Family Members: Nate lost his family as a child, he only knew them in the years up until he turned 10. A car crash on route to his Birthday party stole the life of his brother, sister, mother and father. Nate only survived because he'd been sat in the middle seat of the back with nothing to fall into. He hasn't coped with this loss very easily but has recently pulled himself together.
Academic Career: An unsuccessful student, Nate has an arrange of D-C grades and the rest are all fails. He was very unsuccessful at GCSE and is expected to achieve all zilch at college on his A-Level courses. Nate though very charming, literate and thoughtful- he isn't a natural academic, so school was always a trouble for him but he achieved an A grade in English and has since taken multiple engineering, electronic, mechanics and computing courses and is quickly growing a reputation for his skills.
Future Plans: He's a hopeless romantic and dreams of finding someone to share his time with but career path wise, he isn't overly ambitious or wondering. He just wants to work in metal works, something that takes tinkering and something he can take pride in. Otherwise, he isn't that fussed.
Personality: Nate is a sociable guy, he likes meeting new people, making partying, hanging out and even just chilling around school but that doesn't take away from his naturally quite timid character though the truth of his lack of confidence is for the best part unknown to most because he glosses over it by naturally being quite charming and outing out the norm to reinforce this idea of him being confident and self assured because he tries to hide from people he isn't. Nate is really just somebody who wants to have fun, growing up in a very fortunate, financially secure family- he has little reason to worry about finding immediate work, getting into University or even with how he'd afford to go out on the weekend, it's all there for him. He probably won't even need to worry in the future, he's supported by an influential and powerful family so one of his short comings is that he doesn't always understand the need to work hard and be independent or why people can't come hang out with him every single weekend but he tries to acknowledge this flaw by being really generous and offering to give up things all the time and go out and do cheaper things than clubbing for example he'll always pay fuel money if he's given a lift and he'll buy the first round of drinks or the booze for a party, or pay the taxi- it's the little things behind the scenes that he tries to cover as much as possible because he does often find himself feeling guilty that he's in so much easier a position than the others but despite this he's a good listener and he'll let you talk about anything- he never judges, he's been told terrible things but he doesn't hold people to it, he has the morals of a saint except for marijuana he's record is clean but what rich boy doesn't dapple in drugs? He's a good person but he's incredibly protective and this can often drag him into unfortunate circumstances like fist fights or in people's bad books but he'll never let anyone walk alone. He could see someone who gave him hell alone on a park bench in town and he'd sit next to them, ask them what was up and if he could help- he just would and no body has ever been able to deny that. He may be naΓ―ve but he makes up for it in compassion and a golden heart.
Fears: Loss | Loneliness | Birds | Death | Snakes | Acid Rain | Confined Spaces
Quirks: He plays with his hair a lot and is prone to rubbing the back of his neck, twiddling his thumbs, biting his lip and swearing when he's nervous. He also accidentally sticks his pinkie finger when he's holding a glass. He's also massively known for raising his eye brow a lot and his friends insist he can raise his eyebrow in a million different ways but he doesn't see it.
Hobbies: Sports, he plays every game under the sun and at the most of them- he's naturally pretty good. He's also known to spend a lot of building and tinkering with cars and mechanics, it's expected he'll dive in to the luxury car industry very soon. He's sizing up courses and universities from all over the world to study his options in more depth.
Passions: Cars
Bad Habits: Swearing | Marijuana | Staying Out Late | Too Honest?
Guilty Pleasures: 80s movies
Likes: Cars | Sports | 80s Movies | Dogs & Cats | College | Friends | Gigs | Smoking | Joking Around | Pranks | Romance- He's a complete sucker, all or nothing kind of guy | Girls who aren't afraid to stand out | Looking after people | Talking | Listening | Easter | New Year's Eve | Carbonara | Caramel Lattes | Norway
Dislikes: Fighting | Reading | Academics | Being Alone | Supermarkets | Red Wine | Sitting Still | Confrontational Characters | Bullying | Marginalization | Depersonalization | Zoos, Safari Parks & Aquariums | Seeing people upset/alone | Letting people down | Action movies | Caroline Flack | Tea | Coca-Cola | France | England | Reptiles | Eating fish

"Nurse...will I be able to go tomorrow? No offence but this isn't exactly somewhere I want to be," She admitted sheepishly but the woman looked at her sadly and shrugged softly.

"You won't be able to attend school but you'll certainly be home for tea- if not, lunch," She vowed. "We couldn't get hold of a parent though. So we have the issue here with your medical forms but I suppose, we can find you a witness through another member of staff since your treatment was nothing serious but you never fully explained how you were hurt dear," She reminded with a rising eyebrow.

"Just an accident- in the kitchen, bottle fell out of the cupboard and smashed on the way down- hit the side I guess," Arabella answered uneasily and the Nurse nodded with a doubtful expression.

"I'll try to discharge you in the morning," She said eventually. Bella thanked her and she half wanted to keep on rambling with questions to stop the nurse from leaving and leaving her alone but it would be no good in the end. So she curled up in the sheets and tried to sleep as the nurse left but the sleep she did get was haunted with nightmares and nothing nice.

Friday 4th September - 10:51 AM - No Present Company

Bella wasn't bothered till late in the morning and she was disturbed only by her phone going of with the 33rd message she'd received since break time yesterday. She unlocked her phone and began to scroll.

Is it true?

OMG are you guys gonna date?

Did you cheat on Jace with him?

You and Jamie? OMG wtf XD

"What the fuck..." Bella whispered as she scrolled through her phone where plenty of messages filled her inbox with similar accusations and enquiries. She then found the initial messages from Jace and opened those.

Heard you got grounded well thought it might cheer you up to know that little saddo creep who tags along with you t school- you know the gay one, Jamie or whatever- I don't care. I thought I'd inform you he likes you- in the wants to fuck you, lovey dovey, romantic way. He didn't want you to know and was too much of a pussy to tell you so I did him a favour and told everyone in the common room. See you at school babe! x

Bella stared in disbelief- she knew he'd been jealous of her friendship with Jamie but she never thought he'd go this far to hurt one of them.

But what if it was true?

She kind of hoped-

"Fuck no! I can't say that, I haven't even broke up with Jace yet..." She muttered to herself angrily and slammed her phone shut as she tried to gather herself. It wasn't true- how could it be?

But she hoped.

Guiltily.

She got dressed in her clothes from yesterday because she had nothing left and then started the walk home, the thought terrified her but she had to go get cleaned up and dressed in something that wasn't blood stained.

Nate was walking to school with a couple of his friends, completely unable to understand why they were still talking about how Bella and Jamie drama, somebody said they'd seen her at the hospital this morning whilst visiting their nan and though Nate felt bad for her, he was sick of hearing everybody's theories on what was going on with them all. Who actually cared? To be fair, Nate was friends with Jamie and Bella, not close but they'd known each other a while which is why he was refusing to get involved- they deserved their own time to sort it out without the student body getting involved. He decided he better catch up with Jamie later then and made a mental note to catch him class if he could.

