Leena Erving

"My hair is red for a reason..."

0 · 191 views · located in Present Time

a character in “Something Wrong”, originally authored by Siryn, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Leena Erving or Lee, but only close friends call her Lee

Age: 16

Sex: Female

Height: Five foot

Weight: 120 pounds

Description: Image Leena has thick, curly, blood red hair that is natural in color. Her red hair is a testament to her nature. Pale green eyes peek out from under the locks of red, and thick black eyelashes that curl naturally upwards. Her eyebrows are kept neat and thin, her body is well toned as she is quite athletic and loves to be moving around. She prefers to wear layers, a tight white or black tank top underneath loose clothing is her usual style. Jeans and tennis shoes finish her look.

Role: Care Taker/Servant

Likes: Sports (mostly Softball and Volleyball), Chocolate, handsome men, keeping busy (cooking, cleaning, anything involving moving around).

Dislikes: Being startled (it makes her angry), sudden loud noises, being mocked (also makes her very angry), losing things/misplacing things

Habits: Leena constantly is moving, she doesn't like to be in one place for long. If she's not playing sports she's working, or vice versa. She likes to clean and cook, mostly baking sweets and such.

Greatest Fear: Being in pain is her greatest fear.

Attitude: Leena is pretty easy going unless you make her angry. She's slightly hot headed and doesn't like to be ordered around all that much. She only picked up the job to be a worker at the house because she really needed it and she hates being bored and doing nothing. Leena tries to help people as much as she can, enjoying the feeling of succeeding in making someone grateful or happy. She can sometimes have a sharp tongue, but she tries to keep it under control (thought it doesn't work all that well at times). Her parents blame her fiery attitude on her bright red hair, which is just like her mothers.

History: Leena resembles her mother in almost every aspect, down to the hairs on her head. Their attitudes are the same, and thus sparks many fights between each other. However, Leena loves her mother to death and respects her for being a single mom in a harsh world. Leena worked at several different jobs before, some she quite because of hardships with the owner, others she was fired from because of her fiery personality. It's been hard trying to keep a job, and Leena found the listing to be somewhat intriguing so went to see what she could do. The job is for her mother's sake, as much as her own to keep her sane. Sitting in the house would only cause her problems not only with her mother, but dying of pure boredom. Like her mother, Leena can't sit still and anything that keeps her moving she's grateful to do.

So begins...

Leena twisted a lock of hair in her finger as she looked down at the address on the piece of paper and back to the very large, looming house before her. It was obviously a house of wealth. The family must have been the ones to put out the word that they were looking for workers. She'd been searching for a replacement job for some time and once her eyes fell on the listing in the newspaper, she'd quickly taken up the address and decided to come the following day.

So, there she stood outside the gates of the house, dressed in her usual clothing, a long loose white shirt that covered most of her upper thighs, a tighter shirt underneath and a simple pair of pants and shoes to finish. Pushing her slender fingers through her thick curls, she brought the hair off her face for a moment to reveal her pale green eyes as she gazed upon the large house.

For some odd reason she felt a twinge of nervousness pulse through her chest as she stood there. The driveway leading up to the house was much longer than it probably should have been, and to her it seemed even longer as she continued to stand there. After a moment, she ran her hand over her hair, her shirt and jeans to make sure nothing was out of place. She didn't own a single dress, so she felt slightly embarrassed to be showing up to such a wealthy house dressed as she was.

With a final deep breath, she started up the long cobble stoned driveway and reached the door within the next few minutes. Once there, she reached up and noted her slightly shaking hand that was curled in half a fist. Setting her jaw, she reminded herself to breath and knocked on the solid wood. Then, it was a waiting game. Was it too early? Was no one home? Her nerves jittered uncontrollably underneath her smooth features as she concentrated on breathing.

"Just remember what Mother says, look good and be presentable. First impressions are everything," she muttered to herself as she waited.

Ellie stared at her brother, a distant sadness in her eyes. He was a handsome boy, all class and high attitude, but she felt as though a large wall had nudged itself between them. His eyes held the same disconcerting glare they always did when he looked at her. Faking a small smile, she reached over and smoothed his shirt, her hands hovering over his chest as she pulled away.

