Sacura followed AUGER closely while Teisha and S-9 stayed stayed back a little to guard the rear. Not that anyone came inside the Castel del Santangelo anymore, but it was always good to at least appear prudent. Not to mention that anyone would did come through that door would probablu be there for some sort of assassination. Sacura looked nothing like she had a time ago, and looking up at Voltome, he didn't either. He had aged considerably, his long hair turned a feeble gray color from the majestic black it had once been. Sacura had always thought of him negatively, but back in the day, Voltome was a man to be respected and feared. Nowadays, he was just another aged senator. Maybe that was why he had gotten involved with Humans First.

The senator looked down at the android quietly. One could faintly sense how he had once been a powerful man, but now he was worn down. Lines creased his face as he crinkled his brow in thought. He replied to AUGER, "Greetings. I would be interested in hearing your proposal."

Gabe put a spoon in the food and the brought some to his patient's mouth. He answered her, "I am a mercenary and a former member of Humans First."

AUGER was not surprised to see the Senator in this state. He frequented the Senate on appeals for REAP, so he had the time to know most members, including Voltome, to some degree. As such, he knew that Voltome still had some power, and he would probably try to use it to leave some type of lasting legacy in the Galaxy. A just hoped he'd choose to do the right thing.

Voltome looked on at them from above, staying near the balcony. He did seem to be somewhat more tired today, and it was hard to tell how he felt exactly by this arrangement. Greetings. I would be interested in hearing your proposal. Well, at least he's willing to listen, thought AUGER. "Mr. Senator, I know you have some powerful connections all around Earth. I was hoping we could perform an exchange of favors." AUGER spoke to Voltome as if he were still in his prime; though, he knew, it would probably backfire on them int he future to take a favor. But persuasion was persuasion after all. "I wish to know the location of the Humans First headquarters on Earth. It would be in the best interests of REAP to know this, in order to reduce the risk of retaliation by Humans First members should we decide to expand on Earth. I realize I am not the type of man who could gain such information first-hand, so I would owe a lot to you if you could find out for us."

He spoke lightly in a typical REAP manner, hiding their true intentions behind the mask of business. He still had to gauge Voltome's willingness to help. No doubt he would be able to perceive that his stated purpose was not entirely true (although destroying the base would reduce the risk of attack), AUGER could always feign ignorance and walk away peacefully, but with both knowing they were on opposite sides of the equation. Then again, he may appear compliant on the surface while he was actually leading them into a trap. As an additional precaution, he tried to hide the fact that he knew Voltome was conencted directly to the HF in some way. He was sure, though, that Voltome's reaction would reveal all.

Laryn glared down at the comm awaiting a reply. Eventually giving up and looking at the other members of the group. "Well, guess we're on our own for now. Name of the game here is under the radar. Could cover more ground splitting up, but we could get in too deep too fast if we find something. We stay together. Now, let's see if we can pick anything up nearer to the heart of the city. If HF is here, it is a fair guess they have tie ins around in some of the businesses around. Although granted, there is little chance we'll get lucky."

With that Laryn shut up. Damn, Ko was rubbing off on him. He didn't need to say everything that crossed his mind. Eh, didn't matter. He led the group toward the direction of the business center of the city. Perhaps they could find an open cafe or something that would give them a good vantage point.

MAGNUS was kind of annoyed at being ignored (if a Navi could be annoyed) so it ran up to Laryn and tugged at his clothing some more.

"By the way," Elsa's voice sounded through MAGNUS, "if you need any tech support, give me a call. I'll be connected to you for this mission."

