Life in the monastery wasn't easy, or at least for the first year or so. Asha, on top of her inability and refusal to speak, didn't quite get along with many of the other disciples. While they ignored the human girl by default, Asha, in turn, shut herself out from any who did try to make contact. Days were spent in silence and solitude, as Asha read through the many books that were shelved in the study or aimlessly dragged her wheels through the courtyard, hoping it would make time tick by even faster. It was on many of the latter occasions that human girl ran into Ayara, a Nilarian girl who was about the same age as her. As one might expect, she was not too fond of her and Asha persistently pushed the girl away from her personal bubble at first. Ayara's continuous pestering, however, proved commendable as the human eventually seized her silent treatment and began to warm up to the strange amphibian child. It wasn't long until Asha began to speak again, if only a little, which was reason for the elders in the monastery to begin their evaluation of the girl. Even order their artificers to provide Asha with a fresh new pair of legs so she could walk among the others as an equal.
The many years after that simply went as they should. The elders kept a tight leash, mostly so she wouldn't constantly throw herself into peril, but also to keep tabs on her mental state with weekly sessions that evaluated her social and emotional development. Asha, as she became old enough to play a role in the monastery, had willingly chosen to assist the physicians and hone her apparent natural talent to help the sick and injured back on their feet. In her spare time she would diligently attend the teachings of the artificers who thought it good for Asha that she'd learn how to maintain her legs should she ever need to. The remainder of her time was spent hanging around with Ayara, who she had grown quite fond of over the years - Practically treating the young Nilarian as a sister despite not being related by blood. The two often spoke about what the rest of the world was like, and promised that, when they were ready and able, they would travel across the stars together.
