Name: Zale (meaning "sea-strength")
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Race: Mer/man
Position: Prince of Atlantis
Sexual Orientation: Hetero-sexual
Status: Single
Ability: Water Manipulation, Water Sorcery (Water is on his side basically, though too much use would just weaken him)

Appearance: There is much deliberation as to what a merman looks like. To the Greek, they have green seaweed-like hair, a beard and a trident. To the Irish, they are extremely ugly creatures with pointed green teeth, pig-like eyes, green hair, and a red nose. However, it seems the Finnish had the right idea, seeing them as magical, powerful, handsome, bearded men with a tail of a fish, with the ability to cure illnesses, lift curse, brew potions, whilst becoming curious about humans....though the ability to cure illnesses and lift curses and brew potions is more idealistic for Mermans but they are indeed magical and beautiful.

Zale is a beautiful and handsome Merman, though unlike the tale by the Finnish, he had no beard but a soft skin upon his rounded face with sea-blue eyes which complimented his blue hair and his blue fish tail. He is quite tall, though hard to put a precise measurement due to his tail, but is very talented...in music, in song, in swimming (obviously), looking very majestic (being a Prince and all). Though he may not be able to cure illnesses, lift curses and brew potions as legends speak, they do have a great deal of knowledge of the sea and all it has to offer, and are gentle creatures....unless they are threatened.

To Zale, he can never get tired living in the sea, and he can't afford to with his responsibilities. He has quite a few different attires that he wears on his human part, just so he isn't showing off his chest all the time (though he doesn't bother him yet does make him look cool). For arms, the King holds the Trident while he carries a Golden Spear, though he has two small crysknives that he holds for protection that his guards insist on if he will not let them come with him.

Note: Image to the left shows two images in one, but is the same one just at different angles with different attires

Personality: Being a Prince, means he has quite a bit of responsibility, despite the King seated at the throne, but as the King gets older and older, Zale is forced to pay attention. Now being a Prince, many females would dream of being rescued by a brave young knight or being married to a handsome Prince, but the job that comes with it isn't one to be enticed by. Zale enjoys his freedom, being able to relax, keeping the other merman happy (and of course the mermaids by simply seeing him) with his relaxed nature.

However, despite how laid back he may be, he is pretty blunt, states things how they are and moves on. What is past, is past. What is the future, is the future, living each day to the full. Though how harsh he may be, he is pretty cool and does genuinely care of those around him and what he does not like is his people in danger (though he may not be King, they are still his people).

History: Zale is the son of King Tridon. It is believed that Tridon's line came from the line of Triton, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, some believe they came from king Neptune himself, whereas some believe that they came from Glaucus who ate some grass with magical properties and became a Merman, having more human properties, which explained why Merfolk began to get interested in humans rather than living in harmony.

Whatever line they came from, they were the Rulers of Atlantis, with the aged King Tridon on the throne, and his heir, Prince Zale, who also had the task of making sure he had an heir rather than play around. When the mermaids laid eggs, not every one was successful, and for poor King Triton, he only had one son compared to his father who had 4 sons and 3 daughters, so he had great expectations for Zale and saw him doing great things, though it wasn't showing much now. He was such a mystery, but perhaps now that he was getting older, that he would start opening up...

So begins...

With Old King Tridon remaining in his chambers and holding council, it left Zale to wander about the Kingdom and be the face that their people could come to, seeing as he would be next in line. It was the Trident that was more appealing than the work involved, since right now, it meant he could lie about from time-to-time, though having such a weapon was neat. It is often rumoured to be the Trident that King Neptune himself had wielded.

Fairytails. Then again, many thought that their existance was just a fairytail until the Merfolk decided to exchange harmony for trade, and that King must of been a madman to invite all these pirates in, but as long as they caused no trouble, it would be alright, and least they had something to do in the north of the Kingdom which had rosen above the water.

It was much preferred to remain below the water, as it was alot cooler, and safer. Zale also enjoyed swimming. but today, it seemed that there was something new in his schedule, something or rather someone, which would definitely make things exciting now, and for Zale, he loved diving into something new. He was the spontaneous type afterall.

In the middle of his swim, a mermaid came upto him and whispered the latest news which tickled his fins, as he then rose up. Faster and faster. Quicker and quicker, as water exploded out into the open sky, and a huge wave emerged from it, and who was upon such a grand wave......but Zale himself. Couldn't help being the show-off, couldn't help being a sport, yet despite his strange actions for a Prince, people did get along with him, since he was pretty open.

Zale mostly dwelt in the southern part of Atlantis under water, but above water dwelt the fish folk and pirates. The mermaid had brought news that a human had been sighted in the northern part, and as a result, Zale immediately sprung into action being immediately intrigued and using his water powers granted by the God of the Sea (or at least that's who he had been told who gave him such ability) to leave the comfort of the sea and find out more.

In times past, Merfolk remained quiet and led solitary lives whilst keeping away from the humans, and now things had changed tremedously, with Atlantis revealed itself among the waters and getting more attention than ever, and not to mention the curiosity of the Merfolk in general in regards to humans. Zale was indeed exciting, as the wave carried him off the surface of the sea and into the air to where he was told that the human was found.

