Introduction
After careful testing they found the environment safe for human habitation. They only found one life form native to the planet which fed on the many forms of plant life. The creatures were skittish and difficult to catch. They seemed harmless so were left alone.
The mission leader Ten Komada announced that since the entire team was stranded, they would build a permanent settlement.
Several years later the first generation was born on โNew Homeโ also called Kolob. The children seemed quieter than normal but one day a parent found her child speaking to one of the native creatures. After careful observation they let the child keep the creature as a pet. They continued to study it as time went on.
The girl Tasha Reynolds continued to talk to the creature for years and it never left her side.
One day a teacher was frustrated that the girl was still talking to her pet at age 15. She asked why Tasha still talked to a creature that couldnโt talk back.
In surprise the girl said, โYou mean you canโt hear her?โ
After a series of tests it was proved that the creature was intelligent and could communicate telepathically. The creatures live off small amounts of spirit energy that mostly came from the planets but after binding to a human they have a mental link to that human. They discovered that the creatures can navigate trans-space. Excited about sending a team back to earth, they hurried to reconfigure their ship. After it was rebuilt they renamed it the โPhoenixโ.
Meanwhile other children also gained companions but were still too young yet for training. Tasha was trained vigorously for her journey and finally left orbit at the age of 18. She is hailed by an asteroid settlement and the people there greet her enthusiastically.
She discovered that they are frantic to escape something they call โThe Protectorateโ. Some time ago artificial intelligence was developed on earth and no one in the colonies knows if the people on earth are dead or slaves to the A.I.โs. Tasha helps them and explains about โNew Home.โ The people are fascinated by her companion โPoโ and are eager to get away from the protectorates swiftly expanding strength. Already some of the other colonies have fallen.
The โWizards and Artificers guildโ has helped the surviving colonies band together and build the โSpace Arkโ Tasha leads the ship back to โNew Home.โ Everyone just hopes that the power of the A.I.โs will not reach them on Kolob.
The colonists are welcomed but the dark news creates fear and uncertainty. The settlers decide to elect a new president and create a galaxy defense force to protect the planet.
So for this rp you have four or five choices for a character. One is a child born on Kolob, also called New Home. You would have a psychic pet and be in the "army" training to travel space.
second- is a person born on the asteroid these people are highly scientific but have also trained their minds so there are many psychics, telekinetics and such.
Third- from Earth either a human, robot, android, cyborg and such.
fourth- an alien from a distant world.
fifth- a magic user from another asteroid in Earths solar system.

This is why it was made a target for rebellion insurgents. At 3:00 AM three unscheduled carbon ore transports arrived and docked at the station. When inspection started the hatchs on all three ships slammed open and mechs started to pile out. The hanger security staff was taken by surprise and almost completely annihilated within minutes. Roughly 60 Volkot close quarters light mechs stormed into the station. The rebel Volkot's were of smaller size and able to fit into sections of the station where the defense force's own mechs couldn't fit. With a higher maneuverability and number of access routes, the rebels were able to avoid major opposition and faced primarily with under equipped infantry units. The station fell into chaos, with the security teams barely holding their ground while the insurgents continued to attempt to storm the storage area.
"... Which was relevant to the last report we received from Forge seventeen as of twenty one minutes ago, sir." Finished lieutenant Gearalt of the communications division.
Admiral James Tiraninot stood at the viewing port of his flagships command bridge. He watched the station in the distance continue it orbit around the moon of Nix. "What are the conditions of the hanger defenses? Have the insurgents over taken security controls?" Behind him Gearalt read off the report message on his data pad. "Sir, hanger blast doors were lowered 15 minutes after confirmed contact with hostiles. Scout drones sent to observe the exterior were short down by automated controls. Enemy is assumed to have full control over hanger defense." Admiral Tiraninot contemplated the situation. The station hangers were heavily reinforced against bombardment. Within the time it took for them to arrive it would be safe to assume the rebels had breached the storage area and were hijacking the mechs inside at the moment. With the anti-bomber turrets reprogrammed to cover the rebel ships they would have little success with destroying the transports before they entered trans-space. This would also prevent them from landing there own troops inside the station. He played a few scenarios in his mind, testing the likely hood of success in each strategy until he settled on a coarse of action.
"Position four squadrons of bombers on standby in an intercept pattern out side the hanger firing range. Target section six under the second ring of the station and launch R.H.A.M. barrage."
Lieutenant Gearalt gave a salute and responded with a "Yes sir!" then paused. when his mind registered the command. "Wait... what. I'm sorry Admiral but could you repeat that last part."
Tiraninot turned around to face Gearalt. He spoke in a slower and stronger tone. "Target section six under the second ring of the station's support facilities and fire. The station's life support is in that section. Without it, the automated defenses will go down and the insurgents will be forced to withdraw. Our squadrons will remove any remaining ships as they exit the station." Gearalt was about to object but Tiraniont held up a hand to silence him. "Do as you are ordered lieutenant or I will find someone who will." Gearalt cringed and relented, relaying the admiral's orders to the fleet. Tiraninot's flagship, the Ashur, opened a dozen of hatches to revel R.H.A.M. missiles.
R.H.A.M. Stood for Robotic Hammer Artillery Missile. It was one of the latest in weapons designs by Pluto's military force made to wreak the inside instead of trying to crack open the hull. A giant cone shaped jackhammer was mounted on the front of the missile that would pound it's way through a ships hull. Timed explosives would wait until Once it had managed to smash it's way into the interior of the enemy vessel before detonating, tearing the ship apart from the inside.
A barrage of these Missiles was fired into the station. They pounded into the side and disappeared under a mask of torn hull. Seconds passed as Tiraninot watch the station. Then a large bulge appeared in it's side before an entire section exploded open in a mass of fire and light. There was little sound, to much distance and not enough air to allow the vibrations of the explosion to reach them. But it rocked the facility just the same. Seconds later lights across the station went out. Power died quickly as even the power generator went up in smoke. With out the life support their was nothing to keep the stations systems running.
That included the ventilation that kept the oxygen flowing.
"Tell the squadrons to move into attack position and engage as soon as the insurgent's withdraw." Tiraninot ordered as he turned to leave, walking past a stunned and solemn Gearalt. "Oh and get a salvaging crew down there to pick up anything that we can recover. We don't want any one trying to loot this place later."
"Yes, sir..." was all Gearalt could reply with as he watch the carnage that Tiraninot had unleashed.

