|{History}| Sophia was born too two loving parents. She loved them but still she didn’t truly feel like she belonged to them. She always stayed more too herself then be with people. She liked to be by herself and read, write or play her guitar or listen to music she liked. She was always happy and filled with joy in life she never complained about how she was treated in life she enjoyed it so much.
When she was 13 her parents took her to a camp telling her that it would be wise to go and make some friends and they told her that she needed to stop spending so much time alone or with her head in a book. When she was at her third year of camp and she was 16 that year. She had to go home early because she wasn’t feeling well. Someone had been contacting her mother giving her threating phone calls and letters. It scared her mom. That night Sophia was in the living room watching TV with her parents when someone broke in the window and shot them both in the head. And left.
She now lives with her grandmother. Who spends a lot of time with her senior friends. She still continues to go to camp just for the fun of it. She decided this year at camp she would try to talk to one person it was her goal.

A trumpet sounded from a distance, loud and melodic in its usual 'To The Colors' anthem as scouts rose the American flag into the clear blue skies. Everyone had a part to play; dining halls had to be swept, mopped and pristine dinnerware were acquired to be displayed orderly, every watercraft were pulled out from its position in the shed and were instead lined up beside Lake Fairfield according to their size and shape, washrooms were scrubbed clean as expected, varies workshops had each booth displayed out into campgrounds, the cabins were to be dusted, cleaned, and assigned to the appropriate campers that were soon to arrive, and lastly every staff member put on their best smiles for these campers. A year had past since they had last seen them, and now they were determined as ever, hoping that these last five months would be spent in true enjoyment at Merrie Woode summer camp.

Summer Camp. The words took a dreadful outlook upon Judith. Five month of pure horror with other campers she knew ever since she first attended Merrie Woode; others who inconspicuously tried to make her life a living hell more so than it already had been since the death of Jamie last year, her life little by little was beginning to accumulate all things suffering. Course she tried to look at the positive side, but it was difficult. Besides, who would be around to make sure she never forgotten her inhaler? Surely the others wouldn't. Half never even spoken a hundred words to her let alone acknowledged her appearance. She was only a forgotten soul at the center of earth; a mystery amongst various insights. Though, she never cared. Whatever the others thought, it was theirs to observe. No comment needed.

She leaned her head against the car window, watching as the scenery zip by, a tableau of dark green fir trees, bright rays from the sun reflecting off of the cars, and clear blue skies from above. "Beautiful? Isn't it?" her father took casual glances in the back towards her.

"Every year." She smiled vaguely.

Her father chuckled and flicked on the radio; turning it to the classical station. Judith heard the first few bars of Yiruma's River Flows In You, which was the very piece she was supposed to be working on while at camp before her Julliard audition in September. She felt some kind of cosmic coincidence. She began to concentrate on the notes, imagining herself playing, feeling grateful for this chance to practice, happy to be cool in a car with her melody and her family. She closed her eyes.

"Em? Em, honey, wake up." Someone softly shook at her shoulder. Alarmed, Judith jerked awake. It was her mother."We're here." she said.

Judith looked passed her and fair enough she spotted the sign declaring it to have been Merrie Woode. "Right." she rubbed at her eyes before grabbing her two luggages, hopped out the car, and shutting the door behind her at the same time her father met her with a duffel bag that withheld all her necessities. He took one look at his daughter, his Judy, and pulled her into a hug. "You have fun, okay? Jamie may not be here, but she's always watching over you."

The sound of Jamie's name only made Judith clutch her father even closer. "I will. You know I always will."

A minute passed. Two. Then, her father released her. She turned to her mother, and instantly she was embraced. "I love you so much."

"I love you too, mom." Then, she let go; slinging the duffel bag over her shoulder she managed to roll her luggage down the rugged concrete. Halfway toward a staff member that awaited her, she turned around- her hair whipping at her face- and looked at her parents. They were standing with arms linked over each other as they looked back at their little girl. They knew that she would only be away for the summer, but it was as if they weren't enjoying the thought of her leaving. Josephine raised a hand in goodbye, before walking down a little stone path lined with dark hedges and met face to-face with a tall, balding man, "Miss Ahlström! Welcome back. " He said casually, smiling warmly. "You may remember me as Michael McDonnell, founder of Merrie Woode. Anyhow, here's your schedule," He handed her a paper filled with useful information. Then, he pointed in the direction of her cabin.

