"The snakes await their mother..."

0 · 387 views · located in Friergate City

a character in “Sinner's Circus”, as played by DeathScythe386

Description

Image
"HAHAHAHA! You will never make it in the face of the Count!"

Name: Erebus Apollyon
"Refer to me as the Count Erebus, fool!"

Age: Unknown- Appears 19
"Gah, my old form was much more monstrous!"

Gender: Male
"Shall I devour your useless eyes?"

Theme Song (Optional):

Image

Side (Circus/Synchronicity):
"Why should I be a do-gooder when I can join the bloodier side of the fight?!"

Role: Gluttony
"Bet you didn't see that, huh?!"

Personality: "I am the Count, and you will not refer to me with anything other than that!" Erebus is...well, insane. As he is Gluttony, he has a desire to devour things- No, he doesn't just devour food, he literally tries to devour anything in sight unless Alistair tells him not to. But aside from that, Erebus thinks of himself as a vampire of sorts- Yes he drinks blood- and loves referring to himself as Count Erebus.

Strangely enough, Erebus is very loyal to Circus and to Alistair- although he has a habit of going off on his own when he's not being kept in the lower dungeons of the Sky Castle. All in all, Erebus is...an insane, merciless, and awful monster.

Appearance: "Fear my monstrous form!" Erebus stands at 6"7. He has black hair usually tied up into a messy ponytail, and gleaming yellow eyes that flash red when he goes berserk in the middle of a fight. Under his right eye, he has a strange circle design, and they are the same color as his eyes. Around his neck, he wears a black, scarf-like collar with a yellow arrow on the right side. He wears a gray shirt, with the sleeve on the left reaching the half of his arm while the other barely extends past his shoulder. The neck has a deep, rounded neckline and round cuts at the sides, which reveal the long-sleeved black shirt he wears underneath. He wears dark trousers that are stuffed into his grey boots. As accessories, he's most frequently shown wearing yellow headphones that have two stripes.

Image

History:
Erebus is probably a cheat of sorts. He was originally the First Gluttony- But he was slain in battle by the First Diligence. He died alongside the First Pride, where Alistair came to claim the leftover powers of his Entity. There, Alistair found his soul, and took it, retreating into the Sky Castle. His soul was kept in Lionel's Vault, letting the Second War pass before Alistair reclaimed it. With the help of the shadows provided by the Third Envy, Serpent, Alistair crafted a new vessel for Erebus. But the vessel took a long time to make, and as such, he was being crafted inside the lower dungeons of the Sky Castle. Once he was fully revived, Erebus swore his loyalty to the Circus and to Alistair, and as of now, he has no real enemy- Every member of Synchronicity is his enemy.

Most of the time, he is found in the dungeons, laughing to himself and feeding on whatever Alistair decides to throw into his cell. However, as Synchronicity approaches and the Virtues, past and present have started to appear and pop up from everywhere, it seems that Erebus has to be released soon...

Insignia (Sin/Virtue only): It seems that Erebus's insignia is actually the two circles underneath his right eye. Anyone who becomes his Catalyst has it somewhere on their body.

Weapons/Abilities:
Erebus is one of the main, heavy-hitters of the Circus as of the present. He doesn't usually need any kind of weapon, except his handgun.

Browning Hi-Power SFS Crimson Trace - Erebus uses a Browning Hi-Power firearm as a weapon. It features an adjustable rear sight and its single-action trigger ensures better control, leading to a faster draw and accuracy rating. There is a tradeoff in reload time but, he usually just empties it to provide a distraction as he closes in on an opponent. Nevertheless, the two types of bullets he carries are also enhanced to deal damage to Entities. For damage and long-range purposes, he arms it with 9X19mm Parabellum cartridges with an effective range of more than 50 meters. For stopping purposes, he arms it with .40 S&W instead. It can carry ten rounds of the .40 cartridges and 13 rounds of the 9X19 Parabellum.

Raw Strength - Erebus, again, is a powerful man. As he is artificial and does not use a human body, Erebus has almost-superhuman strength- He can easily tear doors off of their hinges, rip poles out of the ground and the like. However, he only uses his raw strength whenever he has to brawl, which is something he does all the time. He restricts himself from performing superhuman feats in public- "They're too troublesome," he claims.

Defensive Shell - Again, because Erebus is made from the shadows of a Sin with the purpose of tanking, he has a very tough outer shell. Enhanced bullets don't have that much of an effect on him- like Izumi's enhanced weapons-, Rin's pistols have no effect on him at all, but her sniper can damage him, and Leona's arrows can scar him a bit. However, again, his shadows come into play as he regenerates his wounds afterwards. However, mentally he's not that strong.

Snake Familiars - Since he was made from Serpent's shadows, he has the ability to create familiars shaped like snakes that can be used for offensive purposes or simply for scouting. Despite being the creator of the familiars, the moment Serpent steps in, the snakes rush to her immediately. Because of this Erebus finds himself having to create familiars for Serpent- And he frequently teases her about it.

Trivia (Optional):
  • Erebus is most usually found talking with Serpent in his free time if she's not patrolling.
  • Because of his wild tendencies, Alistair keeps him in a straitjacket in the lower dungeons of the Castle.
  • In the lower dungeons, to keep him occupied, the Sins usually leave him food or a few gadgets so that he will quiet down.
  • His face claim is Dark Konoha/Snake of Clearing Eyes/Kuroha from Kagerou Project.

