Cailean and Felinus Drusus

Felinus Drusus

Image
Age: "I know I know, I look older. . ." Seventeen
Personality: "I'm the smart one. . ." Felinus is actually very intelligent. He always thinks about what his actions with consequent to and he will always be aware of all his surroundings. Let's say it's been a habit ever since he lost his eye. He is the guy that has good grades and doesn't pick fights unless necessary. He a nice guy but very mysterious and intimidating so he doesn't really have many friends and usually stays with his twin brother, Cailean.
A good part about Felinus it that if you're having problems he will try and help you in any way that will never cause you more problems, but the bad part about Felinus is that he never seems to be listen to people when their talking to him. His mind seems to be somewhere else because he looks away or sometimes appears to be talking to himself.
Dream Crush: "For now, there is no one special. . ." TBA
Skills: "I have many skills, I think. . ." Felinus is a very fast thinker, he's street smart, which means he can react rapidly to something and figure out solutions with only a tooth pick and chewing-gum at his disposal. He get's good grades because he is very logical and always knows the difference between absurd and true. He's also a very good fighter, he's not really strong but he can use someone's brute strength against them and just like that he is able to bring down a two hundred pound person.
Image
Theme Song: "You hear that melody, isn't it fascinating? . . ."Mark Petrie - Prophecy Fulfilled
Other: "If you really want to know. . ." Felinus' name means cat and he is the smart and calm one of the two brothers. Also, he lost his eye one day when he was walking on a high wall with his brother. He tripped on the side and fell on a piece of glass which rendered his eye unusable.

Cailean Drusus

Image
Age: "Well, twins means the same age but just so you know, I was born first. . ." Seventeen
Personality: "I'm the strong one. . ." Cailean, unlike his brother is pure brute strength, he is terrible at school and is constantly in a fight. Sometimes though, he can be surprisingly smart but that is very rare. If anything, Cailean is very protective of the people he find close to him. No one understands how Cailean and Felinus get a long so well because they are completely different but everyone knows that if you hurt Felinus you will be severely beaten by Cailean.
Although most people see him as the stupid, fighting monster that sleeps during class and walks in the halls with a frightful expression, Cailean can be very caring towards people. If you get to know him he actually is more like a nice big brother who cares for the weaker and only wants to protect, but to protect he needs to be stronger, at least that's how his mind works.
Dream Crush: "Even if I did have a crush, who in the world wouldn't be afraid of holding the hand of a fighter? . . ." TBA
Skills: "You might want to take a few steps back as I demonstrate. . ." Cailean has strength beyond imagination. If he lays a punch on someone there is no way that he won't go back home without a nice big bruise. but Cailean is not only strong, he is also very fast and knows how to mix up his steps to confuse his adversary and have the upper-hand.
There is also a skill that no one would even think he could have. Cailean is a wonderful cook.
Image
Theme Song: "You hear that, I hum it as I bash your head into the wall. . ."TRUSTcompany - Downfall
Other: "Some things are better for you not to go spreading them around school because I know who you are. . ." Cailean's name means dog. He hold's the loss of his brother's eye as his fault even though it wasn't. Also, Cailean wears bandages around his neck all the time because when he was six years old he was bitten by a rattle snake when he had left with his family on a trip to the desert and then he had made a tattoo of a rattle snake around his neck when he turned sixteen but he doesn't like showing people his memory of that day, so only Felinus knows about the tattoo.

Jessica slowly woke up from whatever she was in. A coma, a dream, maybe just a nap. She slowly sat up, feeling sore in every muscle. When her eyes adjusted to the little amount of light there was, she saw a forest of trees that surrounded her. Jessica stood up, but she was woozy. She leaned against a tree to hold herself up. Otherwise she might've fallen. Now all she remembered was talking with her others group members about their project. When Jessica looked around, she saw them unconscious on the ground or whatever they were. Coma? Dream? Jessica made her way to them and just stood over them, curiosity racking her brain, trying to find and explanation. She knelt down next to Felinus and poked his face a couple times, to see if he would wake up.

"Fel... Felinus..." Jessica whispered in a raspy tone. Her voice wouldn't come out... maybe she lost it. She didn't care right now. She continued to poke Felinus' face. Hoping he'd wake up. Jessica remembered a way to wake up Stryker. If you stare at her long enough, she'll wake up. Or was Jessica confusing that with someone else. Jessica stared at Stryker, while poking Felinus in the face. Hoping one of them would wake up.