He'd skipped his morning classes to get stoned with some friends and they were now planning on meeting up in the local club tonight and he had to admit he was really looking forward to a couple of drinks, maybe meeting somebody but even just having a laugh. He was dreading college though- he struggled with a lot of his classes, he wasn't an academic and he did find it really hard not to get embarrassed by the whole ordeal when he was only ever scraping Ds.

But they arrived on campus and were for the best part sober as they made there way to the common room and ditching his group, Nate went over to a sofa and through himself down on it with a tired yawn. He looked around the room for Ellie, planning on seeing if he wanted to join him later when he was going out but he didn't spot her straight away so he assumed she had a class and got his phone out deciding to wait having missed his own class anyway.

"Jamie? Why aren't you at college?" His mother asked. He hadn't realised she was home, otherwise he would have stayed in bed until she left. He'd been sleeping on and off for most of the morning, so he hadn't heard her come in.

"Sick," he replied. It wasn't a complete lie. His head was pounding, his stomach still felt sick with anxiety, and all he wanted to do was sleep. But it was mostly because he couldn't face the thought of school. Bella hadn't called at all last night, and he didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing. But the thought of having to face her, and everyone else, all gossiping about him and her and their relationship and what was actually happened...

His mother nodded, looking at him with concern. "You don't look well, you're as white as a sheet. Make sure to get plenty of rest, okay?" She instructed, and he nodded. He was intending on sleeping for as much of the day as possible. "Your father's here, I'll tell him to keep an eye on you," she added. Jamie nodded again, filling a glass with water and heading back upstairs.

He'd turned his phone back on silent, because with morning had come the texts, asking if the rumours were true and what had happened and were they dating and so on. He hadn't replied to any of them. He'd hardly read them. He hadn't even texted anybody to say he wasn't coming in, and he wasn't planning on it. Everybody would know why he really wasn't in, anyway.

"Hey, Wallace!" Somebody yelled from across the corridor. "Heard that the horses aren't the only thing you're riding at those stables!" They laughed and high-fived their friends. Ellie barely glanced in their direction as she headed for the common room, resisting the temptation to swear at them in as many different languages as possible. Her mom taught languages in one of the fancy private schools, and it was one thing Ellie had always loved. Italian had been the first language she'd learned, and it had just gone from there.

She made it to the common room, and was immediately able to guess what everyone was talking about. Yesterday, one of the guys- Jace something or the other- had announced to the whole common room that Jamie Chapman was in love with Bella Swift. Considering that he and Bella were supposedly dating, it was a strange announcement- but judging by Jamie's reaction, Jace had done it to get at him. She'd never liked Jace, anyway. She had a feeling he'd been the one to start one of the rumours about her after she'd refused to sleep with him.

She found Nate and headed over to him. As she reached the couch, she flung her bag down beside it and sank into the couch beside him. She had a sneaking suspicion he was stoned- or, at least, had been stoned at some point this morning- but couldn't blame him.

"Hey. You coming to mine tonight?" She asked, hanging her head over the back of the couch and glancing at him. Their relationship was weird, but she liked it. It was like a relationship, but without all of the messy stuff that so often comes with a relationship.

β€» Mood: Lonely
β€» Listening To: Pink Floyd

As soon as Bella got home, her mind was set on getting ready for college again. She was told to stay at home and rest, at least for the day but Bella hadn't even considered it for a split second. She snuck into the house through the back door, relieved to find her Mother was long gone to go to work by the fact her bag- which she always left on the kitchen table was absent. Exhaling in relief, Bella hurried upstairs- her hand instinctively pressing against her bandages around her stomach as she went. Upon entering her bedroom, she stripped down and looked herself over in the mirror. She'd showered before she left hospital so she wouldn't have to change her bandages too soon at home, so she sprayed some deodorant, her favourite perfume and started getting dressed. She wanted to curl up in a baggy sweater and jeans but people would notice she wasn't herself and she didn't want to give anybody a reason to think that because then they'd soon start digging for information and prying for details Bella wasn't keen to share. She slipped into some black tights and shorts with a tank and a huge oversized flannel shirt and stared at herself in the mirror, the bandages were so tightly bound you couldn't even detect them through her shirt so she sighed softly. She ran a brush through her hair and noticing a slight frizz to it, she voted to straighten her hair.

Getting ready took Arabella the best part of an hour, she'd been careful with her skin make-up to cover up the slighty sleepy shadows under her eyes and the fading bruise on her neck then she applied her usual dark eye-liner and flashed herself a smile to try and summon some confidence but the smile was as dead as her first pet gerbil. She sighed and gave up. What was the point? She had her phone on her but she didn't turn it on, she didn't even want to think about the kind of abuse people would be hurling at it by now. So she pulled herself together, sparked up a joint and made her way to college- grabbing her bag on the way out without caring to check she had what she needed. The Nurses had kindly informed Arabella's college of her trip to hospital so Bella figured they'd understand.

The school to college was quick and short and thankfully due to her untimely arrival, the common room was relatively sparse and quiet compared to the usual commotion you'd expect upon arrival. She wasn't going to let this beat her. She didn't know it was true. Jace was an arsehole. She had other friends. She didn't need anything. She didn't need anyone. She was here to prove a point. She kept thinking this to herself the whole time as she sat down at an empty table in the common room and got out a work book to try and make up for the lost lesson time. Many people looked over at her, snickering, commenting or sighing sympathetically but she took no notice and sat there quite contently still smoking the last of her joint even inside the common room. No staff were about and Bella couldn't name one person she knew who hadn't done it before so she found herself careless to the matter and she tried to relax into her normal school set up.

Her stomach throbbed and the reminder didn't help but she chilled. She found it in herself to be calm and collected- emotions could wait till she found Jace and break time and if all went to plan, beat the shit out of him.

As Ellie waltzed over Nate grinned at her charmingly with a boyish quality that he'd never grow out of thanks to those inherited dimples he had the burden of bearing. "Hey well if it isn't my favourite blonde," He teased with a smile, moving his bag as she sat down so there was room for her on the sofa. He listened to her talk and turned to look at her, he was kind of glad she'd brought it up because it made it easier to suggest her coming out with him later because he always worried about complicating things or her getting the wrong end of the stick because they did have a bizarre relationship and he was never sure what kind of title to put on it- he just left it to the gossips to decide, god knows there was enough of them at the college to do that for them.

