, nodding toward the bleeding half-corpse. “She was dead. Days ago. I examined her body.”

The thing was putrid to look at and share a room with, with a stench that made the vampire’s stomach turn. “She shouldn’t be here. She was dead and...” With that, Lulu shoved herself forward to the edge of the bed and placed her feet on the floor.

She took two steps toward the creature, but only two: The momentum of her initial motion failed just feet from the bed and her legs gave out like rubber under the effect of the painkillers, and she tumbled toward the ground.

"Scout's honor," said Spire to Issac pleasantly. He had definitely never been a boyscout. Toby had, though. It probably counted.

Spire and Toby exited the car and shared a glance. Spire could catch the scent of vampires and wolves mingling from the doorway.

"A lot," Toby said to Spire's unasked question. A lot of cryptids in there. It made Toby uneasy and Spire suspicious. But they weren't taking their weapons. And this was not only an opportunity to check out these curiosities, this was their lead on the murders. Toby cared enough about the deaths to stifle his unease. And Spire was intrigued enough by this organization to stifle his suspicion. So into the safe house they went, Spire taking the lead, until they found an open place in the room to stand and observe.

The scent of numerous bleeding cryptids and painkillers and...pizza.

"This is quite a gathering," Spire remarked, just as Lulu toppled--quite near him. He probably could have caught her. He didn't even blink. "I can't say I've crashed a more interesting party than this one."

He returned the eye contact of the girl who seemed so curious about him. She was a wolf, he identified without Toby's help. He saw how she avoided him, so he made a point of meeting her eyes now and again, to make her uncomfortable--it was very Spire-like to begin with, but also almost instinctual: the lone wolf, to make the pack-bound pup squirm.

Montana turned to nod in response to Alexander's observation. They were back, and from the sound of their voices, urgent in action rather then frantic. Meaning they had likely escaped with without suffering further casualties. Christina's request wasn't met with any urgency on his part. It assume any number of operatives outside would hold the doors, and he certainly would not be cleaning the car. What Montana was more interested in now, was how their eminent Private Eye, Lady Lulu. would respond to discovering the 'deceased' creature from earlier on in her investigation was very much alive. Before all that however, he was sure there was someone else who would be speaking to him very, very soon. Someone who was probably very keen on sharing their opinion on his recent choice of action. Montana was a thing of the wild and he could sense the coming storm as it approached, it trigger a sixth sense honed by a decade of working for SCION.

Hell hath no fury like an Oren scorned. The first expletive was the pressure drop before the full torrential downpour, complete with Oren force winds. Montana's face was largely expressionless, save for a moment widening of his eyes as she transitioned from berating the first team, to the debacle he had been involved with personally. As Oren's rant came to a close, Montana decided to wait before he responded to her understandable outburst.

He had planned to let Oren's words settle in the air for a few moments before responding, and Alexander's interjection allowed him the few moments he wanted to take before opening his mouth. The Elder Vampires retort was measured, and on some level, an easier way to deal with their current situation for the emotionally detached like himself and the vampire.

On the other hand, festering emotions, much like the wound on Oren's face, were at times better dealt with in the present rather then the future. Along with any lingering doubts the rest of his team had.

"I will explain my actions and reasons, there won't be an argument. Welcome to York. " His eyes moved over to Madison, then back to Oren's orbs of brimstone.

He decided to wait before he continued, the sound of Fel's wheelchair, (he'd need to take a look at it, it shouldn't be making much sound at all) prompted him to wait before continuing. She was awake, but shouldn't be moving around as much as she was. He'd likely escort her back to her room once he was finished here. She had briefly touched on what Montana was going to say, he planned to elaborate.

What she said once their words ceased coinciding, was the very last thing he expected to hear out of her mouth.

It was one of the few things that could've cut through his natural poker face generally, much less the context of their current conversation.

Let it die.

This uncharacteristic hostility caused Montana brows to very noticeably crease for a short time after Fel spoke. The Fallen were an enigmatic species yes, their very descent to earth would kill anything that lived on earth, yet here they were, living among them. Kindness seemed to be ingrained in their very physiology, manifesting in the ability to heal other creatures, and here she was.

Let it die.

It was so jarring, it overshadowed Lulu's reaction to seeing the Cryptid, noted, but overshadowed.

