SOULCHESS

A Second Awakening

Just so some of you know – On an old account, I made this RP. I decided to bring it back revamping some things about the set up... Last time I had way too much spaces taken that really weren't being used... They get their character in but didn't have the time or perhaps didn't take the time to actually post. I'm hoping to recreate it and this time keep a steady flow of post.

—Plot--

Every hundred years, the Soul Chess begins. Soul chess is battle that takes place within an unknown city known as Gardenia. Those who are summoned take part in a battle that will determine the side who controls Gardenia for 100 years until the next. Gardenia is a floating city above the clouds. It functions normally as a city would to where during the day, it is busy but at night it dies down... especially for the battles when the destructions takes place. The council that looks over Gardenia and the battles is a tower near the city everyone can see. Know Gardenia City is indeed a city that looks as though it is modern. The city is indeed grand and could be known as a city of lights like Tokyo, Japan.

When you are summoned to the city, you have no memory of how you came to be in this world but your mind is informed of the purpose. Most of you probably died before entering the world... No one is just summoned on a whim. When you awaken in the city for the first time you do not know the opposing "pieces" but you do know which faction you are apart of by seeing the crest on your hand. This crest is only seen by your faction, no one else will know what piece you hold.

Each faction has a castle or base in which they stay at. The castles location are on opposite sides of the city. To not intimidate or stir up problems with normal civilians the castles are hidden to them. Once they apparently step foot into the castle they immediately turn around knowingly as if they shouldn't do that. However in their eyes, the border between castles is basically the edge in which they will fall to their doom.

So which faction will you fight for in this strategic battle, which role will you play? Will you win this century's soulchess or will you die trying? Perhaps even betray the faction you were given! Join now!

(Keep in mind, your character can die in this. Revival is only through RP and thats monitored)

Know, roles are not gender specific but they do have value and specific role abilties in addition to your character. Now just because you request to be certain type of role doesn't exactly mean you'll get it. The King and Queen roles are considered to be the key and core roles of this roleplay. The reasons behind this are because they can decide what role, a player is for their team or army (whatever they may consider their alliance). Perhaps you may get a role assigned to you when you submit your character and I'm not your king or queen. Your king or queen decides to suddenly change your role. This can be done. So keep updated and don't be upset if this happens because you were told.

Now know, just because you have a specific role, doesn't mean you're going to be the strongest or weakest in a way. Your "King" may be weaker then its "Queen" or even "Pawn" in some ways but stronger in others. All characters in this roleplay are balanced in power. As mentioned the only difference on your characters are basically leadership/rank and the abilities given. Now roleplay wise, Your "King" may decide to rank you by who is stronger but all of that is totally dependent on what he/she decides.

King - (Lord)

♕♚

The king role acts and is usually known to be a main leader of the faction of the battle. Like chess, If the king is killed... The faction itself loses or so has it been previous years. This role is not replacable unlike those below him/her. HOWEVER, the king can do a contract to switch roles with a chosen piece, preferably Queen.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual pressences of the other "pieces".
Augmented power - Their abilities and attributes are increased. (This does not mean the king can take on 2+ characters with this alone. Remember that relies solely on how the King can fight against the opnents)
Contract of Royalty - exchange crest with allied member of your faction.

Queen - (Lady)

♔♛

The queen acts and is known to be second in command below the king. If you were to go by a normal chess game, The queen is naturally known to be one of the strongest pieces. Part of that could be true but remember this roleplay is balanced. The queen primarily is to be a king's personal guard or loyal ally. Sometime's the queen could be mistaken to be king in some situations.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Queen Crest Augment - Their power is increased to fit the queen position. In addition, they have a boosted regeneration rate. (Doesn't mean they heal wounds immediately, think more along the lines of after a full 8 hours worth of sleeping)

Knight

♘♞

The Knight's have the ability to summon a vehicle or beast of choice to ride. They are naturally used to cover space and keep an eye out for incoming enemies.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Knight's Crest - Summons your vehicle or beast to ride.

Rook

♖♜

The role of a rook is to protected the Queen and King. Like chess, they have castling ability and can sense the danger in which a king could be in.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Castling - Use the crest's power to forcefully swap areas with the king. This can only be used when the king is truly in danger.
Detect the king - Can sense if your King is in danger.

Bishop

♗♝

A bishop in this roleplay is known to be the watcher of the group. They are stealthy and have the capabilities of having more eye range then other roles.

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Surpressed Spirit- Unable to be detected by others except the Queen.
Far sight- To see with a good eye. Sometimes even the smallest details never escape them.

Pawn

♙♟

Like chess, these pieces are usually seen to be the frontline. However, they have more promotional opportunities then those above them. In addition they can obtain any crest from the enemy given that the positions aren't taken on their side. For their side they can also revive their own. (Ex. A pawn witnesses their Queen die in battle. When things are clear they decide to retrieve the queen's body and revive him or her at the castle through RP of course)

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Contract Of Royalty- Having the contract will allow you and the king to use each other's power by request. You also have the choice to directly summon the king if not the queen by request as well if in need of assistance. Often this will give a signal to the one you want to summon by making their crest glow. Note that this can also be used at any time and not just in battle in case your character may have a bad feeling of something.
Revival - Can revive the any characters on their side with the crest of Queen and below.

Light surrounded him, stinging his retinas as his pupils shrank under the glare. His eyes trailed over to his left to see a strange, square device emitting strange noises as a green light erratically darted across its black face. Where in the stars was he? A sudden memory assaulted him, causing him to tense up. His fingers clenched the sheets as a spasm locked his every muscle. An excruciating stinging sensation attacked his heart as his hand desperately went to grasp it. He clutched his chest as his heart hammered loudly within, growing louder as though it would swell and burst. The heart monitor was beeping rapidly, attracting the immediate attention of a nurse.

“Oh my god!” she exclaimed before prodding the panic button on the wall.

Quickly, she approached the man’s bedside and slung her arms around him in her hurry to restrain him. Panting hoarsely, his icy orbs were large and unblinking, staring deeply into his mind as the delayed memory of death caught up to him.

Entangled beneath silken sheets, he and a woman with no face had slept in each other’s embrace. The palm of his hand rested against her belly and the other against her shoulder, clutching it gently as his face was tucked away in her ringlets of coffee-bean hair. She turned over in his grasp, her face devoid of features but the cream that made her complexion. She pressed her face against his in a sultry kiss. He had returned the kiss, groggily-so, drinking from her love as his hands groped her hip and combed through her hair.

While he was engrossed with her, the faceless woman reached between her thighs to remove a thin knife, gripping it tightly as she pressed her face harder against his own. The strike was swift, biting into his chest and startling him awake. The blade had been so sharp, it was as painless as a syringe, but the burning and stinging of his heart quickly followed. Blood gushed between them as the faceless woman clung to him, drowning him in his pain and fluids. He squirmed in her grip, thrashing against her thighs and arms to no avail. Weakness swiftly seized him and as his struggles ceased, she pulled back, her face sanguine and dripping as she leaned over to his ear, muttering words that were too distorted to remember.

The doctor entered the room with two other nurses and assessed the situation. Barely a wasted second later, he commanded, “You help her hold him, and you sedate him.”

The second nurse joined the first, helping her hold the patient down as the third nurse quickly pierced his neck with a strong sedative. As she squeezed the plunger, the patient began to relax, going limp in their arms as his eyes rolled back into his head.

“Who is this man?” the doctor questioned.

“I don’t know. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him. This is the first time he’s woken up all day,” the first nurse answered.

The doctor regarded the sleeping patient strangely unable to deduce his ethnicity. “As soon as he wakes up, let me know. We don’t need a John Doe on our hands.”

“Yes, Doctor.”

As the doctor and his assistants took their leave, the nurse dimmed the lights, turning the light switch until the atmosphere was at a comfortable setting. She then stepped out.

Later.

Beep…beep…beep. There was that noise again. His eyes cracked open, blue slits taking in the dark as he slowly pulled his face from his pillow to roll onto his back. A gentle darkness surrounded him…where was he now? Groaning softly, his hand went to his chest, feeling the crackle of paper as his hospital gown obstructed his inspection. Glancing down at his paper clothing, he rested his hands upon it curiously, sliding them up and down his torso as the paper crackled loudly. Why was he wearing paper?

With another groan, he sat up and ripped the paper over his left pectoral. There over his heart was a scar that had gone along with the dream he had encountered earlier.

Rubbing the flesh soothingly, he thought, No; hardly a dream.

He had been murdered and where he was now wasn’t the heaven or hell he was expecting. His eyes narrowed as a silver light began to etch itself upon the back of the hand that he was inspecting his old wound with. The brand of a white crown appeared, and then suddenly an eldritch voice filled his conscience:

Long live the king…

King…the word sounded familiar. So he was king in this after life? Strange that such a purgatory would need one, but the synopsis of the reality and its game were blossoming in his mind as though it was always there and he was remembering.

The door to his room opened as the nurse from before paused in the doorway, watching as her patient tore away at his gown to peel from his body the sensor pads.

“Stop! Don’t do that,” she exclaimed as she rushed to his bedside. She, however, found herself frozen in her tracks when the man’s ice-cold eyes settled on her. He stared at her like a beast and she clutched a corner of her dress nervously in her hand. What was she doing just standing there? He was awake and she could get his information. “Um…I’m going to go fetch the clipboard, and then I will ask that you fill in your information. I’ll be right back.”

He watched the nurse scurry away and immediately thought how unusual her language was. It wasn’t like any he’s ever heard on Estia and somehow he understood it. It was baffling to know a language that he has never spoken or heard.

“S…top,” he repeated on deep vocals, hearing how strange it sounded to his ears. It gave him an accent similar to Eastern Europe yet soft like Persian.

The nurse returned and as soon as she opened the door, she raised the back of her hand to her eyes to guard her innocence from what she was seeing. Her patient had shed his robe and was walking about the room touching all the appliances. Her cheeks were on fire as she spoke nervously, “Oh dear; oh gosh; Sir.” Geez, how did she manage to get into such predicaments? It had been a simple internship and already she was facing a story for her girlfriends. But why did she have to be such a rookie about it?

Another nurse saw the poor girl and walked over to check on her, “Emily; what’s wrong?”

The nurse blushed even more embarrassed to tell her coworker. “Um, well, noth-no…Okay, he’s uh…walking around naked in there. I saw him messing with his gown, but I didn’t think he would just rip it off.”

“So? You’ve washed butts before right?” the other nurse replied bluntly.

“This is different. I don’t know why, but it is.”

“Aw…you got a crush.”

“I don’t even know him!”

“It’s okay girl. I’ll take care of it.”

The other nurse took the clipboard from her and stepped into the room. The patient had found the window and had pulled the string, which drew up the blinds. He regarded the city in awe. There were so many strange lights of various colors that they lit the horizon in a halo of white and pink. In the distance, he noticed two prominent castles standing above the metropolis: one white and one black. He didn’t even need to look at his crest to know that the white castle was his. It glowed like the moon and looked to be carved from white coral and ivory.

“Excuse me, Sir,” the other nurse called. She stopped right next to him with the clipboard as Emily watched in admiration. She was such a strong woman! Either that or Emily was too much of a virgin. However, all that changed when the man looked at her with those wolfish eyes he had given Emily and faced the woman. The nurse’s eyes widened in shock, her eyes immediately flicking below his waist before fighting to remain locked upon his face.

“Oh my god……………here!”

She thrust the board at him in her anxiety and accidentally jabbed him in the gut with it. Emily winced and quickly rushed in there to save the girl before she did anymore senseless damage. He glanced down at the clipboard and took it, raising it before his eyes as he read over the foreign text. It was fascinating that he could actually read it and understand it.

As Emily peeked over the other nurse’s shoulder, she saw what she thought to be confusion on their patient’s face and she grabbed the dangling pen to hold it out to him. “Yeah, um, just fill out everything.”

Taking the pen from her, he flipped it around in his fingers curiously and clicked the silver button as its bronze tip extended and retracted. The device was strange but when he placed the tip to the paper, a black ink flowed out of it. Writing his name on the first line, the other information seemed irrelevant as he handed the clipboard back to the nurse. The two nurses stared at the foreign script. The ink swirled, looped, and sometimes made shapes they thought to be half of squares or some polygon. What language was it? They hadn’t ever seen it before, but then again, neither of them were linguists.

“Um, Sir, uh…we’re sorry but we can’t read this. Can you write in English?”

“Mah’tee’oos Croo’veh’n Do’mee’noos,” he sounded it out for them. He then responded rather slowly as the new language filled his mouth being what his mind felt to be the proper language to respond in. “I am Ro; I am your king.”