"It's funny you ask that because I was wondering if you fancied going down to the club tonight? They've got a band on and it's free entry, so I was thinking about checking it out if you're up for it," He offered. "You're always welcome to stay at mine if you need someway to stay afterwards as well- Brothers at Uni now so my Mum just appreciates having people round to keep the volume up," He told her light heartedly twiddling a pen as he spoke. He wasn't quite sure what he liked about Ellie but most of the time he'd rather hang out with her than the guys, she was more intelligent, a laugh and just generally easier to be around and it helped they shared a sense of humour. He supposed he just appreciated she was cool about keeping things as simple as possible and she was different. That was the coolest thing in his opinion but he stopped thinking about when he noticed a certain infamous student make their way over to a table and sit down.

"Shit- is that Bella? She's going to kill Jace isn't she?" He mumbled thoughtfully looking over at Ellie again as he leaned back on the sofa, still trying to sober up a bit apparently and then he sat forward and got a bottle of water out his bag and drank a bit of it. He needed to sort himself out before he had a class, he wasn't totally stoned he just wasn't quite with it and he was counting down the minutes till someone (probably Ellie) took the piss out of him for it.

She grinned as Nate mentioned the prospect of going out. "Nate, when have I ever said no to going out? I'm dying for a night out," she said, lifting her head to look at him. "I'll see how things go tonight, but I'll probably end up in yours. Hell, I might just come over after school and get ready there as well. Your mom is seriously an amazing cook," she said. She spent about half of her time in Nate's house, and she was glad that things were never awkward between them. She'd seriously miss being able to hang out with him if things did ever go bad.

It was as she was leaning her head back again that she noticed Bella. She was kinda friendly with Bella- before Ellie had gotten clean, they'd gotten high together once or twice. Never on heroin, usually just weed. But they were too different to ever really be friends.

"I saw her and Jamie out last night, on a walk. Both of them looked like shit," she whispered. "Do you think they came in together? If not, do you think she knows he's not in?" She continued, looking over at Nate. Part of her wanted to go over and talk to Bella- and part of her wanted to stay here and wait to see what happened. She caught another body entering the room and nudged Nate. "Jace just turned up. This is going to get interesting," she whispered.

He chuckled lightly as she gushed over the idea and he grinned at her nodding softly. "Well the door's always unlocked so just come in when you want to- I'll warn Mum to cook extra then," He told her kindly before running a hand through his hair as he turned around thinking about what a good night it'd probably be- him and Ellie got on like a house on fire, good music, few drinks- he could barely wait. He hadn't gone out properly for ages, the last time he went out was most likely with Ellie so he was pretty hyped up about it if he was honest but he looked over at Bella and then turned his head when Ellie mentioned Jace was here and he swallowed, he was almost anxious and he wasn't even involved in the argument.

"Seriously? Shit, somebody said they saw her at the hospital this morning? What the hell could have happened?" He mumbled back to her quietly, leaning slightly towards her so no one would overhear them, he wasn't gossiping and he was talking more out of concern but he didn't want to get on Bella's (or Jace's) bad side if it got taken the wrong way.

"No. They'd be together now otherwise wouldn't they? They're always together unless she's with well- that knob head," He muttered gesturing to Jace. Nate wasn't a guy to fight- he liked to jokingly insist he was a lover rather than a fighter but it was true, he didn't fight or even argue but even he'd clashed a few times with Jace throughout the years, more often that not defending Ellie or one of his mates admittedly but he couldn't name a guy from school who hadn't got into a fight with Jace, he was just that one guy who was always looking for a punch up. "Shit Ellie," He mumbled biting his lip. He almost felt like he should leave but he figured two things;

1. Knowing Bella which he used to know quite well before she got mixed up with Jace, she'd get close to going to far and someone ought to be around to stop her.
2. She was going to need friends afterwards considering Jamie was totally MIA.

Bella had her earphones in and was quite obviously ignoring two gossiping blondes who were clearly trying to talk to her about Jamie but she didn't even look up at them. She stubbed her joint out on the bin next to the table and then tossed it in there without ever looking at either of the girls who were firing questions at her like there was no tomorrow. She didn't say anything which was weird enough for Bella- she'd always dive in to defend herself or Jamie. She was a fighter, she had spirit and it was hard to believe she was just standing down to this but out of the blue, the girls just suddenly turned around and left Arabella to her peace with nothing more than Pink Floyd for company but she soon found out why.

As some highly unappreciated company walked over to join her with a threatening smirk in the corner of his lips and a victorious expression of smugness behind his eyes. When Bella saw him, her calamity deteriorated into nothing but outrage.

"Hey babe," Jace drawled smoothly but his voice was overwhelmed by the squeal of Bella's chair as she suddenly kicked it back from under her and stood up to face him.

"Are you fucking kidding me? After all the shit the day before yesterday and then what you said in the common room and that god damn text message- you say 'hey babe'?" She scoffed furiously staring at him with devilishly sharp eyes. "Do you just want to get slapped or something? You know. Even if you hadn't tried to push Jamie away from me. Even if you hadn't tried to humiliate my best friend in front of the whole year. I was in hospital yesterday- it was hardly a secret, it was on Facebook before I'd even checked in- thanks to one of your side bitches I think that was and you didn't even text me. Oh wait you did text me, just to remind me of how much of a stupid prick you are," She snapped standing up to him with her held high- she didn't fear for a second, all she could think about was how much he'd tried to hurt Jamie. That's all that dwelled on her mind anymore.

"Bella, calm down- I had no idea anything had happened. Why didn't you call me? And I told Jamie. I told Jamie- he was trying to take you away from me Bells. I didn't want to lose you and he's awful- why do you hang around with him? He must be on all kinds of drugs- he's a headcase, I didn't want him to fuck you up. I guess my tactics were brutal but I had to do it- for you Bella, for us," He tried to put a hand on her shoulder but he was met with a sharp slap as her palm flattened against his cheek harshly, the sound echoed across the room like thunder and Bella just shook her head tearfully at him.

"Don't you dare say that was for me, never even try it," She warned him coldly.

"Bella-"

"We're done Jace. You hear me? We're done. You're dumped, rejected, we're through over, broken up, your single- however you'd like me to phrase it. Poof, gone- us it's gone Jace," She told him sourly. "The slap? That was for cheating on me and just generally being a dick but this, this for Jamie because he's to good a person to do it himself," And with that she swung for him, as if it was the easiest thing in the world she swung her knuckles and hit him flat on the side of his nose and he didn't try and stop her. He swore angrily when the pain kicked in and stumbled around but he didn't retaliate.

"You're such a dumb bitch Bella. Go fuck you're little headcasebut don't come back to me when you get bored with the whole Girl Interrupted mental asylum scene- you're both pyschos," She stared at him but he said nothing else and clenching his nose in his hand he stormed off by this point people had began to swarm and after Bella had punched him two of Jace's friends had taken to holding her back but they let go now and Bella slumped down into her seat trying not to cry from the overwhelming sensation of pure pain and anger.