Sophia Stanford

Sophia was having to drive to camp this year. It seemed like it was going to be a fun year. She would end up bumping into Cassie. Who always seemed in a chipper mood. Sophia was more of a quiet girl. She oddly was more closed and enjoyed to be alone sometimes. It was never her appeal to be with people. She drove in silence for a while and then pulled over. She grabbed her cd. The fault in our stars audio book. She enjoyed reading it and since she liked it she decided listen to it during the car ride.

She listened and stopped the cd once the person said "As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once." It was her favorite quote she loved it beyond extinct she wondered if one day she would ever feel that. She stopped at a Mcdonalds and smiled. She went through drive through. "Hi i think I will take a burger, chicken nuggets, large fires, mcfrosty, and a soda which I think i will have orange crush thanks." She drove to the area to pick up and took a sip of her soda. It was so lovely to drink something she had a dry throat.

She put on the radio though this time and listened to the music on, It was just some new pop-hit she hadn't heard. She never focused on all the new songs too much she liked the older ones instead it was just nicer the music before. She drove and drove for what seemed like forever when finally she reached the woods. She parked her car and looked around. She thought about it for a second and decided to just sit there for a minute.

It was a bit of a drive but she always loved this place. Even though she didn't like dealing with the people or people in general. But there was always Cassie she liked talking to sometimes. It was nice to have someone to chat too! She walked out of the car and grabbed her bags. She had brought over six suitcases which was her usual junk load. It was full of stuff that she liked and stuff that she had to fill it with. She grabbed it all out of the car and took a deep breath. She was wearing a top that was purple short-shorts and red pumps she enjoyed. She looked around and wondered if Cassandra was already there.

So, it's the first day at Merrie-Woode, right? The campers had a chance to reunite with their peers, if new they got a look around camp, and even met with their campmate(s) whom they may or may not like. But that's just life. Now enough with the blah-blah stuff, It's time to start the day off right. The staff at Merrie-Woode have a list of plans for all the fellow campers. Those of who will follow obediently with a smile planted on their faces which indicate the meaning of being a "happy" camper, and there are others who will use their stay at Merrie-Woode as an advantage to only cause chaos. Hint, hint, the staff has their eyes close on three stooges that are known for causing great catastrophes: Elias Addiks, Dylan Negovanlis, Theodore Matthews. With the likes of Cassandra Bennett hoeing around. May these four (delinquents..) be surveillance.

The dining hall is where we lay our scene, each camper are (hopefully) enjoying their breakfast; scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage, and stacks on stacks of pancakes. Since there's only eight minutes left, Mr.McDonnell has decided to make an announcement of who is in what group and with who for our Color War activity, thus giving each of them a map of Merrie-Woode:

"The yellow group includes campers Cassandra Bennett, Hollie Knight, and Charlotte Van Der Deen.

The orange group includes campers Mackenzie Irving, Theodore Matthews, Ben Hartly, and Colton Nobel.

The blue group includes campers Judith Ahlström, Lucas Woods, and Dylan Negovanlis.

The green group includes campers Elias Addicks, Liam Woods, and Ashleigh Smythe.

The red group includes campers Johnathon O'briens, Alicia Morales, and Sophia Stanford.

The purple group Ciana Moore, Brooklyn Harrison, and Kit Grimshaw.

Now attention all campers. Whether or not you like any of your teammates, we are to be respectful and work as a group. Today's color war activity is Capture The Flag. Each team is given at least three riddles that each pertain to where the color of your flag is located. It can be anywhere for example, in the dressers, in the toilet, etcetera. The team who has collected their total of three flags, and report back to the drama station wins. Have fun. And remember to always be a happy camper at Camp Merrie-Woode!"

Riddles:

Yellow Group

1. Little critters are the worst to deal with. It's a good thing that they're kept outside in the__________.
2. Way down deep in the blue sea, betcha can't find me. Where am I?
3. The ________ is forbidden to all campers.