Felinus Drusus

His head was aching. It was dark and something was poking his cheek. He tried to remember if he had fallen asleep in class or maybe if he had just dreamed that he was in class. . . Everything was so confusing. . . Wait. . . Cailean! If he had knocked him out again and was poking at his cheek Felinus was going to get very pissed off.
"Fel... Felinus..." That wasn't Cailean's voice, that was Jessica's.

He opened his eyes and to his most utter shock he was in the forest with Jessica poking at his cheek and staring at Stryker. Whatever was going on, Felinus was deeply hoping it was a dream. He looked around to see where Cailean was and he found him lying on his back stretched out on the ground with his jacket wide open an his shirt pulled up. Cailean had this bad habit of undressing himself as he slept.
"Cailean, get the fuck up!" Felinus slapped his head and then turned to Jessica, "What's going on?"

Cailean Drusus

What a beautiful dream, he was beating up a whole gang of ugly guys in a back alley and he was doing it so easily. He threw punches and kicks, he flew in the air and bashed the guy into walls but then his wonderful dream was interrupted when someone slapped him on the head.
"You want a piece of me!" He jumped onto his feet and then noticed his brother with two other girls, "Felinus, I told you that if you were in that sort of mood you do it on your own."

Stryker moaned. She felt hard ground on her back. Where was she? "Cailean, get the fuck up!" said someone. Who could that be? Stryker recognized the voice as Felinus's. "What's going on?" Felinus said to someone.

She opened and her eyes and immediately saw a dark shadow staring at her. Stryker screamed and got up. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness, and as soon as they did she noticed that the shadow that had scared her was only Jessica.

"Jessica you lose-!" Stryker began, but was interrupted when Cailean, Felinus's twin brother, said, "You want a piece of me!" Cailean jumped to his feet, looking as if he was ready to start a fight. He took a quick glance at the other three, then looked at his brother. "Felinus, I told you that if you were in that sort of mood, you do it on your own." said Cailean. Stryker smiled and giggled, but stopped when she took notice of the tall, dark trees surrounding them.

"Where the hell are we?" Stryker whispered, looking around. The last thing she remembered was making fun of Jessica, then after that everything when black. Did someone kidnap them? All Stryker knew was that she was stuck with "losers", people she barely talked to in school who the teacher paired her up with for a project, in a seemingly vast forest.

"I don't know. I woke up... and found myself here. I suspect that we are in a forest, but not one of the ones near where we live. This forest if different. It's... too quiet." said Jessica. Stryker rolled her eyes. Every forest is dark, stupid, Stryker said in her mind. Or were they? Who cares. "What do you mean by 'that sort of mood'?" continued Jessica. Stryker giggled. What a loser, she thought.

Cailean Drusus

He put on a cocky smile and got closer to Jessica, "Of course you don't understand but that would be because you're an innocent virgin."
Cailean giggled but then his brother punched him in the gut, not hard but in a soft spot so Cailean bent in two and gave his twin brother the finger.

Sure, Cailean was an aloof sort of guy but when the pain left him he realized why his brother had asked Jessica that question. They were in a very odd forest. Yes, the forest had trees like any other, but Jessica was right, there was something different about this particular forest.

"I don't know. I woke up... and found myself here. I suspect that we are in a forest, but not one of the ones near where we live. This forest if different. It's... too quiet," said Jessica.

"Is this some sort of a joke the others wanted to make on us," Cailean balled up his fist, "When I see them again they're going to be in for a big beating."

Felinus Drusus

He took Jessica's explanation to account and stayed silent to see what she mean. It was so quiet that apart from his brother's incessant bantering he could only hear that irritating buzzing in his ears. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he suddenly felt like this wasn't just any forest.

"Is this some sort of a joke the others wanted to make on us," His brother was getting angry, again, "When I see them again they're going to be in for a big beating."

"I don't think this is a forest people would put us in as a prank," said Felinus, he had that look, the one he always had when he was thinking hard, "plus, how could they have put us in a comatose state when we were studying together for the project in the middle of class? Why put us together? The only connections here are my brother and I, but other than that we don't get along."
Felinus was getting laying out some questionable theories but none of them seemed to have an answer. . .