Ellie wasn't usually one to gossip or get involved in drama- but this was one fight she wanted to see. Jace was a dickhead, and he deserved everything he had coming to him. The entire room went silent as Bella took into Jace, and Ellie found herself biting her tongue to stop herself from cheering when Bella slapped him. She was gobsmacked when Bella punched him- but she would have also been lying if she said that she had never been tempted to do the same.

Jace showed his true colours after that, storming off. People started to talk in hushed tones again, but Ellie's eyes were on Bella. "C'mon," she said to Nate, getting to her feet and retrieving a packet of tissues from her bag. She went over to Bella and perched on the table beside her, holding out the packet of tissues.

"That was incredible," she said. "He's had that coming for a while now. I was tempted to do it myself yesterday, but..." she trailed off, shrugging a little bit. "Jamie's much better for you, I'm just saying. Speaking of which, do you know why Jamie's not in? He looked like shit when I saw him last night," she asked, looking at Bella.

Nate's eyes went wide when he watched Bella but he didn't blame her- he would have stood up and cheered her on if he wasn't so scared of getting beaten up himself. "Fucking hell," He whispered to Ellie as the whole commotion unravelled "Fair play to her man, fair play," He muttered getting up as Ellie encouraged him to and walked over with her. "You're a sassy mother fucker Bella- I'll give you that," He joked lightly, trying to cheer her up a bit as he pat her shoulder and took a seat next to Ellie. "Good punch too," He uttered as he pictured the dodgy angle of Jace's nose as he'd walked out. "He'll be lucky if that's not broken," He complimented calmly, he fell quiet after that out of respect for Arabella because as necessary as it was and as funny as it could be, it couldn't have been easy or fun for her having to fight with him like that so publically. Everyone knew Bella would fight but she didn't pick them, she was like an Alpha she had a pack mentality to protect people and he'd always admired that.

He sat next to Ellie and listened to the two girl's politely and respectfully. "Yeah- Ellie's got a point. Is he coming in today?" He asked curiously running a hand through his hair as he listened to them both converse and Ellie's attempts to justify the girl's actions and manner- not that it was at all needed. He believed everyone in the common room pretty much fully supported everything Bella had just said and done.

"I'm okay, thank you though," Bella told her in reply to the offer of tissues and she bit her tongue and looked up at them her heavily out lined eyes lifting to meet theirs and she laughed gently at Ellie's comment and smiled at her. "Well, you're right there- he certainly had that coming, stupid prick," She mumbled running a hand through her hair and sighing softly. She stiffened at Ellie's comment; Jamie's much better for you . In her head, she was thinking 'I know' but she instantly opened her mouth to insist it wasn't like that. "He was cheating on me and he hurt my best friend. It wasn't like that," She desperately tried to justify herself then clamped her mouth shut. She didn't have to justify this.

She was Arabella Greyson-Swift, she never used to explain herself so why start now? And besides, it kind of was like that.

"Nevermind," She uttered eventually. She looked up in alarm suddenly. "Wait, he's not here? I just assumed he was in class but is he not here at all?" Her hand instinctively went to her phone and she dialled Jamie's number, deciding if he didn't answer she'd sneak off when her lunch break came around to check on him because after what she put him through last night she genuinely felt quite concerned.

Jamie had slept pretty much all morning, glad for the brief respite. But eventually, he had to wake up. When he did, it took him a few seconds to realise what had woken him. His phone was ringing. Running a hand down his face, he reached over to look at it. Bella. She'd probably just found out. She was probably calling for answers he didn't have. He put the phone back on the bedside table and just stared at it, letting it ring. Even if she did come over, everyone else thought he was sick. She probably wouldn't even make it to his bedroom.

He pulled the blanket over his head, but he wasn't going back to sleep any time soon. So he just retrieved his headphones from under his pillow, and once the phone had stopped ringing, plugged his headphones into it and turned the music up as loud as he could bear.

Ellie arched an eyebrow at Bella's insistence that it wasn't like that. She'd had her suspicions about those two for a while now, and the whole thing was just confirming it for her. It evidently took Bella a few seconds to fully register everything Ellie had said, because without warning, Bella was digging for her phone and calling somebody. Presumably Jamie. And she said it wasn't like that?

Ellie glanced over at Nate, raising her eyebrows as Bella was on the phone. Their last year had been relatively devoid of drama, except for one or two incidents. But the past few days had been a completely different beast.

"it's totally like that," Nate whispered to Ellie whilst Bella was on the phone but he said it as if it was totally secret and not at all obvious but Nate had always bed. Then oblivious one- like he was still insistent people hadn't caught on to the fact him and Ellie had fooled around despite the fact that last year most of their friends had been teasing and asking about it but what was there to say about it? Nate looked at Ellie and mischievously smiled at her before mumbling; "I ship it," But to that Bella greeted him with a middle finger as he's obviously been beard.

He smiled sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I tell you want this morning has been like the most drama I've seen since that Carter kid pissed himself and got it on Jen's shoes," He mumbled referring to a high school incident that most kids from college from the local area would recall with disgust.

Bella sighed when he didn't pick up and put her phone away looking to Ellie and Nate apologetically. "I'm sorry. A lot happened yesterday and he took me to hospital, I got discharged this morning and I guess I'm just slightly paranoid because of it. But you two, can shut the fuck up its not like that," She told them and she was being entirely honest until her last sentence passed her lips but she didn't dare admit otherwise- she didn't even know if the whole thing with Jamie was true but she was so desperate to talk to him and suss out where they stood, what was going on and what they should do next. She just wanted to know.

She looked down at the table frowning gently because she remembered she'd also said she'd work tonight just for an hour so a colleague could come in late- she could deal with doing a one hour shift but she just wished it wasn't tonight and that she hadn't forgotten about it to start with. Oh well, she could collect a one hour wage and her tips and then maybe buy something to drink and some cigarettes and go check on Jamie. That was her game plan for the evening and she figured she'd try and get him to come out for a bit- she felt like he was spending way too much ah home at the minute and there was something she was now determined to sort out.

Ellie laughed a little at Nate's comments while Bella was on the phone. She had been able to cover up her first bout of laughter, but not the second. Bella giving her the middle finger just made her giggle more. She was getting a few strange looks from those who had no idea why she was laughing, but Ellie didn't care.

Bella saying she had been in hospital, though, wiped the grin off of Ellie's face. "You were in hospital? What? Why?" She asked. Well, that explained why Bella had looked like shit when Ellie had seen her, but not Jamie. Bella's insistence that it wasn't like that was just making it seem like it was. It sounded oddly like Ellie and Nate insisting there was nothing happening between them, despite the fact that at least half of their friends knew that there was, indeed, something happening between them.

"Tell you what, you should come out with us tonight. It's gonna be great- or, at least, it will be if I get my way," Ellie said, grinning at her and tapping Bella's arm gently.