Voltome looked down at A. His gaze was strangely emotionless, except for a hint of sadness. Sacura had never liked the man, and she knew her father had always strongely disagreed with almost all of what Voltome stood for, but it was somehow depressing to see the once mighty man in this state. He just seemed like he had broken inside. He chuckled dryly before responding, "There is no need to beat around the bush here, Mr. AUGER. As you well know, I am very well connected in the organization that hates you all so much. In my youth, I agreed with them too, but once I tried to break free, the did all they could to keep me chained down. After all, a man in the government would be beyond useful to their schemes. I was just unlucky enough to be that man. So I have been forced to give orders from that accursed organization. I gave some orders to fight back, an now I fear that I have reached just about the end of my rope. The executioner is already preparing to drop the door had hang me on my own folly. And I am afraid to say that I have earned it. So, to answer your question Mr. AUGER, the Human's First base is located--"

A sound rang out over the old man's words. Shock flitted across his face momentarily before he crumpled in on himself. A window shattered the moment he went down, and Sacura cursed spectacularly before running up to the old man. There had been a gunman! Why in god's name had they not considered the possibility. She quickly radioed to S-9 and Teisha, "Guys, a gunman just shot Voltome and is on the run. Go after whoever the hell it was!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gabe sighed heavily at the reaction of his patient. Her brain must have been fried really bad. Pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation, he asked, "Tell me, do you remember anything about yourself?"

AUGER saw a faint glint on in the air a fraction of a second before the impact of the sniper round had any effect on Voltome. He was shocked for a second, confused as to what had just happened. And from the look on Voltome's face he felt the same, despite the fact that he'd been expecting a swift execution. The man stood still for a few second before collapsing to the ground. A knew it was impossible to stop the shot, or even to save the politician afterwards; the shooter would have to be a professional, and would have gotten a nice, clean headshot to silence him. Something strong, but not strong enough to cause his skull to explode like a melon. Still, the blood began to pool as Voltome's guards flooded into the room.

Several thoughts flitted through AUGER's electronic brain within the second it took him to react. Why did he have to die at the most inopportune time? Was the room bugged so they could kill him if he was treacherous? Was the killing actually contracted by HF, or was it just an routine political killing? Why did Voltome pick the room with the massive, unprotected window to meet if he was expecting to be killed? Too many things were unclear.

He turned quickly to Sacura, activating his comm as he did. "Sacura, follow S-9 and Teisha or contact Hyuga with an update. I'm going to stay here to help deal with this situation," he said, gesturing to the Senator's body. The guards had drawn weapons and were demanding an explanation, as though he had arranged this situation to provide the prefect time and place to have Voltome killed. "Just don't stay here. Something tells me if you were to be involved in even the slightest of scandals things would go downhill exponentially fast." Then A turned to the security forces to fill them in on the circumstances, with the help of the ones who'd witnessed the incident. This would be bad for PR if the news got out that REAP may have assassinated a senator known to associate with anti-Navi factions. Where was Jack's charisma when you needed it?

------------------------

Sentinel was alerted as soon as he heard a bang. It only took the radio message from Sacura to confirm his fears. He nodded to Teisha and shot out of the room. Meanwhile, AUGER was pumping data he collected from observing the glint of the bullet as well as visual data of the wound in Voltome's head and environmental data. As preventing or bringing justice to assassinations was part of his core programming, he was able to find out the trajectory of the sniper bullet with a relatively small error. By superimposing the bullet path on a three-dimensional model of the city, he was able to find the neighborhood from which the gun was fired. He just had to tap into recent police chatter in that area to determine that a loud bang was heard in the area, and that an armed person (of undetermined species and gender) was seen fleeing the scene. If he kept up with the reports, they would have a constantly updating location of the shooter. "Follow me!" he shouted to Teisha as he rushed out of the building.

Laryn tsked as he looked back down at his communicator. It was unlike the REAP team not to respond for so long. Laryn continued to sip his drink thoughtfully. They had found a cafe nearby the center of the business district, and he had decided to set up base there for now. Since they did not have a safe house yet, there was nowhere really to go. He leaned back slightly as he let his gaze linger on one businesswoman looking human buying coffee from a nearby stand as he leaned back against the wooden bench he sat on.