Stryker gaped at Jessica as she fearlessly grabbed Cailean's groin and talked bad about it. She walked off, leaving Stryker with the twins. She turned her head towards the ground and saw her pom poms and notebook. She kicked the notebook away and picked up her pom poms.

The forest was quiet. Unnaturally quiet. It was as if someone was always watching them. Stryker's skin formed goosebumps as she heard a twig snap somewhere near. She shook her head, refusing to let nature give her the chills.

"Alright double losers," Stryker put her hands on her hips and glared at the twins. "We need to get out of this place, obviously. I'm expecting you two to get me out of here. Forget about Jessica, she could rot here for all I care." she said.

Cailean Drusus

"We were working on the same school project, remember. It must have something to do with that," Jessica said.

Cailean just stood there looking at his brother in a pensive mood but then Jessica walked toward him and grabbed his crotch. He would usually smack who ever dared to touch his dick but this was a girl and a girl he did not expect would to that, "By the feel of it, it seems it's only 5 inches. Average is 7. You on steroids? I hear it shrinks the size of you dick."

When she let go of Cailean's family jewels he just started to laugh and then called after her when she started to leave, "You're feisty! That's good, but you really shouldn't insult a man's dick," he stared her in the eyes with that glare he gave to all of the people he sent off running, "And you know, it's not the size that counts, it's the pleasure that makes it worth while."

Felinus Drusus

He completely ignored what happened between his brother and Jessica but he did almost tell Jessica, "You don't have the hand to feel it out, my brother's at nine inches," but he decided not to say it.

Then he realized that Jessica was right, the only connection they had was being in the same science group but why would anyone hold any grudges against all of them. Someone holding a grudge against Cailean was not uncommon, but Jessica had done nothing and Stryker was a cheerleader who probably only had enemies with some people but since she was popular no one would dare hurt her. . . maybe. . .

Felinus watched as Jessica went further in but something told him it was best not to leave her, "Cailean, get the pom pom girl, we can't be separated. And by the way Stryker, right now, is not the time to call us losers because who knows what might happen to you if we suddenly decide that we don't want some stupid pom pom chick with superiority issues with us."

After that he followed behind Jessica with his brother as well.

"Cailean, get the pom pom girl, we can't be separated. And by the way Stryker, right now, is not the time to call us losers because who knows what might happen to you if we suddenly decide that we don't want some stupid pom pom chick with superiority issues with us." said Felinus. Stryker gasped. She's never been talked to like that ever. Wanting to tell Felinus off very badly, Stryker suddenly realized that he was right. Now was not the time to get in a fight with anybody.

"Whatever." said Stryker. She looked around once more before following the twins who were after Jessica. After a short while of wandering around the forest, Felinus, who was in front of Stryker, stopped. What was it this time?

"Um, hello? Did you forget how to walk?" said Stryker, leaning out to see what Jessica was doing at the front. She was just standing there, observing something. Jessica took a step forward and screamed. Backing up, Jessica tripped on a tree root and stayed on the ground, her breathing audible from where Stryker was standing.

"Jessica! I bet it was just a leaf or someth-" began Stryker, but she cut herself off when she saw a figure somewhere off in the distance. The figure was tall, with monstrously long legs. Stryker stopped her breathing and took a step back. The figure seemed to evaporate in the air. Then it reappeared, slightly closer.

"Felinus...Cailean...do you see that?" whispered Stryker. She held onto Felinus's arm, not caring what he thought of it. Her heart was beating unbelievably fast. What was going on?

Felinus Drusus

When Jessica yelled Felinus' attention was immediately drawn to what she had seen. A tall thin man with limbs of inhuman lengths, if Jessica hadn't yelled he probably would have mistaken him for the shadow of a tree. Felinus got goosebumps all over his body and then he felt a hand grip onto his, it was Stryker's.
Not going to call it a loser? Felinus tried to joke around in his mind but he couildn't possibly tell that to Stryker when she had such a frightened expression.

Cailean had rushed to Jessica's side but then they all ended up just staring at the thin, dark man.

"Felinus...Cailean...do you see that?" whispered Stryker.

"If I was to tell you no then I would be a liar," answered Felinus.

Cailean Drusus

He walked behind Stryker who followed his brother and Jessica. The dead branches and leaves crunched under their feet but then something happened. Jessica screamed. Cailean was much too familiar with girl screams and that one was a full blown real I-completely-freaked-out scream.