Nate looked at Ellie and burst out laughing simply because she was and all the judgemental looks she was being given seemed to make it even funnier but like Ellie, his whole expression fell when he caught up with Bella's words "Hospital?" He echoed in shock. "You okay man? I'm sorry- I didn't realise. You do look knackered to be fair, shit I'm sorry," He announced, slightly surprised as Bella stumbled into the trap of rambling but he listened to her and nodded sympathetically when she began to explain. He grinned again at Ellie's words and he nodded along definitely. "I've been meaning to catch up with Jamie anyway- come with us, it'll be such a laugh we're going to the club," He explained. "And yeah like Ellie was saying, it'll be a good night. We always have a blast, few drinks, there's a band on- it'll be fun and by the sounds of it you and Jamie both definitely need to get absolute shit faced wankered and soon," He told her jokingly hoping to bring some positivity to her because it was quite obvious to him she was going through more than enough dark days, she'd always been that kid people distantly worried for but that's only because she was constantly getting herself high, pissed or in some kind of trouble and everyone figured there was some kind of reason behind it.

"You up for it?" He asked after a while of rambling.

Instantly regretting her words, Bella just laughed it off the best she could and spoke with her hands just as much as she did with her mouth as she explained. "Oh you know me- I was stoned and I got the munchies like really bad, so I went downstairs and managed to knock a glass and it exploded everywhere and I cut my stomach on it but it was cool, Jamie took me up there to get stitched up and everything- they only kept me other night because I wasn't sober- I'm such a knob," She rambled through her story and she was so convincing it was sickening, to be fair her story wasn't too far from the truth, she hadn't been sober, the glass had exploded, it had cut her stomach and she had been given stitches and Jamie had taken her- it was just the story behind how the glass actually came to break that was altered and changed but she wasn't going to pour her heart out to Nate and Ellie now about her god awful mother and coward step-father, they didn't care for that so she forgot about it and smiled at them. "But yeah- it'd be really call to come out with you guys. I've got a shift tonight though- just an hour but I'll take an outfit in my bag and get changed afterwards to meet you guys, I'll knock on Jamie to let him know on the way back from college- thanks for inviting me out though, I'll be gagging for a drink by the time I get to my next class after all that shit with Jace," She laughed softly and tried to smile at them both but it didn't quite meet her eyes this time, like there was something missing from her entire expression that made the entire façade tarnished and unrealistic.

Ellie nodded at the story. She got the feeling that they weren't being told everything, but she wasn't going to push it. If Bella was going to tell them the full story, she would have done straight away. It didn't seem fair to push her, especially if she'd had to spend the night in hospital.

"Awesome. We'll head to that club you work in first then, meet you then. And if you have to, drag Jamie out kicking and screaming. That kid looked like he needed to get pissed yesterday. Wait, does he drink?" She said, suddenly recalling one night they'd been out together, or they'd just happened to be out on the same night or whatever. She vaguely remembered offering him a drink- several times- and him turning it down- several times.

"Either way, bring him out. He needs it," she said. She glanced up at the clock on the wall and groaned. "Well, it's been lovely talking to you, but I have to go to class. Bella, you look like shit. Go home, get some sleep. Or, alternatively, go to Jamie's and don't get any sleep," she said, winking at her. "Nate, you coming to class or are you ditching this one as well?" She called as she crossed the room to retrieve her bag.

Arabella scoffed at her and rolled her eyes. "On occasions," She replied dryly avoiding the subject because it was true that Jamie was peculiar about drinking a lot of the time. "But I'll get him out don't worry," She laughed gently before telling her to do one when she started teasing. "I'm gonna stick around here till Lunch- gotta try and do some kind of work, missed the whole day yesterday," She sighed rolling her eyes at herself.

"Anyway fuck off- for the last time, I'm not fucking him nor am I going to besides- keep going and I've got more ammo on you thanks to the lovely Nate here than you do on me," She told her with a teasing smirk. "I'll see you later guys," She waved them both off and then put her earphones back in to work on everything she'd missed the day before and in fairness, she did genuinely seem to be putting the effort in to writing up the notes she'd missed which would shock most people considering who she was but Bella didn't care- doing a bit of work was kind of numbing her guilty conscience for completely taking the piss out of the college she was attending

Nate laughed and patted Arabella's shoulder as he walked past on his way out after Ellie and he picked up his bag and then turned around to look at Ellie smacking her shoulder to get her attention. "Right look me in the eye- am I sober enough yet to get away with it?" He asked looking at her, stretching his eyes wide mockingly and struggling not to smirk at himself in amusement. "But nah seriously- am I gonna get done for it if I go? I don't wanna get caught again after the whole situation last month..." The situation he was referring to was how he started asking his Psychology teacher the conscience of humanoid creatures of less intellectual property than a homosapien and the whole thing got incredibly weird and in short, he got caught for being stoned on school property. In fairness, he got let off incredibly lightly but he wasn't going to risk that again and the more he thought about it, the more he wanted to kick himself for going out and smoking at all.

"Do I? Do I? Ellie, come on- do I?" He asked energetically running his hand through his hair thoughtfully trying to bring things into perspective. He didn't feel too far out of it anymore, in fact he felt more or less like his rarely sober self but the physical effects of being stoned always seemed to last longer than the mental ones.

She simply winked at Bella again as they left. What little dirt Bella did have on them wasn't exactly massive- nobody would be completely surprised to find out about her and Nate. No, Ellie's real secrets were kept close to her heart. Even Nate didn't know them. Appointments with her counsellors and doctors were covered up with dentist appointments and visiting Grandma. If there was one thing she was sure of, it was the security of her secrets.

She laughed at Nate as they headed to class. At first, he'd actually managed to appear sober, if somewhat giddy, but then he gave himself away with the energetic questions. She shook her head. "You almost made me believe you," she said, nudging him in the ribs. "Just keep your mouth shut, and you'll be fine. I'll kick you under the table if you start giving yourself away," she said. When he'd started questioning his teacher about the sentience of other creatures or whatever the fuck he'd been on about, she'd had a doctor's appointment and hadn't been able to shut him up. But she wasn't going to let that happen again.

He groaned dramatically as they walked and he nodded to her thoughtfully. "Sounds like a plan batman- actually no, you're Robin. I take back that comment- I'm the batman in this superhero partnership," He rambled away about that matter but he figured Ellie knew him well enough to this wasn't drug talk this was just Nate being Nate. "What I would do without you hey? You left me for one lesson and just think about how much shit I got myself in," He laughed leaning over to teasingly ruffle her hair and mess it up a bit before grinning at her childishly.

