After slapping the book shut, having made marks for later reference out of a few spare toothpicks, Osmond looked up when the word 'match' reached his ears. His eyes darted over the book as he located the girl who mentioned the word. A little grin creeped over his right side as he nudged Desmond, scaring him half to death, "Hey Des, I think there may be someone mixing it up soon. Follow me." With that, Desmond marked his spot, closed his book, placed it with his other books, and stood with a matching grin, "Seem like it's going to be a good match? Let's see, a lance style and those twin swords from earlier," his grin expanded to a cheshire cat smile, "oh yeah, this is gonna be good." Osmond recognized that there was more to a battle than the weapons used, but for the most part they were focused more on the strength of the weaponry, because the two knew that in the long run those would be the opponents they would have direct contact with. Desmond playfully held out his hand to Osmond, "I've got a weeks worth of cooking duty betting that the twin swords win, how 'bout it Oz?" Osmond looked to the competitors as they moved to keep a better view of those that may be involved, then back to Desmond grasping his hand in a firm shake, "I'll take that bet, though I wouldn't count out the lance. Two weapons against one does not always mean an easy victory." Desmond chuckled, "Ok, sensei I'll remember that while I'm eating your cooking for a week." The two began further analyzing the souls of the competitors, Desmonds head turned quizically to the side, "Oz, I know my Soul Perception isn't what it could be, but does something look a little strange to you about that guy with the twins?" Osmond focused his perception on Calyx and perked his eyebrow, "You mean the fact that it doesn't feel right, or the fact that it's not very clear like everyone elses?" Desmond nodded, "exactly..." As they observed, Osmond allowed his toothpick to flick back and forth without thought, things were definitely going to be interesting at the DWMA.