He pushed Stryker aside slightly to get to Jessica who was on the floor staring at something but Cailean went to see if she was okay first before looking at his brother who was also paralyzed. Cailean saw what attracted everyone's attention and he too couldn't believe his eyes when he saw it.

"Yeah," said Cailean answering to Stryker's question, "And I'm pretty sure I have 10 on 10 vision," he then turned to Jessica who was still in shock to he pulled her onto her feet but kept holding her in case she would fall, "Come on, get up."

Cailean Drusus

Jessica took him by surprise when she stuffed her head in his chest and started to madly whisper about the figure coming to kill us. Cailean instinctively put his arms tightly around her and calmed her by repeating how everything was going to be alright even though he too could see the figure moving closer and not seemingly friendly.
"Felinus, any ideas would be nice to be shared right now," said Cailean as his insisted on the sharing.

"Jessica, shut up! He won't kill us if we do something instead of standing here like morons!" said Stryker, "We have to run."

"I'll have to agree with Stryker on this one," said Cailean, "I say we break for it."

Felinus Drusus

The three people behind him were all in a panic and Felinus tried his best to stay calm but the creature was quite impressive and truthfully frightening. He gripped Stryker's hand even tighter but payed no attention to her reaction to it because she was holding his hand just as hard.

Both Stryker and his brother were insisting and running. They were right but somehow, Felinus couldn't move, he felt his legs emptied of all their strength and the words at the tip of his tongue were stuck. It was only when the slim man vanished in smoke then reapeared much closer than before did Felinus call the start of a sprint for you dear life, "RUN!"

Just like that, Felinus took of in a sprint pulling Stryker behind him and he noticed Cailean a few trees away running with Jessica almost holding the poor terrified girl. When Felinus looked back the slim man was still after them. . . What was this madness?

Felinus Drusus

He kept running fast not daring to look back but then Stryker tripped. Felinus saw as the stick like man apporached her but before he could reach her she had already dashed off.
"Stryker! Don't get separated!"

He went after her and then saw that Jessica had tried to catch up with Stryker as well but Felinus had gotten further. He could see Stryker's back and her ponytail swaying back and forth. Then she suddenly disappeared. Felinus kept running, he needed to find her, he couldn't leave a helpless girl alone in an obviously dangerous place.
"Stryker!" He yelled at the top of his lungs looking around the forest seeing no one.

He had been separated from his brother and from Jessica and Stryker was gone.

Cailean Drusus

When Jessica ripped away from his arms he immediately went after her. Before she could get too far from him he grabbed her wrist and made sure not to let go of it. He noticed his brother running after Stryker and then he saw the tall thin man coming in closer on Jessica and him.
"Felinus will find her and we'll find each other," said Cailean as he pulled her with him, "We're twins after all, we know how we think."

Cailean wasn't lying, him and his brother could know exactly what the other was thinking without even exchanging a glance. But right now, Cailean wanted to get away from that monster so he dragged Jessica with him and kept running far away taking rights and lefts no caring where he was going as long as it was away from the monster.

Cailean Drusus

His one goal was set on running, getting away, he didn't care how long her had to sprint he was in perfect shape in any case. Unlike his brother, he didn't smoke.
"I don't see him anymore... hah... Can we stop running?" Jessica was half falling to the ground.

She was out of breath but Cailean still refused to let her hand go or feel safe. He had that fighters instinct, the instinct that your never safe so he looked around. He couldn't see the slender man but he knew that it was somewhere and that eventually they would see it again. But then he turned his attention to Jessica who has literally falling apart.
"Alright, just sit down and sleep a bit if you want," said Cailean as he helped her to the ground near a tree, "I'll keep watch."

Felinus Drusus

"Felinus!" it was Stryker's voice, "Cailean! Jessica!"

"Stryker!" He called out again and made his way to where he had heard the voice come from.

He had to find her, there was no way he was leaving a helpless girl out in such a dangerous forest even if she was a bitchy pom pom girl. He finally saw her on her knees with her hair undone.
"Stryker," he said it more soothingly and the got to her, "Don't ever run away like that again."

He put his hands on her shoulders and out of impulse he hugged her. Maybe he was glad that he saved her, maybe he was just so tired and confused that a hug made him feel better or maybe he just didn't want her to be afraid.

"Not sleepy... just exhausted, Cailean." Jessica breathed heavily, trying to catch her breath desperately. She never did any exercise, and yet she was very thin. Exercise and her did not mix. No strength, stamina, or agility. Nothing. Jessica leaned against a tree to help her stand up straight. "I can't run for too long...."