Tasha had only listened to the conversation. She had never been much of a talker. She was the type to sit back and analyze something from every angle before speaking or acting. She wanted to continue observing this new alien and see what kind of technology he knew and could perhaps share with them. It had taken a lot of people time but all the refugees from the asteroids had been able to settle in here and they felt a lot more secure so far away from Earth's solar system and the "protectorate". They needed to know more. The protectorate knew they were out here somewhere and would find them one day. Not to mention there might be other settlements in that system that needed help. She didn't feel comfortable letting the alien know what they were up to and had not really wanted him to go to the mechs. They were all kept together like huge statues on the landing field. Well he couldn't come up with them so at least he wouldn't see the mechs in action. "My mech just has a small glitch in the left knee gyro. It doesn't sound good and it sticks when I transform it and try to walk it." She said the last to Katt wandering what the alien would think knowing that these transform, if he overheard from where they were at Liz's mech..

"Perhaps for now, just as Katt was until we knew we could trust her. We need to know more about his intentions before we give him more freedom."

Liz looked over to the group from the table that had food on it. She was eating some pie, watching Katt. She had picked up on Alexis's and Tasha's mind speak, not missing on the fact that they had mentioned her friend as having been a prisoner. Thinking back on that time, she didn't think that Katt had viewed it that way. Her friend had been in so much pain at the time, and she had been allowed to tinker with her ship. It was how the people had seen that she would be a good mechanic. Liz stopped chewing frowning to herself, she couldn't remember if a doctor had ever looked at Katt's leg. Surely they would have...even if Katt had been viewed as a prisoner....yet, for the life of her Liz couldn't remember if they had or not.

"Sorry about that Shar Kag. She means well. Looks like I have to go. Katt can keep you company if you get lonely and she can also show you where you can stay. See you later." Alexis waved and ran over to her own mech that was already in ship form. She took more time but was also soon in the air. She accelerated also producing a boom cause without extreme acceleration you can't get out of the atmosphere. She had waited til she was higher though so the noise on the ground wouldn't be so bad.

Katt crossed her arms once she reached Shar-khag "Tasha is someone you have to get used to." she looked up in the sky her tail swaying. "It took me a month before I was used to her personality." she looked back to Shar-khag and gave a smile "Ready to see my ship?"

Alexis was swiftly behind and to the right and carefully measured the distance with help from her nav computer. It was hard though to keep it at an even speed and distance while moving at close to the speed of light. Thanks to the forcefeilds there was no g-forces in the mechs but you could still feel the forward momentum and see it in the viewscreens. It was a good challenge to warm up and get her reflexes and mind working and she reveled in it, loving to watch the stream of stars pass by.

Katt's smile grew and she turned, leading the way towards her ship. It sat next to the small building that she called home, with parts strewn around it. The outside was completely fixed, it was the inside that Katt was having trouble with. The only thing she was sure that was fixed was the steering portions of the ship. She gestured towards it "Well here is the wreck that was once my ship, as you can see from all the parts out here, I still have work to do."

No,she shouldn't,couldn't think like that, after all her sister was on a similar mission with a larger group of people. She wondered about her sister and her planet. Then she saw that there were people below,"Watch out,we're getting close to people!" "Yeah,Yeah let me do my job!",the captain responded grumpily back in Vin'may, the language of her people.
The ship made a noise as it hit the ground. She saw parts of an old looking ship underneath hers. The captain was speechless for once until he said,"It was...um...a like this when I got here." Melya ran out of the ship, looking panicked and seeing many people near by,the closed being a humanoid with the ears of an earth cat."Nobody's under there, right?",her question sounding like a plead.

