Adalwolf had arrived in Salzburg at 6:00 am that morning, the first thing he did upon entering the city was to go directly to the authorities, after which he visited the local militia representative, at this time the Americans had control over the city.

Like his compatriot Niclas Elderich, Gottberg could move around the occupied city without fear of being detained. After checking in with his handler Gottberg payed a visit to the local DP Camp (Displaced Persons Camp), to search through their records.

Finding no useful information in their case files he left the facility and jumped into a waiting taxi, from there he traveled across town to arrive at the Wurst Kase bed-and-breakfast around 8:39 am. Adalwolf now stands at the front desk as he waits for someone to assist him.

Adalwolf was a large hefty man, with a reseeding hairline and thick eyebrows, slightly chubby cheeks and a weak chin. Adalwolf had a rather unflattering propensity to sweat profusely, he was not in the best of shape physically either, though health wise he fared a little better.

He was however physically strong and his temper was legendary, he was also quick to anger; brutal, and violent.

In all Gottberg Von Adalwolf was a detestable man.

The young Aryan looking man had come over to him and asked if he could assist him in any way, Gottberg remained silent for a moment as he examined the boys features. Then after a rather uncomfortable pause he answered.

"Ja, I require a room. Adalwolf. Gottberg Adalwolf" As he spoke a bead of sweat dripped from his thin lips.

As Abigail fumbled through her purse in search of some change the black clad man stepped out from his hiding place and quietly strolled over to the booth. Just as Abigail was about to supply the necessary change for her important phone call a voice came from behind, one which she recognized from the past. It was a deep and steady voice, "Greetings Fraulein."

Adalwolf and the young Gunter had passed one another without catching a glimpse of their identities, although Gunter did see enough as to question why anyone would wear a heavy black trench coat in such balmy weather. "I vilt need to send a telegram, as soon as possible." The hefty Nazi commanded as the young lady escorted him to his room.

At first he thought it would be a funny idea, but then he felt a little guilty for frightening Abigail, placing his hands upon her shoulders. "I'm sorry Abby I shouldn't have done that." Abigail turned to discover Walter standing behind her.

"Don't worry Abbs I'm sure Niclas isn't even in the United States. The last I heard he was in west Germany, hiding with a bunch of rebels in an underground bunker somewhere."

Walter then took a single step forward and embraced his friend, turning his head he whispered into her ear. "I had to make sure that no one was following you."

Releasing Abigail and stepping back Walter continued. "Don't look behind you." The lightness of Walter's conversation now changed as he noticed something. "It seems Ive failed in that respect."

Reaching into the pocket of his black trench coat Walter took a hold of his pistol. "I have had to do some unpleasant things this past year. Things I'm still not comfortable with."

Adalwolf paid no attention to the inferior female creature before him, it was much too soon to reveal anything about himself or his intentions.

"That will be fine Miss."

The heavy set man slowed his pace as he witnessed the young boy and his failed attempt to avert his gaze. This was perhaps not the best move on the young mans part, as it only served to peak Adalwolf's curriosity. Gottberg was finally escorted into his room, but as the young woman was about to turn and leave Adalwolf stopped her.

"Fraulein!" He said while reaching into the front pocket of his coat, pulling out some money. "Here." Was all Gottberg said as he handed the girl a Shilling. "Leave the bags by the bed on your way out."

Gottberg then walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind him.

Walter had awoken from many hours of sleep to discover that the plane was about to touch down upon the runway. The jolt of the impact shook the sleep from his weary eyes, now fully awake he prepared to exit the small craft.

Abigail had already climbed out of the plane and after grabbing the letters from the backseat he also disembarked. Having joined Abigail upon the tarmac she and Walter made their way to the shack which served as the terminal of this small private airport.

A half hour later a taxi cab pulled up to the terminal to whisk Walter and Abgial away to the hotel which Walter had mentioned within the 'Linz letter'. Walter escorted Abigail out of the terminal and into the waiting taxi, Walter opened the backdoor for Abigail who upon entering the vehicle scooted over to let him inside.

"Driver! Please take us to The Grand Royale in Linz."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adalwolf was very aware of the intrusion into his appointed room, sneaking up to the door Adalwolf pressed his ear to the door and listened. From within the room he could hear the commotion and knew that the invaders were searching through his 'special case.' Being on the opposite side of the door Adalwolf did not see the arrant object fly from the case and tumble its way under the bed.

The object had also gone unnoticed by the two people inside the room, this object would not be found by Gunter and his associate. After a few moments the two of them exit the room, realizing this Adalwolf went back to his hiding place. The room was now empty and Adalwolf was allowed to reenter the room to see what the strangers had stolen, but after checking the room thoroughly he couldn't find anything amiss, though the case exhibited clear signs of being tampered with.