So begins...

"Yes, I'm very much alright, thanks for asking. I merely thought that sleeping in such a beautiful park like this was better compared to sleeping within the cold confines of the alleyways. Friergate sure has a lot of beautiful parks like this one."

"Hm...yes, I'll agree on the fact with Friergate's parks, but Miss, it's a bit dangerous to be sleeping outside, what with Friergate's crime rate." Kaito pointed out, but smiled nevertheless. As the woman was standing up, he heard the growl from her stomach and couldn't help but stifle a small laugh in his throat.

"Oh I'm sorry! If you don't mind, can you point me to the nearest drinking fountain? I do not have any currency with me to afford the bottled commodities."

"Miss, are you sure water will keep you sustained? If you want, I'll take you to the coffee shop I work at- Ah, only if you want to though." Kaito offered as he heard her mention the drinking fountain. He was a bit worried for her- Homeless, sleeping outside, and she only sustained herself with water. He felt...pity for her. But neither of them managed to say anything as two boys came up to them.

"Astraea-oneesan?"

The name made Kaito blink. He was a second-generation Virtue...the Second Chastity? Was this woman the Second Chastity? He turned to look at the boys before he glanced back at the woman. He didn't interact much with Chastity in the Second Wars- he heard that she might be in hiding- while he was providing support for the other Virtues. He turned to look at the other two- a blue-haired boy just three inches taller than him, and an olive-haired one just as tall as him. Nevertheless, Kaito felt suspicious. They mentioned the name of the Second Chastity, and...he felt his knightly nature kick in as he reached over. "Miss, can I talk to you privately for a second?" He gently took the girl's hand as he turned away and started to walk away briskly. "I'll point you to a drinking fountain I know around these parts..." The only reason Kaito started to drag her away was that he felt suspicious. They knew her name- Who knew if they were Circus members?

Finally, he reached the coffee shop he worked at and let go, sighing. "Sorry Miss...it was an instinct." He apologized.

Alistair was resting in the Sky Castle when he heard the caw of a raven. He sat up from the couch, turning his tired gaze to a raven- Nozomi's raven. He frowned a bit- If Nozomi sent something up to the Sky Castle then something had definitely been discovered. He walked over and viewed the camera attached to the raven. There was a man, dead, with a poem detailing his sins of being a wife beater and disloyalty. He thought for a bit, frowning. "Come to think of it, there was a man who was killed with the message calling out Synchronicity written in his blood..."

Nodding, he turned around to deliver a message to a few Sins he knew. "Someone has to aid Nozomi in his investigation." He explained, sending the message to Lionel. The Entity of Greed's reply came almost immediately after he sent it. "I'm busy. You wanted me to check up on that school where your owl picked up faint auras, remember? You're just holding me on standby because you needed someone to go with me so we didn't look too obvious." Alistair sighed, remembering the command towards Lionel. Finally, he turned to the girl on the couch adjacent to his. Turquoise eyes glared back at him. "...This is it? You're sending me out to work with that guy? We're both lazy as hell." Alistair kept his stern stare on the girl before Serpent threw up her hands in surrender, getting up.

"Okay, okay, I'll go. Fine. It's always little ol' third generation Serpent anyway." She groaned as she started to move away from the couch. Just then, Lionel came in through the portal and nodded to Alistair. "You called?" "Yes. I need you both to go on missions." The Catalyst of Pride turned away. "Wait here."

As they watched Alistair's retreating back, Serpent turned to Lionel. "Slave driver..." "That's Alistair for you." "What's that Nozomi guy like anyway?" "Someone you'd really expect to be Sloth." Serpent just sighed and gave up on trying to talk to the Entity of Greed.

Unknown to the two Entities awaiting, Alistair went into the lower dungeons. He progressed through until he reached a particular cell, which he unlocked and stepped into. It was dark inside, the walls padded, and the hisses of snakes sounding all around the place. He frowned as one brushed past his leg- It was like the cell in an mental asylum. Mostly because of the man grinning and laughing in the center of the room, his arms bound by the straitjacket he was in. "Erebus." He called out, but before he could ask anything else, the voice cut him off. "Ah...the snakes can't wait, Alistair. They want their mother soon...it's hard being a father when your wife is always out and about, don't you know?" Erebus snickered, looking at the Catalyst of Pride with his gleaming eyes.

"That's exactly why I'm here. Envy is in the study- She's going on a mission soon." Almost like a child, Erebus suddenly jumped to his feet without the use of his arms. "Really now?! Am I to join her?!" "I'll explain more as we come up. Come with me." Alistair beckoned as he turned around and started walking. Erebus followed eagerly, around seven snakes following him closely behind. As they reached the room Serpent and Lionel were in, he shut his eyes to block out the light a bit.

Serpent noticeably paled as she noticed Erebus. "Don't tell me he's coming along..." She said, glaring at Alistair. Her glare softened a bit as the snakes naturally rushed to her. Alistair shook his head as he untied Erebus's bindings and watched as the Entity of Gluttony threw off the white shirt. "No. Only the snakes are coming with you. Erebus will join Lionel in checking that school." Erebus frowned a bit, but started to snicker. "Oh boy..." Lionel sighed, exasperated. "No problem, Alistair. Although you could have called me at a mission where I can...devour things." "Next time, Erebus. Next time." Erebus stretched as he started to walk to Lionel's side, placing his cold hand on Serpent's shoulder and whispering. "Maybe when we get back?" "In your dreams." The Entity of Envy rolled her eyes. Alistair nodded at the three.