Having grown tired of this strange place, Mathius reached out to rest his hands upon the two nurses’ heads. He looked to one and commanded, “Bring me clothes.” He then looked to Emily unsure of what to tell her to do. The only command that came to his mind was, “…Stop.”

The other nurse stepped back and left the room to carry out her orders, while Emily remained there frozen and unmoving. Mathius’s attention returned to the window and the castles in the distance. He was interested in seeing what the black castle had to offer. What kind of a king ruled it, and what kind of champions did he have at his fingertips?

Midnight

Heavy Rain

Gardenia

Thunder roared with a clap as rain dawned from the sky. The city's lights were lit and bright yet the atmosphere felt still. As the clock struck midnight the bell tower sung. It only seemed to a unfamiliar ear that the ambience grew louder with every ring and it echoed among the rain's particles. Amidst the top of this very tower a glowing feather, colored black and white floated softly with a bright golden aura. The light could be seen from anywhere if one was looking in the sky as the radiant light stood out among the blackened sky. The feather gently made it's way to the ground of the tower's roof only to make a sudden flash of light that covered the roof top only dissolving gradually. The lightning and thunder continued roaring and clapping as the light disappeared from visions of a far yet up close the aura remained only to this time be covering a beautiful maiden, Nienna. She whom had wings upon her head yet to those unfamiliar it'd be a crown of feathers was upon the ground with her eyes shut but could feel the cold and wet ground beneath her as she could feel the rain drops upon her skin as if she were to be taking a shower. The tower's music hummed in her ear. The bell gave her mind a feeling that something was familiar yet she couldn't put her mind to it. As every ring of the bell hit the angel's ear, her eyes squinted only to open on the last ring. The maiden's sea blue eyes were revealed to the world as she woke from her slumber. The woman lifted her upper body, holding herself up with only her arms as she looked around. The eyes blinked at first but suddenly she felt a slight tickle upon her hand. The forming a crest through a divine light was made, a queens crest. Yet she remained unamused. Before her awakening she could hear the mystic voice that explained everything. To be given life again after death.. amazing beginning yet was this really the beginning for her? Obviously not for she had lived once although she does not recall it. The only things she knew was what she was... the language here... the natural language of elves of her realm and her abilities... Nothing else rung a bell not even her death. She noticed the bell only a good five feet away from her and it did give make her wonder but nothing came about. Yet there was were other thoughts upon her that needed attention...

Nienna finally lifted herself up before feeling her wings spread out as she felt her aura as well spread among. The wings shined so beautifully as they were expanded before coming back together. She looked side to side, looking for her castle which was said to be among them and there it was shining bright as day in the night lit sky. The angel's wings began flapping with strong wind pushed from them. Only feel herself rise into the air. She then began soaring towards the castle with speed yet she did wonder along the way whom was on her faction. As she made her way there she noticed something that caught her eye. A church sat alone among the square of the town. She quickly descended not knowing why but she felt a interesting radiance from the building...warm, calm and soothing... Perhaps it felt like her world had she remembered... She opened the door only to see the father turning around with eyes opened surprised...

“M-my lady!?” He said examining the angel's appearing before kneeling before her.

She didn't know what it was but she enjoyed the praise yet her thoughts rerouted her to her curiosity.

“Where am I...?” Nienna said.

“In the holy sanctuary of Gardenia... Hail the divine, This must be a sign! What has the gods come to tell me?!” the man in white robes said.

Nienna blinked before speaking “Listen, I do not know how much I could say but there is a battle coming and a war... and I need as much information as possible... Other then that... Priest, there is nothing more you can do then provide me when I come here with divine recoveries...”. The man looked wide eye yet nodded. He believe every word especially to the fact that out of all the years upon Gardenia not once did an angel physically appear among the priest. Little did he know that Nienna wasn't from this world. The priest gave her a little more information and insight before agreeing to help each other out until she had to go...

1:35 A.M.

Before departing, The angel turned to him and nodded using a little bit of her divine power to enhance the build with a holy aura. She then spread her wings and took flight. She flew the skies looking around at the nightly lit city that caught her eyes. Such beauty in the dark skies yet... her destination was her new “home”. She landed right at the door feeling rain drops fall upon her face. She could smell the scent of roses that carried to her nose but wasn't bothered by it. Her blue eyes stared at the door before looking behind her. No one was here, that was true seeing that she felt no presences even from the inside. Nienna made her wings shrink back to small ones before opening the door and letting herself in. Soaked, she could feel the water drip upon the marble floor. Every drop echoed lightly among the room yet this no bother, there were maids to clean it up. She figured it would be best to wait here before proceeding to her chambers so walked over to a small chair with a wooden coffee table next to it and sat looking towards the door waiting. As she waiting all she could think about was the game...

(Is now inside Seramel Castle)

Gadenia City Rooftops

Bells chimed in the distance, and thunder rolled overhead as the rains blanketed Kael's form. It was finally over. The war would be finished soon now, and at his own hand nonetheless. Centuries of fighting and needless warring of the Planes would soon be coming to an end due to the weakened strength of his father. They would join the Plane of Water, or would be crushed by the Plane of Fire. The thought of the Water Daughter brought a smile to his face as he imagined her smiling at him from wherever she was now. He had done the impossible, and turned from being the loyal soldier to becoming the rebel, bringing down the centuries old war that had put fear into the hearts of all those Kael had known. Yet there was a somewhat empty feeling now that it was all over. What was there in store for him now? What was after life for a being such as himself? Would he be swallowed by the Darkness? Or simply cease to exist? There were too many questions without an answer as Kael listened to the thunder shatter the skies above once more. It was then he realized he could feel his hands, and feet, and the rest of his body too. His eyes slowly opened to glance at the illuminating lightning tearing across the skies as his hand reached up to touch his face. Kael was dead.

The voice he had heard once everything went black was as real as the unbearable pain he had felt when the Darkness had crushed in all around him, tearing at his very soul. At the time he had thought it was the Water Daughter speaking to him, or he had hoped. But at this sudden realization that he was not dead, at least not anymore, that likely wasn't the case. Something he had heard from that voice jumped into his thoughts and he raised his hand from his neck to stare at the crest inscribed on it. A castle tower stood black where the color of his skin should have shown. A Rook… He thought. A player in a game. A game set in the stage of this....city. He was lying down, his legs dangling over the edge of a tall building as he lifted his head and pushed himself into a sitting position to look out at the lights and sight of the city. Peering down, he noticed a few figures moving about on the streets below and wondered at another warning he had been given. There are others in this place. Kael knew some were with him, and others opposed to him as well. And everyone of them was somewhere in this city at this very moment, just like he was.

Kael reached for the tinted shades that sat on the rooftop close to him and shook the rain off before placing them over his eyes where they belonged. It was past time he got up and off this roof, the game itself had already started. As he came to his feet, he could feel the build up in the skies above as another bout of thunder was about to roll through the heavens. Standing atop the roof high above the city, Kael let out a long laugh. He was alive again.

Stepping to the edge of the tall building, Kael smiled at the distance from his current point down to the pavement below. That was where he needed to go, find his allies, and finish the enemy. With that thought, he stepped into the air. Gravity took its turn and plunged Kael quickly toward the earth below. The rush was exhilarating as the winds rushed in around him and tore at his form. Half the distance was covered in a little more than a blink of the eye and Kael pulled on that familiar sensation that had made him what he was through the years.

Weaving the air currents around him into a vortex below him, Kael began to slow slightly as the earth shot up to meet him. Just before the impact, he lashed out with the air to slow him the rest of the way and push him skyward a few feet. Letting the currents drop, Kael’s feet tapped the ground with an audible click. The people close to the area gripped at their belongings and clothes at the torrent of wind that suddenly whipped up with his appearance. Some looked dumbfounded at his entrance, looking to him, then back up to the roof where he had leapt.

Walking through them all, a man stepped directly into his path and drew a breath to say something. Kael's left hand shot up before he could finish the breath and grasped the man's throat, cutting off any attempt at talking. "Get out of my way..." Stepping into the man, Kael quickly lifted and pushed back as he stepped to slam the man headfirst into the ground. The man instantly loss consciousness after the sickening crack associated with his head smacking the ground. Kael's hand left the man's throat and he continued walking away from the astonished few that stuck around. Striding quickly through the streets, he continued on, daring anyone to step in his way again. One war was finally finished, yet another had just begun.

"Let the games begin..."

ALAYSIA DUNOIR

G A R D E N I A

Groping about in the darkness, a pale hand weakly searched for an object that eluded it. With a clatter, the gently-shaped fingers briefly touched the handle of the item they sought, only to accidentally knock it away. With a quiet groan, the dark shape forced itself into a crawl, hauling itself forward and laying hold of the weapon before it. Drawing back its - no, her - fragile hand, the Homunculus fell back into a seated position against a small heap of rubble, raising the unmistakable item housing her soul over her head and gazing upon it, silhouetted by the light of the moon through the raining clouds as it shone down through the hole in the warehouse's roof, a hole she'd just inadvertently blown through it, it seemed. Trying to clear her thoughts, she aimed to recall what had happened to her to place her here, but her mind drew a blank. All she remembered was a flash of light, and a brief view of a landscape far, far below her. Then, traveling with the return stroke of a bolt of lightning, she had been cast down, down, down, like an angel falling from heaven, and sent bursting through the roof of the warehouse. The rain was falling through the opening, now, but her body was far enough out of the way as not to get hit by much of it. Still, it was inconvenient. Bracing her trembling legs, she slowly rose, trying to shake off the daze of her crash landing and to remember something... anything.

Then, in a moment, it came to her. Leaning against the wall for support, she slipped her pistol into a large, dark blue bag she found herself holding, then set this down at her feet. In an instant, her clumsy hands had begun fumbling with the top buttons of her blazer, then with those of the featureless white blouse below that. Pulling back her collar, she gazed down, and laid eyes on what she had expected to see: a large emblem in jet black of a six-winged sword driven through the center of a crown, running symmetrically between her shoulders from just below her collarbone to a spot just above the hollow of her chest, its darkness like a void against her pale skin, made all the more apparent by the silvery moonlight shining down on her. To most, the symbol would be an enigma, but she already knew of its significance. The crown symbolized royalty, while the six wings evoked the image of a seraph, a supplicant and servant of the divine. And the sword symbolized her duty: to slay the enemies of the crown she would serve. Then, the final message of the symbol was an indication of the role she had been chosen to serve. She knew not yet who her lord would be, but as for her... she was to find that person, and serve him faithfully as his queen, his most loyal and closest servant.

And there were others - bishops, rooks, knights, and pawns - here in the world for similar reasons. There was even another queen, serving another king. Alaysia couldn't remember enough to know how she knew this, she simply did. She knew enough, in any case. She knew her name, her powers, her strategies, her situation, and her purpose. Memories and other such matters could wait. For now, what was most important was to fulfill her duty. That was what she was created for. She didn't know how she knew that fact, but she did know it, nonetheless. And so, there was no purpose in dallying here. Swiftly refastening the buttons of her blouse and blazer, she swept out her arm, and, in a whirling of scarlet cloth, she found herself draped in a crimson raiment, a tattered yet concealing robe that hid her appearance completely from view. Stretching out, she found that she'd recovered from the impact, and smiled slightly. Evidently, enough of her had been in the form of lightning to largely negate whatever damage the landing might have done. Good. That made things simpler. In that case, she was capable of moving immediately, and without delay.

Her first objective, naturally, would be to locate her highest priority target: the lord she was to serve. As it was now her duty to assist and protect him, her first order of business would be to find him as quickly as possible. For that purpose, she supposed, she'd need some sort of vantage point. Then, she'd need to exercise her senses, and to locate him as fast as possible. This seemed like a reasonable enough plan, at any rate, and so, deciding upon this course of action, the Homunculus turned, picking up her bag containing her gun and hopping deftly up to the top of the pile of rubble created by her fall. Then, bracing herself, she leaped upward, out through the hole in the warehouse roof, and into the stormy night. Already, her violet eyes were scanning the darkened city, and her senses were already spreading out and into the metropolis beyond. Soon enough, she'd find her king...

Eri Soluce

Gardenia

Plip, plip, plip, rain fell steadily from the sky to plummet to the earth and coat everything with a fine sheen of water. Eri was no exception to that fact. With a soft groan, her eyelids fluttered open and her pupils contracted to adjust with the dark surroundings and bright lights invading her sight. Her head was tilted to the side, and the rain itself ran off the rim of her fedora. Blinking a few more times, Eri let out a small hiss of breath at the pain throbbing in the back of her mind. Her eyes trailed down a bit to focus on the darkness that surrounded her.

She could recall the faintest traces of déjà vu, and had the sinking feeling that she had fallen, but the question was why she hadn’t been crushed because of it. The feeling in her left hand suddenly registered to her brain, and again she shifted her view to gaze upon that hand. Black smoke curled through her fingers and around her palm, and that was when she groggily was reminded of her ‘specialty’ with shadows. They had apparently jumped up and cushioned her fall- and they did a fairly good job of it, too.