When Adalwolf bent down to set the case right he noticed the object which lay beneath the queen-sized bed. Adalwolf was quite relieved that they had not found this particular item. The telegram still needed to be sent and so after hiding the item Adalwolf left to accomplish this task.

Adalwolf was confidant that the small object was now in a safe place away from prying inquisitive eyes.

Adalwolf stood at the top of the flight of stairs which led up to the guest rooms listening to the conversation between the two young hotel employees and its owner. Adalwolf would not allow them them to intervene with his duties. What the three had not realized was that Adalwolf was not there for them, he was there under the pretense of seeking out deserters, the fact is Gottberg needed a place to hide out.

Although he had not come to prosecute anyone he felt as though he now needed to keep up appearances. He would have to deal with the hotel staff so that they would not blow his cover, and he had the perfect thing for such a task, it lay within his briefcase. Adalwolf looked down the hall at the door to his room, he thought about the item which he had hidden within the room, turning forward once more he made his way down stairs.

He needed to check on the telegram that he had sent earlier that day, walking right passed the gathering of hotel workers Gottberg walked right out the front door without uttering a single word.

"As you pointed out Abby, this is a recent event, so there are no documents from which we might gleam some useful information." Walter said. Looking around the private room in which he and Abigail sat, he continued. "The reason we are here is because I was told that there is a secret passageway in one of the private rooms within this library, this room."

Placing his hands on the edge of the desk to push himself into a standing position Walter started the search. "Its here somewhere, help me find it." Walter proceeded with the search, first checking the obvious. "Maybe, if we're lucky there will be a hidden lever disguised as a book on one of these shelves."

Walter joked as he pulled back on each and every book. "Unfortunately I have no idea what kind of clue is hidden within the secret passageway, perhaps a document. Any number of things." Walter's voice became strained as he stretched to reach the top shelf, pulling on the last book -finding nothing, clearly this was not the way.

Walter let out a sigh of frustration. "We're not going to find it, we'd have to run our fingers over every inch of this room."

Walter took a step toward the medieval style table, he had only applied the tiniest bit of pressure upon the right corner when he noticed a slight imballance. Looking down at the floor where the right leg was positioned he noticed that the tile beneath the foot of the table on the right side was set lower within the concrete.

"Found it." Walter said with great joy. Crouching down Walter pressed down on the single tile with his fingers, the tile forced even lower by the pressure of his touch -it was a release mechanism. Directly beneath the table a solid slab of tiled floor slid back, revealing the secret passageway that Walter had mentioned only minutes before.

Walter now on all fours shimmied his way beneath the medieval table to look down into the darkness below. It was pitch black inside, all Walter could see were the first few rungs of a wooden ladder which were illuminated by the ambient light within the private room.

Several hours later as the three Inn keepers stood within the reception area Gottberg Von Adalwolf returned, but this time he had brought along some support in the form of five heavily armed American soldiers. Using the telegram he had sent as an excuse to travel to the regional headquarters of the occupying forces -in the case of Austria at this point in time, it was the Americans.

The soldiers were fully aware that Gottberg was a war criminal -a Nazi, but they were under orders, and they were obligated to do whatever Adalwolf might demand of them. The fat sweaty man was still wearing his thick leather coat when he entered the Inn.

"Achtung!"

Gottberg was infuriated by the suggestion of sarcasm in Albert's words, stepping forward in a most forceful manner Adalwolf responded to the young man's accusations.

"I need not explain my actions to you Herr Jurgenstern . You will do as I say."

Suddenly, as if on cue the soldiers raised their weapons and pointed them at the three Inn keepers. Taking a single step back Gottberg continued his admonishment. "These soldiers have been given specific orders to follow my every whim. They will have no compulsions about shooting you down on this very spot."

Gottberg lifted his right arm-extended two fingers and flicked them together in a signaling motion-the American soldiers responded obediently. The soldiers then forced Albert and the girl up the stairs to the second floor, as the other soldier went after Gunter.

"Its him, the fuhrer." Walter let loose with his astonishing revelation.-the surprise in the whites of Abigail's widened eyes could have illuminated the dark cellar with their glare-slowly the realization of what she had just heard sank into her conscious mind.

Walter was now on his knees staring down at the two corpses. "Perhaps not!" He suddenly exclaimed.

"Abigail, did you know that the famous shot of Hitler's dead body taken by the allies in the rubble of Berlin was in fact a doctored photograph? It was faked courteously of the Russians. There are even more of these fakes in circulation in various countries for varying political reasons. Still others proclaim that they are the pictures of look alikes."

Not waiting for his stunned colleague to utter a response Walter continued with his revelations.

"I think that this may be one of the fake bodies."

The three Inn keepers had been locked in the room for several hours, totally cut off from the outside world, with no way of telling what was going on downstairs-Albert was particularly concerned. As they sat within the room they could hear the disturbing sounds of the Inn being torn part from within. More soldiers had arrived in the interim, as witnessed by Gunter who had taken a seat near the window.