The woman shifted the corner of her eyes to Laryn as she scooped up her coffee and hustled away from him. Not that he could really blame her. He would kind of look suspicious sitting in this park, because after all, it was near the center of the major businesses in this section of Endro. Laryn let his gaze wander around as he watched businessmen and women flooding the park. As they flooded the stands selling coffee and quick lunches, so people could get back to their positions in their offices. After all, they didn't want to lose time to their Navi counterparts who had the added benefits of not needing to eat.

He looked out of the corner of his eye as a man sat down next to him. Opening his photon-pad, scanning his mail and whatnot. Laryn looked over his shoulder as the man became engrossed in his news.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Damnit he hated waiting. They needed to find HF here. But how? They wouldn't exactly be listed as a business. They may operate out of the back door of a business, but to uncover that normally... they would need way too much time. And they didn't even have Tei here, who would speed up the process. They couldn't attack this by conventional means. They had to make some... unconventional move that would force HF to move, or they had to get lucky. They had to get the information first, or be able to predict the reaction.

He could get in touch with a contact on Endro here if necessary as well... But that would take more time than he would like. This investigation had to be fast. HF wasn't stupid. If Voltome was a fall guy or a legit connection, then they would know somebody was snooping. They would become more aware of probes and more likely to react. They ad to take this out in a decisive stroke. But bloody how? It was god damn impossible with the situation right now... They had to have somewhere they could get information from.

He nearly laughed out loud as he stood up from his seat, walking to the exit of the park. There was one sure place he could go. One place that was here that he knew would have no corruption from HF and would never tip them off. He deposited the last of his trash into a dump as he quickened his pace out of the park.

REAP themselves. REAP would not have connections to HF, Jack would never stand for it. And they may well have a cache of information about HF as well, especially on their home planet. He had thought of this earlier, but he had been hesitant. Why would REAP trust him? Now the answer seemed simple. If they don't let you in, break in. REAP would be a digital fortress, but it may not be impossible. But that would definitely be a last resort. Jack had been gone for a long time. And if he could get on the damned communicator with S-9 then he could get conformation about the REAP building.

It was a longshot, but it was the most discreet route they had. He booted up his communicator.

"Ko. Aim. Call in. Come back to west exit. No point in running any more surveilance. If we were detected coming here, they must have lost us. You would have seen them by now. Come on back."

There was a moment of silence and ten he heard a reply from Kofleur "What are you up to Laryn? I can tell when you are getting excited."

"Damn her" he smiled under his breath off of the communicator. She could always read him too well. She had been around him the longest though, guess it was natural for someone who worked like them. "He smiled as he parted the crowd of business suits rushing back to their offices. "We're heading to REAP"

Gabriel pondered to herself. "Well... I have a mum and a dad... my mum had a beard and my dad wore his hair in a ponytail... I had a little brother with an incredibly high pitched voice... My house... can't remember, it's been a while, probably. Oh yeah, and I had a friend... and my name is... Gabriel Daniels... is that okay?"

Sacura nodded to A. She decided to do both of the things he had suggested, however. No reason one should interfere with the other. She took off running to catch up with Tei and S-9, quickly pulling out her communicator. "Hyuga!" she yelled into the thing, "We have a situation developing on Earth. Senator Voltome is dead, and we really don't know much of who did or why or even most of the how. Do you have anything that you know but aren't telling?"

Hyuga responded after a moment. "I don't have anything on this. I would assume it is the work of HF, but it could be the work of a political rival or some other organization that has it in him. I will begin searching for anything relevant. I will call back if we find something."

After that blunt dismissal, Sacura shoved her comm back in her bags and took off at top speed. She could see the man they were chasing getting progressively closer. Suddenly, in an abandond area, he turned around to face them. Sacura's hackles instantly rose and the figure said, "Well well, it has been a long time, princess. Two years, in fact." She snarled, looking at the traitor to the imperial family. "Kain..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gabe blinked at her recollection. Huh. Well then. She was good and fried. He could only hope it wasn't permanent. Then again, maybe it was better if it was, considering what Gabe had done to that base... He looked down at her momentarily before responding, "If that is all you can remember, that is fine. Somehow though, I don't think that your mother had a beard. And Gabriel Daniels... Interesting. I am also a Gabriel. That is... rather ironic. Now, we have to get off this planet. Can you trust me?"