Orange Group

1. Ben Hartly is well known for ending up in the_______.
2. The _____ ______ is always prohibited to boys.
3. Archery is to field as basketball is to______.

Blue Group

1. I wake up in the morning, put my foot to the floor, and make a fifty-yard dash to the bathroom door for the _______.
2. Vegetables are easy to plant.
3. Never go there at night.

Green Group

1. A place set for three meals daily.
2. Where we meet and sing songs.
3. Feeling tired, well Theodore?

Red Group

1. Black and white ball.

Why did she even have to go to this stupid camp?

It was a waste of her time most days, and she hated seeing her 'wonderful half-sister' flirt with every guy there. Even the ones Ciana made clear she better keep away from. God, she may act like she loves her 'half-sister' but as far as Ciana is concerned, they have nothing in common. Not even their father.

Ciana had been going to this camp for years, and she was getting so tired of it. This had to be her last year it had to be. She never made friends here, and it was just... annoying. The few friends she did have, moved off and 'lost her number'. So, she doesn't have much faith in humanity anymore. With that being said, her thoughts were interrupted, by that annoying thought of a woman.

"Ciana? Ciana, dear, you're going to be late your first day of camp!" Ciana rolled her eyes, letting out a sigh from her laying form, covered with her grey comforter. The too familiar form of her... whatever she was... appeared in her doorway. "Ciana, get up." The voice was more harsh this time, and that resulted in nothing to help Ciana.

"Shut up, Katy, my god." She growled, sitting up, and swinging her legs off of her bed. Her tattoo of a flock of birds flying up her left arm becoming visible. Despite fufilling her evil stepmother's wishes, she slowly drug herself out of bed, and got dressed.

She wore her usual outfit, and had a duffel bag over her shoulder as she boarded the plane later that morning. She couldn't believe she was giving in to her father and his lover's wishes, but she just went with it for the time being. Before she opened her eyes again, she was there, at camp. After claiming a taxi from the airport, she rode the ridiculously long drive to the woods where the camp was. "Hello Merrie-Woods." She mumbled, and found her way to her cabin, which she found out she was sharing with another girl."Brittle Stars? That's original.." Ciana shook her head, and settled herself in the cabin, meeting Ashleigh, and shaking her hand as they went off to the dining hall where they were being summoned like cattle.

Ah, yes. Ciana forgot about the groups.

The purple group Ciana Moore, Brooklyn Harrison, and Kit Grimshaw.

"Who?" She breathed, and looked around the dining hall. "Brooklyn, and Kit..." She muttered to herself, surveying the sea of people, to see if anyone might resemble those names. If she had two girls, she might just strangle herself.

Ciana hadn't caught sight of her half-sister, Cassandra, and was quite glad. Things had changed so much since last time, and.. she just didn't feel comfortable around her. It was going to be a long camp, wasn't it?

To say he was tired, was an understatement nonetheless. He'd driven all the way from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the camp he'd attended for most of his life, located in North Carolina. It felt like he'd been driving his whole life. He had permission to drive, as his parents were out of time at the time, and he was due to move out on his own soon anyway.

He arrived around the time most of the others did, but kept quiet. He didn't honestly know some of the people, just the Camp Flirt, Cassandra Bennett. She seemed to have something with Ciana, but he didn't know facts. Honestly, in his opinion, both girls were attractive, even if they were complete opposites.

Johnathon found his cabin, the Bottle-nose Dolphins. He came to find out his roommates would be Dylan Negovanlis and Liam Woods. After a short introduction, he walked to the dining hall with everyone else. He'd forgotten about the groups, and come to find out he was in the red group... with two girls?

The red group includes campers Johnathon O'briens, Alicia Morales, and Sophia Stanford.

"This year will be an interesting one.." He mumbled to himself, and surveyed the cafeteria, wondering who that would be.