The young chambermaid was standing by the door-serving as their lookout-after several hours of silence she suddenly heard the sounds of footsteps approaching the room. She signaled to Gunter to close the window and move his chair nearer to the bed, as to avoid suspension. It turned out to be a false alarm as the footsteps had stopped in front of the door-no one attempted to enter.

The young girl could barely make out what was being said, but she was able to capture a few words. After the soldiers had left she turned to her friends and repeated what she had overheard, telling them that the conversation was about a communique that had just arrived.

Apparently the three of them would be receiving the company of two additional prisoners-Although no names were mentioned it was obvious that the two individuals were of some renown-As words akin to Doctor and professor were being thrown about during the 'near whisper' of a conversation between Adalwolf and the guard.

As the night approached the invading force of American soldiers dwindled down to only two officers-Thinking that Gunter and the others were too frightened to do anything brave or drastic. By the next morning the two new prisoners had arrived at the Inn and were immediately taken up stairs to the small room where the others were being retained.

Immediately upon opening the door the soldiers were rushed by Albert and Gunter-pushing Abigail and Walter aside as they broke through the two soldiers. Their actions allowed Abigail and Walter to make their own move to escape from the torture that they would eventually suffer at the hands of Adalwolf.

This was precisely the reason why Gunter and the others felt it necessary to take action at that point, their apprehensions were soon confirmed in a most terrifying manner. Making their way down the back stairs Gunter and Albert discovered the badly brutalized body of their friend Uwe-Dead.

Gottberg and Niclas were standing out in front of the building and did not hear the commotion, but then several gunshots were fired, the mortar, glass and wood framing of the dwelling had muffled much of the sound.

Luckily Niclas was standing closest to the house and was able to hear the faint sonic traces of gunfire. Adalwolf stood in his place as Niclas ran behind the building-Instinctively knowing that this would be the prisoners choice of egress.

Abegail was being jostled around. That was the only thing she was sure of. Where she was, how she was moving and everything else about the situation made no sense. Her body hurt. A frown creased her brow. "What the hell happened?" Her mind struggled to find memories of the past few hours.

"Hours?" Had it really been hours? Abegail tried to brush her hair out of her face but found her hands tied. Opening her eyes she looked down into the lap. She was leaning against the side of a vehicle, there was a body next to her and the whole thing was moving. Abegail shook her head just slightly and a face appeared. NIclas. She remembered now, the last thing she saw was Niclas walking through the hole they had blasted in the wall. The library, the bodies....Walter.

Using her shoulder, Abegail pushed herself until she was a bit more upright. Looking out the window she had no idea where they were or where they were headed. Her lips clamped shut as she attempted to process what had happened and plan for an escape. A glance to her side, subtle as she did not want to alert the guards and Niclas to the fact that she was awake, revealed the other body to be Walter. He still seemed unconcious.

Abegail closed her eyes just a bit and tried to piece things together. They had been in the underground room in the library. It had been hidden in the floor and there were bodies in it. Walter had speculated that the corpses were test subjects for the Blood Flag. There had been an explosion and then Niclas appeared. It was the last thing she could accurately remember.

He was taking them somewhere. Why? He could have just killed them, why bring them along? Abegail sat with this question, watching through the slits of her eyelids as the outside world passed them by.

Eventually the vehicle stopped and she was pullled out. A groan escaped as she was roughly brought to her feet. "Ye canna be a little gentle? Na need ta be an arse." She glared at the man who pulled them out. Abegail blew a piece of her auburn hair out of her mouth. Bringing her composure back, Abegail turned to look at Niclas.

"Tell me, what is the point of bringing us here? We do not have anything that belongs to you." She barely controlled the sneer in her voice.

Another man, a large bulky figure joined them outside and with a flick of his hand Niclas dismissed his men to take the professors inside.

Abegail huffed as one of the guards grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. "Cannot even answer me you coward." This, the tone angry, Abegail tossed over her shoulder at Niclas before she was moved inside.

Abegail looked at Walter, wondering how hard of a bump the man had taken for him to say or do nothing in all of this. They were escorted upstairs. A door was opened for them but no sooner had it opened when a group of people came rushing out at her and the others. A yelp of surprise rose up from her throat as she was shoved out of the way of the fleeing people.

Yells and gunshots rang out. Abegail found herself on the ground, her hands still bound but the guard who had been holding her was now preoccupied with the others. Abegail looked around frantically for Walter. Despite the noise around her Abegail managed an audible hiss of his name.

"Walter!"

She crawled towards the now vacant room, not bothering to worry if her guard was going to follow her or not. She needed her hand free but the guards were on or blocking the stairs. This left her with the room as her only option. Crawling inside as fast as she could, Abegail pressed her back up against a wall, pausing to take a breath.

"What a fine you are in now Abby girl....."

May 19, 1945. Munich, Germany.