Teisha began taking an extraordinary interest in the hanging tapestries in the Castello as soon as Voltome began talking. Stupid politician. HE would lie to their face if he thought it would benefit himself. In her more cynical days, she thought all humans were like that. Ironically, the idea that broke her from that train of thoughts was the abrupt realization that sometimes Beasts could be just as bad. But that, that was past. She was over that, she figured.

Continuing to ignore anything that was really important, began scanning down the grandiose tapestry that hung to her side. It was a battle, when, she didn't know. But it was all humans, which put it before the experiments with Doctor Nam. It looked to be chronicling one of the first battles that had photon weapons. On one side, men wielding large re-enforced shields charged with photon handheld weapons against a fleeing battalion of men armed with primitive rifles, that used explosions to carry their cartridges. And later down the tapestry, the men with the new photon weapons reached the other primitive soldiers, leaving the battlefield covered in blood, and that is how the tapestry ended, in a sea of crimson.

Then a sound rang through the room. Teisha's eys darted around. Cura was up, A was up, S-9 was up.

Voltome was down.

Their informant had been shot. This would cause a scandal! Was HF that insane, or had Silver really pushed then that far!? It really didn't matter at this point. They were in danger. A barked out to have the three of them chase the shooter. Tei hesitated a second before bolting after Cura and S-9, who gave them directions to where the shooter should be. A should be alright, she thought to herself as they began to run. It would go against common intuition and against common practice for the sniper to stay there after taking a shot into a room with witnesses. A wouldn't be in danger. And he wouldn't want to waste a shot on an android either, which, as far as he knew, could be rebuilt.

Tei bolted around the hallways of the Castello, really chasing Cura more than the shadow that they were chasing right now. Cura was certainly not slowing down any to wait for them. But Tei couldn't really blame her for that. Their lead had just been shot, and their only new one was running away. They couldn't afford to leave here empty-handed. suddenly Cura jerked to a halt, and Tei skidded to a halt beside her. The man they had been chasing now stood in front of them, a million things running through her head. Not the least of which screamed...

DANGER

This could be a trap easily. Or this man could be overconfident. He could have an escape route from here. Maybe this was his planned exfil, after shooting Voltome, regardless whether they were there or not.

The man hissed a few words to Cura and Tei watched her friend's face tighten in anger as she muttered one word back. "Kain..."

Kain? Teisha had never met this man, nor heard Cura talk about him. But any idiot reading the mood could tell they were NOT on good terms. And he had called her "Princess". So this man knew her in those days?

Who was this man? And why did he give of such a dangerous presence, Teisha thought. She flexed her fingers slightly, getting ready to bare her claws at any moment.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laryn met up with Kofleur and Amy at the exit of the park which they had based themselves at, and he began walking wordlessly. REAP HQ wasn't that far away, so they really shouldn't be discussing this in either an open space or anywhere nearby. It was too much for a paranoid planner to take. And while Laryn wasn't a paranoid planner, he knew that paranoid was one of the better traits that a mastermind could have at times. They had to get to a safe spot. Somewhere nearby that would seclude them at least somewhat. A bar wouldn't work. And they were in the business district. There wouldn't be any houses or hotels around here.

So where could they get somewhere that would be completely private?

Laryn smiled to himself thinking of the perfect place, and he glanced back to his companions, assessing the viability of his idea. Satisfied he led them off away from REAP headquarters.

Really, getting away from REAP HQ wasn't the idea here. He just wanted to get into less of the massive HQ part of the downtown. Which shouldn't be that long of a walk. With any luck, he would find the business he wanted very quickly. But he didn't have high hopes for that, as they weren't exactly extremely common.

He walked around a bit more in the, shock of all shocks, part of downtown that MOST people their age would be in. Trying to look the part of just an ordinary kid in the shooping district Laryn looked around and finally led the two girls into what he had been looking for.