"You understand your mission?" "Yes." "Yeah, sort of." "Whatever..." Alistair just sighed at the two snake-controllers' reactions to his question. "I'll keep in touch with all of you through telepathy. Well then, I wish you...good luck."

"I understand but please, avoid dragging any more women in the future like that. They may be kind-hearted people like you and, a simple talking through usually clears up lots of problems. The light of the human heart hasn't disappeared just yet."

Kaito scratched the back of his neck, smiling a bit sheepishly. Sometimes, he figured, he had to think a bit and not jump to conclusions. Well, he couldn't afford to get angry- He was the one in the wrong side anyway. "Aha...sorry. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions." He apologized again, then quited down as the woman began to speak again.

"This shop looks too posh. Are you certain there is a free drinking service here? I'm severely lacking in funds as you may see."

"No, don't worry about that, Miss...I'll take care of everything." He assured her as he gently led her in, following just behind. Just then, he heard someone call out.

"Hey, Kaito-san!"

Turning to the familiar voice, he noticed his Child waving to him and sighed in relief. That was one problem off the rack for Entity of Temperance. He led the woman with him over to Hajime and his friend. "Glad to see you here, Hajime. Say, you don't mind sharing tables with another customer, right?" Once Kaito was given the green light, he waited for the girl to sit before he turned around. "I'll get right back to you, Miss! Don't worry, it's on me!" He called before disappearing into the area for employees, sighing.

"Oh boy...Tsubaki, I'll pay you back in the next life at this rate..." He thought to himself, before changing into his uniform to approach the table of the three again.

Serpent darted through the tunnels in her snake form, letting the seven snake familiars slither along with her as she continued to travel, looking for the Nozomi person's aura. Then she abruptly stopped- sensing something here. She turned to the familiars. "Don't come out unless I tell you to, alright?" She commanded before emerging and quickly shifting into her human form. She glanced around the area- it seemed that she was in the red-light district, where the killing had occurred-"And...Sloth's gone. Ugh." Serpent thought glumly to herself.

"Serpent. Can you hear me?" She heard Alistaur's voice echo in her mind as he sent a telepathic message. She rolled her eyes. "Yeah. I'm in the area where the killing had happened. Hopefully nothing bad happens in this little investigation." She thought back at him, starting to walk around.

On Erebus and Lionel's side though, Lionel stopped from his careful investigation of any auras at the area when he got a message from Nozomi.

"I've now confirmed that the white-haired girl I followed is the Entity Lust. Whether or not she's connected to the killings is still unknown. I'll continue to linger around here until you guys can send in a replacement."

"Alright. Alistair sent Serpent out as a replacement earlier- I'll just send the news to her." Lionel thought back at him, then sighed. Erebus raised an eyebrow at him. "Change of plans in the investigation?" "Only on Serpent's side. Otherwise our mission remains the same." Lionel replied to the much taller man as he quickly formed up a message to send to the Entity of Envy. "Change of plans. Get out of there- You'll he dealing with the Entity of Lust."

Back with Serpent, the girl groaned at the news received from Lionel. "You're sending me, Envy, to deal with someone who inflicts natural jealousy among women?!" "Yes." Serpent just sighed and started to move away, glaring and muttering as she shoved her hands into the pockets of her skirt. She heard a call from Alistair again. "No need to rage. You're just picking up a comrade." "Quiet. Ugh, if I run into that girl again, this day will be complete hell."

"Girl?" "You know, little miss neko and her best friend the Model 686--" Serpent froze mid-statement as she noticed that familiar, pale blue-haired girl who claimed to be a cat. The same person she was talking about. She let out a sigh of exasperation.
"How can this day be any more hellish...?"

"So, you're the new Envy... You take after the First in a lot of ways. I suppose you haven't met me yet so, I am the Entity of Sloth in this war."

Serpent looked on at the figure. Yep, Lionel was right. He really did give off the impression of the Entity of Sloth. "Huh...so Lionel was right. Still, I heard about you from Alistair, but I guess this is the first formal meeting." She shrugged again, then looked up at the sky. She heard Alistair's voice again. "Serpent. What happened? Telepathic communications to you suddenly broke off." "I ended it. Diligence was there. It appears she's been tracking down the serial killer, or Lust in this case." She could just see Alistair grimace even if she wasn't at the Sky Castle. Hey, she was a new Entity, but talking to the Catalyst of Pride who was slowly growing in strength was letting her know more about his quirks.

At the Sky Castle, Alistair clicked his tongue. If Diligence was there, she might have caused a disturbance and at that rate they couldn't get to Lust so quietly now. "I just can't trust newcomers, can I?" He thought, then immediately sent a message to the two on standby. "Erebus! Can you hear me?" "Loud and clear. Why, another change in plans?" "Yes. Leave Lionel to guard the place, I need you to intercept Lust. You're the only one insane enough to resist." He heard Erebus groan at the remark. He was sure he hit something bad. Then the insane man's voice spoke again. "Fine. I've been waiting for something in the action anyway."

Erebus ended the telepathic communications line. He turned to Lionel and stared expectantly with his golden eyes. Finally, the Entity of Greed sighed. "Alright, alright. Go on and leave the rest of the work to me." With a wide grin and a snicker, Erebus took off, scanning and skimming through the auras that he passed by. When the first parts of his search ended up unsuccessful, Alistair spoke again. "Erebus, the red-light district. Try there." The black-haired man stopped, turned around and started to run off again, this time heading to the district.