The city of Munich was heavily damaged by allied bombing, suffering 71 air raids over a period of six years. The entire city had crumbled to the ground with the dubious exception of several hundred feet around Königsplatz square, where among other things the national headquarters of the Nazi Party was located. This ungodly building had been partially destroyed by the bombing, it would later be demolished by the allies, much of the surrounding area had also been destroyed.

The only structures to have survived the allied invasion were the "Honor Temples" on the east side of the square where the remains of the sixteen Nazis martyrs (the 16 Immortals) who died in the 1923 were interd. It was no surprise that these pillar monuments would remain untouched by the war, for these were the orders given to the invading forces, the command to preserve the structures came from a joint American, German and British secret alliance.

This secret cabal worked within various divisions of the allied forces-To further their own agenda-Completely without the knowledge of their respective countries. The plan was to clear the city and secure the two sites to serve as the base for 'Operation Fourth Reich'-Being the very same location used by the Nazi for their barbaric and unholy rallies during the war.

Nine of the thirteen immortals have already been exhumed by the Russians, more are scheduled for exhumation in the next month-The October 28th deadline approaching fast.

All that is required now is to gain possession of the Blood Flag and resurrect the 16 Immortals and their leader Adolf Hitler.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Walter and Abigail were still in a daze as they were taken out of the large German made Ford truck and shoved into the building and up the stairs to the furnished prison. The guards were behind them pushing Walter and Abigail forward, but as they approached the door the soldiers pushed the prisoners aside-Their hands still bound.

The two soldiers now standing before them opened the door; only to be rushed by the inmates within. Plowing through the soldiers and knocking the two scholars to the floor they made their escape, in the confusing of the struggle Walter and Abigail wound up inside the room. Walter was not as fortunate as Abigail, he had hit the floor in an awkward position and in much pain-Which however assisted in the breaking of his bonds.

The soldiers had gotten to their feet and after firing several warning shots they promptly chased after the Innkeepers. Walter managed to get free and after finding his way to Abigail untied her bonds and aided her in getting to her feet.

They didn't feel that they had much of a chance escaping since they would be following behind the two soldiers, they counted themselves fortunate when the soldiers, being confused by the scuffle decided to search each room for the escaped prisoners.

This allowed Walter and Abigail to sneak by them and make their way down the backstairs, they were eventually able to catch up with the Innkeepers at the small shack.

Niclas had just missed Walter and Abigail, having taken the wrong alleyway.

While Abigail and Walter were introducing themselves to Albert and his companions Niclas was cursing himself for letting the prisoners escape. Meanwhile Gottberg had left his position in front of the Inn and had walked around the corner-Gottberg was just in time. The small vehicle driven by Albert was rounding the corner when Adalwolf drew his weapon and fired several shots at the passing car.

The first bullet flew passed the vehicle without hitting its mark, the second shot penetrated the steel chassis; nearly hitting Gunter in the thigh. The last projectile succeeded with its objective-The young servant girl Ella would be the first of the group to die-Shot in the side of the head with the bullet fired from Gottberg's Luger.

Gunter was surprised as the woman began to speak English. She didn't sound German. Slightly strange, like she was using an American accent that she didn't quite have. "Pleased to meet you, Ms. McHugh." Gunter said shakily. Albert just nodded. "You, sir?" he said to Walter. But as the man was making his introduction, they rounded a corner and Albert saw the Nazi Gottberg drawing a pistol to fire on them. "Alle runter!" he shouted, the surprise making him forget his English. Then he swerved the car back and forth as the first shot rang out, missing. Gunter ducked and yelped in surprise as the seat next to him was shredded by another bullet. Ella, however, was still sitting up in shock when one last bullet shattered her skull, a splatter of her blood hitting the back windshield. Gritting his teeth, Albert stayed upright through force of will and carefully controlled the car. "Stay down!" he yelled, steering the car to where it had it's back to Gottberg. Then he drove it down a side street. Soon they would be behind a row of buildings and hopefully home free.

The vehicle rounded another corner freeing its riders from any further gunfire, though Adalwolf had taken the life of one of its occupants. The driver and passengers breathed a collective sigh of relief, they were quickly approaching the edge of of the small town, though they had little hope of escaping.

Walter was at a loss for a possible safe-house, he knew little of the town having never been there before. It was therefore up to Albert and perhaps Gunter to suggest somewhere for them to hold up.

"We must find someplace to hide, at least until we can figure out what to do next."

Turning to Abigail. "I must confess that I'm not quite sure what is going on in this town. I mean Niclas knows where the flag is, its in Linz. So why has he shipped us here to Salzburg?"

Thinking for a moment he continued. "Maybe he just wanted to get us out of the way first."

Gunter and Albert looked at Walter with a strangness in their expression which told the two scholars that they had no idea what was being referenced by this rather odd comment from Doctor Miller. They had a long drive ahead of them so Walter took the oppertunity to fill the others in as to what he and Abigial had come to Austria to find.