Getting to his cabin had been like a gift from the stars. He was bunked with Theo, which was a little strange to him because he figured the camp would have learned their lesson by now. Dylan wasn't there, which was the disappointment of his life, but they'd figure out some kind of arrangement later. No way being in different cabins was going to ruin the three's fun. The other person in their cabin was Ben, whom he didn't know awfully well, but had seen around and talked to a bit in the four years they had both been attending camp. Amidst Theo's and Eli's animated talking, he did his best to not lose himself in the conversation and isolate Ben. He wasn't sure how well he did, but he hoped it was enough to not make him seem like a total prick.

Despite plans to keep Theo up all night some way or another--childish pranks were his forte-- he had actually ended up hitting the pillow a lot earlier than he had planned. It was probably the drive, exhausting. Eli had never been a morning person, and to say he was groggy when he was woken up at first is a bit of an understatement. Once he got to the dining hall and had some food in his stomach though, there was a radical change. Back was the loud, laughing Elias that the camp staff hated. He stole two or three pancakes off of Theo's plate when he wasn't looking, smiling innocently when the other's gaze landed back on him. "Als de kat van huis is, dansen de muizen op tafel," he mumbled through a mouthful of pancakes with an obnoxious smile. When the cat goes away, the mice dance on the table.

The team assignments came a little later. After casting a quick glance around the room and locating one of his teammates, he said goodbye to his table and maneuvered his way through the crowd to get to the bench he was looking for. On the way over, he snatched a leftover sausage from one of the plates and popped it in his mouth. "Yo," he said, sliding in next to Liam, "how's it hanging? Seen Ashleigh around yet?"

Waking up in the morning was hard. Alicia had been up late last night, breaking charcoal stick after charcoal stick in her attempt to fully complete this one sketch she had started earlier that day. It seemed like an easy enough project when she initially thought of it, but the highlights had proved to be more difficult than she'd thought. And after a long night staying up all night bent over her sketchpad and scribbling away furiously, she had the worst crick in her neck. Alicia's family was one of early birds, and she had inherited that trait, but not even genetics could save her from the numerous yawns that escaped her mouth the next morning. At least she could be happy about her cabinmate. The girl, Charlotte she had learned, seemed to be strangely on the same wavelength on her. They hadn't spoken much at all that night, each scribbling away in their sketchbooks, but Alicia came away with the feeling that she could definitely like this person. She hadn't gotten the chance to take a look in her sketchbook, but she definitely wanted to see what her bunkmate was up to.

Breakfast was a relief. Luckily, there was coffee, which helped her get her head in order. She chose to sit next to Charlotte, seeing both Judith and Elias enjoying themselves at their own table. Again, they didn't speak to each other, and this time, at least in her opinion, the silence definitely carried a hint of awkwardness. Several times she tried to come up with an adequate conversation starter in her mind, shutting herself down each time. Eventually teams were assigned for some kind of capture the flag activity. Except this one involved riddles. She immediately thought of the places the riddles indicated. A black and white ball. That had to be soccer, right? Meaning their first spot was probably the athletics fields. Horses definitely meant the riding pen, and the oars had to mean a canoe, which meant the lake. Hoping to find their team's flag quickly so she could get the uncomfortable social game over with, she looked around for one of her teammates.

Locating one of them, this Jonathon fellow, pretty quickly, she decided to work her way over to him. She tended to be observant, staying in the back of the crowd with sharp eyes and listening ears, so she knew who each of her teammates were. She figured they wouldn't know her, of course, given that she rarely attempted to speak to people. Eventually, she found herself sitting next to him, her hands on the table and a slightly nervous smile on her face. "Hey, I'm Alicia," she said, with a quick lift of her hand indicative of a wave. Then, as though remembering she had said her name with a distinct Spanish accent not many people could replicate, she hurriedly followed her statement with, "But you can just call me Alice. I think we're on the same team." She knew they were on the same team, but being able to distinguish a person's face from a crowd when they've never met you before tended to come off as strange, and that wasn't the first impression she wanted to make. "So, any ideas?" she asked, with a quick run of her hand through the mess of curls atop her head.

Sophia Stranford

Sophia got helped and was showed to her cabin. The person in charge said she was sharing a cabin with Cassandra Bennett. A friend she had made here. She didn't really have "friends" but she was going to try to change that this year because she needed to not end up alone. But then she wasn't really a people person. She liked books, quiet car rides, the less hyper activity of everything. Okay fine she HATED people to be with really. But she did want to feel different with her parents being gone now she really needed it. She went into her cabin and got dressed in her silky pjs She hopped into bed and fell asleep not telling anyone if coming in or out.