Her body convulsed with another shiver, and she shifted her dripping arms to wrap around herself in a futile instinct to cover herself for warmth. Of course, it only made it worse, as part of her was dry, and the other wet, and mixing them didn’t exactly bode well.

As she moved, the shadows dissipated and she fell the last few inches to the ground with a thump and a complaining groan in response. Thunder rolled loudly overhead, but Eri paid little mind to it, suddenly aware of some object in the pocket of her dress pressing a little painfully into her side.

Blankly she slipped her hand into it and pulled out a small wooden box and immediately opened the lid. A soft tune clicked into action and rang softly through the area around her, and another dull throb of a different sort began in the back of her mind. However, just as suddenly as she had opened it, Eri flicked the lid shut, and her hand rose to her throat. Her fingers brushed up the skin until they stopped at a mark she somehow knew was there.

Information began to stir in her brain, but it was slow until she leaned forward and gazed into a small puddle of rain water that reflected her image. Once she saw the mark of the bishop, the knowledge hit her immediately and without pause. ’Chess.’ She stopped the information from flowing for a moment to wrap her head around that one, and she had to let out a laugh. “I don’t even know how to play chess.” She grinned laughingly to herself at the fact she'd been chosen anyway, and then the thunder rolled again.

Eri looked over herself for a moment, making sure that all was well with her form, and then opened the leather bag at her thigh to place the music box in- a perfect fit, it seemed. At least she knew why she was here, and of the knowledge pertaining to her new role. But for now, she could care less about this game of chess, and more about her current state.

Getting up from the ground, Eri wiped the dirt from her dress and stuffed her hands into her pockets, a mild grin written on her lips as she began walking in quest of a store. The rain continued to pool off of her beloved hat as she wandered, and winds kicked up occasionally. On one spurt of air, she lifted her hand to hold her fedora down onto her head for fear it would fly away. She couldn’t let that happen, she really liked this fedora- it was like a part of her.

Her eyes suddenly locked on one of the stores, and her form stopped at the door. She tried the knob with a content look, and found it to be naïvely unlocked. “Oops.” She muttered with a wry grin, speaking for the shopkeeper’s mistake as she walked into the room. Her eyes scanned the shelves quickly before picking out what she sought. Striding over to the object, she plucked it off its rack and slipped her arms through the long sleeves and fastened three or four of the top buttons into their holes to protect her chest. After having finished that, she realigned the collar to fit more securely around her neck, and then started towards the door once more.

If she had the key, she would have locked the shop for the person who owned it, but seeing as she was short of such an item, she just shrugged and stepped back into the rain, relishing the newfound warmth and protection the long trench coat offered. She figured that one little coat missing wouldn’t screw over the economy of Gardenia, so she had pretty much no remorse.

However, while she was dwelling on the covering, a strong gust of wind suddenly kicked up and knocked the fedora from her head to carry it away. A look of comical despair filled her facials as she reached out for her precious hat, as if that was going to help. “My… hat….” Her lips trembled as if she were going to cry, but she then grinned faintly, showing that she was being overly dramatic for a small laugh.

And then, without another second to waste, Eri sprang into action, quickly sprinting after the object. Her feet continuously landed in water puddles, sending large splatters of water flying in every direction. ’At least the rain isn’t falling against me.’ She mused for a small moment before rounding a corner.

Tensed, the girl came to a splashing halt, having lost sight of her hat. Her eyes flickered around quickly until she caught the matching movement. ’Why does the wind have to be so mad?’ She groaned in dismay at how fast paced the item moved, and then started up again in pursuit.

However, after passing a rise in the streets, she saw the hat teasingly pause before sliding away from her and becoming airborne once again. Eri was definitely gaining on it, and another round of thunder rumbled through the heavens.

The hat was buffeted further by the wind before suddenly smacking into the back of a man (Kael Skye). Being pushed by the wind, it remained there for a few seconds- enough time for Eri to close the distance to only a handful of feet- before the wind pushed it upwards, forcing it to tumble over a few times and then slip right above his head.

Putting on a last burst of speed, she finished off the distance, and, leaping up, she outstretched her hand, her fingers closing around the rim of the hat right as it was departing from the man’s head. “Gotch-“, the bishop didn’t get the chance to finish her statement as she suddenly realized she was on an immediate collision course with the guy inches in front of her.

The force of her momentum hitting the lesser speed of the hat-stopping man caused them both to go crashing to the ground. Eri’s left hand was situated a few inches from his face, propping her up slightly, while her right hand clutched the fedora a small ways off the ground. The shadows had once more pushed up around her left hand so she wouldn’t injure her wrist from the impact.

However much her form was raised was quickly eradicated as she collapsed fully from the strain of holding herself up so awkwardly; however, the distance was hardly far at all, but the guy probably would have still felt the shift of her weight pretty easily. A sheepish look scrawled across her lips as she gazed down at the guy she had landed on.

“Uh, hi.”

Alexander Duodecim

Gardenia

Alexander felt vertigo as he fell from the sky, but he did not know what was happening. His eyes were closed and he was still a bit dazed. The rain was adding weight to him; making him fall down quicker than what would be normal. The cold jutted him to his senses and his eyes quickly opened. He heard a clock tower, but he paid no heed to the sound being made. He felt the prickle of rain on his body, and the dampness of his newly wet hair. He was looking up and his body was turned upwards, so it was inevitable for rain to enter his eyes. He managed to turn his body and look down, but this view was very unappealing. He saw that ground, growing? He was perplexed by the fact that the ground could grow, due to the adrenaline in his body messing with his usually logical mind. He quickly noticed the way the rain was falling, his features contorted into a face of shock. "How did I even get here?" He asked himself, hoping that this wasn't happening.

Due to natural instinct, he reached for his sword and prepared to fight, but there was no way for him to fight gravity with brute force. He decided to try thinking logically, since strength would be of no use without a strategy to back it up. He held his sword in front of him and he tried steering himself, since he would prefer to not land somewhere dangerous. He felt the strain on his hands increase as his speed increased, but he didn't stop trying to steer himself. He was suddenly distracted by a crest on his hand, a king's crest. He was no longer a prince, but instead, he was now a King. He felt an influx of information enter his mind. He now felt an obligation to fulfill his role, but he would have to survive this fall before doing anything. He felt much more courageous and determined to survive than he before. His eyes scanned the city of Gardenia, since he would need to figure out how to safely land. He was not going to lose this early, since he still felt a nagging at the back of his head. He felt as if he had something to accomplish back at his home, but he didn't even know where his home was or what he was supposed to take care of. He dispelled the thoughts about his history and focused on the task on hand, since the ground was getting much more closer.

He tried to make himself fall towards a building, since he could lessen the impact he would soon have to face. He grabbed his sword with both of his hands and stuck it into the wall of a building. He was cutting through it quickly and a line was appearing on the building. His sword would have broken, if he wasn't subconsciously using his "Dragon's Fang" ability. He quickly came to a halt and he felt the abruptness of the stop. He wondered why he wasn't splattered on the floor, then he noticed that his sword was...glowing. His sleeve was stuck on a part of the building, but he didn't notice. He pulled his sword out and he noticed that he would fall, but his sleeve managed to allow him some time to think. He jumped towards a ledge, tearing his sleeve in the process. He looked into a puddle of rain and saw this he looked different than he normally did. He concluded that the rain must have changed his appearance or that he was simply to excited to think anything logically. His hands hurt, but he ignored this pain and focused on finding his comrades. He wasn't too far from the ground, so he gracefully jumped and landed on the ground. He barely made any noise when he fell, since he timed his fall perfectly. He walked up to what appeared to be a stranger, but it was simply the shadow of a building. He walked into a building which seemed to be open. It's only inhabitants were a waiter and a simple customer. This building was a restaurant of sorts, it's name "Paradiso Eden". He entered, soaking wet, and sat down. He ordered a simple drink, so he could clear his mind. The drink wasn't alcoholic, so he didn't have to worry about having muddled thoughts. He didn't know how thirsty he was until after he saw the drink being poured. He drank it quickly, but he was still civilized and not barbaric.

"Okay, let me clear my mind. I'm in a world, but I don't feel as if I'm originally from here. I don't seem to have any memories, but I'm guessing my subconscious holds those memories. I appear to be a king..." He was talking to himself. His thoughts continued on to him trying to figure out his situation. ", I guess I should probably find the rest of my comrades." He finished his thoughts with this. He set down his drink and left a bit of gold on the table. He an idea of where he got the gold from, since he had the crest of a king. However, this gold was simply brought with him from his kingdom. He left the building, waving to the waiter as he left. The street was still being bombarded by rain, but he had grown accustomed to it. He went to a library, scientiam arce, smiling. He guessed that one of his comrades would him eventually, so he decided that he could spend time reading upon the history of Gardenia. He waved at the librarian, wondering if the librarian was one of his comrades. The librarian didn't notice the crest on his hand, so he assumed that she wasn't one of his allies, or that she was used to seeing those with crests. However, she did wave back and she had a smile, so he guessed that she was simply an innocent civilian. He would have started a conversation with the female librarian, but she seemed to be enjoying reading. He sat down at a table and took off the wet part of his upper clothes. Both his normal and Gardenia forms had one of his sleeves cut, but he would get his Gardenia form's sleeve fixed later on. He sighed and relaxed a bit, since his life was not in mortal danger. He stood up from his chair and grabbed a random assortment of books from the shelves, since he decided to pass the time by reading. He hoped that someone from his faction would find him, instead of someone from the rival faction. He sat back down and tried to focus on reading, but he was too excited to read. He eventually gave up trying to read and decided to instead wait for a member of his faction to find him. "This waiting is probably going to be the easiest thing I've ever done." He joked to himself, since he knew that this game of chess would be the hardest he has ever played. The books were now on the circular table he was sitting near. (Library, Paradiso Eden)

Ormir
Gardenia- Midnight

A woman lay motionless, curled tightly in the fetal position as if protecting something, in the middle of a small, tree filled park near the center of the city. Long, snow white hair covered her face and body like a blanket, stringy and damp in the steady rain. Suddenly, a resonating bell rang out the hour of midnight. The woman gave a groan as she woke, slowly opening her eyes to unexpected surroundings. Suddenly she bolted up to a sitting position, eyes wide and frantic as if she was looking for something, something that faded away like a dream before she could grasp what it was. She winced and grabbed her side, which felt oddly sore for some unknown reason though the pain faded quickly.

'Find those you must protect.'

The voice rang through her mind, though there was no one nearby. Ormir's face slowly turned toward the sound of the clock, listening closely as if its ring held the answer. It quickly fell silent, and Ormir gave a small sigh. She unconsciously began rubbing the inside of her left wrist, looking down at it after a moment. She saw a small symbol branded there, a black knight. She knew instinctively what it was, though she had never seen that symbol before. It was a chess symbol, and that meant there were other chess pieces somewhere, some black, as her symbol seemed to be, and others white. "Find those I must protect," Ormir mused. The words suddenly made sense.

She rose, feeling rather stiff, and wondered how she had come to be there and how long she had been there. Her memory gave no answer. In fact, she could remember practically nothing of what happened before she woke just moments ago. Deciding she had lingered there long enough, Ormir began the process of shedding her human skin to take dragon form, her pupils turning to slits, two horns appearing on her head. She realized, however, that something was wrong, and a sharp pain filled her as she attempted to force the transformation, causing her to collapse to her knees with a gasp. Her vision swam for a moment before she could focus once more, and she felt a certain emptiness at the part of her that was strangely missing. Her dragon features slowly faded, leaving her human in appearance once more.

She rubbed the inside of her wrist once more, looking around in confusion. Hearing a loud rustling behind her, Ormir sprung to her feet and whirled, surprised to see a night-black dragon approaching her. She could feel his thoughts and emotions, something she could normally do only in dragon form, but things were different here. Ormir felt in an instant that he had no desire to harm her, but only to protect and fight alongside her. His name was Ekuro, though the name itself came to her as nothing more than a feeling of who he was.

In that instant, a sort of bond was formed, and Ormir walked over to him without fear, laying a hand on his scaled cheek. He was meant to replace the part of her which was missing here. Ormir realized there was a saddle of sorts on his back, held on by leather straps about his neck and behind his wings. He showed her she was meant to sit there, communicating through an image in her mind. She leapt into the seat and Ekuro took off at a run. They soon left the park behind and Ekuro began looking for a tall building, apparently intending to jump off of to get enough momentum for flight. Ormir was surprised at first, but quickly accepted the oddity.

