Personality: In his youth Alatar was a boy of ambition and dreams. He wanted to be like the great heroes of old uniting all the lands and guarding them as a true hero, but as he got older and began putting his plans into action his views slowly changed. He does his best to keep his empire strong both inside and out, but the rebels seem keen on making that difficult, and so there is few people he hats more than low born dirty rebels. He no longer cares how they are purged as long as they are which has lead to many cruel acts by his men.

From assassination attempts, he has become suspicious of many and it helped lead to the formation of his Blackguard, who in 2 years have spoiled over 7 assassination attempts. He sees the peasants of his lands of fools and ignorant low-breeds who dont understand what he does for them. If they just obeyed him the world would be a better place but they are too stuck in themselves to see his glorious solutions. Perhaps the only person he ever loved was Brissa who he loved as a daughter, although she only calls him uncle something that infuriates him. She is his heir, so she must understand what and why things are done.

Background: Alatar was raised in a small village as the son of a blacksmith. At the time much of the land was divided into small towns and villages who would sometimes raid each-other for supplies, but that was unimportant for Alatar was in love. At 16 he married the daughter of the baker, the most beautiful women in his village. Their marriage went wonderfully for 2 years with a baby that was expected to be due in the spring, but thats when a large neighboring town invaded the village killing many including his wife and unborn child.

It was here that Alatars world changed. Some say it was here that he snapped, but who truly knows? Gather the remainder of the men, he attacked and sacked the town. It wasnt here that he ended. He brought the town under his heel and recruited what men the town had left after his men had stopped killing and continued making village after village fall and his own army grow. He had a new goal in life. He would stop the carnage and war by bringing them all under heel underneath him. A noble idea.

As he conquered his heart hardened, and he became more brutal to send a message to all resisting towns and villages. IF you fight him all of your people die. It was on one of these extermination missions that he meet Brissa. She came walking out of the burning town holding a small ripped doll and a blanket dragging behind her. His men stepped forth to kill her, but he stopped them.. She looked so much like a young version of his wife that he could not bear to see her killed, so he took her with him to raise her as the child that was taken from him so long ago.

In the last decade or so, he has stopped expanding, having moved back to his fortress to solidify his power at home. Of course, his hard efforts have been rewarded by dirty rebels that no how many times he crushes come back like insects.

Appearance: Alatar has a soft gray goatee that he keeps well groomed and taken care of. He has long shoulder length brown hair with silver streaks that he keeps combed back giving him a regal and powerful appearance. He is not the tallest standing at 5'10 but he is muscular from his years of conquest, his right arm being far larger than his left due to his background as a blacksmith. His nose in long an slightly curved giving him an almost hawkish appearance.
