Spellfall

Klein had been on his journey for awhile now and finally reached the fabled town of Spellfall. With a lot of work and dedication, he found the village of forbidden magic. "Is anyone here?" He asked and looked around, the concealed houses showed no sign of human life. "Where is everyone?" He wondered as he proceeded onward through the town. The village was like a ghost town. Had the populace here been destroyed? He wasn't sure. He then heard voices.

"Come on girl, let's see those magicks go to work!" A woman commanded loudly. "Burn this town to the ground."
A girl in a black witch's hat and black top stood there, looking at a girl in a red garb. "I said, torch this place!"

The girl stood reluctantly. "Why do we have to burn this village down? What did they do to you?" She asked, very calm for the situation.

"Marsha, are you going to stand her and take that from her!? We let you in out of the kindness of our hearts and this is how you repay us!?" A woman in a white garb asked violently. "We took you off the streets, shared our little rations with you. Good lord, you are such a brat!"

The red-haired girl stood her ground and responded. "I thank you for that, but when you took me in, you were nice people, now you want to burn a village down for food. I figured it would come to this." She held up her staff. "You want me to burn this place down? Fine." She closed her eyes.

A giant sphere of flame erupted near the witch. "Eyyah, what the hell!? That bitch tried to burn me to a crisp! I guess this is the thanks we get team... What are you waiting for, an invitation? Kill her and burn the town down!"

A man, bearing the garb of a thief jumped off a roof and tried to slice the girl, Klein saw and had to help her. "Don't hurt her!!" Klein shouted and intercepted the attack with his partisan. "Go, I will hold them off."

"Who the hell is that?!" Marsha said, agitated. "Kill him too!" She rose her staff and began to cast a spell.

The girl nodded. "Are you sure?" She asked. Klein nodded and she took and hid behind some rocks. "Who is that man. Did he follow us? Why is he helping me?" Her mind was racing, but he was outnumbered, four to one. "I have to help."

The girl jumped from behind the rocks. "Konohana Sakuya!" She chanted. The petal-bearing Elemental appeared and provided a boost of resistance to herself and Klein. "Now, let's try a little ice. Ice Pillar!" She called, releasing giant ice shards around Marsha, causing her to lose focus and stop her spell.

"Hang on chief!" The male knight said and went after the Conjurer. "Get over here." He ran full speed, his sword shimmering in the light. "You can't escape from me!"

The girl quickly cast Explosion on the knight causing him to flinch, giving her enough time to escape and join Klein.
"I'm Aurora, a Conjurer, and you?" She asked, putting her back to Klein's.

"Klein, a Dragon Knight of Valia. Pleasure, but we don't have time for introductions." A blast of fire hit Klein, causing him to take damage, but he could retaliate, he jumped into the air and landed straight on Marsha, causing her to fall down.

"You'll pay for this! Spark!" She chanted and caused a bolt of lightning to strike at Klein and Aurora.

The knight called for Marsha. "Chief, they're pretty strong, let's just torch down the village!" He said and pulled out a bomb and flung it at a house and began to fled, as did the thief.

"Great idea, let's just do this." She smiled. "Explosion!" Many fireballs shot at the houses, causing each to ignite, Marsha and her cohorts soon disappeared. However, most of the houses weren't burned, only about 20% of the village was burned, but it would still spread.

"Shit, this isn't good." Klein said and began chanting a spell. "Aqua Rake!" Gigantic bubbles and waves of water began to flow from a magic sphere and try and douse the flames. "It's not enough, I can't do this alone."

Aurora looked down. "I can't do anything, my magic can't stop this fire, I will go try and see if there is some water nearby!" She said and ran towards the forest, hopefully a lake was nearby.

A girl in blue robes and miter began to run towards Klein. Who was this girl?

The girl ran down to Klein. "Let me help!" She smiled and twirled around and began to chant. "Aqua Rake!" She said, causing her spell to mix in with Klein's doubling the power of it. "Keep it up! The flames are nearly gone!" She said and began focusing more power on her spell.

The amount of water dousing the flames was magnificent. The glimmer of the water on the sun, colliding with the flames was truly a unique sight. About fifteen minutes later, the flames had been eradicated. Klein stood, looking at the girl.

"My name is Leonora. I was coming here to grab something then saw the smoke, so I hurried and saw you battling the flames. I can see you're a Blue Mage as well. Only Blue Mages have access to special magic like this." Leonora said, Klein becoming a bit shocked. "I am quite surprised you found your way here. I assume you're here to meet Bartholus, correct, well, this way." She said, going up the path to a mountain area. Klein and Aurora had followed. Eventually they reached the mountain cottage.

"Quite late for you to be here, but I suppose crime happens at any time." Leonora said as she opened the door to an old man, sitting at a table with a large spell book in front of him. "Master Bartholus, this man wishes to speak with you. He is a Blue Mage."

The man was quite surprised. "A Blue Mage huh? I suppose you came to learn about it. Well. let me tell you about it."
A stood up and pulled out a navy book. "Blue Magic is a rare art, many people aren't born with it, but its amazing power comes at a price. Being able to command the power of gods comes at the price of never being able to go to Heaven or Hell upon death."

Klein was shocked at this. Leonora was too.

"Bartholus, you mean, I will never see the ones I love in Heaven!?" She began to tear up. "I wish I wasn't born with this stupid so called "gift" or should I say, curse!" Leonora cried out.

"Now now child. Blue Magic does have its perks. You have the power many dream of, and those who command the power live longer than most people, and the power of intelligence."

Leonora wiped her eyes. "Is that how you lived to be over 200 Bartholus?"

"Correct. I am also a Blue Mage, but you know that as I taught you everything I know. I am sorry the truth must come out like this."

"I don't think I have ever been more scared of death until now... I guess I have to make the best of this."

Klein, Leonora and Aurora all sat in silence, listening to Bartholus tell the story of Blue Magic and his training Leonora of it. The rain outside showed no sign of letting up.