"The cleaners left, Alec," she said, pulling her hands closer to her chest, a protective gesture, "they quit a week ago. I've been searching for others."

Not a moment after the words fell from her lips, there was a tentative knock at the front door, and the entire house groaned in response, the wood shifting as it prepared for the unexpected guest.

"Perhaps that's one now," she whispered, and slipped past her brother towards the front hall, her bare feet making gentle padding noises as she paced away, long sheet of jet black hair streaming behind her. Taking a steadying breath, the slim girl opened the imposing door and smiled at the red-head who stood before her, looking nervous and determined.

"Hello," she chirped, her eyes lighting up, "my name is Ellena. Welcome to my home."

Alec huffed as his sister told him about the cleaners, "That's a pity". There was a knock at the door which interupted their conversation, Alec responsed by letting a low growl erupt from his chest. His sister walked past him and opened the door, greeting the red-head. He too walked over to the two, peering over his sister's shoulder. He said nothing, only stared curiously. It would be fun to torture her, to play tricks on her and scare her witless. That was just something he did often, and he found it quite amusing. If only people didn't react so badly to it. More often that not, he'd get chased or punched, possibly even worse.

After a while of doing nothing but stare, he turned himself around and padded back to the kitchen to eat his breakfast. Alec snorted slightly as the image popped back into his mind, he shook his cranium to rid the thought then shifted his gaze back to the food his sister had prepared. "I must say, this looks delightful. Such a pity, it appears I'm not fully ready to eat yet". Alec stood still for a moment as an uncomfortable breeze whipped past his back, causing him to shudder. Lately, there'd been many situations where Alec found himself spooked or puzzled, but he quickly discarded the feelings and returned his focus to whatever he happened to be doing at the time.

"Oh, Ellie, tell that new girl to clean the banister. I shall not have my hands covered in dust everytime I wish to walk up and down the stairs safely" he called into the hallway, his voice cold and bitter. He hoped this girl would do her job correctly, then he wouldn't have to punish her. Alec had taken up that job within the house, punishing the help whenever the stepped out of line. It was something he was particularly good at.

Alex was running late to the home she was going to try to find a job at. She didn't have a licence or even know how to drive a car. She was never allowed to learn how to, so she walked most places, or would take a bike if she had the money. She took a moment to make sure she looked well before entering the massive house's driveway. She was wearing a lime green skirt that went to her feet, and a white blouse that cover up to her forearms. Her shoes were simple leather ones. She had her bag with her, she left her bag at the hostal she was staying, but she kept her daughter's picture and her favorite bunny with her at all times.

She took the bunny out as she was walking, adn hugged it to her, and said, "I promise, Rani. I will return for you." SHe put the bunny back in the bag, and saw her reflection in a window: Her long dark hair was looking nice, and she had two gold colored bands going from her scalp to the tips of her hair, they were her favorite thing to wear, her husband didn't know sheowned them.

She looked at the door, and saw a red haired woman at the door, "Did I miss the job already, no it can't be." She thought to herself as she got closer, and when she got closer, she saw a young woman, probably only 16 at the door greeting her. Her parents probably put out the job, but people in town told her that no one ever saw the parents.

"Hello, sorry I late." She began, her knowledge of english was improving, but she had some difficulties talking, although they were minor by this point, "I am hear for job that was posted, am I over late for it?" She asked the girl, before giving a slight head nod to the other woman.

"Hello, my name is Ellena. Welcome to my home."

Leena offered the girl a smile, "I'm Leena. I saw the job posting and I think it would fit me perfectly. I like keeping busy," she started. Hoping that she hadn't overwhelmed the girl with her thoughts. Leena looked over Ellena's shoulder and spotted a taller young man looking at her. Her first thought was how handsome he looked, the next thought was how cold he was as he told his sister to have Leena clean the banister. She wondered idly why he sounded that way, maybe he had woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

"I'll gladly clean the banister for you, anything to keep busy," Leena offered eagerly to Ellena. All the while her gaze slipped off of the girls pretty face to the ornate decor of the house, the large stair case and most of all, the dust that seemed to hang off of every corner. Leena felt an odd twitch inside her. She wanted to see everything sparkling and clean. It was utterly terrible to see such beautiful craftsmanship being dirty but such an enemy as dust.