He picked up familiar traces of auras around the place. Envy, Sloth...Diligence? He frowned. "No one told me Diligence was here. You only said to intercept Lust." He thought to himself. Of course he remembered Diligence all too well- the first Diligence killed him, after all. He continued his scanning of the auras of the place until he came upon an empty building. Normally he would have brushed it off and continued searching, but there was an aura coming from this place, even if it was just one. He snickered to himself- maybe his search ended with the person in the building. Calling up his snake familiars which he created immediately from the shadows of the nearby alleys and buildings, he ran in.

Having followed the younger virtues to the hideout with Leona Masenai sighed. Looking at the two as they spoke very and almost rapidly as The Virtue had to actually and finally lift up a hand to stop them talking so he could speak. They obviously had a lot of info but they also had inexperienced children. "First things first. Envy I have heard is around, yes. As for Lust, I have my doubts, as per little evidence and she's as almost as big a grey area as a possible new wrath at this moment. And as for Akito I assure you he's dead in the ground. Maybe Judgement was so frightened by Akito's performance as Wrath that it's hard to decide a new one. The Serial Killer could be indeed a new Sin, but it could be obvious the circus hasn't found her yet, which means they'll possibly be actively looking as well."

Heaving a sigh Masenai looked at them again. "As for the Case of it itself, Sacred Drive may indeed have their heads deep in the case if Diligence is amongst them. Hence why I told my Child to exercise caution and not use his special ammunition his magic provides and temporarily go Melee. Also, Robin also is looking into a more personal case for him as well, one that I'd promise we'd help in anyway we'd can. I shall explain in due time. For now Robin will be fine on his own, I'll use telepathy to check on him now and again. Right now, The Children of Humility and Kindness should learn how to fend for themselves. Anything to add Leona?"

----

Robin however was walking along a street past the red light district, where the most recent killing took place. He heard that much and saw some details of the crime scene from the news. However, nothing more or less. "Talk about finding a grain of rice in a snowfield. If Sacred Drive got to the crime scene, then I'm in for some competition. I wonder if I'll get paid for turning in the killer to the authorities?" he mused to himself as he walked. As he slowly began the search, he actually began to ponder other things. Things he never thought of. What did Dilegence look like? Do they have a Child? How will he recognize the rogue virtue? All of these variables were knocked around in his head. Then of course, the questions he's been asking himself since the beginning of his life as a bounty Hunter.

"Where are they? Why did my Parents disappear? Did they hate me?" The thoughts always came to him. The one case he might never solve. No. No time for that now. He had to focus on finding a serial killer, and if it was an entity, find a way to kill it swift before Sacred Drive, or Dilegence caught up to him. The hunt is on, the game afoot.

-----

The empty abandoned building was good for the night to Morrigan. She felt angered and betrayed. The metal of her sword betrayed her to that woman, who somehow managed to trace her. The sadness she began to feel was slightly justified but she couldn't cry. She wanted to, but who'd care? In the end she felt alone in the world she was brought back to. She had no shoulder to cry on at the moment. She had to keep a firm grip on the fact she was being hunted and had to find a way to hide once more and plot her revenge on the organization who had squeezed her into a corner. She'd do a double kill the next time, and this time, mutilate the bodies so horrendously there would be no way to identify them.

"They'll get their comuppance...I'll write my next killing denouncing them. Calling them fraudelent forces with no real cause....the Sacred Drive will rue the day they did this to me."

Suddenly she felt a strange occurrence. Summoning her Love's bite she turned sharply. "Who's there?!?" she shouted angrily.

"Who's there?!?"

Erebus blinked. So he was found so easily. Ah, never mind, it wasn't everyday you saw a weird man in all black walking with snakes following at his feet. He shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets, finally showing himself from his place in the shadows. "Now, now, isn't that a bad way to greet a veteran?" He smirked, and snickered. "Newcomer, old-timer, it doesn't matter. I'm just here to pick you up, Entity of Lust." Tilting his head to the side a bit, he snickered again. "That is, if you are. No point hiding, I can sense the aura."

He lifted a pale hand and motioned to the snakes. The snake familiars reared up and hissed. "Now it's either you come along quietly, or I have to knock you out and drag you. Your choice, no?"

After a while, Kaito was finally done with his shift. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He was heading...somewhere. He didn't know where. Not sure if it was to the casinos and bars he frequented, and he wasn't sure if he was headed in the direction of his apartment. He was just...wandering, he guessed. Finally, he came into an alleyway before he heard an all-too familiar voice. "Now, Kaito. At this time, you'd be beating up drunks and getting lucky with the machines. So why are you out?" Kaito looked up and recognized the mismatched eyes, that golden hair...no doubt, it was the only man who had beaten him in a game, Lionel Demios.

"You too, Lionel. Or are you on an assignment?" Lionel just shrugged it off. "They let me off the hook already. I'm done for the day." The Entity of Greed straightened himself up and looked at him. "So answer my question. What are you doing out here?" "I'm just wandering--" "--Just wandering or still trying to find a way to repay that heir friend of yours?" Kaito flinched. He knew it was a bad idea to tell Lionel about his friend. Then he got an idea and looked up at Lionel. "Want to make a bet?"