Karaoke.

It was the only place which multiple people routinely got soundproof rooms... other than certain other hotels. But there was no way in hell that would be a better idea than this. He walked up to the counter, giving the girl behind the counter a smile and proceeded to but the room for a half of an hour. Which should give them enough time to get a basic plan down or get and copy the shit ton of codes that S-9 or A would need to give them to prove clearance.

So, with the room secure, he led the girls in and closed them off.

"Oh, Laryn. I don't know. I can never sing that well. I'm sorry, I lied when I always bragged about my singing voice!" Kofleur said before he could even open his mouth. Laryn glared at her, knowing that she didn't really mean it. "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought we would come here to test my theory that your voice could break glass, and we could use that as a point of entry into REAP HQ." he retorted dryly.

He then continued. "Alright. We have a half of an hour. First, let's try contacting A and S-9 and see..." At that moment traffic came over the comms. Senator Voltome was dead. Laryn stood there for a second, assessing the consequences of this and the possible motivations for killing the Senator. They really didn't know enough at this time, but it was certainly a piece to file away at this time.

After the brief hesitation processing this, Laryn continued, "... see if they have the time to give us codes to prove clearance to access their full databases. This way, we could guarantee getting information out of this trip on HF. Ko, honors?" he asked at the end.

Kofleur nodded and activated her comm. "Who is monitoring the body? If S-9 or A we need to ask for clearance codes for REAP HQ. Figure they will have information on the whereabouts of HF and their activities, over."

AUGER watched as Voltome was lifted from his uncomfortable looking position on the floor and placed on a levitating stretcher for transportation. A police station was just down the road (and, apparently, alerted ahead of time that something may happen at the Castello), so a coroner and some detectives were able to arrive quite swiftly to clean up the mess as soon as they finished taking holographic scans and getting information from the witnesses. Local journalists were already clamoring around the ground floor of the Castello, attempting to harvest what info they could. He was going to go under temporary custody of the investigators until federal agents of the Empire showed up. He would have to work with them to clear all traces of guilt from Silverose and REAP. But until they arrived he would just be here, waiting.

He was quick to respond to Laryn's request. "I'm on it," he said through his internal communicator. "I'm sending you a mass file of security codes for the doors inside the main building. It's a lot, though, and the information will expire in half an hour so you better copy it down. I'm also remotely programming your communicators to function as temporary guest passes to the headquarters. Those will let you into any room on the first floor of the building, and you'll have an excuse if you run into any employees. That's what I can grant to anyone. The stuff after is where it gets tricky."

"You'll need to go to the central conference room on the third floor. It should be empty for the rest of the day. My secretary Sasha will be waiting there for you. She can be trusted. She'll tell you everything you need to do after that; the rest is too confidential to discuss over communicator. Any questions?"
--------------------------

Sentinel would've spit if he could. Kain's name was one he had hated for two years, and while he did not admit it, he was the reason S-9 had become a mercenary. He'd hoped to meet him in his travels and put an end to him. But now more important matters were at hand. "Well well, what have we here? The traitor to both duty and blood doing his best to soil whatever goodness he has left to his name? Give me one good reason I shouldn't burn a hole through your skull right now."

Sentinel meant it, too. There was nothing he hated more than a traitor, especially when it put everything he was built for at stake. It took every ounce of self-control in his Navi brain to stop himself from firing his pistol. Still, he was interested to hear what Kain had to say. Would it be a taunt? A plea for mercy? Or perhaps this was all a trap, and something horrible was about to happen. No matter. He had to protect the princess, even if it meant preventing himself from doing the decent thing by putting down this wretched dog where he stood.

Elsa Meyer suddenly blinked. "Hey, um... Professor Hyuga?" she asked from her terminal. "I'm sorry but I think I zoned out or something and it feels like it's been ages. I know it sounds weird, but... well, can you remind me what we're doing again, please?"

