SOULCHESS

The Revival

Just so some of you know – On an old account, I made this RP. I decided to bring it back revamping some things about the set up... Last time I had way too much spaces taken that really weren't being used... They get their character in but didn't have the time or perhaps didn't take the time to actually post. I'm hoping to recreate it and this time keep a steady flow of post.

—Plot--

Every hundred years, the Soul Chess begins. Soul chess is battle that takes place within an unknown city known as Gardenia. Those who are summoned take part in a battle that will determine the side who controls Gardenia for 100 years until the next. Gardenia is a floating city above the clouds. It functions normally as a city would to where during the day, it is busy but at night it dies down... especially for the battles when the destructions takes place. The council that looks over Gardenia and the battles is a tower near the city everyone can see. Know Gardenia City is indeed a city that looks as though it is modern. The city is indeed grand and could be known as a city of lights like Tokyo, Japan.

When you are summoned to the city, you have no memory of how you came to be in this world but your mind is informed of the purpose. Most of you probably died before entering the world... No one is just summoned on a whim. When you awaken in the city for the first time you do not know the opposing "pieces" but you do know which faction you are apart of by seeing the crest on your hand. This crest is only seen by your faction, no one else will know what piece you hold.

Each faction has a castle or base in which they stay at. The castles location are on opposite sides of the city. To not intimidate or stir up problems with normal civilians the castles are hidden to them. Once they apparently step foot into the castle they immediately turn around knowingly as if they shouldn't do that. However in their eyes, the border between castles is basically the edge in which they will fall to their doom.

So which faction will you fight for in this strategic battle, which role will you play? Will you win this century's soulchess or will you die trying? Perhaps even betray the faction you were given! Join now!

(Keep in mind, your character can die in this. Revival is only through RP and thats monitored)

Neutral 1- Connor
Neutral 2- Lotton Cromwell
Neutral 3- Roseus eon Faywelt

Know, roles are not gender specific but they do have value and specific role abilties inaddition to your character. Now just because you request to be certain type of role doesn't exactly mean you'll get it. The King and Queen roles are considered to be the key and core roles of this roleplay. The reasons behind this are because they can decide what role, a player is for their team or army (whatever they may consider their alliance). Perhaps you may get a role assigned to you when you submit your character and I'm not your king or queen. Your king or queen decides to suddenly change your role. This can be done. So keep updated and don't be upset if this happens because you were told.

Now know, just because you have a specific role, doesn't mean you're going to be the strongest or weakest in a way. Your "King" may be weaker then its "Queen" or even "Pawn" in some ways but stronger in others. All characters in this roleplay are balanced in power. As mentioned the only difference on your characters are basically leadership/rank and the abilities given. Now roleplay wise, Your "King" may decide to rank you by who is stronger but all of that is totally dependent on what he/she decides.

King - (Lord)

♕♚

The king role acts and is usually known to be a main leader of the faction of the battle. Like chess, If the king is killed... The faction itself loses or so has it been previous years. This role is not replacable unlike those below him/her. HOWEVER, the king can do a contract to switch roles with a chosen piece, preferably Queen.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual pressences of the other "pieces".
Augmented power - Their abilities and attributes are increased. (This does not mean the king can take on 2+ characters with this alone. Remember that relies solely on how the King can fight against the opnents)
Contract of Royalty - exchange crest with allied member of your faction.

Queen - (Lady)

♔♛

The queen acts and is known to be second in command below the king. If you were to go by a normal chess game, The queen is naturally known to be one of the strongest pieces. Part of that could be true but remember this roleplay is balanced. The queen primarily is to be a king's personal guard or loyal ally. Sometime's the queen could be mistaken to be king in some situations.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Queen Crest Augment - Their power is increased to fit the queen position. In addition, they have a boosted regeneration rate. (Doesn't mean they heal wounds immediately, think more along the lines of after a full 8 hours worth of sleeping)

Knight

♘♞

The Knight's have the ability to summon a vehicle or beast of choice to ride. They are naturally used to cover space and keep an eye out for incoming enemies.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Knight's Crest - Summons your vehicle or beast to ride.

Rook

♖♜

The role of a rook is to protected the Queen and King. Like chess, they have castling ability and can sense the danger in which a king could be in.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Castling - Use the crest's power to forcefully swap areas with the king. This can only be used when the king is truly in danger.
Detect the king - Can sense if your King is in danger.

Bishop

♗♝

A bishop in this roleplay is known to be the watcher of the group. They are stealthy and have the capabilities of having more eye range then other roles.

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Surpressed Spirit- Unable to be detected by others except the Queen.
Far sight- To see with a good eye. Sometimes even the smallest details never escape them.

Pawn

♙♟

Like chess, these pieces are usually seen to be the frontline. However, they have more promotional opportunities then those above them. In addition they can obtain any crest from the enemy given that the positions aren't taken on their side. For their side they can also revive their own. (Ex. A pawn witnesses their Queen die in battle. When things are clear they decide to retrieve the queen's body and revive him or her at the castle through RP of course)

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Contract Of Royalty- Having the contract will allow you and the king to use each other's power by request. You also have the choice to directly summon the king if not the queen by request as well if in need of assistance. Often this will give a signal to the one you want to summon by making their crest glow. Note that this can also be used at any time and not just in battle in case your character may have a bad feeling of something.
Revival - Can revive the any characters on their side with the crest of Queen and below.

Neutral

Neutrals are beings who were summoned without a faction. Often they're there unknowing to the situation and are often called upon to be replacements for those who've fallen on one of the sides. This however is unknown to both factions and are often found by self desires. Now as hard as neutrals tend to be found, they are usually the ones to find themselves in the middle of it all. In addition they have their own ability.... Being neutral they can also be recruited or even shown to be spies. They can not however go into Plenoran or Seramel territory. Once they are recruited . It will change their faction information and grant them to be a pawn. Naturally, they can only be recruited by the king or queen which is a “legal” agreement but sometimes, if a neutral is close... they may just stay neutral to not be found... hoping to keep the act up... this however may leave them quite vulnerable....

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Lesser Augmentation to power – Due to being alone and without a faction, they have been granted a slight power boost. Remember power doesn't always mean your strength and speed, this could be an augmentation to an ability or so.

Kael Skye

Plenoran Castle

Kael's lips parted in a small grin as Eri's answer came laced with more than a little sarcasm. He didn't glance over to check the expression of her face however, and kept his eyes on the figures a little bit away and continued appraising the situation (Gregor and Ormir). He still wondered what the outcome of the gate's impasse would be. The man pulled a weapon out on the woman and her lizard. From the sound of the man's accent, 'chivalry' and his current actions probably held separate meanings. Maybe he's just frightened of the creature... Kael thought. Wouldn't be too surprising, considering the look the lizard was giving the man at the moment. Kael would feel the same way as the lizard no doubt. Pull a weapon on me, and I'd want to take your head off too...

“Yeah, you probably smell like a wet dog too,” Eri's jab caused him to release the others at the gate from his gaze and glance at her for a moment as he let out a short and quiet laugh. A wet spider would be closer to the truth. But he kept the thought to himself, remembering the female annoyance with spiders. Eri appeared to be human look wise, but then again so did he. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Kael's vision returned to the gates as the woman and her pet ended their little standoff with the newcomer and headed off in the direction of the lake. To be honest, he was a little disappointed to see her just walk off from the confrontation. Even if they didn't get into it, she could have at least said something. Kael had yet to hear her talk still, and was getting a little bored with referring to her as the 'lizard lady'. But his vision returned to the newcomer now that that awkward standoff was over. Or rather, just above the man's shoulder at the approaching figures to his rear (Alexander and Alaysia). Immediately, he had a small familiar sense about the taller of the two approaching figures. The King... Kael had already known the conclusion before the thought formed in his head. Like there was more of a pull toward this certain individual than any of the others present, even Eri. The game was the only reason he could think of. In a normal game of Chess, the Rook safeguards the King...