--A few hours later--

Kaito found himself grinning like an idiot as he looked on at his opponent. Lionel himself was frowning, dumbfounded that he actually lost at a game of pool against his old friend. "Well, Lionel? I win." Lionel straightened up and cleared his throat nervously. "I-I never said anything about giving part of my treasury--" Kaito glared at him, and he flinched. Lionel sighed and pulled something out of his coat, pinning it down on the table. Kaito took it and looked at it. A compass...?

"Hey, what's this rubbish?" Lionel glared at him and cleared his throat again. "It's a compass. It fluctuates whenever an Entity is nearby, regardless whether they have something to obscure their presence or aura." "...But what am I going to do with this? It's not like I'm planning to throw myself into this silly war with you guys." Lionel flinched again before speaking. "...Look. It's a lovely night, I was planning on hooking up with a few of the girls here, but seeing as you won, you can have your fun with them. Now good night." Without another word, Lionel disappeared out the door in a rush. Kaito frowned, staring at the compass.

"Ugh, Lionel, you always find an excuse when I win, but when I lose, you force me to pay. You little..." He thought glumly, and started to move to get out but reconsidered it. "But...seeing as I'm already here in a bar, might as well make the most of it..." He murmured and started to weave through the place. Maybe he could find someone interesting, and actually hit up something.

Soon his search yielded a result. A girl with pale blue hair, wearing a muffler. The compass was starting to fluctuate a little, so maybe...he moved over to sit at the stool just beside the girl. Giving an order to the barista, he quietly sipped at the drink he had. His aura gave off something, he knew, and the girl had a suspicious aura too. She would notice him any moment now...

Masenai sighed as the two actually apologized. He then only clapped his hands in a soft applause. "I am not at all annoyed at what I was displayed here. Quite the Opposite. You both show promise with your magic training. Although Hajime, a little elemental magic advice; Control your breathing. It'll be the difference between a single controlled blast, to an uncontrolled inferno, and plus," The Virtue paused as he positioned a finger at a small metal target and then flicked his finger as a fireball leaps from said finger and gives a solid blow to the target. "When you learn how to control your element, the quicker it is to develop your own personal tricks. But I am not your magic instructor. Think of me as a Self Defense instructor for an encounter with a man who wants to rob you boys. Because like it or not, the city you live in has a high crime rate. When all is said and done, I hope your training in the Physical combat area pays off someday. Now then, to begin your Physical Training, I wish to see any possible fighting abilities you have. Not counting your magic. Hopefully a magic lesson comes later."

-----

Morrigan held her sword at the man but noticed the Various snakes and started to shiver uncomfortably. "I've had a rough day today, so I'm not in the mood to be dragged anywhere against my will thank you very much. I don't know what the heck you really want but I don't want to go anywhere with anybody. Not with you or anyone in particular." Morrigan then heard the sound of another man stepping in the building. She assumed it was a man.

"Alright Robin, you came here because you felt something dark and ominous about this building and your shoulder ached, nothing more. If anything the serial killer might be here. So if that's so, then why here, this place is a dump."

Morrigan felt like this man would attract more attention then she needed so she motioned for the snake man to quiet down as she wandered around the corner of the dark and dismissed her Love's Bite. The moment the stark white haired man walked near her corner Morrigan grabbed the Man and delivered several well placed blows to his torso and dragged him to a door, in slight view of the strange man as she threw him out of the building.

Then she turned to face the being in front of her. "Okay, so coming with you. You'd better have room and board. Also, mind getting rid of your....pets? They're freaking me out and I don't want to slice them up like I do most disloyal men."

------

"Well, that happened..." muttered Robin as he got up and cracked his neck a bit as he walked rubbing his fresh bruises and other things. He decided to just get a drink to ease off the pain and call it a night. He didn't know what was going on, but more or less likely, he had a mission failure sticker on his slightly reputable record of getting bounties. He saw the man though, that would be something to appease his Sensei, if anything.

Robin made his way out of the red light district and started to search for a well frequented bar to mask his possibly weakened aura, due to the one sided scuffle. "That woman got the drop on me. Masenai and the others must be laughing..."

-----

Little did Robin realize was that Masenai, who always used his Telepathy to check up on Robin from time to time was both humored and concerned of his progress. He then heard Leona talking to someone and turned to see who it was momentarily. He gave a small smile and nodded under his hood to Astraea in a small greeting.

Erebus raised an eyebrow when the woman easily managed to throw that boy from earlier out. Seems like he was dealing with a more than dangerous Entity. "Serial killer indeed." He thought to himself. Just then the woman turned to him again.

"Okay, so coming with you. You'd better have room and board. Also, mind getting rid of your....pets? They're freaking me out and I don't want to slice them up like I do most disloyal men."

He snickered, dismissing the snake familiars easily. Most of them were with Envy anyway, but she made it back earlier than he did, he bet. "Great. Didn't want this place to get too...messy." He sent a telepathic line to Alistair immediately after the statement. "Alistair! I got her! Send us up!" After the request, a portal to the Sky Castle popped up. Erebus just grinned and motioned for her to follow, and the portal closed immediately after they went through.

"Well? Did the Third Humility finally decide to send you to dispose of me? Dispose of the so-called "traitor" within Synchronicity?"