With the wave's momentum gone by now, it was now held by Zale's ability, as he asked one of the fishfolk about the human and he led him to where she was being looked after, as he entered the door, with water splashing off his lovely wave onto the floor, before manipulating the water to form a chair which he could then sit on and relax, while his head tilted from side-to-side, looking at this strange creature. Certainly not like the humans he knew, seeing as the pirates had quite a few.

Not wishing to disturb her rest, Zale remained silent as he looked at her from the foot of the bed. Once she awoke, seeing that she was a female (clearly!), he'd be able to ask questions, seeing if she travelled alone or not for starters.

Keeping one's cool was easy for one who was always in cool waters. Perhaps that is the reason why the merfolk are a patient people, as Zale sat on his created water throne, awaiting for the human girl to wake up. If his mother was here, she would no doubt be to her side rather than at the bottom of her bed, and making sure was well, but then again, he did not wish to alarm her, and so he decided to keep his distance.

He surely did find her interesting, as did the rest of the merfolk with humans. His time for waiting soon came to an end, as the poor human girl began to cough. Being a merman however, he had limited movement on land, and being a man anyway, the last thing the poor girl would want is him fussing all over her, and speaking would only alarm her, which didn't mix well while coughing either.

Once she had recovered, well from the sounds of it anyway, her eyes then met his bright blue ones, "Hi there. Um...were you going to rape me?". Humans were indeed the most fascinating of creatures other than the merfolk themselves. They sure come out with some crazy stuff, and this one was even more odder than the rest by the clothing that she had upon her person.

"I would never do such a thing", he begun as he stressed the "never" part. Afterall, it wasn't in his nature, and why would she think such a thing for him, a merman, and the fact he was seated on a chair and not her. Though thinking about it, he was weary about the pirates and how they'd respond to her, "..nor do I allow it", he continued, passing over the image of authority, in hopes that she wouldn't be shaken so much.

"I apologise for startling you...because you see, I'm quite interested in humans, and so are the rest of my people. Please don't take it the wrong way", as he closed the lids on his bright blue eyes at a whim and breathing in, as the water chair lifted up with the legs now longer, so that she could see his bright blue tail, while hoping it would explain his actions.

"I'm sorry if I seem....fishy....to you", as his smile appeared from all the seriousness, hoping to liven the mood and crack a joke if he could, "But is there anything I can get you? A drink perhaps? for your throat?". His tone turned softer, as he waited to see if there was anything that he could do to settle her, before asking more about her.

Zale thought that if the young lady knew where he stood, his position, what he was, then things would settle down, but it went completely the opposite. Surely the language he used and the fact the chair looked like a throne would tell her that he was in a position of high authority, not to mention referring to "his people". Instead she didn't say a word and didn't calm down as she screamed, the high-pitched scream going right through him and the walls, to the city beyond. He lifted his right hand and hid his eyes behind it. Despite trying to calm her down, he ended up making it worse, since a scream was a sign that she was afraid, and it would be those outside who would think it had to do with him since he was the only one in there. As expected, one of the fishfolk outside entered to see if everything was alright. Fishfolk looked like humans, except that they had gills so that they could breathe underwater and become accustomed to life in the sea. He wasn't too sure how they turned out in such a way, but he did know there was a weed that could be eaten to give gills temporarily, which fade away when not near the sea, and once they do, they do not return. Turning to the fiskfolk, he then spoke, raising the tone a little so he could be heard over the scream, "I shall retire momentarily. For now, be on alert for those pirates. Make sure they don't come near", as the fishfolk bowed and then left.

Now what was left to do was deal with the screaming human, as he sighed, moving his left hand to the side of his water chair, and lifting his thumb, middle finger and little finger at an angle, as water lifted into the air through his thumb and fingers, springing up from the arm of the chair, and landed one part on her forehead, seeing as when you scream, you cringle and your forehead goes red, and the two other streams landed on each side of her cheek, since they also tend to go red. Simply cooling her off, before his hand pulled away from the chair's arm, and he moved himself with the chair to her side, raising his hand as the water then pulled off her face and returned to his hand. If he wished to harm her or scare her, he would of done so already. He touched the side of her face gently with the back of his hand, before addressing her, seeing as things weren't going so well, "Now, if you are quite finished, I shall introduce myself. I am Zale, and this, is Atlantis. I know not from where you come from, but I shall not pry. What I will tell you, is that your screaming must of alerted our resident pirates who live here on the surface, and like all races, there are those who conform, and there are those who rebel", as he pulled back his hand. If his mere presence startled her, what more harm would it do, to tell her he was a Prince aswell. Probably a little too much information when she needed to rest.

As far as prying was concerned, it was totally the opposite, since he found the young lady interesting and did wish to find out more, since she didn't look like other humans he had seen. Then again, he hadn't spent a great deal of time round them since he had been following his father and learning what it taked to rule the Kingdom as he continued to grow older. It was one thing to say he was a Prince, but the fact he was next in line was a bit overwhelming. Infact, it was overwhelming, even to him, but so was the beauty of Atlantis. It was why he and his father strove to keep Atlantis peaceful like the waves that enveloped them, and why he sought to make sure that her screaming would not disturb the peace. "I shall take my leave of you and allow you to rest. You will be safe here, and should you seek me, simply ask one of the fishfolk or come to the waters' edge and call for me", as he then turned to leave. He'd only stay if requested, but even if he left now, he would surely be back and keep an eye on her, especially if any trouble erupts with any rebel pirates who wish to add humans to their stock.