Though it was still raining, with the occasional thunderclap breaking over Gardenia, Ormir seemed to pay the weather no attention. Instead, she watched the city around them with a childlike fascination. The odd lights, brighter than any she had ever seen, illuminated the deserted streets. She wondered what sort of sorcery made the buildings glow like that. She marveled at how the light never seemed to flicker like a fire would. Whoever had made that must have been powerful indeed. The buildings towered over them, making her feel strangely small. Many of them seemed as tall as mountains. There must be powerful magics at work here...

Suddenly, Ekuro found a suitable building and charged toward it without slowing. At the last instant, he jumped, claws digging into the side of the building as he propelled himself up as easily as if he were running up a hill. Ormir shifted slightly, gripping Ekuro's sides tightly. When they reached the top, he pivoted sharply as Ormir held on, before he jumped. After a thrilling moment of free fall, his wings snapped open and they were flying.

'Higher,' Ormir requested softly, knowing he would hear her thought. Soon they were nearly in the thundering clouds, and Ormir could see the city in its entirety. A dark castle and a white castle stood on either side of Gardenia, like two hulking opponents lying in wait. Ormir and Ekuro swooped down toward the black castle, drawn in like moths to a light. Ekuro landed near the entrance to the grounds and Ormir dismounted, keeping one hand on his sleek shoulder for reassurance as they stood before the silent castle, illuminated only by an occasional flicker of lightning.

Ormir stood silently for a moment, taking in the large, ornate castle as she and Ekuro stood out in the pouring rain. The building was not just black in color, instead seeming to swallow all other color and light up. She stood and watched, fascinated, for some time to the exclusion of all else. Ekuro shifted slightly, looking to her to see what they would do now, and Ormir started out of her reverie. She looked at him, half confused for a moment, as if she had forgotten where she was. She turned her attention to the castle again, this time focusing on what might be inside.

Just looking at it, she felt that those she was looking for were not there. This meant she had no reason to be there at the moment either, especially if she was to find the others. She gave Ekuro a small nod, and swung herself back into the saddle. Ekuro trotted out of the large entryway and they passed through the quiet streets. As they came nearer to the center of the city, the few people still out gaped at the strange spectacle. Some even ran, screaming that there was a monster. Not wanting to attract so much attention, Ormir directed Ekuro to a deserted alleyway where he began to climb.

Soon, they were leaping from one rooftop to another, as Ormir watched the streets carefully, unsure what she should be looking for. Suddenly, she began feeling a slight pull. It almost felt like a flickering candle hovering at the edge of her consciousness. As they followed it, it became more exact, developing into distinct forms, like bright little flames. There must be the others involved in this game! Perhaps they were who she needed to find?

LOTTON CROMWELL

Gardenia

Lotton was falling fast from the sky. The rushing air and pelting raindrops annoyed him. He must have been falling directly vertically, and face-first. He wanted to fall with the raindrops, not have some splash in his face. Looking around, he could see other breaks in the raindrops, falling to the ground. They were scattered, but he felt like he knew of their purpose. Chess pieces, who were to fight a war. Thankfully, not many were, leading him to wonder where he was, and how long he had been falling, along with why he was not dead of re-pressurization. He must not be thinking lucidly. It felt like he woke up from a 5 minute nap he desperately needed. Adjusting his body for what he needed to do, he felt no memories of what had him in shock. Maybe he wasn't in shock, after all. In fact, he felt painfully normal. He pointed down, and smiled slightly, as he snapped his fingers against the air rushing up to hamper their movement. A little bit of theatrics always made him smile a little on the inside. A circular piece of spatial distortion, or rather, slice, appeared below him, a hole in the fabric of a single dimension. The exitway appeared below him, opening in the way of the empty street he was falling into. He fell through, and lowered his feet slightly to avoid tripping on the tip of the portal. He activated the Talos Apparatus, and skidded along the concrete, with a large amount of force, mitigated into a manageable amount on his feet. His speed was not diminished, though. His feet were only barely on the ground, gliding along with a large amount of frictional force. After he stopped moving, at the end of the street, he put his hands in his pockets before looking at the intersection in front of him. there was a car with headlights shining at him. Looking behind himself, Lotton saw what he left behind. The portals dissipated earlier, but, behind him, leading up to his feet, he could see scorched lines of flame on the ground. It was interesting to see that such a cartoony effect was possible enough to happen. How Lotton loved science. Hopefully the laws of nature here were the same or similar to what he was used to in his own realm. He waved at the driver with his free hand, and smiled. Removing his other hand from his hat, he realized he must have put it there subconsciously. With good reason too, because, to Lotton, it was a good hat. Walking out of the street, he let the the rain fall on his head and the rest of his body, keeping the hat on.

Sorting out his thoughts, he felt a feeling on his hand. Removing the black glove, he could see the crest of the rook. Knowledge was in his head as to what he needed to do. He could not remember a past, but he had guilt. He didn't know why, until he explored another corner of his mind. He had a huge technical knowledge of so many things. Magic, technology, philosophy, even how he obtained such knowledge. That was where the thoughts stopped. Horrible imaged appeared in his brain. Horrible experiments had been performed by him in the past. He knew that the experiments were the ones with which he could learnt he most, and they were original, to say the least, but he knew he was responsible for them. He moved the thought to the back of his head. If all of this counted as his technical knowledge, then that must mean everything else he did not remember caused him to do such things. He felt joy in the memories of learning. In fact, the guilt was diminished in the face of his memories of understanding. But still, he could not afford to lose that piece of humanity in him, not yet. He was looking down all this time, and realized he was dressed in very fashionable clothes. Picking up a coin on the ground, he activated the other glove he had still on, and expanded the nickel, filling the gaps with magic energy formations to keep the structure together. As it was now, minus the magic, it had a lower density than the surrounding air. What he formed was a rectangular mirror. He saw himself, and let go of the disproportionately-light object. Without his effort to keep it intact, the object shattered into pieces, crushed by the air pressure alone. It was less than a millimeter thin.

Now, onto business. He was a rook, and he had to find his king and other pieces of his faction. He had no idea what the enemy was like, but that wouldn't be a problem. He was a fast learner. Looking into the night, he saw the beautiful city. The rain dissipated the light and made shimmers of the synthetic lights. It was amazing, to say the least. Almost as amazing were the castles that stood at opposite ends of the city. One black, and one white. they were beautiful, but he did not have a massive knack for castles. Well, he would probably wind up sleeping in the white one for the foreseeable future. It was not a problem. A castle was luxurious to say the least. His allies, on the other hand, were an important part of the entire game. A nice walk wouldn't hurt, so he walked, hoping to get to the right castle. On the way, he sat down on a bench, and finally put on his other glove. Woops. He forgot all about it. He could go and meet any other piece, if he really wanted to. It wouldn't be that bad to produce a portal, and move it around the city quickly, slipping it under doors, and sensing the other pieces through the portal, but it probably would not be a good idea. Partly because a piece with good reflexes or speed could probably jump through, or shoot through, if they had such a weapon. Also, he couldn't choose which piece to find. In the end, he decided to wander the city a little more. He lay his head back, to stretch his neck, before sensing something moving in the air above him. Sensing what it was, he recognized it as another piece (Alaysia Dunoir). He had no idea if it felt him or not, but he did wonder if that seeming-flight was one of the capabilities of a piece. If it was, than the other pieces must be far more than ordinary people.

Enough fooling around. He needed to find an ally. The pleasure of having so many pieces to look for had diminished in the face of practicality. He wasn't that insane. He activated a portal, of small size, in front of his face, and another that moved around. Thankfully it navigated unnoticed, but it had also not sensed a single piece until it reached a Gardenian hospital. There, the presence of the other piece was apparent through the portal (Mathius Cruven Dominus). (At Gardenian Hospital, Outside.)

Ryuu Shosuke

Gardenia

The rain trickled over her body, steam wafted through the air carried by the cold droplets of rain. a bright vibrant figure sat alone in the middle of a courtyard, still as a statue almost like she was meditating.

Vibrant red hair that fell to the floor plastered delicately against the features of her body and face, obscuring her eyes from view. The steam came from a black sword she held in her arms, it radiated heat of such extreme temperatures one could see it radiate from it’s darker than black blade. Yet it did not burn the beautiful woman, rather it kept her warm though it did not help dry the clear liquid that drenched her clothing.

The sound of bells ringing in the distance accompanied by a voice mentioning something of a war that she would partake in as a second chance at life. But she did not want a second chance she was happy with how she died though she couldn’t remember why. This upset her greatly, the thought that she couldn’t remember her own death unsettled her, but these thoughts gave way to logic. If she did indeed die then there was no reason to remember her past life as it would only get in the way of her second chance.

Suddenly her eyes snapped open to reveal fiery orbs that were her eyes; they glowed in the gloomy light a stark contrast to her gray surroundings. In a single movement the woman stood, baring her blade to whoever dared to bother her. But the courtyard was empty, “sorry Chomesku looks like you won’t taste the flesh of life for now” her voice held a sad note to it, it complimented the hollowed look on her face as if she were thinking of something terribly sad. This woman was Ryuu, who looked at down at her arm at the slight burning sensation on her arm. In a simply ripple a white crest appeared on her arm, a knight . “Then I must serve my king and queen, what disgusting individuals with their useless sayings of love for their subjects . . .”

Ryuu sheathed Chomesku placing her at her back and it was quite noticeable how Chomesku was as long as the woman was tall, but she handled her with ease. Ryuu looked around hoping to find her bearings, hoping she would find what she was looking for. “ah there you are” her red eyes settled on a white castle that glowed in the distance across from it stood an equally elaborate castle but this one was pure black. “Interesting so you are my opponent, hope you don’t disappoint me” her voice light and playful.

And with that saying Ryuu headed in the direction of the white castle whistling a mournful tune, accompanied by a sad expression on her face. Chomesku was held over her shoulder but the heat she emitted from her black body was little sensing the sadness her master held in her, and for the first time in a while Chomesku stayed silent. Ryuu was glad for this as she did not wish to hear the berating whispers of her sword whenever she missed a potential meal.

Ryuu jumped from rooftop to rooftop a huge grin on her face that felt out of place despite the sadness that welled in her chest, but for now she let herself feel the exhilaration that came with running at such speeds and being so high from the ground. With the rooftops being slicked with water it made the possibility of her slipping even more probable. Ryuu thankfully didn’t fall, not that she would but she did stop abruptly when she felt a sudden presence(Mathius Cruven Dominus) and then a second (Lotton Cromwell)

She stood still as a statue and Chomesku suddenly flared in heat at the possible thought of tasting and burning flesh. “Hush Chomesku I know you’re hungry but they are on our side” Ryuu snapped at her sword who quieted down some but not really. (Rooftop of Gardenian Hospital) Ryuu stood there for a moment, seeing a man (Lotton Cromwell) appear outside the hospital. This made her lose interest in the fact that the man would soon deal with the presence inside and with that Ryuu continued on her way to the white castle that glowed in the distance but was much closer than before (on way to Seramel Castle).

Gardenia Aqueducts

"A new meaning to Wet Dreams."

Wet. That was the understatement of the century. Water rushed over him like a bad dream, gasping and clawing, not knowing if he will live to see another day. Fear was all he could feel in his heart, as the bitter, stinging cold was relentless in it's efforts. The efforts being to keep him cold and damp. Where was he? What was going on? All questions are irrelevant, What's going to happen now? Is all that is relevant. Memories, memories more like nightmares were abuzz in his head. Such dark and terrible thoughts, one's that small children would claim to be nightmares. Fortunately for them, they weren't living one.

Jean-Pierre raised his head out of the rushing water. He appeared to be in some river that has...walls? Despite the oddity of a river needing walls like a house, he was nevertheless swept into a strong current. A current created by this blasted rainfall. He tried his best to swim against this current, such effort was folly. There was no chance of fighting it, he must allow it to carry him. He was swept away as the water rushed to an inevitable stop. Well a stop for solid debris. He was whisked down what he considered to be a waterfall. The drop was angled more like a slide into a river that was heading for bars. Bars like in a jail cell. Jean-Pierre was unceremoniously pushed against it. He held on to the bars and readied himself as he used them to lift his upper torso.

Here he was stuck between a rushing current and iron bars. The current was far too strong for him to swim back but as luck would have it a side walk was there. He need only reach it. Using the bars he shimmied across the river and placed a hand on the side walk. He then proceeded to climb by placing a foot on the bar and lifting with his arm on to the sidewalk. Soon both hands found solid ground as he pushed himself upwards by using the bars and his feet. He then rolled to the side and panted in exhaustion. He coughed several times exhaling the water caught in his lungs. He rolled on to his stomach as he finished his bout of coughing. He had no idea where he was, all he knows is that it's raining. He needed to find shelter.