Eri left his side quickly enough and walked over to the gates to greet their 'King'. Kael on the other hand figured it was time he reverted back to the style he was used to and stayed where he was to study them from a distance. The man (Alexander), wore an easy smile on his face and was as slender as Kael himself as he paused at the gates of his castle. The woman (Alaysia) that accompanied him was a little of a different story. She was shorter with long, dark hair and stuck close to the man. She was so slight in appearance, Kael thought her more of a girl than actual woman. Sticking so close to their King would normally mark her as their Queen, but Kael had made enough assumptions for the present and would find out more information later.

Turning from the small group at the gates, Kael faced the doors of the dark castle and stepped close enough to rest his palms on them and push. For a second, they didn't move and held fast. The crest on his hand pulsed for a slight moment and then the doors began to swing inward by themselves. A loud groan echoed from the hinges over the front of the building as the doors opened wide. The moisture in the air from the rain being the possible cause. Either that, or the castle is as creepy as it looks... Taking a step into the doorway out of the rain, Kael built up the current he felt inside himself and discharged it outward through his clothes, body, and hair quickly, drying his person almost instantly. The display sent bright arcs into the air in a small area around him for a moment as it contrasted with the dark surrounding.

"Well," he took another step into the castle, "where the hell is the kitchen? I'm freaking starving..."

Gregor Wysecrow

Plenoran Castle Gates

The King had approached him and said “It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Alexander, your name is?” Gregor had been pondering if this was one of those kings of old who arrived too early to their thrones. “A King must address himself as King. “He said, using his most humble tone. It wouldn’t do any good to sound arrogant.

“Gregor Wysecrow…” He was about to speak the rest of his speech as a shout came from behind him. “Hiya, Chief!” “Y’know, it’s hardly fair of you to obsess over Meat, here, while the rest of us are standing around getting soaked to the bones” Gregor wondered what she (Eri) meant by meat. “You can assess over us once we get inside, no?” The echo of her voice was absorbed by the rain.

“Gregor Wysecrow is my name. My Sword is at your service.” He said with a solemn and deep voice. He looked at the king’s eyes, but didn't bow nor kneel. He threw a quick look at the queen. He sensed it and tried to locate her crest to no avail. “It must be under the clad.” He thought.

“It would proper to end this talk inside. There are some things that are better unspoken whilst it rains." He looked at the king, then the queen, looking for consent. He turned around and walked to get inside the castle.

Ormir + Ekuro

Plenoran Castle Area

Though Ormir gave off a sense of calm, Ekuro's intense suspicion of the man (Gregor Wysecrow) was making her tense. Slowly the dragon began to relax as his attentions left them, attracted by something much more critical than a unnecessary unease about Ekuro. It seemed their king (Alexander Duodecim) had arrived. From that strong, royal, and seemingly magnetic presence, Ormir knew it could be no one else. Alongside the king was another piece that was most likely the queen (Alaysia Dunoir). No other name would come to mind, so she figured she was correct.

She stood for a moment at the edge of the lake, her face turned toward the gate as she sensed the bishop (Eri Soluce) and the man (Gregor Wysecrow) approach the arriving royalty. She could just barely make out their shadowy figures through the driving rain. She was reluctant to approach them, due to her last interaction, but this did not temper her pleasure at the king's arrival. She wished to greet him and give him an assurance of her loyalty, but she also felt the urge to scout the area to make sure no threatening presence was approaching the castle and its king.

Ekuro, already eager to take to the skies again, opted for the latter and Ormir leapt into the saddle. Without a wasted moment, Ekuro sprinted toward the castle and began scaling it. There were many decorations that served to make the climb easy, and soon they were perched on the highest turret as a solitary flash of lightning boomed in the sky somewhere behind the castle, the first Ormir had seen in several minutes. It seemed that the storm was beginning to lose strength.

Ekuro launched himself off, and they swooped down several feet above the small group at the gates before silently sweeping into the city. There did not seem to be any presences in the immediate area, but Ormir felt someone (Lotton Cromwell) just on the edge of her range, someone who felt neither threatening or friendly. Deciding they were not an issue at the moment, Ormir and Ekuro turned back toward the castle.

Lotton looked through the portal before the male piece(Alexander Duodecim) he was viewing from above seemed to stop, look up, and smile. Lotton's smile grew wider as well. His body began to quiver in anticipation. This war might be really good, especially if that piece could deduce Lotton's location. Maybe it was the king. That made things even more interesting, before Lotton stopped smiling for a moment. He doubted the piece could see his nickel-sized portal while looking straight into the rain. It didn't matter. Lotton already felt happier. Looking at the male and the hooded figure (Alaysia Dunoir) behind him, along with numerous other figures making their to the black castle, he could only assume these were Plenorans. The hooded figure (Alaysia Dunoir) stooped to a bow before the male figure (Alexander Duodecim), as Lotton re-focused his vision on them. He would rather not move his portal closer, for fear of his own safety, nor would he want to project his voice, for there was no reason to, at the moment. It would be best if he let them know once they were all in the same spot. Lotton turned his attention to the castle they seemed to be approaching, and moved his portal closer. From here he could see the dragon and the woman it seemed to be protecting (Ormir and Ekuro), as well as a man dressed in a somewhat-knightly garb (Gregor Wysecrow). He seemed to be playing with his sword and making the dragon on edge. Usually, Lotton could not care less for most people, how they conducted their business with friends and allies. He doubted he could even share feelings with the other pieces. At least, not yet. He hadn't made a friend of any of them yet. There was also a white-haired youth(Kael Skye) and a girl with a black fedora on (Eri Soluce). Lotton pushed his own hat up, relishing it's feeling. To Lotton, it felt like someone else had a good taste in hats. Lotton couldn't help but to smile fondly.

As the dark haired male(Alexander Duodecim) and the hooded piece(Alaysia Dunoir) made their way to the castle, and introduced themselves, Lotton observed. He could see the greeting seemed to have gone well, although he could not hear anything, to be honest. The rain, and the distance of his portal made it difficult. That was fine, though. He turned the portal 90 degrees to face horizontally from it's downward-facing orientation, as he had the non-descript circle move around the Plenorans, simply watching them from different angles, before the portal decreased in size until it vanished. Lotton took his suitcase and played one of his sleight-of-hand tricks and made it vanish using his House of Cards. It simply swung it behind his back, and let go of it. Once his self stopped registering it's existence, he knew it was located in a safe place he could always retrieve it from. Before causing his portal to vanish, there was something his brain did not register as important at the time, but he decided to look at it anyway. He returned the portal to a bird's-eye-view, and looked down at the library again. There was a figure(Connor) at the top, doing nothing at all. Lotton remembered times when he would sit, motionless for days on end, absorbed in his own thoughts. During those tenures of frozen time, he would always try to think of something meaningful, but would always lapse almost immediately into something practical. Maybe that was why he remembered those times: because they were practical, instead of meaningful. This realization saddened Lotton, slightly. But, it didn't matter. After storing away his suitcase, he did the same with his other supplies, and left the inn, wandering out into the rain after a farewell to the kind bartender. Without even walking very far from the area, he could still sense the piece on the rooftop. It was neither Plenoran or Seramel. It must be another neutral. Lotton had no idea that there was another neutral in this game. Despite the logic being extremely fallible, he decided to theorize that, if he was not the only one, then there may be a 3rd. Welp, another theory for another day. It was not meaningful to him, yet. Besides, a neutral doesn't really have to do anything if they do not want to. But Lotton was too excited to ignore this opportunity.