She awoke to the sound of the woodpecker pecking on the tree near their cabin. She was always an early riser so she got up out of bed and unpacked her stuff. Grabbing some clothes and getting ready to change into them. She made her bed and changed into a leather jacket, a t-shirt that has black and white stripes and a pair of blue jeans. She grabbed her brown boots and put those on. She had worn braids to bed so her hair could have some curls in her hair.

She walked quietly out of the cabin to the cafetiria area. There was a game the catch the flag or something she didn't really know. She sat down at a table and looked around she had gotten The red group includes campers Johnathon O'briens, Alicia Morales, and Sophia Stanford." She wondered who those people were. She didn't know any Johnathon or Alicia. She hoped maybe they would approach her and she wouldn't have to do the work. If she would she wouldn't be involved because she doesn't know how to play or have the guts to do that. She sat and ate the little breakfast she had. Looking around and grabbing abook from her bag. Opening it with a smile plastered on her face from the pleasure of one of the books she had decided to bring on her adventure.

Theme Song

Cassandra had a blast on her first night at camp. She practically socialized with everyone. That was just who she was. She could travel from group to group and just fit in like a missing puzzle piece. And no she did not kiss anyone… well maybe a few cheeks but that was normal for her. She hadn’t really kissed anyone in a very long time; not since her ex. But that was something she was not going to discuss. She stayed up longer than most just talking with her roommate. They had been roommates every year since Sophia started going to camp there. Admittedly, their friendship started off rocky but by the end of that first year together, they would the best of friends.

The red head didn’t exactly remember falling asleep but sometime it happened. Soon she was waking up to the little horn that went off, letting them know it was time to get out of bed. Cassie was half tempted to go to breakfast in her pj’s but since she knew they were most likely going to have an activity that would make them bond with others. She just hoped she would get someone she knew and liked on her team. She changed into a black cropped top with black shorts and a white bathing suit cover that hung over her shoulders. On her feet were a pair of combat boots just in case they had to go hiking.

Cassie was sitting among her friends, drinking a huge cup of hot chocolate when Mr. McDonnell started to speak. She put the map next to her empty plate, let’s be honest it was the first decent meal she had had since she left home and she had been hungry. She held her breathe when they started calling out the groups, ’Please not Hollie, please not Hollie… Anyone but Hollie’. She prayed. And this was the second time in her life that God failed her. She let out an audible groan that earned her a sharp look from Mr. McDonnell. She smiled at him apologetically. She had meant to do that on the inside.

Busying herself with the map so she didn’t have to look and see if Hollie was walking over, she read over the riddle. ”Little critters are the worst to deal with. It’s a good thing that they’re kept outside in the…. Way down deep in the blue see, betcha can’t find me. Where am I? The … is forbidden to all campers.” She repeated quietly to herself. She put her tray up, glancing around in time to find Hollie heading over to Charlotte. She sighed and followed her. Just in time to hear what she called her.

”A Freak and a bitch? Talking about yourself again Hollie?” Cassandra said in her sweetest voice. She moved around her and sat on the bench, smiling at Charlotte. She held out her hand to her. ”Hey, I’m Cassandra, but you can call me Cassie. The person who doesn’t know when to shut up is Hollie. It’s nice to meet you. Can I call you Lotte? I think that would be such a cute nickname!” She said smiling at her. She ignored Hollie when she said what she wouldn’t do.

Her blue eyes finally met her nemeses’ gaze. ”This is for us to get to know each other and form bonds... So anything we have to do… you do too.” Cassie started out dramatically like they would be best friends for life and by the end, her voice was dripping with venom.

”So It looks like it’s going to be the Dirt, near the vegetable garden then probably the lake… and then lastly the Staff Cabin.” She said with a shrug. She did something similar the first year. ”The second one could possible also be the beach or bathhouse.” She smiled at Charlotte. ”I like puzzles. So where do you wanna try first?”