It didn't take long for Walter to mount up a response to Albert's slightly snide challenge. "No Sir, weapons first." Walter had no desire to abuse anyone, but he knew that if they managed to get away from Niclas again, as they surely had, they would be shot on sight the next time they met.

He understood the danger of turning the vehicle around and heading back into town for weapons, but these items would be crucial to their success. The answer to the dilemma soon presented itself to the four renegades. "What is that!!" Walter exclaimed loudly.

The vehicle was quickly approaching the last guard post which stood just outside Salzburg.

The post consisted of two small white buildings on either side of the road, and a long white wooden pole which had been lowered to connect the two structures. The stations were manned by two Austrian guards-One to each booth.

"Pull the car over!!" Walter commanded. Albert reluctantly pulled the vehicle over to the side of the dirt road.

"Why are we stopping here professor?" Albert said with a hint of sarcasm and accusation in his tone. The two of them exchanged harsh glances before Walter climbed into the drivers seat of the VW truck.

"Those guard stations are usually stocked with weapons in case someone tries to break through the blockade. Take the girl's body out of the back."

Walter turned to the others. "I don't intend to drive through the post.....Well, not exactly." Turning to face the road ahead Walter stepped on the accelerator. Like a shot from a gun Walter drove the vehicle at top speed toward the booth on the left side of the road.

The two soldiers attending the post ran out of their buildings with their riffles in hand. The two men ran to the center of the long white pole-Obviously thinking that the driver intended to run their post. To their surprise the man driving the vehicle turned to the right and went up on the small embankment.

Then Walter turned the steering wheel to the left with the intention of crashing into the small structure. The vehicle was just about to jump down from the small incline when Walter ejected himself from the driving seat, the truck crashed into the rickety structure; destroying it completely.

Walter had jumped from the vehicle and rolled down the small hill with weapon in hand. The soldiers lost sight of the driver in the confusion, allowing Walter to gain the upper hand.

Walter looked at Abigail with tremendous guilt his eyes, he knew that he had risked hurting Abigial deeply by not telling her of her parents-Their deaths. Words however were not needed, the mere reflection of sorrow and remorse wearing upon Walter's eyes was enough. Tears had built up in the professor's eyes, but before the first drop could escape Walter had turned to look at Niclas.

The bridge which linked what Walter had feared to speak aloud and the final realization of the heinous act perpetrated by the Nazi-Summed up in an exchange of glances between Walter, Abigail and Niclas Elberich.

Now smirking and greatly pleased with himself.

"Take them into the museum." The loathsome Nazi commanded.

Gottburg, the fat man in his trademark heavy leather trench coat, turned around and walked back into the museum as the three SS officers pushed the prisoners forward. It had been a particularly balmy night, certainly not the ideal weather for stalking about in such a smothering garment.

The constant profuse sweating of the bulking man disgusted Walter to no end, the pressure of the situation finally getting to him, suddenly yelling out. "Take that Goddamn heavy trench coat off you fat pig."

All heads snapping with surprise in Walter's direction. Gottburg paid Walter no attention.

Walter now turning his head in ordder to whisper to Abigail. "I'm so sorry Abby, I just thought...that if we could just get our hands on the flag...we could..."

Walter's attempts to reconcile with his colleague were suddenly thwarted by Nicals, who commanded everyone to hold their positions in front of a particular piece of art.

"Dies ein, stoppen Sie hier!" The group of captives and their captors found themselves standing before a large painting upon the museum's main displaying wall-A place of honor.

Everything happened so fast. First they were about to go into the museum, next they were being taken captive - all their plans ruined. Gunter squirmed and fought against the Nazi that held him, but it was no use. They were captured. Walter and Abigail were in a heated conversation and finally Walter yelled something at Gottberg.

Gottberg. The same man that had entered their inn earlier that morning. Who could have guessed that Gunter would have ended up here, with these Americans and with Albert, Uwe, and Ella all dead? And on a quest to save the world, no less? It was mind-boggling. Well, it was the way of the world, he guessed, that peace and quiet could not be allowed. Something had to go wrong.

'Dies ein, stoppen Sie hier!' Gunter looked up and saw the portrait. He recognized it as one of the Führer's thirteen works that they had been educated about in school. This particular one was created in 1910, and Gunter had always grudgingly liked it. It had a kind of simplicity to it that appealed to him. But he couldn't stand its painter. He had ruined Germany.

Gunter's arm almost went up in the Nazi salute just out of habit and drilling. But he stopped his arm and instead spat at the painting. "Vielen Dank für stoppen." He said to Niclas. "Ich brauchte das tun."

Abegail shook her head. One look at Walter and she knew. Her parents were dead. Her shoulders shook just a little with silent tears. She looked up again and was met by Niclas' self satisfied face. She snarled at him, her teeth clenched.

Before Abegail could react though Niclas ordered them into the museum. Abegail balked in the hands of the soldier who moved her.