"In all seriousness though- never leave me alone again, hire a babysitter if you have to but don't trust me by myself, not even for ten minutes," He warned her, running a hand through his hair to adjust it and set it in the manner which he preferred then he relaxed again and looked over at her trying not to look to amused, chilled out and just generally stoned.

"Were our assignments due in today?" He mused as ever speaking at a hundreds miles an hour as if he was remembering half a dozen things at once but that's how his brain worked, Nate wasn't an academic guy but he was a thoughtful one and he had so many ideas, wonders, questions and thoughts every single minute that he couldn't finish explaining the first one before he started the next- he was a practical guy, a designer and a craftsman but he was a talker too and that was without mentioning his hyperactivity- it all mixed together to create a charmingly charismatic geeky guy but he was hard to follow but once told to slow down, he'd gladly revise what he'd said before and apologise for his ramblings. He was just prone to getting ridiculously carried away and excitable about things but most people were used to it and blocked out of half of his weird and wonderful mutterings.

She ducked away as he ruffled her hair, running her fingers through it to fix it. If anyone else had tried that, they probably would have received an elbow to the gut, but Nate was the exception. Although, having said that, there was once or twice where she'd come close to punching him over it. She laughed at him asking her to hire a babysitter. Honestly, there were times when he needed a babysitter when he was sober, let alone when he was stoned.

She shook her head as he asked about their assignments. "Nope, due on Monday. I think. I hope, because I don't have them with me. I actually did them in plenty of time, for once," she replied. She had a habit of leaving assignments until the night before, and while she'd never had to pull an all-nighter, she had gone to sleep at 3 or 4 in the morning because her assignments had taken longer than she'd anticipated. They'd been rough nights.

"Oh, wow, we're on time for once," she remarked as she followed the crowd into the classroom. She took their usual seats down the back, taking her usual seat nearest the wall.

Nate had just got home, after school he'd rushed out to buy a few things like deodorant and the new toothbrush he'd been trying to remember to buy all week and obviously- his all important hair gel since he wouldn't last a day without it. He walked into the house and smiled softly, Nate at heart was a really soppy, empathetic and sentimental person and he was grateful too because he was a really fortunate person, his Mother used to cook on TV before retiring to run her restaurant down on the other side of town, she'd recently got her 5 star rating and he'd never seen her so proud and happy and though his Mother and Father had never married (even after twelve years together) they lived together and his father being a dentist, they'd brought a beautiful house on the nice side of town and they all had spacious, modern rooms- they were lucky and Nate knew that despite growing up to be privileged all his life, he'd managed to maintain his down to earth and appreciative character. It was something his Mother would often gush about to his friends or to other family members. But smiling to himself at the thought of catching up with his family and playing with the dog for a bit, he let himself inside and walked into kitchen but was almost thrown back by the German Shepard that bounded on top of him. Nate laughed and hugged the creature patting it's head playfully.

"Hey boy- whatcha doing in the kitchen? Mum will kill you," He turned his head and noticed his Mum was in the kitchen cooking and obviously quite away of the dog and he snickered jokingly. "Ah- I see. You play the cold shoulder when Dad's around but he gets a free card the rest of the time?" He teased gently walking in and swiftly being bombarded by his Mother with kisses and hugs but above all, questions.

"How was your day honey? Please tell me you went to your classes for once," She teased fixing his hair but he swotted her hand away with a warning glare for which she then apologised smiling sheepishly.

"It was cool and yeah of course I went to class, I always do," He replied sarcastically but she only rolled her eyes. "Yeah- is it okay if Ellie joins us for dinner? I think she's going to get ready with me before we go out later, if that's still cool,"

"As long as your room is tidy," She told him pointing as if it made the comment more assertive but the encouragement was far from needed. Nate was an incredibly tidy and almost OCD guy, his books were organised alphabetically and his music was structured by alphabetical artist and then alphabetically by album or single name and his games were ordered chronologically but the series were also done alphabetically- he was incredibly conscious about those things and he was very peculiar about using coasters, it'd be an understatement to say he was extremely tidy. Not many people knew but his wardrobe was colour coordinated as where his school folders. So that was why, he laughed at her comment and nodded and stealing a muffin from the side he grinned at her.

"Always," He winked before waltzing out the door up to his room, the dog followed after him and then laid down under the radiator in his room as Nate put the muffin down and took down for a moment to take a breather. He got out his phone and sent Ellie a quick text.

To El:
Heeeeeeeeeeeeey, dinner is @ 5:30

To El:
So in other words, get your arse over here

And with that text he flopped down on his bed and decided to read for a while until dinner and then he'd get ready when he could abuse Ellie's gender in order to get outfit advice and often not at all constructive criticism.

Bella had only just started her walk home from school, she'd stayed till she got kicked out the library in order to avoid going home but on the walk home she passed Jamie's house like she did every day but she thought about her conversation with Nate and Ellie and this time, she didn't walk pass. She peered up at his window to see if he was there and then uncertain if he was or not, she walked up to the door and tapped it twice with a small tight fist. She text him a couple of times in the day, once to check if he was okay and again to ask him if he felt like coming out for the night but she got a reply to neither of those and was now at a point where she just wanted to hear him speak and say something.

She also really needed to talk to him about school but she was biding her time for that- she couldn't summon the courage nor confidence to bring up the topic with him. She'd pretend she'd deleted Jace's number and all his texts, tell him she'd broken up with him (and probably broken his nose too) and ask him to come out, as friends. She'd tell him she had her hour shift to do and then she'd come join him and Ellie and Nate for drinks afterwards and they could have a really fun night.

That's what she'd tell him.

She found herself checking her hair and her eye make-up in the reflection of the door and then frowned at herself for it. She wasn't supposed to care about that around Jamie but part of her did. She mentally slapped herself and she painted on a brilliant white smile as she looked and waited for someone to open the door.

Jamie wasn't long awake when the knock came at the door. He didn't move from where he lay, waiting for his father to answer the door. After a minute or two had passed and he still hadn't answered it, Jamie rolled his eyes, rolling out of bed. He went to the window to see who it was and if it was worth answering, and was somewhat surprised to see Bella standing there. If she was going to yell at him, then she would have either stormed out of school to yell at him or would have called him to yell at him. He figured he was safe enough- for now, at least.

He pulled on his hoodie to cover his arms and headed downstairs, checking his phone as he did so. She'd sent him a few texts- further confirming that she wasn't pissed with him. They'd obviously come in while he was asleep, because he hadn't been aware of them at all. He just needed to really play the sick card with her so she'd believe him. Considering his mother had basically told him that he looked like shit, he felt like she'd believe him.

He opened the door, wrapping his free arm around his torso. "Hey," he said, feeling the first pangs of anxiety starting to burn in his stomach.

Ellie had just left the house when Nate's text arrived. A letter from her methadone clinic had arrived, and she had an appointment with her doctor the following week. It was after school, though, so she wouldn't have to abandon Nate in class. He'd be glad for that.