Maybe he could get something extremely valuable. Maybe he could try and sell some of his things or services for information on the members on each side of this chess game. The results could be interesting. He decided to give it a shot. He heard the thunder, the lightning illuminating everything before the sharp noise rang. He looked up at the sky, and saw a shadow circling around. At one point, it's radius of flight intersected with his radius of sensing. He could feel it was a piece, and judging by the dragon, the Plenoran dragon and woman(Ormir and Ekuro) he saw earlier. She seems to have taken flight, and seems to be patrolling, judging by her flight patterns. Also, judging by her flight patterns, it looked like her patrol route was predictable enough. It did not have to be for what he was about to do. Quickly, Lotton ran into the nearest alleyway he could find and began to find metals. Metals were denser, and therefore, gave him more materials to build with. After musing for a very short moment on how he always seemed to be going to alleyways for supplies, he re-focused on his mission. Quickly grabbing some metal debris, he held his finger on it, as a spark went through his finger and into the metal. It began to form into a metallic bird, with a short-lived, but probably sufficient power source and rudimentary guiding system. It even had a glowing light on it's 2 sides to attract attention from a small distance away. He etched a message into it using his finger, so the message was visible on the outside, in plain English. Maybe they did not understand English, but he didn't really know what else to do. He could try other languages as time went on. He sent the bird on it's way to intercept the patrol route of the Dragon. On the side of the bird was etched the message, "If you want, I can help you with the war, but I might ask for something in return. I'll be in an alleyway somewhere, most likely." Lotton relaxed and smiled to himself. He may change sides later, just for kicks, but for now, he might as well keep himself busy.

Mathius
Seramel Castle

The castle had fallen into silence once the knight left. The White King sat for a good few minutes on his throne with the stillness of a statue before he rose to his feet and made his way down the steps. The pawns drew their swords, raising them overhead as he passed between them to head back into the hall and the foyer. That knight couldn’t have been the only piece in the game. There had been another in the castle, but it had been avoiding his audience. This kingdom, Seramel, was full of very disobedient pieces, and he would have to remind them what was at risk.

As he neared the grand doors of the castle, the pawns opened them as the robed king stepped across the threshold and vanished, his being appearing to pass through a hidden door or rip in space except that neither occurred.

Downtown.

Mathius walked the streets in his jeans and hoodie. His hands were tucked inside the front pocket of his sweater as his hood was drawn up to veil his eyes from the glare of the streetlamps. Ahead, he noticed a few people standing in a group and waiting. Curious, he wandered over and joined their group, standing there waiting as a blonde girl sat listening to her mp3 player and chewing bubblegum, an old woman sat quietly clutching her purse in her lap, and three bros stood in a huddle, talking secretly about the “blonde babe” on the bench.

The conversations were strange and even with his unusual understanding of English, he didn’t comprehend them. Suddenly, a white light lit the streets and a breathing and hissing beast charged over the hill, descending quickly down the road to shrilly scream as it slowed and halted before them.

Mathius’s eyes were wide with fear and awe as he gazed upon the square beast. Suddenly, its gills opened and inside was a man seated in a chair. In fact, there were several seats inside the creature and from what he could see through its glass-like scales there were people already within. His group dispersed, stepping within its bowls as they dropped currency into a box within. Mathius eventually found himself alone as the bus driver gave him an impatient stare.

“Are you boardin’ or what?” the bus driver demanded.

Mathius blinked and cautiously approached the vehicle. He stepped within and almost walked past the bus driver until the man reached out and snagged his arm.

“Hey pal, you need to pay first.”

Mathius rested his hand over top of the bus driver’s hand and ordered, “Take me to the center of this city.”

Releasing him, the bus driver closed the doors and started the beast back up. Mathius found a spot next to the bubblegum-chewing blonde, and the three bros gasped.

“Oh shit, she got creepy guy sitting next to her!” one laughed.

“Damn, I feel sorry for her. She must be creeped out.”

The blonde glanced briefly up at Mathius and her eyes fled as soon as she felt the sting of his. He continued to stare at her, eying the odd, pink device in her ears that whispered an unusual noise before lowering to her top, which within her hoodie didn’t do much to hide her cleavage. The outfit was barbaric, and yet he couldn’t stop staring at how the green fringe cradled the humps of her breasts. The blonde glanced back at Mathius and then followed his eyes down to her breasts and uncomfortably, she turned toward the window and drew the zipper of her hoodie up to her throat.

“Oh my god, what an idiot. Did you see this guy, makin’ it that obvious he was starin’ at her tits?” one of the bros laughed.

“Dumbass.”

The blonde reached into the pocket of her hoodie and removed a Kit-Kat bar. Peeling open the wrapper, she broke off a stick and began munching on it idly as she anxiously waited for her awkward bus trip to end. The smell of cocoa and sugar assaulted Mathius’s senses and in response his stomach groaned. The hunger pains were unbearable, and reminded him that this death wasn’t exactly death. He was alive again, and apparently, he still needed to eat. Gazing at the girl as the Kit-Kat slowly disappeared behind her lips, he patted her shoulder unsure of what else he could have done with the noise filling her ears.

The blonde glanced Mathius’s way and removed her earphones to frown at him suspiciously. “Can I help you?”

“What is that food in your hand?”

From his accent, she could tell that he wasn’t from around these parts. She glanced at the Kit-Kat and then back at the man. “It’s a Kit-Kat.”

Keet Cat,” Mathius repeated.

Breaking off a piece, she held it up to him. “Here, try it.”

The smell was stronger now, and it was making his mouth water. He tried to resist, baring his teeth lightly as his hunger pains worsened. He had more dignity than this. But he found himself leaning closer, not even bothering to take the Kit-Kat from her fingers, he bit into it, his mouth suddenly overwhelmed with chocolate and sugar that instantly melted on his tongue. The crunch had been music to his ears, and he only got two chews in before he was taking another bite, and another, and then soon his lips were smashed against her hand as he licked and sucked the chocolate from her fingers.

The blonde’s cheeks were burning red and she made no attempt to draw her hand away. Mathius leaned back, blushing in his embarrassment as he bowed his head in his shame. He had eaten from her hand like a horse.

“Forgive me; I…I don’t know what came over me,” he apologized.

Breaking off a third piece, the blonde held it out to him. “It’s nothing.”

Mathius stared at the chocolate stick and swore that what she held out to him wasn’t food. It was some addicting drug; magic…but it had been so damn good.

The bros gawked at the scene before their eyes in disbelief.

“What the fuck is goin’ on here? Wasn’t she just creeped the fuck out by that guy? Now she’s feedin’ him fuckin’ chocolate!”

“That’s messed up man.”

The blonde smiled shyly at Mathius and asked, “You seem hungry…want to go get a burger with me?”

Borger?

Burger, it’s food.”

“I am starved.”

“Good.”

