"Someday, my prince will come."
She is a kind and sweet girl, always offering her help whenever needed. She is a patient person, not easily irritated and angered by hurtful comments and remarks, although she may retort back when she finally reaches her patience' limit, or for the sake of defending herself. She always remains cheerful and optimistic, even at times where she suffers from merciless beatings and canings from her wicked stepmother. She loves keeping all the pain to herself and maintains a happy facade amongst the people she mixes with. She keeps a diary as a means to pour out her emotions, be it sad or happy, confused or angry, as she has yet to find someone who understands her feelings. She loves anything romantic, ranging from love stories to boy-girl relationships. She is a simple-minded girl, often easily taken advantage of her kindness and niceness. She loves the colour blue, as she feels that it somehow represents her: cool, calm, understanding yet filled with sadness. She likes sunny days, bluebell flowers, doing arts, reading and writing. She dislikes rainy days. At times, she wonders if she is able to find her true love.
Kathleen's mother died after she was born. At the age of seven, her father remarried again and got himself a young, pretty wife and she is good towards his only daughter, or so he thought. Her stepmother, her father's second wife, in actual fact, was wicked at heart, craving for her family's wealth. She despised Kathleen for being more beautiful than she is and the fact that Kathleen always received equal attention from her father enrages her, as she wanted Kathleen's father to shower a hundred percent attention on her only so that he would then decide to transfer his wealth to her, and not to Kathleen. In his absence, Kathleen would be ill-treated by her but in front of Kathleen's father, she would act as a dutiful wife and a loving mother. Years later, at the age of seventeen, Kathleen's stepmother managed to convince Kathleen's father to send Kathleen away from home to Appalachian Academy because of Kathleen's unseemly behaviours and that she needed exposure to the world. Kathleen could not do anything to change her father's mind about the false accusation done by her stepmother; her father now believes in her stepmother more than in her. She was forced out of the house to live her life in an unknown academy.