Despite their being walls there was no ceiling for the river...well, ceiling that isn't on his side of the bars. Seeing as the river runs into some tunnel he went to enter. The bars though did not leave ample space for him to squeeze through. He tried but could not even fit half his body through. He then shook on the bars like a wild ape trying to pry them loose. Alas he hadn't that kind of strength to bend and break metal...but someone did. He dared not think of using HIS power...but what choice was there? He could call for help. Not exhausting all options Jean-Pierre yelled, "Help!" "Help!" "Hel-" He then suddenly coughed. His voice was coarse and in pain. He began yelling for help but couldn't manage a decent volume. No one did come when he did yell.

It seemed the rain was beginning to make him sick. He sneezed as he felt his nose swell with mucus. Would he catch his death out here? It was then a familiar sound echoed within. He shook his head but then violently twisted his neck. He herked and jerked like a pigeon bobbing it's head, and then his eyes...changed color. They were gold as his teeth changed slightly to fangs and claws began to emerge. Still having some control he lifted his arm as it began to bulge with new muscle and then he swiped. He dented the bar. With a roar he placed his hands upon the bars and with ferocity ripped them out of their sockets. He tossed them aside abruptly and ran into the tunnel. (Entered Gardenia Sewers).

Gardenia Sewers

Once he entered the tunnel he wrestled with himself. He fought against the furious thoughts running through his mind. He was subject to remember the beast's anger. Anger over death. He could barely hear his thoughts, as IT'S words meshed with an eldritch voice. The voice speaks of conflict and factions. He understood very little but did gaze upon his hand to see an odd symbol (♙). He wasn't sure at first but he's seen it before. If only his mind was clear. His claws began to grow and retract, as he fought against himself. He hadn't known it but he soon lost himself in a labyrinth of tunnels, all of which are underneath a city.

His fangs grew and reduced his eyes, change from bestial to human. He roared and then yelled as his body faltered. He changed from human towards some sort of mutant, and back again. Towards the end he won...as he collapsed on the sidewalk. He heard the waters of the sewers as he fell unconscious. The voice returned. He was to be a soldier, in an ancient war...his side was waiting. Jean-Pierre didn't know what to make of it...all he could do at the moment was rest. And rest he did.

Seraphina Celosia

Gardenia Park

BANG! A loud noice sounded from what seemed like all directions around her body. Seraphina woke up with a scream that somehow escaped from her mouth. She felt soaked to the bone and utterly cold from it. She looked up to the dark sky and saw tiny droplets of rain showering over the landscape and all over her already wet body. If there was one thing in the world that she hated most, it was having wet clothes and hair. The way that the fabrics stuck like glue to her skin and how it felt when you walked...she shuddered at the notion of having to walk around in the middle of nowhere in her tattered damp clothing. Seraphina especially didn't like how her hair did the same thing, yet the only thing that her hair didn't cause, that her clothing did when wet was make her chaff in all the wrong places.

She sat up and looked around herself. Her face contorted into a confused and worried expression. Where am I?...She thought as she felt the ground around her wet. It felt squishy and moist as she massaged the ground with her fingers, just getting a feel of what type of ground she was on. Grass, wet grass...She thought to herself feeling a bit perplexed. Seraphina hadn't a clue in the world where she was or how she had gotten there. Her vision was blurry and she brought her hands up to her face and rubbed her eyes trying to correct her vision. Sera stopped rubbing them and looked around confused still. She saw a vibrant green, flat terrain with a few foot high hills in some places. She turned her head to the left and saw a swing set along with a clump of 4 or 5 trees. Sera, now feeling even more confused than she was when she had first awakened, was beginning to wonder how she'd find anything that she could recongize.

Seraphina sighed annoyed and puzzled. Bringing her hands back up, she buried her face in her palms, groaning quite loudly. She closed her eyes and laid back on the ground frowning still covering her face. When she opened her eyes she took her hands off her face, dragging them.

Suddenly, Seraphina saw soemthing glow. She shot up like a bullet exploding from the barrel of a gun, looking around on high alert. All she saw was a glow or at least a flash of a glow, but none the less she didn't knwo what the source of the light was or who. Seraphina looked around and slowly raised her body off the ground and got in a defensive position, ready to take anything that someone threw at her. She looked at her hands and let out a surprised and frightened gasp. She looked on her hand and noticed a marking that was glowing black. It looked like a piece to a game she used to see old folks in her neighborhood play. She forgot what it was called but something in her mind was screaming at her, "Pawn."

Seraphina straightened her small posture and studied the crest. She was almost afraid to touch it, thinking it might burn her finger tips. She brought herself to bringing her other index finger to the middle of the crest, then quickly taking it away as if it were too hot for her to stand. When she realized that it wasn't burning the skin on her, she slowly brushed her fingers feeling it. It hadn't hurt her when she touched making it not like a tattoo, and if anything she found that it felt similarly like a birth marking of sorts, yet what confused her was how well detailed it looked.

"What the..." She whispered out loud to herself puzzled by the strange marking she now possessed. Seraphina looked around and couldn't see much but realized she was in a park of sorts and needed to find some shelter or somewhere to get some food. She realized how hungry she had gotten and started walking to a few buildings she could barely make out. Soon she was at the edge of the park and stood a step away from the curb. Contemplating whether she should go left down the street or right down the other, or perhaps she'd just continue her trek through this unknown city by going straight, through an ominious and eerie looking alley. Seraphina just wanted to transform and run through the streets of the city, but her gut was telling her that that was a horrible idea since even though she didn't see anyone on the streets she knew that exposing herself as a monster would ruin her chance at surviving here.

Suddenly a loud announcer sounded through a speaker all around her. It told her that she had been given a second chance at life and that there was a war that she had to be apart of as part of her "contract" for getting the second chance at living. Seraphina stood in shock on the side of the road thinking, "How in the world did I die!? I can't remember how this happened!" Sera brought her hands up to her head and tugged at her wet dark gray hair slightly feeling contflicted and overwhelmed with too many emotions all at once. Saddness, anger, rage, redemption, and courage. Even though she knew that she had died she pushed all her emotions away and focus on finding shelter. For a weird reason, she mind and body kept urging her right. She decided to go with her gut since so far it hadn't been wrong and besides being dead she figured that now she didn't have anyone to let down yet.

She made her way through the foggy rain and looked up seeing something totally new to her. She raised her hand to her eyes creating a cup above her eyes to try to keep the rain out of her eyes, which helped only a small bit. She could barely make out a castle that was black in color, or at least thats what she saw. Seraphina sighed spitting the rain water that had dripped into her mouth out and onto the ground to her left. She could barely hear the spit hit the ground over the semi-loud pitter patter of the rain against the asphalt on the street. Seraphina only thought of one thing now...what wonders or horrors would she find in the castle that her gut was telling her held something important for her.

Ryuu Shosuke

Near castle

Ryuu had been running across rooftops for some time now. Chomesku kept growling at her in anger, mainly due to the fact that she was hungry but Ryuu ignored the complaints coming from her sword. Even when she could feel the heat emanating from her black blade, Ryuu simply held her silence.
The rain had now soaked her completely, but thanks to Chomesku, Ryuu stayed relatively warm though she would shiver every now and then. Nearing the white castle Ryuu paused for a moment, shifting Chomesku on her shoulder, so she wouldn’t slip and eat at whatever she could get at without her wielder.

Ryuu thought of what she might meet once she entered the castle but finally made the decision to just go inside. And with that Ryuu walked the last few feet to the entryway of the estate of the castle. As she walked closer Ryuu could smell roses, in the watery wind and calmed down. Even Chomesku had lessened her heat, and because of that Ryuu was glad this would be her new home. But then a thought entered her mind what will they be like, those I have sworn to protect and follow orders and those who I lead in their stead. She frowned, her gripped tightened on the strap that held Chomesku, who sensing her master’s unease suddenly flared with renewed fire.

Ryuu sighed, angry at herself for having such thoughts while in the presence of her sword and she finally calmed down too shaking her head, Ryuu walked the rest of the way to the door. Heasistating just for a moment on whether or not she should continue but with the heat at her back, and opened the door.

She was met with emptiness and such extravagant surroundings Ryuu felt out of place, walking around a look of awe on her face. Her hands trailed the walls, leaving watery footprints in her wake. Then stopping she concentrated and felt a presence (Nienna Elanesse), but chose to ignore it and continued to explore the castle. (inside Seramel Castle exploring)

Gardenia

Continuing his trek through the streets of Gardenia, Kael's mood was significantly better than it was earlier. The few citizens of Gardenia that Kael happened to pass in his progress through the city didn't seem to share his sentiment towards the storm tearing across the heavens. Most of those he came across hurried across the street or into some building as quickly as they could in a vain attempt at staying dry. Others that noticed him seemed to scurry away just as fast, helping to avoid any further occurrences like the one that had occurred after his descent to the city's streets. Yet all of them had a direction or some sort of a destination in mind as they rushed about in the rain.

Where the hell am I going anyway....? The thought popped into Kael's head suddenly as he paused on his journey to nowhere. He really had no destination in mind and could have been wandering aimlessly around in circles for all he knew. Perhaps he should have stuck to the rooftops to get a better vantage point as he proceeded. A vantage point only helps when you know where you--

The thought was cut off abruptly when the crest on his hand began to throb slightly. A tingling sensation filled his hand as the image of the Black Rook pulsed slightly, feeling as if thousands of tiny pins and needles were dancing across the shape. A sort of warning seemed to be displaying itself, yet Kael had no idea what it meant.

Shaking out his hand, Kael tried to make the feeling go away in vain. Not knowing what was causing it was irritating him even more so than the actual sensation. during this short and irritating process, the wind began to pick up from behind as the rains continued to fall on the city. A light bump tapped his back and he spun toward the feeling, causing a slight shift in the winds surrounding him. This shift brought a blur up in front of his face as what appeared to be a hat sailed a little ways above his head.

Without warning, a hand shot out and caught the rim of the hat easily, bringing Kael's from the hat to the arm's owner (Eri Soluce). The woman smashed into him and took them both over in the collision. Taking the impact of the ground squarely on his back, Kael was slightly winded by the blow. He didn't know if she was holding herself up or if she was just really light, but Kael was able to draw in a breath unhindered before his question was answered. All at once, she dropped the few inches she was elevated to rest her body weight.

"Uh, hi."

Kael blinked as a drop of water rolled off her lime green hair to land on his shades. He would have traded all of his gifts at that moment to be able to read people's minds. He had always been horribly bad at reading faces and couldn't discern what he saw on her face at that moment. But it didn't matter once he spotted the mark below her chin. A Black Bishop. So this is one of the people he would be fighting with? Suddenly this game doesn't seem so bad... he thought.

Rolling over, Kael reached around her back to keep the woman from falling as he pulled her up behind him. "Nice catch," he said gesturing to the hat. Reaching out to touch the mark below her chin, the touch felt harmless after the actions of the past few moments, he shifted his gaze back to her eyes. "Bishop? Hmm, I would've guessed a Queen... Kael Skye, I'm guessing I'm our Rook. And obviously not the sturdiest castle out here...." He said, indicating their collision and fall as he held up his hand to show her the crest. "Something special about that hat? Or was it my winning smile that made you want to tackle me?"

Mathius
Gardenian Hospital
On a Random Hospital Floor

The hospital had fallen into chaos. Mathius walked the halls in his new clothes [a black hoodie, blue button-up plaid shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers], leaving medical personnel frozen in his path. After seeing how many doctors and nurses were petrified in the corridor with shocked expressions, the other personnel resorted to hiding, huddling behind work desks and ducking into rooms, while Mathius tried to find his way out of the maze. Never had he been inside a structure so complicated. The tower had several winding hallways that all looked the same. The master of the tower was a clever man for inventing such a riddle, but Mathius was determined to escape.

"Don't move!" a man shouted, coming before the sorcerer in a black uniform and a strange object directed at him like a sword.

Mathius regarded the device curiously. It didn't have a blade or arrows.

"Put your hands up, and I mean really up!" the police officer ordered.

Who was this warrior? He was different than the nurses and doctors that surrounded him. The shiny badge on his chest made Mathius wonder if it was the relic that made him function. If so, then the level of magic that surrounded him was staggering. The Tower Master's magic was extraordinary. He couldn't even sense it.

Raising his hands high above his head, Mathius ordered, "You will take me to your master."

The cop cautiously approached him and replied facetiously, "You'll get to see him soon enough. You move, then I'll shoot."

The sorcerer didn't move any further as the cop came around his side to stand behind him. He holstered his gun and then grabbed the sorcerer's arms, drawing them behind his back as he got out his cuffs and locked them about his wrists. Mathius arched a brow at the feel of cold steel and when he tried to draw his hands apart, he met resistance.

"Shackles?" the sorcerer asked in confusion.