“What the hell man!” the same bro exclaimed. “How did Weird Dude score with the blonde chick?”

“He made it look easy.”

“I can’t believe that shit. I just can’t. They gotta be friends or some shit. He’s her brother’s friend or her girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend or somethin’.”

“Like I said, that’s messed up man.”

♘ Carson Gawain Darnel ♘

Somewhere on the streets of Gardenia; Near Seramel castle.

Carson sped along sitting confidently upon the seat of Cerberus. He drove quicker and quicker down the narrow winding streets, his knightly instincts allowing him to maneuver the bikes around tight corners and impossible curves with speed nigh impossible for any other rider. He was able to move through alleyways and side passages with speeds that even the most experienced rider wouldn't attempt on the widest of motorways. He turned into one such alleyway and saw nothing in front of him but a solid brick wall, still with almost unnerving confidence he drove forward at an increased speed. As he reached a point roughly five meters from the wall he quickly pulled upwards and focused his energy. In an instant large threading spikes protruded from Cerberus' still spinning wheels as the bike pulled into a wheelie and collided with the wall and, as if magically keeping its momentum, began to scale the building, the spikes digging into the wall and providing a grip.

Soon the thrice lighted bike soared off the wall in a skywards direction, a quick flick forward and it landed atop the roof of the building, driving forwards and using the spikes to stay stable on the rain slicked surface which naturally had much more traction than the roads. Driving forward in this fashion, as he reached a roof edge, Carson would quickly hide and redeploy the spikes giving him the ability to fly off launch forward in the brief moment he did so. With this technique Carson drove from buildingtop to buildingtop, quickly making his way around the city as his white hair lashed out behind him and a satisfied grin spread across his face.

As he reached a smaller rooftop he stopped his ride short and thought for a moment. "What was I looking for again? I'm certain Rosanna sent me out with a shopping list..." He tapped his chin for a moment. "Ahh yes, precious minerals and... a blank book? Strange tastes in jewelry but who am I to judge?" He revved Cerberus up and charged forward. "Now then... where am I going to find that stuff... I suppose I should start with the book since it'd be easier I mean surely this cities got a library, right?" He drove onwards and launched off another rooftop, landing this time onto an empty road, he kept the spikes retracted as he exited onto a more populated road.

Gardenian National Library

It was surprisingly easy for Carson to locate the library he stood as it was quite large, being quite the smooth talked when he wanted to be he had no trouble getting directions to the nearest one, which, by coincidence, happened to be the largest one in the city. Carson, standing in slight awe at the marble building stepped up the wide staircase and opened the brown mahogany doors wide. The building was equally impressive inside as out. It housed thousand of books upon thousands of shelves and within that writhing mess of written collections he would need a single script bare of all words. He let out a heavy sigh and walked towards the librarians desk. He grimaced slightly as he arrived however as she looked up at him he put on the nicest smile he could manage in the circumstances. She was absolutely hideous. Her nose was long, hooked and crooked, her eyes old, weary and a shade of puke green that would make children cry, but her teeth... oh her teeth... they were so crooked yellow and rotten in places that Carson was having a hard time considering who he would have bite him first, the librarian or Draculina... and to his disgust he found himself leaning towards the latter.

"May I help you... handsome?" She spoke with the voice of a dying crow and gave him a wink that looked like a trash compactor opening and closing, acting just as ugly and mechanical. "E...ehm yeah... I need a book..." Before he could finish his sentence the wretched woman let out a horrible cockle and snort. "Well of coouurse you do my dear... you're in a library!" Carson, not finding it funny and becoming more uncomfortable by the second, got right to the point. "Look I need a special kind of book, one that's completely blank, no words on any of the pages... think you could do that for me?" He asked, trying his best to sound civil. "Oh for yooouu? Anything for a handsome man like yourself! Give me a moment to retrieve it for you." With that she rushed from her desk with unprecedented enthusiasm... leaving Carson standing awkwardly in front of the desks, trying his best to hold in a combination of hysterical laughter and projectile vomit. "Rosanna better REALLY need this book." He muttered.

Draculina

Seramel Castle

3:01 AM

Draculina heard the voice of Carson yet didn't pay any real attention since she was already occupied in what she was doing. After investigating her room she only had but a thought upon her mind and that was the thoughts upon who were the opposing. She wondered what they were like, what they thought of this game, how strong they were. Question after question continued to appear among the vampires mind. It began to give her quite a headache. The vampired turned towards the exit of her room and walked forward immediately opening it before proceeding. She could feel the castle empty as the presences became more faint. Her eyes wandered the empty halls before hearing footsteps. The same maid as a before held a metal plate holding a glass of blood walking towards her chamber. Draculina approached her and took the blood before speaking.

“Might you join me.. In my chambers... I'd like to talk..” She said calmly as she spoke looking into the girl's eyes. The maid looked down slightly worried as she clenched the place to her chest. She nodded yet was afraid. The poor girl had heard stories of this race, how fearsome they could be and their desire for blood. Although in her lore it was all the time. She was never at ease knowing she was going to be serving personally the queen of vampires but either way she followed her.

Draculina pulled a extra chair to small coffee table on an outside balcony. She sipped the blood feeling some run down her cheek as her eyes glowed into the moonlight. It was silent and rather unpleasant to the maid but also far from what she thought would happen.

“Listen... First I want you to tell me your name and then I want you to tell me everything you know about this city, this game, your purpose – I got my explanation before and what my role was but I want more information..” She spoke softly not turning towards the girl for eye contact. Her mind was too busied then getting familiarized with the face of her maid.

“Yes m'lady... My name is Mirina... I-I'm --- I mean – um...This city... It's called … G-gardenia... I – I mean my family has always been loyalist to Seramel yet we never were … Informed of everything... every time this reoccuring battle happens... W-We suddenly gain knowledge of whom we're serving. The city dies out at night when this event happens.. It would be completely dangerous to step out in the night... In everyday life – we do as any city would children play and goes to school... Men and women work... have fun... I – I … It's... mayor is Ozeus... no one know's his last name yet it is said he made this city. They have a high council upon the office but no one is allowed there except those who work in it..”

The words rung in Draculina's ear as Mirina spoke. A mayor who shelters his people yet governs them... Is he behind this magic or perhaps a greater force... Personally the vampire felt like giving him a “Thanks” yet she rather had something else in mind when the thought popped up such as “What were the other battles like before this one... ?” or “Why does it keep re-occurring..?”. Her eyes finally turned towards Mirina who was still a bit scared.

“Well my name is Draculina, since you were informed of me I'm guessing you know of my race?” She asked taking another sip of her glass. The maid nodded without a word shivering from those words.. Was she about to feast on her? Or was she building up to it? The girl once again clenched the plate to her chest. Draculina noticed her actions and sighed.

“Don't worry I had feasted earlier... I will not harm you at all and if you wanted to give me some of your blood then its up to you. I will not force it upon you but I am sure you heard my explanation earlier... Since you are the one taking care of me... I'm guessing you know the magic to bind me in my room..?”

Once again the girl nodded.

“Then I guess we'll have to be the best of friends!” She gave a dark smile. Draculina did not mind knowing the one who would be treating her and she had no intentions of killing her but to know magic that could bind a creature like herself is amazing to her.

“Leave my door open Mirina and go pour yourself a glass of wine and talk to me a bit longer. There is still much to discuss and before daylight I want to know everything” She said cheerfully.