Jessica sank to the ground, her legs too weak to hold her body up any longer. She ran a hand through her thin pink hair and sighed. "I don't think I can do this if all we are going to be doing is running from this thing."

"Oh, so your responsible for me now?" Stryker giggled a little bit which enlightened Felinus' worries from him.

"Yes, I am responsible for you," he answered as they slowly got out of the hug.

"Where's your brother? Where's Jessica?" Asked Stryker.

"I don't know exactly where they are, but I'm sure they're together and it'll be a piece of cake to find them," Felinus knew that if he just walked around thinking about his brother they would eventually get back together.
When they were young and got separated, far or not, they would always find each other. Mostly because Felinus knew exactly how his brother's simple mind worked.

"Come on let's go," said Felinus as he got up and extended a hand toward Stryker with a nice smile on his face.

Cailean Drusus

"Not sleepy... just exhausted, Cailean." Jessica was breathing heavily, Cailean wished he could do something for her but there wasn't much else he could except for holding her up so she wouldn't collapse, "I can't run for too long...."

Cailean started to worry about her, if she couldn't run too long and if there was a monster coming after us, it was going to be a problem. He observed her. She was thin but had no muscles, no seeming stamina and probably no agility. She had spent way too much time behind her books.

"I don't think I can do this if all we are going to be doing is running from this thing."

"Maybe you can't but I can," Cailean crouched down and turned his back towards her indicating for her to climb on, "I can run with you on my back and since you're tired right now and we need to move, I'll carry you."

"I don't know exactly where they are, but I'm sure they're together and it'll be a piece of cake to find them." said Felinus. Stryker raised an eyebrow. How is it gonna be a piece of cake? She glanced at Felinus, who was having a small thought while looking at a tree.

"Come on, let's go." Felinus stood and smiled as he offered Stryker a hand. She gave a small smile back, and left her remaining pom pom on the ground. "Don't you just love my hair?" joked Stryker as she run her hands through her light, lavender hair. She giggled. Stryker always seemed to joke around in the oddest situations.

Cailean Drusus

When she got on his back he barely even realized she was there, she was so light he just stood up and felt like he was carrying a simple backpack.
"Drop you? You're insulting the strongest guy in the school," joked Cailean, "Do you even eat?"

Felinus Drusus

"Don't you just love my hair?"

"I do," Felinus said bluntly, "actually I prefer it not in a ponytail, it makes you look more like a regular girl."

Felinus was the guy with words of truth, when he gave someone a compliment it wasn't to get on their good side it was because he truly thought so. He never particularly liked Stryker because of the way she made herself seem superior to others even though her intellect was below average but also because he saw no true personality in her. But with her hair down it made her look more sensual and more vulnerable which changed Felinus' view on her. He could actually consider her as a pretty girl.

"I do," Felinus said bluntly, "actually I prefer it not in a ponytail, it makes you look more like a regular girl."

Stryker thought about the comment for a second. He didn't think of me as a regular girl? Well, she shouldn't have been surprised. Stryker did tend to be the most cruel and inhumane person at school. She remembered numerous times when she was mean to Felinus and Cailean. Felinus sat behind Stryker in Algebra and she thought back to the time when she tripped him on his way to the chalkboard in front of the class. "Oops. Hurry up Feloser. You're breathing my air." Stryker had said to him. She smirked and went through the day as if she had never done anything to Felinus. Cailean was a whole 'nother story. Stryker teased him, but never did anything physical to him. She was aware of Cailean's strength and was afraid he would do something if she ever tripped him or pushed him.

Stryker snapped out of her thought moment and gave Felinus a small grin and then looked around. She didn't even know how Felinus was going to start searching for his twin. Maybe they had that twin telepathy thing Stryker has heard about.

"So, like, let's go already. If we stay here any longer, I bet that thing's gonna come for us and like, kill us." Stryker put her hair behind both of her ears and prepared herself to walk around the forest again.

"So, like, let's go already. If we stay here any longer, I bet that thing's gonna come for us and like, kill us," said Stryker as she slipped her hair behind her ears and got up.

"Alright, let's get going," Felinus said as he reached his hand toward Stryker for her to hold it.