Amy followed Laryn and Kofluer into the Karaoke place. She had to admit, it was a great place to have a private conversation. Whenever Sil had wanted to do that, they would just tell her to climb in the car and they would go for a ride to talk. When they didn't have a car at their disposal, Sil would take her to the most crowded place he could find nearby where they would talk with the cover of the natural noises of the crowds. But a soundproof room with just the three of them was even better, since there was almost zero chance of them ever being overheard, unless the owners had all the rooms bugged for some reason. Laryn asked A for access to REAPs stuff over the comm link, and A responded quickly. He did what he could. They were allowed on the first floor. They needed to go to the third. This meant some sneaking. She wished momentarily that one of the other beasts were here. A bunny or a house cat could get through vents and stuff to let them through. Amy, however, could only turn into wild canines and felines. "Hmm..." Amy thought out loud now, "If we need to get to the third floor, I suppose I could turn into linx. I am pretty sure that is the smallest animal I can become, but I have no idea if that will fit through the vents. Would the workers escort us out if we are caught on any other floor? Hmm..." Her eyes wandered momentarily before settling on the machine in the room. She turned to Laryn and said, "Well, um... Since we are here... Do you think I could...?" She pointed to the karaoke machine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sacura was snarling at the traitor before her. The man smiled, a serene and somehow bloody smile. Sacura's enhanced senses could smell things coming off him, smells she just could not identify. They made her blood simultaneously boil and turn to ice. There was something wrong with those smells, although she could not identify exactly it was. She growled at Kain to ask, "Why the hell are you here?"

"Me?" Kain responded with faint amusement. "Nothing. Just tying up some loose ends."

Sacura snapped back, "Is that all Voltome was, a loose end?"

"Indeed. All he did was provide funding. My men should never have told him as much as they did. They are no longer a problem, either."

"Told him as much what?" Sacura demanded forcefully.

"Oh, my, you don't really want to spoil the surprise, do you? That wouldn't be any fun. I'll give you a hint, I guess; hope you are ready to see and old friend. In a day's time, it will be ready for a small trial, and you will see exactly what I mean. Now, I must be going."

Before Sacura could even respond, Kain literally faded to nothingness. Had that been a hologram? Wait, it couldn't of been! Sacura had smelled it! It had to have been there. She cursed quietly, saying, "I guess he got away this time."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gabe looked down at the patient and sighed. "Well, I guess we can stay here. If you like bullet holes and all. I am afraid I might have pissed some people off before I rescued you, and now that you have been with me, they will target you too."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hyuga responded slowly. "We are here to provide tactical assistance for our groundtroops on the different planets. Of course, they are very independent, so that doesn't always leave us here much to do, but when they need us, it will be important. After all, didn't you just listen to what came over Sacura's comm? Things will get crazy tomorrow, so go ahead and sleep for a bit so you and Nick will be in best condition."

Teisha watched as the figure in front of the pair impossibly vanished. VANISHED!? A hologram cannot make a shot, could there have been a switch somewhere? How?

Well, it wasn't the worst thought that had gone through her mind. There was no ambush and there was no imminent threat to them now, although this meeting had apparently ratted Cura. She was bristling now, and Tei was worried about this. They were still on Earth, so caution would be advised. So Teisha swallowed her questions about Kain, and instead put her hand on Cura's shoulder. "Come on Cura." She said softly, "Let's rendezvous with S-9 for now. It doesn't look like there is anything more we can do here."

Laryn raised his eyebrows at the hopeful Amy. "So what is our plan right now? Wing it? Because we can't rely on the Lynx strategy for now, it seems too noisy. But it could be a backup." Laryn sat down and began browsing the information A sent to him. Well, obviously I can learn just about shit all from this info. So we have no choice here. And yeah, unless we can swipe a pass from someone, or get access to the main desk to get some other passes, we will be screwed on the other floors. So we should probably make a round of the first floor, where we have access before attempting to head on up. Who knows, we may find something promising to create a distraction or whatnot."