It was when her shaking form left the bed that his intense thought process was halted. Most things happened in slow motion for the man, this was no different. No movement was wasted in the fluidity of his motion. Instead of grabbing her, he positioned his body so she'd fall against his chest first, while his left arm curled against her back, careful to avoid her more grievous wound. His right arm did the same.

"Yes."

She was light, barely anything in his arms.

"I believe your deceased woman re animated during the autopsy."

"I do not doubt your examination was thorough, she, and I apologize, I don't know your name madam, seems to be able survive without her body needing the constant flow of life like ours do."

"Pardon me Lady Lulu."

Montana's right arm moved down to the backs of her legs, and he lifted her up, and gently placed her back onto the cot.

"We will be moving you out momentarily. Oren."

'Oren' was said sharply, a finely honed dagger thrust squarely into the abdomen, almost like he was trying to divert her, very suddenly from an expected path.

"Oren." His voice now was stern, but had lost the initial jab of his first utterance of her name.

"I had reason to believe operation being handled by our missing operative had gone awry, and being an operative who specializes in solo ops, I felt I was the best equipped to handle a potentially dangerous, and completely unknown situation."

"Upon arrival, I found nine dead vampires, slain by our operative and Fel injured and unresponsive."

"I disposed of the bodies and vacated the premisses with Fel before local law arrived on the scene. Said operative opted to track a vampire he had spoken to I assume, prior to the assault."

Montana paused.

"I made a call, if you or the others found it unsatisfactory I've got no issue with taking it to our superiors."

"That aside, I'd like to tend to that wound on your face Oren dear, possibly take a tissue sample before, handling our new guest as you are could lead to further complications."

Instinctively, Madison had stepped forth to catch their new guest, but returned to his original position upon seeing that Montana had taken care of her. A good thing, too; in hindsight, smearing a stranger in someone else’s- rather peculiar- bodily fluids did not tend to be smiled upon.

And, at any rate, it allowed the weight of Fel’s exclamation to fully hit him.

Madison was a cryptid behaviorlogist. He had studied many species, interviewing them, getting to know them, and documenting all of his findings away for later study. Fallen were a type he knew well. They were peaceful, they were kind, and they most certainly did not recoil away from wounded, a scathing remark of “Let it die” on the healers’ lips.

Something was wrong- it was an anomaly, a reaction unheard of in Fallen- in Fel.

He would definitely have to speak to her after this, but not now. There were more pressing matters to attend to, after all.

At Montana’s and Fel’s recounting of what had occurred, Madison bit back a comment of “called it”, instead wringing his hands thoughtfully. He had had a sneaking suspicion that Arc was a sociopath, after all, and fully expected that what drove him was not mind control at all.

Madison wondered if he should have made any bets with anyone beforehand, or if that would have been considered too unprofessional.

Instead of voicing his thoughts on the events surrounding the White Rose, the vampire instead nodded, swinging his arms at his sides. “We all thought that she was dead, but good news is that she’s not quite there yet,” Madison chirped. “But, now, then,”

The researcher turned on his heel once more, gesturing over to Spire, Toby, and Lulu in one sweeping movement. “Since we’re going out and explaining what happened, would anyone care to tell me who are lovely guests are? I’m a bit late to the party, unfortunately, but I’m assuming that the miss is involved with the case?”

Then, as an afterthought, Madison added, “Oh, nice to meet you three, by the way. Sorry about all the ruckus around here.”

Oren was not feeling too pleased with things... and the elder vampire's response to her, clearly confrontational, did little but set her further on edge.

"Yes, because obviously it's ME who is neglecting my work. Of all the people you could talk to about not doing their job, I'm SO OBVIOUSLY the one you should be calling out right now." Oren growled defensively, heavy emphasis on the sarcasm.
"The cryptid came to life mid-autopsy and tried to rip my face off, then I ended up having to get it out when soem biohazard team showed up and the only other suggestions were ether killing her or killing them. SCION promised they wouldn't make me go into the field and then I end up with field agents expecting me to do both my job AND their own, as well as trying to stop them from committing literal murder for no reason beyond convenience. Don't you DARE start lecturing me on professionalism!"