The link between the handcuffs suddenly snapped when Mathius effortlessly brought his hands before him to stare at the lustrous device. It had been too fancy to be the shackles he was imagining.

"Jesus," the cop gasped. There were only a few cases where a convict had the strength to break his cuffs, but he had never encountered such cases in his career until now. His hand went to his taser as he watched the man. He hadn't made any attempt to escape him. He had mostly just been saying crazy things. Master, shackles...he could possibly have a nut job on his hands. He gazed down the hall at the motionless medical staff...what the hell was going on here? Returning his attention to the criminal, Mathius's sharp, wolfish eyes turned over his shoulder to regard him.

"What's...What's going on here? Did you do that?" he asked pointing to the staff.

Mathius turned around to regard the still humans. "They got in my way."

He examined the cop's shocked expression. "Is not the magic of your lord just as powerful?"

"Magic? What..." the cop stared at Mathius as though he were crazy. He really did have a maniac on his hands, but the people...Laughing softly, the cop glanced around the hospital. "Ha, I get it now. This is all a joke."

The sorcerer frowned, losing interest in the golem. He started to walk back down the hall when the cop removed the taser and pointed it at his back. "Stop! Whether this is a joke or not, I can't let you go. Call out the camera crew, this prank has gone on long enough."

"What are you talking about?" a nurse exclaimed from one of the rooms. She had the door cracked and remained out of the sorcerer's view. "That man did all of this. He's dangerous! Stop him!"

The cop feeling pressured by the nurse's panicked screaming watched the criminal, his finger curling about the trigger. The taser released, firing down the hall to strike the sorcerer in the back of the neck. Mathius froze when he felt a sudden pinch at the skin just below his nape. His eyes widened in surprise, his left hand reaching for it until suddenly the volts followed. Every muscle in the sorcerer's body locked up and immediately he collapsed in a fit as electricity passed through his body. The staff that had been petrified were released from the spell, some collapsing while others sighing in relief. The cop glanced over his shoulder as the hospital became active again. People were coming out of hiding as the cop kept the sorcerer charged. He still hadn't a clue what had happened.

Gardenia Sewers

"The Kindness of Strangers."

He lied there, like a fallen log. Unmoving, unflinching, and most of all unconscious. His mind was a violent whirlpool of thoughts, fears, and hopes. He heard voices upon voices, none was more louder than HIM but he continues to hear instructions it seems. Pawn, War, Factions...all of it continued to come through. He wasn't sure what it meant but he understood and so did HE. He was found wearing nothing but rags for pants. Some homeless passerby stumbled upon the body of Jean-Pierre. He worried about the man and seeing his state, he felt sympathetic. He tried to rouse him, but all attempts were futile. Seeing no more options the Homeless man carried Jean-Pierre to safety.

The Man soon came upon exit from the sewers a large gated entrance used for maintenance. It was through here they would exit and the man would bring him to his home. (Exited Gardenia Sewers)

Gardenia City-Underpass-Shanty Town

Jean-Pierre began to feel life once again. Warmth returned to his body and for once he felt at ease. It was then he awoken and then suddenly launched himself out of a makeshift bed and landed on the ground. The man then raised his hand in soothing fashion, "Calm down friend, your fine." He humbly spoke. Jean-Pierre was a bit thrown off by the man sitting across from him. His accent odd, but it sounded like he spoke English. "Où suis-je ?" Jean-Pierre spoke in French. The man then raised his ear to him, as he was confused by the words just spoken. "Excuse me come again?" The man asked. "W-where...am...I?" Jean-Pierre spoke louder, this time trying to use his English.

The man then nodded as he understood him. He was glad the person was able to understand his English despite his accent. "Why your in my home, well really all of our homes." As the man raised his arm encompassing all of the other makeshift homes and people. Jean-Pierre looked around. The town reminded him of the Slums in Paris. Poverty it seems, is always everywhere. Jean-Pierre nodded. The man then looked at him as he motioned for him to sit next to him. "Come on." "You'll be less cold if you sit by the fire." The man said as he tended to the fire burning it what looks like a metal barrel. Jean-Pierre did sit by the fire as he used it to get warm he the noticed he had a coat wrapped around him. "Ah yes, that was mine but you look like you need it more." The man spoke. "Merci." Jean-Pierre spoke.

"Huh?" The man spoke as he raised his eyebrow. "Thank you." Jean-Pierre spoke again in English. "Before I forget to mention, your accent is strange," He paused as he tended the fire again, "Were are you from?" He asked. "France." Jean-Pierre replied. "Hm?" "France?" "Never heard of it." He spoke. Then Jean-Pierre raised an eyebrow in confusion. Who hasn't ever heard of France? It was only one of the most powerful nations in the world. Or since he seems to speak English is he being an arrogant Brit, and ignoring the French nation. "You are an Englishmen, no?" "How can you not know of France?" Jean-Pierre asked a bit astounded.

The man gave him a strange look, as if he was the one who was crazy but decided to oblige, "Well sorry I haven't." The man sincerely spoke. Jean-Pierre felt a bit put-off from the man's words but still he gave him a coat when he is in rags, and a fire too. So Jean-Pierre shouldn't be upset with the man, even if he does say he knows nothing of France. Jean-Pierre sat there looking in to the fire as he struggled to remember more of his life. He knows he is a Frenchman but what else? It was so frustrating not to remember anything else of his life. Not to mention where he is and what these instructions mean to him. Still, at least he learned English back some time ago. Even trying to think of when he learned English is foggy. Why does he know next to nothing of his past?

Every time he tries he feels HIM and guilt. One thing is for certain he knows all to well about his roommate and how destructive he is. Which brings him to worry about the people here. He doesn't want to become HIM and hurt these fine people. He wouldn't be able to live with himself after the hospitality they've shown him. Hell, he can't even live with himself now. The Beast forces him too though...so his best defense is to remain in control. Easier said than done. Even with the Beast he continues to feel these new sensations, as if he knows where other people are without even knowing where they are. He seems to have such an exact feeling he could tell when they move away. Why is he feeling this for? Is it because of the instructions? He then suddenly remembered to mark on his hand. He raised his right hand to see that mark again. This time he could tell what it was, a Pawn. Pawns are used in chess correct? Is he supposed to play Chess? Or something like that.

He placed his hand round his body to keep warm. He was glad these people decided to use this large, roof for covering. The rain beyond is brutal. Which makes him wonder who would place such a thing and why? He shouldn't complain it provides ample cover. Yet, it's design seems familiar...a bridge perhaps? Jean-Pierre thought, soon his concentration was broken by the man. "So what were you doing down in the sewers?" He asked. "Trying to find cover from the rain." Jean-Pierre spoke. "Ah I see, well the sewers don't help much, in fact it's probably worse down there, with all of the rats y'know?" He spoke. Jean-Pierre merely nodded. "You don't talk much do ya?" He rhetorically asked. Jean-Pierre only merely nodded. "Well it's getting real late, I should get some rest." He spoke, "Have a good night." He spoke as he entered that shack and left his view. Jean-Pierre continued to look into the fire as he continued to feel out other things. All the while the Beast stirs...

Seramel Castle

Nienna was sitting down with her head in her hand and her eyes closed. It felt empty in the room yet she could hear the maids working not to far from the room. The angel was surprised that they didn't hear the door open but at the same time she didn't care whether they did or not. The maiden wasn't up for idle chit chat. However... them living her would prove to be quite some information. Her eyes slowly opened as she felt the presence approach. Her eyes beamed towards the door waiting to see whom it was. As the door opened a girl was revealed. Quite a tall female but that mattered not to Nienna. The girl walked in and it was obvious that she felt the angel's presence but continued along to explore.

“Don't get lost...” Nienna chuckled as she saw her go in the darkened halls of the castle. She herself stood up and wondered ”Where is the king... who is he...?” There was always the possibility that that girl could've been it but to the angel's eyes she looked weak, yet she'd never say it to her.. Observations must be made first. The angel walked outside and felt the cold rain fall upon her once more. No one was near yet to Nienna's mind, if everyone was summoned at the same time, there was no way everyone is too far away. The angel stuck out her palm collecting the droplets as they fell. It wasn't long until she began singing and as she did this a light radiated from the angel.

This was only something to pass time as her fellow allies appeared but she wondered “This game has started from the moment we woke up... Is it possible for them to encounter each other and clash blades early... What if the king were to be first” This suddenly made her stop singing and form a fist with the same hand that was out.

“Damn...”

Nienna began to walk towards the exit of the castle and once again walked down the concrete walkway into the city. No one was close. She would feel it wouldn't she? Was this good.. or bad...? Nienna suddenly sprouted her wings and took flight heading towards the building of looked like a hospital. As she flew over she could suddenly feel one presence (Lotton Cromwell) and then suddenly another but it felt faded. Was she too late?

“W-why am I worried so much?” She asked herself before answering herself. The angel noticed vehicles and sirens going off from the outside and inisde as she descended upon the building. Her wings suddenly disappeared as she rushed to the door opening it cautiously and closing it behind her.

Gardenia – Hospital

Nienna didn't exactly now where to go from her but she figured to keep following downstairs as the presence grew closer. Right before making it on the same floor she stopped herself from opening the door. The thought that came to mind was when she suddenly remembered that this could very well be a trap. Opposing sides can feel each other.. The presences could very well be two of the opposing. She smirked before letting her spreadding her wings and letting off her divine presence as if she were ready for battle. She suddenly pushed the door open after summoning her staff. This all came to her mind until seeing suddenly a man with what looks to be a weapon over a guy on the ground. This suddenly was interrupted when someone screamed.

“Angel!!?!”

The cop turned around “What in god's I- mean..er. “ It was obvious he was confused. Nienna suddenly walked towards the two men taking her staff and smacking the guy out of the way before kneeling to the ground looking at the man (Mathius's body) examining it. She suddenly spotted all she needed.

“Thanks...”

The cops and everyone were still stunned yet this only lasted until Nienna picked up the body. The cop seemed to regain his senses and yelled “Don't touch the body or I'-I'll shoot!”. People looked at him as if he were crazy to shoot a servant of their “god”. Nienna shook her head and covered her and the body she held with the wings before rushing to a wing and bursting through it. The officer did shoot and as such a few of her wings fell which personally did piss her off but nothing she could do about it. As she flew out the window and began flapping her wings she looked down to see if the presence she felt was still around and if that be the case she wanted to know who or what it was.. The girl landed on a building that was two buildings away with few lights. She hoped that this same presence would follow her but worried at the same time if “others” would find her first...

Another piece passed overhead, and left quickly (Ryou Shosuke). Lotton had a passing sense of it, but it left, quickly. Lotton did not perceive it as a threat, and then waited for the piece inside (Mathias Cruven Dominus) to make a move. He waited for a short while.

...

Lotton stood there, hand behind his back. His House of Cards allowed him to bring objects he, "carried," with him to be brought out of seemingly-nowhere, as long as no one could see where he brought the items out from. If they could acutely sense, that would qualify as well, but, even then, there were ways. Like portals. He stood like that as his senses began to kick in. He was a human, and one might think that he was a stranger to combat, but he was not. Lotton was usually on very high-alert. His senses would become sharper, his mind clearer. He was not a bloody knight who fought without a reason but to fight, but fighting was calming, in a way. He reacted to fighting as a scientific problem, peeling back layers of defense until he was ready to destroy the vital organ underneath those layers. His technical knowledge returned to him, but a side of it that was different. He could see himself leading and operating in teams that fought and hunted some experiments that ran loose. Often, the more dangerous ones killed more people. But through it all, Lotton survived. He always killed what he was aiming for, because that was what he always had tried to do. To kill. He was skilled enough that he could always make another specimen. The instincts of fighting did not occur to Lotton, though. they never did. He did not know why, but he seemed to treat the problems he would fight as problems on a study-desk: To be solved. Without strong emotion. When fighting seriously, he would calm down and deal with it like a math problem. Another piece, he sensed above the hospital (Nienna Elanesse), and looked up. Unlike the other piece, the one that flew above him earlier, this one was more visible. He could not make out much, but he could tell that it had wings.

The piece he felt inside (Mathias Cruven Dominus), he was curious about. If need be, he could use his portals to escape. If not, then he had a wide variety of combat options, to say the least. And then, the suitcase he carried with him could probably help as well. Before entering, he reached behind his back and drew the handgun from his hammer-space. It was loaded. He did not need to check for that. He moved the portal, to a higher floor, but below where he sensed the piece in the hospital. The winged figure had wings, but he had instantaneous movement through space. And really good shoes. If she was stronger than a human, he should be able to compete, at least. He hoped this was the case as he launched himself through the portal entrance, and launched out of the exit, through the glass, and into the building. He landed safely, and took off running. He could sense them both, close, but the other was faint. Lotton just noticed how faint it was. He could barely sense it, not matter how focused he was. The winged piece was ahead of him, slightly, but that distance was growing more and more. By the time he got there, the crowd seemed to block his view for the instant it took him to see at least the wing, turned away from him. He heard gunshots, and a crash of glass, but at different times. It must have leaped out of a window. Whatever the case, Lotton couldn't imagine it not using it's wings to escape, as he could no longer feel the presence of either piece in the hospital, anymore. The only reasons he could think that it would escape without it's wings was to throw Lotton's calculations off, or because it had a more expedient method. Like he did. Lotton ran to the roof to check if it was flying anywhere, and to gain a better vantage point.