Laryn shut up then, still looking intently at the data A had sent him. Soon, he was satisfied and sighed as he shut it off. He glanced at his clock and sighed. "We still have some time, do what you want with it in here. Just don't make my eardrums bleed"

S-9 processed the situation quickly after Kain vanished. The fact that he had performed the assassination proved that he was actually there, and yet he managed to seemingly dissipate into nothingness in front of them. This left few possibilities for what occurred:
a) Kain had managed to sneak out of the area, leaving behind a hologram to mislead them and leave his message,
b) He had managed to obtain revolutionary technology that allowed someone to teleport from anywhere at will, or
c) He possessed advanced cloaking technology that could blind all of his sensors.
There were other possibilities, but he decided to mentally list the 3 he thought of as most probable. In any case, he let loose a few bolts from his pistol into the air Kain had been inhabiting. When nothing resulted of this, he sighed and turned to the others.

"Something bad's going down pretty soon. I'll inform the others." He activated his comm, opening it to all Silverose agents. "We found our assassin. It was Kain, the bastard. From what I can gather things are going to go to hell here on Earth tomorrow. Hyuga, if you can gather any intel that can help us find out how to prevent or stop whatever the hell they're planning it would be much appreciated. A, anything on your side?"

AUGER was quick to respond to the message. "I've been stuck at the local police station, exchanging questions. I should be out shortly. My leads here have run dry. Seems like we need more information before we can decide on the optimal rendezvous point, so keep me posted on your destination and I will meet you there."

Elsa nodded. "Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll have something to eat and then I'll head to bed. Bye Doc." She rose and went off to do what she said she was going to do.

Gabriel pouted. "Well, fine then. But I'll want to hear about what you did later."

Hyuga responded to S-9 through the comm. "I will start looking for information immediately, but I doubt that we will be able to discover exactly what is going on before tomorrow, so I am sending back-up. Nick, do you think you could get one of your CHEsuits ready to back up the squad on Earth? I assume that you are the only pilot able to use them, so we need to get you there ASAP."

Sacura nodded to herself before starting to run off. She called over her shoulder Teisha, "I am going to see if I can gt my friends in the city to do a little bit of research. If nothing else, it will be nice to see Leo again, and we could see if he has any info on Sil while I am at it. If bad things are going to happen, I just have that feeling that he is getting ready to show. You should get any of Laryn's other contacts in the city if you can. Then we can meet up at the hotel nearest the capitol building. After all, that is where we were supposed to go tomorrow anyway."

Amy beamed when Laryn said not to blow his ears out. She responded, "Hey, I'm actually not bad at singing! I'll just have to prove it! Random song chooser, go!" With that, she allowed the machine to choose some song from the internal list. It chose a positively ancient song, but that was part of the fun. It apparently had dance moves to go with it, so she watched the screen to see what they were, then waited for the song to start. She started her dances, waited through the intro, and started singing (not to poorly, either), "Nazo nazo, mitai ni..."

Gabe felt his eye almost twitch at the pout his patient tried to pull off. She had no memories, or very few, at the moment and was more interested in what he had done? Okay... Sighing, Gabe told her, "Fine, I will tell you what happened once we get off this hellhole of a planet and we are perfectly safe and in good health. Now, can you stand, or do you need my help?"

S-9 couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy. He closed his comm to a private line with Hyuga, and double-checked the security of the channel. "Are you sure it's smart to have most of our forces concentrated on one planet? I mean, sure, our enemies have always seemed to announce their intentions in some convoluted sense of self confidence, but isn't there a chance Kain could be setting us up for a trap? Deception does seem to be his element..."

As he transmitted this message, he was also speaking to Teisha. "Sacura's got the idea. Go see if you can rustle up some friends for tomorrow. I'll start making preparations in case things turn sour." He tipped his hat to her before darting away. He had several ideas of what to do, namely to meet with some of the contacts he'd restored at the royal palace over the past few years. Once a satisfactory defensive position was formed he could focus on a counterattack...