“Get yer hands off of me.” Abegail was seething. She was no match for the strength of the soldier. His fingers dug painfully into her arms. Her eyes bore holes into the back of Niclas' head as he walked just ahead of them. Abegail barely paid any attention to the large man in the leather coat.

The man holding Abegail kept leading her inwards. She wanted to get her hands on Niclas, wanted to beat him with her fists. Walter's outburst shocked her out of her anger. Abegail looked over at him, confused. Her eyes strayed to Gottburg. The large man was sweating profusely and yet still wearing the heavy leather coat. It did not make Walter's exclamation any less odd.

Again Walter's voice cause Abegail to change her focus. Her head turned, auburn hair falling loose in places from the motion. A wave fell across her face, partially obscuring her view. All she could do was nod at Walter's whispered apology. “I wish ye had told me when we were on the plane...I would have had time to...”

To what? Process and understand? Grieve? Abegail wasn't entirely sure but she knew it would have been preferred to handle the news in a private setting instead of in front of Gunter and the nazi's, especially Niclas. It made her stomach turn to know the man had seen her upset.

Niclas' voice, ordering them to stop made Abegail clench her jaw again. Her eyes lifted to the painting and then focused back on Niclas. She spit on his shoe, defiance clear on her face.

Nearby she heard someone else spit. A glance and she could see Gunter spitting towards the painting. The boy had spirit, that much was clear. Her heart sank a little knowing they had brought him into all of this. Niclas smack the boy.

“Donna touch him.” Abegail tried to lunge out of the soldier's hands towards the officer. For her effort she was rewarded with being yanked backwards firmly. A small chuckle from behind her made her seeth. The man had been expecting her to react and was clearly amused at her attempt. Abegail's chest heaved as she tried to control both her breathing and her anger. “Just ye wait...”

Abegail shook her head as she watched the soldier push Gunter into a room and the large man follow. She had had enough. Angry, tired and just plain fed up Abegail was done yelling.

Her heel came down hard on the man's foot. It wouldn't hurt him but it would make him bend out of sheer reaction. As she felt his body come forward, Abegail thrusted her head backwards. The contact of her skull to his face made her see stars for a moment. With a small yelp of pain, Abegail took off at a run towards Niclas. The soldier was holding his face now but she did not give him a backwards look.

Abegail ran straight into Niclas. She didn't care if she knocked him down or simply ran him into the closest wall or person. She just wanted a distraction, something to make everyone else stop, let Walter react. Frankly, it just felt good to hit the officer.

Elbows braced in front of her, Abegail hit Niclas in the side. Her elbow made contact with his ribs and she kept moving. Niclas grunted with the contact. “Ye bastard.”

Gunter recoiled from the slap but then stared defiantly back at the Nazi who had struck him. "Sie sind der Verräter." Then he felt himself being pushed into another room by Gottberg, and suddenly he realized that what was about to happen. He didn't know if he could withstand torture. In fact, he didn't think he could. But he would be damned if he didn't make a good show of it. But then he realized that the Nazis had failed to search them - again. He still had his knife in his shirt, the one that they had given to him to signify their ownership of him. Well he was about to show them just how much they owned him. His heart raced in his chest, but he remained calm, breathing deeply. He felt his face flush with excitement, and the adrenaline course through him. He prepared his attack, timing Gottberg's steps with his own, getting ready to strike...

When he heard commotion behind him. Both he and Gottberg turned to look and Gunter took this opportunity to strike. He pulled out his knife, and, "Blut und Ehre!" he cried ironically as he leaped onto the big man's back, stabbing in the blade.

Frankly, Walter was at a loss as to how he and his companions were going to get out of their current situation, the guilty feelings of not informing Abigail of her parents untimely demise weighed on him heavily-Sapping him of any desire and strength to continue. It wasn't until Gunter was taken into the small room with the maniac butcher Gottberg Von Adalwolf and Abigail's subsequent outburst of bravery and determination, that he was able to regain his rightful mind.

Walter would not let the opportunity pass him by and so he immediately took action, repeating Abigail's wonderful improvised movement, but adding to it a well placed punch to the soldiers face. Niclas was still on the floor and now this SS soldiers had joined him, Walter was now free to exit the museum, but then he thought about poor Gunter and the horrors that surly awaited him at the hands of the lunatic Adalwolf.

Walter found himself stuck between the front door of the museum and the entrance to the room where Gunter was being detained. Witnessing Abigail's flight of agility and bravery Walter realized that it was more important to save the boy, after all what could Gunter do to defend himself against the hulking Adalwolf. To Walter's great surprise and even greater delight, the youth had the beastly man at a marked disadvantage, but there was still an SS soldier to be dealt with, and to this task Walter dedicated himself.

Walter attacked the soldier and they both fell to the hardwood floor-Wrestling about.