Lotton reached the roof, and the rain resumed it's falling. The city and it's lights looked even more beautiful from up here. Like when he was falling. He couldn't notice it before, because he was sleepy, but he was relatively awake, now. He could feel the winged piece flying nearby, and felt the fainter presence of the piece that was in the hospital. He looked in the direction he felt, and saw that the winged piece was indeed carrying someone. Lotton needed to chase them. The portals from before had dissipated earlier, but he brought new ones. They were very small: Both were the size of Lotton's eye, and one was following them, keeping pace while the other floated in front of his eye, giving him sight. His sight moved closer, until he could clearly see that they were what appeared to be a winged female, and a man wearing clothes that did not seem fitting for him. she landed on a rooftop, and remained there. She seemed to be waiting for something. Maybe she sensed him. Whatever the case, he was tired of not knowing another piece. And then, he moved the portal around to look for their seals. He searched until he found them, and then he saw what he needed to see. These were Lotton's king and queen. Lotton moved the entrance to the floor in front of him, and expanded it, after placing the exit on the floor of the roof two buildings away, that had the winged woman and the naked man on it, and expanded that too. Using the relative-constant of gravity, and making a slight adjustment to his starting position, Lotton allowed himself to fall through the portal, face-first, holding his hat. He fell through the portal, and the force of himself entering the portal while falling face-first to the floor was about equal to the force it took to launch him to a standing position out of the exit on the other roof. He stood, and placed his hands into his pockets and looked at the two, smiling, walking towards them. The female was beautiful, her hair was beautiful, her body was attractive, and all. But to Lotton, he could not help but want to see her internal muscle structure, and her magical capabilities. Rather than the beautiful face, he saw meat and bones. Cells and magic. Atoms and quarks, and even smaller. Lotton always had a weird sense of beauty. Lotton saw the man, as well. His king seemed to mostly human, but, through the clothes, Lotton could tell he was muscular. Even as a regular human, he would be a force to be reckoned with, in the right context. Seeing what he has seen, he did not really think the man was human. But, he may be. Whichever, whatever. The point was they were his current government. He would follow them until they couldn't benefit him any longer.

"Pleased to meet you, and sleepy, who you're holding. I think I'm your rook."

Lotton moved closer and stepped foot in the winged humanoid's aura. He felt a calm and peace enter him, and what hit him was like a brick. He felt too peaceful, and his thoughts were beginning to come into an order. He stepped back, safely out of the ranged, and looked away for a moment. He felt...better, stepping closer to the winged humanoid. He was calmer. It was a shock at first. Things that probed in his mind usually were broken. Many people who had a video feed of what his thoughts were like had killed themselves. In fact, the majority had. It felt good, but not too good. He would rather live without it. He felt that he could lose himself if he exposed himself to it for too long.

"... I think we should go back to the castle."

Seraphina Celosia

Gardenia Hospital-Plenoran Castle

Cold. Wet. Confused. These were all the things that Seraphina was conflicted with. She didn't know which way was certain for the way to safety or which way was too dangerous. She didn't know what dangers lurked around every street and alleyway corner, or even if there were any grave dangers to even worry about. She was shivering now soaked to the bone and feeling dirty and mangey like a dog. She wanted to just shift into her true form and find some coverage in a woods or something but being in the middle of a city the rarity of even seeing one tree was as good as you were ever going to get.

Seraphina sighed angerily, And whats worse is I have this stupid crest that won't stop tingling and glowing. UGH! If only someone could even give me a clue! Sera thought to herself. I can't even shake this stupid urge inside my head telling to go right, then left, no the other right! No! Go forward!...It's all so stressful... "I need to find some blood to refocus myself. Now, now, now...Where to find some blood?" She spoke aloud to herself seemingly asking the urge in her mind. It told her to go right down the long alley, so she did.

When Seraphina finally came to the end of the alley she looked around and asked her friend in her head to give her something to work with, but she was met with nothing. Seraphina glanced at the sky and noticed a sign out of the corner of her left eye. She turned her head fully to the left and saw that it was the Gardenia Hospital. She smiled almost yelling in joy and ran to the entrance.

As she approached the doors they automatically opened for her, but when her person was inside the hospital, she stopped. Seraphina looked down at her crest and could feel her hand shaking, having spasms in her muscles that were around or under the crest. It glew brighter than it had only just a few minutes ago, and she pulled her wet sleeve down covering it from suspicious eyes. Not liking her hand shaking and glowing so much she quickly and quietly made her way to the room where they cooled and stored all their blood bags. She grinned when she found it on the second floor of the hospital and opened the door, stepping in and locking it behind her. She turned the lights out and could see the bags dangling from all the racks, perfect in every way. She went for the positive blood types first as those were always her favorite since they seemed to be just packed with flavor and so very sweet all the time. Although she preferred warm from the vein blood, bagged blood would have to suffice.

She tenetaively unhooked a bag from the rack and uncapped the tight seal in the middle at the top of the bag and put her lips to it. She sucked it fast and felt the cold rush of sweetness fill her mouth. She didn't stop to take a breath and downed the bag in all. Sera went to the negatives which tasted almost bitter and sour yet they gave a little kick to the mind, making her focus more on things. She drank two bags of negatives and two more of the positives. Seraphina gasped for air when she was all finished and grinned as the blood dripped down her chin and lips. She panted wiping her mouth on the clean side of a bloody rag. Seraphina found a scrub and tied the ends of the sleeves then tied the sleeves together to make a ratty looking back pack or blue sack. She put some negatives and positives in the cloth bag and all in total managed to get about 10 bags to carry. She grabbed an A- off the rack and ripped the cap off sucking it in sips as she slung the napsack over her shoulder and unlocking the door sprinted down the empty corridor to the staircase. She knew that in any hospital hardly anyone used the stairs when there was elevators everywhere. Lazy humans, haha. Sera thought to herself laughing out loud.

Sera jumped over the edge of the stair case and landed at the bottom when a grunt and a groan from the awkward landing. The reason she did not die or get injured badly was because it wasn't a long fall and she was hyped up on a blood rush. Seraphina managed to find a back exit way and made off down the street in the way towards the black castle. She stopped suddenly realizing that the tingling and massive glowing had stopped on her hand. She lifted up her sleeve and checked to make it certain. She nodded seeing it had stopped and wondered if she was getting ill from an unknown sickness.

Seraphina made it to the front steps of the Castle and gazed up at its massive and beautiful architecture. Her mouth formed the shape of an O as she walked uncertainly up to the large black oak doors. As she grunted pushed them aside, she stepped cautiously into the large lobby of the castle. "Hello!" Seraphina dropped her bag to the ground beside her and closed the large door behind her. "Is anybody here? Hello?!" She yelled curiously and stood protectively by her bag of blood and could feel the crest on her hand tingle slightly again. "Hmm, I wonder where my king or Queen are...?" She asked herself out loud, then suddenly realized what she had just said came to her as normally as saying she was a vampire...even though she couldn't remember saying anything remotely similar to asking about the whereabouts of "Her king and queen".

ALAYSIA DUNOIR

G A R D E N I A

The doors of the library gave a quiet creaking as they parted before the figure in red, whose tattered, bulky cloak seemed to dwarf the entirety of her otherwise small form. Instantly, upon entering the building, the Homunculus' violet eyes began searching those people within the large, silent room, trying to locate the one who she sought. The librarian glanced up from her seat, giving an expression of slight surprise at the rather unusual appearance of the new arrival - evidently, all-concealing mantles of tattered scarlet cloth had fallen out of fashion in this world - but Alaysia paid her little mind, instead focusing on the other individual occupying the library.

The young man's average stature was not exactly the imposing and dignified appearance one would expect of a king, but, then again, the Homunculus' own appearance was far from indicative of her own position as Queen, either. Physically, he was unassuming, and yet, there was a certain pull to his presence that had drawn Alaysia to this place, and it was this sense that made her sure that he was, at the very least, a fellow piece of Plenoran, and, among those pieces that she had sensed, the most likely to occupy the role of King.

Striding calmly towards him, Alaysia pulled back her hood, brushing out her long black hair as she did so. Fortunately, her cloak was thick enough to have kept her largely dry, even in the heavy rain. However, before her king, she could have no use for the concealing garment, for her purpose here was to reveal her identity rather than hide it, was it not? Reasoning thus, she unfastened the cloak and, calmly folding it, slid it into her bag, where it swiftly vanished from existence as, at the same instant, she altered her form to her normal civilian form - although the only real change she underwent was one of attire, as her complicated uniform and flowing cloak was replaced by a simple schoolgirl's attire. Timing this transformation perfectly, she used the cloak to mask the alterations done to her garments from the librarian behind her, while at the same time purposefully allowing the king to witness the change to her wardrobe. Her cloak, meanwhile, only vanished once it had been successfully stowed in her bag, and the librarian was, consequently, none the wiser.

"Please excuse my intrusion, sir," The young woman said quietly, stopping in front of the young man seated at the table, her violet eyes gazing calmly down at him. Her voice was quiet, methodical, and overwhelmingly stoic, but its measured tones nevertheless held a certain respectful quality that, combined with her choice of words, made it obvious that she had a fairly good idea of who she was talking to. "I apologize for interrupting you unbidden." As she spoke, Alaysia reached up to her collar, and, unfastening the ribbon securing her blouse, pulled down the vest she wore to a point just over her shoulders, and allowed her shirt to part slightly, revealing the pale skin between the center of her collarbone and the hollow of her chest, and, more specifically, the black marking that was displayed prominently there: six wings, a sword, and the crown of a queen. Giving her king time to examine the emblem, she waited a few moments, and then methodically reordered her collar and vest, covering the symbol once again.

"May I sit here, your majesty?" She asked quietly, her eyes falling for a moment from his face to the black marking she could see on his right palm, peeking faintly out from behind the cover of the book he held, confirming her suspicions as to his identity. Yet, despite having already confirmed that this was, in fact, her king - or rather, because of this fact - Alaysia remained standing, awaiting his permission to seat herself.

Alexander Duodecim

Paradiso Eden, library

Alexander, having a slight interest in his surroundings, noticed the doors opening, but he appeared to pay little heed to it. He noticed red out of his peripheral vision, which made him look over his book and unto the petite female. He smiled a little, noticing that she appeared to be looking for someone. His thoughts instantly went to the game that he was being forced to play, but he brushed aside this suspicion. He grabbed his cane, prepared to be on the defensive if necessary. He could never be too cautious. He tensed his hand, his eyes searching for weak points in the girl's posture. He felt as if he should know the girl, which made him even more weary of her presence. Perhaps this was someone from the memories he didn't have. If that was the case, he would probably need to find a quick escape route. Then again, it was completely plausible that she was a part of the game he was forced to partake in. He relaxed his body, having come to a logical conclusion. He would give her a chance to show who she was.

He wondered where she was from, due to her strange attire. His own attire was strange for most, but it was customary for most royalty. He wondered the reason for her getting rid of her garment, but he wouldn't ask. He couldn't appear ignorant or impatient, for those were deadly weaknesses. His eyes quickly fluttered open, their piercing and analytic nature clearly visible. He studied the civilian form she had, his eyes going from top to bottom in mere seconds.

"Please excuse my intrusion, sir" She adfressed him formally. He concluded that she knew of his role in the game, and that she was obviously a piece. He acknowledged her by simply nodding his head, signaling for her to continue. [b'I apologize for interrupting you unbidden."[/b] She continued. He had a questioning look as she unfastened the ribbon she was wearing. Surely she wasn't expecting to seduce him, was she? He wasn't going to fall for such an obvious tactic, then again, she probably had a good reason for doing what she was doing. He noticed the black marking, and instantly noticed that she was the Plenoran Queen. He no longer felt suspicion towards her, since she would lose if he died. He felt slightly idiotic for assuming she would have done something else. He closed his eyes slightly, returning to his normal demeanor. "Yes, you may sit here." He said, pausing a bit after answering her question. His pupils dilated and he began speaking to the girl mentally, as to not allow anyone to eavesdrop.