Steeling his patience and keeping his face and tone neutral the Admiral responded. "If you have read over my report, sir Hallifax, then you would see that I have only damaged it's life support. The station itself is still structurally sound, and with proper repairs and restaffing it can be operational again within a month or two." He turned away looking back over the latest mission report from the salvage crew as he continued. "While the loss of the assembly line and refinery is an unfortunate lost I believe it was a necessary course of action." It was the usual complaint. Too much property damage, or casualties, or loss of resources. Rarely did anyone see the reason for his actions, or the alternative's that could have resulted. And honestly he had more important business to attend to then listen to more whining from some sniveling politician.

He kept ranting but was suddenly cut off and warning bells went off all over the compound as a fleet of twenty various ships dropped out of warp right on their doorstep. "Hello good people of Nix and Pluto" A low sexy voice said over the comm, broadcasting on a wide range so everyone could hear. A picture came up on the screen of a buxom woman with a lovely face and long black hair in small braids that reached down past her hips while seated. She had a tall bald man with an eye patch on her right and a rough looking woman with crazy blue hair and Hard gray eyes and a squarish face with hard angles, on her left. "I am Capton Yarasa Tyreen of the Triten and the leader of this pirate fleet. We have come to relieve you of your resources." She said this with calm confidence and smugness like she was doing him a favor by raiding them.

"Gearalt!" He barked "what are the positions of our heavy cruisers?"
"Onyx one and three are at coordinates G18 and G20 sir. Onyx two is G30." The lieutenant responded. Tiraninot started barking out orders sending the bridge into a frenzy of activity. The interior lights of the Ashur's turned red as the ship went into combat alert.
"One and three will move to open broadside barrage on their left flank. Onyx two will move to their right and box them in. Move the flag ship to the front, have the Ashur's main cannons focus fire on their center. Try to drive their formation in half. Split our reserves into two groups, both in a wedge formation and strike the enemy from above and below. Will have them in a pincer bind. I want every available squadron out in combat position now! Lysso, what is the arrival time of the nearest reinforcements?"
"The Foals cluster is an E.T.A. of thirty minutes." She replied over her shoulder.
"Tell them they have twenty."
If he hadn't gone into a battle mind set Tiraninot would have either been insulted or disbelieving of the pirates actions. Charging head long into the very heart of Plutonism space, announcing their presence right after exiting trans-space, and even willing to launch a raid on an area that held one of the five admirals present with an armed force of fifteen ships. Even if she did had five more vessels then his own fleet cluster, this Captain Yarasa had to be very arrogant and foolish if she thought she would walk away from this with her fleet intact. Especially if she was willing to give up her chance at a preemptive strike just so she could be dramatic. A mistake Tiraninot was not about to make.
"Sir, should we send the enemy a message?" Lysso asked. Tiraninot resisted the urge to snort. "Tell them they have five seconds to surrender before we open fire." The major looked up from her computer panel to give him a quizzical look. "But sir, I'll barely be able to get that across before the fleet engages them." Tiraninot didn't respond
"You have your orders," he the admiral shouted. "FIRE AT WILL."

"The Biometric shielding is holding." Another pirate stated.
"Is the stealth fleet in position?" Yarasa asked and when her first officer nodded she continued. "Order them to go now and also return fire, with laser cannons and rail guns!"
The bald man with the eye patch picked up the comm and sent the coded message and within moments on the other side of pluto another fleet of ten cloaked ships came out of hyper space two going to the five going to the capital and the others going to the other spots where Pluto officials were known to be located.
Meanwhile Yarasa was studying the enemies formation. I think I see an opening on that side, she pointed it out on the radar screen to her officers. "Send one third our force to start punching through that gap while the rest of us continue to concentrate on the leader of the enemy.

[edit] trying to work in the Pluto dictator, he'll come up a few times with Tiraninot later. I was thinking of making him a younger political leader, maybe a bit more flamboyant in personality. And I might get around to giving details about the other four admirals of Pluto later.

Re: [OOC] Space Odessey
Another had I had kicking around was for Jupiter.
Jupiter would be a religious state, similar in design to the Vatican. It would be the head of some new 'space religion' centered around the 'souls of the planets' that we might base of roman mythology (or like a rebirth of it). Jupiter would have it's own standing army, but it would be more of a protective measure.
To make it more interesting we might make this place the center of the new united nations.
Re: [OOC] Space Odessey
So for Mars I was thinking that it would be a democratic republic with a council of senators as the height of the gov and a few officers elected into their offices by said council. Mars would probably have a larger emphasis on its ground troops then most other planets, due to the fact that it's atmosphere would be more stable then most other planets. Since Mars would have been the easist planet to settle it might have more planet side cities then other worlds, making it more of an urban world. Also it would have access to better farming ground with it's ecosystem (Other worlds would grow there food artificially in designated produce stations.) That would make Mars major export food, because it is the largest producer of natural foods (Ever since earth went dark at least). With all the advantages of being the most earth-like planet in the system It would stand that Mars would also have considerable militaristic, economic, and political power.

so yeah, missed place posting (Why do we have two if we aren't going back to kolob anytime soon?) I think that maybe I can get around that by copying my post and ash's and putting them with my response we can work around that.