Within the next room Niclas was concerning himself with the acquisition of the Blood Flag, feeling that his rivalry with the two professors could wait for another day. Wiping the blood from beneath his nose with the back of his right hand he approached the painting rumored to conceal the flag. Ripping the framed picture from the wall he turned it over, then taking out his knife Niclas cutt the back of the painting. "Scheiße. Wo ist der verdammte Blutfahne."

Back within the torture room Walter was wrestling on the floor with the Nazi officer as Gunter clutched at Adalwolf's back-Holding on to his heavy leather coat for dear life as the brutish man began to spin in place. Walter was gaining the advantage over the well trained SS officer, as Gunter was beginning to lose his grip on Gottberg's trench coat.

By the time Walter had subdued his opponent he had just enough time to turn his head and witness Gunter flying through the air. Luckily for Gunter their was a crate which was laying on its side-Open face to the front with packaging material spilling out onto the floor-Into which Gunter was safely posited. Adalwolf's body teetered to and fro as he tried to regain a sense of equilibrium and posture.

It was then that Adalwolf revealed the true reason for the constant donning of that heavy leather trench coat. Walter and Gunter looked at each other in a single unified movement, the look upon Gunter's face was of pure astonishment, whereas Walter's face gave off the impression of suspicions now answered.

"He has the Blood Flag." Gunter called out.

In his attempt to steady himself Gottberg had unintentionally revealed his secret-The infamous Blood Flag had been wrapped around his bulging frame all along.

Pulling out his Luger Adalwolf warned Walter that if he did not move away from the door the young boy would be shot in the face. Not wanting to risk any ones life Walter complied, moving to stand near Gunter on the right side of the room.

Spinning around Adalwolf exited the museum.

They hit something hard. Abegail hit Niclas in the side and the momentum caused the pair to ram into the closest wall and down to the floor. He grunted but being quicker than she and used to combat, turned his body to grab onto the Irish woman. Niclas' hands gripped her hard and he snarled. The Nazi pinned Abegail to the floor, sitting astride her.

Abegail looked up at him, too angry to care about the fingers that were digging into her skin. He smiled down at her. The smile, the self-satisfied sneer as his eyes met hers made Abegail even angrier. Before she could say anything, Niclas moved her arms so that his knees held them down. She cried out in pain.

He scoffed at her yelp and making a fist hit the woman across her face.. Her head snapped to the side as he made contact. She slumped. Abegail was having trouble focusing. Stars danced behind her eyes. The weight was removed from her as Niclas walked away, intent on the painting.

She heard the boy yell but couldn't make out if it was in pain or defiance. Her face hurt. Rolling to her side, Abegail's hand tentatively touched her face. It was swelling already and her eye was difficult to open. Breathing out heavily she pushed herself to stand. She could see the others milling about, the confusion and chaos.

“Walter...Gunter...”

A loud crash made Abegail look up as the boy landed in a crate, he and the packing material hitting the floor. Her eyes found the large man who had tossed the boy. He was pointing a gun at Walter now. Walter moved to stand with the boy. Abegail didn't move. The man fled the museum.

Her vision blurred and things became very fuzzy. Frowning, she tried to shake the feeling off to no avail. Her knees gave way and Abegail landed on the floor.

“What...have to stop him....” Abegail was breathing deeply.

Behind her, Niclas' footsteps echoed on the floor. He was almost too calm as he stared out the door. The sneer returned. A sharp call out of orders. More footsteps as the other soldiers approached Walter and Gunter.

Abegail felt a hand on the back of her neck. It drew her up to her feet. There she stood but her feet didn't want to help keep her upright. The world spun slightly. There was breath against her ear as hands held her tighter.

“Fraulien, you are coming with me.” Abegail tried to pull out of Niclas' hands.

“Take them to the cars.”

As could be expected, Niclas wasn't being particularly gentle with Abigail as he tried to shove her into an awaiting vehicle in the form of a dusty camouflaged Jeep. Abby of course wasn't someone to be pushed around like that, she was growing increasingly frustrated and angry, and she certainly had just cause to despise the murderer of her parents.

Inside the small storage space within the museum a well hidden SS Officer made his presence known and immediately grabbed the young boy by the arm. Gunter turn his head to where Walter had been standing on his right, only to find that the professor had already made a break for it. From hiss perspective, Gunter wasn't sure if Walter would go directly after Gottberg and the Flag, he had only spend a very short amount of time with the professor, someone who definitely seemed on-edge. In the back of his mind at least, he wondered if Walter would save his friends first.

Of course the reason for that had already been divulged, it was guilt, but all the same, he wasn't sure. The SS Officer, with his clearly non Aryan features escorted Gunter out of the museum and dragged him forcibly to the front of the building and to the awaiting vehicle which had been parked there. Gunter was doing his best to resist the officers efforts to push him forward, kicking up dust and assorted small rocks as he dragged his feet.

