Zach mightn't be the most "put together" of people. His dark, curly hair is often a little unruly, a little longer than is ideal, and the most styling it ever gets is him throwing it into a ponytail while he's working. He tends to just wear t-shirts and jeans, with a leather jacket replacing his usual hoodie if he feels fancy. But there's something about him that means he pulls it off. With the exception of his hair, he's always neat and tidy. His t-shirts are always clean, if a little faded on occasion, and he even does his best to tame his hair. He scrubs up pretty well for the work events, switching to button downs and dress pants.
At 6'0" almost exactly, he's a little taller than average, but doesn't always appear it, as he has a tendency to slouch a little. He's got big, expressive dark brown eyes that often give away what he's really thinking when he tries to hide it with his expressions. He has a small tattoo of "stay safe" in his dad's handwriting on his inner forearm as a reminder to himself, but otherwise has no tattoo or piercings.
Zach adores his family. It's why he does everything he can to help them out. This brother and sister are his life, and he'd throw himself in front of a bullet for them. They're what keep him going at the end of the day. Seeing the delight on their faces when he's made enough money to buy them a small treat, and the disappointment when they have to go without, it motivates him to put himself in danger day after day. His mom and him clash from time to time due to the levels of stress they're both under, but the love is still there and still present. She never had to ask him to step up after his dad died, he just did it without a second thought. He's got a wicked sense of humour beneath the stress, and always appreciates sarcasm. He can take it as good as he gives and has no shame in that.
Deep down, though, Zach is also deeply lonely. Considering he spends most of his time with a nine and a seven year old, it probably isn't surprising that he craves the company of people his own age. His job at the venue is mostly a cover, but he also enjoys getting out of the house and interacting with new people. He wants to let somebody in so badly, but just isn't sure that he can, that he can just let someone in like that. He has too many secrets, and his family has to come above all else. He's worked too hard to put it all at risk, especially for something as foolish as love.
Zach's parents met when they were teenagers. A whirlwind romance, they'd only known each other for a few weeks when his father proposed. But they both knew at the time that it was real, so his mother said yes. They got married, and nine months later, along came zach. It was a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. Zach was loved so much. They didn't have much, but it was enough. They'd always said that they wanted more than one kid, so they started trying again when Zach was five. However, it seemed that they were unsuccessful, and it wasn't like they could afford the expensive fertility treatments and technology. They had all but given up. Then, when Zach was thirteen, his mother found out she was pregnant again. His brother, Christian, was born, and two years later, along came Isabella. It was the perfect happy family. And then when Zach was eighteen, just graduating high school, his father was killed in a tragic, freak workplace accident. Zach's dreams of higher education were shattered as he took up the mantle of looking after his family. His mother took more and more hours. Nobody seemed to want to give him a job. All along, he'd had an interest in tech, so while looking after his siblings or while they were at school, he taught himself vital skills.
Originally, he really intended on staying legit, maybe being able to offer IT skills to high paying clients. But at some point, he stumbled onto a forum for hackers and that was it. There was more money, even if it was more dangerous. And so Zach was a hacker by the age of twenty, doing secretive jobs for high paying clients and breaking into the rich's bank accounts himself. He never took more than he needed, but was good enough to keep under the radar. Even as he steals money for himself, he has rules. He only takes from those who have more money than they'll ever really need, and all of it goes towards his family. His tech skills also came in useful as he finally managed to secure a job within the building itself. All of the events, the big parties the higher floors would throw, all of them had equipment that needed to be maintained, that needed to be fixed and calibrated to work perfectly, and then supervised during the parties themselves to make sure nothing went horribly wrong. And Zach was the perfect candidate, able to work it all with ease. Most of the work was either in the evenings when his mom would be coming home or else during the day when his siblings were at school. It was perfect, and excused the fact that they now had more money than his mom was making. It was the perfect solution. Zach's been balancing everything for two years now, and he's been flying under everyone's radar. His family is relatively happy and safe, and that makes it all worth it.