To: Nate
I'm on my way! Some of us actually do some homework, you know.

She had her clothes for the night out in her bag, as well as a change of clothes for the following day and her handbag for the night itself. She was all set, and she was looking forward to it. It was going to be a good night, and she was planning on getting pretty drunk.

When she reached Nate's, she knocked at the door. Almost immediately, she could hear their dog barking at the door, waiting to greet her. She braced herself to be ambushed by the German Shepard when Nate opened the door.

She plucked her earphone out of her ear and smiled at him with an energetic quality but that had been lost from her personality since the end of last year. "Hullo- so, since you failed to respond to my text messages, as punishment I'm taking away your choice but to come out with myself, the lovely Ellie and the less lovely Nate and quite frankly- I need to get pissed but I don't trust Nate or Ellie to make sure I don't get myself into trouble within the process of that, and I'd like to hang out with my favourite human being so pretty please, come out with us?" She rambled without giving him a chance to interject because she knew he'd talk his way out of coming and she really wanted the opportunity to spend some time with him, just so they could have laugh because she was sick of everyone being so miserable lately and she knew she was just as guilty as everybody else but she couldn't stand it- she cared about him too much to let him wallow in his moods, that's why she'd swung for Jace's nose. She really wasn't prepared to let people bring him down anymore and let him feel shitty all the while and she could see it, he put on a good show but Arabella wasn't stupid her sixth sense was as hyper intellectual as she was and if she put the time into school, she'd make one hell of a psychologist one day but she didn't and her options were quickly disappearing.

"What do you say? You can grab some clothes- get ready with me at mine because my Mum's at work and obviously step-dad is long gone, so we can get ready and go meet them there. I promise it'll be fun and if you're having a shit time, I'll even pay for your cab," She promised him gently, desperate to persuade him to come out with them for a bit.

When he heard the door bell he rushed to get the door before his Mum did but she stopped him in his track at the staircase.

"Nate, tell me one thing. What's going on with you and Ellie?" She asked curiously. "Are you guys...y'know..." Nate cringed and shook his head.

"No Mum, now please- not now and actually, not ever. That was about the cringiest thing you've ever said," He told her before swinging on the bannister on his way down the stairs to answer the door and predictably the dog bounded affectionately towards Ellie and Nate greeted with her boyish grin. "Ellie!" He chimed childishly. "Welcome back to the mad house," He joked softly before whistling lowly so the dog would relent from licking Ellie and walk obediently to Nate's side.

Nate's Mum smiled fondly at Ellie and chuckled, before instinctively apologising for the dog even though Ellie had been round thousand of times and knew exactly what to expect from the loving and affectionate hound. "How are you dear? Feels like we haven't seen you for ages," She chimed warmly but when Nate arched his brow at her she refrained from irritating the two. "Oh I'm sorry- I'm embarrassing Nate aren't I dear? I'll go be middle aged on my own," She joked dramatically dismissing herself after Nate rolled his eyes at her antics.

"I'm sorry. Though I guess you must be used to it by now. I swear she loves you more than me," He told her before leading the way casually upstairs and holding all the doors for her as he always did.

With the speed Bella took into talking, he mustn't have looked as shit as he felt. Either that or she was choosing to ignore it. He knew straight away that he wasn't going to get a word in edgeways, so he just leaned against the door and let her speak. He really didn't feel like going out- he just wanted to keep sleeping. He felt better after those extra seven or eight or whatever hours of sleep, and he didn't want to ruin that.

But Bella seemed to really want him to come out. And he didn't particularly trust Ellie or Nate to look after her- not after the week she'd had. They'd probably all end up passed out drunk somewhere, or do something stupid, or both. As she talked, he realised that she must have been in school- and she must have known. But she wasn't saying or doing anything.

He opened the door wider to let her in. "Alright, I'll come out with you. But let me get dressed first, I only got out of bed to let you in," he said, stepping back and closing the door behind her.

And sure enough, as soon as she opened the door, the German Shepard was on top of her, being its usual over-friendly self. She just laughed at him, but was glad when Nate whistled to get him off of her.

"If this is the madhouse, then god knows what my house is," she replied, grinning at him. "And hello, Mrs. Carlile! Yeah, it feels like ages since I was last round. I've missed your cooking!" She said, ignoring Nate's comment. She never minded any of this- she was used to it.

"Well, that's not hard- I'm just naturally lovable," she said, shrugging a little and nudging him. "You, on the other hand..." She winked at him, charging ahead to his bedroom. It was as familiar as her own bedroom. She'd spent so much time here, she knew where everything was. She threw herself down on the bed, spreading herself out so there wasn't any room for him to even sit down. She grinned at him from that position.

Nate rolled his eyes at Ellie and his Mother but it did bring a genuine smile to his face, Ellie was his best friend and Nate was a total 'Mummy's boy' so as sad as it was, it did genuinely lighten his mood to see them both getting along together and chatting away not that he ever cared to admit but he figured they probably worked it out- he was as soft as butter and that was no secret. Nate scoffed dramatically flailing his arms and pretending to be hurt by her comment and creating a big gesture with his hands. "Hey, that was uncalled for," He told her and before holding her gaze for a moment cockily and winking at her after uttering the words; "You know you love me," teasingly before sticking his tongue out at her childishly and flopping down into his desk chair since he'd stolen his entire bed.

"Jumping in to my bed as usual then Els," He joked before pretending to cover himself from abuse half expecting her to jump up and punch him for the crude sense of humour but he was only doing it to wind her up a little, it's what they always did. He spun in his desk chair for a moment to face his desk and he neatly tucked his satchel under the desk folding the strap so it was piled perfectly in order without any fault.

Turning again, his eyes ran analytically over his room to check for flaws and short comings but it was as immaculate as ever and he grinned happily. "For a stoner, professional procrastinator and hard core gaming womanizer," He listed theatrically with a joking smirk. "I'm good at hiding my slothfulness,"

She smiled in victory and followed himself inside and as the stood in the hall she looked up at him, her expression calming from the eccentric energy to something very honest and genuine. "Hey," She uttered to keep his attention for a second. "Thank you," She added in a quiet tone of voice offering up a light but sincere smile alongside her words. She followed him inside pulling her long unruly curls down one shoulder as she followed him inside. "And, I'm sorry I woke you up. That was kind of shitty of me and I'm sorry but I'll make up for it- that's a vow," She told him trying to brighten his mood because she knew- she could see he felt pretty bad and she'd admit he looked it to but she wanted to turn that around, there wasn't a person in the world who meant more to her so she'd made it her mission for the evening to get a genuine laugh and smile out of him before the night was over. She just wanted him to know that even though things had suddenly gotten really weird and complicated, she was still there- she wasn't going to run away or abandon him, even if the rumours were true she was going no where but Bella had never been too amazing with her words when it came to her emotions and honesty about herself and her feelings, so she avoided it and instead plotted a way of showing rather than telling.