From behind her, another woman came up to them. She looked to be much older than both girls, and her English was broken as she spoke to Ellena. Leena listened only briefly, understanding that the woman was also interested in working for the family. Her fingers twisted together as she waited, hoping that if anything, they both could get the job and share in responsibilities. She would hate to see such a desperate woman turned away because she'd gotten there first.

Leena waited for her first order of the day, eager to get started. At the back of her mind, she wondered if she would be able to get to know the young, handsome boy more. To which she quickly shut down the thoughts, work first, day dream later (which wasn't very often).

Johnathon came down the steps in his pajamas, a small yawn escaping his lips. His face brightened up at the sight of his sister. "Ellie~" He called out running towards her and wrapping her in his small thin arms. Johnathon loved his older sister, and the rest of his family, but mostly his older sister. Ellie was definitely his favorite. He looked over at the new servants with a more passive and unamused look. He was not interested in having new servants. They were nice to him, like he was some kid. And though he was a kid, he'd rather not be treated as one. On the other hand, Johnathon found newbies easy to scare. The thought caused a small smirk to appear onto his face. "Who are you?" He asked them.

Forrest Chamberlain

The man had seen many impressive houses in his lifetime; the one in front of him was no exception. As he leaned on the wrought iron gate, he folded his arms and looked up at the manor; nodding his brunette head in approval. His pale eyes expressed nonchalance. One could not deny the sheer size of the building, and Forrest could not help but speculate how many rooms it contained and how long it would take to travel the whole perimeter. Would they be even using all of the rooms? He wondered. Perhaps not. The man had heard many rumours of the Ravie Household, but he had paid no heed to them. Despite the shady background, they seemed respectable and besides, a job was a job. No mention of parents or guardians? So what. If it is only the children, it must just mean they did a good job.

Forrest licked his lips before pushing himself off the gate. He glanced at the rusty iron forlornly; that would need taken care of immediately. The manor looked to be in a similar state, beaten down and dull, he couldn't help but shake his head; ruffling those layers. No wonder they needed workers. However, there was something about the manor that nerved him, he just couldn't put his finger on it. He brushed off his silken blue blazer thoroughly, before pulling up his white tie and knocking off any dirt from his shoes. A neatly folded flyer in his grasp, he strolled through the driveway; the tread of gravel emitting no noticeable sound.

While approaching the house, he saw a small group already gathering. It seemed that a few other people had applied for the job as well. A few black-headed children stood in the doorway, one small girl stood foremost which Forrest assumed was the eldest of the Ravie siblings. She looked busy with the two girls in front of him. Forrest decided to linger behind and wait; his hands resting at his sides and his foot tapping patiently; his focus elsewhere as he examined the rest of the manor. From a distance he caught the whiff of eggs and tea, they were just having breakfast. Some of them were just waking up as he heard small children clambering down the stairs. However, he smelled the musky scent of dust which immediately made the edge of his lip twitch.

Alec walked back to the doorway, his fingers curled around the handle of a cup of tea that he'd been drinking before he heard his brother and sister come down the stairs. He arrived in time to hear Maddie asking where he was. Alec smiled warmly and patted her head with his free hand. "Here I am!" he said cheerily, flashing her a toothy grin. "I put some jam and biscuits on a plate for your breakfast, though you have Ellie to thank for preparing the meal" Alec told her, his eyes shifting over to the man that had arrived. He seemed to be waiting behind, probably waiting for Ellie to finish with her current conversation. He bent down to reach Maddie's level, "You know that man over there," he said, pointing to him, "He seems like a nice man, but it's the nice ones you gotta watch out for. I'd recommend staying away from him".

Of course he was only teasing her, but it'd be funny to make Forrest think that people were avoiding him. He didn't have to saying anything to Johnathon because he knew he had no interest in the help anyway, that'd make his task a whole lot easier. He squeezed past Ellie and the other two, only to make his way over to Forrest and hold out his free hand. "Welcome to the Ravie household, my name is Alec. I know what you're thinking, the house could use a bit of work, but I suppose that's why you're here" Alec greeted the man, "I was only informed this morning that we would be getting new workers, so I didn't even have time to have a small tidy up myself", his tone was somewhat sorrowful, though it was backed up by lies and jokes. Alec would never clean, not when he'd grown up with people doing everything for him, it was just the way he was raised. Selfish, ignorant, spoilt.