"Move! you Jerry, German bastard!" The officers voice was clearly and unmistakeably American.

Niclas, with Abigail in tow, were nearing the beige colored camouflage jeep, the embalm stuck to its side identified the vehicle as an American make and brand. Abigail had spotted yet another German officer standing by the drivers-side door with his back turned to them.

"Sie gibt, öffnen die hintere Tür für die junge Dame!" The unknown officer apparently could not hear Niclas yell his command, which made sense since the jeep was running at the time.

Several additional attempts to get the young officers attention had failed and Niclas was getting angry.

"I have no time or patients for this." Pulling out his pistol as he forced Abigail on, releasing the grip of one hand to pull the weapon from its side-holster.

"My German has gotten pretty good, huh Abby!?" The stunned Niclas heard Walter's distinctive voice call out, leaving little time for his enemy to react Walter turned around to reveal the revolver which he already had pointed at Niclas' stomach.

Abigail herself was pretty fast on her feet as she grabbed Niclas' weapon and tore it from his grip, which was loose due to the surprise of the moment. Walter and Abigail now, and for the first time, had Niclas just where they wanted him. Walter raised his revolver and pointed it directly at the exact level to reach Niclas' forehead.

"Killing me will not bring back the Frauleins parents. You do not possess the Blood Flag, nor will you ever see it again." Niclas said with a slight chuckle.

Walter then lowered his weapon "You right about one thing, at least partly. For its not my place." Walter looked at his weapon and then cast a glance at Abigail before walking away.

This left Niclas confused as he witnessed Walter walk away from the scene and return to the museum.

As the drama in front of the museum was heating up Gunter and his captor were nearing the edge of the building, which would have brought them into full sight of what was transpiring around the corner. Suddenly, and seemingly from out of nowhere another jeep came speeding toward them. Gunter had stopped his kicking and the officer his pushing, as they both stood and watched the vehicle approach.

The jeep was clearly a German styled vehicle and so the officer wasn't too concerned about who might be piloting the speeding vehicle. The Jeep had approached from behind, so not even Abigail and Niclas could see the driver, though they would be the first to come to the realization of his identity.

To the astonishment of them all the driver was soon revealed to be that of Gottberg himself. The jeep was still some distance away when a single shot was fired by Gottberg.

Although never known as a marksman Gottberg did succeed in shooting the officer right between the eyes at this distance.

Gunter barely had time to respond before he was pulled into the Jeep as it drove by, though it never stopped. Gunter's feet dragged upon the dusty ground for several hundred feet, but was eventually pulled completely and safely into the vehicle by Gottberg.

Walter had been looking out the window and had the best advantage point from which to see Gunter being abducted.

Gunter recoiled in surprise as the officer behind him collapsed with a bullet to the head. Gunter would have fallen back with the officer, whose corpse was still clutching his arms, but he was pulled forward by someone in the car whizzing by. The boy felt the dead officer's hands slide off of him as he was dragged along the groud at an incredibly fast speed. He winced as his feet dragged, every now and then hitting a bump in the road and jerking his legs at odd angles. Soon he was pulled into the car with whoever pulled him in, and to his horror he realized it was Gottberg. After he got over the shock, he asked in a shaky voice, "What do you want with me?"

Abegail was too focused on Niclas. She didn't hear the other man approaching, didn't see him step behind Niclas. The click of the gun jolted her. Her surprise clear in her face.

He turned jostling her in the process. Abegail frowned. Niclas gripped her harder to hide his shock. He was trying to keep calm, that much was clear. He finished his turn, facing the officer fully on and Abegail felt the grip loosen.

Backing away from him slowly, not wishing to bring attention to herself, Abegail watched the two officers.

She stared as the officer addressed her. She didn't even bother to nod, simply turned and began to run, heading into the museum.

“Walter...I....Niclas...” She looked over her shoulder. She wasn't sure exactly what had happened but she knew she was free and that is what mattered.

Abegail pointed to the door out, “Jeep. Waiting for us.”

Abegail let Walter drive. As she sat in the passenger seat she became aware of how much her hands were shaking. Walter watched for signs of where Adalwolf had gone and Abegail was barely paying attention.

She had shot a man. A man she hated but she had shot him. Abegail was half way between tears and anger. Her eyes burned as she came to terms with trying to kill a man. Her anger burned almost as much that she hadn't actually killed him.

The jeep stopped, forcing her forward in her seat. Abegail's hands went up to stop herself from falling out of her seat. She looked around, suddenly remembering the boy. “Where...were would they go?”

Abegail's mind was trying to catch up to events. Walter asked where the flag could be tested. Abegail's eyes met his. “Library.”

Abegail was horrified. Adalwolf had the flag and Gunter. They had to get there and they had stop him.

“Walter...go...we have to stop them.”

Abegail's fingers gripped the dashboard, knuckles white. Their only chance was to get there before the man did anything to the boy or used the flag.