"I doubt we should stay here much longer." He sent her these words. "Let us leave to the castle, unless you have a better idea." He stood up calmly, using his cane for support he didn't need. "Call me what you will." He projected mentally, not wanting to reveal his name quite yet. He picked up the book and decided to finish it later. This game seemed like if it would entertain him for the remainder of the time he would be fated to stay in the strange city.

Ormir + Ekuro

Gardenia: In the city

Ormir considered her options for a moment, feeling each dim, flickering piece. Most she could only sense faintly as an odd fuzzy feeling in the corner of her mind, and that only when she focused deeply. However, Ekuro's impatient shuffling continually distracted her. He was unsure why she was taking so long to consider, especially since she knew where pieces were. Ekuro wanted to just investigate and see what came out of it. Finally, Ormir agreed to do just that. In the short time they had waited, several pieces went out of range. Ormir decided to approach two of the closest pieces, who, if she was judging correctly, were also fairly close to each other. She shared her thoughts with Ekuro and he wholeheartedly agreed, not waiting another moment before charging across the roof and launching himself off onto an adjacent roof.

Their pace increased now that Ormir knew where she needed to go, and soon they were all but flying over the rooftops. The rain streamed unheeded down Ormir's face, and she blinked it out of her eyes. She was thoroughly wet, but not cold. It was near impossible for Ormir to feel cold, and this weather was nothing compared to.... 'Compared to what?' Ormir thought, thoroughly confused. It felt as if she had hit a brick wall. It was almost like a dream that was slipping away, but what did it mean. Ekuro, sensing her unease, looked back at her for a moment with concern, but she merely shook her head, sending droplets of water flying, and met his gaze with a small smile. She pushed away thoughts of the odd, almost memory and brought her attention to the task at hand. She had to find those she was meant to protect.

Within moments, they were just above the two pieces(Eri Soluce and Kael Skye). Ekuro jumped from the rooftop, spiraling down until silently landing beside the pair. Ormir gave them a small, relaxed smile and a nod, nonchalantly returning her attention back to the wonders of the modern city and trying to keep out a feeling that she was missing something....

Eri Soluce

Gardenia

The sheepish look soon disappeared as the man underneath her looked pretty unfazed by the events that just took place. She tilted her head, looking over his face for a few moments. It was about then that she felt the sudden lurching motion beneath her, and was just about to fall off of him from the unexpected weight shift when she felt his arm steadying her at her back for a few moments until she caught her balance. He then rose from the ground and extended a hand which Eri cheerfully took and lifted herself up with.

"Nice catch." A bright grin teased the corners of her lips as a well-deserved look of satisfaction eased onto the rest of her facials. She figured the look spoke well enough for itself, and she stuck her tongue out fractionally at him with a grin. Eri blinked as he outstretched his hand towards her, but didn’t make a move away from him. As soon as his fingers brushed against her skin, a shiver ran down her spine, and her heartbeat quickened.

“Your hands are cold.” She accused with a wry smile, showing that she was just teasing him and really didn’t mind much. Hers were probably just as bad anyway. "Bishop? Hmm, I would've guessed a Queen....” Eri looked over to him with a good natured look. “Queen? I think I’d suck pretty badly at that role, especially considering I don’t know how to play chess anyway.” Another grin lit up her face, her eyes taking on a slightly mischievous look. “Kael Skye, I'm guessing I'm our Rook. And obviously not the sturdiest castle out here...." A short, genuine laugh escaped her lips at the comment, and she then nodded amiably as Kael showed her his crest.

“Eri Soluce, pleasure... running into you.” Her facials adopted an innocent look, trying in a joking manner to make up for the bad pun. "Something special about that hat? Or was it my winning smile that made you want to tackle me?" Another soft laugh echoed through the small street they were situated in before taking on a teasing smirk. “It was definitely that striking smile I couldn’t see while you were turned around; I just couldn’t help myself~” Eri’s grin was back on her face before she gained a slightly more serious tone- if it could even be compared to that. “I dunno, I just really like that hat, and would prefer not losing it on my first night, or ever for that matter.”

The black bishop placed a finger a little to the left of her chin, before opening her mouth to remark on something else. However, the thought was quickly abandoned as she heard an unusual shifting in the air behind her. She turned her head to see just what it was, and was definitely shocked to see what lay before her. Eri took a few quick steps back to where Kael stood, and swept behind his form, clutching his shoulder softly with a look of pouty annoyance that held absolutely no truth to it.

“A… dragon? For real?” She tilted her head, her eyes scanning over the creature next to the woman with excited wonder (Ormir+Ekuro). Her focus then turned to the woman, and an incredulous look found a place on her facials as the woman seemed to just smile and nod, like having a freaking dragon was the most normal thing ever. "Whaaat?"

Gardenia City-Underpass-Shanty Town

"Impulse."

Jean-Pierre was overcome with new, startling developments. His new senses, seem to be pointing to an eventuality, other forces are coming together. Already he could vaguely make out two large groups, of about three or more sources. It would seem other singular sources were finding each other and coming together. This troubled him, especially about the part of his instructions about conflict between two factions. From his viewpoint it would seem the factions were gathering and like always, battle lines will be drawn. The battle may soon begin, luckily not everyone has gathered. Chances of the battle happening are not likely just yet. What's more the two large gatherings seem to have a modest distance away.

A more concerning problem is that one of those gatherings are not too far away from where he was. Jean-Pierre has no idea who his allies are supposed to be, but if the theme of chess is to continue then his side is the white side. He has no idea where the Whites are suppose to gather, for his new senses cannot tell him the distinction between friend and foe. A most dangerous disadvantage. One that he hopes all of the pieces share. While the chances of this group being his side is 50/50 he doesn't want to test his luck and fail. Especially if the wrong side will engage him in battle, and the chances of HIM appearing will be most certain. He doesn't want HIM to cause destruction, he has unwanted guilt and more won't help his state of mind.

Now came to biggest question, should he stay or should he go? There could be a chance he will go by unnoticed but if everyone else has these senses as well, it will be most unlikely. And if the chances are these are his enemies, then he doesn't want to be held responsible for these good peoples death. His choice was made. Having the ragged old coat he held it up over his head and left the rundown shacks of the homeless, entering into the rain. (Left for Gardenia City)

Gardenia City

Jean-Pierre managed to find a staircase leading up to land above. When he managed the climb his eyes beheld a large shimmering city. The lights reminded him of Paris, but the architecture here was something he has never seen before. His bare feet were cold as they stepped on the wet cement and the only saving grace was the addition of lamp posts all over the streets. He turned his attention to the large bridge, which gives the homeless shelter. He moved towards this great bridge and then saw a most curious sight, a pair of lights were coming in fast down the street. A large, metallic object raced past him and Jean-Pierre fell over startled. He had never seen anything like that, just what was that?!

This place is strange indeed. Jean-Pierre picked himself up again and placed the coat back over his head. No time to waste, he had to distance himself away from the groups and find new shelter. He ran down the bridge looking for a new place to lie low from the other sources. At least until this damned rain lets up. He was cutting through alleyways, using the buildings as a sort of roadblock to distance himself away from the group. What he failed to notice was that one of the alleyways had a side entrance to a bar and inn. He made no contact with solid ground and the moment he noticed that something was amiss he was tumbling down the stairs. He crashed next a wall and was knocked unconscious. Luckily for him this went on unnoticed. He was soon found and carried inside. (Entered Morningstar Bar & Inn)

Morningstar Bar & Inn-Third Floor-Room 33

Jean-Pierre didn't know it but he was being cared for by a young woman, the daughter of the owner. She was treating his head wound from the fall. Even in this unconscious state, he was still abuzz with action in his mind. The beast complained over Jean-Pierre's clumsiness, not to mention his desire to be let free. Jean-Pierre tried his best to ignore but the Beast was everywhere and he tormented him. He would not stop until he is given what he wants.

It was in this moment when a wet cloth touched his exposed forehead that he jumped awake. This in turn shocked the poor girl who nearly fell out of her seat. "What the!?" She shouted as Jean-Pierre stood over her. She immediately blushed when she saw the naked man, whose ragged clothes were taken away because they were soaked. She quickly turned away from him as she tried to ignore his body. Jean-Pierre was slow and sluggish but he noticed his lack of clothing and quickly wrapped a blanket around him. "Ah ! Désolé, désolé !" Jean-Pierre cried. He felt really embarassed from this whole ordeal.

The woman then with confusion spoke, "Huh?" Jean-Pierre then nodded his head and spoke in English, "Sorry, Mademoiselle." He spoke. "You can look now." He spoke giving her the OK to turn. "Oh, well it's nothing you didn't know." She spoke slightly bashful. She then snapped out of her reverie, "My mom said to give you these clothes if you woke up!" She spoke as she ran for a nearby closet and pulled out a white, button up shirt, and black slacks. "Here you go!" she spoke as she brought the folded clothes to him. "Merci." He spoke. Before she became confused he spoke, "It means thank you." "Oh, alright!" She spoke with a smile, "Well I better get out of here and let you change, heh heh." She spoke with nervous laughter and stepped outside.

Jean-Pierre dressed himself in the nice clothing, finishing the set with a belt, socks, and shoes. He had to admit, it was nice wearing something nicer than rags. While he looked in the full-body mirror he noticed something shimmering behind him. He turned to see, off the corner of his eye, something white and glistening in the window. While he couldn't tell what it was thanks to the building obscuring it. Luckily though they were low enough to get the tips of a distant building. He couldn't explain it, but he felt drawn to it. He had to get a better sight of it. He stepped outside and the girl was right there. "Wow you look good!" She spoke once again being bashful. Yet, Jean-Pierre hadn't the state of mind to notice. "Is there a way to get higher?!" He asked. While she tried to piece together what he said through his accent she spoke, "Yeah the roof." "Why?" "Can you show me?" He asked. She then nodded, "Sure, but it's raining, let me get an umbrella!" She spoke as she ran downstairs.

While he would wait, this feeling wouldn't. He figured for himself to climb up the stairway. He soon found a door which led to the roof. He stood out into the rain and saw a shimmering white castle in the distance. It seemed his fate was to lead him there, he was drawn to it like flies to honey. The girl then came out with him and place the umbrella over his head. "What are you looking at?" She asked. "What? You can't see it?" He said. "Hm? What?" Jean-Pierre couldn't help but stare, he knew he had to be there. "Come on inside no need to stand out in the rain." She spoke. Jean-Pierre nodded and went inside. But he won't be for long, soon he will make his way to the castle in the distance, and discover just what is going on around here.

Kael Skye

Gardenia

“Eri Soluce, pleasure... running into you.”

Kael couldn't help but laugh at the jape. At least Eri had a bit of a sense of humor, even in the situation they were now forced into with this deadly game of Chess. As she continued on, answering the question Kael had posed, he began to wonder what other kinds of people or creatures would be participating in this game alongside them. More importantly, who or what they would be up against as well. So far, he had been lucky enough to run into Eri, or rather she ran into him, but a member of his own side nonetheless. The tables could be drastically turned if he ran into an opposing member this early. Eri herself looked normal enough though, but he was living proof that you could look normal, but still have a very unique lineage. Moderately living proof, he thought. I died, so what does that make me now...?

Eri got another look on her face just then. He didn't know exactly what it was just yet, but he decided to himself that this girl may actually be worth sticking around. At least, for the time being that is. She looked poised to ask him something, or at least make another jape. Kael couldn't begin to imagine what though, as that sharp tingling sensation returned again, this time though, it was too faint to echo the warning in time. Instead, he caught the flash of pause in the rain for a fraction of a second as something seemed to pass by the pair in the streets directly overhead. Much too quiet for comfort, some large reptile seemed to appear from behind the mists of the rain as it landed way too softly for its size, a calm and unfazed female sitting atop its back (Ormir-Ekuro). Kael raised an eyebrow at the friendly smile and nod he and Eri received from the woman. That was better than my first entrance... he thought.

Eri took a few quick steps to use himself as a makeshift barrier between her and the newcomer. “A… dragon? For real?”

"A dragon?" Kael said aloud to Eri. "Is that what that is? I thought dragons were supposed to be...." He stopped himself as he almost said 'impossible'. His mix of Arachne/Valkyr blood was an impossibility in itself, yet here he was. "...bigger..." And breathing fire, and eating people, and tearing down castles... He thought silently to himself. "Maybe she fed a lizard steroids and that's what she got..."

Kael generally tried to keep his voice a little lower, offending a woman riding a dragon or over-sized lizard or whatever probably wouldn't be the best thing to do. Yet if this was a dragon, there was no telling what other talents the woman may have. The woman looked more friendly than hostile at the moment, yet one never knew what the intentions of others might be. He decided to at least address the woman at least. "Yo! What do you feed that thing?!" He called out, suddenly realizing that he or Eri might be a suitable meal... "You know what? Nevermind. I don't really want to know that answer...."
