Calder Mor

Captain of the Sea Breeze

0 · 307 views · located in Aresia

a character in “Shipwrecked”, as played by Irish Wolf

Description

Calder is a good Ulsttorish man, being nearly six feet in height and a sturdy build from his years at sea. His skin has lost the normal fairness his countrymen have, replaced by a good tan and looks a little weathered. His hair is a dark, nutty brown in color, grown longish and tied back with a single black ribbon. His beard is trimmed short and matched his hair in color. Bright blue eyes twinkle around a short, slightly down curved nose. His hands are callused, from a youth spend scrambling up into the rigging or hauling on the lines with the rest of the crew and most of his adult life handling the helm of his ship.

Captain Mor is a practical man. When his ship is out at sea, he dons wide legged trousers, a white shirt and his blue waistcoat. When he comes into port, he wears the more fashionable breeches, long stockings, shirt, waistcoat and frock. he has a hatred of lace though and will demand that his tailors remove any of the stuff from the cloths he buys. Not a day goes by, when Mor isn't seen wearing his black tricorn.

Personality

Calder is a generally cheerful fellow, with a good head for numbers and as close to an honest merchant as you can get. He's not afraid to fight but knows the limits of his ship and crew and when he needs to run. More then one pirate was been surprised when his ship doesn't heave to at the sight of them.

Equipment

As the owner of the Sea Breeze, Calder can take anything he wants from the ship stores or it's weapon locker. he does keep a fine cutlass and a pair of flintlock pistols in his cabin however.

History

Calder was born the son of a Ulsttorish merchantman, growing up in the port city of Blackpool, on the eastern coast of Ulsttor. When he was twelve years old, his father took him aboard the Sea Breeze, to serve as a cabin boy. He spend four years working in the galley, carrying food to the sailors, waiting on the officers and passengers, learning about the sails, lines and ropes, climbing into the rigging to trim sails and standing watches. When he was sixteen, his father made him one of the crew and taught young Calder his letters (when he wasn't on duty). Until he was twenty eight, he served aboard the ship and when they were in port, he would accompany his father, learning the family trade. When his twenty-eighth birthday came around, he was made third mate. Within four years, he was the second mate (the man before him had gotten drunk and fallen overboard during the night).

When he was thirty-five, his father took ill and died, leaving the Sea Breeze to his son. Calder became captain of his own ship. For the past three years, his mother has been pestering him to get married, to the daughter of her acquittance, Ms. Ross. While thinking of marriage and children already, he's not really interested in Miss Ross and has yet to send his mother a letter telling her of this. He has find his own bride, one that didn't think it was funny to put ink in his tea when they were children.

So begins...