Kaito looked up when the girl mentioned him knowing about her aura. He glanced down at the compass he had hidden in his black coat. But there was one thing..."Traitor? Of Synchronicity?" Kaito suppressed a small, bitter laugh. He heard it quite a few times before due to his dealings with Lionel. "What a familiar word...even then, I do admit that the Third Humility and Kindness have a habit of suddenly calling out fellow Synchro members' names. It's...a bit dangerous, considering that both Circus and Synchronicity are trying to keep the war undercover. Or so I think."

He took another sip. "But I've been away from this war for a little while, and I will admit that I do not know some of the newcomers." He glanced at the girl again. "So...if it's alright with you, could I know just a bit more about you? I'll give my info in exchange. Besides--" He glanced around the place and looked to the compass to see if anyone else had a suspicious aura in the bar. No one so far, and if there was, they wouldn't notice the two unless they really focused. "--I don't think there are any other Entities besides us in this place." He leaned back a bit to show that he would back down if needed.

"Of course, I won't force you. Your decisions are yours." He said, a hand raised in surrender if she ever was annoyed with him.

Masenai sighed. "I guess that means class dismissed for now boys. Off to your homes and bed with you." he stated as he sighed and walked to a chair. Hoping to get at least some relaxation for the stress starting to build up in his mind, he sat down drumming his fingers.

----

Robin was sore, tired, and miffed about the results of the night. What was worse, he knew he was broke still so therefore he just simply decided to head back to the Dummy apartment for the night. He had to clear his head for tomorrow it seemed. Maybe tomorrow more good results will be yielded from it.

----

Morrigan looked around the interior area as she walked through and immediately began to walk around in exploration. "This'll be perfect whilst I plot my next killing, to show that idiotic investigator she doesn't scare me and think I won't back down." she muttered as she walked around a bit more to think about it.

"Since you already know I'm an Entity, my name is Nakahara. Rin Nakahara and I'm the Entity of Diligence. I guess the news regarding the deserter has gotten to you? Well, I'm the one they're talking about. I rejoined Sacred Drive, my old organization. Surely, you've heard of it? To be fair, I was fighting for Sacred Drive before I was scouted by Synchronicity so, I don't know if they can call it a desertion or not."

Kaito processed the bits of information in his head. Sacred Drive, the organization that wanted to stop the war between Circus and Synchronicity. But he heard that it was also the same organization that had rebuilt Friergate after the tensions of the First War, so he guessed that they weren't completely evil. There was no reason for the Third Humility to be calling Diligence- no, Rin, a traitor for it. "I see your point. It's just a rejoining. I guess you haven't completely deserted them, more of...just switched sides for the moment."

"Well, I'm already in too deep to turn back and, I don't really want to change sides again. Sacred Drive's intentions are simple and that is to defend the populace from the sadness of the war. The fact that we're fighting to preserve and not to destroy is enough for me."

The Entity of Temperance nodded. It seemed that each of them, be it Circus or Synchronicity had their own conflicts of sorts. Besides, he did understand that Sacred Drive just wanted to keep Friergate safe. It wasn't like Friergate was already run rampant by the high crime rate. The city didn't need more issues on it. When the girl announced that it was his turn to give his own side, he sighed a bit with a tired smile. "Well then. I am Kaito Tsukuyomi, the Entity of Temperance. Originated from the Second War, and frankly, I don't feel like participating in any other."

He watched the crowd below as he spoke. Continuing on..."I'll share the same info- why they've been calling me a traitor. Yes, I fought in the Second War, but...I've seen enough to say that I don't want to participate in this. Friergate has enough on its plate. So...once the new Entities were chosen, I went away from Synchronicity and disappeared altogether, I guess. The newcomers sought me out along with the Second Chastity, but again, I don't think that either of us want to go back to those kinds of conflict."

"The other reason why they think I'm a traitor is...well, my negotiations with the Entity of Greed. Yes, a Sin. I don't see why the others get angry over things like it. He's an acquaintance. Just because we were on opposite sides doesn't mean that all friendships will be broken." A small buzzing in his coat disturbed him and he looked down. His phone. He excused himself for a bit and answered. It was a text from Hajime. "Hajime, I'm doing something important at the moment, and I need to stay focused. For the late reply, my phone was on silent mode." Tucking it back quickly, he turned back to the other Virtue.

"I respect your decisions in going back to Sacred Drive, don't worry. I understand it all too well." He turned to look at the window nearby and saw that it was getting a bit late. "I should be heading back now. It was nice talking to you, Diligence." He nodded, gave a small bow and turned around to leave.

Erebus diverted from the Entity of Lust's side to go back to Alistair and report. Sharp purple eyes stared back at him, and so did turquoise ones. He gave a small snicker. "She's gone exploring around the castle." "Why didn't you call her here?" "Come on! Let her get familiarized with the place." Golden eyes and purple orbs met in a fierce staring contest before Alistair sighed. He was still a Catalyst, and Erebus was an Entity. "Fine. I'll think about it, if you go back to your cell." Erebus was about to speak, but Serpent abruptly got up and started shoving him out of the study. "Hurry up, it's what you want." She urged, pushing the much taller man out.

This surprised the two boys a bit. Serpent almost never wanted to be anywhere near Erebus much less touch him. Then the two realized- They had Lust in the Castle, and Serpent was Envy. Erebus held back another laugh while Alistair just sighed and shook his head as the two disappeared into the dungeons. Although...Alistair glanced down at his arm.

Small markings were developing on his right arm.

"Hey Mika-san, mind if I sit here?"

