Full Name: As most Sphinx names are extremely difficult to pronounce and spell, she asks everyone to refer to her as Maycenna. (May-Sin-Uh) It is the closest thing to her actual name. Nickname is May (Used only by Mira or Aoi).
Age: Unknown.
Breed: Sphinx.
Role: The Yellow Rose's Follower/Companion.
Appearance:
^ All details are here that basically represent her. ^ Wings and basic colors, excluding the gold main.
Brief Description: Unlike the rest of her kind, Maycenna stands at a height around 28 inches; that of an Eurasian lynx. The larger bulk which the remaining species posses is distasteful to the young one herself, and she prefers to be able to get in and out of small areas easily, as well as remain obscure. It was the sphinx's own decision to become this size, and she has always found it most fitting. Although Sphinxes have the characteristics of a humanistic face, Maycenna prefers to wear a mask. Her mask is porcelain with gold trimmings. The object's outline displays tiny luminous crystals devised by both the Green Rose and the Yellow Rose alike, in order to aid her companion if need arises. The pelt of this sphinx is overall a dusty gold with ash-colored markings of an African wildcat. Maycenna's mask is of an owl, to portray beauty, grace, and wisdom. Eyes are a tundra grey with sea green flecks. Has semi-long, dark brown hair.
Maycenna is one of the Sphinxes who have retained her feline ears instead of human ears. Hair is usually down, but sometimes put up by her Master for meetings and special occasions.

Personality: Maycenna is extremely graceful in the way she holds herself and walks, having it reflected by the air of wisdom she possesses. Her sight and hearing are exceptionally keen, hardly missing anything in her surroundings. However, this sphinx will never tell a person outright of any danger, they must first, as customary, answer a riddle, whereas following May will either give them the information, or the answer to the riddle will clue them in on it. As with all creatures, she also has another side. Occasionally she'll end up being sly and mischievous, taunting or even toying with others. In this phase she enjoys using sarcasm.
History: When Maycenna was born, she was relatively celebrated over. For most Sphinxes are female, the males being exceedingly rare to find, thus causing the species to be scarce. She grew up in the foot hills of the mountains by a stream, with only her mother caring for her carefully. It would be not only devastating, but disgraceful as well, should a Sphinx kit die. The Sphinx mothers are banished from the clan until the birthing and weaning is finished, and then allowed back in the group. This is for the kitâs safety only.
The way Sphinxes share their wisdom with each other is through riddles, and this is exactly what Mayâs mother did for her as she was growing up. Sphinxes travel throughout the entire world, including some other realms, in order to gain information so they can form riddles. The species is one that craves knowledge and are used as guardians for some areas and treasures. If you answer a Sphinxes riddle incorrectly, you will be devoured. However, Maycenna frowns upon this practice, considering all sheâs ever really experienced are rogue vampires, and has only come across two humans in her lifetime so far. The Sphinx are sometimes able to capture their victims with their gaze, forcing them to remain on the spot to answer their riddle and hopefully answer it wrong so the Sphinx can gain a delicacy. Of course this is âmost unfortunateâ for the humans.
Maycenna does share the ideals of humans being delicious, but she has never gotten a chance to actually test such a theory out.
Once she was weaned, her mother abandoned her and disappeared back into the forests to rejoin the others. Maycenna had it pretty boring afterwards, always scaring off the random little creatures with her features, and growing to despise the humanistic features she possessed. She ran across a few rogue vampires, getting the chance to play riddles on them. Honestly, this was only for entertainment, there was no possible way for her to actually eat any of them, nor would she want to either. They always got them wrong.
Then on an evening sometime during the autumn months, she stumbled across one of the Roses. And this Rose happened to be stuck in a pitfall trap; obviously not by her own stupidity. She was extremely curious, thus causing the craving of knowledge to arouse within her. The sphinx approached her, and immediately asked her a couple of riddles. Maycenna was utterly surprised to find that she got each and every one of them correct, despite her dire condition. As custom, she assisted the Rose in every way that she could for answering the sphinxâs riddles.
She told the girl her name (what was closest to it anyway) and asked to come along and live with her. The girl, Miraiya, accepted the proposal, and thus their companionship started. May allowed the information about her despising her human face to the Rose, and requested a mask be formed for her. She was granted her wish, and the mask was formed in the shape of an owl, for beauty and wisdom, with very small luminous crystals embedded on the edges and feather tips.
Maycenna adores the Radiant Hall, as well as Mira and Aoi (although on a much lesser level; only because she is her masterâs sister and her master likes her very much), and stays by Miraiyaâs side at all times. She does her best to ensnare people with difficult riddles in order to bring them to her master to see if she will accept them for her goals. Though these happenings are beyond rare, having only happened twice and both ended in failure, May is still searching for a human for the Rose Mira.

~ Maycenna has an extremely horrifying side to her when a werewolf or 'more intelligent being' fails her riddle. By the laws of the Sphinx, anyone who gets their riddle wrong will be eaten. Maycenna is able to grow in size when a riddle is failed, thus giving her the ease of access to take down said prey. However, when it comes to vampires, she remains small, even if a riddle is not answered correctly. It's got to do with random magics and bindings of the Olden.
