Xylose is a member of the Undying, a race of undead beings who cannot be killed or destroyed.

To be undying is to be entirely and utterly mortal, save for one crucial facet of anatomy: Regeneration. The Undying Heal at the normal rate as others, but where others have a limit to how much they can be healed, the undying do not. Severed limbs will, eventually, regenerate. Even if their heads are severed, the undying can be revived if the head is returned to the body or, failing that, if they are given enough time to regrow an entirely new body.

Xylose is by all accounts the very first of the undying. He is also the only one of the ten heroes who saved Shalcora ages past to have returned from beyond The Pale. He alone knows the truth of what happened on that last fateful mission to save their world.


Xylose is commonly seen wearing his old military uniform, a relic from an ancient civilization, with medals and marks of honor that none today recognize. His dress is grey, starched pants with a pouch hanging from a chain looped over his right leg, and a messenger pouch on the left. A tunic, likewise in grey, is belted at his waist. A split tailed jacket is worn over his other clothes, and this is banded at the waist, with the arms cut off to grant greater freedom to his movement. The pitch black of this jacket contrasts sharply with the pale, near snow white of his face and eyes, with their silver and shining irises. His platinum blond hair is long, bound into a tight ponytail behind his head, and his short stubble beard grays the otherwise frozen tundra of his features.