Mika only slightly looked up from her position as one of the Catalyst's she's observing casually approached her. She merely gave a slight nod, letting him sit down adjacent to hers. Inside her mind though, a mental conversation was brewing.
"That's it! Now that he's here, I can assess his aura better. Heh, so this is Temperance's Catalyst eh? And I thought he could do better. Tsukuyomi humiliates himself." Akito sighed, a little disappointed.
"You seem confident about it. Just, how strong are you Aki-san?" Mika asked, wondering more about his character.
"Aaahh...let's see... I killed the First Humility, that enough? Among all the first generations, the only ones who can match my power in terms of level alone is Charles, the First Diligence and Nozomi AKA the Lynchpin. As for defense well--the Second Chastity's barrier was the only ability that managed to block my Tempest. But, if you were to ask me, Charles is the only Entity I'll ever acknowledge as being close to my ability." Akito sighed. He remembered that faithful day.
"People say you were very terrible Aki-san. What do you want exactly?" Mika wondered, feeling a little curious about the Black Dragon.
"I just want change. That's all I wanted." Akito remembered the past.
"The only record I heard of you was when you kidnapped the old mayor's sister. How will you justify that?" Mika asked, still in the process of finishing her dinner.
"Yes, I kidnapped her and tortured her until the mayor gave me what I want: Exposing all members of his office who were initially accused of plunder and bringing them out in the open field. There, I killed them via lighting bolt. I also gave him one month to repair all damaged roads in the city. Not bad eh?"
"I don't know what to think... I don't really..."
"Don't be ashamed. If you don't have an opinion then that's fine. Being a little immature helps sometimes. You're still young. I can understand if you don't have an interest in learning all these things. Go ahead, socialize a little. That lynchpin is still on my back so, I can't do anything."
With that, Akito stayed quiet for the duration of Mika's lunch. Mika still found the silence unnerving and was unable to speak. "When it comes to courting, it's always the male who has to make the first move. So don't be nervous."
"Aki-san!" She simply stayed there, burying her face in the book she borrowed as she waited for her tea to cool.

As Astraea and Leona waited for the afternoon to come, Leona decided that it was time to help Astraea clear the guilt from her mind.
"You know, if you don't want to fight because you still blame yourself for that failed ambush, no one's really blaming you. You do not have to carry that burden alone. It wasn't your responsibility to bear."
"It's not like that Leona. I left because I saw no point in continuing this war any further." Astraea closed her eyes as her mind wandered back to the time of their failed ambush.

Flachback... (OOC: Written with permission from DeathScythe386 via PM. Not related to Miruka's flashback at the earlier post. This is an elaboration on Astraea's past.)
It was rather dark and the fog was heavy during that night. The rest of Synchronicity had gathered at the banks of the river. Their leader, the First Humility had confirmed that most of the Circus members had gathered at the nearby harbor to perform a "mass devouring"--they were to drain the resident's stamina, forcing the rest of them to fall to apathy. That way, they can buy them time to remaster their forces.

The attack commenced. Unfortunately, their enemy had predicted their coming and also steeled themselves for the fight. As expected, the abilities of the First Wrath, Akito and the First Gluttony, Erebus came in handy. They were soon split into two, with each Virtue and Sin, engaging others head on. Astraea opted to seek out Akito and pin him down, to avoid him using his Tempest attack. Running ahead, she managed to pass the other combatants. Their leader had engaged the First Pride, Victor in an open duel. As she was about to reach an intersection blocked off by large containers, Erebus suddenly came crashing down on her.

"This is the end!" He was about to impale her with his hand when a fireball hit Erebus, sending him staggering back.
"Astraea, get back!" The First Diligence, Charles stood in his way.
"Well, well! If it isn't Charles! Finally managed to catch up?" Akito also landed down. Two on two. Charles knew that Astraea won't be able to handle fighting these two head on. Detonating a smokescreen, he dragged Astraea away towards the nearby parking lot.
"What are you doing Charles? The battle--"
"Screw this battle!" Astraea was shocked at Charles' sudden outburst. "Our leader went and got himself killed. We've been had, they expected our attack all along. Victor...he's just too dangerous of an opponent alone. He and Akito managed to kill our leader. Leona is currently trying to help our remaining allies retreat. Right now, we have to--" Before he can even finish, Charles suddenly cast a stream of flame towards an uncertain direction. Soon, another Sin entered the area. He had intense red eyes and silver flashes surrounded him.
"Wait--he's a psychic as well?!" Astraea looked on in surprise. Charles merely picked himself up and turned to his back. The two had started approaching as well.
"Astraea...you handle that guy. I'll finish Akito and Erebus here. I'll buy us the time we need to escape."
"But--you can't possibly handle Tempest--"
"Heh, I'll rely on your barrier for that. Good hunting." Charles soon headed off, engaging both Erebus and Akito almost single-handedly as Astraea tried to force her way through Nozomi. For a moment, it seemed that he was headed into certain death as Erebus and Akito managed to force him into a corner. Wanting to assist her comrade, Astraea opted to channel all her mana into a single attack to eliminate Nozomi once and for all. Nozomi also did the same, channeling most of his. As soon as their fields touched, a psychic shock followed, making them lose control of their powers.
"Astraea! The field!" Charles called out as he finally exhausted his flame barrier.
"I can't! My powers aren't in my control anymore" Astraea called back, their psychic resonance still causing small shocks on the ground.
"I see...Astraea, when I launch my attack, the connection will get severed. When that happens, shield yourself. Leona managed to retreat safely so--we're the only ones left. I'll clean up my own mess!" With that said, Charles channeled the last of his energy into performing his most powerful attack. Gathering all the flames in the area, he chanted an old language, forcing the fire to conform to his will. The flames danced through the sky, taking the form of a blazing dragon, that soon headed straight for the two Entities. Akito managed to block using his lightning but, Erebus wasn't too lucky. The flames consumed him. Still, Charles couldn't contain all the energy any further and the entire harbor was soon drowned in flames, thanks to both Akito's Tempest and Charles' dragon.