The girl felt a little better by the new mood and nodded yet was still slightly afraid. She stood up and bowed before leaving to do as asked.

Ormir + Ekuro

Nearing Plenoran Castle to Castle gates- 3:01

Just as Ormir was near enough to sense her fellow Plenoran pieces, a small, metallic whirring reached her ears. Ekuro, not waiting to find out what was causing the noise, immediately swooped low between two buildings to avoid the object, thinking it was a weapon aimed at them. Ormir nearly lost her seat and flung her arms around his neck for a moment to catch her balance before turning to see what had made the noise. She caught sight of a small, glowing light that flashed off the shiny metal. Ekuro slowly banked around, cautiously approaching the object.

Ormir let her eyes to turn to slits, allowing her to see the object clearly. It looked like some kind of odd mechanical bird, and she wondered if it was native to the city or something another piece had sent. She carefully observed its flight pattern, and figured it mush have come from near the area she hand sensed the mysterious piece(Lotton Cromwell). She could not, however, discern whether it was some form of weapon, but if it had come from that piece it was definitely directed at her. The only other thing Ormir could think of that such a bird might do is observe. But, on the other hand, it did not seem to be alive, so how could it observe anything.

She requested that Ekuro swoop under the bird, and as they came close, she curled her fingers around her lips and blew softly. A jet of frost came streaming from her mouth, clinging to the bird and slowing it. It did not struggle, so it definitely was not alive or possessing any sort of consciousness. That itself was puzzling. Its wings stopped moving and it began to plummet as they passed under it. Ormir caught it, her breath sending puffs small puffs of vapor as the air slowly warmed.

She took the opportunity to warily observe the creature, now spiky and rigid with frost, the metal ice cold to the touch. After a moment, she realized the bird had some sort of scrawling writing on it. She had no idea what it could mean, but perhaps one of her allies could. The frosty covering of ice was quickly deteriorating in the driving rain, and Ormir continued to blow on it. She was still convinced that it was some sort of weapon, but as long as it was solidly frozen, she could see no way it could do harm.

They soon arrived back at the castle and landed just inside the gate. Ormir was still awkwardly holding the ice-cold bird, unsure what to do with it as she dismounted and peered curiously at it once more.

Kael Skye

Plenoran Castle

Kael began to get a bit impatient as he waited in the doorway of the castle for the others and stuffed his hands into his pockets before stepping into the dimly lit scene. In actuality, the room he found himself in wasn't exactly dimly lit, but felt much darker than it really was due to the dark stone. Walking around a bit, he eyed the strange tapestries and other various objects around him as he made his way into what appeared to be a dining room. Chairs were assorted around a large table, yet sat empty for the time being. Great, he thought, an entire empty and creepy castle.

"Home sweet wherever the hell I am now..." Kael said to himself as he made his way around the table. The table itself was set, but there was no food or drinks laid out for any of the newly arrived occupants. That sat a little strange in his mind. They were all brought to this world for a reason, and the castle seemed an obvious first stop for almost all of them. Yet there was no greeting, no explanation as to what the place was, and worst of all, no food... Drawing in a breath, Kael let out a shout to echo off the dark stone walls. "YO! ANYONE HOME?!"

After a small moment, a woman appeared in the room, clearing one of her ears. From the way she was dressed, she appeared to be a maid or some sort of castle staff. "You called, ser?" She asked the man who had just rung her ears.

Kael removed a hand from his pocket and scratched his cheek. Shouting probably wasn't the best idea, but it accomplished his intention at least. "Yeah, my bad. I'm guessing this is like our home or something now right?" The woman didn't answer, but gave a curt nod at his question. His stomach chose that moment to let out a small rumble and he could've swore a smile began to cross the woman's face at the sound. "Is there anything to eat around here? I'm starving."

"Wait here, ser. I'll bring you something right away."

As she left the room, Kael took a seat at one of the seats and looked back out the room toward the doors. He was still the only person to enter so far out of the group in the front, and he was beginning to wonder what they enjoyed so much about standing around in the rain. He didn't have long to wonder though, as the woman appeared almost instantly after she left and set down a large tray in front of him and removed the lid. Atop it was piled various assortments of food and he felt his mouth begin to water as she sat a cup down next to the tray and turn to leave.

He probably should have waited until she was out of sight to dive into the tray unceremoniously and watched as she turned to leave. "Screw it!"

ALAYSIA DUNOIR

G A R D E N I A

"I am honored by your generosity, sire," The Homunculus said dutifully, crossing her right arm over her heart in a posture of respect and gratitude. She smiled with what might have been relief, shutting her burgundy eyes against the rain and lowering her head, her hood falling over her features once more. Idly, Alaysia noticed something odd. The moisture now staining her face wasn't all rain. For reasons she couldn't recall, her heart suddenly felt heavy, as though burdened by an unknown memory, and she had begun to silently cry. Even as she rose to follow her new master, the tears continued to fall, unseen by all as they vanished amidst the shadows of her hood.

It felt like.... she had failed, somehow. She faintly seemed to recall another master, now deceased, who she had greatly loved, and, yet, had been unable to save. She, his servant, had failed to fulfill her vows unto him. And now she'd just made the same oaths to a new sovereign, one who, she realized, she might fail in the same regard. But the Homunculus was not one to wallow in grief or self pity. Rather, this knowledge gave her only one feeling: renewed determination. She must have failed once in the past, but she wouldn't fail again. This time would be different. She would sooner die a thousand times than see her master fall. And so, as she followed the others into the castle without complaint or interjection, she gazed slightly up at the sky, allowing the rain to wash away the last of the teardrops she couldn't understand.

I know not who you are, former master of mine. But, please. I beg of you, wherever your spirit lingers... will you forgive me if I serve another king?

A flash of lightning lit up the heavens, and the roar of thunder resounded through her thoughts. The Homunculus gave a melancholy smile. This answer was more than sufficient.

Thank you.

Alexander Duodecim

Gardenia: Plenoran Castle Gates

Alexander awaited the response of his Homunculus(Alaysia) ally. "I am honored by your generosity, sire," She said this as if it were her duty to. She seemed to hold him in high regard. Was she smiling? Did he do anything to cause that? No, it couldn't possibly be that easy to make someone happy. Alexander didn't see Eri walk up to him, since he was still busy studying Gregor. He decided to study each piece individually, since studying a group could prove all at once could prove hard. "Hiya, Chief!" She seemed to be having fun and she was smiling, but this could simply be a facade. She saluted him and he replied with a simple wave. He didn't show that he was surprised, but he was internally flustered. He was being scanned, so he let himself be studied. He didn't particularly enjoy being observed like a test subject, but, circumstances called for this. "Y'know, it's hardly fair of you to obsess over meat, here, while the rest of us are standing around soaked to the bones~" Was she.... teasing him? He was surprised that she could be so happy and...he couldn't quite think of the correct word to define her. He guessed that her tipping her hat down was meant as a greeting. He would've done something with his crown, but he wasn't wearing it, and it would be awkward to pull it out just to greet someone. "Hello," Alexander decided to try subtle teasing," I'm terribly sorry for not noticing you, but I am simply studying Meat, as you called him." Alexander didn't actually think the man was named meat, but he knew that there could be different cultures here and that his upbringing was not universal. "You can assess over us once we get inside, no?" She didn't seem to enjoy the rain. "Of course I can. I don't know your name madam, but I wont ask at the moment." He didn't want to continue this conversation while they were still in the rain. He was beginning to finally understand who his subjects were, but he couldn't quite judge them, until he managed to spend more time with them. He didn't notice kael, since he was busy studying the pieces near him.