He didn't want to lose her again and have to run after her so he waited for her to hold on and then he started to walk through the forest. He noticed that moss was growing a lot on one side of the tree which meant that they were in the northern latitudes of the world and he was headed north by follow the direction of the moss. He kept on walking north with Stryker walking by his side.

Cailean Drusus

"When I remember to eat. I'm not usually hungry."

"And I thought you were smart," chuckled Cailean, "Well, I'm not known for my correct judgement."

Cailean started to walk forward not really knowing where he was going or what he was going to do. All he knew was that he needed to find his brother so he thought hard about him wanting to find him. "We need to find your brother and Styker."

"Don't worry, we will," said Cailean.

He noticed the shades of the trees, they were fading away because so was the sun. Night was coming and Cailean didn't even want to imagine what it would be like with that monster during the night. He picked up the pace but preferred not to tell Jessica that the night was coming so that she wouldn't get anymore scared then she already was.

"I'm not all that smart. I just see things differently. I never pay attention in class."

Cailean couldn't help letting a small laugh slip through, "That make two of us."

Cailean took large steps avoiding to snap twigs or crunch leaves as best he could but even with his immense skills in stealth, he couldn't avoid a whole floor draped with dead autumn leaves. His breathing was steady and the night's cold wasn't too bitter thanks to Jessica on his back.

"What a mess we're in... Thanks for carrying me, by the way."

"Yeah, it is a mess and don't worry, I mean, you weigh a lot! But I'm used to it since I'm tough," Cailean joked with her to try and lighten the mood, but then he came back to serious business, "The night is falling fast, we should try to find shelter or just stop here for the night."

Felinus Drusus

Felinus felt Stryker's hand tightening around his and shaking. The cold was becoming acute and Felinus could see his own breath.

"Can we stop?" Asked Stryker, "It's getting really dark."

Stryker's stomach growled and Felinus wished he could give her something to munch on but he too was hungry and had nothing to eat. Stryker sat at a tree and Felinus sat with her staying close so that they wouldn't get cold, the vapor of their breaths merged in the air and Felinus looked up at the dark sky not even shone with the smooth silver light of the moon.

"You should get some sleep," said Felinus.

Felinus joined Stryker, and the warmth of his body made her feel a sense of contentment. Too tired to bother, Stryker laid her head on Felinus's shoulders. It felt somewhat nice, to have someone be with her. She could never imagine going through all of this all by herself.

"You should get some sleep," said Felinus. Stryker hesitated on closing her eyes. What if the slenderman comes? "Felinus," said Stryker. She watched the trail of her cold breath join Felinus's. "You need sleep too." Listening to the barely audible sounds of the leaves dancing, a tear found its way out of Stryker's eye and it slowly made its way down her face. It eventually dropped, falling on her arm. The thought of the possibility of never leaving the forest was too much. It kept coming back to her mind, no matter how hard she tried to not think about it.

"Do you think we'll ever make it out of here?" asked Stryker. She was still shivering; her revealing cheerleading outfit didn't help insulate more heat. She snuggled closer to Felinus and brought her legs up to her chest. The trees tormented her, as if they were saying You'll never escape.

I will escape.

Felinus Drusus

When Stryker said that he should get some rest as well he nodded in agreement but then he noticed a tear trailing down her face and falling to her arm.
"Do you think we'll ever make it out of here?" asked Stryker.

Felinus reassured her with a few simple words, "Why wouldn't we? We're project partners, let's just take this step by step and you'll see we'll make it out."

Stryker came closer to Felinus and brought her knees to her chest she seemed so vulnerable and afraid that Felinus moved so that he could pass one leg behind her and hold her close against his chest in between his laid out legs. He caressed her head and then remembered that he had a pack of cigarettes in his pocket. He took one out and lit it then puffed a cloud into the sky that soon faded away in the soft breeze.

"Everything is going to be alright."

Cailean Drusus

He kept walking a little with Jessica on his back, he wasn't tired so he didn't stop but then Jessica declared loudly right next to his ear, "Look! You see it? It's a cabin!"

Cailean's ear was in pain from her shouting but he felt a wave of relief once he saw the cabin. He picked up the pace and went inside the old cabin. It was totally abandoned but there was a wood stove and that was more than enough. If he could light the wood stove then there would be smoke and maybe his brother would see it.

"I'm going to get some wood to light the fire," said Cailean after he had let Jessica off his back.

He went outside in search of dry wood.