Ellie's head was spinning slightly, all the people and activity making her slightly nervous, but happy nonetheless. Squeezing Johnathon back, she kissed his cheek before standing tall and looking at all the others. Taking a small breath, she cleared her throat and announced to the crowd.

"Please, everyone, calm down! If you're here for the job, kindly follow me to the sitting room. Alec, take care of the children, get them breakfast and tea, and remind them to brush their teeth. I'll be back soon. Everyone, please, follow me." Smiling kindly, she strode away from the fray towards the sitting room and perched in a fancy armchair, crossing her legs and flicking her dark hair over her shoulder.

Forrest Chamberlain

Was that sarcasm he had just heard? The man gazed at the boy indifferently for a few seconds, it was hard to differentiate this look as a penetration of the child's very soul or merely a searching glance. Despite his age, he was already one inch taller than Forrest himself, they were practically the same height and stood directly opposite one another. This Alec boy - the man decided - was the one to be aware of. After a moment's silence, Forrest's face abruptly broke into a warm smile and his eyes crinkled.

"It is my pleasure, Mr. Ravie." He replied, he took Alec's hand and shook it loosely; the smile still plastered on his face. He assessed the old manor once more, "Indeed, that's why I am here.
Once Forrest had let go of the boy's hand, he pocketed the flyer and placed his own gloved ones behind his back. What had he told that little girl back then?
He chuckled quietly. "Of course not, sir. Afterall, that is my job."
It was obvious that he had not done any cleaning in his teenage life. Who had the role of cleaning the house before they flyers had been posted? Just the girl? Surely not.

"Please, everyone, calm down! If you're here for the job, kindly follow me to the sitting room. Alec, take care of the children, get them breakfast and tea, and remind them to brush their teeth. I'll be back soon. Everyone, please, follow me." Forrest tilted his head to look at the girl who had just shouted.
His attention shifted back to Alec. "Mistress is calling. I assume this means goodbye, for now." He muttered, before bowing his head towards the boy and following his sister inside, behind the two other girls. While walking through the corridor, he slipped off one of his gloves and ran a finger across the wall. He stared at the dirt, disapprovingly. The previous workers either did not do a good job or it had been some time since they had left.

Ellie rubbed her hands together nervously and exhaled, watching the group of potential workers, though her mind was in the kitchen, stroking Johnathon's hair and making sure Maddie ate all her breakfast, trying to force Alec to be nice to the children with gentle comments and soft looks. She shivered under his gaze now, fear whispering in her ear and wrapping around her throat, fear that he had forgotten who she was, how much she loved him. Forgotten by her sibling...her hands began to quake at the thought, though she folded them in her lap to stay still, and looked at the applicants.

The first one to arrive, Leena, she had said, was a very nice girl, sweet, and classically pretty, with her long red hair. Having more girls in the house wouldn't exactly help, but more girls her age would make her smile. The second girl, who spoke with broken English, seemed a bit timid, but she was lovely nonetheless. Having older forces would help, it might make Alec straighten up a bit. And then there was the man...he was very pretty, beautiful, for a man. Breathtaking. That would certainly set Alec off, but it would be good to have a bit more masculinity in the household.

Smiling softly, Ellie wondered if everyone would be happy, the workers since they would all be receiving jobs, the children since there would be other people to help out besides herself. The familiar twinge of fear crept into her throat, but she shook her head gently to rid the thought, and decided to instead focus on what needed to be done. Sixteen, and far too grown up for her own good.

Alex held her mouth when the man came to the group, he was a worker, and seemed to be very commited to his work. She hoped she still had a chance, but she still kept her mouth closed and watched. There was obviously some behavioral problems with the kids, and she had not seen the parents yet although some people in the town said no one ever saw the parents anymore, and that made her wonder.