He heard a groan from nearby, but he paid no heed to it. It was probably one of his allies, and he quite frankly, didn't want to bother anyone at the moment. "A king must address himself as King." The piece(Gregor) he had approached earlier seemed to be humble, but Alexander highly doubted that this was sincere. He mentally slapped himself for thinking such thoughts. He shouldn't be suspicious of his allies. If one of his allies was tried for heresy, then he would have already lost. "Oh?" Alexander seemed slightly amused. "If I were to be too sure of my position too early on, then wouldn't I look like a foolish and mad king?" He would have explained in more detail, but he didn't want to catch a sickness while outside. He wasn't sure how advanced this town was in the science of medicine, and he didn't want too have to find out anytime soon. "Gregor Wysecrow..." Gregor, as he now revealed to be his name, was cut off by the previous talking of the female piece(Eri). "Gregor Wysecrow is my name. My sword is at your service." He had a serious tone to his voice. He didn't kneel, but Alexander didn't expect this. "It would be proper to end this talk inside. There are somethings that are better unspoken whilst it rains." Gregor said this, looking at Alexander and Alaysia for consent. "It would do us good to figure out where everything is located in the castle." Alexander was planning out strategies already, but he would have to factor in different things. He didn't even know what abilities his allies had, he would have to fix this problem. He thought he saw a dragon, but surely there wasn't any here, were there? Weren't they just creatures of myth? Yes, that must have been it. Oh god, was he hallucinating now? He stopped thinking these idiotic thoughts and got back to reality. "I am going to the castle now. You may follow me if you wish."

Alexander began walking towards the castle. He quickly but calmly reached the entrance, then he simply entered. He had hoped that the castle would have it's own library, but it would be highly unlikely. This town seemed to be a strange mix of modern and olden buildings, but then again, how would he know what was normal and what was strange? A history book would be convenient, but nothing would ever be easy. Life, sadly, just didn't work that way. He thought that the castle should have seemed strange to him, but for some reason, he felt as if he belonged here. Sure, the castle seemed eerie and empty, but he heard the occasional servant scurrying around. He would have called out for someone, but he then remembered that he was to be followed by his allies. He turned around swiftly, expecting one of his allies to be behind him.

Mathius
Burger Joint

The food here…never has he tasted anything like it. Gardenia was as close to heaven as he could imagine with food so sweet, salty, spiced; every flavor—some he had never tasted before—bursting on his tongue. He crammed a handful of steak fries into his mouth until his cheeks swelled with what tasted to be potatoes, but the texture had been different. Before the fries had even a chance to get down his esophagus, he was cramming in a large sandwich called a BBQ Onion Bacon burger. Its dark honeyed sauce oozed and dripped out the back as he made sweet, crispy love to the front.

His blonde date was staring at him in fascination. With how he was inhaling his meal, she wondered if he was homeless or starved. If there was one thing that she did know about him, it was that he was a foreigner, who has never heard of a burger.

“You should be careful eating like that. You could choke,” the girl warned.

The blonde could see that he wasn’t slowing down when she watched him tilt his head back to wolf down the remains of the burger. He grabbed his tall cup of bubbling sweet water next and gulped down the soda until ice was all that remained. Setting down the cup, Mathius hung his head as he exhaled deeply a breath that seemed like he had been holding it in the entire time.

His date gawked at the empty meal basket and cup. His food was already gone and here she was still picking at her fries.

“Wow, I’ve never seen anyone eat so fast. Well, except for in one of those eating competitions.”

“I have never tasted such things,” Mathius replied in awe.

“Oh, well, there are many restaurants around here that serve food like this. You should be careful though. Everything here can be very fattening. I usually don’t eat burgers, but it was just the first thing that came to mind when I was thinking of a-”

Mathius’s hand reached across the table to snag her burger. The blonde pouted. “Hey~! I was actually planning to eat that one.”

Slipping the burger between his teeth, Mathius’s hand shot back out to rest against her chest. His hand had tingled when he reached for the sandwich and the sensation meant that there was something magical not too far away. He groped around her breasts, squeezing here and there for his search for the item she held. The blonde’s face was glowing in her embarrassment. She was so confused. We’re they at second base already? When had that ever been decided?

“I-I don’t even know you’re name,” she breathed.

Finally, Mathius’s fingers pinched the item, feeling that it was a necklace. Clenching the burger, the sandwich fell from his mouth to land in the meal basket as he asked the blonde, “Is this a necklace?”

“Yes; my grandmother gave it to me,” she replied in confusion. Really? He had been feeling her up for her necklace? But how did he know that she was wearing one?

“May I see it?”

Mathius retracted his hand as she unzipped her hoodie and removed the golden necklace from her neck. It was an intricate clover studded with diamonds. She held the necklace out to Mathius as he took the emblem between his thumb and finger. He inspected the gems closely before he rolled the emblem into his palm and clenched it in a fist. Holding his fist out with the lace dangling, his hand began to shake with the magical power the diamonds began to exude. The café’s lights and TVs flickered violently and a soft quake vibrated the building’s foundations.

The blonde glanced around in panic as customers began fleeing under their tables.

“It’s an earthquake!” a woman exclaimed.

The tremors hadn’t been strong enough to shake the glasses from their racks or to alert the entire block. Mathius’s grip loosened on the necklace and he frowned softly in disappointment. The diamond’s power was diluted in such a fragmented state. Lowering his fist, Mathius gazed across the table at the girl who was still trying to figure out what the hell had happened.

“May I have this?” the sorcerer questioned.

“It’s all that I have to remember her by.”

Mathius reluctantly returned the necklace to the girl. The knight better find him something good or he wasn’t going to be happy. He returned to his burger in silence as the blonde secured the necklace about her neck.

“I didn’t get your name. My name’s Victoria or V. Please don’t call me Vicky.”

“Mathius.” He stared at the empty burger wrapper and then raised his hand to flag down the waiter.

V’s eyes widened. “You’re still hungry?”

“Is there a problem?”

V smiled nervously. “I’m not rich, y’know.”

Mathius assured her. “Do not fret. A king does not pay for his meal.”

“What?”

The waiter walked over with a joyous smile on his face as he looked to the two. “And how is everything over here?”

Mathius simply held out his hand toward the man in a friendly handshake, and with a grin, the waiter took his hand. “Hey there buddy!”

“Get us whatever we ask for and pay for it,” he ordered.

“Yes, Sir. I most certainly will.”

V’s mouth fell open in surprise. “What? Really? Just like that?”

The waiter blinked. “Something wrong?”

Mathius lowered his hand and gazed at V indifferently. “Nothing is wrong.”

“Oh! Um, yes! I mean no! Uh…nothing is wrong. Sorry. I guess I’ll get a dessert or something. Can we see the menu again?”

She couldn’t believe this was happening. There was something very unusual about her new undeclared boyfriend and she couldn’t quite figure it out. As the waiter collected their mess and set down two menus, she couldn’t believe that she was about to eat again. Well, she didn’t get much of a chance to eat in the first place. She couldn’t believe that her date was eating again. Where did it all go?!

Draculina

Seramel Castle

11:30 AM

Her nightmare....