Jamie shook his head, grinning at Bella. "Bella, I'm joking. I was awake before you came over. But, to make up for making me get out of bed, you can buy me a drink tonight," he teased gently. "C'mon, I need to get dressed," he said, turning and heading back up the stairs. Luckily enough, his room wasn't in too much of a state, and all evidence of last night's meltdown had been tidied up once it was over. Just in case his parents had wandered in.

He retrieved a clean pair of jeans and a t-shirt from his closet and slung them over my arm. "I'll get changed in the bathroom. Make yourself at home, and try not to fall over the extension lead," he said, heading back out to the bathroom. As he was getting changed, he caught sight of his reflection in the mirror. The cuts on his arms and legs, old and new, stood out starkly against his skin. Even those which had faded to white scars stood out from his skin. They were ugly and further confirmation that nobody else could ever see them. He continued to get dressed, wanting to have them covered up as soon as possible.

Once he was done, he headed back out to his bedroom, where he leaned against the wall. "You're seriously going back to that house after what she did to you?" He asked. That wasn't just a slap- that was full on assault, and Jamie hated the thought of Bella living in that environment any longer.

At his comment about her jumping into his bed, Ellie didn't react. She waited until he'd made the comment about his cleanliness, before hurling one of his pillows at his head. She smirked at him, sitting upright and crossing her legs. "Professional womaniser my ass. We all know I'm your one and only," she teased. She'd thought about how Nate having a girlfriend would make her feel, and the only thing she could say was... complicated. She didn't like the thought of it, but she didn't want to think too hard about why.

Sometimes, she felt bad about keeping secrets from Nate- about her constant fear of everyone she loved dying, about her dodgy eating habits- and especially about the whole methadone thing. But the thought of somebody knowing that much about her scared her. Nate was her best friend, and she was pretty damn sure that he wouldn't tell anyone or use it against her- but the thought of it still made her uneasy. She was sure that he had his secrets too, and that was how she justified all of her secrets.

"So, what's your mom cooking for dinner?"

She laughed gently when she realised he'd been kidding and caught herself in the act of approaching the extension lead when he made his comment and made a perfect 'o' shape with her mouth as she dramatically stepped over it before she shrugged off his comment. "I promised you a drink anyway so, first round is on me," She told him brightly running her hand through her hair to keep it from her eyes. Whilst Jamie was in the bathroom, she tumbled into the same chair she always curled up in and lazed around on when she came over- same chair, same place and she always seemed to throw her legs over the left arm so she could see everything going on in the rest of the room. The exact same thing every time it was a natural habit but she didn't consider it a bad one.

She'd been pinching the skin of her arm as he walked in, frowning at one little was left. She hadn't noticed the weight loss happening over the summer but she could tell now, there was basically nothing to pinch and her clothes didn't fit the way they used to, everything seemed to hang slightly on her slender frame. She sighed and then stopped herself, quickly letting go of her arm as she heard Jamie behind her.

Her expression fell slightly and she bit her tongue, staying quiet for longer than she should have whilst she picked her words. "I have little choice Jamie...I have no other family, My Dad- fuck knows who and where he is, I've got no money- I have a job but I'd have to leave college to fund myself enough to pay rent and you're the only friend I've got in this godforsaken town. After college I'm on the first train out of this shit hole but till then I'm fucked. It's not abnormal anyway- she's been unloving and sour since I was born, she's been violent since I was 16, it's only become a big deal now because I couldn't hold it together. It doesn't atter anymore now than it did then- I just need to finish college," She mumbled defensively. She didn't like talking about this, she didn't like having to tell him the miserable details of her life- she didn't want sympathy or for him to feel bad, that's why she never told him much about it but she couldn't gloss over it anymore. There were bruises on her neck and stitches in her flesh- she couldn't turn into make believe anymore. It was real. She was talking about it and that made it feel all too real to her. "I swear- with you not around in the summer, the only reason I smiled for the whole what three four months I didn't see you was marijuana but it's fine. It's all fine. Can we just get to mine so I can put a dress on and then get out? She'll be at work if we get there before the hour is up,"

He laughed and caught the pillow she chucked at him, admittedly surprised he'd gotten away his bed joke but he just tossed the pillow back at her playfully and grinned teasingly at her; "Of course you are Ellie my darling," He replied faking a posh voice but being as well spoken as he was it was hard to find much of a difference between the two tones. He smiled at her and then as soon as she'd sat up, he hurled himself onto the bed and took his rightful place next to the bed post leaning against the wall it ran parallel too. "It looked like Carbonara from what I saw, so no complaints from me," He announced with his usual boyish smirk as he rest his hands under the back of his head leaning back and relaxing as he kicked his shoes off and then used his feet to poke the two shoes to lay next to each other as neatly as he could manage without getting up, side by side- he smiled half proud of his effort and then relaxed again looking over at Ellie with a soft and dopey expression.

He almost envied Ellie, she was so clever, likable and calm- she made it look easy as if it came naturally to her, what 'it' referred to he wasn't totally sure but she had that quality and he admired it, being the unintelligent, dorky and hyperactive weirdo he was- he'd always wandered how they could be so polar in some aspects of their character but still click and get on so well all the while. He appreciated it though, there probably wasn't anything he appreciated more than his relationship with Ellie and one thing, many people would have to give him credit for is that he didn't take his friends, relative or circumstances for granted- he was always incredibly down to Earth even if he was a bit of an air head.

It wasn't all fine, and Jamie knew that. He'd abandoned her, all while he thought he'd been protecting her. If she'd been to school, she had to have found out. But she wasn't saying anything, and he wished she would. He was constantly waiting for her to say something.

"Alright, just let me grab a change of clothes and we can go," he said, going back to his closet. He retrieved his school bag and emptied its contents onto the floor, shoving a pair of jeans and a shirt into it, along with a clean pair of Vans. "So, did I miss anything at school? Anything happen while I was gone?" he asked casually.

Even as Nate lay back on the bed, he had to leave his shoes standing together. She rolled her eyes, but grinned nonetheless. She moved to sit beside him. "One of these days, I'm going to sneak in here and completely upend it. And then hide in your closet or something to see your reaction," she teased, smirking at him. They were two sides of the same coin, her and Nate. She'd never had this kind of relationship with anyone else, and she didn't think she ever would. She was pretty sure that they'd end up in the same nursing home, Nate still smoking weed, and her still determined to mess up his stuff as much as possible.

"So, how many clubs are we going to try and hit tonight?" She asked. She wouldn't consider it a good night unless they made it to at least three. There were some nights when the only reason they'd gone home was because nowhere else was letting anyone in, so they'd stayed up to watch the sun rise.