She'd been sufficiently busy with the situation that the woman had not noticed Fel's arrival. Not until she touched the researcher's arm. Unfortunately, Oren was not at all keen on physical contact.

Upon the unwarranted contact, the vampress shot away and hissed, much like an angered cat, at the Fallen, and bore her fangs.
"Don't touch me!" she exclaimed, tone conveying perhaps more alarm than she would have liked. After a second stood back defensively with her eyes narrowed, or so she was able to compose herself, snap her fangs back to their proper length, and address the question.

"Rafael called me, told me Arc had been turned and where he was and told me to go there, before just driving off. Why in the hell he couldn't handle it rather than trying to get someone with a goddamn open wound to go talk to a fledgeling who the fuck knows."

The researcher was hurrying about trying to find some things as Madison had arrived with the cryptid, who hung limply in the man's grasp. Her eyes were open and hands clasped to her chest, but it seemed unclear how much attention she was really paying to what was going on. She had obviously lost a massive amount of blood and looked like she was in a massive amount of pain.

As a result it wasn't that unusual that it drew Fel.

What was unusual what the Fallen's reaction.

And her declaration was enough to alarm the cryptid. Her gaze snapped up and she cringed, pushing away from her, only to gasp as her torn up insides pushed out through the gaps in the bandage. Her eyes flickered about in feverish alarm from Fel's sudden declaration to Lulu's surprise reaction.
"S..sorry!" she choked out, splattering the surface beneath her in greenish ichor.
"Please...I'll... g-go."

"Fel, if you're not going to contribute anything useful then get out." Oren growled, before scampering off to the other side of the room to get some notes, listening, albeit not happily, to what Montana had to say.

"And Montana, you know as well as I do that even if I did complain there's no-one here who would back me up in a million years, so what would be the point? I'm just never going out into the field again. I wouldn't take it as some kind of threat, as no-one seems to have any idea what it is I do or the value of it. "

She became more openly derisive about it upon his offer to help with the slashes across her face.

"Well I would seek medical attention, but you know obviously if I don't have time to complain I clearly don't have time to get stitches. " she responded bitterly as she started pulling things down from the shelves, bristling with feelings of resentment and hostility at both the mission, and people's reaction to her feelings about it.

It hadn’t taken long for Stride to retreat to one of the armchairs with a plate of pizza and soda, enjoying the feeling of cheese stretching out from between her teeth as she relaxed. What with the fact that their part of the mission went off without much trouble- hell, even managing to find a fresh source- she felt that she deserved a little lunch break.

Besides, it wasn’t like her presence was necessary or anything. She’d probably pass through later, once she was done with her break, but the ones who had gathered could otherwise take care of things.

Stride was busying herself with her second slice when Oren had stormed inside, followed by Issac and two others she had never seen before in her life. She watched the pair for a moment behind her goggles, squinting, before rising to go and interrogate Issac. He had, after all, been frustratingly vague on the details, in spite of the fact that it apparently involved half of the team bailing on the job, Arc murdering god-knew how many vampires, and a reviving cryptid.

And speaking of the devil…

With his characteristic brightness, Madison entered the safehouse and began to strut to the medical bay, greeting a majority of the company by name. Given that Stride had long ago given up on correcting the researcher’s habit of referring to her by her first name, she was readying herself to merely give a grunt of acknowledgement before moving to interrogate Issac.

However, the cryptid dangling from Madison’s arms caught her attention, keeping it there as they continued down the hall.

Stuffing the last chunk of pizza into her mouth, Stride slipped out of the chair and onto the seat. If anything, what with how many were gathering in the medical ward, it wouldn’t be difficult to get more details. The fact that Oren currently seemed to be yelling at someone only put more emphasis onto her idea.

Just as she expected, as she approached the room, the voices that drifted out to her were...interesting, to say the least.

“Let it die.” Fel’s voice, of all people.

A mention of nine dead vampires at Arc’s hand, Montana’s voice.

Then a note of the aforementioned fighter getting turned, as well as a startled cry; that was Oren.

Not wasting any more time, Stride walked in, glancing about the room. It seemed as if many of the operatives had gathered, creating a mess of activity in the room.

Only one thing came to mind to say at that moment.

“Five bucks says Mr. Masky’s gettin' fired soon.”