A foggy vision, A collapsed castle, and the only enlightenment was blood upon the stone grounds. This scenery to the vampire seemed so familiar. The screams coming to hear ears as ambience. She couldn't help but feel slight joy to this yet... another feeling told her she wasn't suppose to be here and it was dangerous. Suddenly she began to move feeling as if she wasn't in control. Her invisible strings suddenly revealed as dark jet black linings on the ground. Her speed suddenly increased. Why was she running? A light ahead and only but a dark figure standing there. Was someone in control of her body trying to fight? This nightmare seemed all too odd yet her heart beats with enjoyment with every step she took. Suddenly as soon as she came to see wings from the figure she blacked out only to wake up feeling blood run down her mouth and swords dealt through her body in different areas. She was kneeling and only minutes later screaming in pain before blacking out once more...

”Awaken”.. A voice amidst her mind said.. It was her own.

Draculina awoke with a gasp throwing herself forward to where she was sitting. Her eye glowing red yet the look of fear was upon her. She breathed heavily only to begin looking around, remembering she was in Seramel Castle. Her eyes turned towards the feint light coming from the window as her hands gripped the white blankets that covered her.

“Daylight...” She said gently before calming down. Her eyes unknowingly to her went blue. It was only seconds before the vampiress decided to lift herself out of bed immediately removing the sheets. This revealed a white gown she had wore before going to bed. Immediately she moved towards the outside and opened the doors being revealed to the sunlight. It was obvious that it didn't affect her like legends spoke of yet was it because of the form or was she that powerful? She'd never reveal such a secret yet that wasn't upon her mind. The dream she had was fresh in thought. Never did she have such a dream and nor does she know why it occurred. What secret was her mind holding... or perhaps it was the game. As she walked further to the balcony's edge revealing the land below her hands reached out to perch the rail. Once gripped it only strengthened where even the wood began to dent. The pain she felt in that dream nearly seemed as if it could kill her mentally...

“This is no good...” She said to herself before hearing her door open.

It was Mirina holding a glass of low quality blood of course but as asked the previous night before, she could tell she mixed red wine with it. It never mattered what time of day it was to drink red wine. Her ways was different to that of a human. The vampire turned towards the girl with a light smile.

“Y-your... bl-- …. wine ma'am...” She said. It was obvious she was uncomfortable still saying blood but it didn't matter to Draculina. She got what she wanted and needed. The white haired queen walked up to the girl before lifting the glass gently before chugging it down. Naturally she took her time but that dream just bothered her. The girl looked a little surprised in fear as she saw this wondering “was she craving blood this night.... it's only been one night... oh thank god I brought it to her...”. This was obviously wrong and by seeing this Draculina immediately corrected her. Mirina tried to calm down but was just to worried until it dawned her. She looked up and examined Draculina. Blue eyes.. and a different hair style.. Near normal clothing... yet she fit a more formal look.

“Ma'am did... you choose this look...?” She asked.

“Hmm...?” Draculina gestured before walking to a mirror. She suddenly noticed the different appearance and blinked. Suddenly a chuckle escaped her... More tanned skin... and quite normal eyes. It was definitely different but in Draculina mind she thought she looked a little nicer with her usual attire. She suddenly turned to her maid before speaking..

“I am going out to see Gardenia... take care of my room dear...”

Plenoran Castle

A simple dream

He was floating above what appeared to be a... cliff? He couldn't quite make it out. It appeared to be an amorphous shape, but then again, this could just be some sort of heat. "Oh no, not again." He just noticed that he was once again in the air, the last time being when he fell to Gardenia. However, he wasn't falling this time. He guessed that he was being suspended in the air by something, but he wasn't lucid enough to think further. He looked back at the hill, seeing a cocky looking person there. This person appeared to be looking down at something as well, but Alexander couldn't even try to guess what the other was looking at. He didn't think to try communicating, since his mind was still partially asleep. He awoke, slightly intrigued. What was that cliff, and who was that person? Perhaps one of the people in the castle knew, since the people here were tied to the game.

He thought he heard a voice before waking up, but that was probably his overactive imagination. Then again, he has experienced stranger things since he's been here. For example: not having conscious memories, falling from out of the sky, and apparently being a king. He had introduced himself to almost everyone at the Plenoran castle, or at least tried to.

He sat upright and rubbed his eyes, focusing his vision on what was in front of him. Such a strange thing occurence it must be for someone to suddenly be king, yet he felt as if he belonged in a place of power. His vision appeared strange, as if he was looking through some sort of surface. He methodically got out of bed and began to plan the rest of day. He should try getting as much information as he could, upon the three most important subjects: Plenorans, Seramels, and the city itself. He guessed that there was nothing else to the game than what was already explained, but there was still the nagging feeling at the back of his mind. He would check the castle to see if there were any books or documents pertaining to the nature of the game. He saw something dropped in front of a mirror: a shoe he had dropped the day before. He must've been clumsy the night before and accidentally left his shoe out. He didn't consider the fact that servants would have probably cleaned it up, since he doubted they would enter unnanounced.

"M'lord, do you have any requests of me?" A young maid asked, bowing politely. She seemed to be gazing at him somewhat questioningly, as if he were out of focus. "I have knowledge of this city from the short visit I had into town earlier, but I doubt my knowledge is as extensive as yours. From what I have observed: this city is named Gardenia, it appears to be modern from what I can tell, and I'm a part of this game. Is there anything I don't know?" Alexander asked, noticing her questioning look. His voice sounded somewhat foreign and as if it had more cockiness to it, but his words appeared to be formal and proper. He smiled a bit, this must have been extremely confusing to the young maid who had entered his room. "M'lord, as you know, this city is named Gardenia. I as well as the people directly involved in the game, appear to have innate knowledge concerning the game. The mayor, Ozeus, is supposedly the on ewho made this city. However, it is unknown if he has any ties to the game itself." The maid named Maribelle informed Alexander. Alexander temporarily stopped his sense of time and decided to think about the information he was just given. This information was extremely vague, but, he guessed that she must have thought it important. The mayor seemed like an interesting figure to investigate later on. However, he didn't want to waste his time chasing something that might not be there. He was not the type of person to jump headfirst into a fight without knowing his opponent. He resumed his sense of time, and decided to dismiss the maid. "You are dismissed. Thank you for the information." His voice and formality still contradicted each other, but he paid no heed if he noticed this. He returned to the subject of the shoe he appeared to have dropped in front of the mirror, and prepared to pick it up. He would have asked the maid to pick it up, but, he needed to investigate that himself. He walked towards the shoe and picked it up. Nothing interesting about the shoe... he had just wasted his time. At least he managed to kill time.

He sighed, then noticed some stranger out of his peripheral vision. He grabbed for his sword, but it wasn't on his person. He turned to the mirror while doing this, and he then noticed that he was the only person there. He felt his face and noticed subtle differences. He decided not to question what had happened, and instead, he just left the room. He exited his room and closed the door before him. He was prepared to go out to Gardenia. He would have alerted his allies, but he had no idea if they were asleep or awake. He decided to wait a bit, then go and leave the castle if no one appeared to be awake. Perhaps they had the same strange occurrence, but it was highly unlikely. Then again, he didn't know what normality would be. It wasn't infuriating having little memories, but instead, it was inconvenient. he could have used his prior knowledge if he had any, but sadly, life wasn't that easy.