The battle ended in a stalemate. As Astraea surveyed the ruined surroundings, she caught sight of Charles, walking towards her. Catching him in her arms, he only gave her a weak grin as he broke the news down to her.
"I-d-did it..." Charles finally gave up his last breath as he died in her arms. Astraea could only mourn quietly but, she immediately stopped when she heard some scuffling nearby. She saw Nozomi walking around. Hurriedly, she readied a spell to finish him off but what she saw struck her. He bent down to check on a dead Circus Catalyst whose body was burned beyond recognition. From Astraea's eyes, it seemed as if he was also looking for survivors. Seeing that this boy was hopeless, he turned to the next one, almost moving like a zombie. He picked up another, a female this time, some parts of her arms were burnt but, she was still somehow alive. He seemed to take comfort in this thought. The thought that he also managed to save all others that died by rescuing that one girl.

Flashback end...

"What I saw during that day...I guess that before we are Synchronicity and Circus, we were all humans first right?"

Rion slowly awoke in her room, blinking up with tired, violet eyes. She turned to the side, looking over at the clock before getting up. Fixing up her bed- and again, anything she might have knocked over- she was about to get out to watch the news when she found a note pinned to her door. "Spiral Highlights...?" She thought, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Just then, that dangerous and feral voice sounded in her head. "Let me go. I know how to get there, and you still look too sleepy." Rion flinched, then shook her head. "No. I'm too worried about you doing something." "But why? You've been sleeping, waking up, eating, watching TV, then sleeping again for two whole days!! I need oxygen too!" Shion complained, and Rion grimaced again before snatching the note off of the door and tucking it into her skirt. "Okay, okay...just don't do anything too rash." She said, then let Shion take control.

Shion stretched, grinning. Throwing open the closet, she dragged out her trusty sledgehammer. Turning around with a snicker, she headed out.

It was almost afternoon when Shion got there. It was no easy task to do. She had to stay out of public attention due to the sledgehammer with her, which resulted in the trek to Spiral Highlights a bit longer than expected. Looking up at the high building, she gulped a bit. "Backing out?" Rion spoke in her mind, her tone slightly teasing. Shion shook her head and breathed in, entering the building.

Again, traveling to the top was a bit troublesome. She had to make an excuse that the sledgehammer she was carrying was used to play croquet- which resulted in her scaring away most of the people in the elevators- but finally, she got to the top, seeing her Entity and two more. A woman with white hair, and a man in a black hood. She swung the sledgehammer behind her effortlessly, breathing in. "So then, Leona-san, why exactly did you call me here?"

That day, Alistair noticed something. There was a huge amount of concentrated auras coming from the top of the Spiral Highlights building. Leaving Erebus- again- to take care of Lust who was still in the castle, he started to move out of the Castle. "Any other notes?" Erebus called out from behind him. "...Make her feel comfortable here, Erebus. I'm just visiting...some people." With that, Alistair activated his Unholy Exertion, cloaking himself in the darkness. He then stepped into the special facility in the Sky Castle that allowed him to teleport anywhere within the city. Setting a destination, he passed through the portal.

Opening his tired, violet eyes again, he was standing on the building adjacent to Spiral Highlights. He deactivated his Unholy Exertion, making his presence known to the three Virtues and the Catalyst with them. "Synchronicity...who would've thought that such a gathering isn't unknown to most of you." He scanned through the three who turned out to be veterans from the old wars. "I presume we all have met somewhere at some point back then so I'm skipping the introductions. Straight to the point, I am inviting you to hold a dialogue with me later this evening." Thinking that he may have worded it too vaguely, he elaborated further.
"This isn't a treaty or anything. It is merely the formal statement of the side's true intentions for this war. As such, certain conditions must be met. I for one will only bring two other Sins with me so, I expect you to do the same, if only out of respect." He turned to the brown-haired woman, who appeared to be the oldest among the girls he's seen so far. "You seem to be the leader of this group, given that your current Humility is severely lacking compared to his predecessors. So, will you take this offer? If you don't want to that's fine but, we will take it to mean that Synchronicity has no plans for this city and as such, make the assumption that you are merely fighting for an empty cause, which doesn't benefit this city at all. Take your time. We'll be waiting at the Rockfeller's building near the capital area. And I only expect three people to arrive. Rest assured, no trickery will be involved here. I won't reduce my status by relying on underhanded tactics. This negotiations have been a tradition of the past, it would be blasphemous to taint it if we were to fight while it is underway."
With that said, Alistair gave a short bow before Unholy Exertion activated again and he teleported back into the Sky Castle.

Reaching the Castle, he quickly delivered a message to two of his acquaintances. "Nozomi, Lionel. Meet me here later- We're heading to the Rockfeller's building. I've asked for a dialogue exchange with some of the veterans of Synchronicity to see what their intentions are for this city." "Daring move...alright, fine."