She didn't really have an opinion on the kids, except the little boy who seemed to be made out of sticks and glue, "He needs to eat more." Was all she thought. Also, the smaller girl seemed very sweet, she reminded her a bit of Rani, but she pushed that thought back, she didn't need to cry infront of kids.

"Excuse me," She started, aiming at the oldest girl, "My name is Alex, i didn't give before, my sorry. You seem to care for your siblings, but where are parents?" She asked, after reviewing it in her head, to make sure all the words sounded right, although she was pretty sure she forgot a word or two.

Forrest Chamberlain

It seemed the deeper the man delved into the manor, the more excited he felt inside. Forrest found a certain thrill in hard work that no other person could possibly do. As he continued to trail behind the line, a sudden weight collided with his right thigh. He was vaguely surprised to see a black-haired child brushed against his leg, the boy looked stick-thin and fragile.
"Careful, little Master." The man muttered under his breath, his expression softened. Forrest only managed to catch a glimpse of the child's face before he sped off in the direction of the kitchen, not bothering to check who he bumped into. His eyes were two different colours, one was a icy blue while the other was an intense purple

Once entering into the large sitting room, he sat himself down onto a sofa; his legs crossed and his hands folded within each other. While getting himself comfortable, the man used the time to evaluate the two other workers among them. The first was a young girl with deep crimson hair, Forrest could feel an air of defiance surrounding her. He could've been nearly twice her age, she looked to be the same age as the eldest Ravie child, and yet they were applying for the same job. He hoped she worked well with others. Closer to him was the second worker who looked around his own age, she was taller than an average woman and her dark complexion suggested she originated from somewhere exotic. She seemed timid and humble.

He was listening to her broken english, curious, when he saw a child burst into the room and crash into his sister's lap. Forrest instantly recognised him as the boy with heterochromia who had bumped into him earlier. The man continued to watch him while he was being scolded lightly by the girl. There was something about this child that grabbed his attention, but he couldn't quite figure out what. In fact, there was something off about the household in general. Perhaps, those rumours were true.

What nonsense.

Remaining silent, he observed the girl as she kissed the child's forehead and answered the foreign woman's question.
"Our parents are... very busy. They cannot always be available, and are often away on business. They've left me in charge of the house, as I am the eldest here. While working here, you will answer to all children, but most importantly me. I hope that will not be a problem for you."
She was extremely mature for her age, no-one could deny that. Then again, she must've learned to be like that, now that she was in charge. The girl had been forced to grow up, Forrest respected her for that. It would be easy to accept her as his new Mistress, although it would be slightly more difficult to do the same with Alec. Questions tumbled in his cranium about these parents. What kind of business must they do to leave their children?

Alex saw the boy who she thought she could break by saying the wrong word enter the room, sadden by his brother. She had delt with conflict before, her siblings were full of it, and she was the one who delt with it, she was the eldest. The eldest Ravine girl told him to bahve, but kindly before she turned back to Alex. "Our parents are... very busy. They cannot always be available, and are often away on business. They've left me in charge of the house, as I am the eldest here. While working here, you will answer to all children, but most importantly me. I hope that will not be a problem for you."

This confused her, they were just kids, how could their parents leave them, even though the girl seemed very mature, she still worried. Although, this was the only place she could work, as no one else would hire her. "It fine miss Ravine." She said, and bowed a tiny bit to show respect, and she wondered how much she would be paid. She hoped it would be enough to let her stay in town long enough to formula a plan to return.

She turned her attention to the man who seemed to be trying for a job as well. He seemed kind, not to mention he spoke very formally, but she had learned from experience not to trust a man because he spoke well. She made sure to move away from him, just out of survival instinct, but and got close to the boy with two different color eyes.

"You know, I didn't like my brother either." She started, she wanted to make some conection with the boy, he had shot her a look like he didn't like her, and she didn't like people not liking her. "He would steal my dolls, but I got over because I love him, and I got bigger. We got to make you bigger, maybe play or later we have sweets, if alright with your sister." She said, addressing his weight issue, or rather the fact he was around the size of a dog she had growing up. "I Alex, nice to meet you." She said, leaning down, and put out her hand to shake his, and had a smile on her face.