He had waited a minute or so, but no one appeared. He decided to instead go to the exit to the castle. Perhaps someone would find him there, if not, he would leave. He decided to wait at least a couple minutes. (Near the castle entrance/exit)

Kael Skye

Plenoran Castle

Being the nocturnal creature of habit he was, Kael had a hard time getting any sleep during the early hours of the morning once he retired to his room. He sat in his plain room and stared out the window the majority of the remaining darkness after finishing his meal. He hadn't been joined by anyone else before he had left the dining room and apparently barricaded himself in the room marked for his crest. The lights in the city had never gone out as he watched them from his window and reflected upon the events over the past few hours.

But drowsiness had eventually gotten the best of him and he had slept for an hour or so before snapping back awake to pace his room once more. The sun had yet to rise as he began to move about again. As of yet, he still hadn't met many of the other members that were supposed to be allied with himself. Eri, of course he knew now, after their literal 'run in' out on the streets of the city. Their 'king' he knew as Alexander, but only from the voice that had appeared in his head, and the name and view of him from a little ways away was the only knowledge he had of the man. The lizard woman and her pet were still practically strangers to him even though they had met, in a sense. Whatever her name was or what was up with her not talking was beyond Kael. There was also that lizard-provoking knight that appeared to challenge the woman's pet as well, and the half-pint that stuck to their king like glue; he had yet to greet or exchange any kind of 'pleasantries' with them thus far as well. He felt more like a hermit than a member of this faction so far.

The thought irked him as he cast his glance around the walls of his room. Kael was by no means claustrophobic, but being cooped up on the room was starting to really bug him. He began to head for the door when he passed the mirror and caught a glimpse of himself. At least, he thought it was himself he was looking at. His hair was still white as it always was, but his face was different, more rounded and without his high cheekbones. His eyes were blue now instead of red as well. Scrubbing a hand through his hair, he tried to make it stand up like it always did. And then tried again. And again several times afterward until eventually giving up as the hair fell flat again to cascade around his face that wasn't his. He selected a change of clothing more fitting for his new look and tried the mirror again. His eyes still bothered him, and rummaging through the things inside the room, he pulled an ordinary pair of glasses and fitted them on his face. 'Better,' he thought.

Striding from his room quickly, he startled one of the maids as she made her way past his room as she headed further down the hall. Mumbling an apology, he hurried past her and startled two other employees as he made his way through the halls. He really had no idea where he wanted to go, he just knew that he didn't want to be in the room any longer. He decided prowling the castle halls wasn't the greatest idea as he happened on another staff member who jumped as he rounded the corner, and so he headed out of the castle to the fresh air outside the dark and gloomy castle.

Outside Plenoran Castle

The sun was just beginning to break the horizon as Kael stepped onto the pathway that led away from the castle. Letting out a sigh, he walked over to one of the pillars and leaned against it to reflect on what he wanted to do. 'Food should be first.' But he didn't want anything the castle's staff might cook up. He wanted something greasy, and gross, and completely unhealthy for a person who had recently died.

He held up a hand to shade his eyes as the sun shone brightly in the bright morning air and sent rays right in Kael's direction. "Dumbass ball of worthlessness....." He grumbled to the light. A small bit of the hanging white hair fell across his face over the glasses at the movement, hanging harmlessly just inside his vision. His eyes fixed on the hair in an evil glance. Letting out a puff of air, he blew the hair aside to have it leave his vision momentarily before falling right back in the same spot. He brushed it aside with his hand and it once again fell across his face.

Calmly removing the glasses and slipping them into his pocket, he shook his head slightly and let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. In a fit of sudden motion, he scrubbed both his hands through the dangling white locks as he attacked the foreign hair that was his and yet wasn't. "STAY UP OR I'LL TEAR YOU OUT YOU FRICKIN' PIECE OF......AAAGGHHHH!!!"

So far, the morning seemed to be going well....

ALAYSIA DUNOIR

G A R D E N I A

Two wine colored eyes opened slowly, gazing blankly at the ceiling above them. The Homunculus had not had any sort of dream, for an artificial being such as herself did not experience such phenomena save when her soul encountered a message or a piece of information sent it by the Will of Magic, with which she was connected. As no such thing had occurred, Alaysia could determine that nothing urgent related to her new role had yet come up, which was fortunate. In fact, she could safely say that nothing of much import had occurred within her recollection, save for her encounter with her king, the enemy she had sensed tracking them, and her subsequent pledge of servitude.

Upon awakening, she supposed then that the first order of business would be to go and tend to her new duties. She had sworn to serve in whatever means she was required to, which meant that naturally, she would now have to go and discover what it was her king needed from her. Reasoning thus, she sat up, glancing around her as she did so.

The Homunculus' quarters were rather simple in their design. Situated just a room away from those of her master, and connected to the King's own apartment by a door between the two - albeit one with a lock on Alexander's side, to ensure his privacy should he desire it - it was positioned to allow her to respond immediately should she be needed. And, just as its positioning was focused solely on utility rather than aesthetics, its features were largely focused towards practicality and the Homunculus' personal tastes rather than fanciful decorations. A simple bed with featureless white sheets of soft silk, situated in the corner of the room, and upon which she now sat, was one of the few unique furnishings in the apartment. The only other real pieces of furniture within the queen's room were a small wardrobe containing several different sets of garments fitted to her, an equally sparse desk facing away from the back wall, set just below the window in that same edifice, and a small bedside table. What space was not occupied by these items was instead taken up by another type of furniture: bookshelves. From wall to wall, floor to ceiling, books were stacked neatly all around the apartment. Largely, these were alchemical texts - a few of which she recognized - but there were several novels mixed in as well. The young queen was, after all, an avid reader, and, should she have spare time when she was not needed to serve her king, she should very much have liked to spend it in quietude, either studying or enjoying herself in the world of fiction.

In any case, now was not the time for such things. Rising up from her bed and carefully disentangling herself from the sheets, Alaysia strode over to the wardrobe and swiftly selected a simple, plain outfit. Untying the strings fastening the back of the sleeveless nightgown of delicate silver silk in which she had slept, she stepped dextrously out of this outfit, folded it, and placed it within the cupboard, then set about donning her chosen garments - a white blouse, light brown vest, black blazer and skirt, as well as featureless thigh-high black stockings and matching, equally nondescript black shoes. Taking her gun from the bedside table, she slipped this into the bag from the night before, then covered this up with several small, randomly chosen books just in case somebody got a glance inside her bag. Zipping the purse up, she hung it casually over her shoulder, slinging the bag itself under her arm as, checking herself over one last time, she made her way out the door.

---Plenoran Castle - Main Hall---

A short while later, after wandering through the empty hallways for a short time, Alaysia found herself wandering into the entrance hall of the castle just in time to see one of the other pieces - the white haired one she recalled being the rook - leaving, while another, more familiar piece stood near the door, as though waiting for someone. As it was her duty to fulfill any requests the king might have, the Homunculus decided that it would be best if she reported to him and asked if he wanted or needed anything. And so, making her way across the hallway purposefully yet humbly - she kept her head bent ever so slightly downward, wanting to ensure that she maintained a proper level of decorum just in case her master was expecting such behavior from her - she stopped a few feet away, taking a deep bow much like the one she had offered on the previous night. Dropping to one knee as she had then, she crossed her right arm over her heart in respect, her own personal form of deference and salute.

"Good morning, your majesty. Is there anything you require from me?" She asked politely, wanting to offer her service without delay. Above all else, the Homunculus wanted to be as useful as possible, so as not to become a burden. Hers was a very important role, and she desired to fulfill it as close to perfectly as she could. Such was the directive of a servant.
